We are living in a 3 floorplan townhome. our smokey breaker keep tripping, where something is shorted and half of second floor lose power. Mike come in an hour after our call and did a proper debug and solve the problem fundamentally (some nick from attic outlet) he is very patient and clearly explaining what he is doing. This is our first electrician experience, Courtesy Electric would definitely be our to go place and I would recommend for our friends.

We hired Mike for replacing 1970s electrical panel to a new one. Mike and his team came out within a day we called, gave very reasonable quote. Dishwasher was having electrical power problems. Saw the good reviews on Yelp for Courtesy Electric, sent a request via Yelp, then got a response within a few hours. I spoke on the phone with Mike and he quickly scheduled me for within the week.

On the day of the appointment, he called to let me know he was coming within 20 minutes. He also was very accommodating when I requested that he wear the masks that I provided. He quickly diagnosed the problem with the dishwasher outlet and replaced it. Gave me a 10% discount for being a first time customer. Mike was very quick, courteous, straightforward, and professional. I can tell you that I will definitely be a repeat client and will be referring my neighbor to them.

Mike is One of the best electricians in the Bay Area no doubt about it. He trained me and I'm the owner of blessed Electric mike honestly is one of the best electricians out here in the Bay Area I guarantee you this. We use Courtesy Electric to upgrade old electric panel in our house. Mike has been really awesome- he was punctual, followed through with the city and PG&E, and did a great job. In our case, there were number of follow ups required with PG&E, Mike not only handled them but was always on top of them without we have to check on them often. He was very responsive, patiently answering questions and finding the best options for the job, in terms of both cost and quality. Highly recommended!

Right off the bat, I recommend a name change for Courtesy Electric. Above and Beyond seems a bit more fitting but still doesn't capture the phenomenal service and expertise.

I found myself facing a power issue, also presenting a potential safety concern if not resolved asap, on a Sunday afternoon, with no idea what to do to fix the issue after trying a couple things on my own.

After just a few minutes of leaving a message in hopes of getting some help, Mike called back with an unexpected willingness to help immediately. He patiently tried to help me resolve the issue over the phone first, trying a few things that might help. After no luck over the phone, he said he could be there in 10 minutes.

Even for a 10 minute ETA, he kept me up to date on how far he was, including a 3 minutes away update. As soon as he got here, I couldn't have asked for a friendlier person to help-he jumped in right away checking a few things out, found the issue showed me exactly what to do if this ever happens again, and resolved it!

From worried to extremely grateful, I really can't say enough about my experience with Courtesy Electric and Mike.

Warning: if you opt to go with anyone else other than Courtesy Electric, definitely your loss!

Mike and Anthony represent the best of service and--true to their name--courtesy with electricians.

I had several small tasks lined up that needed their help, counsel, and expertise to do for our house. A new chandelier needed to be hung in an offset position from the original. A faulty GFCI circuit needed to be troubleshot (I replaced the GFCI myself earlier, but the problem still existed). An 240V NEMA 14-50 outlet needed to be installed in our garage.

Mike answered my request for estimate the same day from when I sent it out via Yelp. He scheduled the following Monday to come out and do an assessment. 2 days later, I had a reasonable estimate in my email inbox.

He was patient as manufacturing and shipping delays delayed our lighting fixture arrival for months. Once it arrived, we worked out a scheduled date for him and Anthony to come back out to do the job.

While they were here onsite, they quickly went to work to work on each task. Dividing and conquering when appropriate, and collaborating when they needed to problem solve. During the time they were here, they were friendly, courteous, and collaborative.

With the chandelier, the short offset create a challenge of how to run the wiring and the hanging ceiling mount points. I had an idea of running a low profile raceway, but Mike--really wanting to provide an aesthetically pleasing and tidy solution, went through the trouble of fishing the short run and establishing a new tidy mount point for the fixture cap.

For the 240V outlet, he worked with me to recommend a good position for the EV charger, ran a tidy flex conduit line from the panel to the outlet, positioning the charger in an optimal location (better than what I originally had in mind).

Both Mike and Anthony really went the extra mile to look after us by problem solving more creatively than what we had expected. They are tidy and fastidious with their work and keeping the work area clean as they progressed.

I couldn't ask for more from an electrician team. Both these guys at Courtesy Electric are my only go-to electricians for electrical work in our home from now on.

