Affordable Plumbing Solutions was repeatedly recommended by my neighbors on the NextDoor website. After checking the comments on Yelp I decided to give them a call.

Our garbage disposal needed to be replaced and our RO water system was due for it's annual maintenance. Richard assured us he could deal with both issues and had an opening on a day that worked for us.

He noted that our disposal was a very high quality unit and suggested he might be able to fix it instead of replacing it. Upon inspection he determined something was jamming the device. He was able to extract a mangled picture hanger from it and when he turned it on it was operating as good as new. Apparently the painter who just completed painting our kitchen the day before had dropped it in the disposer when he was prepping the walls. That saved us from spending hundreds of dollars for a replacement. He made quick work of the RO maintenance replacing the filters and inspecting it for any possible issues.

We were fully satisfied with his excellent customer service skills and his technical knowledge. I will not hesitate to call him first for all our plumbing needs.

Richard was amazing. Professional job. He came and cleared a clocked sewer line from our front clean out to the street. He got the job done ( may I admit? ) where one plumber failed a few weeks before. He referred me to a person who repairs off-set pipes and gave me expert tips on what to expect. My wife and I are pleased and Richard will be a regular plumber from this day forward.

I browsed through many of the low ratings here and they all seem to be from people who didn't get enough time from him like he didn't seem to have time to listen or complaints that he didn't do additional work or provide additional parts or blamed him for failure of a replacement part.

I've had 2 excellent experiences with this company-- the first with a water heater replacement still going strong many years later with no issue. The second was a problem with a leaking upstairs shower that I thought was leaking inside the wall. He came out and was able to diagnose the problem which I felt I could solve myself. He didn't even charge for the visit and education. He's got my business for the next plumbing issue that's sure to pop up as my house nears 50 years old.

This was the 4th plumbing company I called after hours on a weekday regarding my garbage disposal not working and my sink flooding. Richard answered and told me that the next available appointment was 2 days away and I told him that's not going to work for me.

Rather than letting me hang up, he asked me some questions to troubleshoot the issue by phone. With his guidance I was able to restore power to the garbage disposal, manually rotate the garbage disposal to drain the water, and dislodge a chicken bone which was preventing the blades from rotating. I flipped the switch and everything was fully functional again! These guys seem very customer service focused and assisted me when they had nothing to gain from it. I'll be calling them again if any issues come up in the future.

I broke a jar and got some glass in my garbage disposal. Selecting them from what I saw on Yelp, I called Affordable Plumbing and they made an appointment with me the next day. The day of the appointment, they called and said they could actually come 2-1/2 hours earlier than the appointment. I thought that was good, but ...
Richard arrived, removed the glass from my disposal, and was done in 10 minutes. Charge: $150. Affordable? I think not!!!!!!

Wow, based on all the positive reviews I decided to give them a call. The person was rude and curt with me. He didn't seem to have time to listen to what I needed. He spent all of 15 seconds on the phone. A business needs to be willing to listen to its customers. If he doesn't listen on the phone to a new customer, how will we be able to trust the price and the work? First impressions are crucial! I'm sorry that at 7:30am you were already having a bad day, but I didn't deserve your rudeness.

Richard was awesome! Spoke to him Sunday night and said he could be over Monday evening. Even better when he showed up 2 hours earlier (of course I was able to have someone be home earlier than planned) and he was in and out in about an hour. He was able to diagnose my garbage disposal issue based on what I told him over the phone.

I have used Richard from Affordable Plumbing multiple times for drain issues at my house. He has always gone above and beyond with his service to ensure my issue was properly taken care of. My house has crazy plumbing and he has always found a way to take of the problem even when it seems like the problem is un-fixable. I originally found Affordable Plumbing Solutions with a Google search back in January 2018. I decided to act as my own contractor on my master bathroom remodel in order to save money. The contractor's bid was $28,000 with very low allowances for the fixtures and tile. I completed the job for $18,000 with VERY high end fixtures and tile. I did all the work except for installing the tile and some of the plumbing work. Affordable Plumbing Solutions did the complete copper pipe installation for our double shower head design and relocated our shower drain (crawling under our house, working with me to make sure it was located in the exact position I wanted). Richard, the owner and plumber, is very responsive, always on-time, and, if necessary, keeps in contact via text message to update his arrival time. I was completely satisfied with the quality of his work AND his price. He is LESS expensive than any plumber I have ever used. I called him back to relocate the water supply lines for our two sinks to allow our vanity to fit better. He was quick to respond, on time, and again very reasonable with his price. So, when we had a leak under our kitchen sink, who did I call, well of course, Richard's Affordable Plumbing Solutions. AGAIN, he was quick to respond, on-time, and very reasonable with his price. So, Richard is now MY GO TO PLUMBER. I'm currently having him help me with remodeling our vacation home. AGAIN, quick to respond, on-time (in FACT he came a day earlier when the original date turned out not to work for him). He replaced nine old sink valves that were leaking AND relocated our propane gas supply line to allow us to install a slide in range. My wife and I are COMPLETELY satisfied with Richard's professionalism, willingness to do what is needed, the quality of his work AND his demeanor and personality. This is the second time Rich has been to my home and this visit was to replace my water heater. He did an excellent job and walked me through the process. In addition, before he did the work, he provided few options as to what he would recommend and what brands I should think about. He would not recommend the cheap brands that you can buy at the store but a semi commercial brand so it would last longer. I recommended him to my friends and I got his contact through another friend that he did work for. Rich is very professional and knowledgeable in his field.

