READ or your remodel/rebuild could start falling apart like mine:

In May of 2011 I hired Retro Pro to do a bathroom remodel and build a small bathroom. It all looked beautiful. BUT the workmanship and skimping on materials was  later found to be subpar. I had to replace the entire shower that they built in December of 2014 because the curb going into the shower was level and alot of water ended up outside shower floor. The shower pan also was leaking as well as I had water damage on the base boards in the 2 closets next to the shower. That was only 3 yrs later.

Eric the owner of Retro Pro gave me a ton of problems in addressing the issue, he was no help at all and talked to me like I was stupid. He sent guys out to appease me, but it didn't. It only made me madder and they offered no solution and told me the curb should be level. Upon much research I had found out from the City of Mesa they had not drawn permits. NO WONDER EVERYTHING WAS FALLING APART it would never have passed inspection. The City of Mesa made them pay for the permits, etc... I had to have the shower completely redone so they came out and inspected it. The new contractor was amazed that Retro Pro only put down Redguard for the shower pan and no thick plastic liner. It cost me an additional $2k to have that done. That was only 3 yrs after the initial remodel/rebuild was done.

Now here it is January 2019 and I shouldn't be surprised! Part of my corner shower shelf tile is falling off the wall. In the pictures you can see that they only did a couple dabs of whatever it is that is used to hold the tiles together. Again showing that they skimped on materials.

Oh, by the way. When the City of Mesa got involved regarding the permits. that is the only time Eric offered to repair the curb, but not the shower. I told him I wouldn't trust him with anything. HE DOESN'T STAND BY HIS WORK because it only has a 2 yr warranty. And my major shower issues was at 3 yrs! I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY - AS I SAID WAITING FOR TILES TO FALL OFF WALL NOW!

We interviewed 4 companies up front for a major kitchen renovation - walls & doors removed & added, plus full counter/ cabinet/ floor/ backsplash. Also included new lighting & A/C ducts & moving appliances. Taking 1979 fluorescent lighting & tile counters into 2019.

Eric (owner) & Angela (design) got the business because they were honest and timely - the only proposal to come in complete and on time. RetroPro was not the most or least expensive, but definitely the most responsive.

The process was very smooth - we made decisions early to get materials on order, and started the work 3 weeks later with a 7 week estimate for completion. They explained every step, and really listened to what we wanted and paid good attention to our style & budget & everything. Eric's proposal for moving things around and making the overzsize pantry into a mud room was very clever.

The job started on time, Omar was great with letting us know status, and respecting our home while they worked - kept things as clean as possible. There were a few minor tweaks during the tear down and build up, and the team always explained our options and resolved everything beautifully. Having Angela assist with design decisions on the fly was particularly helpful!

We couldn't be happier with the results. On time and no surprises. Hopefully I can post pics with this review. The workmanship and materials are excellent ...  and that's expected when you hire a full service contractor to do the work. What was unexpected is finding this gem of a small business with people who are hard working and honest, and really care about what they do.

We can't say enough great things about this company! We knew it was going to be a little pricier than some of the competition that came out and give us quotes, but boy was it worth it! Nestor, Eric, Angela & Steve were a dream to work with. Our master bathroom came out perfect! Better than we ever pictured! No detail was spared, from the incredible cleanliness of the crew every day, detailed drawings, beautiful shop to pick out products, to the daily check-in's from The project manager. We would recommend Retro pro to friends and family for sure!

Eric and Angela did a great job helping us step-by-step through the process, beginning to end, and Max and Junior did a fantastic job on the remodel itself (as did the rest of the project team). You'd think having people in your house day after day tearing out walls and what not might be challenging or disrupting to your normal schedule, but it wasn't - and that's really due to Max and Junior, such great guys who made the process easy and fun. Just phoned for an estimate and spoke with their interior designer.  She informed me that they won't install anything you don't buy directly from them- due to, ahem, liability reasons-even though I bought a light fixture and a vanity from Home Depot.  This is code for: we are so greedy that we want to make money off of (upcharge) every single thing we can sell you in addition to the other materials and labor we will charge for and make money off of. Greed.  Just plain greed.  STEER CLEAR!

