Atlas saves the day at last. We had a sewerage back up every 3-4 months on the bottom floor and nothing helped due to a separation in the main clay pipes. We had tried clearing it multiple times, but 3-4 months later, bottom shower back up would happen again. It was identified by multiple plumbing company that we needed a sewer lateral replacement of the clay pipe. Atlas gave us a quote that was unbelievable, average of 3k saving from multiple plumbing companies. All companies recommend pipe bursting method with multi year warranty on the work.

Atlas came out in couple weeks of scheduling a time and after getting all the permits, started working.

Within couple weeks prep, and 3 days of work,

- They replaced our clay pipes with with a new 4in 70ft HDPE to the main sewer.
- Got Daly City inspection cleared.

We've not have problems ever since.

They also accept credit cards without fees! Thank you Atlas!

They came right away.  Cleared the clog and quoted me a price that they stuck with. Others don't even give you an estimate. They all say we have to come see so you never know what to expect to pay.

My water heater kicked the bucket and I needed a replacement so I found these folks as a local option. They were there 3 hours later and did an assessment, sure enough it was dead (corrosion on the bottom and pilot light non operative). After inspection, they quoted me $2500 for a new water heater (50gal, natural gas, 6yr warranty) and install. It was in 2 hours later and hot water was available again. That and they scrubbed the wall with a bit of bleach and got some superficial mold off.

Things I didn't like. First, the conversation was constantly: we usually do this for $X but we'll give this to you for $Y. I hate that and it feels scammy. Second, these guys aren't local to SF instead they operate out of San Bruno.

Overall fine service, but if your water heater dies I recommend shopping around to get some other quotes.

My compliments to Santos and Atlas for an extremely well done plumbing job. During our initial meetings, Santos took the time to carefully listen, understand the issues, and then recommend a solution. He was thorough and transparent with his answers. During the repair process, he kept me current on the status of their work. We discussed questions he had. Santos' attention-to-details, strong communication skills, excellent follow up, highest quality craftsmanship, professionalism, and being a really nice guy made this a really positive experience. We are very pleased with the results. I would highly recommend Santos and Atlas.

Thank you to Auda for her scheduling and operations support.

Jose from Atlas came to house several times while I tried to clean out elderly friends horder house. The plumbing  was either leaking in one area or blocked in another. Another sink did not work well. Jose was on time and fixed all at a reasonable rate. Then had to call him back to replace ancient toilet. All while I juggled picking up elderly friend from surgery then again going for medicine. Jose accommodated what he was trying to do with this crazy schedule. Good work neat and fast.

The service and interaction with all Atlas employees was pleasant and efficient I didn't even need to be present. I stated the main lateral sewer needed to be replaced and I preferred trenchless. Joel showed up and performed camera viewing from roof clean out-within 48 hours he determined trenchless work was possible and I was produced a quote and I accepted (I received 6)As the project day approached, Santos the lead showed up a day prior to start to set up no parking signs- note it was a holiday and he was working! Permits in hand the job with City inspections was completed under 2 weeks, Daily cleanup by the crew was impeccable. Thanks Atlas team for making this a pleasant experience!

Didn't speak English very well so could not explain to us the work he did or would do.

Kind of pricey seems like.

***Went to the front porch to give card information over the phone for all the neighbors and maybe his friends to hear because his smartphone payment machine was not working in 2023.***

Used smartphone as a light under the sink and then handed phone over to the customer to speak with office to give email over the phone. Because his smartphone was not taking payments over the internet?

Told us at first that he needed to change all of the pipes.  Then just snaked it, tightened some piping.  Still did not/could not explain what was really wrong.

Not very upfront honest feeling by the end of everything.

Overall, cannot trust these people to come into your house and then with your privacy apparently.
Their office may not be so concerned with your privacy either I supposed. So, not sure what that is worth to you but if it is important then maybe these folks are not for you.  Maybe, office people should be more organized too. But not in an organized crime kind of way though...  in a maybe they should confirm next time. Or just call the customer's number to receive the payment if the machine is not working. Or something.

We got two competing quotes to fix our pipes and replace our sink cartridge. Atlas offered a free estimate, whereas another plumbing company we got the name for charged for the estimate. In the end we chose Atlas, not just because their price was more competitive, but also because the plumbing technician, Luis, was so friendly and helpful. He really  took his time to consider the issue we were having and come up with the most logical solution. After we accepted the bid from Atlas, they scheduled us right away and Luis had the problem resolved in no time at all. Having had a lot of negative experiences with plumbing companies, it was great to have a positive one with Luis and Atlas!

I had a completely clogged shower which I tried to unclog myself and failed to do so, and that's when I called Atlas. They gave me an appointment the very next day.
I thought the price high for what took all of 10 minutes, however, the technician, Jose was professional, polite and got the job done.
Would I use them again?  Maybe, but might shop around a bit first and price out companies before choosing one.

I had a super fancy square toilet installed a couple years ago and it just wasn't comfortable. I bought a new toilet online and needed someone to replace it. I called atlas and they were great. From the first phone call then follow up text messaging to confirm, communication was easy and efficient. Would recommend.

My 20 yr-old tankless water heater finally stopped working for good and needed to be replaced- Atlas was the second plumbing company I contacted and I'm so glad I did.  SANTOS Rubio from Atlas came out same day and gave me an estimate on-site that was literally thousands less than the first estimate from Oro Plumbing.   Santos ordered and picked up the new tankless water heater that afternoon, and installed it the next day.  I couldn't be more grateful.  I had been without hot water for almost a week!  Highly Highly recommend Santos and the guy he brought with him the next day to install the water heater!!

I called Atlas for a free estimate because we suspected that our upstairs bathroom was leaking into the downstairs unit. First of all the receptionist was very kind and scheduled us an appointment for the next day which happened to be Christmas Eve. On the day of the plumbers confirmed arrival time in the morning (they asked to move up the time becasuse they were letting their plumbers off on a half day!) and showed up here promptly!! Two plumbers showed up I think one was a trainee and they were quick to look at the problem and wore mask and shoe covers. They ran a couple of options to see what may have caused the leak however we could not re-create the leak during the appointment. The plumber suggested that we wait for the leak to be active again before we try to figure out where it's coming from.

He also ran through a couple scenarios of what it could be and what we should look for and I really appreciated the honesty of the plumber without trying to have me to unnecessary work at this time. He gave me an estimate which included removing part of the ceiling. I could tell that they were very knowledgeable and answered all my questions. I will not hesitate to call Atlas again if I have any further plumbing issues.

Thank you for coming out on Christmas Eve and happy new year!

Scheduled appointment.  They told the plumber a different time then they told me.  Surprise, I was in a meeting when he showed up.  He said he'd reschedule for a time we agreed to.  Which is great! He never bothered.
Scheduled a second appointment.  Showed up and gave an estimate but said that they don't actually do the work then.  Agreed to come back at the exact same time the next day.  Never showed up.  When I called the office they said that plumbers don't do any scheduling.  They didn't seem to care.  They must have too much work and don't need to worry about helping their customers.

The left hand has no idea what the right hand is doing with these folks and I've lost literally weeks and am no closer to getting my plumbing problem solved.  Once is a mistake, twice is a pattern.
Avoid.

I, being an Architect, moved back to my hometown of San Bruno in 2019. Needed to find local SB Plumber for some work at my parent's home in 2022.  Upon several recommendations, I went with Atlas Plumbing.  Which I'm so pleased that I did.

Working with Joel & Atlas Plumbing was a great experience.  They were very responsive, professional, hardworking and reasonable priced (per the current crazy construction high-cost boom).  I would highly recommend them.

I think the attached photo says it all. These guys are the REAL DEAL. They're very good at what they do and it's not cheap to get good help. You know what else isn't cheap? A ruined house. :)

The plumbing adventure started when a huge cast-iron black water (that's sewage for the uninitiated) pipe burst underneath our home's foundation. It then ejected sewage into our garage in what could be called two miniature explosions. I mean it was literally 10+ feet away from the hole in the wall behind the pipe. Projectile sewage. Amazing. Won't share photos of that because it's honestly super gross.

I called Atlas at around 11pm on a Tuesday I think it was. They answered and spoke with me twice actually, and managed to get Sergio to come out Wednesday morning, which was great! He spent an hour rooting out some clogs under the garage so that the existing sewage water could drain out, cleaned up, and billed us for the hour ($395). He then came BACK Thursday, no charge, after the pipe burst even worse on Wednesday night and spewed sewage again. Lovely. No charge for the 2nd inspection. He agreed it was bad on Wednesday, and scheduled us for the next Wednesday, but after the 2nd explosion, he was able to reschedule us for Monday. Even better!

On Monday Sergio and his partner came out and worked super hard the whole working day (morning until 5-6ish), first removing the broken access in the garage, scoping it with a camera to see the clog, locating the damaged section by using a scanner to judge 3D depth and position from inside the house above the great --- then they began digging out and jackhammering a 2x2 foot hole in our dining room. Fun. They were gentle with everything and didn't even get the white walls dirty! They dug a partial tunnel under the floor and literally got inside to dig out around the busted pipe.

On Tuesday they came back, worked a few more hours, removed the ENTIRE pipe section pictured, replaced it with a brand new pipe, had me test all the water flow, and then cleaned up around the dig-site and in the garage. Very helpful. They finished off by sealing the hole with expanding foam and really making sure we were 100% dry in the garage where the original leaks happened. Awesome! It wasn't hard to do, but they definitely left the working area better than when they found it, which was appreciated.

And now we have our plumbing back! Works good as new. Going forward, would trust Atlas for the hardest, grossest plumbing issues in any building now. Great work!

Again, not cheap - but excellent work. Expect to get billed 2-400 per hour depending on the work that needs doing (+materials) and the number of people needed to execute the job.

Main sewer line collapsed on our one hundred year old house.  Two other plumbers/rooter services couldn't diagnose the problem.  Luis came and looked around and decided to go get the camera to scope out the problem.  Him and his crew worked 11+ hour days to replace the main line and a lateral line around the house.  His professionalism and calm during a stressful situation was awesome.  He kept me updated throughout the work of progress and any potential set backs.  Highly recommend Atlas and especially Luis.

Super Mario  8353 was awesome. He and his partner, Hugo, tolerated my dementia addled mother while they worked and everything. They even printed and posted the 24 hour water shut off signs for me (I didn't have access to a printer with the COVID-19 restrictions on non-essential businesses. As always, Atlas Plumbing does a tiptop job.  I highly recommend them!

My mom doesn't have a Yelp account.  I'm writing this on her behalf.  My mom called Atlas for a dead water heater that PG&E diagnosed with a dead thermocouple.  PG&E doesn't do repairs and advised that we look for a plumber.  My mom's friend recommended Atlas.  My mom called Atlas and they sent their repairman, Luis R, the same day.  We provided the PG&E's report and he warned us that a thermocouple has  50/50 chance of working, but he said if it doesn't work we only pay half the price of the repair.  We accepted and it worked.  He said it looks good and Atlas offers a 30 day warranty.  Luis R. was very professional and courteous.  He and Atlas are very highly recommended.

A new handle for our shower that was leaking, and a new angle stop for the hot water shut off under the bathroom sink took less than an hour to repair, and the repairs are done just fine. However, $610.00 is all I need to say. $610.00 for less than 1 hour of work!  That's more than $1000.00 an hour!  I could've had a heart transplant at those hourly rates!

We have used Atlas for 20 years or more, and have tolerated their steady price increases, but no more.  When I called to ask why so much, a rude person said their plumbers hate coming to San Francisco and so they have to charge more.  This is after using them extensively for 20 years.

I recommend using anybody but Atlas, and we have found a competent replacement on Home Advisor.

Professional. Fast. Honest.
We're realtors and, depending on the property and where it's located, will need all kinds of plumbing. In cities on the Peninsula and East Bay you'll need to do sewer lateral testing (and fixing). In places like San Francisco, on the other hand, you may work on galvanized supply lines, etc. Even if it's an after-hours clogged drain that needs cleaning the folks at Atlas have always helped us and our clients out quickly without charging an arm and a leg.

We've used Atlas for multiple issues over the last 5 years and every experience has been fantastic. Sergio helped us with our first job and we've asked for him by name every time since. In multiple cases we've suggested solutions and Sergio has presented options that would save us money while fixing the problem. We trust Sergio completely and that's probably the highest compliment I can give to someone who is providing a service. Unless we move to a different city or Sergio retires, he's our guy for anything plumbing related.

Atlas promotes their 24/7 service on their website, but when I called last night (around 9pm) with an emergency, I was told by dispatch I'd be contacted within 30 minutes by the on call technician.  I never received a call back until 8am this morning.  It's a good thing I contacted another company to get my emergency addressed.

Atlas is reliable and fast, and their plumbers are excellent. The company policy of charging very high, flat, minimum fees, however, stinks.

Today our toilet wouldn't flush, despite numerous efforts to plunge it. This happens every six months or so with this relatively new (4 years?) Toto low-flow model. Crazy. I called Atlas at 3:40 on a Friday afternoon and they had someone at my door at 4:15. Wow. Fast. He told me it would cost $195 to fix the toilet. A hundred and ninety-five dollars!!! Okay, I thought, this is the last time we'll use them; that's just too darn much money. But I needed the repair. Here's the kicker. He fixed the thing in 5 minutes--with his special plunging technique of rapid, relatively shallow plunges--which could easily have been recommended over the phone. Especially to a repeat customer as a courtesy. Five. Minutes. And still we were charged $195.

We've probably spent close to $1000 getting this toilet to flush. Atlas plumbers insist there's nothing wrong with it. Just a narrow pipe and the fact that we use 2-ply toilet paper. The plumber recommended that we flush after each excretion, even within the same toileting session.

Yes, I was the chump who agreed to the exorbitant charge. Never again.

So I needed my kitchen disposal replaced.  Altas was recommended and I gave them a call.  They were able to come out on the same day and showed up on time.  After one hour, I had a brand new disposal.   The repairman was nice and polite.  So why only 3 stars? Well the labor charge to install the disposal, which here again took about an hour, was $250.00!!  Seems hugely expensive to me, but I was desperate and shame on me for not getting a few estimates.   Then I asked the repairman about the discounts advertised on their company website.  He had no idea what I was talking about and wasn't going to give a discount!  When he was reminded there was a few different specials on his website, he was like I'll give you $25 off.  That's nice, but it wasn't the discount advised on the website which was greater.

The ballcock valve in my toilet tank needed replacement.  I asked the plumber if he would do it.  He was going to charge me $185.00, but because he was there doing another job he would give me a break and charge $140.00.  ARE YOU KIDDING ME??  Now I was just getting upset because I knew I was getting ripped off.  I declined, paid the man, and that was it.  BTW I went to Home Depot, bought the new ballcock valve which cost $15.00, and installed it myself in about 30 minutes.  You have been warned if you use Atlas.

We awoke one morning to find that water had leaked up from our sewer vent in the sidewalk in front of our house. I submitted a 311 request, and the SFPUC guy who came to check it out said that the vent had shifted and that we'd need to hire a private plumber to repair it. I saw from reviews that Atlas was good but expensive, so I decided I'd instead get estimates from some other well-rated SF plumbers. The first plumber ran a camera to check out the line and then gave me the hard sell, telling me I should replace the entire upper lateral ($7,200), not just the vent ($4,500). The second plumber took a quick look and quoted $3,850 to replace the vent. I ended up calling Atlas for a third opinion, and I'm glad I did: the plumber checked it out and told me that the SFPUC guy was mistaken and no repairs were needed. He said that it would run about $5K to replace the vent (more expensive than the others) but that there was really no reason to do it. So the expensive plumber ended up saving us money in the end! If something does end up needing repair later on, I will definitely be calling Atlas first...

Our water heater failed. Turned out to be a defective Thermocouple. Called around 4 different companies, and none had availability for same day, as they were booked (including Atlas). Atlas called me back at around 5pm, and said they could have someone over within 15 mins.

Yes... they did show up, and replaced the part successfully!!!!

Great service and a Huuuge thank you!!

We used Atlas for multiple major projects and were very satisfied. They are prompt, thorough, and easy to work with.

We had Atlas run a new gas line from the main to the house. This involved digging a trench across the street, covering it with steel plates while waiting for PG&E to lay the pipe, then filling it in and repaving the street. They were very helpful in dealing with PG&E and navigating the bureaucracy to get the project done.

At every step of the process they were communicative and supportive. They always returned our calls and always arrived when they said they would, which is not something I can say about many of the other contractors we've worked with.

Overall we were very happy with their work and would recommend them highly!

We just bought our first home in South City and the house needed quite a bit of plumbing work. I've heard a lot of good things about Atlas Plumbing so I decided to give them a call. From the very first interaction to the last day of work, Joel and his team (specifically Luis MT and Eric) were rock-stars! They were able to fix all of my plumbing issues, install a new gas line, extended another gas line, install toilets and sinks, garbage disposal. The list goes on and on. Everything was done perfectly and I'm a very happy customer. If you're in need of plumbing work, the only company you need to call is Atlas!

We suspected that our sewer line was blocked because well, yuck. I called Atlas around 10am and asked if they could come out after 1pm.  Joel, the owner, and another team member arrived promptly at 1pm and took a look and gave me a price for clearing out the line. It seemed expensive, but they were there and I didn't want to wait and call two others and get 3 estimates like you're supposed to. I'm guessing they planned to maybe spend an hour accessing and clearing out the line and also taking some images. I accepted their estimate and they got started.

Long story, short(ish), it ended up being more involved than they expected and in the end they spent about 3 hours at our place, with another team arriving when Joel and the first team member had to leave (after about 2 hours) to get to another appointment - actually, they thought we would need to wait until the next day for them to finish work on one of the complications, but the new team was able to stay and finish it. They had invested a lot more time and effort than originally estimated, but they only charged what they had estimated for the original service.

They were all very polite and cleaned up after themselves, the price seems very reasonable considering the effort involved, and our sewer line seems to be clear. I couldn't ask for more!

I'll update in a couple of months after being sure the the sewer line is unblocked and we're into the warranty, but for today: great service and price and timely!

Atlas Plumbing came out to my home in Belmont to fix my sewage ejector pump and to snake out my drain.  They were extremely professional and prompt.  Joel, with whom I first chatted on the phone prior to the visit, was very knowledgable and assessed the situation before sending his plumber out to the house.  Moe who came to do the work was a pleasure to work with.  He was very courteous and explained all of the itemized charges.  He was also very mindful of any mess caused by the work.

I am very pleased with Atlas and would recommend them to my friends for any plumbing work.  I plan to use them again for any plumbing needs.

Overdue review....I had my lateral line to the street replaced a few months ago (April 2017).....for me, an average homeowner, it was a huge, looming, not to mention expensive job that I was very anxious about. I got three estimates, Atlas landed right in the middle, but seemed to be confident, and very experienced about the job, so I went with them. They were professional from the start with scheduling the week the work would commence. I came home the night before and everything was magically transformed.....the street was already marked off by Atlas and P G & E, no parking signs were in place as well as permits obtained. I instantly relaxed as I could see they had everything under control.

The job began on time, took two days less than the original five planned. The city inspector came out, signed off on the completion without issue, Atlas replaced the displacement of lawn out to the street with fresh sod, cleaned up, and were gone! Just like that, the event I had been dreading, was over. Quickly, easily, painlessly and professionally. I would certainly recommend them for a big job like this, but also will not hesitate to call on them for any plumbing need I may have in the future. I have a lot of faith in this company after all that. A big thank you to Atlas!!

Over the phone, they guaranteed that the fix wouldn't be a problem and that the workers would arrive with everything they needed to complete the task. After being in our house for 5 minutes, the workers tried to reschedule for the following week. To us, it appeared that they were simply being lazy. When a company is not reliable, I move on.

I installed my toilet about 10 years ago, and it has done a fine job for a family of four (considering we all share one commode!).  At the beginning of the year, something in the flushing system started to stick open intermittently, but if I opened up the top of the tank and jiggled the arm a little, the excess water flow would stop.  Being the handy guy I am, I did a bit of troubleshooting and went down to my local Ace's Hardware, but I was NOT able to figure out which parts I needed, because my toilet model was actually an older model, and regular hardware stores do not carry those parts so readily. Oh well, that was enough to hold me up, and sadly I procrastinated and the occasional leaking continued for a while, until one month recently, our water bill almost doubled, and we realized that the stuck flap was causing us a big hit in the wallet!  Apparently the excess running had lasted for en entire day or night once or twice.  Now I was really motivated - that SFPUC has hiked the prices really high in the last 10 years!  I called up Atlas Plumbing and Rooter and spoke with Charlene, who sympathetically listened to my story of woe and efficiently set me up with a preliminary, exploratory visit from one of their plumbers.  Danny is his name, a personable, efficient man who knows exactly how to calm your nerves.  Within a few minutes he had diagnosed the two sections of my toilet that needed replacement and got on the phone to Atlas's parts supplier, describing what we needed, and even getting the prices so I wouldn't have any surprises.  Even though it was the end of his work day, Danny swung by that same supplier on the way back to his office and picked up my parts so that he'd have them in his possession at the very beginning of the next day. Now that's thinking ahead!  I arranged for him to come by at 9AM the next day, and he was right on time!  20 minutes later, and my toilet was flushing perfectly well again AND it's quieter, too, because one of the parts he recommended we replace, had been all choked up with tiny bits of debris that had got caught in the water flow pipe.  Our toilet is now flushing perfectly, with better force which translates into not even one occasional clogging so far.  Kudos to Atlas Plumbing and Rooter - their plumber, Danny was quick, knowledgeable and the pricing reasonable for the expertise I got.  I've told all my neighbors too.