Richard was very close to perfection. He was my second quote for the copper repipe, he was the most affordable and he was very fast with his work. He gave me the quote of $6,500 and he even upgraded me to a 50 gal tank for free when he found out I was a military Veteran and willing to write a review on Yelp. It took about 2 weeks from the quote date until he started because he was on other projects, but he was upfront and precise with his timeline.

A bit overenthusiastic, he stayed until 9pm the first day of work and then he was done by 4pm the second day! He had one partner the first day and finished the job the second day by himself. He wasn't the most professional of my selection pool but he was the most charismatic and approachable. Richard and his Apprentice were extremely hard working the first day and I couldn't imagine Richard returning that early the next day, but he was there at 6:45 am just like the day prior.

He does not file permits for his work but I did not desire that additional hassle and cost. Richard also confirmed my suspicion of a drain issue under one of my bathrooms. He was so good with his work we decided to accept his $1,400 bid on a main drain line replace without seeking alternative bids.

I fully recommend Richard for his friendliness, fairness, and affordability.

Time is money but a quick explanation saying that is my best price would have been better. It is possible that I could have called him for other work.

I too found Affordable Plumbing Solutions on Craigslist, and was impressed not only by the layout, but also information provided regarding their business on their website. I was able to book my appointment for 4pm the same day. Richard was prompt, friendly and explained the situation with the leak in my toilet, answered all my questions regarding my pipes and why this and why that patiently and informatively, and was able to rebuild my toilet tank quickly.

I found him to be extremely honest, efficient and dependable. (And, as the name suggests, AFFORDABLE.) I will definitely be keeping their business card, and will call APS for any future repairs that I need done.

I have been searching for a plumber in San Jose for awhile, but was not happy with what I was coming across. Luckily, with the help of Yelp, I stumbled upon Affordable Plumbing Solutions.

We had a few leaky pipes connected to our water softener and needed a fix. Called up APS and Christina got me setup quickly with an initial appointment. Richard came by our house, explained everything that needed to be done, and gave us a fair estimate. Called back the next day to go ahead with the work and Christina got us all setup.

Richard showed up on time and got started immediately. We were very impressed with his workmanship and overall quality. The piping rework he completed looked simply beautiful. His years of experience easily showed.

Richard is awesome! I called him yesterday at 11:30am for an estimate and he was at my condo at 3:40pm. I was worried because I needed the repair done before my new tenants moved in at 6pm that evening and I didn't want to pay too much for the repair.

He gave me a great estimate for a leaky dishwasher, so I told him to fix it. He's an honest and hard working contractor, which are rare these days. I highly recommend him and will definitely use him next time.

We love Richard!
We called him during the first week of August to come look at some repairs that needed to be done on a short sale we were buying. He came out to give us a quote and explained why some things were major problems, why some weren't, some quick fixes we could make instead of major repairs to save money, and was really great. He showed up early, was quick, wrote down his quote for individual items, and then left for another job. I got a quote from another company as well just to compare. This company sent out two guys in suit and ties, they walked around with my list talking to each other, never spoke to me except to leave me with their business card. They emailed my agent their quote, which was not broken down at all by individual items. Their quote was for about $5k. Richard's was less than 2.

We closed on the house, called Richard and he came out the following day. He worked quickly, took maybe 3 hours and finished all of the repairs, including fixing a problem with the sprinklers we had noticed! He was friendly, personable, worked quietly on his own, pulled us aside to mention a few things here or there, and was great.

The following week, alas ! Our dishwasher started leaking. We called him in the afternoon, and he was here at 7am the following morning. He took it apart, found the problem, explained it to us (rats had chewed through some of the parts, Ugh! We'd have to call out a technician from the company to replace them) and didn't charge us a dime. We've been really happy with his service!

