In a pinch, I needed a plumbing company to fix my overflowing toilet at my business. They came in with no hesitation, fixed it within an hour and was more than accommodating about the entire situation. Cleaned the bathroom, and was very informative about what the problem was.

They will be my go to plumbers for any problems I have in the future.

Al does a great job, I've had him work on our home for years. He can be very busy so sometimes it's hard to find time he has free and I can tell he's overfilling his schedule because he wants to help his customers so much, so you might want to ask when he's got enough free time, but he's popular because he does good work and good competitive prices. He's especially good with electrical work. He was able to able to solve a small problem with our heater in a few minutes with rewiring after other people I called wanted thousands of dollars to replace entire heating system.

Ignore the negative review about some other guy named Adam. That's not the right guy. I know Al and Luis and their crew, and they have nothing to do with anyone named Adam or any business by that name. Some other reviewer probably misunderstood their phone interface or something. I think it's unfair Al is being affected because of something a completely unrelated business did.

BEWARE!!!

We were contacted by Adam Stutzman from both phone numbers (951) 552-5632 - which linked to ALS HANDYMAN SERVICE and from (951) 251-9141 - This number is linked to Suncity Construction and Handyman Service.

We had Adam Stutzman come out for an estimate for our commercial plumbing and tile work. He was very nice and seemed knowledgeable. The price sounded right so we gave him a deposit on Monday June 4, 2018 and planned to start that work on Friday- his next available start date. Unfortunately our landlord did not approve the renovation we had planned. I immediately contacted Adam on 6/6/18 to let him know the landlord did not approve our renovation and if he could send a refund for our deposit. He said through his bank it would take 30 days to process a refund. Although we have maintained contact he continues to push out our refund with different excuses. It has been 70 days and we continue to wait. NOTE: no materials or work were purchased or provided by Adam during this.

I will update if/when we receive our refund.

side note: He also contacted us from a secondary number which is linked to ALS Handyman Services. So he might have/work with 2 different companies. BEWARE!!!!!!

I have never written a negative review on Yelp, but think this one is appropriate. I contacted Al because of his Yelp rating, and he repaired a sink drain for my tenant in a condo in WLA.

My criticism is that although I paid him, and he was working for me, he criticized the existing plumbing installation to the tenant, which was relatively new. He could have told me that directly and privately, as I was his customer, but chose to shoot his mouth off. Now I know that every handyman criticizes the jobs they see. It is human nature, and builds up their importance, but it was very bad form and I won't use him again.

He was late. Smelling like he was drinking or did not take a shower in a very long time.

He argued with me that I was lucky he even showed up today.

He then started to argue about what his rate was and that he was charging a flat rate and not hourly. We had agreed on an hourly rate before hiring him. He did not every single item on our list to do so there is no way that he could have possibly agreed to an flat rate.

When i pointed this out to him he got even more angry.

I was about to start telling him what to do when he threatened that he was going to leave as he is a very busy person I told him ok!

Just used Al and his crew again for another job, added shelf and hang bar in new closet and several other small tasks around the house. Al, Luis, and Douglas are so polite and kind, I really enjoy working with them on projects. Reasonable prices, good work, and good people! Highly recommend

Absolutely terrible.

In fact, my experience was so bad, I created a yelp account just to write a bad review so no one else has to experience their lack of professionalism.

So, I'm in a pinch because my weekly handyman bailed on me, so I call Al up the day before and he says he has to confirm in the morning that he can make it out to Hollywood Hills where I am.

I give him the address over the phone and through text, DOUBLE confirmed the right address, and felt relieved that someone was going to come help out.

Next morning, I get a phone call at 9am asking for the address AGAIN. I gave the full address and stood by for an hour in the open garage.

10am passes and I figure they must be running late. It's all good. I get a missed phone call maybe 15 minutes later and a text saying they can't find the house.

I call back multiple times on my phone with no answer. In fact they went straight to voicemail.

What? Did they disappear? No.

I call again on a different phone and naturally they pick up right away.

Me: Hey Al, it's Nathan. Were you guys able to find the house?

Al: No. We couldn't find the house and no one answered the phone so we left for a different project. Can you text us step-by-step instructions on how to get to your house and maybe we'll come later?

Me: You know what? Nevermind. Just don't come by anymore.

Al: DONT WASTE MY TIME!

Wow. That's terribad. And I'm not even exaggerating.

So here's my review in a nutshell:

-Can get you next day service

Slops:
-Will not show up unless you baby sit them and constantly check on them
-Can't use basic navigation skills
-Bad Customer Service

My advice:
You can take a chance on hiring these guys, but if you have a bad experience like me and other yelpers, you're just wasting your time and money.

Don't call these guys.

When My 'Honey Do' experience went south, I returned to Yelp to find a handyman to finish and fix what Steve and Gil left in their wake.

Easily got a hold of Al slightly less than a week before appt. We scheduled Friday (today) first thing in the morning. Sent him pics and description of 4 tasks. Day before (a.m.) I sent him a text to confirm next day appt as scheduled. No response. Sent text that evening (night before) beginning to panic. No response. Morning of, left vm. No response. Day shot. Finally, he texts 'are we still on.. tried to contact you but....' (huh?)