Mike and Sarah were excellent in performing an EV charger install for us in Sunnyvale.

They were efficient thoughtful and accurate with their original estimate. Even though there were some complications due to us having two crawl spaces they worked through it did an excellent hardwired install for our new electric car on a ChargePoint Home Flex.

We are getting excellent charge rates (11.2kw) through a 60A circuit they added to our main panel.

They were thorough and professional in their work and left the job site clean and tidy after they were done and made sure we knew where the breakers were and described the work done at the start and the end to us to make sure our expectations were met.

They arrived on time and finished the 3-4h job on time.

So glad I ended up selecting Mike as my electrician for this job and for any future electrical projects. I had multiple bids and although it wasn't the lowest, his knowledge and professionalism sealed the deal. We upgraded our electrical panel, added outdoor security lights and multiple outlets. The work was done on time and was done on the weekend so we could avoid not having power while we WFH. Communication was done a lot through email and he was always quick to respond. Definitely deserves more than five stars. If you are searching for an electrician, give him a call.

I hired Courtesy Electric to do some work at my parents home and couldn't be happier. Prior to contacting Courtesy I had reached out to several electricians on Yelp who had great reviews, but they were either too pricey or unreceptive.

Mike the owner was excellent from the moment I called. I explained to him what I needed and informed him that I didn't live in town. He told me that it wouldn't be a problem, he would go to my parents home, take a look and contact me to discuss what needed to be done if anything and provide me with an estimate. So we scheduled an appointment for the following day, which was great, because the previous electricians I contacted were either booked up for weeks or no-shows.

He showed up on time for the estimate, called me and told me exactly what needed to be done and how much it would cost. I was extremely pleased with his rates, because they were much more reasonable than the previous contractors. On the day of the job he arrived on time, completed the job on time and called me once again to discuss the repairs. He also sent me pictures of all the work.

In all he rewired and installed 4 new motion sensor lights, rewired the AC run, and installed 2 dedicated circuits all at a great price. More important he was extremely honest. I never got the impression that he was BS-ing me or up selling at any time. If you're looking for an honest, knowledgeable electrician with reasonable rates Mike is the man.

Mike was amazing. After less than satisfactory experiences with some other electricians, working with Mike was a breath of fresh air.
I need to do a main panel replacement (200A) at our house with a permit, plus a couple of smaller items around the house. Mike came by and gave a free estimate (very uncommon from my experience). His estimate was reasonable. Through the job, Mike showed excellent communication skills. He showed up on time and honored the estimate though there were some complications that needed more time to resolve.
The inspector needed some additional work but Mike went ahead and did them though this work was not in the estimate he gave.
All said and done, I couldn't ask for a more positive experience and will be working with Mike for all future electrical needs.

Wow - Mike was amazing. My mom was having issues with lights dimming when appliances went on. Mike arrived on-time, in Covid-19 safety gear, did a full assessment, and made a recommendation (even wrote down notes with diagrams - OMG!! this guys goes above and beyond). His recommendation fixed the whole problem, at no cost.

Next time we need electrical work, there is no question, I'm calling Courtesy Electric first thing- no need to look anywhere else.

Mike replaced our old hazardous electric panel with a new 200A solar ready panel. He was very knowledgeable and to the point when explaining the necessary steps and technical details. He patiently indulged our considerations for different locations and panel types. The work went as planed and there were no problems with the inspector which he also coordinated. A day after the installation we noticed that the dishwasher had no power. Mike quickly came out without hesitation and corrected the issue.
We are very happy with his work.

Highly recommend Courtesy Electric! Their work is high quality and the personal service is outstanding. Mike came by and was great at listening to our needs and concerns. He came up with solutions and suggestions that lined up with our thinking. Projects completed included:

- upgrading all of our 2-prong outlets to 3-prong (this included adding grounding to all outlets which didn't previously exist).
- install / add lighting in several rooms.
- install a ceiling fan
- add a bathroom exhaust fan
- upgrade outlets to GFCI where required

Mike even fixed / added a couple of items I noticed at no additional charge. Will definitely call them the next time we need electrical work.

We had an issue with our laundry machine plug, went to the circuit breaker and found that the switches weren't working.

