Askarov Handyman

He came the next day.  Did what I asked of him.  Very responsive and responsible. Will call him again if I need something done.

Unhku was hired to repair 1) loose screws in an attic door, which the attic ladder was attached to, and 2) loose IKEA shelving at my home. I assumed he would be able to fix it since he was charging the most at $95 per hour relative to another handyman. He sent one of his guys - Sam.
Sam just started to drill bigger holes into the attic door without coming up with a game plan. No inspection, nothing. He assumed the big screws will hold the attic stairs to the door but didn't realize how big of a hole he was creating. He used butterfly anchors for the door. I was thinking why would you use butterfly anchors into a door if there's nothing to latch on? I can understand using butterfly anchors for the drywall so you can latch on to the back of the drywall, but a door? I was worried and provided wood putty to him so he can fill up the big holes he created. He didn't sue it. I asked him if it was safe, Sam said yes.
On to the next assignment - the IKEA shelving. My IKEA shelving was loose, and I wanted it fix. He just moved the shelves around. I kept on asking him if we can fix this issue, but he didn't really understand or ignore me. Sam's English wasn't great, so it was extremely difficult to communicate with him.  
I gave up and had some extra work to fill up the time. I was worried they wouldn't know what they were doing. I asked Sam to drill some IKEA cabinets into the walls and install hooks. Guess what? My IKEA cabinets are crooked and not leveled. Sam was nice, so I felt bad complaining about the job. I kept on telling him to level the IKEA cabinet, but he didn't understand.
I reached out to Unhku to let him know my concerns and if 1) the attic ladder was safe and 2) can I fix my loose IKEA shelves. He came to look and told me my wall was not leveled so he won't be able to fix the shelving.
After they left, I pulled down the attic door/ladder so I can store some items in the attic. Guess what - the attic stairs came apart from the door. I informed Unhku. He told me to reach out to the manufacturer. Like seriously? What a professional! No apologies.... nothing.
He takes my $, breaks my attic door, expects me to fix it, and tells me to reach out to the manufacturer. No dignity. What if I was an old senior? Does he leave me hanging too? This was the 1st time I hired a contractor/handyman who didn't own up to his work. I read a similar issue with an individual giving him a 2-star review on his page, which I wish I saw earlier. I even asked them to give me a quote on creating a stair storage under my stairs. I am glad I didn't hire them. What if my stairs collapse and he goes go ask the manufacturer?
I basically paid them $210 just to punch some screws into the wall, which I could had done. They didn't fix anything I originally hired them to do. No invoice, no apologies, no empathy. Seriously no invoice - makes me wonder if they have insurance. If you want a basic job, sure hire them and pay them a premium. If you want a detailed and complex job - I would look elsewhere. You won't be able to effectively communicate your needs.

Uchkun did an amazing job installing an window AC unit for my father. The windows were painted shut in the house and he was able to get them open and set it up perfectly. We are so happy with the results. He was so nice and professional. Will definitely recommend him to anyone that needs a handyman. And I will absolutely be hiring him for future projects. Silly me thought it was a good idea to use the counter to break apart frozen burger patties. But thankfully Uchkun came to my rescue! He was quick to respond and to get me scheduled in. He took his time and did the job carefully. Will definitely be calling him again for future home improvement projects.

Had a door curtain in a door frame between my room and the kitchen. Which wasn't a problem for awhile until I got a cat that wouldn't stay in my room, so I needed a door installed. Was quickly responded by Uchkun through Yelp, who sent me an estimate and soon after an appointment was set. I was worried I couldn't be assisted if I didn't have a door in hand for the installation to which he took care of that worry off my hands. He's very nice and very efficient. My cat is not happy but I most definitely am!! Thank you Uchkun.

These two guys are amazing!  They came to my new bungalow and did a lot work! They painted, hung pictures and installed six feet of cabinets after demoing the old ones!  Fast and efficient!  I'm hiring them again to do more work this week.  

Can't go wrong, hire them.

Highly recommend Askarov Handyman services. Our home was recently burglarized and Uchkun was able to show up the next morning and install a new door for us. Extremely professional, polite, and a great person to be around. If you live in LA county, you won't find a better handyman than Uchkun.

Uchkun is a hard worker, responsive, reliable, and works quickly. He is also good at figuring out how to assemble things. He handles big or small jobs with ease. I would highly recommend him for installing tvs, assembling equipment, and any other handyman needs.

