Howard Air installed our new HVAC unit almost 2 years ago. The system runs perfectly. The workmanship was incredible. Customer service has been awesome. We have had no issues with the new unit. They schedule the bi-annual service maintenance well in advance. I highly recommend Howard Air! They're great...from quoting the job, to install, and to top notch customer service! So happy we decided on this great company! I give them two very happy thumbs up!

Fountain Hills homeowner   Our 14 year old ac unit needed replacement. We sought bids from three companies and all three bids were in the same range but we chose Howard Air due to the solution suggested by the technician that called on us to make the bid.  They replaced the unit and we asked that they make the installation more discrete with less visible wires, etc.   The boss at Howard Air responded, sent his team and installation is now perfect. it's important to learn how a company treats you when things are not quite right.  Very impressed with the team and the culture of treating the customer.  Would highly recommend

Called for a tune up and was told this service is $129.  When I asked what the tune up covers I was told they don't know they just make the appointments.  Then I tried the chat and was told the same thing.

Don't hire just any HVAC contractor

Trying to hire a quality HVAC company takes time. Between phone calls, meetings, research, and quotes, a lot of your valuable time is taken away.

When my 20 year old HVAC started to fail, I made exhaustive phone calls, researched reporting bureau's, contacted Arizona Registrar of Contractors, and spoke with a dozen contractors. I was so glad,  after all my hard work I came across Scott, with Howard Air

Scott was professional in every sense of the word. Scott came out to my residence, gave my AC Unit and Duct work a thorough inspection,  and provided me with  a written estimate of the work that needed to be completed.

My experience with Howard Air  was exceptional, from my estimate to the completion of the job.
On the day of my installation
The entire team was very professional and addressed all our concerns. They made sure every precaution was taken to keep my home clean. The technicians were professional, knowledgeable, and kept me informed on their progress. They did a great job installing the unit.

I highly recommend Howard Air if you want quality craftsmanship for your HVAC project.

James (A great HVAC tech), can with a relief damper for our zoned AC system that Chas Robert originally installed. James was magical and has our system working better than ever. Chas Roberts left our HVAC system in bad shape, we purchased the home new, one side of our home really had No AC on the east side of the 1st floor, a zoning mix up that stopped 2 of our 3 zones without heat. Today James replace a bypass damper and now we have AC on the first floor on the east side. The only thing needed now is to have our AC unit changed in the attic as Chas Robert installed in backwards. Howard Air has a great Service Manager, Art Schieffer, and most of their technicians our top drawer. I am sure the technicians are all good, we just have not worked with them all. Stephen and James really stand out in my mind, as these two helped us out the most.

After suffering through shoddy repairs from home warranty companies for years, we found Howard Air's maintenance contract. It's been awesome! They come out twice a year to service the heating/AC unit and keep it running. Before them, we'd have breakdowns every summer (and have to wait days for service in 100+ degree heat). Now we have a company that will send someone out almost immediately if we have a major problem. But the best news is - since we've started using them, we've only had a problem once (and they covered the labor since they had just serviced it)! Preventative maintenance works!

Even though our unit is old, they don't pressure us to buy a new one or do major upgrades. They clearly explain any issues and provide options, not requirements, for repairs. My only complaint is that they used to do hot water heater emptying on the plan, but it looks like they moved that feature to a more expensive package. As long as they keep the AC running in the summer, we can handle the hot water heater ourselves!

We have had a good experience with two out of our three techs. The one tech way oversold repairs needed that the other two said were unnecessary. All three had differing opinions on the state of my residential HVAC system. Already put me at unease.

Final straw occurred today. We just closed on a new house and wanted Howard Air to do do a service check on the system. Had an appointment scheduled for this morning. About halfway through the scheduled timeframe, we decided to call and double check on when to expect the technician.

The lady apologized, but due to big jobs, they need to cancel our service appointment and we will be rescheduled for July 11.  A month later than our previously scheduled appointment.

No thanks. I need a company that can reliably service customers. Work some overtime to clear your backlog. Hire more employees if your customer base is that large.

I called them on sat Dec 29th due to my main furnace not working.. they scheduled an appointment for me between 12-6pm today the 21st.

at 5:30 i had not heard anything from them so was a little concerned.. i called and got the answering service and they sent a message to the on call tech. after hanging up with them. i double checked the email confirmation just to make sure it was scheduled for today and it was..... in 2019. so of course i was not going to get a phone call today.

The on call tech called me back and said due to it raining they couldn't send someone out. which if my appointment had been set up correctly i would have known about earlier so i wouldn't have wasted 6 hours of my day.. it had only started raining around 4pm so a good chance they could have gotten out here before it started raining.

Tomorrow is supposed to be in the mid 40's and i now have to sit around and waste another 6 hours.. and hope like hell it doesn't rain again

We purchased a new AC unit from Howard Air last summer. The sales and installation process were great, and the company did honor our contract (which is the only reason for the 1 star), but as soon as we needed maintenance, their customer service really went downhill. It honestly felt like the company had already gotten their money from us, so they could jerk us around as long as they wanted while we needed our AC unit fixed.

We woke up last Saturday to our AC unit being completely out - the thermostat was off and the fuse had been tripped and would not turn back on. The AC had worked great prior to the company coming out for a routine service call a couple of weeks ago.

We called Howard Air as soon as we realized the AC was out, at about 7 a.m. They told us they would not be able to even come look at the unit until 6 p.m. Mind you I am four months pregnant and have two dogs and the high was 110. Meanwhile we were able to track down another company that would have been able to send a technician within an hour, yet we could not have them fix the unit since we were under contract with Howard Air.

After several persistent phone calls and threats to return the AC unit, we were told to expect a technician between 12 and 3 p.m. We sat in the heat all day and a technician never showed up until 7 p.m. We called multiple times to get an update, and the receptionist was unable to tell us a realistic time to expect service, and could only tell us that the technician was busy on another job.

Once the technician did show up extremely late, he looked at the unit for about an hour and a half, only to tell us that the part that needed to be replaced would not be available until Monday. Well, Monday came and went, and again after several calls to get an update on service we were only told that the part was on backorder and the receptionist did not know when the part would come in or when we could expect our unit to be fixed. Finally on Tuesday we received word that the part was in and the unit was fixed later that day.

We are very fortunate that we had relatives we could stay with for three nights and four days. What are customers supposed to do who either don't have a place to stay or who can't afford a hotel room? Not to mention we should not even be having problems with an AC unit that was barely purchased a year ago!

I truly do not know how in this day and age a company can be so clueless as to 1) where their workers are and how long their current job is expected to take and 2) the status of an item they have ordered. I am completely dumbfounded at the lack of communication and customer service from the receptionist and company as a whole - we would not have gotten half the updates we did if we had not been calling them proactively. The least they can do is give their customers appropriate estimates and updates.

I don't know how they can keep up with demand or continue to schedule appointments when there is no communication between the office and the technicians, and they have no idea where their orders are or how long anything will take. Are the technicians just given free reign with no accountability? Do they not have any tracking capabilities on the items they are ordering? I find it hard to believe that they can stay in business with practices like this.

After the treatment we received, I would not recommend this company if you would like to receive prompt and accurate service. We do not plan on doing business with them in the future.

