Once AGAIN over the past FIVE years or so I have reached out Heartwood Tree Care to help me with my two Eucalyptus Trees o Widow Killers as they are called in the business! And Once again, time and time, they DELIVER. Gave them a call about three weeks ago for a visit and estimate and DAKOTA shows up recognizing my trees and knowing exactly what my issues are and now to resolve. We had a short chat and also spoke about the Company and how well it treats its customers and employees. Dakota loves working and Heartwood and speaks GLOWLINGLY about Howard a Great Employer too! In a few days I hear back from Brittani in the office giving me some choices of dates and time. She was very flexible and worked around my busy week to my total satisfaction. In fact, I had to call her back due to a last minute glitch in my schedule and she accommodated. I can tell you...THAT DOES NOT HAPPEN WITH THE COMPETITION!! It doesnt!

Day of Tree Trimming AND IT IS RAINING.A CRAPY DAY and I am thinking they are going to reschedule...NO WAY! They are here early getting ready, creating their strategy given the rain and wet grounds and OFF THEY GO in trimming & thinning my trees TO MY UTMOST SATISFACTION. ONCE AGAIN, THEY NEVER DISAPPOINT!!! MY TREES LOOK GREAT! These guys are seriously a cut above the rest--took us three other companies before we found Heartwood, and these are the only folks we call and recommend.

The owner is probably the most educated and informed arborist you'll come across, and he has clearly passed that knowledge down to the rest of the team. Dakota in particular is really incredible: he's been out to our property a handful of times, and on top of being such a pleasant guy to talk to, he's an absolute wealth of knowledge--which he shares even when he's just over to give a free quote. He's helped us identify, save, and keep alive a slew of plants as we do NOT have green thumbs ourselves, as well as gave us the only solution that worked for getting rid of a seemingly-invincible sissoo...also a shoutout to Kelly for helping with that one.

The fact that these guys are not only so good at what they do, but also care enough to help even if they determine no work needs to be done (unlike every other arborist we've dealt with, who charge for quotes and nickel-and-dime you for any scrap of information), is just such a rare thing to find these days. They're good people and they've been lifesavers for us, so hopefully they'll be the same for you.

We have (had) a Sweet Acacia tree that has been slowly dying. It's been leaning little by little, more and more. We were afraid of it falling and maybe hurting someone if they were walking by.
I researched several companies, got three quotes and decided to go with Heartwood due to price, timing, prior reviews and the young man who originally came to give the quote. Very informative and personable.
They showed up this morning On Time! Wow, that was nice. They were very mindful of the surrounding bushes and cactus and didn't hit the water line. They took the tree piece by piece, ground down the large stump, blew out debris, swept the walkway and left things as clean as possible.
My mom even offered an extra tip and he wouldn't accept it. We did give them a tray of brownies and that was alright. Lol
Very professional company. I highly recommend them. They also do other tree services as their website probably explains more in detail.

I really want to give the company 5 stars, but I couldn't. We had a pine tree removed in our backyard and we had gone back and forth with issues with APS (my tree was near a power line that APS needed to trim away from the power line) and I appreciated their flexibility with that. When we finally got that settled, and the day for the removal came, I was told a time frame 7AM-8AM. I had to reach out at 8 when they hadn't shown up. I was told the new time frame was 930AM-1030AM. They hadn't shown up at 1030AM so I ended up just leaving my house because at that point I had waited for almost 4 hours for them to arrive. When I came home around 2PM the tree was gone (and they did a good job at the removal and cleanup). I never got a call or message when they came or left and I thought that was unprofessional. I had to reach out and ask even how I was supposed to pay. So, maybe I'm naive of the process or this was just a bad day for them, but it did throw me off since they had been good up until then.

They prioritized storm work to get trees off houses. Were able to fit us in next day. The owner came out to give us the estimate and his crew executed the job perfectly. Definite the company you want to go with when you want the job done right. They were able to take the tree off the house without damaging anything.

Our neighbors very large cactus fell over into our yard. It took out two sections of our block wall and hit the patio covering. A portion of the cactus landed on top of our patio and shifted the posts. We needed the weight to be removed quickly as we did not want it to create more damage. I called or texted 4 different companies. Heartwood was the only one who got back to me quickly. The were able to move around a few jobs and were out on the job site within a few hours. We were very satisfied with their services. We are relieved the cactus is gone and we don't have to worry about the weight causing more damage. The price seemed fair when considering it was an emergency type situation.

Requested a quote through yelp. Immediately received a computer generated response that they prefer to come out in person to provide quotes for tree trimming. After providing my contact information, as requested, I was advised I would be receiving a call to schedule an appointment. A week later, still no response. Rating based on my experience with customer service, or lack there of, alone. Cannot vouch for their workmanship.

Got a quote for removing a 35' tree. They answered and called me right away and were polite. But basically told me they don't usually come up to Cave Creek and it would cost $1500 just to come out. They admitted I'd probably be better off with someone else. I agreed but honestly their website shows they come up to Cave Creek otherwise I wouldn't have bothered. Got someone else to do the job for half the price and they did a great job. Heartwood responds quickly and seems professional but they maybe need to fix their website on where they are willing to go or use an asterisk for the outer boundaries such as *extra charge for these areas.

Howard and his crew are incredibly knowledgeable and educated on how to handle our hedges, citrus, and trees. I wanted a company that would take the time to do natural looking trimming and Howard's crew delivered beautiful trims. They showed up on time and, when the job took longer than expected, sent another crew over the weekend. Throughout the trimming process, they checked in to make sure that it met my vision and took any tweaks in stride and were happy to help.

Beyond all that, they cleaned up after themselves and it looked like no one had been on site!

This is my first experience hiring tree trimmers and I had major sticker shock at the pricing but you're paying for experienced arborists who will do the job right and very detailed, transparent line item pricing so you know what you're paying for and can add/pull back on items as your budget allows. And, in AZ, I wasn't willing to risk going with a landscaper who would take a chainsaw and potentially damage critical greenery that gives us shade.

Hardwood tree service did a great job called them one day they were there the next morning to grind the stump the two guys that came we're very personable and cleaned up like they were never there and the price was very reasonable. Dakota was so great and really educated my husband and I on how to care for our palms and citrus trees after we'd noticed some problems. AMAZING!!!!

Had these guys out to trim 4 palm trees, one mesquite tree, and grind a large eucalyptus stump down. From the very first interaction it was amazing! Howard (owner) was the one who showed up to do the quote. His knowledge and communication were top notch. He is the type of guy you want at your backyard BBQ.

Bittani (office manager) is super helpful and her communication is the best I have ever worked with. She was great even while I was modifying the work order 1,000 times and called me the morning of my appointment to let me know of a possible arrival time issue due to two workers being sick (they still arrived in the hour window the quoted me).

The crew was above amazing. The guys (three of them) were top notch. Their communication, service, and work ethic/quality was someone the best I have ever had the pleasure of working with. Along with that they were great to chat with and they were also awesome interacting with my 1 year old son.

Hire them, you will not be disappointed!

Despite a mix up on the day scheduled, Brittani called me and got things back on track a few days after. The crew arrived and walked my job with me and I indicated that I wanted them to really take care of my cactus and succulents under two large trees they were trimming. Well every tree trimmer in my life has been all no problem but once in the tree care little about where stuff drops. To be honest I know how hard it is but I go out of my way to stress that point. Heartwood took their time and my plants took virtually zero damage from the work. For this reason alone they will get my next call.

Otherwise the crew was awesome, great communicators, checked in before leaving one of my massive trees and did great at clean up. Their cuts most importantly were well decided and very clean. They left great structure in the trees and they look natural. True professionals.

Lastly I really enjoyed the arborist who initially came out for the estimate. He had great suggestions and was a pleasure to talk to and shared his knowledge freely.

From start to finish, Howard and his crew did a professional and thorough job. He explained everything that he was going to do and followed through exactly. We were sent reminders of our appointment and they showed up early to do the job, which was great. They answered all our questions and were very knowledgeable.

We ended up having to have 3 beautiful Mexican fan palms taken out because of the placement in our backyard. Thirty years ago when they were planted, it was a good idea. But now, they were causing damage to the pool structure and to the wall between us and our neighbor. I was sad to see them go and hear of the birds that got displaced, but it had to be done.

Howard and crew were careful to do minimal damage to existing landscaping and cleaned up best they could. The only bad thing was the state of the pool when they left. The debris, sawdust and stones that got knocked in turned the pool a very dark green and made it difficult to clean. But alas, we did it!

We opted to leave the tree stumps and plan on putting some beautiful new bushes in that area. If you are looking for a certified arborist who will talk to you about your bid, Howard is your man. He is honest, reliable and did a great job.

Wow! I got a price from these guys on trimming my trees and I thought I was putting a down payment on a new car. I shopped around for five minutes and found somebody for less than half of what these guys were charging. The job was absolutely satisfactory. I don't like seeing people get ripped off therefore I left this posting.

