Recently, i have trim LED light falling (2), I only call Berk's Electrical to take care of it.
Omar (Electrical technician) represents this co. he did a wonderful works.

On two separate occasions we needed to have a security light installed at the front door and back door of our mobile home. Our technician Omar answered the call and installed our lights in a courteous manner. Good job Omar and thanks.

RIP OFF ALERT. Hired Berk's electric to repair 3 smoke detectors. Not happy, but ok on the $165/hour labor. But these shakedown artists charged me $344 for 3 Kidde Smoke Alarms I could have bought on Amazon for  $75 total. That is 400%++ markup on parts.

Francisco from Berk's felt bad about charging my mom $220 to change the lightbulb in her closet on 5/4/22. She lives alone and thought there was a short so called an electrician to help. Ended up being just the lightbulb was burned out. He changed it for her with a lightbulb she provided. Now one year later almost to the day her handyman neighbor comes over to investigate why the closet light is flickering again. He thought it was probably the fixture needed replacing. Took off the bulb cover and finds the bulb is sitting there broken almost falling off the socket. So Berk's electric walked away last May having scammed my mom for $195 (after the senior discount) for a 15 minute house call, and all she got was a broken lightbulb. Thankfully her neighbor changed it for her out of the kindness of his heart. No charge, as a friendly electrician should have done. I will credit Francisco cuz it sounds like he was a nice enough guy but what an awful policy he upheld to profit off of such a simple fix.

Previous review / 10am: Whoever scheduled my appointment wrote down the wrong phone number and perhaps email since I don't see it in my inbox or spam. They canceled my appointment and refuse to own up to their mistakes.

Update / 4pm: The owner, presumably, stepped in and was able to get Francisco to the house. The problem is not as obvious and not as easy to solve. However, Francisco is patient and skillful. He was able to figure it out in one visit.

Jose and Ezekiel from Berks Electrical just retro-fitted our warehouse high bay lights to LED!!! 7 lights taken down, cleaned and re-installed in 4 hours!Both techs were professional and kept us involved during the process. Asked if we had any questions or concerns before leaving. Great experience. We've been trying to get these lights replaced for 3 years and received nothing but no shows and runaround from other companies. Berks answered our call right away and gave us quick scheduling. Allison and Theresa at their office were extremely helpful too!!!

What a phenomenal job Aaron did at our house today. The quality of his work was so outstanding that we felt he deserved special recognition.  His attention to detail and keeping the work environment clean resulted in a job well done.

Having moved into a new home, we have multiple electrical needs and turned to Berk's based on previous positive experiences with the company. One challenge was coordination of electrical work with our TV installation team. I was most grateful for the support I received on a Friday afternoon. Jeff, the owner, was personally involved and dispatched Omar, who was outstanding. He knows his stuff and did an excellent job in wiring back boxes. I appreciate the personalized service and how everyone went the extra mile to accommodate me.

We were quoted $89 for an estimate. Charged $250. Estimate to replace outdoor sensor and bathroom fixture was $748. Highway robbery!

Francisco came out and fixed my kitchen outlets. He was quick, efficient, and explained everything to me. I am so happy to have found this company and to have had Francisco as my electrician. My kitchen outlets are working again and they've been replaced with something so much better. I will definitely be using this company again and requesting him. He was amazing. Thank you so much!

Omar arrived as scheduled and worked efficiently to diagnose and correct the power outage at our residence.   Throughout his visit, he clearly explained what he was doing and why it was necessary.  Omar's work was neat and his demeanor polite.

Berk's has done many jobs around our house over the years and we have always been pleased! The owners Jeff and Nadine are very nice. Their electricians are reliable, responsible, and hard working!
The most recent electrician we had was Francisco...he was sent out to install a plug for a new range- we had the power (capped off wires) and thought we only needed the plastic plug cover installed- what did I know?! After he checked everything, he discovered the existing power was too strong for what the range required.
He explained everything very clearly before he started the work and asked for permission to complete it (because it needed more work than I originally thought). He was honest, hard working, diligent, and very knowledgeable! On top of that he was a very pleasant and nice guy!