We had our air conditioning unit serviced yesterday by Howard Air!  Extremely impressed with the entire staff from reception to the service tech.  From the time I called to completion they were personable and professional.  I received emails and phone calls keeping me informed.
The technician replaced a part and took the time to explain everything to us from the working of it through the warranty!  Thank you Kevin Huston and Howard Air!

I had a service contract with Parker and Sons and when they came out to do my biannual check up they told me I needed $3000 in repairs. I called Howard Air. Kent came out and said it needed NOTHING and charged me NOTHING!

I'm canceling my contract with P&S and signing up with Howard Air!

Service is 5 star, but the billing kills it for them.

I have been a customer of Howard Air for 3 years - love their annual maintenance plan. The service technicians are always professional, courteous, clean and do a great job of helping me understand my AC unit. After every service, my report is quickly and efficiently emailed to me. Everything is done with technology. Until you call the office.

This year I forgot to ask for my renewal with my spring service - which the technician would have done in the field (love this!). So I needed to call to make payment. The nice gentleman who answered the phone was very willing to help and he was extremely polite. He took all of my credit card information, my billing address, and thankfully he stopped short of my mother's maiden name. At the conclusion of the call, he said ok I will get this over to billing. My brain started screaming!!!

Why in today's technological age is all of my pertinent credit card information floating around an office on a piece of paper?!?!?! Additionally, he was kind enough to repeat every detail regarding my credit card number aloud in the office. I appreciate wanting to make sure the information is correct. Businesses, in 2018, should have a better fraud protection mindset for their customers. I'm sure everything will be fine. I just don't understand why there are not more layers of consumer protection in the business office like there are with the technicians in the field.

Yep! It's time for Service Maintenance again in order to get ready for the summer by Howard Air technician (Waymond).  He cleaned, inspect to make sure all the components are working properly.  We are very happy to have Waymond doing the maintenance for the three properties.  Yes, we request for him when time to do the maintenance.

If anyone is looking to get a new A/C system, I would recommend to do business with Howard Air, this company is honest, fair, and they are dependable when system is not working.

We called these folks originally to have maintenance done on our 2 units. While the Tech was there he presented us with the maintenance agreement options and after discussing the details decided on the Deluxe level for each unit.

A little over a month later, our upstairs unit stopped cooling and the 110 degree temps were coming! I called Howard Air at 7pm the night the unit went down and they were at my house at my request, after 3pm the next day.

The tech found the problem which was some burned contacts. Replaced the contacts and the wires, and I paid $0 for the whole thing thanks to the Maintenance agreement!

It paid for itself in one call!

Thanks Howard Air for living up to your promises!

My AC was blowing not so cold air.  I called a Howard Air tech out.  He hooked up his gear, and told me I needed refrigerant (shocker).  I said, ok but why? do I need it.  Is there a leak?  You haven't even seen the upstairs air handler yet, do you want to check the attic?  Well, if you want me to do a leak check, that will be an additional $230 to what you have already paid to have me out, and going into the attic isn't going to tell me anything more than I already know.  So he put the refrigerant in (8lbs worth) after telling me that it shouldn't take more than 4 or 5.  And guess what?  It didn't fix the issue at all.  So then he recommended that we do a leak check for the extra $230.  I told him that I was trying to figure out how a leak check was going to help me at this point, when there is already 8lbs of refrigerant in there and the readings never changed.  i also informed him that I was not going to pay $800 for refrigerant.  He told me that he would only charge me for 3lbs, which was actually the only good thing about this visit.  I heard him on the phone with someone multiple times during the visit, and it was clear that he had no idea what was going on with my unit.  So I paid the bill $387 and called out Williams Mechanical.  The technician from Williams was shocked that the previous tech never went into the house at all to look at the air handler.  After hearing about the refrigerant, he went up there first.  In five mins he saw that the blower motor was burned out.  He brought one from his truck, replaced it and then had to go downstairs and remove refrigerant from the line becuse the previous technician had severely overcharged it.  Which means...I paid Howard Air almost $400 to come out and cause more problems than were there from the start.  So, I contacted Howard Air (Justin Hathaway), told him my situation, sent him the invoice from Williams Mechanical and told him that I would like the refrigerant refunded.  He said he would look into it, and then ghosted me completely.  I then sent this issue over to our sales person Scott Byrd and let him know what was going on (hoping for some help and professional courtesy since we have invested over $40k with this company in the past)....to my dismay....no response.  Not even the courtesy of an explanation.  Because, quite frankly there is no explanation for this.  So instead of getting back to me and working with me, they just chose to ignore me.  I have already seen issues about Justin on previous reviews here, so I guess it is not a total surprise, but this was a huge disappointment to me.  If they treat a customer of more than a decade like this, what chance do you have as a newbie?  I would steer clear of this company going forward, something has clearly changed.  Give Williams Mechanical a call, great customer service by a smaller company that still apparently cares about its customers, not just making a buck.

Howard Air was recommended by a neighbor. I called and they came out within minutes and provided a very comprehensive estimate. Scott Bird was our go to guy. Excellent and knowledgeable man. We are going to move forward with Scott's estimate and will update our review afterwards but I'm anticipating it'll be as 5 Star as it's been thus far. Important to point out: I also requested an estimate for my mother in laws return box to be replaced. She had a new HVAC installed a couple years ago and although it's a great unit the installer never took the time to check out the return box. It was from 1964 and was pretty weird and non conventional in its shape requiring special filters. Scott Bird came out to estimate the replacement. Again, 5 star service. They did the job which was 100% perfect and left the job clean.

I'm writing this review to warn others against doing business with Howard Air. If you decide to use them, you will overpay for parts you do not need, overpay for any new system, and have to deal with deceitful techs and high pressure sales people.

At the end of April, my A/C would not turn on. After some Google searching I had a Howard Air tech come out. There ended up being a lose wire, but the tech insisted on installing a capacitor, even though the old one was still working. Since the visit and capacitor would be charges, he talked me into signing a one-year service agreement for over $430.

Well a little over two months later, the A/C stopped blowing cold air. Another tech came out, and immediately started with the sales pressure of buying a new unit. He determined it would be $1500 to fix it, but it I agreed to buy a whole new system, they would fix it for free while I waited 3 weeks for a new install. This was another red flag. I asked him to give me a copy of the diagnosis, and he said it would be emailed to me. It never was. I called the next day asking, and it was still never sent.

A few hours later, a Howard Air sales rep comes out to discuss a new system. He immediately starts trying to find unnecessary extra costs to add on. Even though the last A/C ran just fine for 20 years, he was trying to tell me the air intakes are not big enough, etc. Either way, it's not pleasant to live here in the summer without A/C. The sales person starts talking about a lot of extras I'll get, which I later found out are now required code by any installer and included regardless. He finishes up and tells me I'll have the quotes that night. He did not send the quotes until the following evening.

By this time, I had find a different company to come out. They were much more honest, $1300 less for the same system, included a variable speed blower fan, and were able to install it the next day.

After my install, I called Howard Air to cancel my service agreement (I paid for a year and used less than three months). I expected the two service calls not to be reimbursed, but of course they found all sorts of excuses not to give me any money back.

At the end of the day, it cost me a couple hundred dollars, but at least I'll never have to deal with this greedy company again.

Just Exemplary Service!

It is not often that you come across friendly and professional customer service with attention to detail that exceeds your expectations.  But Howard Air gets it done!

