Take a bunch of good photos of what you're working on so they'll understand what you're trying to accomplish.

After reading this review, go immediately to your hot water heater, drain it and change the anode. It's on youtube. Or else - you'll get to learn all about installing a new water heater - and they're freakin' expensive these days.

These guys were great. When it came to helping me find the parts I needed they came through. I needed a brass pipe and I showed them some pictures of a Keurig coffee machine and the 1/4 inch pipe that needed. They ran to the back and grabbed me tubing and the connecting piece that I needed.

Awesome mom and pop store. Peter and Angela are awesome, friendly and they're very knowledgeable. We go to them first to buy everything plumbing before going to the big box store.

Angela is so helpful and kind. I stopped in for a sink part and even though I couldn't find what I needed, she spent the time to help me troubleshoot. She even recommended a great service provider, James & James Plumbing, who was the perfect fit for the job. I trust this business and appreciate their customer centric approach and expertise.

Thank you!   Great team and availability of parts for a broken shower mixer cartridge.  I checked online and no luck.  Your store had the Grohe part and even a generic one.  

Looks like I found a new supply place for plumbing!!!

Needed a cartridge for an American Standard shower faucet. Called three plumbing supply places with no luck. A-1 came through. Very helpful, friendly staff. Everyone wore a mask.

Our sink and shower faucets were broken so we went to three hardware stores to ask if they had the part. A1 plumbing supply went above and beyond, out of all three hardware stores and tried to help us find the a similar part. Ultimately, they didn't have the part but really appreciate how the manager went above and beyond!

Peter and Uriah are GREAT. Plumbing company I work for has a account here so we get all of our stuff from A1. Customer service is exceptional and they always have the plumbing parts we need, and if they don't they always can get. Thank you Angela, Peter, and Uriah.

The customer service here is non-existent and they flat out stole from us. We had to special order a delta shower fixture that we massively over-paid for to begin with. We did not get our entire order and had to return to pick it up. My wife had a baby and life got in the way, so probably a little too much time had passed before she returned to pick up our items.

Come to find out that this place recently changed hands and is under new ownership. The previous owners were working with hand written receipts, arcane inventory control, and probably creative accounting practices.

The sales clerk looked my wife in the face and flat out LIED to her saying that the item had been picked already up by our contractor.  WTF! Really, how does something like this even happen..And worse how do you look yourself in the mirror everyday knowing that you steal from hard working local families. Hopefully karma will come around bite these shysters: people will simply buy their their stuff online cheaper and the IRS will come down on them like a bag of bricks.

I am clueless when it comes to general repair matters. Despite this, A1 was able to decipher what I needed via This thing isn't going into this other thing and I need them to, bc water. That alone is impressive, but the fact that they made it happen for less than $5, earns a 6th star in my book.

I walked in with a faucet-thingy and a plastic tube after a hardware store was unable to help. These guys custom cut a part in the store for me, and walked me through exactly how it worked. I now know that the faucet-thingy was actually an Aerator, and that the plastic tube has male thread.

When the valve in my shower broke and would no longer close, A1 not only had the obscure part in stock, they also helped me open some stuck screws to properly disassemble the parts while providing a lecture which faucet company was acquired by whom, who provides which parts. And all this without any attitude towards a semi-clueless intellectual with a foreign accent who obviously was not part of their crowd.

Every time I need something, these guys deliver. Short notice, heavy specifications, it doesn't matter. They're professional and knowledgeable.

These guys are fantastic. I went in based on the other glowing reviews on Yelp, and was blown away by how wonderful they were.

I had a loose idea for a galvanized pipe clothes rack, and the napkin math to support it. With little more than this idea and an hour before closing on a Friday, I wandered into A-1. They took one look at my sketch, and said Oh yeah, we can help you with that. And like that, they were off - one to start cutting custom length and threaded pipes, the other to walk me through the process.

About an hour later, 6 minutes before closing, it was done. Not just getting all the pieces, mind you, but the entire rack was built. And a good thing too, we encountered a few engineering problems my napkin didn't accommodate. José and Uriah, you guys saved my butt, and made this project fantastic.

I went in to get parts and maybe a little advise. They not only helped with that, but assisted in making the project a reality. Above and beyond expectations. I'll be back here for literally any plumbing situation.

I stopped in to get a shower head and some coupling pieces the other day and they took great care of me.  They helped me unscrew a couple of pieces that had become sealed together, saving me from having to re-buy some parts (even though they would have made more money if they weren't able to get them unstuck...).  Everyone who worked there was super friendly and they gave me a good deal on one of their display shower heads since they were out of stock for that particular model.  Long story short, I was psyched to find this place and will definitely keep it mind down the road.