I want to give a shout out to Omar for doing a great job on an electrical issue we had.  He listened to our concerns, diagnosed the problem, fix the problem with confidence and checked and double checked his work.  Since I took a picture of the job and texted this to the office, Omar had all the materials he needed to complete the job. I recommend Omar for his professionalism and skill.

Francisco was very professional and knowledgeable. He fixed the light switch and GFI for my hallway bathroom. I really appreciated the work he did. Would recommend.

Excellent service and work by Kyle who came by and fixed our electrical issues and removed an old light fixture and replaced another. Job well done, neat and clean work. Coming back to install 2 flood lights for our side yard soon. Thanks again Kyle for your good work.

Allison assisted us, was not happy with the quote services. Did not want to send anybody out to the home to quote us, wanted photos instead. Sent photos, then sent us quote for much higher than other electricians. Was pushy in telling us what we needed instead of listening to the customer's needs. Difficult to work with for a simple home upgrade project, decided to decline services.

Francisco did great work today! The wiring for the lighting in our bathroom was bad, and he not only diagnosed it right away, he installed a brand-new switch area and made sure that it is up to code! Also, he took a look at our stove top hood and recommended that we replace the hood. And, he also examined some of our outdoor lighting and made sure that it is working, and in addition he recommended that we install LED fixtures outside, so that they can use much less energy and save us a lot of money! Francisco showed up on-time, showed himself to be very responsible (and responsive to all of our questions), very polite and courteous, and he provided a very detailed work certificate, clearly showing what he did today and what he recommends we do next time. And we will definitely use Berk's Electrical again! Thank you, Francisco! And Thank you, Berk's Electrical!

I normally do not write a lot of Yelp reviews, but Berk's Electrical & Lighting  and their technician, Michael Habib, went beyond the call to solve my electrical problem.

We are in the process of selling our home and had a plumber come out to install a pressure release valve, but they loosened the ground coming in the water line. Guess what, the loose ground popped our electrical circuit.

I called Berk's in a panic and they dispatched Mike Habib immediately. I can't speak more highly about Mike. He was very professional and made me feel that all will be taken care of. Guess what... he diagnosed and solved our issues in a very timely and professional manner.

I would highly recommend Mike Habib, and Berk's Electrical & Lightning.

Plugs weren't working in 2 rooms.  Checked GFIs of surrounding areas as well as breakers before calling Berk's.  Francisco came out within the hour, diagnosed, and fixed the problem promptly & at a great price.  Very friendly and informative as to what the issue was and what was required to fix it.  Hopefully I won't have electrical problems in the future, but if I do I'm calling Berk's!

My pool & spa light were not working so Hugo came out to troubleshoot the problem and in doing so resolved a bunch of wiring/jbox/GFCI issues that were not up to code.  Bottom line is Hugo fixed the many issues I had and the entire thing looks much better. Very professional and helpful. The entire process was seamless from start to finish.  My new go to electricians!  Thanks again.

Nabil Kattan promptly and professionally addressed our need for a replacement bathroom light fixture.  Nabil efficiently removed the existing fixture and worked to install the new problematic fixure in its place.  He was courteous and professional when he was onsite and worked largely unsupervised.  He was very communicative in his progress and was very flexible and accommodating with his time.

For many years Berk's has been our preferred company for any and all of our electrical needs.  The owner Jeff cares a great deal for his customers and their satisfaction. Today is the first time I decided to write a review and that is  because my favorite electrician, Michael H. came out to take care of a couple projects.  Michael is clean, fast, honest and efficient he definitely knows his stuff and is a great guy overall. If you are in need of a professional and nice crew I highly recommend Berk's Electrical and Lighting!

Right from the first call, Berk's were responsive, happy to help, and went out of their way to send someone out as soon as possible. The electrician came today, found the problem, discovered a fire hazard in the process and fixed that too. They were also very fairly priced. We will definitely call them again!

Berk's installed two EV locations in my garage.  They wired and installed a ChargePoint Home Flex charger on the wall, hardwired into our panel, and then on the other side of our garage (for a second car) they added a NEMA 14-15 outlet for use with a portable charger.  The conduit they ran along the top of wall and the ceiling looks great, very professional, and everything works fine.  Friendly and knowledgeable with competitive pricing.  Thanks to Berk's for getting us up to speed with EV charging at home!  I recommend Berk's for anyone in need of professional electrical work.