One note - he always sounds out of breath on the phone, and after having him here, we know it's because he's always hard at work! He literally runs away from what he's doing and outside (or to a quieter area) to take the call, so he really is often out of breath!)

We couldn't be happier with our experience with Richard and definitely recommend him to anyone we know with a plumbing problem!

I called Richard on a Tuesday to take care of a shower with a drippy faucet, and we scheduled a visit on Wednesday. So, Wednesday morning, I take a shower, and when I try to turn off the water, it won't shut off. The drip drip drip has now become a MAJOR flow!

After shutting off the water main, I called Richard to see if he could come earlier. Fortunately, he was in the vicinity, so he stopped by maybe 20 minutes later (this was around 8:00 or 8:30 am)

He was able to fix the problem quickly, though he didn't have a replacement handle available. While I had him there, I asked him to take a look at our garbage disposal. He was able to give me a good price on a replacement and came back at our originally scheduled time (3:00 pm) to install it and to put a new handle on the shower control.

I found Richard to be very professional and friendly, and will definitely keep him in mind for future repair work.

I called with a severely clogged sink from thanksgiving potato peelings and Richard came the same day. He not only fixed my clog but fixed the poor piping job the previous owners had done that were not up to code and thus were the constant source of poor drainage. I'm a bit OCD and I have a pretty good knowledge of all phases of construction. So when I meet someone in the construction industry I can tell pretty quick if they seem to know what they're doing. After I see their work I know for sure if they do.

Richard & a helper came out to move some water and sewer lines for a bath/laundry remodel I was doing. This is an older home so the sewer is cast iron and the water is copper. They were quick, clean, and everything passed inspection on the first try.

They did the little extras that most contractors don't - making sure the water lines were fastened down properly to eliminate water hammer noises, running lines so that later drywall work wouldn't accidentally run a screw into a line, etc.

They also replaced the flange for the toilet. The original was no longer usable. The drain was cast iron in concrete. This could have cost big $$$ to fix. Richard removed the old and soldered a new flange on and it looks like new. It was refreshing to see an artist at work.

If you want to hire someone that knows what they're doing and does it right, these are the guys for you.

I'm still a fan of APS. We have a Flushmate (self-contained) system in our toilet. So after working for about a week, it's (excuse the pun) crapped out again! (not flushing) However, Richard had already told me the work wouldn't be under warranty, and informed me that those types of toilets are a LOT of trouble (which I knew) and quoted me a price to replace the toilet for a new one (parts & labor). However, do we spend the $ on a toilet that will continue to fail, and have to keep calling someone to fix, or just install a new one? $ is *TIGHT* so we'll probably not use it until it can be replaced. (sigh) However, I'm still a fan and will call APS when we can.

P.S. DON'T buy a Flushmate! or any other self contained system. You don't need it! they're great for commercial use (restaurants, bars, stadiums) but if you need a powerful system (which is very costly) I would recommend you see a urologist first.

Affordable Plumbing was definitely that - very affordable (37% less than my other quote). It was a small job that he treated like a large one - responded promptly, provided an immediate estimate and worked around the schedule of other contractors on site. The plumbing was installed professionally and everything was clean upon completion.

I called Affordable Plumbing after reading other Yelp reviews and was very pleased. I had a pretty major leak (water poured through my dining room ceiling when upstairs toilet was flushed) and I was terrified at how expensive something like that would be. Not to mention that my husband was out of the country all week, and was also nervous about getting ripped off due to my lack of plumbing knowledge (and let's face it- being a woman).

I called 2 places to get estimates, and Richard came in way under the other plumber (Crown Plumbing- also had decent yelp reviews). Richard was very prompt, and arrived exactly when he promised. He wasn't able to give me a firm price b/c there were some unknowns in the equation, but did give me a range. He completed the job in about 4 hours and charged me the low end of the estimate. I highly recommend using him and would absolutely call him again (although I hope I don't have to!)

I found Richard using Yelp! for residential service and he did a great job on my shut off value in my bathroom. He came on time and was very professional and knowledgeable. The best part is he is very personalble and friendly and will offer advice of other plumbing issues at no cost. Affordable? YES. I would use him again for future issues I have at home.
His wife , Christina, schedules his appointments and she is also nice and professional. She always calls you back. I even like the fact that they called me 20 minutes prior to the appointment versus waiting one hour at home. Overall, a pleasant experience all the way.

SO I used Affordable plumbing for the second time tonight and I think that their service is fabulous!! Christina took my call both times and scheduled me with an appointment either same or next day. She was super friendly and even called when Richard had a cancellation to see if earlier worked for me!