He finally shows up about 11:45. His worker about 45 mins later. When we got to the topic of the inversion chair I mentioned my back is bad due to sports; running and dancing, etc. He got stuck on the fact I was a dancer (not that kind) and at two different times within 10 mins asked me about dancing... (Uh. No.) I finally excused myself.

The inversion chair he and his worker put together without the washers. He asked me to come check, I saw all the washers on the floor. He explained as extra parts. I looked closer to see the screws were (almost) all installed without washers. He was clearly pissed and I heard tools hit the floor hard because I asked him to please install using all the parts :(

What I didn't understand was the worker. He was basically here to aide Al in very simple tasks. Because of this, a simple ladder shelf assembly took about 3x longer than it needed to be.

Quality of workmanship seems to be of much higher quality than Honey Do, but the disconnects in communication and paying for a worker that wasn't working per cea affected the overall experience to the extent I would not ask him back. That is, unless I didn't care when or if he showed up and how he would act if something didn't go right.

I just moved and needed 4 rooms that needed curtain and rods put up and 1 room that needed old curtain tracks removed. Al came within a few hours even though it was a late request. He was very friendly and did a great job in a reasonable amount of time. His rates were reasonable as well. I will definitely call him soon to finish the rest of our window treatments.

I've actually used him once for a minor job, caulking my tub, and he was fine. I tried to contact him for more repairs but found him to be completely unreliable. Knowing that he can be hard to reach, I left about 4 messages. He never returned any of my calls but I was able to get through on 2 occasions. Both times he said that he would call me back to schedule the repair, which never happened. At our last phone conversation, he said that he would come by today but when I called him to find out the exact time, he had no recollection whatsoever of the conversation.

If you don't have anything better to do with your days than to wait around for people, then Al is the guy for you!

Al did several jobs in our house, fixing multiple things: a leaky faucet, a broken large wooden gate, installing a new power outlet, a small paint job, and fixing old windows that just wouldn't work properly. All in all he was excellent. This guy really knows what he is doing:
- Does the job quickly and efficiently
- Fixes things instead of replacing them
- Charges very reasonable fees

I asked other contractors for quotes for the same jobs before calling Al. All of them asked for fees which were 2-3 times higher, and required replacing parts that Al was able to fix for less than half the price. Al is the best, I will definitely call him again when in need.

I've never used Al before, because he never showed up for our appointment. I called and left a message to get a quote and he did call me right back. He said he'd come over the next day between 2-4.

Next day: 4:30 and still no Al. So I called him. He said he was finishing up a job and would come over at 5:30 or 6. He apologized for not calling me to tell me he was running late. I said o.k., I'll wait for you to come at 5:30 or 6, but call me if anything comes up or you're running late.

6:30 and still no Al and no phone call. I don't get why he can't just call and tell me he's be late, is busy or whatever else. Calling people back, communicating properly and showing up when you say you will is just part of doing good business.

SO my girlfriend put a bunch of holes in the wall. And then we broke up. And then I had to move out. So to get my damage deposit back I had to do a level of patching that went a little out of my depth. I called Al. He picked up , said he'd be over in the morning and gave me a quote so reasonable for a 3 bedroom house I didn't even think to get competitive bids.

He was over in the morning, on time, and he and his assistant patched every hole and one or two I didn't see. There was a built in shelf that was tilted and had been since I moved in. He fixed that too without me asking. When I pointed out one or two patches that could be a little better he didn't hem or haw. He smiled, fixed em to my liking and swept up after himself.

Is it hard to get him on the phone? It was. A little. He's a one man band. He told me he tried getting other helpers to start work for him and then for him to show up and make sure it's right but he was never happy with their labor. So he had to re-do it. He just won't put his name in someone else's hands. he should get a receptionist probably but that's the price you pay for being good and doing it all yourself. Me? I'd hire him again in a second. Even if I did have to wait for him to pickup.

Called Al in the morning to see if he can help me get some faucets installed in the afternoon. He was on a job, but said he can get to it later in the afternoon. Called Al back around 1pm, and he said he'll get to me a bit later in the day. He didn't call back til 7pm, and I had dinner plans, so didn't get my faucets installed.

I should have told him I had dinner plans, but when he originally said later in the afternoon, I assumed it would be around 3pm... not 7pm.

He's batting a 0.500 with me right now.

Depending on what I need, will give him a try again in the future... but definitely won't count on him for time sensitive stuff.

There comes a time in every dude's life where he has to man-up and fix something in the house. For me, that was replacing my garbage disposal. There also comes that time when he needs to admit, I don't have the tools to fix this nor do I want to buy them now, I don't have the time to fix it because people are coming over this weekend, and it would probably be cheaper this time to have someone else do it right the first time.

Enter Al's Handyman Service.

Al came highly recommended from Jenna S. and overall he did a great job. I had a leak coming from the wall where my washer/dryer was hooked up to and Al was able to come the very next day and fix it at a great price.

He's truly honest, works around your schedule, and is someone good to know for the potential problems you might have.