I have never really been happy with the performance of our air conditioning unit.  I have always felt as if it was inadequate and not cooling properly, despite being told that it was a top-performing unit by one of the best manufacturers.  Thinking a cleaning of the coils might help, I decided to give Howard Air a call and see about a cleaning and check up.  Perhaps this would help a little bit when the mercury hovers near 118°.

My initial contact was by phone with Shelia.  She was courteous and helpful.  I was sent an email that fully explained what options there were for a checkup, cleaning and maintenance plan.  After scheduling a time and date, I received a follow up email confirmation.  On my appointment day, I received another email reminding me of my appointment and that I would receive a phone call from the technician to confirm his arrival time.

When Cliff arrived, on time as expected, I explained that I felt my Air Conditioner was not up to par.  He listened to my concerns and then headed up to the attic to take a look.  Within ten minutes of his arrival I heard what I had never heard before - air rushing out of my vents at a fervor.  Not only that, I could feel the air blowing in parts of the house that were typically warm.  When he came down out of the attic, I asked what he did and he said that the fan on the air handler was wired wrong.  Wow!  I have had two separate home inspections and two different a/c companies out to check these same units and all they have ever said is that everything looks good and is operating as it should.  Those other companies also told me that I had a quality unit and it is at its peak performance.  At this point, I was sold on Howard Air - no fluff just results.

After checking filters and electrostatic units in the attic, Cliff went outside to check the rest of the system.  Again, within minutes, he was back and said that the unit was low on Freon, and the coils could use some cleaning as they probably hadn't been cleaned in a couple of years (what did those other techs do?).

Fast forward a 90 minutes later and suffice to say that even though the temperature outside was record-breaking and HOT, I was feeling, for the first time ever, ice cold Arctic air gushing out of all my air vents.  He even pointed out that one of my air vent registers was upside down and fixed that too.  So, in less than two hours, for a fraction of what I had spent over the years elsewhere, I had a properly operating, efficient system that coincided with what I was being told before, but never believed - Howard Air made it happen in just one visit.

I am now a believer in routine a/c checkups (done by someone who knows what they are doing) and I also subscribe to the Maintenance Plan that they offer.  Now I know the job will be done correctly and only the things that are needed will be replaced.  I also know that it will be done so with efficiency, integrity and done correctly.

The level of attention to detail went up another notch when I later went outside.  Not only did the a/c unit sparkle, but also the side of the house was free of dust and the area all around my unit was swept, tidy and clean.  Even my garden hose, used to clean the coils and a/c unit, was coiled up and neatly stowed - even I don't do that - and the hose certainly wasn't coiled up and neat when he first used it.  I was even more impressed.

Overall, Howard Air is an excellent example of a local business (which has grown quite large over the years) that gets the job done with honesty, professionalism and a sense of caring about their customers.  I am glad I decided to give them a call . . . my electric bill has been lower, my unit runs better, and less often, and for the first time, I have been able to feel cool, in the middle of the day.

Overall: 4.5 Stars
Quality: 4.5 Stars
Service: 5 Stars
Price/Value: 4 Stars

We had Howard Air install a ductless mini-split AC system in our garage.  I am generously giving it three stars, since the work appears to be of good quality so far.  Unfortunately, it has taken them many visits more, and a FULL MONTH longer, than expected.  Some of that was due to changes to Mitsubishi's product, and much of it was due to poor communication and coordination among Howard Air people.  The upshot for us is that we've had to rearrange our schedules for several weeks to accommodate many more days of workers in our home than expected, and I've been without the use of the garage workshop for a month, during a peak time of expected use.  Now that the project is finally nearing completion the seasons have changed!

To add to my irritation, I'm having to now spend a LOT of time cleaning up after their work.  They have left a coating of fine white powder (from drywall) over EVERYTHING in our garage.  I'm having to individually clean every wrench, screwdriver, cord, battery, hinge, drawer handle, nail, glove, rubber mat, etc. etc. by hand.  Thousands of items to move out, clean and move back in.  It's wearing on my nerves, and on my air compressor!  I'll probably never get it all.

Of course the AC would die at 530pm at least it's during the week! We spent hours calling around searching for a company to come out asap. Everyone was scheduling a week out! A WEEK in AZ summer temps 113-120? NOPE, NOPE, NOPE!
Howard Air said they'd be here the next day by 12noon. By god there was a knock at my door at 1030am! Shawn was pleasant, professional and immediately began to investigate. Shawn diagnosed the problem within 20mins, he explained everything and our options; no price gouge, no sales just facts. It's 12noon now, Shawn is gone and the AC is blowing cold. All is right in the universe! Kudos to Shawn for the superior customer service and a big thank you to everyone at Howard Air who made my swift resolution possible!

I have not had the AC serviced in two years. The AC is a roof unit on top of our three story condo building.  I called Howard Air a couple weeks ago for a seasonal checkup. I was told the techs were extremely busy but they scheduled for today.

Howard Air Tech Stuart arrived and did his inspection. I honestly was expecting a gloomy report since our AC is 14 years old. He showed me the check list where everything was well within specs. Then he went up on roof and cleaned the dust from the evaporators fins with a portable water tank. Once again everything checked ok.

Stuart kidded with my grandkids as he wrote up his inspection report and was a very friendly even though it was 100 degrees outside and heaven knows how hot in the roof. Great representative for Howard Air.

This is the second time I've used Howard Air. Previously the tech told me my A Coil was very dirty but told me I could  easily clean it myself and save money OR he clean it but would have bill me. He explained how to clean it and I cleaned it myself.

I feel very confident calling Howard Air for future needs.

My original problem was that early in the morning the unit would not heat the house up to the set temperature. I have a 7 day programmable thermostat. I had them out last spring to check on this problem. The tech checked my unit and suggested replacing two parts. He did not push the issue but left the decision entirely up to me. After discussing the options with Clifford, I decided to purchase the service plan. Clifford suggested giving the thermostat a try in the fall to see how it would function.

Lately, I have needed some heat early in the mornings and found that I have the same issue, so I called Howard Air out again. Howard Air actually sent me an email with the tech's picture and the estimated time he would arrive. I thought that was very nice of them.

Yubani called before he arrived and arrived on time. After spending some time checking everything out, he told me that he could not find anything wrong with the thermostat. He suggested trying the manual mode (since the programmable mode can be a little tricky) to see if that would solve the problem. He said he would still come out and replace the thermostat if I was still having problems but to give this a try. Since I purchased the service plan, there was no charge for the service.

Both techs were very nice, polite, and helpful. I had a number of questions and both told the time to answer them to my satisfaction. They even put those shoe coverings on there shoes when they came into the house.

If you are in need of A/C or heating service, please give them a try. I don't think you will be sorry. I highly recommend them.

Howard Air was called out this summer to fix a mid 60s AZ unit in our house. They arrived promptly, determined an ancient fan relay had died and replaced it for $300. (Another HVAC company in the Valley had told us this part was unobtainable and the entire system had to be replaced due to this part failing 2 years ago). We asked Howard Air, how bad is this AC unit? They told us it was well built, not efficient, and could continue to function for many more years.

Last week the whole house fan that moves AC or furnace air died. Howard Air told us it could be replaced for over $1000, but they really had to look hard to maybe find the parts. We then decided it finally was time for an entire new system. After interviewing us, taking measurements of the house we had a very nice estimate. The installation took place in about 7 hours. All the old unit was hauled away, all the new unit boxes were removed. They really worked hard to not be intrusive.