I always use Berks Electrical. Hugo did a great job. I thought I just needed a whole new timer for my outdoor lights, but Hugo thoroughly checked it out and then tested it several times. Minor problem, no need to buy and install a whole new timer. He fixed the plug that the lights were hooked up to and made them safe for outdoor use! That's what I love about Berk's! I'm one happy customer!

2nd experience working with Berk's.  This time Guillermo arrived to troubleshoot a tripping breaker.  He wore a mask, troubleshot the problem, pulled some new wire to fix it, and then cleaned everything up.  He also pointed out that I had some circuit breakers that were mismatched my panel, did not try to hard upsell me, but did offer to send a quote for a subsequent change out if I wanted.  All in all excellent professional service.

I've had Berk's Electrical work on two of my properties and honestly I wouldn't trust any one else. They're always professional, on time and they do the job right the first time.Nabil and Mike are the absolute best and they worked electrical magic on my house-- from replacing a doorbell chime to fixing outdoor lights that wouldn't turn on. They suggested installing recessed lights (at a fair price!) and I trusted them to just go for it. And WOW! What a difference. They really know what they're doing. They were the 3rd electrician we called. The 1st guy never showed up. Leone Electric came over and a week later sent us an estimate, however they left off a couple of items. I emailed them and they were going to get back to me but never did. So I called Berk's Electrical and Lighting and they sent an electrician out to see what we needed and to trouble shoot a couple of switches. After he saw what we needed he said he would get us an estimate and check his truck to see if he had what was needed. Michael was very friendly and made some good suggestions. Their estimate was cheaper than Leone's (which was incomplete). After a few hours Michael was done. We are very appreciative of their great customer service and highly recommend them. We had a problem with an outlet not working and because of that couldn't use my washer and dryer. I called yesterday and they made appointment for me between 8:30-10:30 and Guillermo showed at 9:30 and was very nice. He showed me everything he was doing with a clear explanation as to what the problem was and what he was doing to correct it. The price was great and Guillermo was very professional and friendly! But the thing that was most important to me was the explanation of why the outlet wasn't working and what he did to correct it! I will definitely be calling them again!!

It seems like once every two or three years, something goes out in our 50 year old house.  This is at least the fourth time I've had Berk's come here, and once again, they proved why.  Two electricians, Kyle and Nicholas, showed up on time, listened to my explanation of what I'd been able to suss out, then went about corroborating it and figuring it out.  They had everything fixed, a new outlet installed, and everything cleaned up, in maybe 45 minutes flat.  In the mean time, they were polite, efficient, and friendly.  

Berk's has done great by us for years now, and they continue to do so.

Nabil was an amazing installer! Showed up on time, and was very informative and courteous. Great install on a nice chandelier, installed a new dimmer switch and checked all GFI outlets around the house. Even helped with a little more on his own behalf. Would HIGHLY recommend this company to anyone doing work and will definitely use them in the future for any needs I have. Thanks!

Beyond impressed with this company! They came out twice , helped me look for the right bulbs etc. Super patient, came prepared and worked so hard and my chandeliers are perfect! They also said they guarantee their work for years so I feel super safe if I need anything I can count on them. They all were so super sweet and wanted to make sure I was happy.

We had a problem with a dining room chandelier that was solved quickly. Kyle Hively was prompt, knowledgeable, cleaned up after his work. He also took care of replacing a remote device for a ceiling fan in a bedroom. We are getting a quote on some new undercounter lighting in the kitchen as well as replacing some old smoke forwand look forward to another good job.

UPDATE! Based on our previous experience we decided to have the company comeback and do a much larger project. We replaced all the smoke detectors in our house and put in a carbon monoxide detector. They also replaced our old undercounter lights with modern LEDs. We also had them put in new kitchen lighting in a china cabinet and new lighting over a serving counter between the kitchen and dining room. Kyle did the job efficiently and professionally. Everything works as expected. He cleaned everything up and thanked us for the call back to do this job. A great local company!