Awesome guy, helped me with my light fixtures problem that 2 other handy man couldnt do because it was too high up and they wanted me to go and rent a big ladder from home depot. But he did in no second.
And after that he helped me with my plumbing problem, he even waited and flushed a couple times and checked out my other restrooms to make sure everything is working perfectly. GREAT GUY awesome prices and really cares I can only recommend

I had an incredibly stressful leak and drain clog this Saturday morning at my apartment. I called Al at about lunch - and despite him being at a job when I called - he managed to be at my house by 2 o'clock.

Upon showing up I got the most ridiculously competitive quote I have ever recieved from a plumber. The problem I have in my house is recurring and I have been quoted an upward of 600$ and settled for 350$. Al was so honest and told me it was a job that would take him less than an hour and he would do it for 85$.

He was incredibly sweet, personable, professional, and funny. I will definitely definitely call him again. It has been years where I've been looking for a reliable and affordable plumber/handyman. I'm so thrilled to have found Al.

Al was a life saver. I thought I could install my security door easily by myself (thanks Lowes for that false hope)! Totally frustrating. I called several handymen Al picked up right away, quoted a price in my range and came over right away. He was professional, friendly, prompt and did an amazing job. He unscrewed my crooked screws in order to do it right and even sanded down a metal attachment to fit my doorway perfectly.

Al and Luis are awesome!

The day before we left for vacation, our pipes burst. Totally sucks. I Yelped and found several people, but Al was the only guy that actually showed up. To do the job, he had to crawl under the house to fix the pipe and in the process, actually found another pipe that needed replacing. AWESOME!

2 weeks later, our toilet started leaking at the bottom. I think it needed caulking but my husband and i are just too busy. Al came over and fix it and installed a new doohickey that made the toilet stop gushing in the middle of the night.

AWESOME on-call handymen. YAY! Thanks guys.

Five reasons to call Al:

1. Super-professional
2. Extremely punctual (he said he was coming at noon and he was downstairs at 11:45am, waiting for it to be noon before buzzing me)
3. Speaks excellent English
4. Respectful (i.e. if you're a girl at home alone, you can call him)
5. Excellent work! He can do anything around your house! He does plumbing, tiling, anything you need. So, no calling around to five different companies. Just call Al.

I Called Al last night at 8pm thinking I would get the machine, not only did he answer, he called me back one hour later to confirm an appointment and quote me over the phone on the job.

Sure enough I got a call from Al 1hr before the appointment, to tell me he would be 10minutes early. I appreciated the call as I had to leave work to go and meet him. He was fast, friendly and allowed my dog to sit right beside him as he worked away at the door frame.

The job took less than an Hour, Looked Amazing, and he saved the wood in my door frame instead of having to buy it new.

When it came time to pay, Al charged me less than the estimate, citing that because he was able to re-use some of the wood it would cost less.

I plan on having a Long, Long relationship with Al....

These guys saved my you-know-what! I needed to hang 9 sets of blinds in an office that had an interior window in almost every wall. I measured the window carefully and ordered the blinds. I thought I could install them myself in an afternoon, but as soon as I started, I realized it was too big a job for me. But by that time my deadline was only two days away. I called about 10-12 handyman services on a Saturday morning. Most of them were not available on such short notice. One was available, but wanted to charge me an arm and a leg.

Al said he could come that afternoon, and would charge a very reasonable price. I jumped at it.

I met him and his helper at my office. They were on time, very nice, and started working right away. They didi a great job and, two hours later, all of my blinds were installed and looking great.

I'll definitely use Al again when I need a handyman.

After trading calls a bit on a Friday morning and afternoon, which made me nervous as hell after all the bad reviews, Al and Luis showed up at my place the next day (15 minutes early actually) to replace a garbage disposal, snake a drain, fix a faucet, fix a running toilet and try to figure out how my Dish would work with my new DVD/BluRay player... something that no one could seem to figure out until Al came over. He literally made it his mission to get it working which I appreciated.

I found them both to be very friendly. They worked quietly and pretty quickly considering how much I needed done. Al told me to please call him if I had any problems later with anything they'd worked on and he would return to fix said item for free. That was three weeks ago and everything is still A-okay.

He's a one-man shop not Roto-Rooter. Just know that going in.

I would highly recommend these guys to anyone and will use them again in the future.
I had accidently locked my room door one night and I didn't want to wait for a locksmith to get here so I tried opening it myself by kicking the door. I guess I kicked a little too hard and busted the side of the door.
I called Al's Handyman Service and explained what it looked like and he quoted me 85-100 bucks. Came the next day when he said he would and did an amazing job. The door looks brand new, everyone was very friendly, professional and cleaned up after. They charged exactly what the quoted, $85.00.

Al 'is the best. He showed up in a days notice. I needed a broken Chandelier fixed (wiring, sockets), before a guest arrived. Al fixed repairs quickly. I am very pleased with his level of skill in most everything, and will call on him again for help, and will also reference him to others needing any job well done. Al was very nice and pleasant, too. He even took off his shoes when standing on my bench, which he didn't need to do. I'm very happy to have found him.

I used Al last month to repair several toilets that were constantly running
& one stopped flushing all together. My bathroom sink got stopped & the tub closure needed adjustment.