Great find in the city! The entire staff is really helpful my plumbing needs. Their parts selection has a solution for every situation. And their prices are very good!  Much better then Home Depot in service and price.

From the perspective of a DIY-er that has gutted his bathroom and in the process of redoing the plumbing, this is the must-stop shop. Whereas big-box shops have limited selection of lower-quality, higher priced good, here you can find endless rows of fittings amd multiple options for the perfect custom plumbing solution. What really pushed this shop over the top is its competitive pricing; I was looking for a specific Toto toilet to fit my bathroom, and since it's highly recommended to buy toilets locally (who knows what can happen during shipment) A1 was able to give me a very competitive price, with the peace of mind that my toilet will arrive intact.

Very efficient staff and supply. I got what I need it at no time or hassle. Staff member quickly identified what I need, packed and go! That's how it's supposed to be service 5 star!!

I can't say enough positive things about this place.  The owner has incredible knowledge of his inventory and was able to go straight to what he was looking for.  He also took the time necessary to make sure I had what I needed.  I'll be back!

These guys are great.  I had a hard plumbing problem, very specific fixture with custom parts that were causing a kink and limiting water flow.  I was hoping for a simple solution, but given the peculiar situation, there wasn't one.  But, they came up with an ingenious idea for a work around.  $12 later I had the parts, and guess what!  It totally worked!  These guys are awesome.

You putting up curtains?

Indeed I was putting up curtains with the 20' of 1/2 black steel pipe I bought at A-1.  Needed some pipe hanging parts too, and the guys at A-1 were happy to help despite my non-plumbing needs.  Fast and good prices too.

The customer service is super nice here ! Peter was so patient and helpful to help me find out a no logo no brand faucet cartridge. He spent about 30 minutes to help me get the right part, not like other plumbing shops just ignored me and told me to buy a new faucet.  A-1 plumbing is great, they have a not big but nice showroom, I definitely will come again for my home remodeling.  I highly recommend A-1 plumbing supply&showroom.

They recently got new owners. I was worried for a bit that the old crew would go away. Nope Uriah and the other dude is still there and as helpful as always. The new owners are also super nice and helpful. Remains my favorite plumbing place in the city.

Got tired of hearing the stupid toilet leaking so I decided to fix it. Thought about Home Creepo, but didn't want to drive that far so I hunted the locals on Google and settled on A-1 .

This its not a consumer oriented place, more of a place where plumbers come and then charge you extra for the stuff they buy there.  Not only did they have several types to choose from, the older guy actually knew about them and told me what to buy, all the plumbers are buying this one, supposed to sell it just to plumbers but as long as you have cash,...

In the end, I got professional advise and service that I would never have received at big box discounters. I was happy and proud of the way SF supports their small merchants. A-1 is great, I'll go back for all my plumbing stuff.

Really helpful, nice guy. He didn't have what I needed, but spent a lot of time with me anyway. I would definitely come back.

I haven't actually bought anything from this store, but I just went there today (based on the terrific recommendations left here on Yelp) to suss out what was available for a home plumbing project that I'm working on (no double entendre's there).

Anyway, I am pretty ignorant on all things plumbing (except how to change a flapper, etc), and these guys were kind and generous enough to educate me on plumbing pipe threads, etc.  Took about 15-20 minutes of their time, and they were genuinely interested in my project.  

It's a pretty modest project involving home automation (Insteon), two kinds of solenoids (gravity and pressure fed), running water, an indoor fountain that my cat drinks out of and 120v AC.  What could possibly go wrong?

I need to sketch out the final design and all that, but I have no doubt that even if I could get these things for cheaper on ebay/amazon/misc-internet-store, I want to support this kind of attitude.

Disclaimer: I don't know a thing about their pricing yet, and for something this modest, price really isn't an issue, so I can't give any feedback on that yet.

Thank goodness these guys have linear shower drains in stock.  I think the drains are from China - Dawn brand, but when you are in a bind and can't wait 2-4 weeks for custom orders or even wait for Lowes or Home Depot to ship it to you - this was the best option!  The price on the linear shower drain was also super reasonable.  I noticed they had a bunch of Toto toilets in stock - again, high-end plumbing stuff is not easy to find in-stock so it was great that they had a few options - for those of you crazy enough to try to tackle a bathroom remodel WITHOUT ordering 4 weeks in advance.  They also immediately answered my question over the phone - didn't have to wait on hold for a quick answer.