Awesome company to work with. Eric, Angela, Steve, Nestor and staff delivered as promised.  Start to finish we were kept informed of the projects progress and it was completed in a timely manner. We are very happy with our results and highly recommend Retro Pro!

We needed to have two of our bathrooms remodeled; our master bathroom and family/guest bathroom. We had three companies come to our home to give us estimates and ideas. Each of the first two sent one person for the estimate. I was disappointed after meeting with them. Basically, all I received was an estimate price of what it would cost to complete and absolutely no design concepts or architectural ideas. I then contacted Retro-Pro and made an appointment with Eric and Angela. They arrived on time and spent approximately one hour going over the project. Eric offered architectural/building ideas while Angela gave design details. I was impressed. They offered information that I had not previously considered or knew. They explained that all the workers that would be at our home are their employees and that nothing is subcontracted. They gave me an exact price on what our project would cost and we made another appointment to meet at their design studio to go over tile and fixture options. They began work on November 14th and the final walk through was on December 22nd, 2016. They assigned a Project Manager, Omar, and he was in contact with us daily as to the progress of the project. He answered all our questions during the construction and addressed any issues or concerns that we had. The construction crews respected our home by using plenty of plastic sheeting and heavy duty paper to protect our belongings and our floors. Angela and Steve, Project Supervisor, would stop by every few days to monitor how the project was progressing. We now have two beautiful bathrooms that we will enjoy for years to come. Angela's design talents shine every time we enter one of our bathrooms. We are so grateful that the project was handled start-to-finish with such professionalism and with the utmost respect for our home. The craftsmanship is second to none. I would not hesitate to hire Retro-Pro again or to recommend them to anyone who is looking for a low-stress, highly-professional company to create a beautiful kitchen or bath environment in their home.

Very honest company and top notch customer service. Highly recommend!!  We had a great experience with some work needed in our bathroom.

I wanted to redo a shower to make it tile and glass and redo another bathroom to include new cabinets, tile, and a glass shower. Retro Pro gave me a competitive quote (priced about the same as the others), but I chose them because they approached the project like a partnership. During the initial meeting, Steve offered some helpful suggestions to address a few things I said I didn't like about the existing bathrooms. He did it in a nice and open way so that it was easy to say yeah or nah. And he focused on what would make me the happiest as opposed to just getting the job done.

When it came to timing, they worked around my schedule, including the holidays, guest visits, etc. while giving me the feeling that what I wanted mattered more than what would be the easiest for them.

When it came to doing the work, they protected my home like a cocoon. My carpet was protected by layers of heavy plastic wrap that held up very well for the duration. My wood floors were kept safe by a protective layer. And they cleaned up every night before leaving. They did a great job of bringing in well-managed teams of workers to keep the project moving along quickly. And they kept us informed about the timing along the way so there weren't any surprises.

My husband was impressed by the ventilated plastic wall they taped to our home to keep dust and fumes in their working space and out of our living area. It looked pretty awesome and it did the job well. They carefully protected our home the whole time and it showed how they are customer-centered; they care a lot about how they could make the project easier and drama free for us.

As the work began, because they were so collaborative and insightful, I mentioned a few other things about other parts of my home that drove me a little bit crazy. For example, my other cabinets would slam shut and another cabinet had broken hardware. So they upgraded the hardware on my existing cabinets for a reasonable price. And boy, what an improvement. The cabinets fully close everywhere (none of that 'almost closed' look anywhere). And they open and shut simply and quietly. I love how much easier it is to use my old cabinets now. They didn't make any comments about do I want to replace these old cabinets? They just heard my comment about what bothered me about the old cabinets and they said, would you like it if we did x to fix it? and I was all ears since they were all ears and they'd won me over as great helpers with excellent work so they'd earned my trust and respect.

They also noticed that my garbage bin space was underutilized so they asked me if I'd like them to make it bigger by installing different hardware. Again, they made it easy for me to consider, with no pressure whatsoever. I gave it some thought then approved their proposal. And now I have about 1.5 times the bin space fit into the same cabinet. It looks awesome and glides out perfectly. Now I don't need to take out the garbage as often and it looks like the bins were custom made for the cabinet.

