CLD Electric

I am interested in installing EV charging in my garage. The catch is, I live in a multi-unit dwelling with a detached garage so it is a little tricky. I worked with Jerry who had an answer for all of my questions, of which there were many. He helped me understand the requirements and limitations I faced with the type of install I was trying to do. He also recommended other configurations that I didn't even think of.

I will absolutely reach out to CLD Electric for my next project.

I had a problem with a circuit upstairs in my condo. I called and everyone was super professional but the receptionist didn't want to discuss pricing and left it to the tech.

Orlando shows up at my condo at 3:00pm as expected. I tell him the issue, and show him the breakers and all the CFGI outlets I have and have already reset. He resets the one in my bathroom and repairs my problem with one finger push. I told him that I did that earlier and nothing changed.

He then starts to tell me the itemized total $165.00. This is why I wanted to discuss pricing for everything before he came out. $90 for 30 min of troubleshooting, which he did not need to do because I told him the issue. Also he was not even here for that duration of time. Then I was charged the service fee of 75 dollars, which I was content on paying because ultimately he was able to fix my issue. For some reason everyone dodges the question so that the tech can bend you over later.

Not only did I tell him the problem that I had exactly, I also showed him how to fix it. I'm upset because he was here for less than 5 min of work and didn't need to use any of his tools, yet I was charged a crazy amount.

Then we had an argument about how much it should be, The tech goes on to lecture me in my own home comparing his service to a car locked door situation and it costing 90 dollars for a 5 min job to unlock his car. I'd gladly pay $90 for him to come out and press a button. I had already paid the man. At this point I just wanted him out the house but he just stood there. I had to walk him out. So it is 3:10pm, I thanked him for the fix but expressed that the 90 dollar fee on top of their service charge is unnecessary in this situation and I can be mad about it. I will not be using this company again.

In response to Jerry's reply. If you read the review, he did fix my issue. So i still needed him to come out. And you may want to check you order of operations. The woman on the phone clearly states that the technician will go over pricing with you when he arrives. May want to go back to your recording. Also, if I knew speaking to you was even an option, I would have.  The technician stated he can't do anything else for me as far as the overpriced fee goes. I have no intention of flaming any business. Just sharing my experience. Isn't this what yelp is for? I hope your business still thrives. I have a family to take care of which I am sure you do too. I just won't do it by charging bogus fees. I also won't be lectured in my own living room in front of my family for asking for a more reasonable price. Have a good day Jerry...

I had 4 old light fixtures which needed to be replaced with new ones. I swapped out on my own but was unsuccessful to get them to work.

I called CLD Electric to troubleshoot the issue. I was informed there in a $90 per 30 minute troubleshooting charge plus $75 trip charge= $165 with a $240 minimum job billing.  I was told if I consented to the work, the trip charge would be waived. The electrician removed the first light fixture and identified the problem as being a wiring issue. He accomplished this in 15 minutes. I explained to him that the wiring for the rest of the light fixtures were done the same way. He asked if I wanted him to repair - which meant rewire the light fixture and place onto the wall. I responded, 'yes.'

Upon completion, the electrician presented a bill for $420!!! The company overcharged me and explained to me that the continued to charge me $90 per 30 min to troubleshoot the other light fixtures!!  

After contacting the owner, he agreed to reduce my bill by $90. This was truly appreciated.  

So for anyone looking to use CLD Electric, please note you will be charged $240 minimum per job regardless of time and effort.

We have been remodeling our home since summer and we have been going back and forth with changes. They have had so much patience with us and incredibly accommodating. I appreciate the attention to detail and would recommend them to anyone looking for a good electrican with fair prices.

I had a fantastic experience with CLD for doing an entire house remodel. Blake helped me design the new lighting layout for my kitchen and everything turned out perfectly. He listened to what I wanted but also gave great ideas and recommendations where I needed them.

He also added ceiling fan boxes to each of my bedrooms. Blake did his best to work with us on scheduling and was very responsive and easy to work with.

I made an appt and no one ever showed up. No call or text. Then I called and she said she would get back to me in five minutes but never did call. DO NOT use this company!

I gave CLD Electric a ring because they service in my  area. I spoke with Jerry over the phone and walked him through my electric issue at home. It only took him a minute or less to figure out the issue. He didn't have to come to my home to troubleshoot which would have cost money. Instead, the problem was resolved over the the phone. Thank you, Jerry for patiently explaining to me what caused the problem and how to quickly resolve the issue. I appreciate your expertise!