No hard sales pitch from the estimator, we did not get a state of the art system, just a much more efficient system. We were able to buy exactly the level of system we wanted.

First experience with Howard Air was this past weekend after our usual guy didn't call me back. I was looking for just some standard maintenance/tune up work to keep my ac working great as the weather starts to warm up. The technician called me when he was about an hour out and while he worked on our unit he kept us informed throughout the process showing us pictures before and after. The service plan was a very reasonable price and the few additional minor fixes on our unit were reasonable as well. Based on service and price we will definitely continue to use Howard Air.

Simply the best! Spent several hours today with the wonderful men at Howard Air that installed my beautiful new AC unit!  The new Trane unit cooled down the house in 30 minutes and is sooo quiet.  I would recommend Howard Air to everyone. From the initial call in for service, to the tech Bruce to John and Cameron who spent a sweltering day on my roof and in the attic always with a smile. I cant thank you all enough!  Truly a special company to work with and it shows in every step through all of your people. Thank you!

Don't bother if you're looking for 24/7 service.  Called at 3am and was told the on-call tech would call me back.  Didn't get a phonecall until 3 hours later from the office (not the on call tech) to schedule an appointment.

We have Howard Air come to our house every spring to maintenance our A/C unit.  3 years ago when a competitor told us that we needed to replace our unit, we called Howard Air for a second opinion.  That A/C unit is still running today.  Thank you Howard Air for your honesty.

July 2016-Arrived home from a Vegas trip on a Friday to find our air was at a muggy 88 degrees. Checked out Yelp and found Howard Air reviews to be pretty good. We had a tech out Saturday- he explained in detail what can be done- filled( recharged?) the Freon and we were good to go. Noting , yes, we do have an old unit that will have to get replaced soon- still. We were'nt forced into you gotta get a whole new unit ,now kinda deal.- We appreciate that.
Thanks!

Sept 2016- Went to my Dad's place to do some clean up, the thermostat wouldn't go lower than 94. Called Howard Air and got a tech over the next day. Dave was prompt and helpful- gave me the low down on what was happening w/ the system. Even checked for warranty on the compressor. Discovered only needed an adjustment to the hose. Filled Freon.
Another good job!- thanks

Howard Air was referred to me by friends & I couldn't be more pleased. In the past I had a few negative experiences with other companies. Today's visit was for maintenance only but I also renewed my annual contract. I'd like to give a shout out to Miguel, my service technician, who provided excellent customer service.....prompt, personable, professional & explained his findings in detail. Even the dogs liked him!
All in all, I am very pleased with Howard Air.

Waymond did an outstanding job!  We have an older A/C system that required some out of the box thinking to get our home cool. Waymond worked quickly to fix the problem once he diagnose the root cause to why our A/C system wasn't producing cold airflow.   I would high r commend Howard Air for all you HVAC needs.

Updated Review December, 2015
When we purchased our home early in 2014, we had been informed by the home inspector that our HVAC system was over 15 years old and that we should expect to replace it in the future.
During a recent cold snap, we needed warm air, but found our system would not function (glad this didn't happen when we needed the AC this past summer!).  Howard Air was called (they kindly bumped up our previously scheduled maintenance visit) and Bryan, our usual tech confirmed that our system was in need of expensive repairs (confirmed by competing bids we received over the next two days by other HVAC companies) or replacement.

Bryan made arrangements for Scott Bird, a senior HVAC consultant to visit our home & provide a detailed analysis & presentation.  Scott arrived the next day and at the conclusion of his thorough inspection of our HVAC, roof & attic, gave us a detailed presentation of our options.  Scott (he has an engineering background) answered each of our questions and concerns. We decided not waste further money on an 18 year old system and went with a replacement. We received bids from a total of 3 HVAC companies and chose Howard Air as they best provided the best overall option for us. Scott also had one of their techs to provide emergency repairs (free of charge) to our old HVAC so we had heat until the new unit could be installed several days later.

The day of the install, the lead tech Kyle (courteous, professional) did an outstanding job with the rest of his team during the entire process.  We received a text and email with his photo and estimated (right on time) arrival.  They expertly removed our old HVAC and installed the new one with a huge crane (they were careful and did not damage our palm trees or roof) and carefully cleaned up when finished.  Kyle also provided detailed instructions (a booklet was included) on our new thermostat.

We are very satisfied with the way Howard Air professionally resolved our HVAC issue from beginning to end. Special thanks to Scott  & Bryan (you guys Rock!), Kyle (friendly & professional) and Amber (thanks for everything!) and also the emergency tech (that guy was great and I'm embarrassed I cannot recall his name.) at Howard Air!

Prompt, courteous, technically proficient and the price was reasonable for a seasonal check on our two units in the house. Cliff did a great job and wasn't high pressure on the one item that he recommended for both units. We'll get that done in the spring.

AC Unit started to blow warm air (Not good during the AZ Summer) at my home.  Contacted Howard Air based off of yelp reviews.  Cust service representative I spoke with was pleasant. Was able to provide same day service.  The technician (Troy) was very professional and courteous.  After explaining the symptoms we were experiencing to him, he began to diagnose the issue.  Once found, he explained the cause and also went into details regarding some other problem areas he noticed with the unit.  Gave me all the options available and was upfront with the pricing (reasonable) for each option. Did not pressure me into choosing the more expensive option.  Within about 20 minutes of his arrival, the defective part was fixed and I was getting cold air coming out of my vents again!  He stayed a little longer to confirm that the temp was at optimal levels.

Very satisfied with the service!

Had a service contract with Howard Air for a couple of years and always found the technicians to be very competent, polite and efficient.  The reason I cancelled with them is because too often they would miss the appointment window - and most of the time they never called...I had to call.  I grew tired of the game-playing and didn't feel valued.  I figure they have their big jobs to grab first, but in the end, if you treat your contract customers this way, why should we be under contract?  Loyalty breeds loyalty.

I scheduled an appointment with Howard Air for an estimate on a new unit for my town home.   I was referred by a co-worker I asked for a referral after having a not-so-great experience with another company.  Being new in town and a single female can be difficult at times to get good service.  The sales consultant from Howard Air was Gary Leader and let me tell you he was TERRIFIC!  On time, clean cut, explained everything to me in detail, even when I asked 2nd grade questions, he never got impatient.  If Gary is any indication of the rest of employees at Howard Air this company is a real find. I will be calling them back when I'm ready to purchase a new unit!

The technician was late for the scheduled visit by fifteen minutes, but he was worth the wait. William did a great job showing me what was happening and then explaining how it needed to be fixed. He was clean, thorough, friendly, and professional. He also explained how we could save money by signing up for their maintenance program, which turned out to be a great deal. Thanks William Richardson for rocking your job!