Had a huge tree fall in our backyard, roots uplifted a big section of our deck and it was a big mess, Heartwood was able to send a rep out the same day I called them to give an estimate, they were able to complete the work 4 days later while other companies had a wait time of a week or longer, the main crew member was very knowledgeable and gave me some great advice on other trees I have, the crew was extremely efficient and had the job done in about 3 hours while being very careful so as not to cause further damage, they were all very friendly, I would highly recommend them!

Jake came to my house I think Nov 2018 to give me a bid on about $2900 worth of tree removal and trimming, including a huge sumac, that one large branch had fallen on my house and broke my block wall. I wanted the entire sumac removed and stump ground.

Jake was soooooo passionate about his work, and so upbeat and cheerful. Jake gave me a written proposal right away to my email. He also gave me a list of plants for my future landscaping project.

There was another 5 Yelp star bidder who gave me a much better price llike $2200 vs Jake's $2900, but I liked Jake so much. Heartwood later came down close enough to the other bidder's price, so I went with Heartland.

But my life was full of traveling and events. I did not call them to come do the job till 5 months later, when I was going to leave for Dubai flying from San Diego (cos it was $500 cheaper than from Phx). I waited till Heartwood came to do the extensive tree trimming at my house, I think March 27, then I left to go to San Diego.

Jake was not there the day of the trimming, but the crew did such a terrific job, beyond my conception and ideal. And the stumps were ground so that I could not tell that trees were ever there. They charged more for grinding the sumac stump, because the wood is so hard.

They cleaned up really good, the only thing that they left, was one of the worker's drink cup, on the brick paving in my backyard. One part of the sumac grew a thicket of suckers 4-6 months later. I had a gardener cut the wood down.

I used to use Design Tree Maintenance for years, but I had an argument with Nick, about three years ago, over trees that he charged me for feeding per tree, when some were actually so dead that the roots were all rotten and when you push on the trunk, it just fell over, cos the roots had rotted, so dead it was.

I like Heartland much better, and highly recommend this company to anyone.

I was very impressed by the whole process , from calling for a quote, getting the quote, to scheduling, and the actual job itself. It was all a great experience. They did a fantastic job removing 2 pine tree's, clean up was done very well. Our property was left looking better than it did when they arrived. Update 1:
They showed up on time for the scheduled date. The team setup and tackled the trees. It took about 6 hours to finish 4 of the 5 trees. They left the tree with the most work for later since it was getting late and not a lot of daylight left. They did a good job on the cleanup of the tree leaves.

Brittani called immediately and scheduled a follow up for the last tree.

Overall, it was a good experience. Did not know how much work goes into trimming these big trees until I saw them work on them, it is a lot of work. Waiting for the final one to get trimmed.

Wonderful process from start to finish. We had a couple trees we wanted to have removed. One of them was a sisso and I've heard horror stories about saplings popping up after removal so I wanted to make sure whoever we selected was knowledgeable about this specific tree.

Howard came by and gave us an estimate and we knew immediately that Heartwood was the company that we would go with based on Howard's knowledge of trees as well as his customer service. He even spent time socializing with our new puppy to get her used to strangers around the house. I mean, if that isn't customer service, I don't know what is. When it came time to do the removal, Kelly, Casey, and Dakota showed up on time and were equally as nice. I was worried about a couple of birds nests in the tree and the crew was so wonderful and even offered to move the nest to a neighboring tree. We also asked them for a few slices of our tree trunk to use as a future craft project and they were happy to do that for us as well.

After the job was done, they cleaned up the yard of all the debris, treated the stump (part of the process to kill an invasive tree like the sisso) and made sure it was covered with a bag so our puppy wouldn't touch the chemicals. After a month, they came back and ground the stump and completed the removal.

Again, just an amazing company that we couldn't recommend more. Oh and they were always conscious about wearing masks which was truly appreciated since we have immunocompromised people in our family.

Heartwood tree care is an outstanding company. They dropped off free wood chips to my home. There was a small miscommunication with where the chips were to be dropped. We moved into a new home and had quite a lot of overgrown trees from poorly done maintenance by prior residents. The trees had not been trimmed or maintained meaningfully in 5-10 years. The overgrowth was extensive and was damaging the structures on the property.

Heartwood came and was truly professional in every way. They did an estimate first, providing extensive images as part of the estimate/record of what needed trimming, talked with me at length about what was needed and what we could hold back on for now, and gave us an idea of an overall plan and timeline for how we could perform long-term maintenance to keep the work that would be done lasting longer.

Everything was done electronically, from quote, to photos that go with the quote, to payment. Easy! I also loved that they are insured and EMPLOY people (not 1099's or illegal workers) to do the work. Everyone is properly trained.

When the day arrived to do the work, they were on-time, prepared, and organized! I peeked out periodically to watch the process and it was done in a very efficient manner. They removed a tremendous amount of debris and left the yard clean when they were through.

Afterward they went through everything with me on what was done, what problems they discovered, how they solved it, etc.

Our estimate was exactly what was charged. They also offer discounts to military, teachers, and for paying cash/check, just FYI. A nice touch.

I would use them again in a heartbeat should I need work done.

I sent photos of stuff oozing out of the trunk of my grapefruit tree and the arborist emailed me an estimate and did a phone call with me explaining what was wrong (gummosis) and what to do about it. I couldn't afford to have him do the work and he was totally fine with that and explained exactly what needed to be done. SO NICE! Truly great service. If I ever need work done on a tree I would definitely call Heartwood! Super helpful and didn't charge me for that. Thank you!

I found Heartwood through Yelp and decided to give them a try based on all the five star reviews. I had a huge Willow Acacia that was leaning toward my house and was concerned the weight of the branches would eventually cause an issue (especially during the next monsoon season). The owner Harold and his crew came out for a simple tree trim and immediately realized I had a bigger issue: the tree was actually lifting out of the ground. It turned into a full on tree removal.

Everyone was awesome about the situation. They extended their work day to fit in the change and got to work removing this massive tree. They were so professional and you could tell they knew exactly what they were doing. I was never once worried about my property. Even while they were grinding down the stump, they built a plywood wall around the area to avoid having debris fly toward the house (especially appreciated since I just had new sliding glass doors installed two days prior). The whole crew was an absolute pleasure to work with!!! I will use them again and will refer them to anyone who needs their services.

Friday night a storm took down a large portion of a 70 ft +/- pine tree that is in our front yard with part of it close to our house. Called Heartwood on Saturday and the owner Howard was out here Sunday to assess the situation and provide an estimate. What I appreciated about Howard was that he was taking care of other customers and contacting me throughout the day to let me know that he was still coming once he finished with his other customers. He was my third tree company who responded and provided estimates. Heartwood was extremely competitive in price, but what really sold us was his professionalism and honest assessment of our situation. He had his crew and a crane here the next day (today) and made a complicated removal look easy. What an efficient group of professionals that I would definitely use again and recommend. PS - Brittani who answered the phone was also wonderful.

This company may be ok if you can ever get them come out. They cancelled my appointment not once but twice at the last minute. I rearrange my schedule twice to accommodate their appointments. This last time they were supposed to arrive between 1:30 and 2:30. They called at 2:00 to tell me they couldn't make it and wanted to reschedule a 3rd time. I understand emergencies arrive which is why I agreed to reschedule the first time. After being inconvenienced once they should have done everything their power to ensure I was not inconvenienced again. My time is valuable too.

Very fair prices, out of many bids they were the lowest and not only that, I felt the most confidence in them compared to any other arborists that came out! They did a good job explaining the entire process to remove my 30+ foot eucalyptus tree.

The day of the removal they were prompt and kindly let my neighbors know what was going on before they started. When they finished the cleaned up all of my neighbors' yards from leaves and branches. Honestly you can not even tell there was ever a tree in my yard!

They offered to cut some pieces of wood for us and our neighbors and explained that the rest would be donated.

I very highly recommend!

Best tree trimmer I've had. Totally professional, they certainly know their trees and I loved that they were just down-right friendly. Even gave me $20 back because I paid with cash. My favorite thing is they had their own woodchipper! Seriously, they bring their own woodchipper! All I could think of was that scene in Fargo and knew right then I'm calling these guys back next year. lol ;-)

Thank you Yelpers for this one, big time! Having removed something like 5 trees or more at my house in the last 13 years, I have never had such a professional group of people help me with this task as the team from Heartwood. They treat people like I treat them where I work, with customer service top of mind. I'm really not used to that!

Scheduling was a bit of a wait, but to be expected given the time of year (Monsoon Season). Pricing cannot be beat. Communication was made before, during and after the tree removal and the stump was ground. They were totally honest about any damage, even refunded me for a broken spotlight. They are creative and knowledgeable about possible replacement plantings I could do once the tree was gone. They're really enthusiastic about plants the same way I am, so it was a learning experience with every conversation, which was fun. I'm really sorry I just found out about them because, I would have had them remove the other a previous trees I had to pull as I've improved my yard, it was such a good experience. Two thumbs way up!

We found Heartwood on Yelp when we were looking for true arborists that didn't just hack up trees, and I must continue the good reviews. The crew had done great work trimming our Sissos for a few years until we decided to have them removed.