BE AWARE!!!!! before getting any plumbing job I definitely recommend getting at least 3 estimates. Specially if you deal with companies like this one. Had a water heater job and I called them for an estimate, they sent this tech named Nick who apparently makes up the prices on each job himself with no detail of how much they will be charging and what for. Just for a heater replacement the estimate was $4300 .. But didn't specify what and what were the charges. Anyhow to make the long story short all the are is a rip off company. I ended up finding someone else that charged me $1500 for the job including the heater .

I called this morning to ask about water heater repair.  I barely got my first sentence out when the receptionist blared, We don't have anyone available TODAY.  I had not asked about timing.  I called the next  company on my list.  The lady there FIRST asked what the issue was, and then politely said her first availability was tomorrow afternoon.  I cheerfully made the appointment.  Professionalism counts in my world.

I had a great experience with Atlas plumbing when my house's sewer line clogged completely.  I called them based on Yelp reviews and the fact that they work on Sundays.

Everyone I dealt with was professional and helpful. The on-call guy Saturday night talked me through the issue, and I determined it could wait until morning. Mo showed up on time the next morning, solved the urgent issue, and explained the need for a pipe upgrade without pressuring me.

Based on his estimate, I made the call later that day to schedule the work, and everything was done by Friday. Permits, inspection, all that jazz. I'm interested in how things work, and often feel like I'm annoying contractors with my questions, but Mo was patient and helpful, teaching me how the important underground parts of my house work.

I'd confidently go with these guys again in the future.

They did great work but I felt overcharged. We were in the middle of a real estate transaction and were occupied with much so I didn't haggle about price, but there was no real invoice breaking down labor and parts because it wou!d not have computed........ But they did do good work.

Broke a small kitchen pipe and thought it was going to cost me a fortune - especially because it was a late Sunday afternoon. But Danny at Atlas came right over and not only gave me a fair price. He also thoroughly explained what he needed to do to fix not only the broken pipe but the connections.

I truly appreciate the great and efficient service! A former drummer made my plumbing disaster disappear in less than 2 hours! Also, it was great to have a local neighborhood business provide the service.

I needed a plumber in my area so I tried Google search for any that was available nearby. One of the first results that came up was Atlas Plumbing and Rooter, and after reading through other reviews, I decided to contact them.

Two plumbers were able to come out to the house later in the day. They were quite professional in their approach, checking what the problem was thoroughly before getting started. There were a few parts and fittings that they didn't have, so while one of them worked, the other went out to get what was needed

They were efficient and even made a few recommendations to prevent the problem from occurring again. They are a great service and wouldn't think twice about hiring them in the future.

We had some work done to a property and although not required by the city, we wanted the sewer checked out for any problems. I picked up a coupon from Angie's List so it cost $130 instead of $170! Ronaldo came out to do the work but unfortunately the video didn't include the front of the house with the house number which is required by the City of Pacifica. Instead the video started directly with the sewer. When I realized the problem I called the office and after several calls without follow-up, I called again and  I spoke to the office manager. She scheduled Ronaldo's return promptly. He came out and made a second video and it was done correctly.
Mistakes can happen. The downside was that the office staff wasn't taking care of the reschedule, it took the manager to get the job done.

The plumber arrived on time. He wore booties over his shoes to make sure to keep our floors clean. He was friendly, fixed our problem with our wall mounted, floating-style toilet in no time at all. Many other plumbers I called didn't know how to fix this type of toilet. Additionally, their rates were much more reasonable than the other plumbers I contacted. Definitely will use them again.

Absolute five star service. What we thought was a kitchen sink clog in our condo unit turned out to be a clogged drain line for the entire building. Within 30 minutes of my initial phone call, Sergio arrived and quickly got to work diagnosing the problem. After about an hour he had fixed the problem and quite possibly saved our unit from eventually flooding. We'll be using Atlas for all of our plumbing needs from here on out.  Highly recommend!

Sergio came out on a Sunday to help fix my bathroom sink which was clogged due to the debris from other units. It was filling up and over flowing and making my bathroom unusable. Sergio was professional, nice, easy going and knowledgeable. He fixed my sink in no time and had it draining properly.

He even cleaned my bathroom a bit too!!

Thank you Sergio!

I came home this evening (SUNDAY) to find my kitchen sink full of filthy, standing water. I baled and baled, but it kept refilling. I called Atlas at around 7:45 and they were here 30 minutes later. Juan was both personable and professional, and had the job done in half an hour. He answered all my questions, cleaned up the work area, and reiterated Atlas's written (on the invoice) 30-day warranty.
If you need quick, friendly, and professional plumbing service, I would recommend you call Atlas.

Im dedicating this review to the naysayers here that believe there are fake positive reviews for Atlas here on Yelp.

I called these guys after an O ring failed beneath my toilet, subsequently leaking through the drywall ceiling of my dowstairs neighbor.  My HOA always uses *another company* who quoted me 2 hours and $300 for the job.

by the way, they got about 3 reveiws on yelp and all of them were 1 star, so I figured I could do better.

I called Atlas, they answered on the first ring and agreed to meet me at my home the very next day AFTER WORK at 5pm.    -Just  try finding service that accomdates your job in this town....TRY IT !!!    anyway, Mark showed up on time and was in and out of there in about 30 minutes.

Excellent, fast, friendly, service...and at about a1/3 of what the other guys quoted me.

Thanks Atlas !!

p.s. Mark, I passed your # and info on to my building superintendant  :-)

cheers

Charges are ridiculous. They showed up an hour late, no apology, looked at the toilet part that needed to be replaced, went to buy it and then installed. Total time 1 hour 17 minutes. Charge $325 with no itemization. I asked them why so high for 77 mins. They adjusted to $285 including $60 for the part. I called the store where they bought the part and they told me it is $30. When I asked why they double the part price they said it's a few parts and the do mark up. When I got the exact same parts it turns out it's a kit-all parts included for that $30 and took me 10 minutes to install In our other toilet. Had they charged a more reasonable $150 or so I probably would have had them do it without checking. I checked. This company is fleecing it's customers. One and done for me. $285 for 10 minutes of work is like a doctor visit.

Two 5 Star reviews in one:

5/18/15 - Ronald Zambrano and another plumber from Atlas came to fix our sewer line. Previously two other plumbers were unable to fix the clogged line even with their 20'(?) snakes. The Atlas plumbers tried their snake from the bathroom with no success so they went to the front of the house and put a camera into the sewer line. It was like a colonoscopy for the sewer line! I watched their camera snake through the cracked pipe on their monitor. How neat!

They were able to clear the clogged pipe that two other plumbers couldn't. After clearing the sewer line, he suggested that we replace our old, cracked clay pipe with a cast iron pipe.

Mid-July 2015 - we called Atlas Plumbing and Rooter to make an appointment to replace our cracked clay sewer line. (It would take 3 days) They were able to schedule an appointment on July 27,28 &29.
On some of the hottest days this summer, 4 workers came out to excavate, remove and replace the sewer line. The next day they waited in the sweltering heat for the inspector to come. After another contractor put in new concrete, they came to pick up the clean up and pick up their caution barriers.

With their professional service, I can see why this company is Diamond Certified and BBB approved. If you need your plumbing fixed, call this company and you won't be disappointed.

Gave a review and heard back from owner who apologized up and down for the poor treatment.  I realized posting a bad review hurts a business but felt it important for others to beware just in case they ended up with the same technician.  I appreciate the owner calling and apologizing and actually gave me a refund of $100. Took the negative post down in place of this one.  I do believe people need a second chance and I will give Atlas another chance but hopefully won't need them for a while!

These guys are amazing. We had a very long sewer pipe that had a break in it about 2/3 of the way down. They arrived, explored the pipe, gave a great estimate, which they stuck to even after finding additional problems, and had the work done in a week. The crew was polite, quiet and clean. They took on the herculean task of pulling 100 feet of pipe over our kitchen roof in order to get it in place and at the proper angle. They pulled the permit and got all the paperwork with the City done within a day, including PG&E inspection prior to dig.

I think these guys earned all and more of our accolades.

The shower stopper on my bathroom faucet broke on Friday afternoon and my landlord wasn't going to be able to get the building plumber in until Monday. I was NOT going to take bucket baths all weekend so I called around to see who could come in on short notice.

Atlas was really professional and came in Saturday morning. The guys were really nice and were able to replace the faucet and the stopper in about an hour for a really reasonable fee. I can't speak highly enough of the service, especially on a weekend and at short notice!

They'll definitely be my go-to people in the future!

Fix Nothing, Replace Everything! That's our motto at Atlas Pluming.  The Atlas Plumbing guy came to my house and did not fix anything. He claimed that my both of my perfectly fine ceramic toilets needed to be replaced when really they just needed mineral deposit cleaned out. I later found out on YouTube how to fix it myself.  He also didn't address the leaking bathroom sink, leaking valve, issue with toilet not flushing without holding the handle, etc.

After I complained to management they scheduled the same plumber to return.  I left work early to meet him at 4PM.  He called at 3:45PM to say he would not be coming because another customer's job in a different city ran over. Later I followed up with the office secretary who agreed to have the office manager call me back.  She never called back and said she did not get the message.  When I called again a week later to request a refund the Office Manager said she would have the owner call me.  He never called. This is why I'm writing my first negative review on Yelp.

We had what I thought was a backed up up toilet, but later turned out to be a clog (grease accumulation) where our house connects to the main sewer line. Yeah, sewer water was coming out of our basement drain and toilet. Super fun.

Danny was friendly and quick. He came late on a Saturday. He quickly diagnosed the problem and plunged our sewer vent (out on the sidewalk) which caused a brief poo geyser about 8 feet tall! Through it all he was polite, funny and informative.

We're back to functional indoor plumbing! Thanks again Danny!

I can't say how grateful I am for this company! From start to finish the customer service was great! Thanks to Juan for going above and beyond to help not only find, but fix the problem all in one appointment! And also for being so nice to my curious little 3 year old who asked him what he was doing like every 10 minutes!! This is a company I would most definitely recommend and call again when needed!

Price was fair I would say. Especially since it was late for us to call.

Who gets excited about a plumber, right?  Well these guys are as good as it gets and in this day and age it is pretty exciting to be able to say there is someone out there doing such a fine job.  We have used Atlas Plumbing in our condo association for about the past 10 years and they are fabulous to work with.  We have worked with a number of their plumbers, Nick is one who stands out.

They make same day appointments.  They show up when they say they will.  They are courteous and professional.  They put on shoe covers before entering your home.  They explain what they are doing and give you an estimate before starting.  They very clearly know what they are doing and explain everything to you.  They don't try to upsell with things you do not need.  They don't employ the tactic of sneaking in hidden fees and add-ons into your final bill.  Their work is guaranteed for 30 days.

There is no other plumber in this city as capable and reliable in my experience and I have dealt with the brand X teams.  You cannot go wrong with Atlas Plumbing.  They are the standard for everyone else.

Atlas Plumbing saved the day for me! Top Notch Service at fair pricing. I called their dispatch at midnight and had someone contact me in less than 5 minutes. After attempting to clear the sewer line myself I knew I should call in the professionals. Nick  arrived and provided me with his plan of attack. In less than 20 minutes (using their industrial equipment) the job was completed. Nick also cleaned up the work area and gave me some tips on how to notice clogs developing before it's to late. Ok I've been saving up this review for waaaaaay too long.

These guys jobbed me. and not in a good way.

Here's the short version.  Saturday of a 3 day weekend - my toilet starts gurgling.  By late Saturday night, my upstairs neighbors feces is backing up into my toilet and bathtub.  NOT pleasant.  Sunday morning, 9 AM, call my landlord because he is super cheap and always wants to do everything himself.  He doesn't call me back and I suspect he's out of town being a holiday weekend.  I have to go take a dump at Philz coffee.

By noon, I turn to trusty old Yelp to pick me out a 5 star plumber.  Atlas has 5 stars.  But why does Atlas have 5 stars???

FAKE REVIEWS in my opinion

Now I did notice at the time, that a few people that I knew - Bucky even - and a few elites had given this place good reviews.  But I didn't really notice until later that many of the early reviews were clearly fake, people with no pictures, no friends, and 2-4 reviews including glowing 5 star reviews of Atlas Plumbing.

At least 10 of these 58 reviews have got to be fake.

This is when I lose my faith in Yelp.  I have flagged these reviews but they still haven't been pulled.  Yelp is too busy police-ing the Talk threads to police fake reviews.

Ok back to our poopy story - the guys finally show up at 6 pm, about 5-6 hours after I called.  They quote me I think it was $165 to clear the clog.  However, the small snake doesn't do the trick.  They are going to have to remove the toilet, and get out the BIG SNAKE, which becomes a 2 man job now. (two of them came to do the job)  I wasn't even entirely convinced that they NEEDED the big snake and weren't just looking to bump up the weekends pay.

Guess how much this costs??? $450!!!!

How did we go from $165 to $450?  Can you say - we've got you by the shorthairs?

Landlord still hadn't called me back, but I knew he wasn't going to pay for all of this, but I went ahead and relented because I wanted to take a shower, and let them know I was not happy with the cost.  Of course my landlord went nuts, only covering $200 of it because that's what his plumber would have charged.

The reason I will give Atlas 2 stars is that I called the owner back, and told him I feel I was overcharged and was not happy about it.  He gave me $100 back on my credit card.

Yelp has given this company a LOT of business.  But be aware they can still try and take advantage of you, and fake reviews should be deleted.

Sadly, I called these guys to see if they could unclog my washing machine drain. (Because the drain was clogged, I was unable to move my washer, which meant that the new flooring I was putting in had to wait on the washer, making this an extra-crucial fix.)

I called them on a Sunday and left a detailed message to see if they could fix it, but they never got back to me. Lame.

Obviously I haven't actually worked with them, and everyone else seems really happy with their work -- I'd certainly consider trying them again because of the overall good feedback they've gotten. But I was  disappointed that they dropped the ball when I was having a minor emergency.

As a San Francisco real estate agent, I know how important Yelp is for a small business so after the wonderful experience I just had with Atlas, I had to share. It can be hard to find friendly, reliable and efficient service providers. Plumbers have been particularly elusive for some reason.

Concerned that I had a major leak in my garage, I called Atlas to schedule an appointment. The receptionist scheduled a same-day appointment and even called me mid-day to see if I wanted to move it up since they had an opening.

Justin and his associate showed up on-time (5 minutes early) and within 30 minutes had solved my problem and helped me with a couple of slow drains. Turns out my issue was not major (luckily). They were respectful, professional and detail-oriented.

All in all, my experience was very positive.

I'll recommend them to my clients for sure.

I don't know much, but I do know how to make shit flow up-hill. -My Dad.

I was reminded of this when I woke up on Sunday and our sewer was backed up into our floor drains in the garage. Yep, every time we flushed it went straight from the toilet to the garage. You see my Dad is a plumber and always has an arsenal of plumbing euphemisms to match any occasion. I would've loved to call and have him bring his tools and sayings and help with the work, but it is a 34 hour drive from his house.

So here's the quandary. It's an emergency call ($) and it's a Sunday ($$$$$). We tried Drain-o to no avail. Do we hold out til Monday and get a cheaper rate, do we rent a snake, do we we make the call... What would Dad do?? As we say in the business Bucky, shit or get off the pot.

I called Atlas and was told it would be about three hours til they could come out. They arrived in less than half the time. As I was showing them the problem I was squeezing my sphincter tight enough to impress the Hoover Dam in anticipation of the estimate.... We can do it for about 145.  Shew... that's not bad at all. They snake the drain and are out they door in about 20 mins time. Incredibly courteous and professional throughout. I do believe we have found the plumbers for all of our housing needs... and they accept plastic!

Word up, thanks yelpers. Our disposal broke went down in a blaze of glory (figuratively speaking) the other day. I got on this here Yelp site and searched for a plumber. Came back with some serious results, but seeing that my man Bucky K gave Atlas five stars, I was left with little choice but to call them.

They came right on time, took  a look at the disposal, had it repaired in under ten minutes, and still managed some small talk with me. I'm happy, and now I can crunch up remnants of meals, apple cores and what not to my heart's content.

I recently called Atlas out for a simple job: repair or replace my bathroom shower head.  When they arrived, without even acknowledging my request, and without looking into matters further, they decided that I needed a new hot water heater, which they estimated would cost me over a grand, instead.

WHAT?!?!?!

I promptly told them, NO THANKS, and found myself another plumber.  Friendly plumber listened to what I needed done, came out, and did the job for under $100.

Problem solved.

I'm really disappointed in Atlas, but happy to have found myself a new plumber.  I guess in plumbers -- as in love -- one good experience does not a successful long term relationship make.

I had a backed up sink in my bathroom that's been giving me a problem for months. I've tried everything. Went through several bottles of Drano and nothing worked. Atlas plumbing came and worked their magic and I couldn't be more happy. The plumber was nice and did the job very fast and I'm couldn't be more thankful for the service Atlas provided. Great company and the prices was reasonable (probably less than the massive amounts of Drano I purchased to get rid of the clog). Thanks Atlas!

While I have been happy with their work in the past, I felt like they were overcharging me. Once I said no to their estimate because of the cost and they brought it waaaay down -- to about half the original. Very suspicious, but I don't pretend to understand how the plumbing business works.

But they really lose points because they set up some of their work to fail. My handyman friend opened the leaky bathroom faucet that Atlas had supposedly fixed a few weeks prior and found a very wrong and very broken down kind of gasket inside. He replaced it with the right kind (for less than a dollar) and it's been fine since. And it wasn't just a matter of accidentally picking the wrong size gasket, it was a different style and material altogether, not made for bathroom faucets at all. Sloppy work or a way to get me to call them back again? Dunno, don't care.

I've decided to give 2 starts because they did resolve the issue with my clogged bathtub; however...

    * Plumbers showed up 1 hour after original scheduled time

    * I had to call operator 3 times trying to ask for location of staff. Operator never apologized

    * Estimated $175 dollars for 10 minute service

    * Staff didn't carry any cash, so service cost was higher than initial estimate!

    * I'd rather take chance with another company than trying these folks again

I used Atlas for a faucet and p-trap replacement.  They figured out what needed to be replaced and gave a fair price.  Thanks.  Also the owner was very responsive when I emailed a question about the work.

These guys are a great example of the type of shady/incompetent service people you should NEVER call.

I had a leak under my sink (disposal) so i called them over.  They were very nice and professional and sent someone out the next day, the guy's name was MARK.

He showed up, literally took a 5 second glance under the sink, and told me that the problem was un-fixable and that i needed a new garbage disposal.

I asked him how much this would cost, he said $375.  I asked him if he was 100% sure and he said yes.  He said my disposal was 6 yrs old and time to be replaced (I have INSINKERATOR, the top disposal brand)... I told him i'd think about it.

I was frankly shocked by how fast he came to this conclusion without any attempt to look around the area with any detail.  It seemed to me this guy thought i was a total moron and he just wanted to make more money off the call.

Consequently, I had my friend who's good with home repair come take a glance.  We noticed there were three screws that held the disposal to the sink that were loose.  He said he'd try tightening them and voila... after about 5 minutes of actually looking at the issue we 100% fixed the problem.

I would have happily paid for this guy Mark's time if he had solved this.  These people are either incompetent or dishonestly trying to get more money out of a situation.

Do NOT use them and do NOT let these service people work on your place.  Even if they do a good job they're probably doing a job that didn't need to be done.

I generally dislike giving negative reviews, but hopefully, this will help other consumers make a more informed decision.    I know they have tons of positive reviews, so maybe they were just having an off day or two when they came out to my house.

Unfortunately I'm unable to give Atlas more than 1 star for some work they provided some months ago.

We had a kitchen sink that wasn't draining well and was leaking underneath the cabinet.  A very pleasant Atlas plumber came out, and charged $175  to replace the U-shaped pipe underneath the sink.  Two days later, the same sink again wasn't draining well, this time without the leak.

I called Atlas and another plumber came out (this one not so pleasant).  He needed to snake the pipe and charged me another $155.  I thought that since they had come out just two days earlier for essentially the same problem, that there would be some sort of warranty coverage or maybe a reduced rate.  Nope.

It was likely that the first Atlas plumber had misdiagnosed the problem just two days earlier and the original work was unrelated to the root cause of the sink problems.

Anyway, as if that wasn't bad enough, there was a lot of loud curse words while plumber #2 worked.  Maybe he was having a rough day, but I thought it was both unneccessary and unprofessional.

Nothing like stepping into raw sewage at your door when you get home from work.

Within 10 minutes of my calling, Joel came over and gave my sewage pipes a colonic. 30-soggy pant leg-smelly auger-minutes later and the sludge and toilet paper were on its way down the street. He even hosed down our sidewalk and garage.

Super nice, super quick.

I'd say he Be the Shit! But it's better that the shit be. . . somewhere else.

I called and left a message on a Saturday.  Within 20 minutes they called me back and scheduled an appt. for Sunday (btwn 10-12).  Ken arrived around 10:40 and took care of everything on the spot within 1.5 hours.  Apparently our bathtub REALLY needed to be snaked, and Ken snaked it about 5 times to remove all of the goods.  He only needed to snake the kitchen sink once, but showed us the funky mass on the end of his spiral thing and said it was unique.  Cool.