I'm a homeowner in Orange who needed new electrical for an HVAC system.  I found Berks electrical online and gave them a call.  Both of the people I have spoken with from their office have been a pleasure to talk. However, They scheduled a technician to be at my house at 10:00AM on October 23rd. 12 o'clock rolls around and no technician.  I called the office and they said it was on the schedule for  1:00PM.  They apologized and I let it go.  Technician arrives, nicest guy ever.  I think his name was Rael. Meeting went well and finished with him saying he would get back to me with an estimate for the work we discussed.  Today, November 5th still no call from Rael or anyone from Berks electrical.  I follow up with a call to their office this morning.  Here's what they said sorry for not getting back to you. Our estimator has been backed up with other jobs. He should have your estimate by the end of the week
Are you kidding me!!!! This is how companies go out of business.  Sure there is a lot of work right now and business is good.  But what about when it slows down and you can't lean on your reputation because you blew off someone like me.

I trust Berks doing my electrical work. When some of my outlets stopped working, they were out the next day and fixed the problem and problems that would have happened if not for the professionalism of their electrician.  I am very pleased with Berks and would not hesitate to call them again.

I have been using Berk's for a while now.  They are very responsive, polite, professional and wear masks.  I have had them change out inside and outside lights, replace fixtures, fix a light timer someone cut the wire to (!) and, most recently, replace a hard-to-find jumbo switch plate.  Although every service-person I have had did a good job, I especially like John.  I recommend them!

Berk's Electrical & Lighting was one of several Electricians invited to bid on more than a dozen electrical upgrades @ our home.  They were the only Company to arrive at our home when scheduled, performed a very thorough review of the work & a couple days later emailed a very professional estimate, including length of work & approximately when they could begin.  

After they were hired, they arrived when scheduled, worked across two days, completed all the upgrades and even discovered an error from a previous electrical connection of which they showed me a picture, explained the error & correction and asked permission to correct.

Today I had Berk's Electrical & Lighting come to my home to install 7 recessed ceiling LED light retrofits with trim, to existing old light cans. Mike was the electrician.  He did an excellent job. He worked his way through the job, paying attention to details, cleaning up as he went along.  I live in a older home built in 1964. The old original cans and the popcorn ceiling made it a bit of a challenge.  It all turned out great.  Now I have much better light through out my house and that makes me so happy. Mike was respectful of my home, left the areas  he worked in clean and a very nice guy. So thanks Mike and Berk's Electric , you made my day.

Michael Alvarez one of Berks electricians was really excellent!  He was extremely knowledgeable, courteous and punctual and really went above and beyond with great recommendations.  He even advised us on the best camera system for our front door even though we didn't need any help with that particular installation.

Berks Electrical as a whole was very professional and did a great job installing LED lighting all over our house song with summers and under cabinet lighting.  They were fast, reasonable and had good follow up.  I would highly recommend them and plan to have them back down the toad to install additional LED lighting in a few other rooms!

This is my 2nd project with Berk's.  First was the 240 V, 50 Amp installation for my Tesla last year and the second another 240 V, 40 Amp circuit for an induction oven.   Nabil and Chris were professional, clearly explaining the scope of their work.   Workmanship was good, and they cleaned up as much as they could afterwards.   We chose Berk because of the expertise, and they are local in Orange County, family owned, and BBB rated.

Great professional service! Completed a tricky exterior lighting job thoroughly and in a timely manner.

The company took interest in my post and actually called me apologising for the conduct of the worker and promising to better train and onboard new associates. I appreciate their call.

I called them out because I thought a switch which they had installed a number of years ago did not work.  When the electrician got to my house he looked at the switch and pulled out a circuit breaker from under the switch which I was never told was there and that was the way to reset the light.  They then charged me $195.00 for this service.   I had used them in the past to install all the recessed lighting in my 3500 sq. ft. house which was north of 5K dollars and reinstalling all my smoke detectors which was about 1.2k.  After this episode I will never call them again and would recommend you don't either unless you want to be overcharged.