Al arrived only 1 hr late but with a helper. Kinda surprised bc It doesn't take 2 men to snake a sink & install new toilet handles. I texted him previously as to what I needed done & tried to send him a photo of the toilets. He never got the photos so he went to Osh to buy the supplies. The handles are so cheap & weird looking. I never have seen toilet handles flaring upwards. Al said that was all he could find bc of my toilet style. I mean I can live with them of course, but still is weird. He installed the new insert thingy inside the top of the toilet & it went well 10 min top. He snaked the sink & that went quickly. It was a very EASY job for any handyman.

Al & his helper were very friendly & liked to talk a lot. If paying by the hr. This wouldn't fly well!!! I would say they spent an average of 2 to 2 1/2 hrs ( 1 hr or so for was going to Osh) about 10 min away. I was pretty surprised that they charged me $300. I was paying for his helper who really just assisted giving Al the tools needed; like a sous chief!

Ok so, I basically paid $50 an hr ( which is fine) including the materials which couldn't have been more than $75.00. BUT my grief is if Al came alone, I could have saved at least $100 which I totally needed since Xmas was in 4 days.
My mistake: I didn't ask questions!!!

Moral of the story: Ask how much does he charge; is it per hr or job? Do you have to pay for a helper, etc.,? I would def use him again if I new how much it was going to cost & I could afford the price quoted.

Al is a very nice person who worked very hard and efficiently. He was able to quickly diagnose the problem with our dryer and vent problems. He picked up new parts and installed them in less than an hour and did a great job. I would highly recommend him.

I called Al's for a quote for my bathroom (which was recently remodeled), and I needed small repairs involving installing a recessed medicine cabinet, some touch up paint and minor patchwork and paint repair to my shelves. After a few phone calls to them (they didn't respond right away), they quoted me $150 and scheduled the job for Friday 9/20/13.

When they arrived, they were very nice. I had asked numerous times if they had instruments to see if there is pipe behind wall on which I wanted the medicine cabinet installed. They informed me that the instruments are not accurate (they said they have a 50% accuracy) and that they have to cut the wall and see. They cut the wall, found a pipe, and informed me the medicine cabinet could not be installed there. So, they proceeded to patch the wall and repaint it. They installed the second cabinet in another place in my bathroom. They charged me an extra $50 for having to patch up the wall and install the cabinet in another location (even though their instruments should have taken care of that in the first place, but I am not a contractor and cannot argue with them on the 'accuracy' of their tools).

After they left, I looked at the wall that they patched up and both my roommate and I could visibly see that the patchwork and paint were not properly done. The wall was not texturized well, and you can visibly see the square outline of the cut through the wall and the paint.

In addition, the touch up paint that I also had them work on was not straight and the install of the medicine cabinet, after measuring it with a level, is off by 6 degrees (the first cut which they patched up was cut straight, incredibly).

I called and texted them informing them that the patchwork paint over the first cabinet wall cut is not textured properly and you can clearly see the outline of the cut in the wall behind the paint (I didn't even address the other two issues as this was the most jarring and ugly looking thing in the bathroom). The only response I received by text is that I didn't answer my phone (I did not receive a missed call from them) but they did say they would come that Friday 9/27 to fix the wall. I waited for them but did not receive a call or text on that Friday and they never showed up.

The reason I am even giving them two stars is that the two workers that came were very nice, and that the shelves were done properly (albeit the only thing that was done so). But it seems there is definitely a communication issue involved with this company, both at the top and with the workers. If they would have just come back and properly patched up and painted the wall that they did such a horrible job on that it is an eyesore in my bathroom, I would not have given them a bad review.

Because of all the great ratings on Yelp, I called Al to work on several jobs on my house. He showed up on time to go through the jobs, one of which was to fix a roll-out cabinet in my kitchen. He took the cabinet, and then disappeared for two weeks. He finally left a note on my door to call him. I did, twice, before he called me back to say he was ready to come back and put the cabinet in. He set the appointment for today at 8. It is now 9:30 and he just called to say he wanted to come at noon. Not cool. I'm beyond annoyed now, and will find another person to finish the job.

I've been using Al for years and over-all my experience with him has been very positive. Him and his business partner Luis are usually able to come to my house and assist with whatever issues I have on very very short notice - which I really appreciate it. All of the work they have done for me has been great - in fact they fixed some work a past handyman had done that didn't last. I have dogs and they are very sweet to them - which is always a plus in my book :) and they are priced very reasonably as well. I use Al often, and I would definitely recommend him and his services

First week, no return call, second week, no show on Saturday and then (after a phone call) no show and no call at the rescheduled time three hours later. Hey -- 99% of life is just showing up. He might be the most talented handyman in town, but he is useless if he never shows up. This guy does not deserve your business.

I guess the reviews speak for themselves. IF he actually shows up, he does good work. But like so many other reviewers, I waited around for HOURS for him and kept getting the runaround (I'm on my way, I'll be there in less than an hour)

I literally waited for him for 9 hours that day. I told him that had he been upfront with me from the beginning I would have hired someone else or at least used my time more wisely. I could have been running errands or hiking or ANYTHING besides literally waiting by the phone for 9 long hours. But he literally kept me hanging the entire time with promises that he was on the way. Unbelievable.

The installation he did was fine. But in the 9 hours i spent waiting for him, i could have had someone else complete every project in my house that needed to be done.

Sorry Al - you really need to be respectful of other people's time. Those of us who work Mon-Fri really hate to see our Saturdays go (sorry for the pun) down the drain.