Richard was prompt and even called to let me know where he was. The first time I used them, he was running late and called me to let me know even though he was only 5 minutes later than the time quoted! Richard explained to me what was going on with my leaky pipe/sink/washer and fixed it quickly! Even 3 months later when I had another issue, he remembered us and fixed the problem.

Richard is nice, friendly and I couldn't ask for better service! The price was very reasonable and I totally recommend him and Affordable plumbing!!

These guys really live up to their name. After our piping clogged up (think sewage coming up from the tub drain), another plumber with a not-so-great Yelp reputation wanted to replace a section of the piping and the sewer connection along with some pricey hydro-scrubbing. Total estimate: $2,600.

After calling APS for a second estimate (and not revealing the first price quote), Richard was shocked that the first company had recommended so much work -- he said the problem could be fixed with a $150 cleaning.

Richard was prompt, courteous and fast. I highly recommend the company.

We needed a plumber to install a water line to our refrigerator, and chose APS after researching on Yelp. Scheduling an appointment for the no-charge estimate was quick and easy.

The estimate was very reasonable and Richard's explanation of the options available was easy to understand. High-quality parts were used, and the installation was very neat, clean, and maintainable.

I had Richard come out and put a new expansion tank on my water heater in may 2015. We'll my copper pipe on the side of the water heater started leaking. I left messages for him, but no call back. I called Quality Plus Plumbing, they came out and told me the expansion tank was broken and whoever put it in, did not put in a shut off valve!!! I paid Affordable Plumbing $325 for this part & labor. The part is $40. I can't believe a license plumber would not know how to put in a simple part. I am very disappointed and would not recommend Affordable Plumbing, and it's not AFFORDABLE!!!!! Also charged me $600 for a recirculation pump....

From day one when I first called Richard he was very responsive to my need to stop a shower faucet leak that had caused mold in the carpet in the adjacent room. He analyzed what was needed and, rather than do an expensive retrofit because the faucet part was discontinued, he engaged his plumbing supply contacts to search for the part. He found it in Canada & had it shipped here. Unfortunately, the part was different from the original, but that didn't deter him. He used an O-ring off the new part to fix the diverter valve and stop the leak! Even though he could have elected to tell me my only option was to retrofit another current model faucet system into my shower, at a cost of over $700, he went the extra yard to search for that spare part & ended up fixing the leak for a fraction of that cost. Now THAT'S service beyond the call of duty as far as I'm concerned!
He is one of those rare persons that you find in the service business that actually cares about doing a quality job at a very fair price and will not quit until the jobs done right.
P.S. He's a fellow cyclist which gained him some extra points :-)

My wife & I opted for replacement (retrofit) of all the old shower hardware since it failed once & caused the mold situation. Richard bought high quality Moen shower fixtures to install, removed all the old stuff, & installed the new within a few hours. This involved agile cutting of our tile, welding of new connections, and installation of beautiful new, non-leaking, fixtures. It's a great feeling to be leak free and have brand new hardware.
It was a pleasure doing business with Richard, a very personable guy with a working confidence that can only come from years in the profession.

called on sunday about a kitchen sink needing to be unclogged. Richard gave me a time to come on monday at 11:00am. Its now 12:00pm and i have not heard from him and i have left him 2 voice mails. No return calls back and had taken the day off from work to be here at home. And Nothing. Not Reliable at all and i even called him based on is reviews here.

I had a seemingly simple bathtub faucet leak but recalled in years past, this job was a little more difficult than I was comfortable doing given my skill-set. If I made a mistake, I would be without water throughout the house for an unknown period. After reading Yelp reviews, making a few phone calls, and trying to get someone to call back (this leak was not critical, just persistent and I wanted to get it fixed while my time permitted), Richard called back and discussed my problem. He had me text a photo of the hardware to him, identified the hardware manufacturer and verified he had the necessary parts. We scheduled an appointment for that evening. He called a couple hours prior to the scheduled appointment saying he could come earlier -- which was fine with me. 20 minutes later he was at my house and completed the job satisfactory within 90 minutes. While working, he explained what he was doing and if his fix didn't stop the leak he discussed other potential (more complex and costly) solutions. In the end, he stopped the leak and it has been fine since. Cost for the time and parts seemed reasonable. I was happy to have the job done.

I routinely use Craigslist to find licensed contractors, and this is where I found Richard.

Before Richard, I used another plumber that I found on craigslist (Ready Rooter) and he was absolutely horrible, overcharges, and did not stand behind his work when the problem reoccurred.