The process there was explained well and relatively inexpensive when the work was done. I'm a DIY'er so Jake offered a lot of great options for replacing them, as well as a ton of other landscape tips in general. His initial visit to estimate the Sisso tree removal turned into an extensive and enthusiastic lesson on tree trimming, AZ landscapes, and the best options for a colorful and water-wise front bed. These guys love to help their customers and it shows.

They just installed a Hong Kong Orchid that Jake had recommended and I had heard that Howard had kept this tree aside for us on his own property. The material is gorgeous and Dakota and his installation crew did a great job. They're efficient and friendly and kept us updated as their schedule changed.

Brittani in the office had done a wonderful job over the months scheduling all the phases of the work, from cutting down the Sissos, stump grinding and poisoning, and then the orchid planting. She kept us updated and was very quick to call ahead when bad weather looked to hose up plans.

A few years ago when I bought my house and knew I needed professional tree care, I asked around and was told that Howard was the guy to talk to. I called Howard and discussed what I was looking for. Howard was extremely professional, knowledgable, and friendly. We scheduled a day so that my palm trees could get a haircut and stop looking so shaggy.

Howard and his team were punctual and got right to it. Watching Howard work is like having a front row seat to Circ du Soleil- if they used chain saws during their performances. Howard is such a pro- he makes this work look easy- when in fact it takes years to get to his level. Howard is a certified arborist- so he actually knows what he is doing- as opposed to some random person who knocks on your door. (spoiler alert- don't hire anyone who randomly shows up at your door- that Stranger Danger material right there. No Bueno)

Anyway- Howard and Heartwood are complete pros, and offer Nordstrom's level service- at Target prices. Howard & Co. Do an amazing job of cleaning up when they are done- so much so that the company could fairly be called Tree Ninjas!

If you need any work at all on your trees- forget the rest, and go with the best. Howard and his team are phenomenal and since you and your trees deserve the best- why not go with the best? You will NOT regret it.

Wow! I had a large Australian bottle brush tree that had never been cut back- we wanted to get it done before monsoon season kicks in . I called , made the appt , was quoted an EXCELLENT price & they came out today and handled it ! They were here about an hour 1/2 - watching them was pretty cool too! They cut back all of the dead limbs and also cleaned up all the mess with a blower ! Britney in the office was amazing and answered all of my questions. If you need a great company call these guys ! The entire process from the initial phone call to the actual work and clean up was absolutely top notch.

The estimate and scheduling process was seamless, complete with phone calls to let us know their estimated arrival time.

The tree trim day was also seamless. They gave us a call to let us know their arrival time, walked us through the overall plan again, then they got to work. When they were nearly finished, they walked us through what they had done, let us know what to expect regarding the growth cycles of the trees, and let us know what they found and what to keep an eye out for on our large pine tree.

Our trees look amazing, and the crew left the yard even cleaner than they found it. They worked extremely well together as a team - all smiles even in this Phoenix heat!

Thanks to online reviews, we found Howard and this company. The storms knocked down our 19-year-old Palo Verde tree and damaged another. They came out this morning, safely removed both trees, and cleaned our yard and street. We are thrilled with their knowledge and transparency with costs and appreciate that things worked out to get the huge tree removed so quickly. We found Heartwood 3 years ago through a recommendation from the Nextdoor neighborhood app. We have a mature ficus and Brazillian Pepper Tree in front, and 22 year old queen palms in back. The queens and Pepper tree are fertilized twice a year for 19 years. All trees have hearty, healthy, consistent growth. In November and May Heartwood meticulously thins and closely trims our trees. Where Heartwoods expert knowledge shines the brightest is the Pepper tree, which tries to be a wild looking bush with winding, uneven tangled branches. This fussy tree requires precision cutting at certain angles, and at certain places to the tinyest of branches. If not done properly the branch, to the trunk goes into shock and dies. We lost 1/2 of the tree once, and significant portions of this tree several times! Heartwood proved their expertise with no signs of Trauma every time they pruned this Pepper.
We love working with the owner and the administrative side of Heartwood is also outstanding. Their quote was a little higher than some, but we qualified for one of their discounts, and their work, and clean up is outstanding.

Heartwood Tree Care quoted me online quickly and easily. They came out and removed a large Ash tree for me. I was super impressed with their team. They were all friendly, communicated and worked great together. I was sorry to see them work in the rain, but they didn't let it slow them down at all.

I called them 9 days ago to get an estimate. Even though their page on Yelp says in-person visits they wouldn't come to look at my trees. They insisted I take pictures and text them, and said they'd have me an estimate in a few days. This should have been my warning sign but I went with it. The only response I've heard since is the next day asking for my full name, and that was 8 days ago. In that time I received two IN PERSON estimates for the work, scheduled it with one of them, AND completed it with another much more professional local company. Heartwood, meanwhile, has not contacted me again by any means. So now they've collected my home address, email, phone number, name, and pictures of my property and have not attempted to do business with me. I have to believe this business is a scam. I advise others to stay away.

We had a great experience with this team, we used features in Yelp to ask them a question and set up and appointment.

It was after a rough monsoon and they were very quick to call me back after the inquiry, despite many other places telling me that they were way behind. They were so courteous and professional as well. They had someone come out with a couple of days and offered to do the work the same day , mind you this was a huge 2 story tall plus mesquite, no easy task. They were extremely knowledgeable, quick and left everything very clean. The owner even came out to help his crew finish the job. He was also able to give us some recommendations for our trees that also suffered in the storm. If we ever need removal or a professional aborist, we will be using this service & recommending to friends.

We'd give 10 stars if we could. Howard and his crew are fantastic.

We were a few days out from our scheduled appointment for our trees to be trimmed when we noticed a very large branch had broke off and was teetering very precariously on our wall. It was way too heavy for us to attempt to remove and we were very concerned that another gust of wind could cause further damage. We emailed Heartwood that evening assuming that we'd hear back the next day. Howard called us that night and after hearing the situation, decided to make it a point to show up at our house at 6am the next morning.

He expertly removed the branch and then went ahead and trimmed the rest of the palo verde as we were concerned about some of the other branches that were hanging above the house. He did all the work himself and did an amazing job. The tree has never looked better.

The rest of the crew arrived a couple days later on the scheduled date of service to trim the remaining trees on our property. The entire crew did outstanding work and made it a point to protect all of the surrounding cactus that were under the trees. They expertly completed the job in no time at all.

We wouldnt hesitate for a second to recommend Heartwood. They're awesome!

This is a well-deserved five-star review. I am really, really happy with Heartwood. Jake came out and not only quoted me on the trees I wanted trimmed, but explained what they were going to trim and why. He also took the time to talk about other shrubs and plants, look at my irrigation timer, and give me some advice about other things. When the crew showed up, they were on time, listened, and handled the job expeditiously but not rushed. Again, the arborist who came out (I'm sorry I missed his name!) talked to me about some other things.

This is *NOT* the cheapest place around. You can get someone to come out and hack away at your trees for less. But they know their stuff, and aren't just getting a few inconvenient branches out of the way, but setting your trees up for health. I'll definitely be calling them back next time we need tree work!

After buying my house, one of the first things I wanted to do was cut down the huge Ficus tree in the front yard. Although I love trees, there were multiple reasons that it had to go - the roots were squeezing the pipes leading to the street, it was blocking the view of the mountains, and it reminded me of the former homeowner (not a good memory). We also needed to thin out the ones in the back and cut down a large palm.

I contacted three other tree companies and Heartwood's estimate, the final one I got, was very affordable. I did have to wait a month for them to come to my house but it was worth it. Jake the arborist was extremely knowledgeable not to mention easy to work with and considerate. His team was fast and efficient and by the end of the day my yard looked completely different... and you could actually see my house! In fact I would go as far as to say they left everything better than they found it.

As I navigate the world of homeownership I have encountered both great and no so great companies. I can confidently say that Heartwood is one of the good ones. They will do what you need with expert input and at a fair price. Call them!

This is a 5 STAR organization... without question !! Howard is incredibly knowledgeable, passionate, personable and professional !! As are ALL of his team and crew ! We were going to get 2-3 arborist quotes to correctly trim our large weeping Acacia. Don't waste your time Call Heartwood first.

We were so impressed with Howard, his approach, plan and the patient explanation of WHY and HOW it should be done ... we didn't bother to call other arborists.

Our large tree had been 'topped', butchered and ignored for years. We have just moved to Arizona and knew a good arborist was needed. It now is a beautiful, natural specimen ... with the base flare now exposed for aeration and health, as well as a new proper tree line drip system.

WOW!!! Howard is a talented tree expert!! The owner, Howard, personally just removed two HUGE trees in our back yard near the fence and it was truly amazing to watch! I had no idea how much knowledge and expertise goes into cutting down a tree!

Immediately after he left, my neighbor texted me the following (remember, these are huge trees overhanging into my neighbors' yards): I didn't see anything fall into our yard. I was shocked!!! He seemed to keep it all on your side (of the fence). Pretty talented guy!! Keep his number in case we need him!