He also turned off the water on the washer-dryer line--we thought it needed to be capped off, but it was super easy so he did not charge us.

Total cost = $275.  Not worth the energy to shop around, so I do not know whether that was a good price for two snake-ings.  But Kens cool attitude made any potential overpayment worthwhile.  Well, and the work is done.  No more worries!  Life is now perfect!

Hooray, Ken!

Pros: They quoted me a reasonable price to fix my garbage disposal, came the same day I called, and didn't charge me for anything extra.

Cons: Didn't seem very knowledgeable. They couldn't figure out or fix my low hot water pressure problem. They claimed they couldn't fix it because my water heater is combo gas & electric, which they aren't used to. (I then called Mr. Rooter, who promptly fixed the problem - a faulty valve.)

They were reasonably on time and professional and the $225 to snake and jet a drain line seemed reasonable enough. If that was all there was to it I'd give 'em five stars but there's more.

I thought $95 per sink was on the steep side to replace the faucet washers but I told them to go ahead (wanted them changed in three sinks) but when I was told that two of the sinks needed the cartridges replaced and that would be $225 PER SINK I was shocked but at that point the sinks were all taken apart and I just wanted it done. Then the bill was presented *$895* and it was then that I realized that one of the $225 sinks was one that I had NOT asked to have done.

Snake and jet - $225 - no problem
replace 4 washers in 2 sinks - $190 - on the pricey side
replace 4 cartridges in 2 sinks (1 I hadn't asked to be done) - $450 - bend me over!!

HI!

Antonio was so sweet to wait for me to get home (I was late for our meeting). I got a new valve for $975 and it seems to work great. However, my tub was scuffed up (it is painted) in the process and I will have to get it redone.

I called to inquire about some compensation for the damage this but no response....almost an A+, but now more like a C/D.

Ok, finally got my shower situation fixed.  You know the one, where they quoted me $1,000 to replace my shower knob for the shower head leak.  They claimed my knobs were built into the wall and they would have to cut thru my tiles to get to it.

Well let me tell you how much it really cost, when you DIY!  Yes people, do it yourself. . . . the grand total of the fix was $10 y'all.  Yes, $10 versus $1,000.  All it took was a shower head shut off valve and some plumber's tape.  Weren't they nice enough to even offer me that cheaper alternative.

I highly recommend just asking friends, or go to you local home improvement store and ask for advice first.  Advice that's free and honest.

I am installing a gas fireplace and I needed a gas line T'ed off from the existing gas oven line, run along a wall and plumbed to the fireplace unit.  Note that this was a multi-unit building in San Francisco and as a result, there are specific requirements associated with permitting this install, specifically that only the plumbing contractor can pull a plumbing permit.

After visiting my unit, Atlas' quote of ~ $750 plus potential additional cost for unforeseen problems. They also requested that I have the work area prepped with the kitchen cabinet removed to gain access to the gas line and the wall opened to run the new line.

On the day of the job, the technician and assistant arrived on time.  They brought in their equipment and set to work.  After about 30 minutes, it seemed to me that the layout of the new line they were planning was...odd.  When I asked if this was to code, the technician seemed surprised and stated that if I wanted the job 'to code' it would require approximately $250 in additional cost.  While my first instinct was to show them the door, I was under a time crunch and they were on site.  After completing the project, the technician wrote instructions for the inspection on the invoice and departed.

When I called for the inspection, I was informed that a permit had not been pulled.  As noted above, I cannot pull the permit.  ONLY a licensed plumber can pull a permit for this type of work in my type of building, something I believe Atlas should have known.  When I called Atlas, the owner informed me that I had not requested a permit, and that it was going to be an additional ~$250 for Atlas to obtain the required documents.  But the owner did offer that he would not charge me for the time the technician was on site for the inspection.  The technical arrived at the correct time the day of the inspection and I got the work signed off.

So what started as a $750 quote ended up being ~$1250 when it was all said and done, and had I not been actively monitoring Atlas' work, the job would have likely have been installed out of code and not permitted.

We keep signs up in my office's ladies room saying Do not flush ANYTHING but toilet paper on each stall door for a reason, but apparently you have to pay people in publishing to read something, and so, we have plumbing issues.

I Yelped a plumber for the third time in 2 months and thankfully, Atlas's ad was running at the top of my results (totally worth it to click on the sponsors on this site, in my experience thus far).

Not only is Mark the best-looking (I think it's the glasses) and friendly plumber I've seen, he was quick to arrive, told me the cost before he did any work, and fixed the problem in under 20 minutes.

I told him Let's not do this again soon, but I wouldn't be surprised if some of the ladies around here start flushing whole rolls of paper and pens down the toilet, just to see their new crush Mark the plumber here again.

Mark was really friendly and took care of the problem. A simple snake to clear up a clog. He also spent the time to talk to us about the future installation of a circulation pump to reduce water waste and speed up hot water delivery to the furthest fixture, AND he even looked at a leaky toilet to recommend we replace the $7 ring ourselves.

He gets an A for professionalism and thoroughness but I think that $150 is awfully expensive for a 10 minute snake job.

The good: prompt as recommended by other Yelpers -- professional, explained the problem and the cost.

The bad: I don't have much experience with plumbers and I needed it fast, but it was $165 to unclog our toilet.

The ugly: They told me not to use toilet paper in the toilet. Uh, huh. I figured that it was more of a covering-their-asses sort of thing since they said there was no warrantee (made sense) and that the problem was a toilet paper clog. I thought a little humor about this would have been helpful. After all, you are recommending that I not use toilet paper in my toilet. I asked why they thought I would have a problem with toilet paper now after living in our place for 2 years-- they looked highly unamused and just repeated not to use toilet paper.

Now, we had guests when this happened and our landlord was out of town. Our toilet is a POS and doesn't flush right so I don't blame the plumbers for the expense or for the lack of a better solution-- just don't feed me bullshit and expect me to take it seriously. I thought their response and lack of irony a little off-putting. As my neighbor said when I told him-- how are you supposed to wipe your ass?!

I used Atlas twice for plumbing.  First it was just blockage in the drainge.  After clearing blockage, the plumber said that I need to redo the drainge going to the main sewer.  It would cost about 3000-5000.  I was not convinced that was needed.  So I decided to leave it the way it is.  Since then, no issues.

Second time, the kitchen water backed up in the bathtub.  Again after clearing the blackage, Atlas guy (different from the first technician) said that I need to replace drain pipes and p-trap, etc and quoted $3500.  This time, I was convinced that was necessary and callled another plumber for a quote.  I got $1800 from another plumber!!!

Obviously, I didn't use Atlas for this job and will never use them again!

Another win for Yelp.
Last Sunday morning, our toilet stopped flushing.  It was not my fault! I am a delicate little flower and all my bodily functions are inconspicuous as spring rain and ladylike... I am sure it was brutish boy that lives with me who caused the problem.

At any rate, the stress of a possible brown flood was making me insane so I searched Yelp in the wee hours of Sunday morning and called Atlas at 7 am!  I expected to leave a message, seeing as how it was not even light outside on a Sunday, but a nice man answered, told me someone would come by between 11 an 12.  Lo and behold, at noon, someone came in, unclogged not only our toilet but also our slow draining tub (a very pleasant added bonus), charged only $125 for fixing the problems and was out by 12:45!

Since then, problem has been fixed, our digestive systems are happy , fiber is back in our diet and I credit Atlas Plumbing for fast and friendly service!
Hooray for healthy plumbing!!!!

It doesn't get any better than this people!!!  Joel & Atlas are in a completely different league!

It's no fun getting a stomach bug & then having your toilet clog on top of it.  After going to a couple of how to unclog a toilet sites...yes, there are quite a few of them out there...I plunged away, added hot water, plunged some more, felt even sicker than I had before, and just wanted to crawl into bed & leave it to me cat to deal with....but, you know how our little furbabies are....great when it comes for giving a cuddle but not so helpful when you have a water crisis.

My bed may have been calling me but yelp was a little louder.  After reading Rebecca's review about how she'd had her own plumbing nightmare just yesterday and seeing that she had such great things to write about Atlas & Joel, I immediately emailed him.  It was 12:30AM by then and by the time I fell out of bed this morning and checked my mail, I'd already received a friendly response from Joel telling me to give him a ring and he'd take care of me.

I have a fair amount of experience with these little plumbing nightmares and have called both O'Grady & Bell in the past.  I'm used to paying too much for someone to come in and spend 3 minutes to clear a toilet.  They're big companies and I'm sure their overhead is higher and that's something to keep in mind.

I called this morning and Joel answered on the 1st ring.  Hmm, that's a first....the owner actually answered the phone!   I know his schedule was full for the day but he promised to fit me in sometime today.  Less than an hour later, he called telling me he was 20 minutes away from my house.  He was here in 10! ;)

Final results, drum roll please...Toilet is unclogged, I also have shower that drains perfectly since he did that as well.  It also looked like my my cleaning lady had just hit the bathroom when he left!  And, last but not least, how nice to feel like I've paid a very fair price for the work that was done!

In the past, I've never been able to remember which plumber I called last.  That won't happen again!  I've found my Holy Grail plumber!!  It also feels great to support a local business.  Joel, I couldn't be happier that you've bought Atlas!  Such a friendly and helpful guy who clearly cares about his customers!   I'd give him 10 stars if I could!!

Call them yesterday because we have a hot water pipe leak in a 50 year old slab on grade house.  I explained to them that because of the age of the house and location of the pipes (under the slab), we would like to do a whole house repiping.  The plan was for them to send someone out the next day for an estimate.  Two men showed up and after looking at the house, they said they need the boss to come out to take a look because of the size of the job.  WTF?!?! I clearly explained the scope of the work over the phone, that it will be a house repiping.  Why send someone out that cannot do the assessment and estimate and waste everyone's time?  I took half day off work for this.

Apparently this is not only Atlas.  I've contacted a few other plumbing contractors on yelp so far only one has given me a quote.  Everyone else has no response after they came out.  Is this standard practice with plumbing contractors?

Anyone reading this know of a good plumbing contractor that can take on this project, let me know.

For the past 2 years, my sink wouldn't drain, so we stopped using it.  For the past 2 weeks, my shower was spraying water everywhere and it was making a huge mess.  And this past weekend, my toilet stopped flushing.  Which was the final straw to make me call Atlas.

I called Joely at 8 am today and he was at my house within an hour and had everything repaired by 10am!  Great service, great team, and most importantly - a great price!  I pretty much feel like I have a brand new master bathroom!

Several months ago a plumber ran a snake into my clogged sewer line (from one end only), then jetted it out.  After running a camera into the line (from one end only) he decided not to continue with the snake.  The plumber wasn't really helpful, and after spending $600 to basically shoot some water into the line I felt burned.

So I limped along with a root-clogged sewer until it backed up again a few weeks later.  This time I avoided calling the plumber with the biggest ad, but instead looked on Yelp.  What a good idea!

I saw the great reviews for Atlas Plumbing, so called right away.  They came out the same day, exactly when they said they would.

Unfortunately, my sewer system (a gold-rush era relic!) proved to be a challenge.  When they needed to get to another appointment they were very apologetic, and also asked if they could return after hours with a larger snake.  There was no extra charge for the after hours work, which I appreciated.

They returned with a industrial-sized snake machine (which I hoped that first plumber would have done), and also set about jetting out the system from BOTH ends (also something the first plumber didn't do).

There were more complications - the larger snake machine wouldn't fit through my cellar door, so they could only run it from the street.  Then the snake line got stuck!  A third guy arrived to help extricate it, and there was some talk of having to excavate it (eek!) if they couldn't pull it out.

By now I'm really anxious ... but the story has a happy ending.

After much toil the three guys were able to extract a ton of roots (as well as their snake line).  In spite of the extra equipment, extra hours, and after-hours work, the bill was extremely reasonable - quite a bit less than the first plumber.

They suggested returning periodically in order to keep the system flowing until I can save up enough to replace it entirely.  That is NOT going to be a fun project, but you can be sure I will call Atlas when the time comes.

Oh, they were very nice guys too - very reassuring and courteous.

I'll basically re-iterate what many of the previous reviews have already mentioned.

I found these guys from their Yelp reviews, after all. I'm an Office Manager for a company in the Mission. Our mens restroom urinal was not flushing properly (meaning with VIGOR!). I had a plumber come in awhile ago and all he did was snake drain and said eh, sorry. So I decided to give Atlas a try.

These folks answered on the first ring, gave me a time when they'd be available to come by for my problem, showed up during said time, and immediately got to work after offering a fairly good price for the work proposed.

They were funny too.

All in all, a great experience and they will be my new plumber of choice the next time something happens, for sure.

Mark and the guys at Atlas are super top notch (even if he was around two hours late. I understand a busy Friday so he's forgiven). We had gotten four or five estimates from various companies to fix our broken sink in the kitchen. Atlas looked at the other estimates and told us which ones were crooks and which ones were legit. The thing that got our attention was the phrase Even if you don't go with us, DO NOT go with these guys. Obviously Atlas got the bid. The three hour quote they gave us was finished in an hour and 10 minutes, and Mark even knocked off $25 because he was late. Atlas my friends, you guys are saints.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go and flush a bunch of diapers filled with hotdogs down the toilet. I need a reason to call Atlas back.

They arrived on time and where efficient. I had 4 minor jobs quoted for $400. I decided not to get the last issue fixed because it was going to cause me an extra $250 for parts - just too much money for that day at this point.

My biggest gripe about the service was that:
The men that came took out the items under my bedroom sink to work on the drain and broke one of my oil vases - I saw it broken and waited for at least an acknowledgment that they did it (I was not even going to ask for money back) but, not only did they not, they hid the vase at the very back of the cabinet when they put all the items back.

Next they pretty much soaked my FLOR carpeting with water, which was a pain to dry...

I think, good service also requires honesty....I was disappointed. I should have spent my money on another company.

I called Atlas Plumbing to have my water heater looked at.  They came to look at the water heater and they recommended I get a new one.  The water heater kept on popping which was not normal.  The pilot light kept going out also.  Atlas plumbing sent out Sergio and Billy to have my water heater replaced two days later.   These two gentleman were friendly and very professional.  The water heater they installed will be last me more than 8 years.  I was very happy that Atlas is a great company to call for my water heater needs.  Kudos to the whole company for being quick professional and very customer friendly.

I was rushing to leave for the airport to fly home for the weekend. Woke up extra early to purchase a toilet auger/ snake to unclog the toilet before my trip. My earnest attempts & prayers resulted in over-flowing caca-water, panic and tears. I called Atlas, frantic, and told them I had to leave for the airport in 30 minutes. They said they'd send someone over within the next 15minutes. Mark arrived in 10.

He brought the big guns (industrial sized auger) and cleared the pipes within 10 minutes ... saving me from missing my flight, f-ing up the long-anticipated vacation, and minimizing this embarrassing catastrophe. Plus, the price was reasonable - he DID NOT CHARGE ME EXTRA for rushing over!!!

Mark is very professional, fast, reliable, and easy-on-the-eyes (which would add to the mortification factor, if he weren't also so chill about his professional duties.)

He really saved the day!

Oh Atlas Plumbing and Rooter, I love you.
Small family resource center here, with a busted toilet.

One plumber told us we'd need a whole new toilet for $850.00.  Since I have some experience with maintenance issues and contractors, I called b*llsh*t and went to Yelp to find us a new plumber.

This is where Atlas comes in.  I called yesterday, set up an appointment.  She gives me a window between 1 - 2pm.
Faren arrived at 12:55.  He went in, assessed the problem, and by 1:20, it was fixed.

Oh, and for the bargain price of $125.00.  Believe me, for a non profit agency, saving money without cutting on quality is key.

We now have a new plumber, and I would highly recommend them.

Didn't Atlas hold up the world?

Well last Friday around noon PG&E decided to do a 10 year inspection of the gas meter in front of our building in SOMA. They determined that their line to the meter was leaking and by 8:30 pm they had determined that I had a leak on my side of the meter as well.

They left me without a meter and no gas to my warehouse and livein loft upstairs. The following morning my wife suggesting looking on Yelp for a plumber. I saw many reviews but Atlas was the first place that a real person actually answered the telephone.

Audra who answered the phone was very calm and friendly even though I was a emotion wreck. She told me she would have someone out around noon that same day. Frank and Selvin showed up about an hour ahead of schedule and we discussed the problem at hand. I did not want to spend anymore than I had to and explained it to Frank. Because the pipe that was leaking at the meter was old and quite corroded since it was in the sidwalk and open to the elements, Frank wanted to quote me to replace the 2 gas pipe all the way into the building and take up about 8 squares of sidewalk. I asked if he would consider taking out a square and see what the condition of the pipe was where it was buired. If it was ok then that would be the exteent of the work. So he suggested giving two written quotes one for the easier fix and one for the worst case senerio.

Keep in mind this is a commerial building built in 1931, so this was not an easy job. He was very quick with the qoutes but I took that as a sign that he had a good idea of how to jusge the job. The worst case senerio was $ 3800 and the better case was $ 1800. Don't forget this is a 2 service not 3/4. Frank said the simple fix would take a 1/2 day and the major fix would be more like a day and 1/2. I didn't think to try to barder with these guys sinceI was happy they came out so soon and were able to start the job the following morning. In retrospect I think the bid seemed fair after considering, 2 guys, their insurance, the overhead of the company, the parts and the fact that they would get and pay for the permits with the city and they would deal with the city inspector and show back up to deal with that.

I was lucky as it turned out that the easier fix was acceptable. They did find another leak inside the building after they pressure tested the line. but we were able to agree on $ 350 for parts and labor for the other leak problem.

When you can't wait for your brother in law to come and help you with the job or you are like my and are still recovering from surgery you are not going to do this kind of a job on your own which is what i would have done when I was younger. Of course what do I know about plumbing codes etc.

Anyways I found Frank  to be very professional and an easy going guy. He explained everything they were going to do and like i said he went along with 2 different quotes. He handled everything with the inspector and was here 1/2 dat Tuesday, Wednesday and 1/2 of Thursday. I am hopefully going to get PG&E out here tomorrow and get the gas turned back on.

This was a big problem not a dripping faucet. i was glad to get proffesionals on such short notice. I was greatful that they made me feel like they were going to deal with everthing. They even did a nice job repouring the cement.

I feel like I  had a possitive experience with an unpleasant experience.

I have used Atlas several times for plumbing issues and never had a problem.  When I got a new pretty severe clog in my kitchen wall pipe my landlord asked me to find a better rate.  I found a plumber with a better price and explained the issue to the dispatcher.  When the plumber arrived he had no idea what the problem I was having was and told me he didn't have the right tools to do the job.  He offerred to 'try' and have someone else come later if he couldn't do the job.

Looking back at Atlas, I now understand you get what you pay for.  Their guys are friendly, timely, experienced, fast, and prepared.  All the things this current guy was not.  Will definitely call Atlas next time.

Great experience with Joel!  We had a nearly 100% blockage in a bathroom sink and spent most of our Friday night trying to clear it with a manual snake, even taking apart the trap.  Evidently, I managed to make it worse with a plunger.  Saturday morning, we raised the white flag and started calling plumbers.

True to the Yelp reviews, Joel answered the phone and gave us a time slot exactly when we were hoping.  He came when promised, got the job done quickly, and even reassembled our rusty drain pipes and trap, even though he could probably have tried to talk us into spending more money on replacing them.

I can tell he's good people, too, because our dog wouldn't leave him alone the whole time, even though she's usually afraid of strange tools and noises.

Friggin' awesome customer service. A few reasons:

1. Accomodated the urgent nature of the problem (clogged toilet that could not be fixed with normal plunging) by working with my schedule to get it fixed asap
2. Came right on time in the window that was quoted
3. Free, quick estimate
4. Lightning fast fixing. I'd say in and out in 5 minutes.

Everything I hoped for in a plumber. My dream of appliance service coming true. I can't think of damn bad thing to say. You need plumbing help? Need it now? Call atlas and ask for Mark.

you know what... these guys are good, but they cost way too much. Clogged toilet? 2 minutes for $145?
my advice: buy an auger, a 6 foot one for that matter, for $40 on amazon. That's it. expert plumber, forever.

I contacted Atlas after reading the reviews here on Yelp.  I had a washer that was leaking and according to the manual the hoses needed to be checked/replaced.  Since there was no way for me to access the hoses I called Atlas to see if they could help.  They setup an appointment the next morning and arrived within about 10 minutes of the that time.  The plumber spent about 15-20 minutes and determined that it was an issue with the appliance.  Even though they had come all the way out to my flat they didn't charge me anything.  I will definitely use them again since that was more than a fair charge.

Also, the plumber told me the problem was probably with a drain hose in the front which I was able to fix myself.  So they diagnosed the problem and I didn't have to pay a thing.

Our laundry drain broke and we didn't get it fixed for a number of days while we were on vacation.  After getting back, I was beginning to panic because I could count the number of clean pairs of underwear on one hand and Lord knows you're in a bad situation when you're in your bunchy grandma chonies with loose elastic and contemplating a trip to Victoria's Secret for those 5 for $25 underoos.

The boyfriend finally got on it and called our failsafe plumbers at Atlas. They had helped us out greatly over the summer when primordial ooze decided to make an appearance in our downstairs floor drain and they had also not charged us a penny for one visit they made to our house when there wasn't an actual identifiable problem with our drain.