Called Mike and he was transparent with all of the costs and potential causes. He made time to come by the next day and help us out.

Mike and Anthony did an excellent job installing a new 200 amp CB panel on our Eichler home. The old one was an original, outdated and unsafe Zynsco panel which was also an eyesore on the back wall of our house. Mike knew I didn't like the CB panel on the back wall so he created a small junction box at the location of the old CB panel and then placed the new 200 amp panel around the corner on the side of the house, and it looks SO much better. Mike is an electrician and doesn't do the finish work, so we hired a contractor to install new Eichler paneling and seal around the CB panel and they did an amazing job as well. Another great thing about Courtesy Electric is that Mike returns his calls and texts and clearly communicates his intentions and his schedule availability, so you are not left hanging or waiting like with some other contractors. Mike coordinated everything with the city for permits and inspections and we are very happy with how smoothly it all went. Great job by Courtesy Electric!

We exchanged many Yelp messages and a phone call on a Sunday regarding an electrical issue that I was very worried about. Following a power surge towards the end of October, 2019, several circuit breakers, and appliances went dead (fried). PG & E sent a technician who turned back partial power (110V) and told me to get the panel behind the meter fixed.
Tried to contact several recommended electricians but Courtesy Electric came through. Mike gave me two estimates - one for a total replacement of the old (1960's) panel with a new one and one for replacing the AWG and feeders.

I opted for the latter, for the time being. Mike was prompt in attending to this - knowing that my power would be turned off if I didn't address this within a few days. Great service, prompt, and very personable.

I would recommend Courtesy Electric to anyone.

I called Mike this afternoon to make an appointment because one of our circuit breakers appeared to have blown. He called back quickly and made an appointment and asked me to text him my info.

After me texting the info, I discovered another issue and added this info to the text and he called me back within minutes and walked my husband through the proper way to reset the breakers in our very old breaker box. IT WORKED. My husband then told him of another electrical issue we'd been having and Mike walked him through a possible quick fix of this issue It also worked. Neither one of us knew that the button on that plug would reset the lights as well as what we always assumed was the plug itself.

We are forever grateful to Mike/Courtesy Electric and will happily bring them in to fix any electrical issues we may have in the future.

I called him (he answered right away) as we had a Nest thermostat that had suddenly lost power. I was expecting him to have to come by, but instead he asked a few questions, and surmised that chances are there was disconnect between the furnace and thermostat. Lo and behold -- I went to our furnace and noticed that the switch had been turned off! After switching it on, the Nest powered right back up. Mind = blown.

As if that wasn't enough, I mentioned that a couple of our downstairs smoke alarms weren't getting power either -- again, he asked a couple of questions and imparted generous wisdom, sharing what he thought the likely culprit was and what to consider trying. I have no doubt what he suggested is going to work for our situation.

After this, he wished me a good day and off he likely went to his next happy customer.

This experience leads me to believe a few things:

1. Mike is incredibly knowledgeable and good at what he does,
2. He really cares about people -- he could have easily taken advantage, but didn't,
3. Most importantly -- his integrity and generosity is everything you'd hope for in a professional; I felt like I was talking to a friend,

Had courtesy electric over to fix an outlet for my mom that was causing issues. Technician was there 5min and flipped a GFCI switch I did not know was In Garage. Charged 270$. Charging such an enormous amount for such a beyond easy quick fix is a little shady to me. I'm understand a general service charge but 270$ for 5 min work is crazy. Will not be using them in the future. Technician was very nice.

I called Courtesy Electric because the lights were flickering in the house when we used the large appliances. The dryer was struggling to start, and two light fixtures sputtered out. Mike called me back and let me know that I should call PG&E because it sounded like one of the outside power lines might be the culprit. That was indeed the case (the power line was chewed up by critters living in the trees).
I really appreciated Mike's honesty and advice. Although we didn't end up needing his services this time, I will definitely call him with problems or projects in the future.

While relocating to Mountain View, we needed an additional electrical outlet installed in our new home. After calling several electricians, I decided to work with Courtesy Electric because of their responsiveness, scheduling flexibility, and knowledge.

When I spoke with Mike on the phone about the project, he asked important questions, like how we intended to use the outlet (for a computer printer). Other electricians probably would have just completed the installation without first understanding the requirements. Mike gave good advice about the wiring and placement of the outlet, offering cost-saving suggestions while ensuring the end result would meet our needs.