We called to have some antiquated gfi units in our bathrooms.  Dave came checked out what had to be done, did it as well as disconnecting our hot tub to be replaced by a newer more modern unit.

Dave was super professional and friendly.  Have already called to have him come back and attach electrical to new hot tub Tuesday.

I made a mistake using Berk's Electrical & Lighting

John and Rael are very professional and used quality parts you don't find at your local hardware store. Even the inspector for the permit commented on the weatherproof outdoor plugs I had them install.   I had them add a 20 amp circuit on the side of my house for sprinkler and light timers, and bring my hot water tank circuit up to code. They also replaced all of my 50 year old breakers with new ones and added the 100 amp main breakers. They drilled into the side of the house and ran flex conduit underneath with junction boxes in case I want to add in later. Everything showing outside was done with conduit pipe. The patch work was excellent and blended with the house. Would definitely call them back if I need more work.

Berk's was referred to me by a friend. Extremely professional staff and they worked around my schedule. John was on time and quickly took care of my problem. I highly recommend Berk's Electrical.

I am employed by a large law firm in Orange County and have used Berk's Electrical on several occasions. Not only are they prompt and extremely professional, their knowledge is second to none. At the beginning of the year I had arranged a large project for new exterior/ interior signage that ended up being a huge undertaking. Without the assistance and guidance of Kyle and Nick the entire operation would have been an absolute disaster. They truly saved the day. The sign company made several errors during this process. Not only did Kyle and Nick complete the job they were hired for, they also were able to spot several and rectify mistakes that were made by the sign company in the process. In turn, they have become the only company we use and recommend. These guys are well recognized around the office and its always a pleasure to work with them. The entire staff is great, Kyle & Nick have been absolute all stars in our eyes and are completely trusted by both partners and staff.

Kyle did an awesome job installing three ceiling fans in my home. I called several places, but Berk's was the most prompt and professional. I was able to schedule the job within a couple days and was given a fair quote. I am glad that I went with them because the project turned out perfect. I would definitely call them for any future electrical work.

I am writing this review based solely on the lack of professionalism of this company. I called and asked if they provided the services I needed and they said yes. A time and date was setup for an estimate which was today from 1-3pm. Today is a Thursday which is traditionally known as part of the work week, at 12:57 I received a call from their receptionist that they would not be coming out and that they were too busy to take on our job.

The receptionist also said that she didn't know any other electrical companies in the area when I asked if they could refer me to anyone.

What a waste of time and ultimately money. So lame.

Berk's Electrical was fast and responsive arriving promptly after we called.  Guillermo Silva was very courteous and efficient as he replaced a main circuit breaker which had left our house without power and heat.

I called Berk's electrical. They provided a quote by phone which is really nice. I really appreciated companies who do not charge for quotes. They respected their quote although the work was a little more complicated but because they did not inform me when they realized that it should cost more they did not add at the end. This is a family owned business and it shows. They respect their word. They are professional they did a great job. Will hire them again for more work. Definitely recommend.

I cant say enough positive things about my experience with Berk's Electrical. Lights were flickering in my house & things were constantly shutting down with a overloaded circuit. Nadine was so sweet on the phone and sent someone over that day I called within 1 hour. Mike and another gentleman came over, assessed the situation and knew what needed to be done immediately. They had to move our entire panel to the garage so they ripped into our walls and installed a whole new panel in the garage and put everything on its on breaker. We have had ZERO issues so far. Great price for all the work they did and they hustled on the project and were completed within 1 1/2 days. They were so nice and informative!! I would 100% recommend them again. They cleaned up everything nicely and even re-patched the walls so it looks like nothing happened. Thanks again!

I hired this company to install an exterior ceiling fan in a location which required a new box.  Also had them check a plug on my Bar B Q which wasn't working.  They did a decent job of installing fan and they replaced a plug.  They charged $634 for the fan and $100 for checking and replacing a plug.  Ok, but a little expensive I thought at time.

