I called on the day of the day of the River Storm in March 2023 for emergency services. My elderly clients Generac was not starting and the power went out from all of the fallen trees. I received some of the best help I have ever received from any technician.
He walked me through the process and gave me the secret advice you never receive, get a can of carburetor quick start.
I did and sprayed it in and within two seconds the generator started right up and my customers were so pleased because the PGE was out for parts of 3 days.
Dan Charles and Charles Electric are fantastic.
We recently had heavy rains and a power outage. I wanted to connect my sump pump to my generator, but the generator didn't start. On a Sunday, with more rain expected in the coming days, I called Charles Electric to see if they could help.
Dan took the generator on a Sunday and had it repaired by Monday. The rain came on Tuesday and my generator was ready to go. Besides doing great work, Dan is a friendly, engaging and super-nice human being.

We had a very tricky electrical issue with our 110 year old house, and Dan totally delivered! He was very professional, and was determined to find a solution where other electrical companies had either missed the problems altogether or quoted us an astronomical price. We're so grateful, plus he's a sweet guy and we share a love of Syracuse!
They were great! Came on time, did what was needed. A GFCI outlet needed replacement in a floor socket. Their work was efficient and Matt and Jeff were very pleasant to deal with.
Dan, the owner, dealt with the appointment and gave a decent estimate on Yelp. He was very responsive and has a great team.
We will definitely use them again for our electrical work!

Dan Charles and his team serviced my Generac generator. It was my first dealing with Charles Electric, and I was thoroughly delighted. Dan is an experienced electrician and knows Generac generators and even portable generators extremely well. He is very pleasant and easy to work with. He is very honest and trustworthy. He gave me very useful tips about the generator and the transfer switch. His team is wonderful too. I highly recommend.

Charles Electric installed led lights in our house, along with patio lights, and replaced the circuit board because some of our lights were not work. Can't be happier with his work. It's really hard to find good people that do really quality work. I highly recommend Charles Electric.

Be aware! He will ask for 80% of a job cost upfront and cannot provide any references.
These guys are awesome! We had a big list of items including swapping out bathroom, dining room and kitchen lights and many switches replaced. Dan and his team met us and finished the work in no time. He even agreed to come out on a Saturday to repair a couple other items we found on this visit. Friendly guys and great service! AAA+++

I agree with all the positive Yelp reviews on Dan Charles! My one-year old Honeywell (Generac) generator was working fine, but the transfer switch was not. I contacted a few electricians prior to finding out about Dan Charles and none were qualified to work on it. I finally contacted Generac and Charles Electric was one of the authorized technicians they recommended. Despite his busy schedule, Dan fit me in and couldn't have been nicer, more communicative or more qualified to work on my system. Dan and his assistant Jamison showed up a couple of days after I contacted him, as promised, serviced my generator and figured out my switch problem. Not only did he diagnose the problem but he had the specific circuit board I needed with him in his truck. All in all the service call was a complete pleasure and everything is working again - thanks to Dan!
Dan and his team just installed the 240V circuit and a Tesla wall charger over the weekend for me. Dan is super friendly and very knowledgeable. The job was done quickly and properly. I am very happy with the work done.

I just finished having Charles Electric in Half Moon bay come to restore my outside power, garage door and plugs. I was impressed with Dan and his response, expertise and efficiency. I definitely will use him another time as this was an emergency but he has a new hero in addition to Belle on Neighbor Next Door who loves to play with sticks at the beach. Charles Electric installed an electric baseboard heater in the lowest room of our house. They showed up on time, did the work on budget, and were extremely friendly. I'd be happy to hire them again.
I want to give a shout out to Dan Charles of Charles Electric. Dan just installed an outdoor outlet which was just one of many electrical jobs that he has done for me going on 2 decades. He always shows up with a smile on his face with a can do attitude. Oh, did I mention that he also took care of 2 other issues on the spot. It is hard to find a good electrician that will take on a small job with as much kindness and enthusiasm as a big job. Dan's my man!