Unlike other bad reviews, Al actually picked up my call and agreed to come check out my problems. But then he didn't pick up my subsequent phone calls. No responses to my voicemails. After FIVE days, he finally shows up. But with no tools and in a big rush to leave. No intention of helping me with my simple repairs. He rushes off in five mins. What a waste of time.

I am new to the area and when I found out my shower was leaking it was really annoying trying to find a responsible, fairly priced handyman. Plumbers are way expensive and the first two who came didn't even find the source of the leak and gave me some BS reasons. Then I found Al on yelp and was SO happy he had time to come the next week.

Al was polite, professional, and very thorough. He spent way longer looking at my wall and showers, going through each inch of the tub to finally find the crack responsible and caulked both my showers neatly. He even gave me advice on what kind of sealants to buy and showed me how to caulk myself. Al was a very trustworthy guy and I would hire him again in a heartbeat. Plus the price was more than fair.

We had numerous things around the house done. A wall patched, base molding installed, wall shelving installed...Al was terrific. Super polite, friendly, and did a decent job for an incredibly fair price. After our first experience with Al, we had him back again to remove a door frame in our bathroom, and re-grout our tub. His attitude and prices cannot be beat. If he were a bit better at finishing, he'd have gotten a full five stars, but his work is a little rough.

I had a plumbing emergency early this morning and because of the Yelp reviews I called Al. He was over at my apartment in 2 hours flat and quoted me a very reasonable rate. Is it weird to say that I can't wait for the next thing in my piece of crap apartment to break, just so I can use his handyman services again?? I will use Al again and again, he is a Westside GEM!

I called Al for some work I needed to do around the house before installing new closets. I needed some baseboards removed, window shades installed, and some paintings hung. Al did a great job and was very pleasant to talk with. He's very polite and gave me a very reasonable quote. He's not very organized. I had to call him multiple times to confirm time and work to be done and he doesn't always follow through on calling back. I did see that he kept getting calls after calls even when he was doing the work at my place; so can't really blame him for not having time to follow through on everything. Seems like he can do better with some type of organization system (google calendar perhaps?) to allow people to request his time. Overall, a very positive experience. I would call Al again and refer him to friends. Over communication is the key to get what you want with Al.

I called Al based on the great reviews. He had difficulty committing to a confirmed appt time for one reason or another, and at one point didn't even bother calling me back to say he wasn't coming. I only found out after I called him for being late. After many attempts to have him come in, he didn't want to inspect the damage at all and just gave me a quote over the phone without seeing it in person.

I used of have one of those home warranty programs then one day I was introduced to Al and I have hired him ever since. That was 10 years ago. He has never failed to fix our needs or come up with a solution. We have a couple of cabins up in Running Springs and other rentals, he takes care of them, too. He even had the solution on how to hang a fan on an A-Frame. Very creative and a great guy, too.

I just bought 3 mirrors (8 ft by 4 ft) and called Al to install (called monday). He picked up the phone and said that he would call me back after finishing his job (he said one hour). I gave him four hours and called him. He picked up the phone and we scheduled an appointment time but he said that he'd have to call back because his appointment book was in his car. He then said I could leave a message on his machine if that'd be easier with the information. Fine. I called back, left a message with all of the info. Come appointment time Thursday morning, no Al. I waited for 3 hours before calling him. No answer. I left a message. Now, almost two days later, he still hasn't returned my call. Very frustrating.

Poor work, Al. I will not recommend you if you cannot maintain business ethics.

We have used Al and Luis for many years for plumbing, electrical, and most recently to run high-speed internet cable to our freestanding garage. They are always reliable, extremely knowledgeable, and I swear they can fix or do ANYTHING. We once had a leak in our guest bathroom on Christmas Eve at 9pm. We called, and Al and Luis were there within half an hour. I would never call anyone else! They are in great demand and even when they are really busy they will make time for you if the situation is urgent. Highly, highly recommend.

I had a problem with my kitchen sink for about a week and I resorted to using my dishwasher but it started to over flow. I called Al after seeing his great reviews on yelp. He told me what the problem might be, gave me a estimate on cost, and came in less than a hour. He fixed the problem in no time and explained to me what the problem was and what to do to prevent it. I have used many plumbers to my dissatisfaction, but will be calling Al for all my handy man needs from now on.

I just bought my first condo and after having the vanity counter top replaced I needed a plumber to hook up my new sink and faucet. It had been 3 days without a sink and I needed it fixed ASAP. I literally called Al at 10pm on Monday night and he was at my house at 8am sharp the next morning. The job only took him 45 min and he did a great job.

He did not clean up after himself but it was a minor mess and I did not mind vacuuming it up.

As far as professionalism, efficiency and competitive prices Al is your man!! He really knows what he is doing!!

We LOVE Al and Luis! They did an absolutely incredible job on our apt. and they were here working all week and his prices are EXTREMELY reasonable. They are responsive, great to work with, show up when they say they will and do an excellent job when they arrive. Also, they can really do whatever you need-- painting, plumbing, electrical, whatever it may be. We honestly love them and would call them at the drop of the hat ANYTIME.