They noticed project work/materials details that should be improved before considering it done, even stuff that I had no idea wasn't quite right, and they made sure it was finished to the high standards that they hold. I didn't need to say a thing; they showed me the tiniest details they'd noticed that they could address and they'd get it done. Very nice.

Also, I felt that a couple of tiles weren't exactly what I wanted. The tiles are natural stone so some variation in the look of each tile is normal. Unfortunately, I didn't notice that I didn't like two of the tiles until after they were fully installed. I was kicking myself for not giving it a better look before the grout was put in. But they bent over backwards, sideways and forwards in the kindest of ways to redo the work however many times it took to make sure every single tile makes me smile every time I go into the room. Again, their only goal was to make me happy no matter what it took.

I can't say enough about how amazing they were to work with. Nestor, Steve, Eric, Angela...they are all excellent at what they do and their customer service throughout the project was exemplary. I am so glad I chose them to do the work.. And I'm delighted with the whole thing from start to finish. The next time I want some work done, even if I don't quite know what the solution would be, I know I can call them and they'll come back with something that'll work better than I'd have thought possible with minimal disruption, strong attention to detail, excellent problem solving skills, great ideas on how the look can come together, a customer service orientation, and with what'll make me happy as their sole focus. I couldn't ask for anything more...it was top notch all around.

I look forward to working with them on my next project. They took great care to make it exactly what I was hoping for and more. Wow, these folks are amazing.

We had our shower & bath tub remodeled a few weeks ago & honestly could not be happier.  Eric, the owner & Angela, the designer, came to our home to meet with us & to give us an idea of length of time for the project & to work on a quote.  We, then, met with them, along with Steve, the project manager, at the warehouse to see options & to choose the products that we preferred.  They listened to what we wanted & were very receptive to our requests.

The entire team came to our house before the start date so they could discuss what they were going to be doing & to give us the opportunity to meet everyone beforehand.  It was reassuring to discuss what was expected of everyone before they showed up.

We worked mostly with Nestor & Eddie.  They were both beyond competent & great to work with.  They were respectful of our time & that they were in someone's home.  They were so neat & clean.  Their work was perfection!

Yes! Omar and his assistant did an outstanding job for us.

BEWARE-THE OWNER DOES NOT OBTAIN PERMITS REQUIRED BY THE CITY TO DO PLUMBING AND ELECTRICAL WORK.  HE ALSO DOES NOT USE LICENSED ELECTRICIANS OR LICENSED PLUMBERS.  Needless to say our remodel was a painful experience.  It lasted months longer than it should have...due to a worker dropping a drill on the brand new vanity marble top and the owner wanting me to be ok with them filling the whole.  No way..we paid for a new vanity we wanted a new vanity..not a new fixed vanity.  Sadly we weren't able to get a new vanity because the 3 times they tried to replace it..each vanity showed up damaged..so we had to settle with a fixed marble top that you can still notice a hole in.  The BIGGEST issue was that the workers hooked up our above stove microwave into the lighting circuit.  Had the owner gotten a permit and used a licensed electrician...this giant mistake would not have happened.  Each time we would use the microwave...the power would go out.  This happened because they were supposed to add a new circuit strictly for the microwave...since it takes a lot of power.  Sadly we had to file a complaint with the registrar of contractors in order to make sure the owner got the permit AND a licensed electrician to do the job.  MAKE SURE YOU MAKE THE OWNER GET PERMITS!  In an email from the owner he said he doesn't get permits because it's a waste of time and money!  WELL IT'S ALSO ILLEGAL.  Also..we got brand new kitchen cabinets that took months to correct.  From doors being different sizes..to cracks and dents.  Owner wanted to brush it off saying they are up to standard.  It's up to standard to get brand new cabinets with dents and cracks?  We did end up getting a discount for the cabinets because we finally just settled with some of the flaws.  Also...the workers were careless as they did not cover our  brand new granite counter top before setting all of their tools and supplies on it.  We did hear that the owner demoted the worker that was on our job because of the electrical problem.  However...I put full onus on the OWNER as he did not have a licensed professional do the job like a LICENSED contractor is supposed to do.  There were a myriad of problems...part of my piano getting broken when they moved it...my couch getting scuffed up and having a person come out and airbrush my BRAND NEW couch.  It was a horrible experience.  We still have a little over a year left of our guarantee to fix things should other problems occur.  Praying there won't be something wrong with the plumbing since they did not use licensed plumbers either.  Also...I have MS and this experience sure flared it up!  Needless to say...we did not get a wonderful gift basket like Angela promised us after the project was complete.   One would think since you messed up so bad...you would have given us a freaking gift basket!  Oh well...here's to hoping the job is actually complete.