We were torn between cutting the trees way back or having them removed. We got several bids for both options. Howard was very honest and advised us that our trees were not appropriate for our sized yard. He explained the quick growing roots will damage our yard and our neighbors' yards if not removed. In fact, the large surface roots had already done some damage to our curbing. So, instead of us cutting back the trees and later realizing the need for removal, Howard was honest and prevented additional damage and saved us money.

Howard also explained how he would treat the stump and exposed roots to make sure they would not spawn off and create new life, something the others didn't discuss! We were very impressed prior to even having any work done!!

My dad just bought a place and needs some stuff removed. I told him to wait and see how it goes before I fully recommend them. I just got off the phone letting him know that I highly recommend Heartwood Tree Care to him and to you too!!

Where do I start? Heartwood Tree Care or more specifically the owner Howard is simply amazing! I was looking to have my first tree planted and was trying to find someone to do it the right way after having read about many trees being improperly planted.

I found Heartwood Tree Care on Yelp and because of all positive reviews I decided to send them a message. Howard reached out to me very quickly. After a couple of messaged back and forth, he called me to discuss the specifics of my tree needs. After the first call, I knew Howard was who I wanted to plant my tree. He is so knowledgeable and passionate about trees! I did a lot of research and could tell right away that he really knows what he is talking about. There are many so-called experts but in my opinion Howard truly is one.

My entire experience was excellent; from the first contact with Howard, his Office Manager Brittani, to the entire team that showed up today to assist Howard to dig the hole and plant my tree - every one was really great. If you knew me, you would know me writing this review means a lot since I am very analytical, detailed oriented, and have fairly high expectations, and Howard and his team met them all. I have no doubt in my mind that my tree will do great.

If anyone ever needs a professional who cares about which tree he plants and the long term health of the tree - I can highly recommend Heartwood Tree Care. I know I will contact Howard again.

The folks from Heartwood Tree Card did a great job of removing a huge African mesquite trunk from our front yard.

What really stood out for me was how the owner of the business handled an estimating mistake. I had sent Heartwood pictures of the fallen tree trunk and Howard (the owner) had based his estimate on what he saw from the pictures. Unfortunately, when he arrived on site, he realized the job was bigger than he had expected. Being a business owner with integrity, Howard stated that he would honor his original estimate. That was a pleasant surprise. Heartwood Tree Care is a young company, so I convinced him to charge me the cost of the additional work and even then the final project fees were reasonable.

I'm going to be using Heartwood Tree Care for all our future tree projects.

We bought our house three years ago. There were several mature trees on the property, and we've since planted several more. I'm a willing DIYer, but I started doubting my ability to properly care for the trees and wanted some help to make sure I didn't screw it up (don't underestimate the value of trees!).

So, I called Heartwood based on Yelp reviews, and I wasn't disappointed. Howard came out, walked the property with me and patiently discussed every tree on our lot (as well as some other plants) and answered my questions. Obviously, we discussed services they provide and general pricing, but I never felt he was pressuring me to do anything. He's friendly, engaging, genuinely cares about trees, and is EXTREMELY knowledgeable. He gave me some tips, texted me a link to an educational presentation about tree roots, handed me an informational guide to proper watering practices, and gave me the contact info of an irrigation specialist if I wanted more help there. And this was all part of his free initial consultation/estimate.

When we're ready to have our trees serviced, I'm calling Heartwood. And if you're reading this, you should, too. Normally, I wouldn't write a review after a simple consultation, but Howard and Britney (their business manager) went above and beyond. Thank you to both of them!

I will be a Heartwood customer for life! I wish I had found them years ago so my trees wouldn't be in such disarray! Jake showed up for the initial visit - spending time explaining all about my trees, and how to take care of them. He never tried to talk me into anything I didn't want. He gave me quotes for all sorts of options, and the prices were very competitive - even LESS than most I had gotten! I learned so much from him.

Their office staff kept in contact with me every step of the way, always returning my calls promptly (yay Brittani!) and sending reminder emails and texts. The morning of the removal appointment, I totally freaked and changed my mind. I just couldn't bear to remove it, and chose to prune it instead. NO PROBLEM - the crew switched gears and pruned it as much as possible - guiding it to be away from my neighbors home (who had wanted me to remove it).

Halfway through the process, Howard (owner) stopped by to check on things, and bring his crew some food. He even talked to my neighbor for me! He went over and above what I ever expected.

They did a great job - at a very competitive price. It is obvious they truly care about what they do, and the people they serve! I am only sad that I didn't find them sooner.

We had just moved into a new home. Last evening we had a pretty bad storm and one of our trees had started to uproot and was leaning on our house. They came out the next day and had it removed. They are so great to work with and are so knowledgeable. They were able to remove the entire tree off of our house with no further damage. Everything was cleaning up and taken away. Howard's passion for trees is unrivaled. I literally found him here on yelp and would recommend him and Heartwood to all of my family and friends.

I requested a quote from Heartwood and Howard came out himself. I showed him the specific tree I needed trimmed and before I knew it Howard was off on his hands and knees digging out a separate tree's roots to ensure proper hydration.

His crew came out the following weekend, timely and very friendly. Not only did they clean up their trimmings but they also cleaned up probably a years worth of leaves and debris (dog poo included.) I complimented him on his crew going above and beyond, he responded with That's our motto, cleaner than when we get there.

To say the least, I was beyond impressed and I highly recommend him and Heartwood to anyone.

Howard came by our house today to look at some sissoo trees in our front and back yard. My husband and I were worried about possible damage their roots could cause to our foundation.

Howard called ahead and let us know he was running slightly behind schedule. We appreciated this heads up!

When he arrived, he and my husband walked the grounds. Howard was very observant and gave us advice on how to best deal with our trees. He made many recommendations for what to do with our other plants as well. He even helped us switch up our watering schedule to best suit our plants' and trees' needs.

When we decide to plant new trees or shrubs, we will be using Howard's suggestions. We will also call him if we decide to remove any of our trees.

Absolutely top notch.

Recently I've been having trouble with some of my palms, and being a transplant from the east coast, I have no idea what I'm doing with desert vegetation and the like. I had been getting conflicting advice (and plenty of unnecessary sales opportunities) from many different people and organizations, so I decided to call in the pros.

Jake (a certified arborist) came out and did an assessment of the situation, and made suggestions to get things going in the right direction. He made recommendations as to the very few nutrients that needed to be added, and not only did he NOT try and up-sell me any supplies or nutrients at all, he recommended where I could get them on-the-cheap, so I wouldn't get gouged on price. He spent a very thorough amount of time educating me on not only the palms, but various other plants in my yard.

A few days after Jake left, Howard called and we went over Jake's findings, and Heartwood collectively spent even more time ensuring I was armed with the knowledge to get things back on track.

Bottom line: In a sea of misinformation, Heartwood Tree Care is the one group that guided me out of the rocks. Next time I need some tree work done, or have any more questions, these are the guys that are getting my call.

I had a lemon tree dying in my backyard. I couldn't figure out if it was getting over or under watered. Howard came out and diagnosed that it was sun burned. Had me wrap the tree and the tree survived.

He also walked the property with me to tell me what each tree was and the type of care it needed. Gave me his palm cocktail recipe, and my palm trees have never looked better.

Howard is amazing, I sent my request for quote and Howard answered in less than one hour, talk about fast service. I had three palm trees that needed to be cut down, I attempted to do one myself but then realized the clean up and carry away process is the most time consuming and resource consuming. Being short on resources , Howard came to my rescue and personally came to my house on a Saturday did the work for a very reasonable rate, and had everything cleaned up and ready to go. I can't even tell I had palm trees anymore.

Since I work full-time, it is hard for me to get time off to be at home when I need to get things done like tree trimming. Howard was able to swing by the house without me being there and did a thorough assessment of our yard. He looked at everything in our yard and not just the trees that I wanted him to look at. After looking over the itemized quote Howard spent time to explain all the details and broke everything down for me over the phone. After deciding on what things took precedence we scheduled a time to get the work done. Again, Howard and his crew were able to get the work done without me being home.

Not only did Howard and his crew do a great job, but they really went above and beyond. They did a really thorough job cleaning up all the debris. They blew the leaves and debris off both our patios and raked up everything. They even trimmed a few extra things for free. The price was also very reasonable and cheaper then other companies we have used in the past.

Without reservations I would recommend Heartwood Tree Care for your tree services and I will definitely use them in the future.

I have dealt with only a few arborists due to working for a rental business. I have found that working with Heartwood Tree Care (HTC) and Howard to be the most pleasant.