Very poor customer service and rude operators :(
I've been hearing their commercials on KTAR for years talking about their customer service and on-time technicians so naturally when my air conditioner went out I called them. They came out to my house diagnose the problem Monday and said they'd be back mid to late morning the next day. It was 93 degrees in our house and we have a 13-month-old son. We stayed in a hotel overnight and my wife came back at 10:30 a.m. to wait for the technician. After hours of waiting in a hot home, Sheila called to say the tech was STILL another hour away. She was not very friendly at all.
My baby started to get sick from the Heat,  so we left and waited 3 more hours. Finally we got a call from Sheila to inform us the tech was finally there.  I was very disappointed and asked to speak to a manager. Sheila was super rude & yelled at me and told me they're all in a meeting (I've heard that before.) Sheila even had the audacity to instruct me to be respectful to the technician when he arrived.  WTF???  We let the technician in and then we left again because it was too hot to wait in the house.  The technician left several hours later but never even called us to let us know whether or not he'd fixed the problem. I would not recommend Howard air to anyone ever.

Howard Air just saved my life!  After waiting for another company to install a blower motor for 13 days in the July heat of Phoenix (with excuse after excuse), I walked into Howard Air to see if they could be of assistance.  The answer was YES! I was there on a Friday afternoon, and by Saturday the next day, I had a blower motor installed and working. No wonder Howard Air has received the BBB Award for Ethics!
Thank you Bruce and Cliff!

I've had a horrible experience from the beginning. I called them because I had poor air flow through out my vents. Finally got someone to come out (Scott) to take a look and see what the issue was. He walked around the house and pointed out I needed more vents in my house. Ok? How does that help to increase airflow? He also said I need new vent covers. He never went into the attic to see the system/air duct. He just said he will put new flex duct work up there. Again ok? How do you know if you never actually inspected the system. He quoted me about 3k to do everything. Although I was questioning his diagnosis I figured since they were a big company they knew what they were doing. I should of listened to my gut instinct. After the job completion last year we still had poor air flow. They came out twice and said everything was fine. Really? Air is barely coming out of the vents. So this recent summer my A/C unit  (brand new) stopped working. I called another company to check it out. They said that my return line and duct work was under sized so my unit over heated and shut it's self off. Ok, wtf did I just pay 3k for!!! These guys were supposed to correct all this! I just gave up on this company because it was clear they have no idea what they were doing. So unfortunately I had to pay another 3k to get it done correctly. Now I have great airflow and my unit will not over work itself. So with this company I lost 3k and excessively high electric bills. Not that they care or anything because I did give them an opportunity to correct it which they refused to do. I can not recommend this company and I wish I could give them zero stars for the amount of money I lost.

Howard Air is like dealing with a Used Car Sale Person. They will tell you everything you want to hear as they gouge you on products you don't need. The following happen with my estimates and follow up questions I had for Howard Air.
Was told I needed both my condenser pads replaced at $125 each for $250. As they weren't level and would void the warranty. I followed up in email on why they needed to replace. The sales person said because they will crack with the new system. So which was it? Actually all that needed to be done was level the new unit on the condenser pad.
I have two Nest thermostats, was told there not compatible to the Trane unit. That I would need two new thermostats at $500 each for $1,000. When I emailed the sale's person his response was it would void the warranty by Trane. I contacted Trane customer service and was told it would NOT void the warranty. The Nest are compatible for two stage A/C units. Once agin the sale person forgets the reason why he's taking advantage of you at your home estimates and follow up email question.
Howard Air wanted to charge $176, for dry wall repair for removing the trim for attic access. That insert for the attic is one piece that come's out and goes back in. But they wanted to gauge me for another $176, for something I didn't need.
I asked for a break out on the estimate for all charges, which they refused to do. They give 10 year labor warranty, which I wanted to know what that cost was.
They offer 72 months 0%interest, which is nice for $302 per month. I asked if they could take $900 off the estimate. Which they agreed at 36 months for 0% interest at $580 per month. WOW $900 less and they change the financing so greatly. Reminds you of what a Used Car Sale's Person does.
Howard Air is not there to help the customer, only to make all $$$$ they can from you the customer.
If you want a company with INTEGRITY, call someone else!

A 2nd opinion $85 diagnostic and service call from Howard Air saved me from the $1900-$3900 cost projected by another company to replace the compressor or entire unit.  Service was same day, and Joel was courteous and competent.

Service man from other company left after several hours and $260 saying it would take about 24 hours for this mid sized condo to cool down, but my tenants were questioned his competence before he even left.  Tepid air blew throughout the night cooling the place down slightly, but the unit quit entirely the next day, leaving the  family of 6 with 4 small children sweltering for several days with no AC in late July in AZ.  My prior preferred provider was booked solid for at least 10 days out and Cruz AC whom they recommended as an alternative has never yet returned one of my two
(or 3?)  calls, so I called Howard Air whom I had heard advertised on KTAR and for whom I found a small discount on the service call via Angie's.

Joel from Howard made it there within a few hours and before he left the unit was blowing COLD air and has worked fine for the months since. The service tech from the prior company had overfilled the unit with refrigerant to the extent pressure couldn't be measured. Howard's Joel bled the pressure and did some exterior cleaning on a coil left unclean and covered in among other things wretched cat hair from the tenants running the AC for at least a couple weeks with no filter.

I'm giving 5 stars with the disclaimer that this has been my first and only experience with Howard Air, but it's now (3/14/15) been nine months since the service, but thus far the experience has been nothing but blue skies and fresh (cold) - air.  Compliments and thanks to Joel of Howard Air

I will start by saying that the service from Howard Air was great.  I was able to get them to come out same day on a Sunday when my A/C broke down.  They did, however charge $142 for the trip charge.  My issue with the company is on their pricing.  It was found that the run capacitor needed to be replaced.  The part online costs under $20 and Howard air charges $218.  This price does include installation which takes less than 5 minutes.  Last time I had this part replaced it cost me close to $200 including the part and trip charge.  With Howard Air I paid $360 for the exact same service.
If you are in a pinch and need service immediately, by all means use Howard Air.  If you are able to shop around though, you will find that they are very expensive compared to other service companies.

*Same review posted on their main company profile, it appears they have two Yelp profiles*

In late JUNE (it is now August 8th) I had an AC 'elbow' structural repair job quoted, scheduled and confirmed to start this morning on a date when my roof repair guys could also start their job so that the elbow could be foamed over the day it was to be replaced.

Well, this morning I received a call stating they were going to have to cancel the job because the owner did not see enough profit margin on the job and they wanted to perform the more expense repair option they offered me which would have offered a better overall AC air flow but had a significantly higher cost... They had weeks to figure this out to give me a heads up so that other arrangements could have been made prior to getting my roofers out here for no reason. It is also concerning they would approve and schedule this job weeks ago to begin with if the owner would eventually 'turn it down' the day the job was to begin.

I even offered to pay Howard Air $300 extra to do the job that was quoted and scheduled which would be on top of the 400 originally quoted so they could make more 'profit' because time is of the essence and I had my roof guys on site.

I've contracted many jobs on my home and have never had an experience like this come up which is why i created Yelp account to write my first ever review. I'm sure this situation is an outlier for Howard Air but it is flat out ridiculous for them to do this to me and go back on their confirmed and scheduled job in the early morning on the job start date, especially when it involved another roof company to co-coordinate a start date.

Again, they had multiple weeks to figure this out and should be eating any cost on this one since it is 100% on them, they quoted a job and I accepted. My roof guy even talked with them yesterday evening to confirm that we were still good to start this morning for which they said, yes.

Thankfully, my roofer is a very good guy and has told me not to worry about it and we'll re-schedule the whole deal once we figure out the AC repair- He even had his guys on my roof pre-prepping and cleaning the roof so it could be foamed for around 2 hours. If you're in the market for foam roof repair i HIGHLY recommend you call Frans at Ultra Foam.