We had our kitchen done a few years ago and decided it was time to do the bathroom.  Retro Pro did a great job on the kitchen, so, it was an easy choice to choose them for the bathroom.  Another excellent job, from helping with the design to the choice of materials.  Eric, Steve, Angela, and of course, Omar and his crew are the best. We would not hesitate to use them again or to recommend them to anyone else.

We had 6 different estimates for our kitchen remodel.  Most of the contractors that visited our home said, This is a big job, which didn't instill a sense of confidence.  When Eric & Angela came into our home, they immediately understood our vision and made it seem almost easy to accomplish.  After having researched remodeling in our area, the price was in the range of what we had anticipated and very competitive.  What made them stand out for us, was their shared vision for the project, the in-house crew, and the attention to detail.  
Eric came up with several ideas for our layout that we had not even thought of and created a truly custom and beautiful kitchen.
Omar's craftsmanship and attention to detail made it obvious he has years of experience.  Any challenges our older home presented, he and his crew handled without issue.  Omar was very friendly to our kids, and never made us feel like we were in the way in our own home.
Angela provided advice on design to make the space feel cohesive with the rest of our house.  We originally thought pendant lights would make the kitchen feel too small.  She strongly recommended we go with them, and we absolutely love them.  
Steve was always reassuring to me when I was having trouble picturing the kitchen during the remodel.  He was always just a phone call away.
We were very happy with our entire remodeling process with Retro Pro.  If we had to do it all over, we would definitely choose them again.  The only thing friends and family say when they see our new kitchen is, Wow!

We recently had a first floor renovation of our condo in Phoenix while living on the East Coast.  The project included a complete kitchen expansion and remodel.  We were looking for a reputable company who could take control of the entire project since we would not be in town during construction.   Both Angela and Eric were terrific during all phases of the project, including design, scheduling, and construction.  They delivered on all aspects of the project, and their communication skills were key to our overall satisfaction of the project.

Angela and Eric offered various design options, and brought all aspects of the project together  from cabinetry, granite counter tops, flooring, and wall colors.  As usual, during construction, various unexpected issues came up, but Angela and Eric handled them very professionally, and were very accommodating.

We recommend them very highly, and will definitely use them again for our next project.

Project: Remodel 90s kitchen

Eric and Angela were very helpful with the design of our kitchen. They are very easy to work with, have a lot of good ideas, and have good pictures of remodels they have completed. This helped with explaining their ideas. They listen to your ideas and try to work them into the space.

The staff showed up at 8:30 am every weekday with only a few exceptions.  We were notified of those exceptions at least a day ahead. They were very helpful as we were living in the house while the construction was in process. They tried to keep the place livable. They also closed off rooms where they were working with plastic sheeting so as to keep the construction dust down.  They cleaned up every evening before leaving.

The trades showed up when scheduled.  We did not have many week days where work was not in process.

The time estimate was six weeks, and the actual was five weeks.  We love our new kitchen and it is very easy to work there.  We were so impressed with this project, we are having them back to remodel the shower area in the master bathroom.

I hired Retro Pro to remodel my guest bathroom after interviewing 4 companies. Their pricing was similar to 2 others, but not the lowest. We used Retro Pro for a guest bath remodel in 2013 and were so pleased that we used them again for the master bath and, as before, we were really satisfied with the results and the whole process. Eric and Angela met with us initially at our home and then again for a design consultation at their showroom. Angela was very helpful both in the design process and during the construction. The work encompassed
a total tear out of the existing bathroom, removal of a sunken tub, and a dividing wall. Two narrow windows were replaced with a single window involving the reworking of the stucco exterior. A new bathtub, tile surround, tile floor, new lighting and cabinets were installed. Nestor, our project manager, and the crew were professional, competent, very accommodating and polite. Eddie did a great job with the tile work as
he had done for the guest bath. It is nice to see a lot of the faces that were with the company four years ago. Communication was excellent and the project was finished on schedule. Although they are not the cheapest in town, the quality and peace of mind was well worth it and we highly recommend them.