Next day I tried new plug and it wasn't working.  Also, a few days later the fan wasn't working.  I asked them to come back and check work.  Made first appointment and set aside afternoon and they didn't keep the appt.  Had to call to make next appt, one guy shows up checks work, determines both items are working, problem with fan was a defective remote, plug has problem GFCI which I decided to replace myself.  Guy calls his office and they decide to charge me another $125 for a service visit.  I understand being paid for your time, but he was there less than an hour and I already paid them over $700.  I felt they were trying to gouge me.

They are not interested in good service or in having repeat customers.  Their only concern is charging you as much as possible.  Technician knew I was very unhappy. Do you think I heard anything from the company after that, any attempt to have a satisfied customer?  Nope.

I would avoid this company and go with someone who really cares about customer service, repeat business and referrals.

From the call for request of service to the finish of project, the technician, Nabil Kattan, was terrific.  He showed up, neat, clean shave, nice smile and had his mask on.  Initially we wanted to have some exterior lights put up and hooked up to a timer.  Our house was built in 1970 and the existing wiring was not to code.  Because of this, Berk's did not want to work on the lighting, and we understood.  Nabil discussed with us the process and suggestions relating to getting our wiring in the garage to code and we went forward with the job.  He wrote out the estimate and along with that estimate had included the work to get our lights on the timer.  It was a bit more than anticipated but we honestly would have had to rewire anyway if we ever wanted to sell the house.  We are happy with his work, his demeanor, and his cleanup afterward.  The owners are very nice too!  Highly recommend this company! -- Julia B.

I hired Berk's Electrical & Lighting company to replace a light over my kitchen sink. They also checked out a fluorescent light, I was having problems with. A part was broken, so the electrician took it to see if he could replace the part. Unfortunately, he misplaced the part, so I would have to purchase a completely new fixture. Two days later, I get a call from Jeff. He said it was their fault, and that they would install a new light fixture at no cost to me! I was stunned!  I was impressed! I realized then that I was working with a company that had both integrity and class! Thanks, Berk's Electrical! I will call you first for future electrical work!

Michael Alvarez was a great technician very knowledgeable, professional, and clean.  Trouble shot some electrical outlets found the issue and made the appropriate repairs.  The next time any electrical service is need, I will be sure to request Michael again.

Awesome company!  We hired Berk's Electrical to restore power to the outlets under the kitchen sink and in some of the rooms upstairs. Kyle arrived shortly after we made the call for service and much earlier than anticipated.  He was very professional, polite and  knowledgeable, explaining everything he was doing and why. This company's level of service definitely exceeded our expectations, and I would highly recommend them anyone!!

My fuse blew on my panel and my ac. Stopped working.  They came out fast and fixed the problem.  The guy was very nice and new what he was doing.   I was very happy with the work.

Had them come out to check and replace a couple of plugs. David did an great job explaining what needed to be replaced and why, did the work pretty fast and was very nice. Definitely will be using them again and asking for David

We had Berks Electrical come out a few times to do some work for us. The last time they came out was a few days ago and changed out an in the wall timer for us.  He did a great job and we were very pleased with the job he did.  We would use them again for any other jobs we might have. We would recommend Berks Electrical.

I have used Berk's electrical for multiple jobs in our home.  They are professional and have done an excellent job every time. Their rates are reasonable and they provided quotes prior.  Highly recommended for the quality of their work.  Guillermo and Jose were very professional and went above and beyond answering all of my questions and ensuring everything was exact.  Their attention to detail was much appreciated.  We will definitely use again for future electrical needs.

After taking the day off from work, arranging for the dogs to not be around and waiting the entire day I get not one but two telephone calls flippantly telling me I needed to reschedule for Monday because they mismanaged their time.  After all the inconvenience and time wasted they should have at least offered to come after hours or on the week end for the usual price.  I had to give up precious vacation time, I expect at least some respect in return.  Hades will freeze over before I call this unprofessional company again.