Just as before, Joel showed up to our house at the time he said he would, charged me exactly what he quoted, and fixed the drain in no less than half an hour. I also asked him to take a look at a gas line, which he did for no additional charge and asked for recommendations on general contractors and drywallers. He refused to give me any names, saying that he wouldn't recommend any of them.

I work in the service industry myself and know that it's a hard business to be in if you want to hold on to your integrity (hence why I have none left whatsoever)  but it was really refreshing to know that the good people at Atlas plumbing are still hanging onto theirs.

I have used Atlas twice now.  Once Joel came to the rescue when I needed a gas valve installed at my property.  (I turned to Atlas after SF Plumbing came and installed the wrong thing, and then cancelled a follow up appointment.)  They arrived right on time.

The second time was for a clog in my kitchen sink.  They scheduled the appointment when it was convenient for me, showed up within the window they allotted for (between 12-2, arrived at 1:50), and fixed it within 20 minutes for $125.

I will definitely turn to them again!

Over the weekend I discovered that a drain in the back of my house had gotten clogged after the recent mild rainstorm which caused my basement music studio to be flooded. Shit! I spent the whole weekend dealing with the mess.

I knew I needed to hire a plumber before the next round of rain, but hire which one? Thank god I was able to get my computer to boot up (it was in the flood) and I searched for a plumber on Yelp. Turns out one of the most highly rated plumbers (Atlas) is around the corner from my house. I called them up and within a few hours a couple of plumbers showed up on a Sunday afternoon to fix my clogged outdoor drain.

I was given the choice of the snake for $169 or for a hundred dollars more the steam clean (more thorough). I opted for the steam clean at $269. In addition I also wanted them to clean another drain, a few feet away , since it has been prone to clogging in the past. After testing it with a hose to see how quickly it drained they recommended to clean it too. So, it was to be another $269 for the second drain. I was eventually charged $500 for the whole job, which took an hour or less. I agreed to this amount, what do I know?

Now, after doing a little more research, I'm not sure this was a good price. It seems that many plumbers charge by the hour so that would be a hefty $500/per hour for me.

I was very happy with the service, but the price seemed kinda high. But, I am VERY glad that the drain was unclogged so easily on a Sunday afternoon.

Our toilet was leaking on the bottom where the bolts connect the tank to the base.  Atlas was recommended by a friend so I called and had them come out.  Two plumbers showed up and one of them gave me an estimate for over $300.  When asked how much time he thought it would take his response was about 20 minutes.  So I asked him why his estimate was so high and his response was how much are you willing to pay?.  We agreed on their minimum fee which was $140.  They did the work and I had to call them back out because it was still leaking a day later.  Ultimately I had to have another plumber come out a week later and really fix it.  Don't ever use Atlas.

Erick at Atlas - THANK YOU!

My experience was similar to others that have reviewed Atlas.  I was called 30 min. in advance of Erick's arrival. He came equipped with a great attitude, the patience to explain his efforts to a novice like me and recommendations on drain maintenance.

My clog was 45 feet into the pipe and clearing it with his auger was no walk in the park.  He conscientiously tested and re-tested the drain after replacing the p-trap and left no greasy mess (the sludge in the pipe was gross).

I will only call and/or recommend Atlas Plumbing in the future.

Having never had cause to enlist the help of a plumber before, I was very pleasantly surprised with Atlas. I had somewhat of an emergency and Joel was able to rearrange his schedule and arrived within an hour of my call.
They were professional and quick (and clean) and gave a warranty for the work they performed.
I would recommend Atlas Plumbing in a heartbeat.

I agree with the other positive reviews.

Responded quickly.
Came in priced it out.
In & out in less than a half an hour.

They know their stuff. I wouldn't say it's resonable only because I don't really know what's resonable for a plumber, I never had to use one before. All I know is my drain works now and I'm happy.

I called them based on all the positive feedback on this site and I wasn't let down.

I called on a Friday at 11:30AM and just by chance they were in my area. Even though they were booked, they assessed my plumbing issue over the phone and were at the door in less that 5 minutes. The problem was fixed within 10 minutes (something I've been trying to fix on my own for two days).

Great service, timely and price was below what I researched

These guys are fantastic.  I have used them twice and both times they came within 2 hours of my call for an estimate and did the work that same day.  They are kind, smart, and know how to fix things in a jiffy with a positive attitude.  Their prices are fair (was under $300 both times - which was for 2 separate issues each time).

Highly recommended

Had some major root problems in our sewer line.  We tried renting a rooter ourselves from Home Depot and it didnt work.  We found Atlas on Yelp, called...and within a half hour, Mike came out and fixed the problem in less then 30 mins.  He was very nice, professional, helpful and efficient.  He didnt come off like a scam artist like many contractors do and try to get you to spend $$$$ on future work.

They were even willing to give us a credit for future work...excellent customer service, I wont even bother calling anyone else now.  Even gave us a $25 Yelp credit on a Sunday.  I would definitely recommend them.

These guys have several things going for them:
1) They show up on time (my previous plumbing company struggled with this), even for household-type repairs (as opposed to 'big bucks commercial plumbing repair')
2) They do a quality job

However... 3 stars (instead of 4/5) because they are expensive *and* sometimes the (very) expensive estimate seems totally pulled out of thin air.  The first time I didn't mind so much (they were fixing old/crappy plumbing), but the second time they were adding something to their own previous (very high quality) work. They said $675 - and then it took ~1.5hrs (2 guys). Looking at what they did + the time I really felt it should have been a LOT cheaper.

But - it's SF - and they do a good job...so 3 stars

Atlas Plumbing helps us out on our new home and a water heater issue. But the first encounter with Atlas was the video tape of the sewer line prior to purchasing our house. In both incidents, they were very polite, on time, and all of their quotes were up front and very honest.

I would like to strongly encourage anyone with plumbing issues to calls Atlas Plumbing. In the future, If I have any other plumbing issues, I know who I'll be calling. Thanks a million you guys!!

I called them with a big mess from a clogged toilet today on Sunday afternoon. call center was courteous and professional, took my name, number and address and less than an hour, I got a call from Erick who asked for details of the problem. Ok, proof positive that Yelp works.

Thursday night: Kitchen drain disposal clogs due to butternut squash peel overload.

Friday morning: Search for plummer on Yelp. Click on did you mean Plumber. Sort by rating. Click on Atlas Plumbing and Rooter. Call them. They arrive in 30 mins. Drain/disposal is fixed in 20 mins.

Best $145 I ever spent. I don't want to hear anyone complain about the price. You know you'd pay double that not to have to do it yourself.

My kitchen sink backed up on Tuesday AM due to some food that I put in garbage disposal which did not start my morning off.
I kept working that disposal & finally got it unplug but decided to still have Atlas checked it out because of dishwasher to feel secure. Frank of Atlas arrived ahead of time & this man is an angel as he ran water thru my dishwasher to assure & give peace of mind.  It is rare that you find a company that cares & will go thru the steps that gives you security & says no charge. I will definitely use this company again & will refer them to others. Ask for Frank as this man had the expertise.

Thanks for the response, but I think I should set the record straight.  The Atlas employee didn't wait for me.  He was going to go buy one for me from the supply store and charge me for it, so I figured I should at least know what fixture I am going to end up with and pick out one that I like.  He did not wait for me -we went in, picked it out, waited for the saleperson to get it from stock, paid, and left.

I looked up the retail cost of the one I bought and it is not really $224, as you suggest (except on the manufacturer's website, which is never what anything really costs).  It costs b/w $130-160 from most retailers that I found online.  And this brand was not a good one!  It was Pioneer Brand, which is nothing special - probably much worse than the major brands, including Kohler, Moen, and American Standard that ARE available at Lowe's or Home Depot.  Another shopper at the supply store looked at the Pioneer models and actually discouraged me from buying them!  My point is, this is not a higher quality model, as is suggested by Atlas.

Again, the service was good.  The price was steep.

Looked these guys up on Yelp, called them, got a call back from the owner (Joel) within an hour.  Though it wasn't a rush he redirected 2 guys who were finishing a job nearby over.  They took a shower drain that had resisted two chemical treatments, a plastic snake and my 15' metal snake and fixed it in an hour with the electrified snake.  Cost me $125 and they were professional and polite.   I am pleased as punch.

Talked to Joel who made a point to tell me that his guys are paid a flat rate, so it's not in their interest to pad the length of time for the job.  A really good experience.

In my 7 years of living in the same condo, I have had plumbing problems (leaky tub, backflow in kitchen sink due to an upstairs neighbor putting things in the sink that should not go there, bathroom sink pipe bursting from draino usage) and have had pluming devices installed (sink pipe connector to refrigerator for ice-maker and filter, shut-off valves for the bathroom sink, backflow protection mechanism in the kitchen sink).

So, I have used many plumbers.

Atlas is the only one I've used on three jobs and will continue to call because:

1. They do it right
2. They figure out problems that have stumped others
3. They do the job at the estimate with no 'surprise' add on fees. If they make a mistake, they'll do the job at the estimated fee.

The only reason that I'm not giving them a  5-star is because they never show up on time even though their appointment time-frame spans an hr, e.g., 'we'll be there between 2-3' but never show up by 3pm.

Four months ago I contacted Atlas to get a drain and sink installed in our new bathroom. The price was reasonable, the plumber came on time and came back a few days later to do the finish.
A few months ago, I noticed that the drain was unstable due to the motion of a drawer which was touching it. The drain fell twice and I put it back. In my long to-do list I had to call them to ask them to fix it up but I kept forgetting. Almost 4 months later, I finally found the invoice and called them. Another plumber came and fixed the problem in a few minutes. I was not charged for this work since they acknowledged that it was a flaw in the design of their first installation.
Great job, great service and honest people. I definitely recommend them.

Atlas recently replaced the sewer pipe from our house to the street. Ronald was the main technician, and he and the rest of the crew were great. I see someone else recently a gave a 5 star review for some similar work and pretty much all I can say is ditto. Their price was around the middle of the four bids I got, and the whole thing couldn't have gone much smoother, especially given that we ran into a few hiccups (with the city). I have recommended them to friends telling them that as far as my job when they were smart, courteous, efficient, effective and tidy.

I've used Atlas twice now. Once for a sewer line break under the sidewalk, and once for some clogged drains. I really like them and would recommend them to anyone. Only 4 stars because they aren't cheap. $150 to snake a drain, $250 for 2 drains.

But they were very nice, showed up when they were supposed to, which is a huge thing.

I had a slow draining shower.  I tried snaking it myself to no avail.  I called Atlas and they were there within an hour.  I thought it was that roots had invaded the plumbing.  They sleuthed it out that it was further up the line closer to the shower.  They could have convinced me that my plumbing in fact did need to be de-rooted and charged me for it, but didn't.  They snaked the shower and pulled all sorts of hair out that I was unable to get with my snake.  They gave me the yelp 1st timer discount too.
Many thanks.

Just moved in to a house and had 2 clogged drains. 1 in the kitchen and one in the bathtub. Called Atlas on Saturday after looking at all the good reviews. Talked to them at noon, they said they could be out between 4 and 5 pm that day. Called around 3 and said they could show up early. Got here probably around 3:15 and 3:30. Quoted $165 for first clog and $65 for the second. The 2 guys unclogged the kitchen drain in about 10 minutes and then spent another 45 working on the drain in the bathtub. The old pipes in this house are a bit outdated but they got her running freely and charged what they quoted. In and out in about an hour.

Got here early, fixed my shit quick, charged what they said they would. Even cleaned up my tub afterwards and the guys were nice. What more do you want?

Joel and Ricardo came over to our place today to put in a new Toto (toilet).  The location for the toilet was tricky, but they got it in there and then discovered that some unevenness in the floor would present a challenge.
They dedicated several hours to making sure it was perfect.  Despite the extra time and unplanned parts, Joel would not accept more than the original price quote.
I will recommend Atlas to my friends and family in the area.

Would be zero stars if allowed. Their bid for 40 gal water heater replacement  stated 40 gallons not  the model number.   I then asked for and got the model number which turned out to be  a 38 gallon water heater. The guy tried to cover himself by saying that the 40 gal ones are actually 38 gallons that's why he wrote it up that way ! Of course the 38 gal one costs less  meaning more profit for them and me not geting what I paid for.
At the same time, my concrete laundry sink was draining slowly and had a minor leak. ATLAS WROTE A BID FOR $825 saying it was best to replace that sink with a new one as they were relunctant to snake the pipe or do anything because of its age. Well----we hired a HANDYMAN who used a wetdry- vac to clear the pipe,  now sink drains perfectly, leak is gone, and OUR COST WAS $20 !!
Would never use  Atlas again.

We couldn't find the contact info for a different plumber we have used and were impressed with in the past, so we gave Atlas a call this afternoon based on their Yelp rating and the fact that they work on Saturdays. They sent out 2 guys about an hour and a half later which was within the time window they gave us. They quoted us $175 to fix our clogged bathroom sink which seemed really high to us, but we needed it fixed today so we went ahead with it.

They ended up snaking our bathroom sink 3 times to no avail, so had to cut our old galvanized pipe below in the garage to clean out decades worth of corrosion. This did up our quote to $250, but at least we got $25 off for being 1st time customers referred by Yelp. After all the time and work they did, I now think this was a pretty fair price for the job.

They gave us a quote to replace our old drainage pipe with a new cast-iron one and we will definitely consider calling Atlas and requesting that Faren come back to take care of the job when we can afford it.

We are so happy with the free flowing drain... Thanks!

I do not recommend Atlas because of their sales tactics.  I contacted them on 10/24 regarding a clogged garage drain.  They refused to provide a quote even though I told them the exact issue, and said they could assume no more than one hour of work.

They wanted me to leave work, meet the plumber on-site, and only then would they give a proposal, and would want to do the work right then.  It's an aggressive, slimy sales tactic.  They know what they will charge, but won't tell me until I'm already committed and on-site, since they know I'm then likely to say yes.  Very frustrating.

Hello everyone!  I got stuck a few days prior to my b/day with an ailing boiler that would not start; it did and then stopped refusing to give us hot water :(  PG&E came over; fired it up, only to have it go down again, a few hours later.  Atlas was contacted and within a few hours, Justin came over. Let me firstly mention Audra who could not have been more helpful, kind and caring!  She was so determined to get this working by my b/day :)  Then Justin came through, diagnosed the issue, returned with the correct, ordered parts, and with someone to help him, installed the new unit, but it took them a minute cos the boiler was still being difficult - they managed to get the part working which then provided the house with water DAY of my bday and it was very kind and swift.

Their customer service skills and culture of helping people with due diligence, care and expertise were definitely something I wont ever forget. You will be taken care of, and they will remember your name and follow it up with a call to ensure that all is well.

A HUGE special thanks to Audra (who is magical and skilled), Justin (so kind, charming and great at what he does), Anthony and Charlene who all as a team, are top notch and memorable. These guys are as good as it gets - Thank you all SO much for saving me that day!!!!

Second consecutive time their technicians arrived late to my rental property. This time, with no apology or information prepared on the work I specified needed to be done when booking appointment. I use to be able to call the company and speak to the reception in order to get an update on arrival time. Today their answer was, we can't give you that. I appreciate their one hour window for service, but if they're going to show up late--- what's the point? I'm not a fan of sitting outside my rental property for over and hour.

Called at 6:45 am about a blocked bathroom drain in the Inner Mission.

By 8:15 Ronen and Roberto arrived, were courteous, correctly
dismantled the overflow to get access for the electric snake .... worked hard grinding away (one works, the other watches) and removed lots of hair.

They correctly ran the snake out the full length, and demonstrated the free running drain afterwards.

A snip at $165: at least about as painless as these things get.

To avoid pestering my building manager for a plunger, I bought a super duper plunger that can make the tightest seal and create suction like it is about to blow the toilet lid off! Alas, two days of plunging, the clogged toilet was unresponsive to multiple plunges.

Crap, gotta catch a flight. Oh well. I hope the clog does not crust over.

Back 3 weeks later, still walking the walk of shame and perusing through Yelp Plumber reviews, I call up Atlas Plumbing and Rooter after hours. The technician was about to get off of work, and he offered to come within an hour instead of the next day. He arrived promptly. Never sneered at the gross-ness of the toilet. Snaked the sucker. Threw wads of toilet paper for quality assurance check. Offered a 30-day guarantee. And quickly jotted down the plastic number. Fifteen minutes and $145 later, I still walk the walk of shame, but hey the toilet is fixed. Much relief!

Efficient, reliable, and quality work. But the rate is double from what I paid another plumber. But I decided to use Atlas over my previous plumber because the previous plumber has to haul himself all the way from Pleasanton. My justification? I paid extra for instant relief and satisfaction.

I called Atlas for an estimate on a new water heater. They came the next day and were on time and efficient. Their price was reasonable and the estimator was nice. I did not choose these guys in the end, because I was a bit skeptical on the water heater he recommended. My neighbors all have there heaters on platforms and Atlas was recommending me to not have one. The other two estimators recommended the platform for gas heaters. This would be the only reason why I didn't choose Atlas. Otherwise, very professional and fair prices.

This is also a diamond certified company, which doesn't hurt when you need to report issues.

So after having some bad experiences with various plumbing companies throughout this town, Atlas Plumbing and Rooter came to the rescue.

I thought my days of finding a reliable, honest, and affordable plumber was too far fetched but I was proven wrong.

They came on time, diagnosed the problem quickly, did the work the same day and offered sound advice; they even showed us how to do a minor plumbing repair on our own.

Their fee was very reasonable compared to another plumbing company, and that's because they are small & family owned and we should all hope they stay that way, because that is what keeps the work level high and the cost level low.

They've become super busy since the Yelp craze but they understand the importance of staying local, honest and fair.

Thank You Atlas!!

As I work for the Building Dept., I have come across Joel when he pulled a plumbing permit in the City I used to work in.  He impressed me for being a sincere and nice guy so I decided to call him to fix a somewhat difficult leak problem to my mom' s kitchen.  Due to the time constraint and complexities of the work, he gave me a very reasonable quote and rescheduled the work the following day.  The next day came and he was right on time.  He and his crews worked hard on our kitchen sink up to the late hour.  At the end of the day, we were all happy for there is no leak, the plumbing fixtures look really nice and we found a very reliable, dependable and trustworthy plumber.

I hope Joel and his crews will never change.  It shows that he really cares for his clients.  One thing I know for sure now, if ever I need a service of a plumber or if ever someone needs a referral for a plumber, there is no question, I will call and highly recommend Atlas Plumbing and Rooter.

These guys were great: fast, friendly, and they do good work. The place was as clean as when they came in.

Another satisfied customer. Thanks Yelp.

UPDATE: downgrading one star after realizing my hot water heater was not supplied with a permit and was not installed to code. Going to check back with them on this.

The water heater in our condo complex blew up in my first week of living there...aaah, the joys of home ownership.  Called Atlas to come out and give a quote and they were very responsive, provided the best price and did the work when they said they would and at the price they quoted.

Professional, quality work...'nuff said.

Called past midnight to schedule a fix for a clogged sink that my self-help attempts had made worse. Since it wasn't an emergency, they told me they would be here today (Christmas Eve) between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m.

Ronald showed up at 8:30, explained what was wrong, and finished up within twenty minutes.

All for a reasonable price. Highly recommended.

Joel and his guys from Atlas are awesome!

It was Oct 2008 when I discovered that my water heater was leaking (Okay, so, I finally made time to write a review...about two years later! Sorry Joel).  So, I hopped on yelp to see who was getting great reviews for water heater repairs/replacements. After several hours of reading various reviews for various plumbers, I finally decided to call Atlas. Joel answered and was very helpful and professional over the phone. He gave me a time frame that he would arrive (1-hour window), and he was there within that hour!

He gave me a free estimate on the leaking water heater and we both agreed that there was no way of repairing it, and that it would have to be replaced. I really had no choice but to replace it...I didn't want to take a cold shower again! So after some discussion about the cost for a new water heater and the fact that I found him on yelp, Joel worked out a really great deal for the water heater, the installation, and the disposal of the old one.

So, if you want professional and timely service at a reasonable cost for your plumbing needs, call Atlas and work with Joel!

We can always depend on Atlas when it comes to emergencies.  Issues arises at the most inconvenient times.  Other plumbers mostly responded that there were no resources available and had to wait for few days.  But Atlas always responded and provide quick solutions and repairs to all our needs.  This is truly a mark of a Diamond Certified vendor.  Thank you very much.

These guys couldn't be any nicer or more efficient.  Their prices are totally in line with the other places, sometimes cheaper!  However, they actually return calls and keep appointments!  We've used them twice to excellent results.

What's more, after calling late on a Sunday night and leaving an SOS call, they called back about a half hour later apologizing profusely for missing my call.  They showed up about a half hour later and clear our basement lake in a half hour.  Even better, he quoted the price before doing the work and they give a thirty day guarantee on their work.

Man, if only other service providers were anywhere near as good!

After reading great reviews from Yelp, I decided to call Atlas for an appointment to get my gas line re-piped so that I can install my stackable washer and dryer.

Setting up the appointment was a breeze.  Customer service is pretty good.

The guy (sorry forgot his name) shows up on time, according to this appointment window.  At first he quoted me a ridiculous price ($300ish), but I managed to take that price down to $200.  I thought for $200 he would re-pipe the gas line and hook up the dryer.. but I was sadly mistaken.  The $200 only included re-piping 8 ft. of gas line.