Wow, great service! Called and Dan came out to look at a problem that we encountered. Dan helped to find the missing GFI and within minutes the problem was solved. Call Charles Electric if your having electrical issues you won't be disappointed.
Had I known I was dealing with a company I couldn't trust, I would have saved time, money and the need for another electrician. Lesson learned...
I wanted to post how happy we are to have worked with Dan Charles (Charles Electric). Dan put in my Generac to deal with all of the power outages we have in California. Dan and his crew were extremely professional and did an amazing job installing my generator. What normally takes months to get a generator, only took a couple of weeks. If you are looking for a Generac,, I recommend Dan and his team.

I lost half the power in my house at 4am. Weird. Some lights, outlets and appliances worked, but others items didn't work. I check the GFCIs and breakers, and things seem fine from there. Kitchen lights work, but refrigerator and furnace were not getting power. What the?
I reached out to Charles Electric and Dan got back to me within a few hours, and was able to stop by almost immediately. He showed up COVID safe, with mask. He was able to diagnose the problem in a few minutes, and knew exactly what needed to be done. He got everything lined up and the problem was resolved a few hours later - expertise in action.
10/10. I will contact Charles Electric again in the future and would recommend to others. Dan was professional, friendly, explained the problem to me clearly, and was a pleasure to talk with. Service was prompt and thorough.
Dan was great putting my mind at ease, I was having electrical issues and I sent him a video late on Sunday night and told me to shut off the breakers that were making the scary noises and came out here the very next day to solve the problem at a fair price! Highly recommend Charles Electric.
I've been looking for someone who could service Generac home generators. It's not very easy to find anyone, but I finally managed to stumble across Dan and couldn't have been happier. He responded to my email right away. Turns out he was in the neighborhood and at my house within the hour. His service was efficient, well-priced and to top it off he's a nice guy. I tired to do a repair myself and quickly realized i had no clue what i was doing. Thankfully Dan called me right away and helped with the job. I was so thankful; really didn't want wires hanging around my children. I will only use Charles Electric from now on and they will be my first recommendation. The third PG&E related outage in three weeks was the bad news on Friday. Dan was called to help check out my new generator that wasn't working. First of all, he showed up at my house to try and fix it- on a Friday evening. He took the generator back to his home and tried to fix it over the weekend. He must have put in 8 hours. The generator was faulty in couple places. It was clear it had to be exchanged. Dan was amazing in that he even refused to bill since he didn't give me positive results. Amazing! I certainly plan to use him more often now.
Excellent experience with Dan. He also made great, and cost effective, recommendations for my issue. I'd call him again without hesitation.
Dan Charles came out recently to do the first maintenance service of our Generac generator, as well as that for our neighbor. It was very easy to schedule an appointment with him. He clearly communicated with us from start to finish and arrived at exactly the scheduled time. He is very friendly, approachable and knowledgeable. He completed the work in a timely fashion and gave us information and tips about how to best manage our generator system. He also pointed out an installation flaw that had the potential to be problematic in the future. In addition, his fees are reasonable. We will definitely use Dan and his company for our future generator and electrical installation/problem-resolution needs.

Dan and team do great preventative maintenance on our Generac--totally reasonable and responsive!
Dan fit me into his packed schedule (typically booked a week or two out, it helped that I was so close to his home base on the coast) to check out a circuit feeding my water well pump that was constantly going out. He is responsive, friendly, adds humor, and will happily educate you on what he's doing and has helpful advice for all things electrical. He found the breakers were going bad and had replacements installed right away. He even noticed the power meter next to my panel was not properly mounted exposing the equipment behind the cover to the elements and fixed that too. You definitely want an electrician focused on safety and he also took some pictures to document his work (attention to detail and thorough!). I wouldn't hesitate to bring honest, hard working folks like Dan future business.
I had what I thought was an emergency on a Friday night during a pandemic and Dan called me right back and came over and not only fixed our issue, he put our mind at ease and was so kind~. It's great to have a trustworthy, LOCAL, reliable and very skilled person to call for our electrical needs. Also, his skills are way beyond what we needed.. I highly recommend him. He even donated some money towards dog food for the puppies we are fostering! Above and beyond!!!!

Dan is one of the most conscientious, smart, qualified, professionals on the coast I have met. He has been a go-to for me on several houses over my 30 years a resident. Even now as I get my last home ready for sale he is there for me. Definitely recommend them. I have tried others from over the hill. They didn't do the same quality and always seem to want a huge project. Dan is different.