Courtesy Electric arrived on time and completed the work quickly and correctly. After the outlet was installed, the electrician helped move the printer to the space we wanted to use it and encouraged me to test it before he left to ensure everything was working correctly. He even took time to point out an unusual GFCI configuration in our house, helping save us potential consternation and another service call in the future. (By the way, there were no additional charges for the time kindly spent on these steps, since the work was charged at a fixed amount, not based on time and materials.)

Since that first project went so well, we invited Courtesy Electric back to install a NEMA 14-50 electrical outlet to use for charging an electric vehicle. Our new house was supposedly pre-wired for this purpose, but really there was just a hole covered by a plate marked car charger without a single wire behind it. Despite that project taking more work than anticipated, Mike gladly completed the wiring for the original price he quoted. The new outlet looks nice and works great.

From both these projects, it is obvious that Courtesy Electric has very high standards for workmanship, with everything completed neatly, professionally, and safely.

I needed an EV wall charger installed. Mike contacted me promptly via Yelp and was able to find the time in between weekends and over his weekend to come by and quote the work. Price as not the lowest but very reasonable. Mike was professional and patient as we debated between several placement options. He then was able to accommodate a quick turnaround of a time slot for doing the work and executed the work on the electric panel and the unit installation perfectly. Worked clean, protected our hardwood floors, explained why he needed to open a small hole in the wall and was patient while I tested the unit and did it exactly as quoted.

We hired Mike to replace a sixty-year (or more) fuse box in the house we just bought. (Yes, it was so old that it required glass fuses -- good luck replacing those.) We first came by him one night when we blew out a fuse daring to run both the dryer and microwave at the same time. Mike answered when my wife called (while I was out hunting for replacement fuses) and he was more than happy to walk us through the issue in the evening hours over the phone.

When we hired him to replace the fuse box with an awesome modern-day breaker box, he did a great job -- him and David (his apprentice) were super friendly, explained everything, and cleaned up when done. So far electricity is still flowing to our house (and we can run the dryer, microwave, AND toaster oven simultaneously : ] ).

We'll definitely be hiring Courtesy Electric again in the future for more electrical work in updating our house. Mike's clearly passionate about his profession -- evidenced by his getting excited about the type of lighting we could set up if we wanted to go all out.

We had an urgent small project (close off one switch and one plug) to prepare for an upcoming paint job in one of our bedrooms, and was worried that we would not be able to source a quality electrician to help. I had to install a new ice machine in my shop and it required 220V wiring. I called a few places to get quotes and Courtesy Electrics was the middle bid. Mike came out to take a look at exactly what is involved and gave me a good run down of what he would do along with how much time was required. On the day of the installation, he showed up on time and the work was completed on schedule. He cleaned up all the scraps and made sure the ice machine was up and running. It's been a couple months and there's no problems what so ever.

I had an issue where my pool equipment was tripping my electrical box. One electrician suggested that I get a lot of work done, which would be very expensive. I had Mike come out and he provided a simpler less expensive approach, to see if that would solve the problem. My electrical box hasn't tripped since.

I needed help installing an outdoor 10-switch manual transfer switch next to the main power panel, so I can power parts of the house with portable generators during power outages, which seem to happen more and more frequently in my neighborhood. I requested quotes on Yelp, Thumbtack, and HomeAdvisor, and got 5 ~ 6 quotes. Most electricians came out to check the site and equipments. One even booked an 7:30am appointment and never showed up, not leaving any message afterwards.

Mike from Courtesy Electric gave me a flat rate quote, the lowest among other quotes (except the guy who didn't show up), and a discount through Yelp. From our email exchange, he seemed to know what he's talking about, and he sounded straightforward no-nonsense, so I hired him.

He and his assistant Joe showed up a few minutes early, and got the switch installed in 3 hours flat, including a trip to Home Depot. He helped me test it out by simulating an outage. Everything checked. I'm very happy about it and would definitely recommend Mike.