The whole job took less than one hour (parts and labor included). The workmanship was very professional and clean.  Checked for leaks and re-lighted the water heater pilot.  The guy also helped me remove a stubborn over hanging cabinet, for which I tipped him an extra $20.

Since my house didn't blow up yet ... I say good job at a reasonable price.   Overall four stars!

You have to wonder when you fax and mail a letter to the owner what the response will be. Well after 3 months I sent a letter and fax and I can tell you. He called late last Thursday to talk to me. I called back Friday, of course he wasn't there. I was told he would get the message and call me back Monday. I waited and got not call Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday. I decided to call back Wednesday. I was told he would call me back. It is now Thursday. Still no call. This after they snaked our pipes at home and broke a pipe. This flooded our basement and damaged valuable stuff. It made big smelly mess and I am sure caused some mold damage. Thus my opinion is 1.. Report them to the better business bureau. 2... Take them to court. If anyone has any other advice please offer it up.

We own a 2- flat house on busy Fell St. and have used Atlas for major drain pipe replacement as well as routine plumbing issues.  Today my tenant called in a panic that her toilet was overflowing and plugged.  Atlas was there within 20 minutes. The plumber checked it out and realized the tenant actually cleared the plug herself before he arrived.  He would not accept a fee for coming out.  This business is honest, courteous, prompt, and professional.  This episode and all past times we have used Atlas has led me to recommend them without hesitation and we will use them for all plumbing business in the future.

I called Jose at Atlas on Saturday morning. He was busy and said he'd come between 5 and 5.30. They arrived with their high pressure water machine at 5:15 and my drains were clean and happy by 6pm.

Not cheap but I prefer reliable and efficient in an emergency plumber.

Fantastic service.  I called Atlas because the reviews on yelp were so great.  I had already called about 4 other plumbers who said they were booked for the night!  I needed someone to come out at about 10:30 pm.

Joel got to my house VERY quickly and diagnosed the problem in about 1 minute.  Quoted me a price and finished the job in about 10 minutes.  I then had him repair another problem with my toilet and he finished that pretty quickly also.  I was so happy to find someone responsible and not creepy at that hour of the night.

Thank you so much!

I just had my first experience with Atlas and they were great. My sink was clogged and my toilet flusher was being funny so I gave them a call at 1:35 and they were here by 2. Mark is the guy who showed up and he is super nice. He did a once over and quoted me at $140 for the sink and $70 for the toilet because a part had to be replaced. He finished in under an hour and told me to give him a call if I wasn't satisfied with the work.

I'll definitively use Atlas again if need be.

After leaving voicemails with about 4 other SF plumbers, Mark picked up the phone - said he'd be there same day by 3pm, and he was there at 2:40.  Diagnosed and fixed the problem in under 30 minutes - and cleaned up the mess as if nothing happened.  And get this - he cut me a deal unlike any other ever provided a homeowner - I can't say too much more per his request, but suffice it to say that he gave us a Christmas present!  Awesome!  And only two of the other deadbeats even bothered calling back - the next day!
Nice work, Mark - thanks for being a plumber!

I wish I could give this company 0 stars.  They came to fix a toilet that was leaking into the unit below us.  The toilet was removed and the repair completed.  While the repair seems to work, they managed to make a massive chip in the bathtub in the lower unit and our bathroom was left a complete mess.  There was dirt left everywhere on the floors, walls, cabinets, even the grout in the bathtub was made extremely dirty and left stains all through out the bathroom and even in the hallway.  They offed us $50 off for chipping the bathtub when it would probably cost $250 to have it fixed.  Don't hire this company.  They are unprofessional and dishonest.  I wish they would've never set foot in my house and they never will again.  Do not use this company!

I would have given Atlas and the very nice and efficient plumber, Nick, 5 stars if it wasn't for the outrageous price.  He was here for 1 1/2 hours and the charge was $700 and that was with a senior discount!  They did answer promptly and were there the next day so we didn't have time to have other plumbers come out and give estimates.  I think these large companies who are Diamond Certified do good work but the prices are just too high.  I would have hired a plumber who works on his own; even $150 an hour would have been reasonable.  I will say he fixed the problems.

Last week Nick came to diagnose and fix a dripping shower head. He was straightforward, pleasant, honest, and helped me weigh my options--and in the end solved my problem by replacing a washer. The fixtures are old with an unusual configuration, and two previous plumbers had told me we would have to open up the wall and re-pipe because they couldn't get at the washers. (The re-pipe specialists were not interested in a job that didn't require re-doing the pipes for the whole house, otherwise I would have unnecessarily gone with them and over-spent by thousands.) Nick very persistently and thoroughly finally got the old faucet handles off (which the previous 2 plumbers never figured out how to do), and replaced the old, shot washer. No more leak! Fantastic. Still feel great when I see the drip all gone.

We had Atlas come out to replace a couple of toilets and install some faucets. First,  I really appreciate that they have a full-time answering service, and that they actually responded to our call within a few hours (unlike some other plumbers who never even called me back after I left a message). They came by for a quick estimate and we were able to schedule the work just a few days later, and they got the work done quickly and efficiently. I would highly recommend them!

They came, they saw, they fixed.

They came within the specified hour. Our sewer line was completely blocked; it took about 1 minute to diagnose and tell us we could have the city fix it for free because the blockage was in the city line, or they could fix it now, which they did. It took about 20 minutes. I guess maybe it's a little costly, but honestly, what price indoor plumbing?

Found these guys on yelp, as the water was leaking into my basement. They came by pretty quickly, were totally mellow and not freaked out by our dogs (some service folks insist we lock them away even after learning they are friendly), and they got right down to work and fixed the leak.

I'd call them again if I need a plumber.

Old house + old plumbing? Atlas to the rescue. I've used Atlas several times over the last few years, but most recently for a broken water heater. Joel, the owner, and his guys came out right away, figured out it needed to be replaced, and gave a very fair price. I shopped and the biggest competitor on yelp quoted $400 more. The installation was a cinch and they made sure to do it right - from the top of the line Rheeme heater to making sure the area was swept and clean. Love these guys.

I call this company because Saturday at 11:00 pm my son found out as my bath tube was flooded and my toilet was over flowed , so , I try to contain the water and right away try to reach one company who can assisted me on that matter. I was checking and checkin but must companies were close and some what say open 24/7 didn't answer . Finally this Atlas company some lady answer me and put me on hold , wait and then take my information and told me some one shortly will contact me, at that point , everything was ok. around 11:20 some guy just call me and with very bad attitude ask me what's going on. I try to explain quickly the situation and his answer was AND FOR THAT YOU CALL ME AT THIS TIME?  Helloooo!!!! maybe for you is not an emergency but for my , it is. I answer him . if you don't want to be bother why have 24/7 service. I just to let you know , the problem was big and you lost almost $8000.00 . Other company was working today and will be finish tomorrow. Big mistake.

The job:  a leaky toilet and a loose sink plunger.

The one star rating is for the free estimate.

Completely unreliable.  This company cancelled our appointments twice at the last minute.  The second time they cancelled they were an hour later than the original time and called to say they forgot to order the part necessary to complete the work so they would not be coming.

Another company came out within 30 minutes and fixed the problem within an hour for 20% less than the Atlas estimate.

Why does it always seem you need a plumber on the weekend?  I've called Atlas twice on the weekend and they've arrived within an hour.  Most recently my home warranty company sent out a hack to fix my shower valve and he left the situation worse than when he arrived and said he couldn't get back for a week.  I called Atlas and Mo came on schedule and had the problem fixed in half an hour for under 300 bucks.  Apparently my warranty company was satisfied, as well, because they authorized a reimbursement for the work.  Even simple plumbing fixes are hard for home owners to DIY.  Save yourself the trouble and call Mo.

I called Atlas because of the all the great reviews on Yelp.  We had a toilet that was leaking and were able to stop the leak by turning off the water supply right below the toilet.  We have a second bathroom so it wasn't a dire emergency.

The great thing about Atlas is they came within 24 hours.  And that is the only reason I am giving them 2 stars.  The serviceman who came to our apartment said that he needed to turn off the water supply for our entire building (we have six units and we have to schedule when we turn off the water for everyone since someone could be in the middle of laundry or dishwashing or...).  He quoted me a price of $250 and he showed up on my doorstep without any tools.

It turns out I had another plumber coming (hadn't cancelled the appt. yet) so I decided to wait for a second opinion.  Early the next week, Liam from Caccia Plumbing came.  Liam showed up on my doorstep with his tools, put baggies on over his shoes before he walked into our apartment, and quoted me $150 to fix our toilet.  He didn't need to turn off the water supply for our entire building and had our toilet fixed within 30 minutes.

If it's a dire emergency, Atlas sounds capable of fixing the situation based on all the Yelp reviews.  But from my experience Atlas is overpriced and I am not sure how knowledgeable all their staff people are.  If you can wait a couple of days for Caccia Plumbing to send someone out, I would highly recommend you do so.

when you think you had a shitty day, remember someone always has it worst. on your birthday, dont be sad youre one step closer to death, be happy that you have older friends who are even closer. when you get dumped by your girlfriend, remember, some homies probably getting cheated on by some no good whore with his brother/father/best buddy....

when you think you had a shitty day, think of me.

so another emergency at the parents place. after a normalish work day saturday afternoon, i head over there to check out how things are.

i feel fortunate that i live so close and can drop by every so often.

i hook up my laptop and download some software so my dad can keep an eye out on the warehouse and the employees at home. i tighten that screw, fix that leaky facuet, replace furnace filters.....etc etc. i ask my mother to come downstairs to tell me about some old paintings we have. theres some water damage i want to repair, but i want to get a judge of just how important and valuable they are... they are downstairs....

wait whats this smell!!?!??!!? i track it down the the vents going into the storage below the wine cellar..... wtf?!?! the doors wide open.

OH GOD NO!?!?!?!

so one floor of the house is below grade. needs a pump and septic tank. this is an OLLLLLDDD house. we had the septic tank and pump repleced not so long ago by joel and his crew at atlas. they did their best to work around an ancient home. everything worked fine. was just perfectly fine...

but pumps work.... ONLY IF PLUGGED IN!!!! who the hell unplugged the pump and plugged in a work light here!?!?? wait, theres golf clubs missing. oh wait, yeah, my older sister kept asking me to go golfing with her while she was visiting. she mustve grabbed some extra clubs from down here and unplugged the pump and plugged in that lamp.

shitty day? want to hear about shitty days? think about six inches of waste water flooding a storage area. thank god theres a huge slope and most everything stored there is out of the way. i ended up flooding the place with a garden hose, used gallons of 409 and ammonia to sanitize the place.

i called joel. holy crap. he remembers where i live? good memory. on a saturday, he had a crew out to me in a couple hours. they unbolted the pump, cleaned out some crap in stuck in the tank, reprimed it and set it back up.

timely, professional and cleaned up a shitty situation for me. nice

Atlas was professional over the phone, and showed up on time for the consultation about installing a tankless water heater.

However, the plumber who came out kept telling me about additional work that was required by City code. I checked with the City Plumbing Inspection Department, and learned that none of the things he said was required by code was actually required by code, and the one shortcut he proposed taking was not allowed by code.

Perhaps Atlas is fine on a typical maintenance kind of job, but their knowledge of City regulations related to tankless water heaters did not inspire confidence, and made me wary about their business practices.

I called Atlas to do some plumbing work for a remodel and they came out on time and gave an estimate and sent it over very quickly.  Everything was going great.  The estimate came in very high (but that's alright, I expect that) so I wrote back asking if we can drop a few of the things and just have them do part of the work.

I also noticed that the work didn't include any permits so I asked if he could update the estimate to include permits.  After this point I never heard back.  I emailed a few times and called a few times and they won't return any calls or emails.  I'm not sure if he was just avoiding the permit work, or got too busy or what, but as soon as I mentioned permits he flaked.  That makes me very skeptical and I don't think I will be calling them again.  I don't want to deal with work that is not permitted.  Do not use Atlas unless you want to break code.

Incompetent. Called Saturday afternoon for an emergency gas leak. Antonio, the technician responded in 2 hours and in about one hour said he fixed the issue. When PGE came out to inspect, the issue had NOT been corrected. Called Antonio back, heard back from him hours later and he was not able to come out until the following morning.

Called Atlas the next morning and a different technician was on who knew nothing of our problem and made the problem sound much larger than it was. I asked why Antonio did not test the line after working on it, and John, the current technician said he didn't know. Come to find out, Antonio did not have a testing gauge on him - which is standard procedure.

After much discussion about the size of the job, and saying that no supply store being open on Sundays, John agreed to come out and look at the leak. WHen he got here he was very dismissive and pointed out many more problems than Antonio did. John said he did not know what a valve was for, and if it was essential or not, and also wanted to change the direction of the pipes from a curve to a 90 degree angle. I asked him if that was code and he said no. Basically he had no good reason to change the current configuration, he was making what I feel were excuses.  He then said he could not correct the issue because he had no threader and no parts. I asked him to go to Lowe's which was less than a quarter mile away. He said it would be expensive as I'd have to charge you for my time which I agreed! I mean, this is an emergency! I have no hot water, laundry, dishwasher and not to mention HEAT with an infant child in the home! He had no sympathy and REFUSED to go get the parts to work on the line.

I called another plumber out who was much more professional, fixed the issue and pointed out that Atlas improperly dismantled our hot water heater, voiding the warranty.

I would NEVER recommend this company for an emergency gas issue. Regardless of the sheer incompetence of John and Antonio, their answering service was very frustrating to deal with and pages were returned in 30-40 minutes.

I am doing a remodel so I called Atlas to bid on the plumbing work. It started out well. We scheduled an appointment for the very next day, showed up on time, were thorough with getting an accurate estimate, including suggesting a camera inspection to figure out where we can tap into the existing pipes. Gave me a discount on the inspection. It could've been cheaper elsewhere but since they were already here, i agreed.

They were unable to open the main cleanout and the wrench slips while trying. No biggie, wrench slipping happens. So they go to another cleanout to do the inspection. Once complete, they gave me a quote on the spot, which is a plus.  They were pricey which i expected given their certificate & awards in this and that. Who wouldn't capitalize on that?

The trouble came after they left. I noticed  the main cleanout missing chunk of the square nut. Yes, the slipping wrench had taken out a chunk of the nut making it impossible to open now. It's old pipe so it happens. But the fact that they failed to tell me, who knows what else they'd try to hide if I hired them. I will be looking for another plumber.

I called at 7:30pm for service because of a clogged kitchen sink.  The guy on the phone was very polite and promised service within an hour.  By 8:30 their service guy showed up, unclogged the drain, and was gone by 9pm.  He did a good job, was polite, neat, so I have no complains about the actual service.

But I was not told on the phone just how much more it would be for the after hours call.  Once the tech was there, he quoted $225, which I feel is outrageous given the simplicity of the task.   I called at 7:30 pm, not 1:00am!!

I am taking off two starts for what I feel are outrageous prices.  I should have waited until morning and called Urgent Plumbing.  They would have done the same job for $125.

The Bottom Line:  good service, polite techs, way too expensive.

I called them because I needed my main sewer lateral line cleaned out.  I called and mentioned the $69 price on their site. They said they would send someone to take a look.  They came by and agreed that I needed to get my main sewer lateral cleaned.  Then then quoted $200 and handed me a coupon for $50.  They denied knowing anything at all about the $69 price on their website or that I mentioned on the phone.  Finally, i pulled up their website and showed it to them to which he responded, Oh, that is San Francisco only.  I asked him where it said that and he said he didn't know.  I sent them on their way and called someone else who doesn't practice bait and switch.

Note to all, their website promoted prices are scams.

Well, Atlas seem to be very nice and helpful, just not good at asking questions or remembering appointments.
My instantaneous water heater was only igniting occasionally. So, I thought I'd get some experts in to fix the problem. I called Atlas and made an appointment on a Friday with a two hour window. Took the morning off work to wait in.
Two and half hours into the two hour window: nothing, no arrival, no phone call. I call Atlas and ask when is my plumber arriving? The very nice woman at the other end of the phone knows nothing about it. Apparently, it didn't get noted or put on the schedule. She is very apologetic and offers me a 10% discount, which swiftly moves up to 15% when she tries to make a new appointment. I relent and decide to give them another chance.
I change my plans again to stay at home on Saturday morning to wait for my experts to arrive; and they do, two minutes into the hour-long window.
Joel asks me about the problem. I explain about the temperamental ignition unit and open the cupboard housing the unit. He asks me to run the water (which is the trigger for the ignition to kick in).
Then, he says What make is this water heater?
I respond Bosch.
Oh he says, We don't work on Bosch.
Call me old-fashioned, but isn't that something they should be checking out when the appointment is arranged?
Give him his due, he was also most apologetic and gave me a card for complementary service up to $150 at some point in the future. But, I wasted two whole mornings that could easily have been avoided, just through their sheer incompetence and still have a broken water heater. Can't say it fills me with confidence in their ability to do what they say. Beware.

I'm was about to give these guys four stars but then, as I wrote the review below, I realized that the aspect I note at the end of the review was a big enough issue for me to downgrade to only 3 stars, despite all the good stuff I note at the front end of the review.

These guys provided great service for a big sewage problem.  They temporarily fixed my drainage issue and gave me a quote to permanently fix it that was around half the price of quotes I received from other plumbers.

When I committed to the job, they started the work immediately - on a Saturday, no less - got all the permitting and inspection done and finished the job on time and at the quoted price.

The one reason I did not give them 5-stars is that when filling in the hole they dug in my driveway, they replaced the previous paving with poured concrete meaning my driveway now looks a bit crappy.  Wish they had taken the time to remove the paving rather than jackhammering it and then they could have used the same paving after filling in the hole.

My water heater was out, so I called Atlas on Sunday.

Ken from Atlas answered my call at 11am and scheduled me for a 2-3 appointment.  No one showed up and although I tried calling four times, the Atlas phone was never answered (just a message that the user's voicemail is not setup).
I finally got a call back because you showed up on my caller ID.  Ken seemed to have no memory of speaking to me, put me on hold, and then said he would be there at 5.    At 6 he and another plumber arrived.  At no point did he acknowledge or apologize for the no show appt.

Upon glancing at my water heater he said I have a tough model to work on that probably needs a $600 control valve that would take a week and a half to receive.  And he said after all that the control valve may not be the problem anyway.   He said he could install a new water heater tomorrow though (of course).

I'm SO GLAD I went with another contractor.  I found one experienced with my model.  The part Ken suggested isn't necessary, and if it is, it can be overnighted on UPS (we checked).  And the new plumber found out I have a problem with our exhaust flue.

The new plumber showed up on time - even called to offer to come early.  I've been without water for four days, but if I would have wasted $3000 on replacing the water heater with Atlas, and still had a clog in the flue.  Instead the fix will be under $1000.

i found these guys through Yelp as well.  I needed emergency service to fix a leaking toilet tank wall connector pipe.  I called Atlas at 1020am on Sunday, and Joel was here by 1035am.  Impressive.  His quote estimate over the phone was less than the other emergency services (and almost the same as the normal day to day service rate from other providers).

Joel came over with the parts, but then it turned out that my unit did not have a water shut off valve (there is one for the entire building, but not for the unit).  So, we called building maintenance who said it would be Wednesday or Thursday at the earliest to get the water turned off.  Joel stuck around, informed us about what he would have to do, stayed with his original quote, and said he would come back Thursday to complete the job.  Oh yah, and no Service Charge for showing up to take a look at it (other places charge like $30 to just show up in the event a job is not done at the same time).

I love YELP because its much easier to find good service providers like Atlas and the movers we used (Pat Ryan).  Thanks to the fellow yelpers for posting the reviews.  I'll finish the review once Atlas comes back, but so far, 5 Stars.

I called in the evening and two guys came out at the time they provided.

The plumber recommended a camera inspection ($250), tried the kitchen sink but the pipes were too small; he found another 4 inch pipe in the back yard and ran a camera through there, they said they found a crack in the pipe and need to open the subfloors of the kitchen, break through the cement, and replace the pipe.  They gave me a reasonable quote but I had to get a second opinion, and when I did, the issue was nothing what Atlas described it to be.

I looked at the live image and I honestly didn't see a crack (just dirt and gunk in the pipes); they didn't provide me with a CD recording (I guess it's not mandatory for them to give it to the customer).  The other plumbers who came asked to see it b/c they didn't feel that it was necessary for me to pay for another camera inspection.

Yelp Special $25 off new client service is ONLY FOR REGULAR BUSINESS HOURS, doesn't work if you call for emergency service during after hours.

In a word, superb.

I was nervous about calling a plumber without a personal recommendation, but almost every freelance plumber had completely failed us - didn't return calls, never showed up, etc. So I turned to Yelp and found Atlas. I was then plain lucky -- a neighbor had Atlas out that very evening to fix a shower and I saw the vans outside, so I was able to meet them and get a personal quote. It was reasonable. More than I'd wanted but (I now know) far lower than typical. In fact, a bargain.

That's the background, here's the review: these guys rock (to quote my four year-old). Having given a quote at 5pm on Monday, they booked the appointment for lunchtime Tuesday. And they showed up on time. I've never had that with any other service. Joel answers his own phone. Every time. No matter what time. I love it.

They did everything we wanted for exactly the quoted price. And they even threw in some extras. They were polite, clean, careful. Basically, everything you DON'T expect of a plumber.

Don't spend time trolling through the endless reviews on Yelp to try to see who is gaming the system with fake reviews. Just call Joel.