My anxiety at the end of my visit with these guys and even after they left was at a super high level. I'm not one to get my feathers ruffled easily but seriously the way they try to squeeze money from you just makes you stare blankly at them and wonder to yourself wow should I call the cops Bc they're robbing me to my face

So I setup an appointment on the phone to have a ceiling fan looked at. The ceiling fan only goes at a medium speed even though it has a high, medium, low setting. Clicking on any button, you'll hear the receiver click but the fan speed doesn't change. So I call and explain my situation to the operator and she says there's a fee for coming out, it's $89 for the technician to inspect so I'm like uhhh ok so $89 for him to look at the problem and then quote work that he hasn't done yet? I tell her I know visually what the problem is and will the tech measure voltage or has he seen this type of issue before or what will he actually check before giving me his suggestion? She just replies back that he's experienced. Experienced in what??? I decide to go forward hesitantly Bc I need help and I'm not sure of what else to do.

Like I thought the tech comes out, I show them the issue in person and show him a working fan in another room. I give him some time and tell him to let me know. 10 minutes later he comes and says ok well it is either 1) the fan motor or 2) the fan remote's receiver... Ummmm duh?!?! I mean it's not the earth's gravitational pull or because solar flares exist. Obviously it's 1 OR 2. Even I know that. He then says, I'll have to dig deeper, I charge $149/first hour and $95/each hour after to look deeper. So now my choices are, pay this guy $89 for the 10 min of work he's done or have that waived and start the clock having him dig deeper at ridiculously high rates!!! Ok... I'm again stressed at my choices on how to get screwed. I choose to have him inspect the fan deeper and he prefAces by saying, even if I dig deeper, if it's internal to the fan I can't do anything and so I ask, what are you going to do then? (I keep thinking in my head if he's somehow testing systematically?!?! What is his strategy?!?!)

So now I'm thinking, what if he just tears this fan apart and nothing is gained by it? And then he changes me for ripping it apart and finding nothing..... Ding ding ding that's exactly what happens when I check up on him 40 minutes later. He says the remote unit may or may it be working and he can take it with him to try and find a replacement, if that doesn't work the motor might need to be rewound... I ask the normal how much does that cost question and he says that depending on if I have deep pockets it could be anywhere from $500+ dollars to figure out the true issue. WTF! A new decent or even really nice ceiling fan +install isn't even that much...

So I tell him to wrap it up and yeah let's go look to see if replacing the receiver will work. He then helps pack up the dismantled fan into a box I provide to him. He then takes a phone call with his boss and explains the situation. He then comes downstairs and says yea my boss says you might as well replace the fan and we shouldn't move forward with the legwork to fix the problem ie. The receiver he's holding so wait, you just spoke to your boss who told you to stop your current project? Ok....

So now the paperwork, he brings me the form he had me sign for the $149/first hr rate and in my head that's what I'm about to pay which already hurts Bc what has been accomplished here really for that rate? This guy has been in my house working on this issue and working (physically not looking at the issue but doing work) less than an hour. He then tries to charge me for almost 2 hrs of work. I'm like O_o!!!! Uhhh you only did an hour of work and he wants to charge me for the minute he walked in the door. No F@&kin way! You're charging me from shaking your hand, explaining the issue, showing you a working fan, taking a phone call with your boss, asking me to find you a box, talking to you about your opinions on how I should proceed!?!?! So what if you went into a monologue about the history of fans? And I politely listen, I'm supposed to pay for that?

I told him no and now I'm like having issues not telling this guy how full of it he is. I tell him that he didn't explain the hourly charges until 4 time and now it's 5, I'm only paying an hour!

I pay it and he leaves. I tell all my housemates who overheard the convos what a joke that company was. This is exactly why dealing with new handymen, contractors, plumbers, or service people etc makes people so worried and have to turn to yelp because they don't want get stuck dealing with money hungry do nothing companies who just get by by charging a ridiculous rates to stay afloat.

Avoid these guys. My story could be your same story and my anxiety could be your anxiety. Unless you won the lottery and don't care about money... Don't get Played.

Great company! We've had these guys come out twice over the last five years, always prepared to do the job with gear and supplies on hand.  Reasonably priced, punctual, fast workers, high-quality results.