We hired CLD Electric to install some hanging ceiling lights (requiring new wiring and fixtures) and some outdoor lighting as well. Jeremy Barlow from CLD did a fantastic job! We loved working with Jeremy, and his attention to detail really shows. Jeremy was friendly, easy-going, and hard-working. We've found our go-to electrician!

Had Ralph come out from CLD Electric to install some outlets in my closet, awesome guy very friendly and did a great job making nice clean cuts into the dry wall, and of course outlets work perfect!

CLD came did two jobs for me. The first one went well. The second job request was for my home. Two breakers where replaced 840.00. I approved the work and the electrician replaced them however two weeks later the circuits where out again.  I called another electrician who came out replaced the two circuits again, and also the buzz bar, that needed replacement.  The total was 531.00. A much better deal and a better outcome.

Made an appointment for electrical work, no call no show for technician and zero follow up by management. If this company can't even follow thru with a simple appointment or follow up I got news for you, they'll fuck everything else up. Thanks.

The electrician (Orlando) came on time, fixed everything and even found a couple anomalies I never would have noticed (fire hazards). He finished the work and cleaned up afterwards, all in very good time. He was as pleasant and polite as could be.

Had an electrician come out to my RV to help install the wiring for my two AC units. The guy was punctual and friendly but he was asking way too many personal questions about my parents marriage, wife, guns, things of that nature. Questions that I believe should not be asked by someone whom I don't personally know.

My AC system has been making a surging should every couple minutes since the install. He mentioned needing to put in a transformer that is just a cheap Chinese part that usually cost $20 and they don't last too long. Sounds like the surge is going to there.

I had called them out to give me an estimate on the install. He came out there, and immediately started working. 2 hours later, the install was done (not correctly) and I was charged $550 with all the discounts he could give me. But I was never told an actual estimate. So how can I know I was just being lied to? Because $550 is an absurd amount for 2 hours of work and a cheap $20 part that won't last long.

Excellent professional service at a reasonable price. I would give a higher rating if I could!

These guys did a great job, were on time and completely professional. I had a concern about one of the charges and they did a great job of making sure I was happy and were easy to deal with. Jerry was very good about getting back to me and I'm sure I'll be calling CLD again if something goes wrong.

Scotty was incredibly kind, responsive, professional and was able to get the job done with quality. I had gotten a quote from another company here in San Diego but they could not compare to customer service CLD had provided. I would most definitely use them again and recommend them to everyone!

I needed an electrician in San Diego and went searching, I talked to a few electricians but none as professional as CLD Electric. Having never used a electrical contractor I wasn't sure what to expect. The electrician, Scotty was informed - on time and helpful. Since they handle everything electrical related I asked about some switches and outlets and getting some installed. He said it was no problem and took care of it then. The lighting fixture was a big upgrade, my kitchen has a lot of light in it now.

If you're in need of a professional electrician in San Diego CA my suggestion is to call CLD Electric, they'll take good care of you.

We worked with Orlando at CLD electric (and some limited encounters with Jerry). Orlando installed an outlet ~160ft from our home for a pool and completed work outlined on a home inspection report we received prior to buying our current home.

It was a substantial amount of work - replacing all outlets in the kitchen, adding junction boxes in the attic for exposed splices, fixing faulty wiring and substandard work completed by previous electricians (or by the previous owner). I asked for details on every installation and how it addresses items in the inspection report, which Orlando provided. He was respectful of our request to keep a mask on indoors and was flexible about scheduling. I also believe we were given a price that was more than fair.

Jerry returned my initial call to schedule the work on the same day and had Orlando out to start on the pool outlet the next day. Initially the timer for the pool outlet was faulty. When I called, Jerry offered to have it fixed that same day (we opted to wait until the day the rest of the work was scheduled). I am very satisfied by their professionalism and timeliness and will be returning for any future work we need.

Scott was friendly and proficient. I had a 240 installed on side of condo to charge my Tesla. No issues!

We were looking for an electrician to do a variety of electrical work throughout our property. Called CLD for a quote. Blake came out the next day to give us a quote. Prices were reasonable, so we accepted and he began work that same day. Upon finishing the first project, we hired him to take on another. Three projects later, we are very satisfied and look forward to having him back to install some canned lighting throughout the house. Blake was very knowledgeable. This young man was also very polite, and extremely courteous as he cleaned up after himself at every step of the project. We are extremely satisfied with the work. They do service Temecula.

Called on a Tuesday and had a Wednesday morning appointment and solved by Wednesday afternoon! Technician was friendly, efficient.  Would absolutely hire again.