Here are my pros to my interaction with Howard and his business.
1. Good Communication, HTC was also prompt in answering my emails, text and phone calls.
2. Honest to the estimate: Howard explains why he charges what in his estimate. In fact, on one of the 3 jobs he did for me, he underestimated and the job took longer than expected. Instead of charging me more, he stuck to the estimate.
3. Addresses issues: I had some concerns, and he made sure to address each one. He also addressed one issue after I had paid and the the job was finished.
4. Pays his guys: If you want to support the economy in Phoenix, you pay your guys a living and working wage. This business does.
5. Does what you asks: Some arborists, we ask them to do something, and they refuse. Instead, HTC may frown, warn you that it'll kill the tree and if we still want to do it, they do it.
6. Competitive: THC estimate was competitive among the 4 businesses I had come out.
7. Licensed Climbers, Ensured

Here is the single con:
1. They estimate arrival times, that may be a bit off. However, I'm always busy so I work while I wait.

Just to conclude: This is a great company to work with; they are fair, honest, hard working and communicate well. I will continue to use them for some of my properties.

As of 2019, for me it cost $500+ to cut a huge limb that dangled scarily over a house with Mexican Clay Tile Shingles. Cost, 2300+ to do almost a full days work, 1000+ to deal with multiple trees on a property. This really is a competitive business.

5 Stars! Howard and his crew did an incredible job. We had an African Sumac lose a large limb during a recent monsoon storm. Jake, one of their certified arborists, came out and took a look at the damage and recommended several options with the safest and best being to have the tree completely removed. The quotes for the different options were very reasonable and although we love love love that tree we decided it was best to have it removed.

Howard and his crew came out on a Saturday, which they normally don't work, and cut the tree down and removed the stump. Howard confirmed the issues with the tree and gave us some great recommendations for trees to plant to replace it. Per our request, he saved us some large sections of limbs and trunk that we had milled to build something memorable from the tree. It was awesome to watch the crew work to remove the tree and they were able to do so without disturbing any of the landscaping or lawn around it. They cleaned everything up and moved the limbs we were saving to a safe location.

We had a great experience and really felt at ease with our decision after talking to Howard. You can tell he is very knowledgeable and has a great love for his job. We hope to have him out again look at our other trees so we can prevent losing any more.

A branch on my lemon tree broke off on Sunday night. I looked around at about 8PM to find a company to help me out. I needed to know if it could be saved. I messaged Heartwood and literally within 1 minute I got a response. Monday morning, Howard showed up and spent a decent amount of time here explaining to me why the tree broke, how he was going to fix it and even answered some questions in regards to other trees. This was even before I agreed to have them do the work.

When Howard showed up Tuesday morning, he gave me a call to let me know he was here rather than just walking into my backyard where my dogs surely would not have enjoyed that. He and his team took care of the tree and cleaned up. Can barely tell they were here, except for the tree is smaller and much more manageable. He explained the cuts he did on the tree, clearly took his time figuring out the best way to cut the branches off that would least impact the tree. I realized that trees have so much more to them than us common-folk know!

I would highly recommend Howard and will be using Howard in the future. Very friendly, courteous and professional.

Called to have my palm trees trimmed - very reasonable prices - wonderful job - cleaned everything up as well.
Also gave me some recommendations for my trees when he was there, making sure to let me know one wasn't planted properly and how to remedy this problem.
I took him in my backyard and asked for some ideas, he had so many options for me to choose from since my yard is blank and sad looking.

They even recommended the Red Push Pistache which was planted in its place. They did exactly what they said they would do. Extremely knowledgeable, trustworthy, clean and very professional. I researched and read reviews like I was choosing a puppy and I'm so glad I went with Heartwood Tree Care. 1) Its a small family owned business 2) Howard, the owner, and Jake, the guy that gave me an estimate (and looks like Jesus from The Walking Dead), seem like genuine, nice, honest people. No salesmen thing going on nor the concern that you may be getting ripped off. Prices are reasonable, they did a great job and may have left my yard cleaner than when they arrived. This past September we had Heartwood Tree Care prune several trees in our backyard. We were a little cautious as we had used another well recognized pruning service last year and we did not have the best of experience. I am pleased to say this was not the case with Heartwood. From the initial call through the actual pruning service, Heartwood was very professional, courteous, and a pleasure to work with.

Since we have a row of fichus trees that line our back fence area and provide a screen from our neighbors we asked that a certified arborist be part of the pruning crew to insure that they were pruned back enough but not too much that we lose the screening effect. We also have a large mesquite tree that was leaning and overgrown on the edges that we were concerned may fall in a high wind. Howard, who was both the arborist and owner of the company took the time to address all our concerns and answer all our questions. He and his team are very knowledgeable about tree care and maintenance.

We will be using Heartwood Tree Care In the future and would recommend them to anyone.

Wow! Super impressed with the quality of service provided by Howard Hansen of Heartwood Tree Care. If you have trees and care about your home, you need to keep this company in mind.

I contacted Howard because I needed help with 7 Australian Bottle trees in my front yard. They were a mess! Always losing leaves, which made my property an embarrassing disaster, and dropping limbs at random. I exhausted every possible scenario of tending to the trees myself, from various Internet searches about tree health and maintenance, to following every piece of advice I could get from local nurseries. Nothing worked. I didn't know what to do next, but I knew I had to do something. One of my neighbors constantly had my leaves covering his lawn, and another neighbor parks his shiny new truck (on his own driveway) under one of the trees. Needless to say, my concern of damaging someone else's property or my own was growing.

When I contacted Howard, he came over to take a look and assess the situation promptly. He was extremely knowledgeable about diagnosing the health of the trees, the attributes of the species as a whole, and listened intently to my questions and concerns. I ultimately decided the trees would never be what I wanted them to be, and in the interest of my home's appearance and safety, I asked for a quote for removing the trees.

When I received the quote, I accepted immediately (the price was extremely reasonable) and asked Howard to schedule the work at his earliest convenience. While he was there, he discussed how he would remove the trees safely, which was also a concern of mine, given the proximity to my house, the neighbors, the street, and a fire hydrant. His ability to articulate the manner in which he would work really put my mind at ease.

On the scheduled workday, Howard arrived when he said he would, and came prepared with everything he needed to complete the task at hand. I observed through a window and was completely amazed at the care and attention to detail he took while working. He did absolutely everything we discussed and left my yard tidy and looking great. I was so impressed with the quality and value of the service he provided that I asked for a stack of business cards I can give to friends and family.

I will be installing a couple new trees when I receive HOA approval. Guess who I'll be calling to handle that project? Howard Hansen and Heartwood Tree Care. By the way, two other homeowners on my street will be having Howard do tree work. He left a great impression with everyone who noticed his skill and work ethic.

We are extremely happy with the services provided by Heartwood, throughout the entire process beginning with the initial quote. Jake came to our property to look at the trees before providing a detailed itemized quote that explained what was going to be done. I felt good going into this project knowing exactly what was going to be trimmed, how clean up would work, etc. no detail was missed in this process. In addition to all of that, we got some incredible information from Jake detailing general care and other great info on other plants on our property, this included irrigation, fertilizing, trimming - such a wealth of knowledge. These people are extremely knowledgeable, kind, and there is not a pressure to sell like I have experienced with other crews.

We were not able to be at home during the job, but once we got home we immediately noticed a difference in our yard. All 5 trees we had trimmed looked fantastic, it was like night and day. We did have some concerns about the clean up, so we followed up after the job to explain some of our concerns. To address these concerns, the owner came back out to our property on a freakin Saturday to take a look at things! I thought maybe I was being picky but he agreed with my concerns and did some additional work.

The final product looks incredible and we couldn't be happier. The communication and excellent service made this a great experience. Not everyone cares about doing the best possible job, but you can tell these people really take pride in that.

Heartwood Tree removed two sisso trees for us this past week. They were right on time, got the job done quickly and neatly, and were extremely professional. They took great care when cutting down these tall trees that were so close to my house (and my neighbors house). He explained everything that he was going to do and even offered to cut up the tree trunks so we could keep for firewood. I have the most massive Aleppo pine tree that I seriously love as if it were my child, a member of my family. I had noticed that it seemed to be browning and shedding more than its usual cycle, causing concern. One day, I was researching this and found a thread in a tree group on FB where Howard was explaining this particular issue to readers. He was so educational and thorough in his explanation that I knew instantly, he was the one I needed to help my poor pine. He is the only one in our area that I have ever seen/heard of that is aware of the pine diseases that have evolved in AZ over the last 3-4 years, because there are new diseases and pests that most people in this area are not aware of. There are new fungus spores, borers and mites that we have not had issue with in the past. Its a big deal, as similar issues in Colorado are wiping out entire pine forests. I could not let my pine become part of this decimation.

Because of how I came across Howard and Heartwood Tree Care, I did not seek out additional quotes. I needed someone who knew what he was talking about and wasn't just trying to make a buck. His knowledge and understanding was worth whatever he deemed as fair, in my opinion. I paid for his knowledge, not just the treatment. Because of how highly I value my exceptionally large pine, it was warranted to treat the tree to save it and I was grateful to have found someone so knowledgeable about my specific issue. Howard is pleasant to chat with, highly educational and willing to share any information or questions I asked of him. I had the tree treated with fungicidal and insecticidal injections and within only 2 days, the tree began budding on all the tips that 48 hours earlier were brown and crispy. Yay! He saved my baby and I couldn't be more grateful.