I've called Al before and he seemed nice, honest and responsible, but when I asked him to take a look at a leaky faucet, he quoted that it would take 6 hours and $450 to do the job. And he said he would have to ask the management to shut off the water for the other residents. I had a plumbing company come in and fix the job in 15 min. with parts worth $20. Would not recommend him again.

I called Al just yesterday after having several handymen flake on me. It is SO DIFFICULT to find someone good and reliable. I just rented my house to a couple. They were understandably unhappy since just days after they moved in, my laundry room was suddenly producing a terrible odor. There was also a bad smell that had infiltrated the adjoining office. My first handyman could not figure out what was going on despite inspecting the area and could only suggest using a fan to air out the room and poking holes in the wall. I called Al and he literally diagnosed the problem over the phone---he said my laundry drain needed to be cleaned out, and he believed there may be a pipe running into the office as well from the laundry room that was bringing the smell into the office. How did he figure this out over the phone?? Since the rains in LA started a couple of days ago, I also asked Al if he could clean out my rain gutters. He showed up the next day on time, cleaned out all of my rain gutters, cleaned the laundry room pipe, sealed off the pipe in the office and SAVED MY WALLS from unnecessary poking and prodding! While he was at the house, he also diagnosed a weather stripping issue, ran to the store and installed weather stripping on all of the doors. He honored his original quote for the gutters and laundry room, along with a reasonable fee for the weather stripping.
Best of all, my tenants LOVED Al, and are thrilled with the now un-smelly laundry room, clean rain gutters and doors newly outfitted with weatherstripping. I will definitely use Al again, and am so happy to have a reliable handyman to call when the need arises.

Called Al (Alvaro) based on mixed yelp reviews, but liked him over the phone and he was the least expensive in cost. I had him install a much needed portable 11,000 BTU A/C unit. He was most gracious and really fast although he did arrive two hours late. We were scheduled for a 1:00pm arrival and he didn't make it to our place until around 3:00. And I had to call him several times to get an ETA. Thank God his partner, Luis answered the phone. After establishing rapport, once he arrived, I'm quite certain he would never dozily arrive late for any work at our place again. I would use him again.

Al & his crew are the best!! I have used him for several jobs around my condo. Build a toddler bed, paint, put light fixture in, change lock etc He will go to store & get whatever he needs to complete the job & he is fast & very efficient. Excellent! I called Al on a saturday morning, he was at my house within an hour starting on the work. He installed a new water heater for me, helped advised me on the correct size, restraining straps, etc. He also did some carpentry to rebuild the waterlogged pedestal that it was standing on. I asked for something solid which didn't have to be aesthetically pleasing, and I got exactly what I asked for. Rates were extremely economical, and he and his team were extremely courteous and easy to talk to. Can't recommend them higher.

Al and Luis are a top notch team capable of handling almost anything. In the various times I've used them, they have delivered top notch work. Everything from plumbing to electrical. Tonight, I had a plumbing emergency. Al and Luis were working at the last job they had planned for the night. I called them at 7 pm. They showed up as soon as they were done with the other job, and came to my place to help me with my problem. I highly recommend them!

Had to call Al again last night. My bathroom sink had a slow water clog that Liquid Plumr could not cure. But here comes Al to my rescue again! I called and he was super busy on a big job but still managed to come by around 9:30 pm. Within 15 minutes he was in and out! He's such a PRO! Al is a real find. He was there on time while we were over an hour late getting to our house due to heavy traffic. We were lucky he was still there waiting for us. He did some painting and several small jobs around the house. His price was reasonable and his service was great. We paid an arm and a leg for a plumber to come fix a leaky faucet a month earlier. I wish we would've called Al then!

He's a good guy. We're going to use him again and highly recommend him.

I signed up for Yelp just so that I could write a review for Al.

I had a showerhead from the 1970's that rusted through and fell off of the wall. I thought about trying to sweat the pipe on myself but I had no idea what I was doing and felt ambivalent about potentially burning my house to the ground. I called Mr. Rooter and they charged me $65 just to come over (on the second appointment, no less, having stood me up the first time) and quote me an $800 repair job. You can buy a lot of beer with $800. So that was out.

In my hour of despair, I turned to Yelp. And Yelp sent me Al. He and his friend showed up with everything we needed (and even called the morning of to confirm), completely and perfectly fixed my shower, DID NOT set fire to my house as I surely would have, and were awesome, friendly and very knowledgeable guys.

Did I mention he charged me $125? Yes, for essentially 1/8 of what Mr. Rooter wanted to charge me (and not even that much more than what I foolishly paid just to get their estimate), Al did the job perfectly and was a great guy also.

There's no downside here. Unless you enjoy paying 5-10 times more than you need to for the subpar service and indifference of a stupid plumbing company, you owe it to yourself to call Al and save time, money and stress. His skills don't stop at plumbing, either: he can basically fix everything you own up to and including your computer.

Seriously. Call Al. He's that good.

This is actually my first Yelp review, but I was really pleased with the service after getting terrible service with Roto-Rooters that I had to write one.

I thought I could get trhough the night without having to get the plumber out and pay the hiked after hours fees (100$ to come out and then 50% hike on whatever the cost of the job is with Roto-Rooters). Unfortunately, I was wrong and my sink started flooding the entire kitchen.