Retro Pro did a complete re-do of our master bath 4 yrs ago, and they just completed doing our kitchen and guest bath this summer.  We couldn't ask for more from a contractor.  Workmanship is exceptional with perfect attention to detail and with great effort made in preventing the spread of dust which is always a part of reno projects.  And, importantly, constant communication never left any doubt as to what was being done, by whom and when.  Questions were answered on the spot, no waiting.  The design and quote process was painless thanks to Eric and Angela, and we got exactly what we wanted.  How often can you say that?  We strongly recommend this company.

We called Retro Pro for a master bathroom remodel.  (We had had several other indoor remodels completed in the last two years and while happy with the results, we were not happy with communication and overall execution.)  Eric and Angela came to our home for an initial visit.  Eric had the great vision of turning our shower and tub area that had a lot of wasted space into a beautiful tiled wet room with the shower area and tub behind glass, making full use of the area.  We met them at their showroom (amazing, by the way) to select tile, counters, sinks, tub, fixtures, etc., and also met Steve who leads their construction team.  Eric, Angela, and Steve made another visit before construction for measurements and to talk through process.  On day one, we met our project manager Nestor.  We could tell immediately how respectful he was of us and our home, thoroughly covering carpets and furniture to protect them from dirt and dust.  Throughout the process, Nestor was outstanding at communicating and either he or Steve were immediately responsive if we had a question.  They estimated 5 week, hoping to finish in 4.  They finished in exactly 4 weeks and we are enjoying our amazing bathroom.  Nestor and every member of the crew was respectful, hard working, and clearly wanted to make sure things were done right.  Having a major project ongoing in your home can be stressful, but they did everything in their power to make it as stress free as possible.  We have thoroughly enjoyed our new bathroom and highly recommend Retro Pro to anyone looking for a kitchen or bath remodel -- a great job and great value.  Our only regret is that we did not call them before our other remodels.

My wife and I just finished a complete (rip and replace) remodel of our master bathroom.  Retro Pro and the people from Retro Pro lived up to our expectations.  We are not easy to please.  We have a home built in 1992, and the master bath was very badly outdated.  We took our time in meeting with them, evaluating a few other contractors and then deciding on Retro Pro.  One of the strong selling points for me was that with the exception of the granite countertop fabrication, all of the work was done by Retro Pro employees - no sub-contractors.  This is a major plus.  Our project manager was Omar, and quite simply put, Omar is amazing, and his assistant Max was fantastic as well.  Omar knows all of the trades and is extremely detail-oriented.  The entire job was essentially completed in 4 weeks.  On day one, all of the demolition work was completed - one day!  This included tile removal, shower and tub removal, light fixture removal, toilet removal, mirror removal - the demo work was essentially done in one day.  They kept dust to a minimum by having plastic sheeting covering everything outside the master bath, and actually had a zippered plastic entry to the bathroom.  Through the job I never had any trouble getting in touch with the owners or the construction manager.  They called each morning to let us know what time they would be coming that day.  We also had Retro Pro install some new LED lighting in our kitchen and living room ceilings.  Fantastic result!  They assist with design and decorating ideas, and the whole job went really well.  We just had our final walk through this week on October 9.

The remodel was a major construction project and their team did everything possible to lessen the impact of such a project on our daily activities. I am a senior citizen living in a mobile home.  I had a lot of trouble getting in and out of the bathtub to shower so I called Retro Pro to come in and redesign my bathroom.  They listened to my needs and made a new bathroom for me, creating a shower with a bench to set on and handicap bars, gave me a new non-slip floor, and made my life more comfortable.  They were so good to work with, very considerate of my situation and the fact that I am home bound.  The workers took time to answer my questions and showed me their progress at the end of every day.  Now my new bathroom is the talk of my trailer park and my remaining years will be spent in comfort, all thanks to Retro Pro!  You can't go wrong by calling them to do your work.