I found them through Service Magic.  I had a minor leak coming from the base of my toilet that required the wax ring to be replaced.  They charged me $125 and included a 30 day warranty.  They were prompt and professional.  I also met the owner Joel Ledesma.

So far it's been a week and no leaks...

It has been just over a month now and there is no leaking from the base of my toilet.  I'd say they did a pretty good job!

It's been 5 months now and no issues.  They're alright!

These guys really do guarantee their work! Atlas did some work in our bathroom about 25 days ago.  When the bathtub started acting up again, they came out the same day and fixed it for no charge. Mark offered me some of his professional opinions and told me not to hesitate to call if I have any problems with it in the future.  (Although I will be happy if this is the last time I HAVE to call them!) Great customer service!

I called on Superbowl Sunday as we were having a problem with our kitchen sink draining for the last several days. It was somewhat urgent given that we were having 60+ people over for a party.

Thankfully - Mustafa showed up and did a terrific job unclogging the sink and doing so with urgency such that we could put everything back together before the first guest arrived. Perfect.

Thank you to both Mustafa & Atlas plumbing for getting us back up and running. Greatly appreciated.

Just under a year ago, our hot water heater failed and dumped its contents all over the floor.  In a great hurry, we contacted Atlas Plumbing to replace it.

They came and replaced it quickly.  They also un-installed the new heater while the water damage in the laundry room was fixed, and re-installed it.  The workmanship was just fine.  In fact, I'm tempted to give them *two* stars for that...  But read on.

Where they have very badly let us down is post-visit support.  Specifically, any warranty work.

11 months after the installation, the pressure relief valve started leaking out onto the floor.  I called them about that, and they set up an appointment for the next day at 10-11 AM.  At 9 I get a voice-mail that they seem to have written down the address wrong, which apparently cancels the appointment.  I called them back immediately, and they can't get to me today, but they'll talk to the plumbers.

They put the plumber on the phone, who tells me they don't install GE appliances and asks why we picked that one?  Uh, I believe we selected from the options you gave us, my friend.  And when I describe the problem, he tells me Oh, we don't cover parts.  You have to contact the manufacturer.  And evidently they don't cover labor either, because if I did contact the mfr and they did replace the part, we would still have to pay Atlas to install the new part.  And no, they don't even have a phone number for me to call--I am completely and totally on my own.

So their post-service support has been of absolutely zero help whatsoever.  Their warranty is apparently completely worthless.

At least I know who *not* to call if I ever have problems in the future.

The people at Atlas plumbing are SO very kind.  My 83 yo aunt had a plumbing issue and I called mid-day on a Fri, hoping to get someone out the same day.  After explaining the situation, the dispatcher agreed to send someone out that evening even though they were fully booked.

Unfortunately, the condo front desk sent another plumber up 1/2 hr before Atlas arrived to look at the plumbing problem (and I thought he was from Atlas).  When the 2 guys from Atlas arrived (on time), the issue had been looked at.  The Atlas dispatcher called to follow-up on why the appt was cancelled and when I told her what happen, she said no worries and just wanted to make sure my auntie was ok.  I will be calling Atlas in the future if I need any plumbing work done.

Mark came out within 15 mintues of the call. He was very much on time.  Very nice and polite guy.  There was nothing wrong with my garbage disposal.  It took 5 minutes to fix and $95 to do it.

Two things: the person answering the phone was not very helpful. She doesn't quote but she also doesn't help answer any questions. (Note: any service call starts at $95 with the $25 yelp discount).

Second, although the price seems high, I've called others and they are even higher.

I called Atlas after reading the great reviews here and they were exactly as advertised.  It seems pretty easy for a plumber to stick it to you if they want to, but Atlas gives you confidence that's not how they operate.  They're friendly and honest and on the ball.  We'll call them next time too.

They came within the time promised.  They did a good job replacing an old water heater.  They are not cheap, home depot sells a GE water heater for $450 less than the Rheem they put in.

No permit, they said it costs $500 for them to pull a permit, home depot said they do permit for less that $200.  Why the $300 extra?

The guys who came were very professional and pleasant, left the space cleaner than it was when they arrived.

They'd get 5 stars if prices were better, or the guys explained why Atlas costs more.

As a realtor, it is important for me to have a team of professionals I can count on to provide excellent service for my clients. It is typical with the sale of a home that a buyer will get a sewer lateral inspection and another company (George Salet Plumbing) was to do this inspection. They first came to the property without the right equipment to preform the inspection so it was rescheduled. then a grumpy guy showed up and said there was no way to do the inspection without either tearing apart some pipes or taking off the toilet. Both very expensive. I told the buyer agent I always use Atlas. Mostafa Sowadah shoed up on time, with the right equipment and had a smile on his face. Thank you Atlas and thank you Mostafa for being professional and getting the job done!

Atlas has always done a great job at a reasonable price. I won't go elsewhere.

We had a clogged up kitchen sink, along with a leaky pipe - not fun for a Saturday night at 7:30 pm. We had no idea who to call and we didn't want to get stuck with a dodgy plumber who would rip us off. I went to my fellow Yelpers and found Atlas Plumbing, who was pretty highly rated and answered my call at 7:30 pm on a Saturday night! Joel showed up exactly when he said he would - between 9:00 pm - 10:00 pm. Although he didn't have a long enough snake he came back the next morning (Sunday) as promised and got the job done in less than an hour! Unclogged sink with new washers, U-pipe and cleaned up - all for a totally reasonable price. Joel was very professional, honest, efficient and a really nice guy. Yelpers, let's put Atlas to the top because they are really stand-up, something hard to come by in this day and age.

I arrived home to find a flood, the old water heater had failed.  My wife and I headed to the home improvement store to buy a new heater and the various fittings.  Things went alright until we moved the new unit into place and determined that the position and size of the old plumbing connections would have to be changed to adapt to the new unit and to vent it properly. At this point it was after 11 PM.  I searched Yelp for real 24 hour plumbers and called a couple. Only Atlas called me back, and after a short discussion Steve was on his way.

Steve was very friendly, knowledgeable, and meticulous. The work was completed quickly and at a lower cost than I expected.  He went above and beyond, giving me advice and tips to improve and secure the new installation. Steve assured that the entire system was working properly and safely before the service call was complete. Steve and Atlas are my go-to plumbers from here on out.

My tub started backing up in the heavy rains in December.  My landlords hired Atlas, and they came out to put a scope down the sewer line.  The property-owned part of the sewer lateral (yes, this experience has taught me way too much about sewer terminology) was all clear.  Atlas then coordinated work between themselves, the city sewer department, and the city street department (where the problem actually was).  I was able to get my sewer drain back in service for the Christmas holiday -- and the work is guaranteed for 15 years!

The guys at Atlas are GREAT!

I called up at 10pm in a panic coz my toilet had blocked and the situation was pretty grim.  Joel was at another job but said he's be over shortly.  It turned out my boyfriend was able to fix it so I called up sheepishly to cancel.  I offered to pay for the journey but he refused and was generally supportive and fantastic throughout.

If I ever need a plumber again, I'm definitely calling Atlas.
Thanks Guys!

I guess my expectations were pretty high after reading all the other positive reviews prior to having Atlas actually come to my house.

Dennis arrived within the 1-hour window. He fixed the leak in the shower and a downstairs faucet within 15 minutes. It costed me $195 and which includes the 30-day warranty. I don't know what the going rate is but I know that I have 2 less leaks in my house and that makes me happy.

I'm withholding a star because Dennis left a mess in the bathroom--dirty boot tracks all over the shower and bathroom floor. That was disappointing.

These guys are as great as the reviews would indicate.  My sewer to the street became clogged due to roots intruding into the clay pipe and water began to come out of my floor drains when I did laundry or flushed the toilet. Yuk!!!

They said they would come between 11 and 1 and came at 11:30.  The guys were really nice and knew exactly what they were doing.  They removed my downstairs toilet and ran a monster of a snake through the sewer to clean it out. They also ran a camera down the sewer to evaluate its condition and gave me an estimate for what it would take to replace the clay pipe with cast iron.  The thing that really impressed me was that Joel said that I could probably wait a couple more years before getting the sewer replaced, so he was definitely not trying to just make more money but was giving me honest advice.

I would double think before you hire this company for your needs.  They had a technican sent out to help me with my horrible mess of a heater.  They said they would work it with me and help me out with getting it fixed.  It was not fixed and  apparently it was a commerical unit and they said they did not do any service on this even though 3 technicians came.  First one fixed it and it was broke, 2nd one came and had no clue to what it was.  The 3rd guy was nice but told me he would have the owners forward me a company that was qualified to fix it.   Then on a sunday.  The company they found for me was a no show.  I confirmed for that day with the number they gave me and if I can remember their name...they would also get a 1 star.    The 3rd company was Professor Plumb and they did an amazing job with the unit and was courteous.  One reason which sparked this review was how the lady who works in the office of Atlas plumbing was giving me grief and how she was doing me a favor.  I told the owner that I was patient, understanding but that put me over the edge about how a company can have such a mess of a system and lack of knowledge about what units they can or can not fix.

Had a clogged main drain, called because they had good ratings and the $69 drain clearing advertised on their website. Mentioned, to the answering service, that I  was calling for the advertised special.
Mike and a helper came out and cleared the drain with little problem, maybe 20 minutes work. Price $165, oh no the $69 is for clearing out only if we don't have to come into your house.
I've actually used them before and had no problem, so surprised at the up-charge.

Make sure you get a verbal confirmation prior to service, i didn't and won't be using them again

Update is that Joel, the owner, called me apologized, said that isn't how they do business and voided my check.

Atlas Plumbing is awesome . . . anyone who takes on a multi-hour job on a Saturday impresses the hell out of me.  I called because I needed some pipes re-routed in my garage, and I expected to be scheduled for some annoying middle-of-the-week hour, but they came right over, gave me a quick quote, and were back the next day to do the job.  Friendly, professional, and even though plumbing is never going to be cheap (unless you do it wrong), I felt that their price was fair.

So some of you are saying that there are fake reviews on Atlas' yelp page. I didn't care. I called anyway. I made an appt for when I could be home (the next morning). Mark showed up, was very friendly and fixed the problem in 20 minutes. I had a clogged sink, which I made worse by trying to fix it myself. Who knew you couldn't just buy a metal snake at Home Depot and shove it down the hole? He charged me $145, which I have no idea if thats good or not, but the problem is fixed and comes with a 30 day warranty. Thanks Atlas!

I have had three occasions to use Atlas Plumbing in the last two months.  The first was a major remodeling of our master bath.  Our tub had to be taken out so that we could have a solid piece of marble installed.  I called several plumbing companies and they wanted a lot of money and didn't seem like they wanted the job.  Atlas (Damian) took out the bathtub where it sat on our patio  for two weeks while the marble was being installed and then Damian came back and put the tub back in place.  Not a scratch on the tub.
We then had a valve replaced in our guest bathroom.  Same thing Damian was on time and we were very happy with what he did.Today my husband was doing some plumbing work and it was more then he was capable of.  It had to be fixed as we couldn't turn our water back on.  We called Atlas and Damian stopped on his way home from work and took care of the problem.
Thank you Damian

We had a backed up sewer on a recent Saturday evening.  When we called, we got a real person on the phone, as someone else has mentioned.  She promised to call right back with an arrival time for the plumber.  She called in about 5 minutes.  The plumber, Mark, showed up on schedule in about an hour.  He was Great.  He quickly determined the problem - sewer back up as I suspected, not just a toilet.  He removed the toilet, cleaned out the line, reinstalled the toilet and we were back in business, at the cost they had quoted me, which I thought was very reasonable especially for a Saturday evening.  Mark was friendly, helpful, and he had recommendations for what I can do to help keep the lines clean. He was also very neat and did a terrific clean up job.  I've used Atlas before and always been more than satisfied.  They are my Go To choice for a plumber.

After 5 years, our water heater stopped working, specifically; the pilot light wouldn't stay lit. I have a Kenmore water heater, so I called Sears to have them take a look. Sears could have someone out to me that same day, but there would be $110 service fee just for the technician to come by and take a look. Parts would be free, but labor would additional on top of the $110. Since the Sears tech wasn't going to be there until later in the afternoon, I checked out Yelp and came across Atlas. I gave them a call at 7am and after a few rings, someone picked up (Joel?) and said that they could get someone over between 9 and 10am. Since they provide free estimates, I figured I had nothing to lose, so I went for it.

Just as promised, Farem from Atlas showed up exactly on time. I explained the problem and he promptly suggested that I replace the thermocouple. He quoted $225 for the job and if that didn't fix the issue, he wouldn't charge me.  Figuring that it would be cheaper to pay the $225 than suffer the ire of my wife having to take a cold shower, I agreed to the quote. Within 20 minutes, the new thermocouple was installed and the water heater fired up.

I give these guys props for getting to my place quickly, on time, and for doing the job, but I do have to ding them for being so expensive.  In fact, after taking a look at the cost of a thermocouple online (less than $20) and the abundance of how-to video's that walk you through this seemingly simple job,  I felt a bit embarrassed that I paid as much as I did.  I would probably use these guys again, but I would definitely try to get some additional estimates for comparison.

Two hours ago, I had a washing machine repair man in the garage and he got dripped on. Someone upstairs had used the toilet and, apparently, it was leaking. Yikes! I called Atlas because the last time we used them, they were so good and fast and professional. Well, of course, on a Saturday afternoon, they said they might not be able to come out until tomorrow -- that's a Sunday, and yes, they're open 7 days a week. But, they set a tentative time of late afternoon, today.

Luckily, Frank was on the job, and had a little time to spare. He called and asked if he could come right over. Yes! Frank! Our hero. He was in and out of here in a flash. He's so professional, no nonsense, but someone you know you can trust -- actually, we know we can trust him because this is the second time he came through for us: fleet of foot, deep with knowledge -- can you tell we like this guy?!

So far, no job has been too small. But we would count on Frank to bring the right bid, tools, personnel, and knowledge to any job.

Wow, talk about fast, courteous and just down right great service. Listen up people, we all hate when things go wrong, especially your PLUMBING..! it's a nightmare to figure out what is causing the issue and god forbid you actually have to crawl in some tiny hole and dodge creepy crawlers. Not me, this is why you call a PROFESSIONAL to fix your problems and yes a fee is applied. You dont want to pay then put on your DIY hat do it yourself. Or you can do what I did and call Atlas for all your Plumbing & Rotary needs, they were fast, efficent and definetely affordable. All of their staff are super friendly and smart, they walked me through the process and made sure I was clear on what the issue was before moving forward. I called them and asked about a few small things and also getting a bid on a potentially large item.

They were friendly on the phone, able to have someone come out on the same day and didn't charge me a penny for a few small tweaks on their part that fixed one of my small problems (water pressure in kitchen faucet) and made a practical suggestion for me on how to get a leak fixed in an upstairs faucet.

They also were straight with me about a bigger bid project.

Both men (Robert and someone else) that came could not have been nicer. Great experience with them today and will have them come back to fix the leaky faucet once a part comes in.

Excellent work, excellent price. Wonderful job.

I manage an apartment building and after getting three quotes for the work that needed to be done settled on Atlas because of the glowing reviews here.

I could not have been happier.

We had a lot of work that needed to be done - the addition of a utility sink, hookups and a drain for a washer and dryer.  Gas line extended for the dryer, two cleanouts added to older drains and two drains cleaned out, one that tended to clog every month or so.

We scheduled the work, and they came right on time.  They worked from 9AM to 8PM to get the job done and get it done correctly.

The work is great, they cleaned up and the price was amazing.

Thanks guys, you are my plumbers for life!

The first guy I called didn't get back to me for three days and then told me he was going out of business.  So I kept calling plumbers on the list until I got one with a receptionist (Atlas).  I figured that meant it was more than a one person operation.

They were able to schedule someone to see me for a non-emergency situation the next day.  Mark arrived about on time.  I showed him the two toilet issues and the optional shower issue.  He said they were all easy and wouldn't take long and would cost $175 for all three repairs, replacement parts included.

There was a bit of a mix-up the next day when I thought one of the toilet repairs wasn't as complete as it should be.  I called and Mark was scheduled to come out the next morning to look at it.  Late that night I fiddled with the toilet and realized the problem I'd encountered would be a one in a thousand occurrence during normal use.  That constituted fixed in my book.

I called and got their answering service (who has an answering service these days?) and left a message to cancel the 9am appointment the next day.

Later in the day I got a call from Mark that he had been standing outside my door waiting for five minutes and was going to wait for five more.

I called back to apologize profusely for the mis-communication.  But I appreciated the fact that he made every effort to try to make what he thought was the expected appointment.

The replacement parts he installed were better than the original.  His work was quick, professional and friendly.  (Unlike the last shifty plumber who insisted a leaky shower diverter was the best that anyone could do.)

I'd recommend Atlas for plumbing problems.  They do new installations, too, but I have used them for a major home-remodel project.

We needed a few plumbing tasks done to address some amateur plumbing projects that were completed over the years. Mark came quickly to complete his estimate--and while doing so corrected a few of the issues gratis! After receiving two other estimates we selected Mark--who came the next day, addressed everything quickly and at the exact price he quoted. Over a week later, all is still well and we couldn't be happier. We absolutely recommend them and will use them again for any future plumbing issues.

Atlas have come out this morning to inspect a clogged sewer line under my section of sidewalk. I had snaked it out myself the previous day to the point it was flowing again,  but as this is a recurring problem I decided to get another quote (I'd had a quote earlier this year after the second event in two months. It was frighteningly expensive so I buried my head in the sand - and purchased a pulse auger).

The technician was very reasonable in his conduct/opinions/representations and after we tentatively agreed on a price to do a trenchless replacement, he showed me the video of the broken clay pipes and the tree roots etc.

Obviously it's a painful choice to do the sewer work, but the quote was competitive and the guys seemed well balanced.

They will do the work this week and I'll be updating this review/rating. So far, so good... I'm expecting/hoping to make this a five star rating.

Updating to five stars... meant to do this a long time ago. But the work was excellent, all promises met, everyone was fantastic.

Never did I think I would be so disappointed with a service or in this case, customer service,  that it would prompt me to write a Yelp review. In the last few years, I've had major plumbing issues. As a result, I constantly have to get both my kitchen sink and bathtub snaked. I always forget the last plumber I used, but recently found an old invoice right before the problem arose ( no pun intended) .

I called Atlas Plumbing this morning and booked an appointment for this afternoon, given a 2-3 window. In order to get home in time to meet the plumber I had to leave my office on a busy day at 1.30. At 3.30, I get a call that they were running late and would be there closer to 4. I had a meeting scheduled for 4.30 in which I had to cancel. Not thrilled about it, but it happens ..I get it!

Two plumbers show up at my house, check out the situation and quote me $225. I had the exact same thing done this year for $165. ( which I showed him the invoice) A $60 difference- REALLY? The whole reason I chose to use these guys again was partly because of price, and secondly because the first plumber I used was so great.. The right thing to do would be to honor that price. Not only would he not do that, he was a jerk about it and did not feel bad at all. He said if I wanted that price I would need to call the plumber at Atlas who was here last. I was finally able to talk him into $200.

Out of principal...I would have loved to tell him to leave but I had already taken the day off work.

Regardless if they do a good job or not, the customer service is beyond bad and I would NEVER use them again. This is a pretty standard procedure so unsure why Atlas does not have standard rates. I need to get a Sewer Line Video Inspection and my business is not going to go to them.

If only they did the right thing!

In writing this, I am between a rock and a hard spot...I do want to say that the costumer service for Atlas was good and I do not mind paying for service completed.  I am in the trades so I know the value of service.

I had a kitchen facet that leaked.   I did call them out 2 times, it turned out there was nothing for them to fix, but they gave me some advice and did not charge me anything..hence the free estimate. I got a new facet, installed it and the hose to the sprayer still leaked...out of desperation, I called a 3rd time. I asked the hourly rate and she said they charge by the job and that they would tell me ahead of time what it would cost.

They did come out promptly, were here for 5-10 mins and said I was missing a washer on a new hose just sent to me from the factory and charged me $95 for a service call. I called the factory and they said that there is not a washer in this type of hose...and there is the rub...again I do not mind paying for a service completed...but they did nothing, gave me wrong advice and charged me a service call.....so just a warning...I guess the free estimate is only good for 2 times...unless you pay them something don't call them out a 3rd. :}

It is always difficult to find true professionals in any field...these guys are the real deal! I originally called for a quote on a rather large job. Replacing  the piping and main shut off valves for a 4 unit building.

Faren was knowledgeable and when the work was completed yesterday it was clear that he was very experienced. He and his co-worker made the experience as pleasant as a plumbing problem could be.

I highly recommend Atlas Plumbing

I do not know what happened. I wanted to use Atlas based on other reviews and my initial visit by Mike and Jason. Mike and Jason came to my house, looked over the job, seemed like great guys and said they would sent a quote via email the following day.

It is two weeks later and I never hear back, in spite of my calling back.

After a week I called someone else and someone else did the job.

Our hot water heater sprung a HUGE leak at 6pm on a Sunday evening.  We called Atlas and they had Juan at our place within an hour.  While he did not have access to a new hot water heater on Sunday evening he came back the next day and installed a new one.  Juan and Jose did an excellent job.  The removed the old hot water heater, installed and mounted the new one quickly and correctly and cleaned up the huge mess from the removal of the old hot water heater.