It was a Christmas miracle!!! Our breaker jumped and one part of our house lost power. We tried to fix the breaker ourselves but couldn't get it to work. I first used Mike when I remodeled my kitchen and adjoining family room. He did a marvelous job on the dimmable recessed lighting for both rooms, additional outlets for the kitchen as the newer appliances needed more amp power than previous which in turn required a new electrical panel box, and installed LED lighting underneath the cabinets. Mike did a terrific job that my sister used him to install additional recessed lighting for her dining and family rooms !

And yesterday, Mike came out to repair an outlet when I blew out the circuit in the garage. He patiently explained how not to overload the circuit but he installed a GFI for the outlet to prevent further outages just in case I forget.

I will use Courtesy Electric in the future, as I found Mike to be courteous, fair, and very professional.

With El Nino approaching (they say), I thought it would be a good idea to install a portable generator and Transfer Switch to keep the fridge and a few other key circuits humming along in the event of a blackout.

Found Mike at Courtesy Electric on Yelp (with 5 star rating - why wouldn't you start with him?). Mike was very friendly, responsive and VERY patient with my (many) questions. He even pointed me to a web site that had the products I needed at lower cost than I had found.

So far so good.

On the appointment date, he was on time, and installed the Transfer switch in a couple of hours. Very professional and pleasant - clearly knows what he is doing. For extra credit, he and his team figured out a real head scratching electrical problem in my outside shed at no extra cost. Definitely wins the extra mile award for customer satisfaction.

Mike installed several dedicated electrical outlets into our Eichler home. Because it's essentially an original 1950s single-story Eichler, this involved running a new line along the edge of the roof. He also put in grounding for our main fuse box. Mike is the real deal, professional, knows his stuff, does what he says he's going to do. I'm critical and typically don't hire out, so i did my research before hiring an electrician to upgrade my home panel to 200amp. I got 3 bids, and Mike was the only one who showed up when he said (a little early even!), delivered the bid timely and when promised, and performed the work as quoted. Mike wasn't the cheapest quote, but it was obvious he was worth every penny. He pulled the permits for me, met the inspector for final sign off, no hassle, no fuss. A small heater blew off the power, and affected a couple of rooms.

Mike was very responsive, set up the appointment real quick, and with Jacob arrived on time. The team worked seamlessly, quickly locating the problem and fix the problem much faster than I estimated. When I was asking about replacing the electrical panel, Mike responded appropriately, helping point me to the right information, explaining what's involved, without having me feel pushed for decision under pressure. My husband and I finally decide to replace the panel. This task lasted a little longer, but Mike ensured me a couple of times that doing it right is his high priority that he would not compromise. We were very happy with the end result, and were not asked to pay more for the extra hours beyond the first estimation :-)

If there are 10 stars Mike fully deserves it. I had to add two new dedicated 220V circuits to my electric panel as well as new lines going to my new electric tankless water heater. He responded to my inquiry quickly and came to my house the very next morning. Obviously I did not expect Mike to know exactly all the requirement my water heater needs and I was ready to show him all the specs and pictures I gathered on web of how other people have done it. So it was somewhat surprising that he is quite knowledgeable about what exactly needs to be done per code to meet the water heater requirements. I came away from the meeting very impressed and felt very at ease. As soon as I received the quote from him that same day, my wife and I quickly decided Mike was the man for the job. The cost was reasonable and in line with 3 other electricians I had spoken with. Mike & his assistant came back a couple of days later and installed the 2 new breakers and the 6 AWG lines, which involved him and his assistant crawling around in tight spaces under the house. The work looks great and all breakers & wires were labeled, contained in a very durable conduit. I am now just waiting for my plumber to complete the rest of the work but the electrical part is all done. I have worked with a few contractors before and Mike is definitely one the best, professional, knowledgeable, responsive, and friendly too!

Everything was great. Timely, clear communication. Professional, friendly trustworthy service.

I needed to replace a dangerously old circuit breaker in my new condo. The folks from Courtesy Electric came out to take a look, made a suggestion for a replacement along with a quote right on the spot.

They also installed 3 ceiling fans, which were also done really well all in the same time as the other work.

The work they did was efficient and high-quality. They are very tech-savvy as well - with all estimates, bills, receipts, etc available via email and completed on-the-spot from handheld device.

Mike did an excellent job on several rooms for us. He showed up when he said he would, did the work he said he would do, billed us promptly, and everything worked correctly when he was done. He also explained some of the more interesting parts of our house's existing wiring, and let us know what might need to be done in the future to sort that out.