Exactly what I needed. Flickering lights, crackle in the wires. An electrical contractor was badly needed. The electrician with CLD Electric, Peter was knowledgeable, hard working and had a good attitude.

I had them evaluate the lighting and replace the old lighting that had been there. They put in several new lighting fixtures. They changed out the wiring in the wall that was crackling. Installed several new switches with the dimmers.

Highly-highly recommend this electrician for all service needs in your home and residence. I used CLD electric for several lighting projects around my home including a couple 52 in fan in the back patio. The level of professionalism and service displayed by Peter the electrician throughout the process of installing the fans and lights is some of the best I've ever had.

Peter was knowledgeable and had a go-getter approach to figuring stuff out.

I had been using a handyman for my electric repairs and not getting great results. Now that I have a profession electric company to work with I can really begin to lighten up my living room and kitchen.

This past week I called CLD electric as I was looking for an electrician in San Diego to help me with my light fixtures. My light fixtures need to be installed because the lighting inside of my house had gotten to be unbearable. It only took CLD Electric 2 hours to get everything wired, installed and replaced. I'm impressed with their focus on the job and the desire to get it done right the first time. I'll be using CLD electric for all my electrical needs.

BOTTOM LINE: IN MY OPINION, IF PRICE IS A CONSIDERATION ... GO SOMPLACE ELSE.

My original review was done before money entered the conversation. I felt obliged to update based on the  following:

Website claims free estimates. I guess the free part only starts after a $50 SERVICE CHARGE plus a  $75 TROUBLESHOOTING charge.  Charges apply to each visit.

According to CLD, a 2-phase, 100 Amp main panel circuit breaker costs around $500 + tax. I found one on Home Depot site for $66.

I had the tech unplug a circuit breaker from one line and plug it into the other. Touch time was 2 minutes (to be very generous). Charge was $189!!  I questioned the charge and was told that CLD had overhead' to cover.

I suggested cleaning corrosion off the main panel contacts and was told it could not be done. Only solution to my problem was to replace the entire panel at a price ranging from $6k to $8k.  
I later found an electrician who would clean the panel contacts for $250 and, if necessary, replace the panel for $4200.

BUYER BEWARE; GET SECOND ESTIMATE

I highly recommend CLD ELECTRIC! Ryan came out right away and fixed 3 problems I was having with some outdoor outlets. Very professional, knowledgeable, and skilled. He even fixed the problem I was having with my pool fountain. It hadn't worked in years because an electrician from a different company told me it couldn't be fixed. Ryan replace the GFI outlet and everything works now! I also liked that he installed waterproof outlet covers. I appreciated that he took the time to ask me what the outlets were being used for and he made suggestions that would solve future problems. Thank you CLD ELECTRIC!

I recently completely flipped my home, and needed an electrician to do the recessed lighting. I called CLD and they sent out Blake to do the work. Blake did a great job. Out of all the contractors I had, he was the only contractor to put in the extra hours to get the project done on time! When you say a job takes X amount of days to finish, I expect you to follow through and CLD did just that.

Scotty is VERY knowledgeable and fixed everything quickly AND past business hours. A true hero  Majorly impressed with him and his work ethic. Great guy! Highly recommend for any electrical work!

Recently I needed a electrician to help me out with a sub panel problem after some circuit breakers had been damaged. CLD Electric knew exactly what the problem was and how to deal with it after another electric company couldn't figure it out. Our technician Scotty troubleshooted the entire problem methodically going through each step figuring out where the faulty connectors were and what needed to be replaced. After talking with Scotty, he told me many homeowners and businesses have sub panel and circuit breaker problems throughout the area and finding reputable electricians that are experienced and creative is easier said than done. He said that CLD electric stays busy because they're well-managed and they only hire competent electricians. I must agree. Real pleased.

CLD saved us!  Our electrical went haywire on us late on a Friday.  It had been going bad and we were unable to figure out why. Scotty made his way through 5S traffic on a Friday night, showed up and diagnosed the problem right away.  An hour later we were better than new. I was stuck at work but my wife said he was very professional and did a great job all the way through.  They were also great about getting back to me and keeping me updated, even on a Friday night!  Would definitely use them again.

I found a latent problem that CLD missed on their first visit. So, I called again 2 months later and presented the issue.

CLD sent a guy out today and quickly fixed the problem... no sweat; no charge.

It's rare to find guys who stand behind their work and that alone is worth a  5 star rating to me.