Initially called Richard for residential service and did a great job. After that, I have used him for commercial services, and he did an equally great job. He arrives on time, and is very courteous, and will back up his work, and come back if the same problem happens again.

His wife usually books his appointments for him, and she is very sweet over the phone. All in all, a pleasant experience all the way.

I don't know why people are raving about Affordable Plumbing because we got a really bad service. Richard was stressed out and impatient, didn't bother asking the right questions to help plan the job (he's supposedly the professional) and then was rude with my husband when we asked him to come fix the valves he had left leaking and make a change--time which we paid him for. He was always in a hurry. We were so disatisfied, we didn't even ask him to finish the work--we hired someone else. We can't recommend him for remodeling jobs, maybe he can help if you have a small problem to fix.

so I had him come give me an estimate to run a dedicated gas line. we ran through the plan of attack and we agreed to everything. I told him I pulled a permit and he gave me a ballpark price and recommended to get other bids.

a few days go by and I call him back with an offer and he agrees and we set a start date.

the start day comes and we run through it again, I reiterate that I pulled a permit and he gets angry any says you can't pull this shit on people complaining that he has to do a pressure test and this and that. accusing me of not mentioning a permit at our initial meeting. um, huh? real professional right? he hops in his van so fast, as of he had diarrhea continuing to curse down the street.

But I mean why would I NOT pull a permit, it's a GAS line!

i'm so glad he's on yelp so that true incidents like this can be documented for you and me, honest paying consumers.

bottom line: Richard very abrasive, rude, anxious (in a rush) and intimidating verbally/physically and will act like he doesn't need your business. work is under his terms or he's not scared to walk away. so would you hire someone like that?

he'll do work without pulling permits. so that means his work doesn't have to be up to code. sooo it's your house, work should be done properly and up to code (for safety and resale value).

his prices may be affordable but at what cost? quality? safety? no thanks.

i really hope he doesn't come beat me up.

Original Post - 1 Star: I have left them a message via phone (a month ago) and email (a week ago). No one at this place will return my messages.

Update 2/15/11 -
I find it intriguing that the business is now trying to contact me after my 1 star review of their service (I gave them two more stars since they are trying to help me now). They claim they didn't get my email or voice messages. Both? Really! I called the number on their website 408.972.5325 and left a message. I know I got the right number because the answering machine indicated so. I left a message indicating I needed help with tightening the loose faucet heads in my bathrooms. I didn't hear from them for a few weeks so I decided to send an email to them at service@affordableplumbi…. I still have the email in my sent mailbox. I honestly think that I didn't hear from them because the service I requested seemed like too small of a job. Another plumber I contacted just kept pushing me off to the side once he heard what service I needed. Finally, Adam at San Jose Plumbing came to fix the faucets - saying no job is ever a small job.

I could be wrong. Through the crazy phone and email services, they really might have not received either of my messages. I can see that many other reviewers gave raving reviews of this Company. So, don't let my review deter you from calling them up. Just be aware they may not get your voice messages or emails - so try multiple times.

Okay, so this is just the beginning of my review. I will add to it as time goes on. Found Affordable Plumbing on Craigslist, and decided to see if there were any reviews on Yelp. Since all the reviews were fantastic, I decided to give them a call. Didn't think that a company answers at 9:00pm on a week night! As stated in the earlier reviews, Christina answered the phone. She was very friendly. She let me know that they don't charge by hour, but by service. Since this if the first time I needed a plumber, I wasn't sure of what to even ask. She let me know that just to send the plumber out it was FREE!! NICE! So, the plumber would take a look at what we needed, then give us an estimate. I was quite surprised when I was told they could send someone out TOMORROW!! Richard, will be arriving at our house between 11 and 12. That is about all for now. Until tomorrow...

I've yet to be disappointed when doing business with anyone who has 5 stars on Yelp, and this is no exception. I've needed some work done in my kitchen for some time. Nothing major, but I just had a feeling I'd end up paying too much and getting shoddy service. I was wrong!

I finally got around to doing some research and I gave Affordable Plumbing a call. They gave me an appointment. Richard arrived promptly, he was able to quickly identify the problem, and gave me an estimate for the work that I thought was very fair and reasonable (he doesn't charge to come and give an estimate either, which is a definite bonus in my mind!). I thought he'd have to come back another day with the parts to actually do the work, but he had everything with him and was able to complete the job on the spot, and it only took about an hour. I wish I'd called a long time ago! I hope I don't need a plumber any time soon again, but if I do I will definitely call Affordable again! Thanks for a great experience!