Very friendly and knowledgeable. They had everything in stock and will spend extra time with you to answer any questions. Great store.

The staff at A1 were great they took the time to understand what it was that I was looking for, the guy at the front then showed me what I  needed to fix my problem. They were so kind and patient and answered all my questions. I also needed some piping cut and Malcolm I believe   his name is, was fast professional and clean and it didn't him take long. I am very happy with Peter and Angie and their Staff's service and expertise. I  will keep coming back to A1 plumbing supply for my future plumbing needs.

I found them on Yelp and they are able to help and answer all my questions. They have good customer service and I really enjoy working with them. I will highly recommend them to everyone and someone who is looking for professional service.

I'm always skeptical when a place has 5 star reviews across the board, but this place is the real deal. I had a small, custom project with a lot of pieces that took a lot of time, and they were patient and helpful every step of the way. Even when I cut a pipe to the wrong length, they re-cut it for me so I could get the job done. Thanks guys!

This is definitely a contractors-only-type store, but I (not a contractor) came in with a ridiculous waste-of-time problem and they were super happy to help and spent half an hour trying to chase down a solution for me. Unbelievable service.

I've been having trouble finding a part for a Dornsbracht valve.  I've tried 3 or 4 other plumbing supply/dealers, and the part was so small that everyone else literally dropped the ball.  Promises made, promises broken, and this is with me having even found the part number myself.
That was until I spoke to Adon (spelling?) here at A-1.  He was a JOY to deal with.  He followed through, called back even sooner than he said he would, and even found a way to expedite things for me.  I spent many years working at the Ritz Carlton Hotel, so I know all about going  the extra mile for a customer, and this is the first time in my life, that I've been on the receiving end of such amazing customer service.  Forget the big box stores.  If you need a supplier who will treat you like gold, and really care about you, come here.

I have to second the high rating for service and attention.  It doesn't get any better.  I've had a number of experiences there where they've bent over backwards to help me out.  If you're not a plumber, this is the perfect place to go.  These guys aren't plumbers either, but they've picked up enough over the years to get you going.  You'll have a hard time getting anywhere near this level of attention from the other plumbing supply houses.  Call in large orders; it takes them a while to get things together.  The one downside of their setup is that you can't wander into their stock and play with fittings.  That can be useful.

Wow. I think I've only taken the time to write one Yelp before and that was on having the worst freakin service/experience at Tacqueria Cancun on Mission.  Well, my experience has gotta be either exceptionally good or really stinkin bad for me to take the time to log in and babble about it - A-1??? ROCKIN IT GUYS.

I called at 4:45pm and was told they closed at 5 but if I was on my way they'd stick around - even though I only needed a measly little adapter (ended up only bein $2.50!! -  paid $5 so at least the guy could buy himself a beer on the way home - I'm gonna hafta get his name again and update it cause the guy was one of those rare people goes above and beyond the call of duty with no incentive other than to make a happy customer - you know who you are brother man!)

I was there at 5 - they could've been typical of so many places that would've just told me to come back tomorrow when they re-opened, that it was closing time - but did they? Heck no!! Nope.  Brotha man started diggin thru a box of adapters - went thru 4 or 5 and I says, hey man, I know its past closin time n you're prolly ready to get home and I know you still got stuff to do here, how bout i just come back tomorrow? no biggie man.. - he could've took me up on that made me make the trip back - it's sure not like they were ringing up some monster bill - less than a $5 part!! - but did he? nope. about  a minute later he finds it, it works, and he's ringin up the measly $2.50 ticket.

So often in this city I'm met by disgruntled, rude, snotty, unhelpful, arrogant employees/businesses.  This place is NOT one of those.  

This is one of those rare places that even if they charged more for their wares (which they apparently don't), you would gladly pay the extra, just for the unbelievably exceptional service AND great prices...

I will NEVER go anywhere for anything else I need - these guys have earned the honor of impressing the hell out of me enough to make me sit my butt down soon as I got home - I still haven't even gotten to my second sip of beer and it's been a LONG day - and write this review.

Thank you guys.  Absolutely made my loooong, not so pleasant day sooo much better.  Rock on.  You got a customer for life.  Beers are on me next time I roll thru.

One word: AWESOME. I was looking for a single shut off valve handle over 2 weeks on the Internet and Low'es, home Depot, etc. I could not find it. I went to A-1 Plumbing Supply Company and within minutes, the person behind the counter was able to find it for me. Wonderful Service, Friendly attitude, Willingness to help, Go out of way to find whatever part you need.