I called to get estimate.  I told him what I needed and he just hung up and didn't call me back. Don't waste your time with this guy. Some people need to work on customer service skills.

Uchkun is the best!!!! After hanging a wreath, my door stopped closing, even after I took off the wreath. Uchkun responded to my request right away and arrived within the hour. Well it turned out there was a mail stuck in the door (doh!). He wasn't going to charge me but I felt bad for my stupidity.  He helped me smooth the door so it would close with the wreath hanging. Askarov mounted a tv, shelving, curtains and shades when I moved into a new place. He did a great job and was easy to work with!

Your response is inappropriate. Great, I get your rate is $95/hr with a 2-hour minimum. Where is the estimate? Can you do the job? I have a photo. Do you want to see it to determine the estimate or will you come in person? There are many unanswered questions and your response leaves me to believe you are NOT INTERESTED! So don't answer my request!

We had a hard time finding a good handyman until we met Uchkun. So far he's patched 2 holes in our ceiling, fixed 2 recessed lights that were flickering, fixed a sliding cabinet drawer, and did some other small jobs around our house. Not only is he knowledgeable and skilled but he's fast, efficient, and very neat. We couldn't be happier with his work and service and plan to continue working with him. We've also referred him to our friends and neighbors. We highly recommend you get in touch with him if you need work done around the house.

So, I have some built in cabinets in my office that I wanted to get painted a nice black color. Initially it was more of an oak polished color and it was giving classroom vibes, first thing I did was I went onto Yelp to request some quotes and I did one of the worst possible things which was not hiring the proper person. I hired someone else to do the job and they really gave terrible service. I should've went with uchkun to begin with because they left my cabinets worse than before and strung me along for an entire month. After that whole ordeal I ended up messaging Uchkun to see if he could redo it properly. Uchkun responded promptly and quickly giving me a date on which he could start the job, he gave me a competitive rate and the best possible service ever, I really love the way the cabinets turned out he did such a great job and on top of it he had to remove the paint which was used by the other contractor since it was not correct for this type of work. He came into my office space and covered everything very very professionally and began to use a power sander to clean everything up and remove all the polish. After this he went on to clean and prep for painting. Uchkun applied the proper amount of primer and used the correct paint type and color to deliver amazing results. 10/10 I would recommend him to all of my friends and family and I most definitely will hire him again.

The handyman was punctual, reliable and easy to work with. His rates are reasonable and I would recommend him for handyman functions. There was a question about billing which was corrected immediately so his honesty there was greatly appreciated!

He wasn't even chosen for my job, but was responsive and showed great signs of embracing the lost art of customer service and sold his services like myself, by selling HIMSELF as not an amateur, but a seasoned veteran and professional. This is (unfortunately) a current-day rarity. Just because of this one dimension, this vendor/individual stands out as a shining star. If he wins the bid and does an exceptional job, my review will be modified from 4 stars to 5 stars. Thank you,  sir!

I needed to patch a whole in our garage ceiling that was left over from some plumbing work done. Askarov arrived on time to do the work and quoted us a reasonable rate for the work. To patch, paint, and texture the ceiling to match the area around it.

Askarov was quick to respond and work with us because we didn't have any of the paint and patching materials.

Was very pleased with the service. I described what the problem was, the kitchen sink needed to be reset and re-caulked. Did everything in about 2 hours. Looks great. I will be calling again for sure!

Just had him install two semi flush mount  lights where we had recessed lighting. He did it within an hour, quickly and with ease. I also made the appointment same day which was really nice. Will definitely be reaching out again!

Did a great job replacing an AC unit installed in the wall. Responsive and on time. I will certainly use him again in the future.

I ended up making a crack in my door jam he quoted me a flat rate of $150.00  he also mentioned it would be any where from $15-$30 for supplies. He came within the hour & did a good job. I ended up paying $165.00 for the entire services. I recommend his services.

Uchkun helped install a patio electric outlet and install some smart switches in my home. He did a great job. I was very happy with his work and would definitely recommend him.

Although I did not personally see the finished product, I was pleased with Askarov's quick response time and ability quickly fix the issue  with cabinets at a tenant occupied property. Rates were fair & reasonable as well.