I called Affordable Plumbing at 4 p.m. on a Friday afternoon - they were here within the hour! My teenage kids had fully clogged their shower/tub drain, in fact my daughter had lodged a toothpaste cap in the drain! Richard was able to get us up and running (and draining ;-) ) in no time.... he did have to crawl under the house (not a fun job) so I thought I was looking at a hefty tab - but felt price was extremely reasonable. We used Richard to fix a leaky shower in an old condo. The parts were not available from the usual places but he found them anyway (from one of his many vendors) and fixed the shower quickly, cleanly and at a good price. Now, years later, I need to have the same thing done to the other bathroom. Richard remembered the last job, ordered the parts and made the fix. The leak came back but, so did Richard. Last minute, he is at our condo, re-seated the valve which now works like a champ. He is always on time, has a ton of tools, has great stories, knows his plumbing and is truly at a great price. One huge + for Richard, he backs up his work with Satisfaction Guaranteed.

He speaks kindly of his wife, kids and dog. Who could ask for more in a plumber!

Hard water ate through a lot of plumbing in my home, so Richard has been here many times. Over the years, he's replaced a water heater, three toilets, at least one faucet, and all of the shut-off valves throughout the house. And I've never had a problem with his work. Whenever I've called, he's scheduled an appointment quickly and showed up on time. He explains the problems and outlines the potential solutions clearly. He also uses Square, so credit card payments are fast and secure. Highly recommend.

If you're looking for a knowledgable, professional, prompt, VERY AFFORDABLE, honest plumber, look no further! I'm new to the area and had a plumbing emergency, after many unsuccessful calls to find a plumber who wouldn't charge me an arm and a leg to help me in my desperate time of need, I came across Richard from Affordable Plumbing Solutions.

Richard was awesome and I would highly recommend him to friends. He communicates what he needs to do well and his experience shines through.

At first, I just wanted the master bedroom toilet fixed but when he arrived, mentioned that I thought we had a leak with another bathroom. He took a look at it and gave me a quote for a little more to replace the valve cover. He ended up needing to remove & replace all of the fixtures on the tank and the completely degraded cushion/seat between the tank and the bowl. He even had to saw off the bolts and main drain pipe. Even though the job for the toilet was harder than he originally estimated, he didn't charge me more than he quoted in total.

He then replaced the fixture in the master bedroom and was willing to use the one that we had bought but never got around to replacing ourselves.

He also helped me find the main water valve for the house and confirmed that the valves to both toilets were in good working order.

All in all, very satisfied and will definitely use him again!

I searched a plumbling services nearby my house and found Affordable Plumbing Solutions on Yelp. I had a water leak on one of the toilets. I made an appointment and Richard came ontime few days later since there was no open slot for the next day appointment. But that is fine for me. Within half and hour later he replaced two parts and charged me $200 minus $50 since I am his first time customer. I am not sure if $150 is too much. But anyway, he did a great job and very professional.

This is my first yelp review after my second time using them.

My home had a stoppage in bathroom and toilet - bad smell water would back up out of tub and toilet when we flush, take shower, run the washers etc... We had a Home Protection Plan so default is to call them first. The vendor finally came after a couple days due to Christmas, He wandered for over half an hour and cannot clear it up. He claimed it's out of his snake's range (110 feet) and even with a longer snake it won't help. He recommended us a $800-1000 project to open up another clean out which we think is outragious. Since this project won't be coverred by our Plan, we called Richard right away because he did a great job last time fixing our toilet. He came in within 2 hours and cleared it up in 10 minutes. He used a 125 feet snake but had touched the stoppage at around 75 feet. Of course he went all the way to 125 feet to make sure it all cleared up. Compared with a $800-1000 project, we paid $125, exactly the same as he estimated over the phone, and it is worth of every penny.

I'm older and not normally a review-writer but this experience was exceptional!

It's a Friday night in summer, grandchidren are visiting, there are 13 people in the house and water is discivered coming from the wall behind the kitchen sink. This is a problem that must be resolved and the first plumbing company I spoke with said I had to wash all the dishes in the bathroom sink (remember ... 13 people!) until Monday. That is so not going to work! Other companies didn't retun my call (and some still haven't). I turned to my online neighborhood website, asked for recommendations and Affordable Plumbing was mentioned three times. Kerry Harris, a plumber working for Affordable Plumbing was recommended by name twice. Called his number and left a message - he returned my call within 15 minutes and made arrangements to come over right then! On a Friday night! He came over, assessed the problem (a suspected leaking drain line from the kitchen sink) and scheduled to come the next morning to open up the wall and, hopefully fix it.