Im surprised that I had the time to do a quick shop on yelp and call a couple places. After waiting for 20 minutes (the flooding had stopped) for Roto-Rooters to call me back to come out (after I told them it was an emergency! Shocking!) I called Al's. He was here in 40 minutes and was so friendly. He gave me a 150$ per drain quote over the phone and was super fast working, which was nice seeing as it was 1am. Since I had him here I thought I'd have him check a bathroom sink as well that wouldnt drain. I was hoping he wouldnt charge me again for the second and he didnt. He fixed it for free! I was so pleased and was back in bed in about 30 minutes. Would definitely call him again.

Al was great. He was at the apartment no more than 10 minutes after I called (obviously he was in the area). The toilet fix was exactly as he estimated (expensive in my book, but I'm not really hip to plumbing costs in general). But the toilet was fixed in less than 30 minutes and everything was back to normal. Would definitely recommend these guys!

Al is always booked for business because everyone wants his help... And for good reason. His service is second to none, and he's a true professional. I needed help with a difficult plumbing job, and Al completed the work in an efficient and meticulous manner. The next night I had a somewhat unrelated plumbing issue, and Al came back over late at night to ensure that everything was in working order. I can't say enough about this man, or the integrity of his service. I would call Al for any handyman needs.

He's good at fixing stuff like plumbing but don't ask him to do anything that would be cosmetic. I had him install some tiles in my bathroom and he did such a poor job that I had him remove them and hired someone else. The tiles were not aligned, some had half an inch gaps between them while others were touching with no gap. He's not about cleanliness or aesthetics. If you need something fixed he can do that job, just don't ask him to do anything more.

Boo for Al. Not sure why Yelpers love him so much. I called him up for an AM appointment to install a garage door. I bought almost everything at Home Depot the night before but did not feel comfortable installing by myself. He came 1 hour late for an appointment he estimated at 4 hours. He didn't have all the materials so he went to Home Depot. Okay, I thought, nothing wrong with that. He shows up an hour later. He got hungry and picked up lunch. So that leaves two hour to finish the project. You think a handyman would have a sense of urgency not just because he may have other projects but also because he would understand that I have other plans. Nope. He worked slowly. I peaked in at one point and noticed that where he mounted the machine and rails made the possibility of a working garage door not physically possible. When I pointed it out to him he acted like that was his plan. After 6 hours I had to leave. At this point the ceiling looked like swiss cheese. He told me he would clean things up if I would let him finish. I told him to come back at a certain time. He agreed but showed up two hours late. By midnight I had had enough and threw him out of my house. He was still tinkering and maybe I should've let him finish and clean up because now I have to find someone else to repair the drain pipe that he drilled into which now leaks all over the garage! Stupid Al wasted a whole day and caused more harm than handywork. I would've been better off taking a guy from the corner outside HomeDepot.

We've used Al's service for the past few years for plumbing, installing washer & dryer, put up shelving, installing a metal scissor attic ladder (which required reframing the attic opening to fit the new ladder), and installing a pet door. Very good trustworthy people. Great pricing. Good quality. I highly recommend them.

First - thanks all you yelp reviewers! I choose Al because of the great reviews so its with a little regret that I am giving him 3 stars instead of 5. The work he actually did WHEN he showed up, was awesome and very fairly priced. He even let me slide on the extra $10 he was charging that I didn't have on me. So at this point, I'm lovin Al! But then I call him a few days later to install a kitty door and repay the $10 bucks he let me slide on during his last visit . He says he'll be there atl, 11am which becomes noon and then 2pm, and then 3pm. On a Saturday; and I had to call him each time to make sure he was still coming. Long story short, he showed up at 3pm; I didn't hear the doorbell and he took off. I called him at 3:15 and was like whatha f...he was like -Oh you want me to come back? DUH -yes...he's then says ok.... I'll be there in 20 min which comes and goes by so I call him again wondering did he fall in a hole..and he then says oh no, I cant come until later - I have to go downtown to see my cousin WHAT?? Ok, so now Al and I have no relationship; doesn't return my calls and I've got a new handyman that I found from my contractor. $35 per hour and shows up on time. Morale of my story - if you catch Al on a good day and he shows up in a decent window of time; expect good work at a fair price. But if you dont want to sit around all day wondering when he's going to come - you might be better off using someone else!

Right, so I made a Yelp account just to write this review. I had an odor problem in my bathroom which i suspected was being caused by either rot inside the bathroom exhaust fan or something leaky with the toilet bowl (i live in a studio down in westwood). I was searching for a handyman within the LA area and chanced upon this webpage. I did see some poor reviews about Al's punctuality but in my opinion, it is a minor drawback. I called Al yesterday at about 7pm and left him a voice message. He returned my call in about fifteen minutes and scheduled an appointment with me the following morning between 10 and 11am (he also quoted me a price which was reasonable). At about 11.10am he did send me a text to apologize for being late, but that didn't bother me at all. He showed up at about 11.45am, took about 5 minutes to analyze the situation and immediately proceeded to remove the entire toiletbowl, revealing to me that the toilet seal (a wax-type disc that seals the bowl to the piping) was completely destroyed/rotting/eroded. He worked extremely fast and was done in 10 minutes.