What a pleasure! They sent crew of 2 very polite men who quickly made an assessment of ceiling smoke detectors issue and fixed the problem. While here they also assembled my 2 new audio speaker stands. That was also done quickly with a lot of care. I'm very happy with their work and highly recommend this company

Contacted just yesterday and my job was done today!!!!! Could not be happier with the response time and the service was spectacular. I would recommend Askarov to get your job done anytime. I just needed what I thought was a simple swap out of a ceiling fan and it ended up being a bigger job then anticipated he went out grabbed the correct parts for the extra work and was reasonable on the additional cost for the additional work he had to put in. Mr. Askarov responded to my request immediately. I sent him a list of repairs we needed along with pictures and he let me know his availability. I did have to change the original date we set and Mr. Askarov was very accommodating. When he arrived at our property he was prepared with all of the necessary tools and completed the numerous tasks all in one day! He updated electrical outlets and switches, installed a porch light fixture and door bell. He also painted the brick surrounding the fireplace and the patio cement area. In addition , he built a side wood gate and installed it along with a latch! My husband and I were very pleased with the quality of Mr. Askarov work and we will be calling in him again soon.

I was so happy with this experience! Two guys came to replace some hinges and fix a leak in my bathroom sink. It ended up being a lot of work to fix the leak, but they did efficiently and I haven't had any trouble since. They were professional, fast and effective. I will definitely hire these guys again!

There was more work to do than the original quote and he gave me a very fair price on the extra work and did a great job.

Uchkun replaced a broken window for us and did an excellent job. He is kind, communicative, efficient, very knowledgable, and his prices are fair! We'll definitely use him again if the need arises. :)

We were installing a new dishwasher and ran into an electrical issue during installation. It was a Saturday and I had no dishwasher, until we were able to get the electrical issue sorted out. I reached out to yelp and Askarov was the first to reply that he was able to come out the next day, on a Sunday! He was courteous, efficient, punctual, very reasonably priced and did a fantastic job. I highly recommend!

Uchkun was a great help! He was responsive to my request right away, even at 11pm at night! My bed frame completely collapsed the night before because the wooden beams on the bottom were broken and not fitted correctly after my move. He came right away the next morning at 8am and fixed it! He came ready with all the tools and was really professional and nice! I highly recommend using his services for all your household projects. I'm definitely asking for his help next time I run into a problem around my house.

Unhkun was hired to replace a light fixture at our townhouse complex.  He did an excellent job and the HOA was pleased with the work.  I requested that he replace the wood trim on a balcony.  He and Siedd did a great job replacing and painting the trim, although parts of the carpet were left soiled.  I ask Unhkun if he could repair drywall located in my bathroom, and he said yes.  Once again he did an excellent job.  I asked if he could paint two upstairs bathrooms, and if so when could he start.  He and Siedd proceeded to paint the two bathrooms starting December 8, 2021.  By December 10th one bathroom was complete, or so they thought.  I pointed out the poor job done around the edges.  I also removed the toilet tanks to show they had not painted behind them.  The paint job was even more horrible in the master bedroom with paint bleeding through the ceiling, as well a peeling off the walls in some places.  I requested the jobs be done properly, and they started a do over December 20, 2021.  I knew then he was behind in his obligations so I told him to do a job, and then come back to paint the bathrooms properly in between jobs.  So December 22, he allegedly contracted Covid-19.   I told him to get well, and he resumed work January 11, 2022.  I had to nudge him along politely with text every few days.  He would squeeze me in around 3pm every three to four days, and paint a couple hours.  February 2, 2022 he finally realized he bit off more than he could chew and in all fairness he reimbursed the money for one unfinished bathroom, and a partial payment for the other partially unfinished room.  February 10th, I contacted a professional painter that started at 8:00 am and finished at 2:40 pm, and that included a lunch break.  I gave him a five star review.  To add insult to injury Unhkun informed me I could re-attach the toilet tank once he had partially painted one bathroom.  I could re-attach the toilet tank.  I thought I was paying him to do that!  I re-attached the toilet tanks as well as install new towel racks, rings, and accessories.  Which he should have done.  I cleaned up after them every day they worked.  The money I paid him, was nothing to sneeze at.  I expected more professionalism.  In return I lost time that I will never get back, and absorbed additional cost to pay the new painter. I also paid to have the carpet cleaned.  I had to constantly re-adjust my schedule to accommodate him.  He will admit I brought them breakfast, and lunch.  I made sure they had plenty of soft drinks, coffee, and water.  I'm not a tyrant, and I left them alone to do their job.  In closing Unhkun is a really nice guy as you can see from the pictures and positive reviews.  He would tell you I wasn't angry, never yelled, and was patient throughout the process.  We parted professionally.  He did indeed let me know he definitely learned from this experience.  I wish him well, and success with his business.