Our bathroom and kitchen lights completely stopped working but all other lights worked fine. We called out an electrician from a different company the night before, although they were nice and did try to find the problem, they still could not after 2 hours of looking. We were afraid that the problem was much deeper so I went ahead and contacted CLD Electric for a second opinion.. Scottie came out and saved the day!!! He found the problem in just 40 or so minutes, explained it thoroughly and then fixed it right away! He even set it up to where the problem should not reoccur. My family is so incredibly relieved and happy with what Scottie was able to do for us today. On top of that, the price we paid was absolutely worth it and completely reasonable. Scottie is truly the best around! Thank you CLD Electric! We are forever clients now!

Jerry the owner of CLD was great!  We needed an outlet installed outside our house for an irrigation timer.   He installed the outlet mounted the timer & everything looks great.

We now have our go to electrician. Some more projects coming up soon CLD is who we will be calling.

Hi Jonita, It sounds like the panel may need a little troubleshooting to determine it's condition. We can do this for $68.50. As far as the extra wiring is concerned we will give you a free estimate on that and any additional wiring issues at the time of inspection. The above msg from Jerry CLEARLY states the trouble shooting charge to be 68.50 NOT 68.50 per 1/2 hour.  That was revealed when the tech arrived. This is typically called a bait and switch.

I did not phone CLD on Saturday because 1) there office hours listed them as closed 2) I did my homework and research on what Mark told me and found he profusely exaggerated the danger and 3) was able to fix the issue myself.

Mark arrived at 11:15 and departed at 12:31. That is clearly not 1.5 hours spent diagnosing a problem.  He spent more time telling me how dangerous my electrical service was than diagnosing or repairing the minor.

The handyman was likely the perpetuator of my issue (plugged in 2 old high energy spotlights without any sort of surge protector), was waaayyyyy over his head and was promptly dismissed from any further services at 12:50 pm, 19 minutes after Mark left. I have this time well documented.

Interesting, Jerry reports my initial message to him went to the wrong email box, yet, the message i sent him on Saturday 3/19/16 reporting I was disputing the charge submitted to my credit card on 3/16 (yes I was billed over a month after the service date), went to the correct location and was viewed immediately. Ummm....

Anyway, essentially scaring someone into a fairly simple repair at the cost of 340.00 is nothing short of price gouging.  I went on to hire a different  licensed electrician (not on yelp) who installed wiring for 3 smoke detectors, 2 ceiling fans,1 overhead light (I supplied the materials) for a total of $350.00 (5.5 hours of work).

How impressive! CLD electric company in san diego came out to my rental house in LA Mesa to fix the breaker panel and replace 2 ceiling fans that did too much shaking when they turned on so the CLD team installed new ceiling fans with lights switches that had very cool dimmers. The job cost was very close to the job estimate and I am very happy with all of their services. The technicians were great and very helpful.

CLD Electric in San Diego has installed ceiling fans and Outlets along with canned recessed lighting fixtures. Their professionalism is five stars and their knowledge is excellent I would highly recommend them to anyone in the San Diego area looking for an experienced electrician. I'm so glad that I found a quality electric company after moving to San Diego since finding good service and repairs can be difficult at times. Thank CLD for all your good work!

My husband and I were in need of an emergency electrician New Years Day. With it being a holiday we figured no one would be able to come out so we called and left CLD Electric a message. Jerry called us right back and we were able to set up an appointment for 9am the next day. Jerry was awesome! He came out looked at everything and was able to handle and fix our issue right then and there. He was very professional and kind. He obviously knew what he was doing and got it done in a very timely manner. I highly recommend Jerry with CLD with any electrical issues you may have!

I needed some low voltage wiring, lights, and switches installed.  Some of the wired runs were difficult but John did an excellent job installing the wires.  He had promptly provided a bid just before the holidays and started right after.  He had several lights to install and the workmanship was great and he was  careful to get paint to match the new light switch with the wall paint.  Overall I was very pleased with CLD Electric and would hire them again.

Jerry changed my main circuit panel and replaced all the breaker switches in their wrong positions not adjacent to their respective labels.  I put a warning note in the door of the panel to alert other  electricians of this potential danger!

I had an emergency electrical problem and was very, very pleased with the work done by CLD Electric. Pricing policies and trouble shooting charges were explained clearly when I set up my appointment and again when the technician arrived at my house. CLD Electric was prompt, courteous, and very professional. The work was performed expeditiously and with the highest degree of competence. There was no attempt to either drag the job out or to sell me work I didn't need. I have dealt with many, many contractors during my fifty plus years as a home owner. I don't think I have found anyone as honest or as experienced in the electrical field as CLD Electric. They have my highest recommendation.