I call Howard The Tree Doc (behind his back, haha)...because that is exactly what I believe him to be. I will have him back out soon to do some clean up and trimming of the same tree once the treatment has been able to spread more thoroughly. I highly recommend him, hands down and have given a couple of people and neighbors his name/number already. I just hope he never gets too busy to be able to squeeze me into the schedule.

How I actually connected with Heartwood is an interesting story. It started out with my search for an arborist to come out and prune and fertilize several trees. While requesting a quote from a competitor, Yelp! asked me if I also wanted additional quotes from similar businesses - so I went ahead and asked for four additional quotes. Two businesses never responded, a third never made it out to quote the work because their guy kept having to reschedule. The fourth sent a guy out with a bad attitude, who promptly told my wife that there would be a serious trip charge because we lived outside their normal service area. In fact, he repeated this several times and seemed annoyed by the fact that we were even asking for a quote. Guess what? That was the business that I initially started with.

Which brings us to Heartwood. I was really impressed with Howard. He is very passionate about his job and displays a genuine interest in helping his customers. He came out, quickly identified two mystery trees in my front yard, and discussed at length with me my queen palms in the backyard. He even shared with me what fertilizer they use to treat the palms in Arizona (which is really important for us Queen Palm fans).

Howard's prices were slightly less than his competitor's quote - and because of the amount of work I needed done he even waived the trip charge. To be honest, even if the price were a little higher I would still have selected him because he is such a good guy to work with compared to his competitors. He and his crew came out and did a really good job, not just on the pruning, but also the cleanup and fertilizing. Very professional operation and easy to work with. I would recommend Heartwood to anyone who needs this type of work done. Don't just hire a landscape crew that doesn't really understand trees. Get Howard involved - he is a certified arborist, and he will explain what you may be doing wrong and make recommendations to help keep them healthy. He even followed up with me shortly afterwards when we had some high winds to ensure that the trees were all okay). Definitely make these guys your first choice!

We recently had Heartwood out to trim four of our trees in East Mesa. We bid out a few people and they came in right at the average price, but I felt that the guy who quoted us out was much more knowledgeable about trees in general with an emphasis on matching the cutting we wanted with the health of the trees. When they came and did the work they were fast, efficient and cleaned up everything when they were done. They were even able to work around a flimsy dove's nest with eggs that had decided to roost in one of the trees a few days before our trimming appointment. Would definitely use them again and recommend them. They seem to be pretty booked out so you might not get the work done within a couple days but the wait for our appointment was worth it. :)

Wow - what can I say?? The monsoon wave we got a week ago knocked over a mesquite that had to be over 50 ft high, on its side it was taller than our house. I messaged 4 tree services that same night and let me tell you, Heartwood got back to me the very next morning and was at our house doing the job within 3 hours, finished it by the end of the day. I had an estimate and finished job within 12 hours of them responding to my initial message for a quote. Unbelievable. The work was great, their employees are friendly, and I'm glad we used them. I love my trees and want to keep them healthy and thriving. When my grapefruit tree started having problems with peeling bark and dying branches, I knew I needed to reach out to an expert. Thanks to all the Yelpers who gave Heartwood Tree Care a 5-star review, I found this team of first-rate, certified arborists. I can't say enough good about this company and am glad to add to the chorus of praises.

It's been wonderful to work with everyone at Heartwood Tree Care. They're knowledgeable, courteous, and have kept me informed every step of the way. But I have to give a special shout-out to Howard (the owner). I've never known anyone as passionate and knowledgeable about trees as Howard.

Jake also gets special mention. He came out to look at my grapefruit tree, diagnosed the problem in minutes and gave me a list of suggestions to improve its health. He went on to re-set and check my irrigation system so all my trees were getting the deep watering they needed. Finally, he followed up that day with his report on the suggestions for future care to help my grapefruit tree. It's so helpful to have all this written down for referral. Thank you, Jake!

In addition to a diagnosis and care for my sick tree, I wanted to get my other trees pruned and to have a patio tree planted where a large gardenia bush was located. Both Jake and Howard took the time to explore my goals for the new tree (shade, color, fragrance, low litter, thornless) and advised me on some excellent options for the site.

The team came when scheduled to take out the gardenia. Some of the gardenia roots had wrapped themselves around a section of the irrigation pipe, which broke when the plant was removed. But no worries, Howard repaired the pipe and repositioned the sprinkler. The newly planted vitex is settling in nicely to its new home without any issues.

My mesquite, mastic, and twisted myrtle are now pruned and looking gorgeous. Howard hand-pruned the smaller trees to raise the canopy and give them more openness and a natural shape. He also took out the crossed branches in my mesquite and opened up the canopy to encourage it to become taller. I love how they look.

Heartwood Tree Care is not the cheapest of the options out there, but they provide awesome service, professional advice and excellent care for your trees. Well worth every penny and I enthusiastically recommend them!

I had to have a stump removed prior to some plumbing work being done. I called Heartwood Tree Care - and am I ever happy that I did. Jake came out and did an inspection and an estimate. He listened to what I needed, went over how he would do it, and gave me a more than fair estimate. (He even gave me some advice about the plants I had in the front!)

After setting up the appointment with Nicole, Andrew and Enrique arrived on the scheduled day at around 7:30. I showed them the area and went over my concern about spray from the grinding hitting my wall. I shouldn't have worried. They had a skirt for around the stump AND plywood that they put up against the house that covered the wall and the window. They worked quickly and showed me exactly what they did. Perfect! After they were done, they cleaned the area and took a blower to the awning to get rid of the dust and dirt. After they left, I also discovered that they had blown out my carport!

All in all, it was a terrific experience and I would highly recommend that you give them a call if you need work done!

We had Heartwood come out recently to trim two citrus and two palms, in addition to fixing the depth of the wells around the citrus. The owner was present for most of the day, and the employees were all wonderful, hard working people. They did an amazing job and cleaned up every last limb and leaf. You could tell they all felt like it was a good place to work. They were happy and friendly, and had all of the protective gear to insure their safety. It is rare when you find a company that lives up to the glowing reviews they receive on websites like this, but Heartwood is one of those companies. Howard Hansen leads this family-owned business and he and his team are amazing. They clearly love what they do and genuinely care about making their customers happy. I hope you read this entire review before making a decision to choose any other tree trimming service.

The initial visit by Jake, one of Heartwood's certified arborists, was much more than just a site visit to prepare a quote. He spent time educating my wife and I about the types of trees and bushes we have on our property in north-central Phoenix. He carefully explained what needed to be done and offered his expertise on additional landscaping ideas for our future DIY project list. His quote was very detailed and identified precisely the work to be performed along with itemized pricing.

On the day the work was scheduled, the crew arrived on-time and were very courteous and professional. They were highly skilled in their trade and when the work was completed, they cleaned up after themselves. I was extremely pleased with the results, but the best was yet to come.

In addition to all the pruning and trimming services, I had ordered two trees to be planted. Howard advised us to delay that part of the job until after the winter frost danger had passed. I understand that during this delay he kept the trees at his home so he could personally take care of them until they were planted. When it came time to plant, he came out and did the work himself.

While he was onsite, Howard helped me adjust a Hong Kong Orchid tree that wasn't staked properly when I planted it last year. In what might be some of the worst timing ever, a storm with high winds moved into the valley later that day and a large branch on the Orchid tree snapped. I emailed Howard to ask him if there was a way to salvage the tree. He called me within a couple minutes with instructions to triage the tree and he followed that up by coming out the very next morning (this was on a Saturday!) to mend the broken branch and to re-stake the entire tree.

Service like that is what this is all about. Would I consider using any other arborist or tree trimming service in the Valley? Not a chance. Heartwood has my business from now on. Thank you!

I would like to extend my deepest gratitude for the expert tree service I received from Heartwood Tree Care. I recently had a mesquite tree removed from my front courtyard. Throughout the project, from the receptionist who took my call, to the owner, Howard, who personally provided me with a quote, and the crew (Crew #1) all were courteous, professional, and very kind.

One week ago today I came home expecting to see 4 trees cleaned up and one Arborvitae cut down and the root ball removed. A crew had shown up at 7am that morning. The leader of the group had the estimate on his phone and before I left for work I quickly went over what I thought would be happening that day. Neither the gentlemen who had spent an hour with me in mid-summer and created the estimate, nor the owner of the company showed up that morning. When I got home very little work had been do on a large fig tree and a blood orange tree in my front yard. In the back the lemon tree didn't look like it had been touched at all. A cumquat tree in the back had extensive work on the lower branches to the point that it had been a little over done. The Arborvitae was gone but the root ball was still in the ground.

I sent an email out to the company that evening expressing my concerns and the owner Howard replied to my email that same evening expressing that he was sorry and wanted to come out the following Saturday to make things right. Sure enough he and the gentlemen who provided the estimate met with me and got right to work doing what was originally expected. The trees were all cleaned up and looked great. Howard offered to paint the branches on the cumquat tree to help against future sunburn. He also had his crew come back later that day and they remove the root ball as promised.