Found Atlas here and was able to make an appointment for the next day.  Ken arrived on time, gave me a reasonable estimate, and made quick work of 1 of my 3 problems.  Special parts were needed for the other two, and he promised to get them and return later in the day.  He returned on time and finished the job.

Ken was professional, quick, clean, and took the time to explain the issues.

Don't know if the price was competitive, but seemed reasonable to me.

I recently dropped stones from my fish tank and a lot of burned rice down my drain (idiot!!) and the disposal stopped working. I called another Rooter company and they wanted like $500 bucks to replace the disposal, plus the guy was shady, telling me to tell my landlady a different price.

The guy from Atlas showed up, was clean, intelligent and honest. He diagnosed the problem quickly, charged me $250 to replace the disposal, and was very courteous. We joked around a bit, he's the kind of guy you'd want to hang with and have a brew.

Highly recommend them, they'll be my plumbers for years to come.

It was 7.30pm and my toilet was having major issues.  I called Atlas based on all of the positive feedback on Yelp...I love Yelp!  Mark answered and told me he'd be over within the hour (and he was).  He offered me a free estimate after assessing the situation and stuck to it...20 minutes my plumbing order was restored and my Rolodex one entry heavier.

I was impressed with the quick response I received. I called on Sunday and informed the woman at dispatch that my toilet was slowly draining and refilling. First thing Monday morning I received a call that a plumber would arrive between 3pm and 4pm that day. At 2:30 I received a call asking if they could come a bit early. I said fine, I was on my way home anyway to meet them. Justin was great. He saw it was the flapper and quoted $125 for the entire job. He didn't have the part on his truck, so he went to the supply store, purchased the part and quickly returned. He even gave me a 60-day warranty. I will use Atlas again for my future plumbing needs.

Last 3 calls to Altas have resulted in disappointment. I feel as if the last 2 quotes were a complete rip off, so I chose to do the work myself. Glad I did. Quotes were very high given the cost of the parts and the labor (I should know since I bought the parts and put the stuff in myself). No response after leaving my last message. I called these guys at 4:30 today after calling my regular rooter guy who I am very fond of but who could not get to me until tomorrow. I had a clogged line that could not be cleared by the plumber I already had there who was fixing a broken pipe. Without this line being cleared no one in the house would be able to use any water. Truly excellent. Quick and professional answer to my phone call, followed by setting up an appointment for a plumber to come out in a few hours. They then amazingly called back to ask if it was okay for him to come earlier, which was fantastic! Mark was exceedingly professional, graciously put on shoe coverings before coming in, assessed everything and gave a reasonable and fair estimate. He then fixed our clogged garbage disposal (or rather the pipes distal to the disposal), replaced the trap (even switching it out for a better one when the first didn't work), checked behind the sink to make sure I hadn't spilled water down behind the structure, and tested/cleaned everything up after. He was efficient and clearly very skilled, worth every penny. Everything works excellently. I will absolutely call Atlas again, and would highly recommend them and Mark to anyone.

The Atlas guys just left my apartment...  they were great!
My water heater died this morning, and PG&E gave me an appt  for tomorrow from 8am to 5pm!! Instead I called Atlas, and they came within an hour, fixed the pilot light in the heater, bought and installed new thermal couple in case the existing one was old and would die again.  They also connected my new dryer to the gas pipe and finished everything within 2 hours (including a shopping trip for parts.)
Faren, the technician was very professional.

The only reason I give them 4 stars instead of 5 is because they were pretty expensive, relative to other handymen I have had working on the apartment. But if you need something fixed right away, like hot water, then definitely call Atlas!

After having 3 plumbers with BIG ads in the Yellow Pages come by to look at my broken sump pump and tank, I knew they were trying to rip me off. Charging up to $300 per hour.  I turned to Yelp for the first time and found Altas because of the other favorable reviews.  Although Joel may not be great at returning phone calls, his guys got the job done for significantly less than the other plumbers with the big ads.  They were quick and did their best to clean up after themselves. I saved a lot of money and would not hesitate to call them back.

Let me preface this by saying that I'm the kind of person who is very difficult to satisfy.  OK, I'm a pain in th a**.  I and my partners are going through a condo conversion and the city gave us a laundry list of things that needed to be brought up to code with the plumbing.  After gathering estimates from 3 plumbing companies we decided upon Atlas plumbing based upon their reaonable bid (not the lowest, not the highest) and their favorable reviews on Yelp.

These guys worked incredibly efficiently and knocked off all of our items in a week.  I thought it would take at least two.  One of the items was a very complex roof draining system which I was worried would affect the aesthetics of my house.  The workers could tell that I was worried about this and put a lot of thought into their design.  The result was an ingenius solution that was both attractive and economical.

But don't take my word for it, the city inspectors were very impressed too, and when you are going through a condo conversion that is who really matters anyway.

And, if you don't have a big job like a condo converion, they do the small stuff well too.  They fixed a leaking drain pipe on the side of our building and also unclogged a toilet that one of the tenants happened to have while they were on the job.

So, definitely a 5 star review from me.

When on Christmas Eve my main drain clogged up we called a few places, one was booked, another wouldn't come on that day. Atlas returned our call within an hour, quoted us on the phone and came 30 min later. The problem was fixed within 30 min and we could continue our dinner. Uber prompt and efficient.  But uber EXPENSIVE.

Just a dripping faucet - should have been able to fix myself.  But couldn't find the *&$^ retaining clip that prevented my from removing the cartridge.  So what with the drought and all, I releted and called the plumber.

If I had known it would cost $125!!, I would have tried consulting with Moen again before giving up.

Since I had already tried the repair myself, I had all the parts and tools sitting right there.  He didn't even have to go back to his truck.  Repair took, seriously, 18 minutes.  He said $125 was their minimum charge.

A few months back, I had a new sink, faucet and disposal put in - a major job, including trimming the counter to accommodate the new sink, which took 7 hours - for only $641.  For big contracting jobs, you might want to check out Tom Friel (he does mostly renovations; my job was unusually small for him).

With Atlas, I easily got a next day appt scheduled at a convenient time.  And the guy even called to see if he could come an hour early, which was great for me.

Maybe that's just what these things cost, but it seemed a bit pricey to me.  When I made the appt, it might have been a good idea to mention the minimum charge.  I told them I needed the cartridge replaced, so they should have known that it was a fast & easy job.

(Not a fake post - even though i have no other posts or friends.  I registered specifially to write this post)

I was very impressed with the friendly and professional service I received.  I didn't feel like I was just another customer of some big impersonal industry.  I felt as if I was working with a good old fashioned small town respectable shop.  Like back when doing business had some self respect and accountability.  Everyone was flexible with my schedule instead of vice versa.  They also gave me a few options and scenarios so I could decide what kind of money I wanted to spend.  I will definately continue to use Atlas for any plumbing issues that come up in the future.

Second time I've used Atlas, and just as pleased as I was first time around. This time I managed to get a penny, some glass, and other stuff stuck in our garbage disposal, which had caused it to seize up. I figured I was going to end up having to buy a new disposal, which was not how I wanted to kick of '09.

Instead Atlas sent Mark out on a Saturday, when they said they would, and he fixed my disposal in less than 20 minutes. Mark was cool, prompt and upfront about what he was doing. All in all, it was $95 well-spent, and now I can get on with my weekend.

Atlas recently replaced our lateral sewer line using the trenchless process. All in all, we were very satisfied with the work. Kenny and his crew ran into a few glitches, this being an older home, but did a great job with very little disruption to us or the sewer service. They were always on time, on schedule, efficient, and made sure everything was back in its place when they were done. This included a fine job replacing a few bricks that were knocked loose from the retaining wall during the process.  I would not hesitate to use them again.

Well, I gotta say that I did  NOT want to call the plumber. Any plumber. I tried to fix it myself. I used baking soda and vinegar on all of our drains, plus the main. Everything bubble bubbled toil and troubled merrily, and the sewer main DID drain, but s-o-o-o slowly. Of course, the water and et ceteras shouldn't have popped up onto our floor in the first place, but I thought (erroneously as it turns out) that the organic method would prevail. After a couple of days applying the scientific method of baking soda and vinegar, and watching the floor get flooded after running a load of laundry, I called Atlas Plumbing. I had called them before, in 2012, for the similar problem. I called at 10 in the morning, they were here before noon. Amazing. All was fixed within ten minutes. Plus, they ran a lil video camera wire and inspected my pipes, to determine the amount of cracks and such in the old, vintage clay pipes that run under my century-old place of residence. Bottom line? All the baking soda and vinegar in the world would not have fixed my problem. There are my neighbor's tree's roots in my plumbing, and debris from the laundry and toilet (yuck) got clogged up in the roots, so nothing would make it drain except to have the main snaked professionally. Glad I called (finally). Glad it's working, that I can take a shower long enough to wash my hair, glad I can do a load of laundry and not have to wait 24 hours for the water to merge with the grand canal of sewage flowing under San Francisco's pearly streets. Amazing service, Ronald and Aaron explained everything, answered all my questions, gave me an estimate of what it would cost to actually REPLACE the old pipes (not going there today!!) . . . All in all, I would rate them with a hundred golden stars, but, five is as good as it gets on yelp. A+ all the way, and yes, indeed, I would call Atlas Plumbing again, and I am sure that in three years I will need to have them come and repeat the same service they did today due to the trees' roots being constantly watered by my waste water . . .

Mark came to my house this morning to fix a leaky toilet.  He was very nice, professional and got the job done very quickly BUT I later learned that what he charged was VERY EXPENSIVE.

As a follow up, a few months later I noticed that there was rusty water leaking onto the floor from where he'd fixed the toilet.  I thought it would stop but now there are multiple rust stains on my floor.  I told Atlas about it and since I was beyond the 1-month repair time they said they wouldn't fix it.

Later I got another plumber to fix it--he said the reason for the rust stained drops was because the plumber used cheap materials that caused the toilet to leak rusty water.  So he replaced the hardware with non-rusting materials.

He also charged me MUCH less than what Atlas had charged. AND he fixed my toilet, replaced the kitchen sink AND fixed my showerhead.

Professional, quick and polite service. They took off their shoes when they entered my house to check out the damage. They covered everything in plastic when they got down to work.

The plumbers wiped down everything and cleaned my bathroom when they finished the job!

Also, a 90- days warranty for the pipes that were replaced was given by the end of the day.

The only reason they get any stars is because they came over within an hour. $225 to tighten a faucet and lie to me about an obstruction in the bathtub drain. They ran the snake, didn't clear the drain. Told me they'd have to shut off the water in the building and go through the downstairs neighbor's pipes in order to clear it. Their pants are on fire. Granted there was no way to tell, but another plumber got it clear, for a lot less $.

I will preface this review with the fact that I am not a very handy man.....One day our garbage disposal stopped working so I decided to call Atlas.  They were extremely prompt in getting out to address the problem and for that I commend them. However, it took their service man 20 seconds to fix the disposal yet I was still charged the full $125. It turned out one of my daughter's baby spoons had gotten stuck which caused the problem. I asked the service man if he could bend on the price since it took 20 seconds and he said that was the going rate for service calls of this nature regardless of how long it took to fix. I was a little shocked by this as the price seemed excessive for how long the task took. I just think in this tough economic environment, they should offer breaks for jobs of this nature. For that, I wouldn't recommend Atlas.

AVOID!!!!  I hired them based on the positive reviews I saw here, but frankly I don't understand them after my experience.  They flooded my place, then left in a huff before the job was finished when I asked them to help me clean up.  Bizarrely unprofessional, left me with a mess to clean up, and I had to hire new plumbers.  Only left me with legal options.

I used to love these guys.  You call - they come - they fix the problem - all done. Tonight I called (rather late at night) with a major house plumbing issue and I did not get a call back. I called again an hour later to see if anyone was coming and was told the plumber would call me soon.  After another half hour I called another plumber and canceled my call. So sad to lose a good plumber.

Thank you Yelpers for steering me to Atlas Plumbing.  After 8 years of expensive plumbing nightmares with Bell Plumbing and other SF over-priced and under-performing plumbing companies, I called Atlas because of all the great reviews on Yelp.  I called Atlas at 8 o'clock on a Thursday evening, thinking I would leave a message for the next day.  But somebody actually answered even at that hour, and immediately scheduled an appointment for 11 a.m. the following morning.  Mark arrived exactly on time the next day, quoted a very reasonable $125 for the job (replacing all the plumbing, faucets, and spout in a bathroom -- I had the parts already.)  He was a great guy, really knew what he was doing, took great care doing the job, and everything was spotless when he left.  You would have never known a one hour+ plumbing job had just been done.  I will call Atlas again when next I need a plumber, and am relieved to know I have at last found a plumbing company who responds quickly, does the job for a reasonable price, doesn't over-inflate the estimate or insist on doing extra (and expensive) things which don't need to be done, and are friendly and professional.  All at the same time.  What a concept!

THESE GUYS ARE GREAT!

My bathtub needed to be unclogged and I called these guys for the job after reading the reviews here.  After calling them at 9am, Joel said they would come in between 10:30 and 11:30.  They arrived a little before 10:30, which was great.  Kenny snaked it and fixed it within 20 minutes, which is super fast considering the stuff that they found in the drain.  After this, Joel gave me a receipt and a 30 day guarantee just in case it clogged up again.  This cost about $95, which I don't know if it is a good price, but with the warranty, it seemed more worth it.

Unfortunately, another problem arose.  After they had left, I realized that there was water leaking from some pipe into the stairwell of the building!  I wasn't too surprised considering that the pipes were original in this very old building.  I immediately called Joel, and he said that he would come over before 5pm.  They showed up at around 2pm, which was nice considering it seemed that the problem would take up a lot of their time and they might want to leave it till the end of the day.  I was worried that I would have to argue with them to convince them that the leaking was due to the snaking.  I'm not a very comfortable with confrontations.  Anyways, Joel came and to convince him that it wasn't leaking before they snaked it, I said I would show him that it would leak after turning on the shower.  He told me he believed me!  Unbelievable, he didn't even try to weasel out of it!  He just tried to figure out where the leak was coming from, which he said was his specialty.

We found the problem after removing some panels from the wall to reveal the cracked pipe.  After evaluating the problem, I asked him when would be a good time to schedule the fix for it, dreading to spend another day dealing with this.  His answer was, Right now, I want to get you going as soon as possible. Shocked, once again.  I mean, it was kinda his fault, but also mine as well.  I'm glad that he was honest and able to take responsibility, otherwise, I'd be much more stressed.  He even offered to split the cost of the additional work.  All in all, the work was completed in about 4 hours.  I think that's pretty fast considering that they had to purchase the parts and clean up everything. The work also came with a 90 warranty.

I would never use any plumber again because I really trust these guys. While they were doing the job, I didn't feel like I had to look over them to make sure they weren't half-assing anything.  They, Kenny and Joel, had really great attitudes.  They didn't seem pissed or frustrated throughout the entire ordeal.  They're pretty young, so they were easy to talk to and we even had short conversations on random things.  I talked to them like how I usually talk to my friends.  I think that this is not necessarily a quality needed in plumbers, but it's nice to be able to talk to them.  Also, they are so freaking clean!  There was a big mess after removing the wooden panels, but there was no evidence that any work was done after they left.  They used their vacuum to remove water and debris on the stairs, which is probably cleaner now than before they came.

I will continue to use these guys for because they are great all around! Prompt, polite, caring, and everything you could ask for from people working in your home!  I will recommend Atlas to all my friends because I can guarantee that they will be as satisfied in their work as I am!

I just had a sewer job done by these guys - and they were awesome.  Old SF pipes - bad news)-:  After two plumbers came and looked - one was too busy and one was sketchy - these guys came out and were so professional, quick, nice and are a mostly family business.  All the guys who came for the job were cousins and clearly really cared about the business and the job they did.  I felt really comfortable having them in my home.  They figured out a more reasonable way to do the job and I have a great new sewer line.   Thanks Atlas!

These guys were great! The quote they gave was the best quote I got out of 5 different plumbers. Super helpful, really nice guys. We had a clogged bathtub that wouldn't drain and so I called these guys up off of a recommendation on yelp. They were able to schedule an appointment right away and showed up when they said they would. What was supposed to be a 15 minute routine rootering of the drain (there was 1/2 a foot of hair in there and it broke 1 snake!) turned into an hour+ job and they still only charged me the original quote! He left the bathtub cleaned and ready to go as well as cleaned up any mess around. It was left in better condition than when they came. Needless to say, I was impressed enough to actually go through the trouble of registering an account JUST to write this review. They're definitely my go-to guys from now on for all my plumbing needs.  Oh yea, there's a 30 day guarantee too although I highly doubt i'll be needing to use it. Call them now if you have any problems. You won't be disappointed!

Called them to get 2 leaky faucets repaired in the bathroom.  Repairman came on time, but he quoted 250.00 just to replace a part, that did not even include repairing the other faucet.  He did not even suggest an alternate or anything else, he did not care when I told him that both faucets don't cost that much, that I might as well go and replace them both with new ones, why replace just a part.  He just shrugged and said whatever and left.   He did not even put drawer back in the bathroom.  Just walked out.  How unprofessional.  I would give him less than a star , but its not possible.

They arrived early and I can see why. They are sooooo expensive you'd have to have won the lottery to afford them. Something that was a two hour job was bid at $1000. Instead of fixing a small problem on a toilet he wanted to replace the whole thing. I will go to home depot and put my kids through one semester of college instead...

I don't understand why so many folks have 4 to 5 stars. I asked for a quote recently for a standard sewer line inspection work.  But they gave me a ran around with vastly different (double) pricing for same exact work they did for my friend's property just a few months ago.  Also, I asked for a price quote to repair a water and sewer line and their quote came up double (a few thousands $ more) compared to another very reputable plumbing company here in San Francisco.  My experience with this company only means they are less than honest due to inconsistency with their price list, and just do your home work (get more than one quote for the work) and don't be gullible with its pricing tactic.  However, I agree with other reviewer about the company response for service call has been great... within hour or two.

I just used Atlas for the first time to help out with my water heater calcium build-up.. in the past I had used Golden Gate plumbing but had some bad experiences. True to the Yelp reviews, Atlas was much better to work with. We needed them to come three times to resolve everything (once to try a flush, another to determine we needed a new heater, the third to install it). They sent the same guy each time, who was very pleasant, knowledgeable, and easy to work with. He ended up having to replace our heater, and when we figured that out was able to schedule for the new heater to come and be installed the same day in the evening when we'd be home. Everything went very smoothly and the plumber didn't leave without making sure all our faucets were making hot water and clear of sediment. Overall I was pleased with the convenience and expertise offered, and I'd use them again.

When our garage drain backed in the middle of a huge rainstorm, we called Joel. He came early, fixed the problem (saving the house from an ugly flood) and did not even charge an emergency call fee. Professional, prompt and pleasant -- everything you want in a plumber. And he provided a 30-day guarantee on his snake work, which is really nice and unusual. My husband who is very hard to please called Atlas Plumbing, we had a great experience with them once before, but the guy (Mark I think) had left Atlas so my husband asked for someone just as good so they sent Ken Asire.  Ken picked up and installed a new toilet and once again we are totally happy and satisfied clients, they were fast, reasonable and cleaned up after the job.  When Ken Asire finished my husband said you're now my new plumber, and when my husband is happy the wife is happy!

Friday night, and the toilet is clogged. That doesn't bode well for the weekend. I found Atlas on Yelp. They're in my neighborhood and have great reviews. I call at 6:30 p.m., they show up in about 15 minutes, and now I can flush the toilet. The price was reasonable, the bathroom can be used, and the plumbers were competent and friendly. I couldn't ask for anything more.

I honestly do not know anything about plumbing and this was even more apparent when Dennis came over and replaced the flow valve system in my toilet in approximately 15 minutes. It cost about $150, which was about $50 more than I wanted to spend, but he came, he saw, and he fixed. Anyway, he locked down the toilet bowl itself which was wobbly to begin with free of charge. So, all in all, there isn't really anything to complain about.

We called Atlas to replace our disposal. Turns out we had a hidden leak, ruining the floor beneath our dishwasher, and we had no idea it was there. Mark came, and he was very professional and dare I say sweet.  He fixed our leaky dishwasher saving us from a potential disaster, and replaced our disposal. He came when he said he would in the morning, and returned with parts right on time later in the day. My only complaint is that it all seemed a bit expensive, but then again, no one likes to spend money on leaky pipes!! That's just not exciting, now is it.

Last night, our toilet clogged. We tried everything to get it unclogged, but nothing worked. We finally decided on calling around to find a 24 hour plumber. Many of them were either busy, too expensive, or had an answering service. We finally called Atlas, after checking out the reviews on yelp, and the person who answered at the late hour in the night, told us that they would send someone in the morning between 8 and 8:30. We had decided that we weren't going to do the night call because of the ridiculous night charge. Sure enough Mark comes to the rescue, within the allotted time frame. He's super friendly and got the job done within 10 minutes. I would definitely recommend Atlas to anyone who has plumbing problems.

We recently discovered we needed to get the portion of our sewer line under the sidewalk replaced. We had a quote for the replacement from a plumber we knew and trusted, but got one from Atlas to make sure the price we were getting was competitive. Atlas way underbid our usual plumber so we ended up going with them and we're glad we did. Mike was wonderful-- very responsive and reliable. As far as we can tell, the work they did was good. Even our neighbors commented on how considerate and efficient the guys were. (That really says something since part of what they were doing was jack-hammering into concrete.) We would certainly use them again.