He was quick to respond to my initial call, easy to schedule with, he called to confirm our appointment, and he got here right on time. I'd hired him to install a ceiling fan and front porch light, but when he got here, I had noticed a couple of other minor things that needed doing. I was fully prepared for him to tell me he didn't have time and would need to schedule another visit. But not only did he happily do them, he even ran to the hardware store while Jacob was installing the fan and got a better outlet for me than the one I'd gotten (I got dark brown thinking it was close enough to black, he went and got true black). Both Mike and Jacob were friendly, easy to talk to, helpful, and Jacob did an outstanding job on all the work. I'm thrilled, and we're having Mike prepare bids on more work that we need done around here, and can finally proceed on now that we've found a great electrician!

Somebody wrote here that 'Courtesy Electric is 100% accurate as a name for Mike's company'. I second this. I called Mike at 9am because half of my house lost power. He was able to find a window in his schedule for a free estimate visit. During this visit he troubleshooted the problem and immediately fixed it. He stayed until I verified that everything is working again. My power was back at 10 am same day! I am happy with his work and definitely hire him again if I need any electrical work in the future.

Recently bought a new (to me) home and Courtesy Electric came recommended from our general contractor

The electrical work that needed to be done was basic maintenance/additions

The work was done promptly and with good fit and finish

Rates are competitive and Mike is very knowledgeable. His recommendations are spot on and its good to have him as a resource for advice.

Mike was great! He came out on a Saturday, fixed my botched outlet installation, got my hot water heater working again, AND taught me how do the job more safely myself next time. Timely response, friendly personality and great service!

I have used Mike on all my three properties. From the first time I met him to my most recent task I assigned him, his professional demeanor is what keeps me calling him for all my electrical needs. The man is a tireless machine. He has even installed lighting in the crawl space underneath my house. That's how eccentric I am and that is how accommodating Mike has always been to me and all my friends to whom I have referred Mike of Courtesy Electric. Don't waste your time and money on cut rate service. Stick with Mike. He will do it once and do it right. I have never had to have him come back to repair a mistake. His work is flawless.

Great to have a reliable honest electrician in the Sunnyvale area and for Yelp to be able to find him. The lights stopped working in a section of my house necessitating me to get on Yelp and find an electrician pronto. I called two, both called me back but only Mike from Courtesy was available the next. day. He arrived when he said he would, stayed late trying to figure it out and updated me on what he was doing step by step. In the end up he had to run some new wires from the circuit breaker box and he provided me all the information up front. I'll definately be using him for my future electrical needs. He's reliable, honest, knows his stuff and fair with his pricing.

I contacted Courtesy Electric to install a GFI Plug outside just off of my breaker box so I could use electrical tools in my front yard. Michael (the owner) returned my call the next day and we set an appointment for a quote and to possibly have the work done in just a couple days. One small issue, I had to contact Michael the time/day of the appointment and it turned out there was an error and I was not on his calendar. He was very apologetic and was able to come by only 45 minutes late. His quote was affordable and he was willing to locate/find/pickup a specialty part for my project at cost (no markup). He returned after his next appointment and completed the work that day and as described/estimated. I may have deducted a star for the error on the calendar/appointment, but he took responsibility for the error and had the Job completed affordably that day and with courtesy. I had a good experience and would use his services again in the future.

We had some work done by a handyman which was substandard and actually ended up being a nightmare to deal with. The handyman added a small panel box next to our existing which was inside one of our bathrooms, ran the wiring OUTSIDE the walls through our master bedroom and into our second bathroom. Needless to say when I came home from work to see this I was beside myself. I called Mike and he provided his thoughts on how the work may have been done and made some suggestions. He agreed to come the next morning when the handyman foreman was to arrive. We all walked through the house and agreed this was probably not the best way to do the job. Mike graciously stepped outside and let me release the handyman. We immediately received an estimate from mike with clear description of the work. He replaced our existing panel, the smaller one removed, ran the wiring through the walls, added a circuit and really did a beautifully job. He was careful about furniture, cleanliness, cutting into walls, etc. also completed the job quickly. I felt comfortable trusting him in our home and he took his time explaining things to me as I am not an electrician. Definitely 5 stars!!!