Howard Air is sending a consultant out this afternoon to re-quote the job but based on principle I highly doubt I'll consider their service, unless they compensate me in price for this whole situation. I'm also still debating whether to write a BBB review based on this experience.

To conclude, if you choose to test your luck with Howard Air, I'd recommend checking in daily prior to your job start date if the actually start date must be meet as they may flake on you too.

-Shane

About a month ago, I posted a review saying how pleased I was with the installation of 2 new Trane AC units by Howard Air, who I had contacted after hearing an ad on 960 AM The Patriot on Salem Radio.  I just received my latest APS bill.  Same 33-day billing period as last year, a touch cooler (90° this year versus 93° last year), same thermostat settings, but thanks to a two-stage condenser unit and a variable speed blower motor, my APS bill dropped from $495 to $366, that's 26%.  Thanks Trane and Howard Air.

I received a bid from Howard Air and 3 other HVAC companies on replacement of 2 systems for my newly purchased home.  They were the only company to recommend solely single-stage units, indicating that two-stage units would not work for my home.  I could find no evidence that two-stage units would not work for my home.  I assume that this was a sales tactic to make me think that they were the only company not trying to up-sell and/or one based on a monetary benefit they would receive by selling single-stage over two-stage units.  Thus, if you receive the similar information, I encourage you to seek other opinions.

I had arranged for a service tech to come to the house to resolve a problem with our heat pump.  We scheduled for the 12-4pm window, and I was told that the tech would give me a call before coming.  Around 3:15 PM, I started getting nervous as I had not heard anything yet and it was nearing the end of the appt window, so I called the office.  I was told that the tech was on a call, and had 1 other appt before mine.  No ETA.  So I went home from work, expecting to see the tech sometime before I had to leave again for a 6pm soccer practice.  Of course, no tech and no call.  Sometime after 6PM, I did get a call from the office to let me know that the tech would still be over sometime later that night.  I explained that I was no longer at home so we'd have to reschedule.  I requested a first thing in the AM time slot as I could not afford to waste another day waiting for the tech, but the office told me that only 10-2PM was available on the requested day.  I declined and will find another HVAC contractor.  Look, I get that appts sometimes run over, and I did appreciate the call.  But when you inconvenience a long-term customer and don't fix the problem, isn't it just good customer service to make an extra effort to make things right?  Not with Howard Air, apparently :(

AC unit was not working. I had some guys from Howard air come check it out. First it was wiring, then later it was found to be the motor. Took a while to figure out the problem, but when they figured it out it was fixed that same day and the AC works great now. I was overcharged, but when they realized the mistake they refunded the difference the same day. Overall I was pleased with the staff and how they really seem to care about their customers.

AC broke down on a Sunday and I called Howard Air. They arrived with 90 minutes and were able to identify the issue. Since my AC was 18 years old I could not see investing any money into it. Monday morning a salesman from Howard's was at my house and 8am and I purchased a new Trane system. Howard's has a temp cool program so once I purchased the system they work to get my AC working at their cost until my install date, the money spent for them to come out on Sunday was put to the new AC. On Thursday the same week Howard's installed my new AC and did a perfect and exceptional job. I will never go anywhere else. You may pay less elsewhere but you get what you pay for and Howard's delivers on every point.. hard to find businesses like this these days.. kudos Howard's

We recently purchased a home that was 14 years old, one of our AC units went out and we knew the other one was most likely right behind it.  We got quotes from 7 different local HVAC companies and decided that we wanted to go with Trane due to past experiences with their products.  We chose Howard air by looking over reviews and because of the sales person that came out.  No pressure, no gimmicky car salesmen stuff that we got from a few of the other companies.  They did a load calculation on our home and set us up with amazing equipment and a great price.  The install team was right on time, very polite and worked fast, they had both units replaced in one day.   We love the new equipment, had to replace our nest thermostats with the Trane versions which was sad, but the rest we love :)

I've used Howard Air for a few years now. They helped when I was having numerous issues with the original install company from Tempe and now service my system. I've lived in Phoenix for 50 years and Howard Air's Call Center and Techs are by far the most knowledgeable and  honest people I've used.
My favorite tech is Wayne, but you can't go wrong with any of them. I've had a little experience with their Install Department and follow-up was a bit weak, but I will use them when I'm ready for a new system.

I am a new homeowner and on Saturday my air conditioner broke down. I left a message on the website and asked for a call on Monday morning. I waited until after 3 and called them. I spoke with Justin who read the note I sent 48 hours earlier but was unable to schedule me or discuss anything because he was unable to figure out how to get the scheduling program up. I asked to speak with his supervisor who Justin identified as Howard. Bill answered the telephone and said he would investigateand call me back.  Since I have little faith in anyones ability to use the telephone, I said I would wait. I asked for the owners name and was told the owner was Kecin Howard. Apparently this is a family business with little accountability to a customer. Do yoirself a favor and call a company who is interested in customer service, this company is not!
Maybe Daddy needs to buy another company for you, junior.

My parents hired Howard Air based on a friend's recommendation when they needed to replace their air-conditioner two years ago. Since then, the brand new unit they bought from Howard Air was replaced last summer after it died 4 times. Today, when my siblings and I were planning to go to my parents' house for Father's Day, my mom called and said the brand new unit they purchased less than a year ago died.  My Dad called Howard Air twice today and no one returned his call. He was finally able to get ahold of a manager and was told someone will show up around 6 pm to take a look. Based on my parents' experience and when I met the a/c technician from last year's fiasco, I think Howard Air is a clown operation. I'm so furious about this situation because my parents are in their 80s. This is the SECOND a/c unit Howard Air sold to my parents in two years, yet it's crapped out again on the first hottest day in Phoenix. Don't hire this company. Their customer service is deplorable and their technicians are poorly trained and only specialize in Band-Aid repairs.

My house is finally cool. I had 4 different companies that either claimed they couldn't fix my unit and/or wanted to rip me off. This was the first company that gave me options for repair or replace. As well, they gave me options for replacement instead of trying to sell me the most expensive unit out there as the other companies did. I consulted with Scott Bird on a new unit. He was very professional and more importantly very honest. When my unit was replaced the guys covered my stone and wood floors before they started their work. After the unit was installed I couldn't even tell they had been in my home. Thanks Howard Air.

This was my first experience with Howard Air.  I contacted them for an AC replacement quote. At first everything was great and the sales rep was very friendly, professional and informative. It wasn't until I made it known that I was also getting a quote from another company that things changed.  It was pretty evident they were done dealing with me after they found out I was considering other offers. It's really too bad things didn't work out. I won't be contacting them again.