All though things got off to a shaky start I would still recommend them. Howard is very nice and very concerned about the performance of his crew and wants the customer to be satisfied. I am very satisfied after seeing how much better my trees look.

Used Heartwood Tree Care to remove a Eucalyptus tree in my backyard at my townhouse. It was a very big tree that was very close to the house, fence, and pergola. These guys were able to remove it and not harm anything in the back. They cleaned up after they were done with the job. It looks great! The owner was very kind to my mother and my neighbor. Great company with great customer service and would recommend them to anyone.

Also want to note that I called another tree company to get a quote (won't name names) but Heartwood was less expensive and more kind. If you want good customer service and a professional job, this is the company I would recommend.

Update: After I left my initial review, Howard did reach out to me to find out what happened. Somehow I fell through the cracks from my initial request for a quote earlier this summer. Howard explained the situation and the growing pains with an expanding business. He was genuinely apologetic and offered to make things right. It wasn't an emergency to have our Sisso removed, so I scheduled for the next time they were in the area. A few weeks later the tree is gone - the crew was quick and cleaned up after they were done. Howard treated my stump and said they would return in about 4 weeks to grind it below grade. Today Howard returned to grind out the stump and completed the job as promised. I am glad I stuck it out with Heartwood, I am happy to use and refer them in the future.

It must be busy season with cutting/trimming palms, since it took a month from the time I first contacted Heartwood from when my Queen palm was actually cut down. Despite the wait, I highly recommend Heartwood Tree Care with any tree service you need. Prices are very reasonable and comparable; but work far exceeds expectations when compared to other companies . Their team is very professional and courteous. Within an hour the tree was removed, stump ground, and hauled away leaving no excess debris behind. If I need any tree maintenance or removal done in the future, I will definitely call this trusted company again!

I had a large Australian bottle tree that had to come down. I spoke to Howard, the owner. He showed up the next day to give me an estimate. While here, Howard took extra time to check out the health of another tree in my yard. He gave me great advice on trimming and all around tree care. He is a certified arborist, and clearly loves what he does. After just talking trees in general, Howard provided me his estimate. I had three other estimates from other highly rated tree care companies (not just landscapers - don't do that to your trees). Heartwood's estimate was next to lowest. After meeting with Howard, I happily would have gone with him even if his estimate was higher than some others.

On the day of the work, Howard and his team of two (including 1 other certified arborist) took the tree down with ease and precision. They cleaned my entire front yard, and my neighbors. They clearly have fun doing what they do. Afterwards, they discussed with me what tree I should get to replace. They were in no hurry, were more than happy to talk, and offered great advice.

We had a huge 60+ ft Pine tree that (sadly!) had died and needed to be cut down. After getting several bids, we went with Heartwood and were super impressed! Not only was their pricing affordable, they were very thorough and professional. Jake did our estimate and Howard did the actual removal- It was obvious how knowledgeable they are and I really appreciated them answering all of my questions. Jake and Howard at Heartwood are awesome! They took down an old mulberry tree and a very large china berry tree that was hanging over our historic home. They also got rid of 2 Italian cypresses. I was looking for a certified arborist and found Heartwood Tree Care on the Arizona Community Tree Council website. Howard came out to the house as planned and after the first 10 minutes of walking the yard together, I was confident that my trees were going to be in good hands with this arborist. We discussed, in detail, what Howard would do with each of the 38 trees he would be working on. Some of the trees required only a ''touch up, while the others needed more time consuming attention. Howard listened attentively to what I wanted and respectfully offered his opinion when necessary. I couldn't believe it, but I found someone who cared as much as I did about my trees.

Howard is prompt, courteous, efficient, and highly skilled. He is passionate about his profession and has very high standards for both himself and his crew. The men, whom he carefully supervises, are friendly and good workers.

In 2 days, Howard and his crew completed caring for 28 of my trees. The cleanup process was excellent. The rest of the job will be completed in March after my olive trees have been sprayed. The price for all of this work is very reasonable.

Howard truly understands both the art and science of tree pruning. I highly recommend him and look forward to having him back in my yard for many years.

Howard took the time to provide a couple of alternative estimates for our tree removal and trimming needs. Hired Howard to remove a 45+yr old large deteriorating cottonwood tree, Howard and his team handled it like experts. Removed this huge tree by climbing and cutting with well-planned cuts that fell perfectly with no damage to the area. Howard's lead climber (Roberto) is a skilled, fearless and strong worker. It was amazing to see him handle the task so effectively. They cleaned up well and took sufficient time to grind the stump down adequately. Howard even took the time to nicely cut some of the large 40 + slices of the bottom of the tree for us to save to make some tables. Howard came out to bid trimming 3 southern live oak trees and 2 mastic trees that were almost 2 years old. He is an arborist and knows how to care for trees. His estimate was very fair and he himself did the trim on all 5 trees. I knew it was important on young trees to get a good structure so it will grow properly. He also recommended a better watering schedule to insure growth. I will use his company every year so our trees continue to get the care they need. He knows where to cut and trim as opposed to me that would just start chopping branches. Spend the money and get an expert and you will never have to worry about trees again. Very impressed by arborist Jake Flater who came out for an tree trimming estimate on a Brazilian Pepper Tree. The detail of his tree inspection was amazing. Found out we were watering incorrectly and Jake explained the correct watering and the reasons for this. Too warm to trim the tree now as it does best if trimmed in the fall so we will definitely be calling him back then. We had some questions about shrubs we'd like to change out and after asking what we type of plant we'd like, he suggested we look at a variety of Australian Emu bushes. We received a detailed summary of his visit and will be scheduling those new bushes soon. Prices are reasonable and we highly recommend checking this family owned business out.

Monday night our beloved large blue palo verde in the front yard had a huge branch break off, which had us concerned about saving the tree, and also about it being unbalanced and posing a threat to our neighbors. Being disenchanted with previous tree services, I asked neighbors online for recommendations, and Heartwood sounded good. Howard and Jake came out to do the estimate on Thursday and reassured us about saving the tree. On Saturday Jake and a crew came to do the work. They did an excellent job! They also did an excellent job on the aggressive ficus in our back yard. They all impressed us as knowing what they were doing and in caring about what was good for the trees, which is not what I have felt with some other tree services. I would certainly recommend Heartwood if you love your trees.

Heartwood Tree Care really does a great job. We have 11 huge desert trees and Walter and his crew really took the time to thin out the growth and raise the canopies properly. They also cleaned up thoroughly, not a single branch was left behind. I will definitely use them again next year.

Amazing work!!! We just had 2 very large trees pruned. From start to finish this company does excellent work! Starting with the estimating work done by Jake, an Aborist, who was very knowledgeable about trees, specing out in detail how the work was to be done. The tree crew followed the specs perfectly, using proper tree pruning cuts and techniques. The trees were pruned and thinned out the best we have ever experienced! The crew also did an awesome job cleaning up, very meticulous, and worked safely throughout the entire job. This is a very professional company that I would highly recommend. We will definitely be using them in the future.

I called Heartwood to come out and give me a quote.... Jake showed up when he said he would, he seemed very knowledgable and the price was right. When it came time to trim the trees, the owner, Howard showed up with 2 employees and they were on time. He explained what they were going to do and made sure I was okay with it. Price was right, they were on time, they cleaned up afterwards and most importantly they did a great job... what's not to like. I highly recommend Heartwood Tree Care.

I recently had a number of trees trimmed by Heartwood. Jake (certified arborist) met me to supply the estimate and was very knowledgeable about the trees including not just names but their history and how they made it the the USA. I interviewed four companies and Heartwood provided the winning bit. The work done by Howard (certified arborist and owner) and his crew was excellent, they competed the work quicker than the estimate and the cleanup was compete. Will use them again in the future. They have a great billing system that allows you to pay by just about any credit card as well as Apple Pay and do not charge any surcharge for credit card use. The office staff was very responsive to phone calls and emails.

I was introduced to Heartwood Tree Care as a member of the BNI -- In the past I Pruned (hacked) my trees or my Landscape Maintenance did the same. Yes I know there was a better way to take care of the tries but just felt I could do it UNTIL I had a Heartwood Representative come out and evaluate my trees. I had two remaining nasty Palo Verde trees and they needed to be removed -- Heartwood came out as scheduled and did the complete removal of the trees and ground down the stumps -- They are scheduled for September to return and prune my Fruit and a new Ash trees. May not be the cost but I can assure you they are the best I have found in our neighborhood -- CALL Heartwood they are Friendly and they protect your other plants and leave after cleaning up. We contacted Heartwood Tree Care because we had a couple queen palms that were looking a little sad. Brittani was prompt to respond and get us scheduled. Plant Dr. Jake came over to our house for our consult. We were beyond impressed! Not only did he have a look at our palms he looked at ALL of our backyard AND front yard plants. He identified a couple issues with some of our plants. He was full of plant knowledge and you can tell he's super passionate about what he does. The consult was very thorough and he showed us the warning signs of different conditions that our trees and plants could get. He educated us on watering ( the main reason for our sad palms) and different ways to keep our yard happy. We will definitely be using Heartwood in the future. The crew removed a huge Palo Verde tree from my backyard. The crew exhibited good safety habits were polite and did a great job in clean up. I felt confident this was a professional crew that new exactly how to get the job done. My quote also included a clean up of my Ash tree. However, I was a little disappointed that the quote was for a minimum amount of clean up for a reduced price. Now, the Ash looks better, but could use more clean up. All in all, I would recommend this company.