Kerry came over on time Saturday morning, cut through my stucco from outside (easiest access to the pipe) found the problem (a cracked drain pipe), repaired it and closed up the hole with a stuuco patch all in under three hours. He said he would come back later when the patch was dry to put on the stucco top coat. Kerry was very efficient, professional and knowledgable throughout his time here. He worked hard and he worked fast. And - he was kind! Maybe not the first quality you look for in a plumber, but when someone has to come out and see the places in your home no one else EVER sees, that are embarrassing, it is appreciated. Kerry was ably assisted in his work by his nephew, which I liked seeing. As a mother of four boys myself (all adults now) I value someone who takes the time to train the next generation how to work.

True to the name of the company, the bill was VERY affordable! After everything was cleaned up Kerry then cleaned out my drain (I didn't know that needed to be done!) I just can't get over how concerned I was last night when the leak was discovered on the start of a weekend and now, less than 24 hours later, it is completely resolved at a price I could manage! Just wow.

I most highly recommend Kerry Harris at Affordable Plumbing!

I had a leaking saddle valve (Icemaker tap) the day before Christmas. I frantically called all of the paces on yelp. Most of them said they'd call back (they didn't) and everyone else was booked. I was about to take my chances with a ripoff 24 hour plumber when I got Richard. He said he wasn't available but walked me through some steps to stop the leaking myself.

He made no money on this deal, but the honesty, promptness, and genuine care for even potential future customers has made me a customer. I will be hiring him for the permanent fix, and he has already laid out 3 or 4 options with various cost/benefit points rather than just pushing me into an expensive solution like some plumbers might.

I will update this review once he does the final work, but it is refreshing to have a plumber that cares about his work and customer relations.

I called Richard regarding a problem with yellowish colored water coming out of my new bathtub diverter. He spent a significant amount of time with me on the phone to discuss the issue. He was able to come out the same day and fixed the problem by replacing a galvanized bushing that was connected to copper which was causing rush. He also fixed my toilet that didn't have a strong flush. He worked quickly, and did a great job explaining everything to me. I was very pleased with his service, and highly recommend him!!

I used Richard once before off Yelp and was most impressed. Today I was going to do Thankgiving dinner and went out to my barn to feed the horses...broken pipe meant we had to shut off the water to the whole place. I washed my yams in the swimming pool. Called Richard...he soon called back, was in the middle of a big job but had a referral all set up for me. He had made sure the guy was available before he called me back. His referral was great too, very knowledgeable and reasonably priced...great work all around! Can't say enough good things about good service when it counts!

I needed to add a gas line to power my gas dryer. When I called the first time for a quote, Richard answered pretty much right away. Made an appt for the next day. He showed up on time at the agreed upon time (actually a few minutes early). I showed him what I needed to be done, and he fully explained what he needed to do. Gave me his written quote and I told him that I would call him back. Absolutely no sales pressure from him, which I always appreciate.

Called him back 2 weeks later to do the job. Made the appt, and he again showed up on time. He did what I had asked and also fixed a problem that he did not see before. Even with the extra work that he did not anticipate, he did everything for the orginally quoted price.

Honest, clean, knowledgeable, and respectable. I highly recommend Afforable Plumbing Solutions.

Richard was amazing. He came out and assessed the bathroom odor. Said that it was not sewage, but a dead animal probably in the wall. He did not charge me to come out. I then hired somebody (who did charge a $75 assessment fee) and he took care of the job. A couple of weeks after Richard came to my home, he called me. He said that he had been wondering what happened. What kind of workers do that? Especially someone who didn't even get a paid job. The only reason I am not giving him 5 stars is because although I know he provides excellent customer service, I really have not had him do any work, but with the quality of his customer service, I'm pretty sure his work is pretty good. I would definitely hire him in the future. Thank you Richard!

Amazing! As honest as you can get!
He just came over and looked at our leaking toilet and faucet.

Problem - Delta faucet leaks.
His advice - call the manufacturer because there's a lifetime warranty. He could fix at $100, recommended that I do it myself with free warranty parts.

Problem - toilet drain seal broken.
His advice - he looked at it, ran some tests, and told us that there was no leak. There was discoloration around the toilet, but no leak. he proved it with a piece of toilet paper. He put it UNDER the toilet base and showed that there was no water there.

He left - advice given, no pay.