I would like to start out and say Ted was one heck of a sales man but as soon as i signed a contract it went down hill from there He told me he would be there on the install day to make sure everything went well and he was not. I looked passed this and just wanted my new ac unit which i found out later i over paid for by allot installed and working like we agreed. I even paid for a extra duct to be installed in my office where i work everyday to make sure it stayed cool it took Howard air a total of 4 times of coming out before they installed the new vent that should've been installed when they put my new AC unit on but every tech had there own opinion of why i didn't need it or they were lazy and didn't wanna install it. So after the new vent was installed it was installed right next to my downstair vent and now the downstairs is not cooling properly they thought it was the thermostat and replaced that and then installed a deflector which helped a little but still isn't right. About one month after my unit was installed when it starts up it makes a loud clunk so loud my dogs bark this is a 10k dual stage unit i shouldn't be having issues on a month after its installed. They damaged my brand new hardwood floors which they did pay to fix.Howard air did offer a free air purifier and new vents to try to help with the air flow in the house which was very nice of them but working with them became a full time job even my neighbors said to me well i know what  Ac company i won't be going with just by seeing there service vehicles at my house once a week. If i didn't work from home i don't know how anyone could have worked with howard air I decided to get my new unit before summer hit and it pretty much took them all summer to get things some what straightened out but still I'm not happy and would never recommend them to anyone after the experience i had I was overcharged for the unit and the quality of service and frequency of service calls i had to schedule.

July 12 about 8 pm are A/C would not turn back on and the house is heating up. We heard about Howard Air on KTAR Radio last spring and had them out for maintenance on our A/C unit. I was happy to see they have a 24-hour service. I gave them a call tonight and in about and hour Yubani was at our door.  Yubani was polite and explained why the unit would not turn back on. Yubani took care of our problem and our unit is up and running again. Thank you!

Used Howard Air through Angie's List promotion. They came out, did an inspection, and came back to get my A.C. unit up to par even though it's 10 years past it's general life span. Explained to me everything that was wrong with it and were willing to fix the most important issues for a reasonable price.

Replacing a whole unit ceiling fan can sometimes be very difficult especially when you have to remove the housing. This was the case for my bathroom exhaust ceiling fan, but Diego stepped up to the plate and did a terrific job, he had to get into the attic to complete the job and it was more difficult than anticipated but Diego did a wonderful job. I will request Diego again when I need more work from Howard Air. I have used Howard air in the past and I've always been happy with their service .

We had 2 new AC units put in back In March and Howard Air was amazing, fast and affordable! We had a leak coming through one of the units from the roof and they came out so fast to fix it! Every time I've ever called them with questions or concerns- they've all been just amazing and caring!!! I definitely recommend them to anyone in need of a new AC Unit or just a repair!! Thank you Howard Air!!!

BUYER BEWARE!!!!  In 2003 Howard Air installed an  A/C unit on a remodel of my home.  The condenser broke down within warranty period and they installed a unit built in 1999.  The owner tried to make me believe that this is standard practice.  In speaking to REPUTABLE companies in town I learned that this is ONLY STANDARD practice for this company.  Since A/C units aren't inexpensive I'd do my homework before deciding to use a company that isn't honest and has ZERO integrity.

As usual, Howard Air completed my semi-annual HVAC checkup with professionalism! Two years ago, they installed two new HVAC systems in my home, and I could not be more pleased with their professionalism, courtesy, knowledge and work ethic. I would definitely recommend them for repairs and new installations.

My service today was outstanding. They friendly and honest and told me the bare bones if my a/c problems and offered ideas and different solutions for me to choose from. I would call them again anytime I need heating and air service. Thank you Bryan. Medel. I am grateful for the excellent customer service!

Yes, you do get what you pay for!  But in some cases you can get the same product(that you sell)for much much cheaper!  Your company happens to be one of those cases.  Smart people do research and find a better price.  Your profit margin is way too high! You can find some of the same ac units you sell for much cheaper.

Howard Air came out to fix an A/C problem we had in our rental home. Our property management company sent them out. I found them to be very unresponsive when I would call or they would tell me they would call me back. Usually a week went by before I had to eventually call them again to find out what was going on. I think they came out 4 different times before they actually fixed the problem, and it took over a month from the time I requested the repair. One of the times they scheduled to come out, they said they would be there at 7a, they didn't ever show up and called my husband at 2p to ask if they could come then, but he had already went to work for the day, so they said they would call to reschedule and never did. We had to call them again to reschedule. The only reason I give them a 2 star instead of a 1 is because I think they actually fixed the problem this time. finally!

I heard about Howard Air from the five million radio commercials on KTAR, so when I wanted an AC tune-up before the summer months, their name was in my head (effective advertising, haha). Anyway, I submitted the online request form and was emailed back almost immediately to schedule an appointment. Scheduling was INCREDIBLY easy, and the customer service person was very friendly. They were able to schedule a service for me on the day that I requested, which is nice because I've used other service companies for other things in the past and sometimes you have to schedule like a month out (which is super annoying). On the day of the service, the guy called me 20 minutes before getting to my house to give me a heads up that he was on his way (suuuper appreciated that because I have dogs and need to get them settled before someone comes over). They had given me a time slot of 10am-3pm, and the guy ended up getting to my house about 10:15 or 10:30 (also really appreciated that- I hate wasting my day waiting around for 5 hours at home). The guy was respectful of my home, and didn't make a bunch of noise to upset the dogs. He was exceptionally friendly, and explained the service to me so that I could understand it. It was only $99, and he was able to use a credit card thing on his phone (I appreciated this because I hate writing checks only to have them sit in limbo for days and days). I was very happy with my service, and I will be using Howard Air again for my AC.

I would give zero stars if I could!  They put in a brand new trane air conditioning unit on our property in 2016.  It broke down the first day!  They told us it was a faulty motherboard.  In December of the same year it broke down again they said this time the thermostat was faulty.  Now it has broken down again, not turning on at all!  When I called to let them know this was unacceptable they said our warranty was expired and would be $88 service call.  I spoke with the service manager.  He didn't seem to think that it was abnormal that a $6000 trance air conditioner has broken down 3 times in a year!  He said technically after a year it is not there product to worry about anymore!  He did offer to send out a technician for free but why would I trust them to fix their own faulty products!  I would rather pay someone else to tell us the truth about it and fix it properly.  Poor customer service and products!!!!!!!!!!!

Wayne from Howard Air is exceptional. Super professional and never tries to sell you things you don't need. He came in, put on shoe covers, was really friendly, fixed the problem and left. Done! And btw, I made an appointment online the night before and they were at my home the very next day. Excellent customer service!!!! HIGHLY recommend.

Had a gentleman do the annual service on my AC all the way out in Buckeye and then a couple weeks later it broke down. Peter came out and replaced the part without charging me a service fee. They stand by their work and their word.

Howard Air was so surprising and unexpected I had to write this review. I had another company come do a pre summer inspection on my working air conditioner. At the end of inspection the technician told me the unit was old ( which I agree ) but there were  a few things I could do to make it run better. He gave me four options ranging from 300.00 and up. ( almost like a buying a car, so much fun) because I have had no problem with it I took the cheapest route a fan voltage regulator. They installed collected $298.00 and left for Memorial weekend. From the time they left it didn't work right no air being pushed. I called them back they sent someone over he left, still not working. I call back they sent a different technician I explained to him that it was working fine before they installed part maybe should check. He came down told me nothing was wrong with their work the conditioner needed to be replaced. ( funny right ). So I decided second opinion was needed I looked up on Yelp read reviews decided on Howard's. Gave them a call the very nice receptionist ( sorry if your more, no disrespect) said they would send someone at NO cost to check it out. A man with a very big smile named Julio came out with another technician forgot his name ( shame on me) went up on the roof 1/2 hr later it was fixed. The first company wired it backwards so no pushing air just sucking, guess what I don't need a new one yet! Waited for bill and there wasn't one. They sent me pictures to help me get my money back from the company who's motto is honesty-integrity-reliability really now.
So please, support this fine company they went way beyond what would be considered good business. When I need a new air conditioner which I know is coming they are my first and only call.