We have a house in Irvine and have used Berk's in the past on a couple of occasions.  They do good work and was reasonably priced.  Recently, we had a exterior light next to the garage door go out.  So we called Berk's and asked for them to come out, without asking about fees as I trusted them to be fair.  What a mistake!!!  The problem was a simple ballast that needed to be replaced.  The worker did not have one on his truck so he needed to come back.  Bottom line, they charged 389 dollars for a 15 minute job.  The charge included 65 dollars for the ballast part which i subsequently checked online- you can buy the ballast for 13 dollars.  I feel that they grossly over charged me and I feel betrayed as a former customer who trusted them.  They are qualified and do do good work- however, there are many good electricians who also charge reasonable rates- I recommend that you take the time and find one.

In October 2015 I had another electrician scheduled to repair some broken high voltage landscaping wire in my backyard and they finked out on me saying they didn't have time in their schedule after repeated calls from me.  Since this was the second time they cancelled on me I gave up on them.  I called Berke Electric and spoke to Mr. Berkowitz himself who came out to my house to review the work and provide me an estimate.  They completed the work right away and gave a better price than the other electrician.  In January 2016 I needed to have four non functioning outlets repaired. Berke came and repaired them and called me (I was out of town) every step to let me know their progress.  They were very professional and dependable.  I like that it's a family business because you feel like they really value the customer.

Needed an electrical line run for a ceiling fan.  Contacted Berk's Electrical and found them very helpful.  Judy was very pleasant and worked with me to get a ballpark price and time when the work could be done.

Roman showed up EARLY, but waited for me to get home.  He was pleasant, clean, knowledgeable and efficient.  The work was done within budget and the end result was exactly what I wanted.

I would highly recommend Berk's Electrical to anyone who needs a trusted and professional electrical job done.

Berks Electrical and Lighting were referred to me by my neighbor . I needed some new lighting as well as repairs to our bathroom and backyard outlets that were not working.Jeff their estimator came out and gave us some very good ideas about our lighting.While he was here he repaired our outlet problem for free by showing me that the button on our ground fault outlet in the garage needed to be pushed in.I can't say enough good things about this company,their work was fantastic,put plastic over the furniture and floors and now we have lighting in three rooms.

I highly recommend them if ever you are in need of electrical work.

I went on Angie's list. Found 2 electricians I asked to come out to give me an estimate on installing a ceiling fan & check my fuses. I was very clear I wanted an estimate before I made a decision on who to hire for the job. Other company was cool with it. Berks expected me to just let the guy do the job. They didn't want to honor their 10% offer they have because I wanted the 2nd estimate before I decided on the job. Went with Berk's because the guy said he could do the job with much less damage to my walls. Two years later I'm paying the other guy to come out and fix what that guy did to my house. The switch he installed blew, causing my breaker to arc and go off. I specifically asked the Berk's electrician about how much was going thru that one fuse because it's an old house. Guy told me I had nothing to worry about. Lesson learned. If they try and renig in a deal & try to force you in to quick decisions, run like hell.

We needed an electrical outlet for a big screen TV installed over a stone fireplace. Judy was able to get me a same day appointment. Roman was the electrician assigned to the job. He had to figure out how to get power from an upstairs bedroom, as there was no way to do it from a downstairs outlet due to the stone fireplace. When he finished installing the new outlet, you would have thought that it had always been there. He had to cut a small hole in the drywall in the upstairs bedroom to drill through a crossbeam. He replaced the drywall and plastered over it, leaving the wall with no damage. I did not think that electricians repaired drywall damage. I was very impressed with his knowledge and thoroughness, as well as his willingness to clean up after the job and repair any holes. I would not hesitate to use them again.

I had a ceiling fan issue and called for help.  Ms. Judy was very helpful and they sent a technician within a couple of days!  He took his time; evaluated what needed to be done; and suggested what I needed!  I felt very comfortable with his professionalism and asked him to move forward with the project.  BONUS:  the initial evaluation fee is applied to the work when you decide to go forward; you can get a 10% discount by visiting their website; the tech who came to install what was needed went through the process with me; made DOUBLE SURE everything worked like it was supposed to and even volunteered to vacuum my carpet after he picked up the debri!  Now:  who does that ... well, that would be Berk's!  Just like you need a good doctor; a good dentist; a good mechanic:  You NEED BERK'S ELECTRICAL as part of your team.  Reasonable prices; exceptional customer service; ....and everything works!  love and hugs, cookie