Found Richard on Yelp! as I find all my contractors now, and he was a definite saviour. He was able to make an appointment for a quote the next day after my initial call. He called me 20 minutes before arriving at my house, so I could leave work and meet him there, rather than waiting for a 2 or 4 hour window like some plumbers schedule. When he got there, he gave me a run down on all the items I wanted to go over in our (very old) new house. He told me about problem areas I wasn't aware of, but also put my mind at ease about stuff I was concerned about that I need not be. He was extremely knowledgeable and gave me a good timeline for things, such as I would replace that in the next year or this should be replaced right away or else this is what will happen and was always fair about his estimates. He even showed me why stuff needed to be replaced rather than just telling me. I decided to get the most important stuff fixed right away (leaky sink, clogged drains, and disposal replacement) and he came out and took care of that within a day of me scheduling. I just called him to schedule more work that he originally quoted us (and I hoped we may have time to do ourselves, but we don't) which is to install our washer and dryer and set up a vent system since there is none for the dryer yet in the garage. I finally found a plumbing service I can believe in. Affordable plumbing is honest, competent and reliable. Richard was able to solve a clogging problem by reworking poorly placed pipes and charged me less than other plumbers have charged just for snaking the lines. after haveing 2 diffrent plumbing companys give me quotes.i had richard come to my house and do a sewer line replacement for me.
he ran a camera down my serer line and showed me the roots and breaks in my line. then explained to me what he was going to do because i know nothing of this sort of work. his work was clean promt and 20% cheaper than the next closest bid. i was so happy with his work i would suggest him to any one asking for a plumbing contractor.

This gentleman came to my house today(on behalf of my landlord) I was cleaning my shower and the water turn on handle came off in my hand... He fixed our issue and was out in about ten minutes. Thank APS

I am a property manager for many units all over Santa Clara County (ranging from apartments to single family homes) Richard has been honest and gets the job done in a timely manner. If the amount is to go over the original estimate he calls us for approval. I haven't had any problems with Richard from Affordable Plumbing Solutions and I continue to use him for our plumbing needs.

Excellent customer treatment and amazing kindness. My washer pipes were leaking but I mistakenly assigned the source of the leakage to the sink so I called Richard. Never used his services before. He came same day, and quickly diagnosed the problem, AND on top of that, didn't charge a thing!!! I couldn't believe it but I know for sure that I will be using his services again.

I needed a plumber I could trust so logged on to Yelp. After reading several reviews, I choose Richard of Affordable Plumbing Solutions. I am so glad I did. He was right on time and when he found that the problem couldn't be fixed, he got on-line, called the manufacturer and ended up getting me a new sprayer under warrenty. I was so impressed, that I then hired him to replace 3 faucets, 1 stool and a hot water heater. He did a very professional job. I am so happy that I choose Richard. I found that he was very honest and fair.

I had a water pressure issues in my kitchen sink and wanted to have someone drop by to take a look. I found Affordable Plumbing on Yelp and was very impressed with the service. Richard was quick, knew exactly what he was doing, and super professional! He seemed like a very honest guy who really knows what's he's doing. Most other places I've dealt with have tried to overcharge and ask me to replace things that I didn't think needed replacing. I'm happy I found a reliable, honest, great plumber. I plan on having him come back to help with the my other plumbing issues.

I can't say enough good things about the service and response time. My son had called and described the problem to Richard (a plugged toilet) and Richard said he could come the next evening, and that it would be a flat $125 if he could snake it clear (which we'd already tried several times) or $250 if he had to disassemble and reassemble the toilet. He was good to his word, even arriving a little early, and explained everything as he was doing it. He did end up having to remove the toilet to dislodge the clog ( a flashlight had been dropped into the toilet!), but he was true to his quote of $250 and was happy to take my check (a lot of others required cash). He also cleaned up after himself and gave me some good advice about maintaining the toilet in good condition. You couldn't do better than to call Affordable Plumbing Solutions!

Richard was on time. He was able to diagnose the leak problem in the garage ceiling right away. It was shoddy installation of a new washer that was installed a couple of days ago. He also took care of caulking of the bath tub and fixtures. He was professional and his price was very reasonable.

Richard ROCKS! I called him for an estimate on Monday, late afternoon. He apologized for not being able to come until the next day, and then he fixed both of my plumbing problems that night for such a great price. I have called Richard two times now and he is extremely sincere and honest. When I called him this Sunday about a problem under the kitchen sink, he promised to come at 7pm after his busy day on Monday. He did arrive right on time and took care of the issue. The water pressure in my townhouse had steadily been decreasing. This morning, the water pressure in the shower was hardly more than a trickle. I was having huge anxiety over a potentially horrendous bill and major repairs. I Called APC this evening, expecting an answering machine but got Richard right away. He had just finished up another job and said he could come right over. He arrived promptly, went right to work and discovered a minor and easily remedied problem. He was polite, explained it clearly and left the area neat and clean. The bill was very reasonable. I am looking forward to a great shower in the morning. I will definitely call APC gain for any plumbing needs.