Beware: they will take advantage of you and overcharge you!  My wife and I were out of town when my 18 year old son and 13 year old called and told us the air went out. A good friend kindly got on the phone and helped arrange for Howard's to show up. I received a call from their tech telling me that the fan went out and that it would be over $900 to fix, but if I paid $400 more to have the rest of our system serviced, he'd give me 10% off the fan motor. Because I was out of town and my kids needed air, I approved the fan, but not the upsell (I had no idea what a fan motor should cost at the time and trusted them to be fair). When I returned home and got the invoice, I looked up the cost of the part they replaced and found that the part should have only been around $200 at the most, so they charged over $700 in labor for less than 3 hours of work. After talking to the very unhelpful girl there, Kianna, I quickly realized they could care less about taking advantage of people. Her words were: you ok'd the rate on the phone, we aren't the cheapest, and that has been our rate for 5 years. Considering they robbed another guy who posted on yelp by charging him $800 for his fan motor, it's obvious she's a liar and they are thieves. If you don't mind being taken advantage of, definitely use them. I've already had the privilege of sharing how bad they are with several friends and will continue to shed light on their shady practices. To Howard's: I hope the extra $300-$400 was worth the negative advertising I'm providing for you.

The service department is great , they get 5 stars in my book . The 2 star rating  is for the installing crew . Bait and switch is the best way to explain what I experienced . Professional salesman gave me a quote ,but on December 18 2015 , the 2 men that installed my new unit were sloppy , rushed the whole time , left loose ends , and the unit quit working the next day .   A service tech did come by the next day and got the unit running again .After looking at the unit on my roof and in the attic, it looked like the installers just gave up and left . After calling 3 times to find out when someone would be coming back to finish the job , it took 48 days for a tech to come by and complete the loose ends. The service department is great and will continue using them ,but unfortunately this installing crew is their weak link .

This company is the best. We were in Phoenix at our daughters home and noticed that her AC wasn't working very well. After trying two other companies that got great Yelp reviews but disappointed, my husband found Howard Air. Did we ever get lucky. Every person we dealt with was professional, courteous and responsive. Our salesperson Steve was the nicest guy sales guy you will ever meet - genuine, caring, very knowledgable and not pushy. The installers were also extremely respectful. In addition to all of this, a 10 year warranty on everything - parts, labor, what's not to like.

We had one of the worst experiences with Howard Air today! The Assistant Service Manager, Travis, denied my family (husband & 2 kids) service after I called  to complain to him about a faulty service qoute.
When we initially called Howard Air, as a new customer, they quoted us 98 dlrs for a 44 point inspection on our units. We thought,  wow what a great deal most places charge you per unit. So when the Tech, Bryan, arrived he asked with a surprised tone, You have two units not just one? We stated, yes 2 units. He said from the get - go, you know it's 98 dlrs per unit, right? We were surprised ourselves to hear that but we told him to come on in anyway because the service is needed and we'll deal with the office and whomever we spoke to when we set up the appointment.  So while Bryan checked our unit I spoke with Travis to tell him we were misinformed by his appointment rep and were never asked how many units we had or told the price would double or triple depending on the number of units. We assumed that wasn't a factor and that it was a flat rate quote. We asked him if their was anything he could on the price since we were not prepared to pay 98×2. Travis responded with we have a 16 point check for 65, we can do that for the second unit but the one will be 98. I responded with that's not fair to me as a customer to have a 44 check on one and not the other. Your not really offering me a deal. He said let me check our system to find out who you spoke with. He then stated I can't find who you spoke with, do you remember? We said no. But what Travis didn't know was that the receptionist had told us, Oh, looks like you spoke with our service manager I'll just transfer you to him. So that's how we ended up speaking with him concerning the cost.
Anyway, he counters with we can go ahead and do the 44 pt check on your second unit for 65. I said really, what's a savings of 15 dlrs? Why wouldn't you offer 65 dlrs per unit for the 44 pt check? Would it be too much for your company to loose 30 bucks for the sake of retaining a new customer? He said well why dont I wait for Bryan to call me with the condition of your units and we can work something out afterwards. I said, fair enough.
Bryan worked on our units for about 15 to 20 minutes after my call with Travis and then packed his stuff up, when out to his vehicle to put the equipment away and knocked on our front door calling Mr. Martinez. Bryan spoke to my husband stating, my Boss called to let me know I was to clean up and part my ways with you. We will not be doing business with you from this point forward. I will send you an invoice of my finding and you will not be charged for the service check today. I'm only the middle men but in all my years I've never experienced the company turning a customer away, I thought you did your research?

Our family was in disbelief that Travis made this type of call when we were simply asking for a break because of their error (not being upfront with their prices). But we did feel it was a blessing to not work with a dishonest, egotistical company!

This all happened between 10am & noon. By 9pm, the same day, one of our units died on us...now we're left to wonder if something was done purposely to it by Howard Air.

have to laugh at some of these negative reviews. A HVAC company coming out at the crack of dawn is a problem!!! Yeah call Sears! You'll get a date no time. For heaven's sake. Sounds like they are negative people to begin with. This company has been around a while and they know what they are doing. Thank you for your great service. You are appreciated!!

I just had Howard Air install a new unit and duct work in my 50+ yr old house. Everyone at Howard Air was great to deal with and I couldn't have imagined the job going any better. My sales representative, Brian, did a thorough evaluation of my home and explained everything needed. He always was available by phone or email when I had questions, which is appreciated with such an investment. The install crew was just amazing. They worked non-stop all day. They were friendly, polite, respectful and clean. You couldn't even tell where they had been working when they left. The job went so well - there is honestly nothing more I could have hoped for. I am so pleased I went with Howard Air and will definitely recommend them to anyone.

I had never used Howard Air before and looked them up on Angies List.  They received an A rating and I can see why.  The technician was professional, kind and well informed.  He spent a great deal of time assessing the problem and not only took care of everything but went the extra mile.   He spent time to educate me on setting my thermostat so that it runs more efficiently and will certainly reflect in my electricity bill.  This is the BEST experience i have ever had starting with the person making the appointment to the service tech.  OUTSTANDING!!!!!!

For years, I dealt with a small family-owned air conditioning business. It eventually went out of business. After trying several other companies, I turned to Howard Air.

Just talking to them on the phone, I realized they were quite competent. There was no pressure to buy anything. And their technicians were very courteous.

In July 2011, I was preparing for a trip to Boston when my air conditioner fan started shrieking. I was on a very tight schedule, but Howard Air accommodated me. Howard got the fan fixed for a decent price, and I made my flight.

This is an industry with a less-than-sterling reputation. But Howard Air is first-rate.

Service was probably acceptable. Who knows until it breaks again. But the service men were rude, the HOA got complaints about the noise and one of the men was apparently rude to a complaining neighbor. Wasn't worth the hassle, frankly.

Michael showed up right on time and was extremely courteous and knowledgeable. He did a great job with my AC tune-up and gave me a detailed list of options to optimize my system's performance. He also installed and set up a new digital thermostat that I had purchased. I couldn't be happier with Michael and Howard Air, and I will definitely use them again and highly recommend them.