An incorrect diagnosis by Atlas cost me a huge amount of unnecessary stress and inconvenience - and could have cost me even more time, energy, and thousands of wasted dollars if I hadn't gotten a second opinion.

My next door neighbor and I both noticed water leaking in our garages.  I immediately called Atlas on Saturday of Labor Day weekend and Jon inspected my line with a camera, told me the water in my garage was sewage overflow due to a crack in my sewer line, and recommended digging up my driveway and replacing the entire line which costs over $5000 and takes over a week.  He made this very strong recommendation even though he did not inspect my neighbor's line, nor had anyone else.  Trusting him and not wanting to incur any additional damage, I turned off everything, vacated my home, waited for Atlas to send me a quote Tuesday, and called two additional plumbers to get quotes on this very large job.  I returned to check on things Labor Day Monday, and there was new sewer water in my garage even though I had been gone for two days.  A second plumber came and I paid for a second camera inspection.  Even though I had called them to get a quote on the very expensive job of replacing my sewer line, the second plumber informed me that my sewer line is clear and that the overflow must be coming from my neighbor's line.  They were right.  My neighbors had their plumbing inspected and fixed Tuesday morning, and sewage stopped flowing into our homes that day.

On Tuesday Atlas emailed me a quote for over $5000 to replace the line.   Jon called to talk to me about it.  Instead of asking me for an update or giving me a chance to say anything, he talked and talked and I finally had to interrupt him in order to tell him that the problem turned out to be my neighbor's, not mine, and was already fixed.  At that point, he said something like, so I guess you'll wait to replace your sewer and we quickly ended the conversation.

If I hadn't called a second plumber, I would have spent over $5000 on a new sewer line, more days out of my home, and there would still be sewage flowing into our homes.

This is my first time writing a review on Yelp. But felt that I needed to share my story and how Joel (the owner) and his technician, Fren went above and beyond the call of duty.  My 7 y/o was playing dress up with my wedding ring (unbeknownst to me) on Sunday and accidentally flushed it! Didn't tell me the truth until last night. Atlas Plumbing came this morning and used a long hose with a camera attached to look for my ring...but nothing.  Joel suggested that he would go in the manhole down the street and see if he could find it. (I think he felt bad how distraught I looked) He said the chances were very dismal. I must be doing something good...because he found it!! OMG!! Last night were tears of sadness and now my tears are of happiness!! Want to thank Atlas Plumbing & Rooter so much for finding my wedding ring! It's such a great feeling when you get OUTSTANDING service!

Saturday afternoon, my bathroom sink is clogged with hair.  Bought a zipit tool at Fredericksen's, it didn't work.  Went out for several hours, picked up some Liquid Plumr at Walgreen's, followed the directions exactly, nada.  Now I have a sink full of toxic caustic chemicals AND a clog.  Mind you, my landlord will pay for a plumber but I'll have to wait a few days.  So I called Atlas and somebody called me back immediately.  I didn't quite catch his name, pity.  I did a Hail Mary and said I'd have them come out if it didn't cost more than $50. But their minimum emergency call is $195.  Even after the guy realized that I was not going to become a customer tonight, he was VERY generous with his time and gave me a mini-tutorial in clogs, what Drano and LP work on if anything ... told me about my P trap, gave me some ideas ... but then I told him I have a pedestal sink and he basically said it would be really difficult for me to do it myself as it's tough to get a wrench back there, save myself the effort and wait for the landlord to send a plumber.

I really appreciate that he called back extremely quickly AND took the time to give me advice even after I tried to low-ball him!

Consider us a new customer on Hill St.! This last Saturday morning we had a bad sewer back-up from toilet to tub - ugh. In a panic I used yelp and altho we've used another good plumber in the city (O'Grady) I was impressed with Atlas' great reviews -- and a bit concerned about the recent negative ones. Nonetheless I phoned Atlas at ~8am and Joel answered the phone - a nice surprise to relay my emergency to a real person and not an answering machine. He said he could have someone over in ~1 hour (yes, I was a hopeful skeptic) and 2 gentleman showed up in ~45 min. They quoted their price for power water or rooter/snake (we chose water which was more expensive thinking it'd be more effective) and they got down to the awful dirty work. Our disgusting sewer back-up needed both rooter (first) and power water (second) and they charged us the cheaper of the two, the rooter-- their focus was clearly on fixing the back-up somewhere in our main sewer line under ground and under the house and they weren't going to rack up the charges. They were fast, clean (well, as clean as can be), efficient and most importantly, effective. By ~10:30am they were done and we had our toilet/tub in working order. I stand by my 5-star experience with Atlas and would absolutely and without hesitation use them again.

Prior to the repair, Joel responded to all my email concerns and inquiries. On the scheduled day, Joel's team arrived earlier. They immediately went to work to systematically diagnose the problem. I thought the problem was big as I imagined. A dishonest plumber can always take advantage of this situation. But Joel's team was very honest and gave suggestions on how to fix it right and the cheapest way. No unnecessary repairs were done. He was accurate and straight to the point. No surprises on the fees. What he quoted from the start will still be the same when the job's done. By the way they are very friendly, too. I called Atlas Plumbing on August 6, 2008 and Mark was there by the next morning to repair the leaking single-handle faucet in my bathtub/shower.  Atlas offers free estimates.  Mark arrived on time and provided an estimate of $125 which I thought was reasonable for labor and parts.  He completed the job efficiently.  He also provided information where I could obtain a replacement handle.  He was professional and pleasant.  I would very definitely recommend Atlas. Our bathtub had a slow leak for several days, and was getting slowly worse.  The fixtures and plumbing are from around 1920 or so, so I wasn't going to touch it.  Found these guys on Yelp, called in the AM, Dennis came in the PM, and he fixed it really quickly.   Friendly, efficient, and able to make his own washers (our neighbors gave him a sheet of rubber, and he cut them to fit since ours aren't available anymore).   $165 well spent since we had no idea how to deal with the antique situation!

just a great experience. i chose them because they rated so highly here on yelp, which is generally a good sign. but you never know. especially with plumbers. the last time i used a plumber (and i can't remember who they were now - pre-yelp days, you see) it turned out to be a false alarm, but just for turning up the guy charged me $75. for turning up. and telling me it was a false alarm. for his 5 minutes.
anyway, i digress. my trash compactor stopped working last saturday, and of course garbage was choking the sink, funky smells were spreading around the house, and dirty water was filling up. so i needed a plumber. i call atlas on the saturday, and ask for an appointment. they say, how does within 1 hour sound. i said it sounds good. and lo and behold, within an hour atlas turns up. they check the compactor, poke underneath for a bit, and then flick some switch. and it works again. turns out i had just tripped it somehow, and all that was needed was a knowledgeable finger. i ask him how much to come out, and he says nothing at all. to top it all off, he expressed a genuine interest after he made the foolish mistake of asking me about my turntables, and i no doubt bored him for a good 10 minutes talking about djing. top notch experience, highly recommended.

I've used this company a couple of times for sewer line inspections (when they stick the camera down the sewer line) and they were very affordable and pleasant to deal with. Showed up on time, etc.  During the course of one of these inspections, we found out the water heater was leaking and needed to be replaced. I made an appointment for Atlas to come back and do the work. They cancelled the appointment on the same day of the work, and this was really inconvenient. They said they had another plumbing emergency. Ok, I thought, I'll let this one go. I rescheduled the work. Then they cancelled on me AGAIN, same day as the work was supposed to be done, with not much notice. That's twice in a row -- this is unacceptable, especially when they know it was not a good thing to cancel the first time. I therefore do NOT recommend this plumber, except if you want an inexpensive sewer line inspection, and even in that case, beware that they may cancel on you on the same day of the appointment.

These guys are so awesome!  I'm a property manager in San Francisco and with the number of apartments I manage, I'm pretty much talking to Atlas everyday.  They are so accommodating, work great with my tenants, and their prices are reasonable.  You might be able to find a more affordable plumber, but their service is worth the cost.

Atlas replaced our sewer line and the cement along our driveway. We found Atlas to be responsive, quick, timely and clean. They were willing to provide a competitive quote and match the lowest bid we received, started early in the week and finished the project on time. No complaints what so ever.

We have used Atlas four or five times in the last several years.  From drain clogs to new faucets to, most recently, a new water heater which required an unusually difficult installation.  The work has been impeccable, the cost fair.  We are particularly impressed with Mo---his skill, professionalism, and thorough explanations---so much so that we now ask the office for him by name.  An added plus:  the office calls with accurate updates on arrival times (arriving early/late).  They have arrived on time more often than late.  We will continue to call on Atlas without hesitation.

Good People!  Honest as well.  I had them come out to snake our sewer.  They were quick.  About two days later another line clogged and they returned quickly and made it clear they would honor their guarantee of 60 days.  I was very impressed.  It was on Super Bowl Sunday as well!

Our sewer ejector pump failed with predictably messy consequences. We noticed around 5 p.m. and called Atlas (amongst others). They were the only ones to promise to come by that very evening between 9 and 10 p.m., which they did, amazingly enough. They quickly determined that the pump had packed it in and promised to come by the next morning at 9 a.m. to fix it. Sure enough, they were there the next morning with a brand new pump and proceeded to fix the ejector within a couple of hours. All in all, very professional and quick. The only reason I wouldn't give them 5 stars is that we had to pay quite a bit for all that prompt service. I have nothing to compare it against and all I know is that it did cause some walletary pain, but I have no complaints with the quality of Atlas's service.

Still in the middle of getting estimates to repair plumbing for an upstairs tub that is leaking through our downstairs ceiling.  But... just wanted to say how impressed we were with Mark, who stopped by within an hour.  He was professional and friendly and explained exactly what he thought needed to be done.  While he was here, we asked him to take a look at 2 running toilets, and instead of charging us or telling us a part needed to replaced, he took the time to tell us what we could do ourselves to save some money.  Great guy.  For the tub, Mark's quote was a bit higher than some other places we have contacted, but he was very upfront in saying that we would probably find another place to do it for cheaper, but that the work may not be as good.  Like I said, we're still in the middle of getting estimates, but there's a good chance we'll use Atlas.  If not for this repair, definitely for something in the future.

I was house sitting for a friend during the week.  They had neglected to tell me that one of their toilets was not flushing well.  Without getting graphic, a plumber was needed and I called Atlas because of friend recommendation.  Not only did they come out and take care of things quickly, they gave me a 10% discount.  Joel was friendly and efficient as save me quite the embarrassment by coming out and taking care of my problem before my friends came back from their vacation.

I have had to call on Atlas Plumbing and Rooter several times for a variety of different things and my most recent issue was for water in the bottom of the dishwasher.   Within 5 minutes, Atlas had the problem fixed!  They are friendly, on-time, and reasonably priced and are willing to go the extra mile to help (in some cases without charge if a quick fix).  THANK YOU MARK! You are awesome.

Wonderful service - on time and very friendly! Something was wrong with our shower and we weren't getting hot water. Turns out a scald block needed to be taken off. The price was a bit more than I anticipated but well worth the warmth. Definitely recommend Atlas!

Awesome Atlas experience! When I called to schedule the appointment, customer service was top notch.  Then, Frank came ON TIME and then was able to quickly and effectively figure out the problem with our dishwasher.  Second, he gave me a great deal on the fix.  I called Atlas based on all of the great Yelp reviews, and am glad that I did! I will definitely use these guys again.  I can't say enough how important being on time is.  I would give an extra star or some other kind of citation if I could!

I officially love these guys.  I had Thanksgiving at my apartment for 10 people on Friday and they were supposed to show up at 2.  My drains become completely clogged around 11:30.  I called Atlas and talked to their owner Joel and explained to him my situation.  He said he'd call me right back.  Less than 2 minutes later my phone rings and he tells me that he can have people here in 30 mintues.  These guys showed up in 20!  I couldn't believe it.  About an hour later (apparently it was a nasty clog) they finished up and my pipes were all back to normal.  The total was $225 which I don't think was that expensive considering they had to cut pipe, it was the day after Thanksgiving, and they showed up and fixed the problem quickly.  I would definitely call them again.

Showed up within an hour of my call on a Sunday.  Weren't able to solve the problem then, but didn't leave until we were sure the garage would not actually flood.  Returned the next day and implemented the correct repair.  Didn't charge me for Sunday's effort.  Final price seemed reasonable.

Atlas Plumbing did a great job through out the difficult process!

I am on the bottom floor in a 6 unit building.  Water was coming up thru the drain like a little fountain.  The tub was 2/3 full when I started to worry.  I plunged it back and used drain enzyme cleaner which is for slow drains.  I thought I had fixed it but the water came up thru the drain again-now 3/4 full.  After trying to fix it myself I Called  the landlord and between us both... 4 plumbers were to busy to come out.

The landlord was out of town so I was the guy who had to make it happen.
I was taking off a full day of work and had to get it done today.  I could not afford to be off of work another day.

I called Atlas.  They have a free estimate so I had them come out and inspect it and let me know.  Mike gave me the $145 for the snake.  I told Mike and his apprentice I would have to give the landlord the heads up and had them leave so I could get the landlord to commit to the same day fix.  Mike asked if I wanted them to wait till I worked out the logistics and I said no that it may be a while.  He said ok no problem and they left without any problem.  The landlord was out of town but Atlas worked with me; called the landlord and took his cc info over the phone. I would have bet Atlas like any business would have wanted some formal verification  in the transaction but I was thankful the Office folks at Atlas were very easy going.  They took the landlord name and phone number and they called him then called me back to tell  me the landlord ok'd the fix and is paying for it--then Mike and his apprentice Alex came back 20 minutes later as positive and professional as before.

The snake would not go down past the trap no matter how hard they both tried.
My very nice neighbor let us get into the garage where the pipes were for my tub.
Mike found the pipes in  the garage and found they were leaking onto the garage floor and items in boxes in the area when ever I took a shower.  The simple snake was not going to work because the pipe outside and below my tub was old style and to narrow for the snake.  Mike asked me if we could call the landlord to give him the options available for the fix and let him decide.  The landlord went for the fix the whole thing scenario-cut out the narrow j shaped pipe and use the snake from the bottom up then install a new wider j pipe.

Both Mike and Alex were hard working determined and honest professionals.
Mike was not out to gauge the customer.  He simply left it up to the landlord to make the final decision.  In fact Atlas waived the $145 snake charge and gave the final cost BEFORE doing the job.  No hidden fees.  No surprises.
Just hard working, determined, honest professionals from the office staff to the plumbers in the field.

I will recommend Atlas to everyone I know who needs a plumber!

I've lived in the same townhome for nearly 20 years, and nearly every year the kitchen drain gets clogged due to some wonky pipe layout.  How I wish I had called Atlas Plumbing the very first time. They came on time, quickly and efficiently got everything handled and even (without charging) tightened a loose fitting on the kitchen faucet.  Fair prices and honorable, helpful folks - I know who I'll call the next time I need plumbing assistance!

Yeah.  This guy came over within an hour on a Saturday and completed a difficult, dirty job.  On time, competent and tidy, and so I gave him a job to replace a hundred year old outside drain that leaked.  To me,  the product was plumb and professional.  It's something my craftsperson friends wouldn't find fault with.

BEST experience ever.  I can't say enough wonderful things about these guys.  They saved me on a very busy weekend (the big new year storm weekend) when everyone else wanted to charge me $300 to just come to my house!  I am still in shock about how quickly they came to my rescue and fixed my water heater for nothing.  They were so very prompt, honest, friendly, clean, etc.  Imagine many other great accolades.  I am eternally grateful and I wouldn't hesitate to call them first thing for any other issues.  BIG love to these guys.  My number one choice for ever and ever.  THANK YOU!!!!

I've had mixed luck with them. Once they installed a new toilet on an emergency basis and were very quick doing it. But I asked for a specific toilet I had researched on the Web, which they said they'd bring, but they they brought a different one. Eventually they said they'd exchange it if I wanted, but I ended up using it because it was Lo-Flo. They also worked on a leak underneath our sink and a drip, which they fixed. But the drip came back, I left a message, and never heard from them. As it's intermittent, I ended up fixing it myself eventually.

I called Atlas on Labor Day for a leaky faucet.  Ken came within an hour and 1/2 and fixed the problem in less than 1/2 hour.  It wasn't more expensive because it was a holiday and Ken was fast, efficient and friendly.  I would highly recommend this company and Ken and will be using them again in the future.   The price was very fair and I got $25 off for mentioning Yelp.  I'm very satisfied!

Atlas came promptly, evaluated the problem and provided a reasonable estimate and the did the work for the amount estimate.  This was a difficult job on an old home with antiquated plumbing and required skillful work to keep the project on course.  A positive experience that will result in follow-on business the next time we have plumbing issues.

Very professional and timely job.  They replaced my garbage disposal, which was rusted and rotting beneath the sink.  Even helped me shop for the new disposal myself, finding me a discount at a locally owned store in the Mission rather than Home Depot, so that I could save costs.  Highly recommended and would use again.

They came quickly once called. Quoted 3 hours but had a cancellation and were there in under 1. Sweet. Snaked my drain the best they could. Gave me good information and what I thought was a good explanation of the problem. Also gave me what I thought was a reasonable estimate for additional work. Waiting to see if I will go through with it and follow-up.

Atlas totally saved the day for us today! Our upstairs toilet was clogged and overflowing, and some of the water started leaking into the floor and coming through the ceiling downstairs, causing a massive, water-filled bubble in the paint. We called Atlas in a panic, and they were here in 10 minutes. Joel was really nice and definitely knew his stuff. He and his assistant quickly diagnosed and fixed the problem (a clog in the pipe 20 feet down the line). And they really went above and beyond to provide good service. Joel even climbed up on a ladder and drained the giant paint bubble in our downstairs ceiling. Also, because of the overflow, the bathroom was a total mess by the time they arrived, and they very helpfully cleaned it up before they left, even though the mess wasn't their doing. We thought Atlas's charges were totally reasonable -- $125 to snake the toilet, and another $50 to remove and replace the toilet, which they had to do to get to the clog so far down. We will definitely call Atlas the next time we have plumbing problems.

If I were in the business of creating superheroes, I'd make one in the shape of Frank. I called Atlas while another plumber from another company was still in my house. He'd been there two hours, hadn't solved what everyone thought was a simple problem with the hot water pressure in my shower, and spent half the time on his cellphone talking to his boss, whispering for advise. Oh, and it had taken three days to get him out here. When he suggested backflushing all the lines in my house or some such - another two hours - I decided to bail. Thank God I did. Atlas said they'd send someone within the hour (!) and Frank arrived about 15 minutes later. He dropped his tools and got right to business. He solved the problem in FIVE MINUTES. Moral of the story: there are plumbers who really know their stuff, and other who don't. Frank knows his stuff. And I feel thankful I never have to search for a good plumber again.

How did we get so lucky?  Two friends used this company and had endless praise.  Add my words to it.  Other companies had quoted between $1500 and $2000 for a top-rated, eco-water heater; it's complicated treck from the street, up-up-up courtyard landings; and more up-up-up a narrow stairway inside the unit to the second floor.  If that wasn't enough, the closet where the full-sized washer and dryer held only enough space to accommodate the heater by two inches.  I opened the front door; let them do their expert thing; and returned that night with everything in place and working well.  And all for $975 complete.  We were shocked to learn about someone else's claim that Atlas' $1500 charge did not include the whole project.  In fact, all of us had the exact same experience:  $975 or less for the whole deal.  Maybe the other person was referring to another company.  Joel even returned to my place much later, when I needed help with something that I thought was related to the installation, and it wasn't.  He helped anyway!  What awesome pride-skill-and-professionalism of service.

We live in the church parsonage and were having problems with our back toilet.  My husband used to be a plumber and worked for my Dad's business for over 5 years. He was doing the job himself but was struggling because of the lack of equipment. I saw that Atlas plumbing was at the church so I asked Joel he could take a look.  He made me feel like it was NO problem and went to  see what he could do.  As it turned out, there was no way that my hubby could have done this himself.  Apparently, some our children had in the past dropped things in the toilet, not wanting to put their hands in it, decided to flush the evidence away.  Turns up they were missing a few of there toys,  some pens and other misc things that were no longer recognizable.  Joel brought in a industrial snake but had to  blow the line out ( or something like that, men stuff??)  He helped my hubby put the toilet back in  with a new seal and everything was done in less than a hour. Had he not come over, my hubby would have had to go to rent some equipment and it would have taken all weekend!  Joel's prices were great!!!  Mind you, we know because it was the family business.  I would call Atlas Plumbing again

(Service took place on 1/22/2008.) We called up Atlas Plumbing and Rooter, noting the pleasant experiences from other Yelp users.  We had a problem with a drain on the side of the house (The drain is an exit for rainwater from the roof). The result was constant flooding.  After making an appointment with us, the plumbers came promptly in the two hour window that they gave us.  Three plumbers came over and tried to use a snake on the clog, but it was unsuccessful (Apparently the drain was completely clogged, and the couldn't get the device through).  They ended up using a more powerful tool, a high pressure water unit.  After working on the drain for awhile, they managed to shoot out all the dirt and debris that was clogging the drain.  The total for the service was $325 (Flat rate).  They worked fast, and did a complete and excellent job (The service took 1hr).  We now have a perfectly working drain.  They also have a 90 guarantee on their work.  We highly recommend Atlas Plumbing and Rooter.