For the next 15 minutes Al and I chatted about work and i got to know a little more about him. He's extremely hardworking, great sense of humor and is no nonsense/bullsh*t. He's very humble. Plus, his fees are affordable and are nowhere as ridiculous as some of the more privatized contractors. Zero complaints here.

got a quote from a plumber for $15,000 to repair what he said was a horrible plumbing problem...called Al and he repaired it for $275, including parts. it just took some imagination to fix things differently and search for the right parts needed...he was very kind, on time, did a great job, saved me almost $15K, and most of all was very honest. Honesty is priceless. would hire again in a second.

I dont think Al works as a handyman anymore - he picks up his cells, says he is busy and then doesn't call back. I've tried to give him repeat business at least 4 times, seems as if he doesn't want it. Which is too bad, he used to be great.

He's a flake! When I initially called him, he said he would call me back within the hour. He never did, so I called him the next day. We scheduled an appointment for the following weekend so he could come to see the job. I called him the day before he was to come just to confirm and he never called back. He did not show up for the job. He's a loser if he can't even keep his appointments.

I've been using Al (thanks Yelp) for all random household repairs. He is friendly, efficient, honest, punctual and reasonable. He works for himself and really cares about doing a good job. He always seems willing to go the extra mile to make you happy. Only complaint is lately he has become so popular that his schedule isn't as flexible as it used to be. Call early!

Al is very good at fixes and repairs. I will continue to call him when a problem at home comes up, and happily refer him. My only complaint is that he did some shelf installation and he didn't patch up some of his work. It's not visible unless you intentionally look under the shelf, so it's not a big deal. But all in all, he's reliable and can usually come the day-of.

Al repaired some damage to my popcorn ceiling and repainted part of my bedroom wall that had been damaged by water. After playing a bit of phone tag, Al showed up ON TIME and repaired my wall and ceiling as well as some odds and ends around the place. Luis and Al are friendly, courteous, and affordable. I will definitely use them in the future so long as they stay affordable!

So it's thanksgiving and all of a sudden my sink backs up, about an hour of trying everything i can think of and i give up. thank god for yelp, i am so glad i found al's listing. he was here in under an hour and charged a reasonable rate (especially for thanksgiving day). he did a thorough job and told me if anything went wrong or if i had any questions to call him to come back. everything was great, i just wished that he had asked before using my rubber gloves to help unclog the pipes, as i have ones i don't use for food that he could have used . . .

Al is a great guy. I think he is serious, honest and has competitive prices. Plus he is not creepy, which is good when you are a single lady leaving alone, lol. I called him a couple of times. The second time it was really last minute but he managed to come and help me even though it was after 7pm at night, and even though he was downtown LA at the time and i'm on the westside. It's great to know that you can count on him when you have an emergency. I would recommend him.

Al and Luis have been great! Friendly and honest service which is rare these days. When I had a main line backup, I called a dozen plumbers who couldn't make it over that day or were not willing to snake from my roof. Al came over that day and fixed the problem quickly and charged a lot less than other plumbers. I used Challenge Plumbing beforehand and had a terrible experience. Challenge took 2 hours and were completely dishonest. Al and Luis fixed the same problem in less than 30 minutes. I've used Al's Handyman service twice now and will continue to us them from now on. I just found out that a friend also uses their services and speaks highly of them. I like the fact that I can text Al and he responds with questions to narrow the problem before he arrives. I'm glad to have found them!

I used this company for a repair to some exterior stucco on my garage. They showed up on time and did a really nice job. Polite and friendly also. I used Al again to install some baseboards and was pleased with that work also. I plan to use them again for future projects.

Al answered the phone the first time I called and made time on a Sunday to solve a problem with my sprinker system. He was courteous, responsible, knowledgeable, a good communicator and charged a reasonable price. Then he solved another mystery plumbing problem that no one could resolve for a couple of years! I've dealt with many home services folks. He's tops.

Found Al on Yelp and all the great ratings hold true. He's prompt (was early), professional, respectful, and tells you what you need and what you don't. I had a sliding door that was stuck. He told me that the door was still in good condition and there was a wheel mechanism that needed to be replaced that may be hard to find. Then, he outlined the stores that he was going to check, told me to go about my day, and ended up finding it at the first store he and his partner went to. The door is now fixed and in great sliding condition. The price was really fair and I'd hire him for other jobs in a second. He also gave some advice about other things needed around my apt. It was really tough to find someone to work on small things and I'm glad that he was reviewed on Yelp.

I had a severly clogged kitchen sink. I called Al and he came that same day. He was polite and thorough and was more than eager to help me with a couple of quick fixes around the house. I've used plumbers and other handymen around LA. I will definately go back to Al with any needs. Best service at the best price I've seen.

Definitely ignore all the 1 star reviews on here (at least regarding my experience w/ Al). My experience with Al was top notch. We needed a VERY last minute and immediate fix before moving out of our apartment and Al was there to help us out. He knew exactly what to do and performed all fixes quickly and efficiently. Al is fantastic. He fixed everything from plumbing to doors to lighting. He arrived on time and did a great job at a reasonable price. He is very knowledgable and helped me out BIG TIME in a very difficult work environment. I can't recommend him more highly. Competent, low cost, and very kind!