Heartwood Tree Care has been extremely professional from start to finish. I have 2 tall fan palms in my front yard and 5 queen palms in the back. I have had various landscape crews trim my palms in the past but the difference was immediate with Heartwood. When I got the estimate I had a great, long conversation with the arborist. He advised me not only on the proper timing of tree trimming, but also on fertilization and the watering schedule that I should be on. All before I paid them a penny. Then, when they did the work, it was quick, professional and my trees look great. The saying is correct: you get what you pay for. Thank you, Heartwood.

On Labor day weekend 2016 I knew we had to fertilize our citrus, and think about scheduling major tree work for our landscape. In Arizona the best time to prune (trim) citrus is when the weather starts to break in the fall. We live in a subdivision that sits in an old orchard and we have (4) 20+ year old grapefruit trees, 9 young citrus, 2 pomegranates, 3 desert willows, 2 texas olives, a mesquite, and an ironwood tree. Pruning trees correctly is very important because once it is done it can't be undone.

I filled out the email request on Heartwood's website and Howard was quick to contact me in the following days. He came out and looked at the trees, and more importantly listened to our concerns. He saved us money by telling me exactly how to fertilize the trees and didn't try to upsell. He has a holistic natural approach and didn't overdo chemicals. We received a detailed estimate the same day. The day of the tree trimming he showed up when expected and answered additional questions.

Howard did an excellent job pruning our trees. It is evident that he knows trees. We will be using him for yearly pruning and mulching in the spring. He is certified with the International Society of Arboriculture, and his recommendations where in line with what I have read. Arborists are different than landscapers because the focus is strictly on trees. Tree health, structure, and care. The goal isn't to have trees that are trimmed into perfect lollipops, it is to have structurally strong, and beautiful trees for years to come. Which is exactly what Heartwood tree care does.

For two years straight, we've called on Heartwood to prune our 20+ year old trees, and they really know what they are doing. We've used many tree services over the last two decades in this house, and Heartwood is by far the most talented. For this year, the old mesquite in front needed some serious pruning and Kyle's crew left behind a work of art. So much mass was removed but the original personality of the tree is still perfectly preserved. They are also very personable and careful about your property, leaving everything intact and pristine. Everyone really needs to know and appreciate the superb work that Heartwood Tree Care does. Both Jake and Howard are such experts in their own fields and have such a passion for their work that they literally transformed our property into something more beautiful than ever before. It's more than just a simple assessment and pruning for them.
Every tree or shrub is thoroughly looked at and treated with utmost care and detail to not only look its best but to live and grow to its healthiest potential. They did about 18 trees for us plus root flaring on 3 plums, some invasive desert broom removal, removed support stakes, and more. And they cleaned up like you never even knew they were here. I love looking out my windows now and seeing how beautiful the trees look and will worry so much less about them with monsoon season right around the corner. I submitted a quote to have some palm trees trimmed at my home, and within 30 minutes I had received a phone call from Howard with an estimate, which was very fair and competitive with other bids I received. He was able to fit me into his schedule same-day, which was unbelievable compared to other companies that had a 1 to 2-week waiting list.

Less than 6 hours after my initial quote request, Howard and his crew were at my house. I was immediately impressed by their professionalism, preparedness, and overall friendly demeanor. He provided some insight into what kind of palm trees I had and how to best care for them. Within about an hour, the work was done flawlessly at a much lower cost than I was expecting.

I can't recommend Heartwood enough - the service was absolutely fantastic and I will definitely be going back to them next time around!

Great company! Howard combined the best of professionalism with a personal touch. We have a variety of large mature trees confined to narrow spaces that haven't been trimmed in many years. They were able to trim each one back from the house and neighbors while keeping a nice overall structure of the tree. Compared to other estimates, Heartwood charged less and did an outstanding job.

So after hearing how awesome Howard and his crew are for all your tree needs from basically everyone in my extended family I was finally able to experience their greatness in person! The Heartwood Staff from Nic who organized and communicated the scheduling of appointments, to the crew that amassed my property and tended to my trees so efficiently I cannot make any complaints. We had one tree removed and the stump ground (African Sumac) and another tree trimmed (Afghan Pine). Howard and the crew showed in the middle of chaos - I had my contractor on sight during the same time for window installations - and the guys were effective in getting right to work while also communicating what they were doing/planning so that I could more easily orchestrate the different crews around the property. I needed to remove two Aleppo pines one of which was over 30 ft tall. Of the three proposals I reviewed, Heartwood offered the best price. Great company, knowledgeable, fast and reasonable pricing. With the recent monsoon storm, we had a large Ash tree fall down on top of a car. Howard put together an emergency crew to take care of the need for tree removal across the valley caused by this storm. We highly recommend Heartwood! They exceeded our expectations. The crew was here bright and early and they were extremely efficient and fairly priced. We ended up having them take down all our trees, and they matched a rate we received from another company. So there was no need to go anywhere else. My boyfriend had cut down a tree in our back yard a little over a year ago, but there was still a tall stump that needed to be cut and ground. Jake from Heartwood came out to give us a quote. You can tell that Jake loves what he does. He was friendly and gave a few tips for other plants and tress in our yard to keep them healthy. My boyfriend said if everyone at Heartwood is like him, we need to hire them. And that's what we did. Howard and his crew came out to do the work. Because of where the tree was located it was hard to tell how far down the stump needed to be ground. Howard kept me inform and asked my input during the whole process. Since then we have cleared away a lot of the dirt around the stump and realize the it needs to be taken down even further and I will be calling Heartwood to do that once we are ready to move forward. Great family owned business with a great group of professionals working for them.

Howard and his team did an excellent job! I had a very very tall pine in the front yard that unfortunately needed to come down. It was a small space to work in and a precise fall needed to happen. It was EXACTLY on target. Howard was very professional as well as friendly, answered all my questions and gave me great advice. If you need tree care or removal I would 100% recommend Heartwoood !! He even talked to me about my other trees do's and don't as well as watering recommendations and did some existing tree trimming. Very very reasonably priced was another bonus! The 4 gentlemen who came and removed our three large Aleppo Pine trees (including owner, Howard) were smart, cautious, creative, hard working and thorough! I think I found Heartwood through Yelp...and I'm certainly glad I did! They pruned an old Mesquite tree for me yesterday and did a tremendous job! It had been many years since the tree had seen professional care and I'm now confident that it'll remain healthy for many years to come. The gentlemen from Heartwood were very professional and knowledgeable... and patient with my questions. They took the time not only to explain what they were doing, but also educated me on the care my tree will need to remain healthy.
I wanted a service that would check the health of the tree as well as perform thinning and pruning. Heartwood's estimate was less than other's and their reviews were solid. At the end of the job, they charged me less than the estimate! Not something you often find.
I'm so glad I choose to work with Heartwood Tree Care.There are many tree services out there, but I'd challenge you to find one as good as Heartwood! I most strongly recommend them!!!

recently bought a house and saw a neighbor having their palms trimmed so I walked over to get info. So glad I met Howard and Heartwood Tree Service. Howard did a great job. You can really tell he has a passion for trees. I needed a bolt and cable job done on a desert tree in my backyard that really makes the yard with its shade. I moved into my home about two years ago and the trees were looking great. Fast forward to now, I have a large queen palm that looks very unhealthy and a few other trees right behind it. I called Heartwood and they scheduled a visit for the same week. Howard was able to quickly diagnose what I was doing wrong. From there he gave me a ton of information about my citrus, ash and remaining queen palms so I can keep them in good health. Howard was professional, very knowledgeable and super helpful. Do you want a GREAT company to do your tree work or just some Joe schmo that you can't trust? If you want greatness then I HIGHLY recommend you go with, Heartwood Tree Care!! Howard and his team are amazing. Howard gave me a very competitive quote (easily beat out the major companies like Moon Valley). After we setup a date and time, Howard, stayed in contact with me as far as his ETA. When I was on the hunt for a company and looking for quotes, I had multiple competitors' text and say they would be at my place at a certain time, and either not show, or were extremely late - that was particularly frustrating. When Howard said 5:30, he showed at 5:30. Howard was a delight to work with. He was very honest, reliable and easy to deal with, and I can't forget to mention a crucial fact: he's a certified arborist. You don't want to risk hiring some guy off Craigslist that isn't an arborist or at the very least licensed and insured. I would hope that you wouldn't take that risk. While in the process of removing my tree, Howard offered to take down a bird's nest from said tree, and offered to place it in another tree for me. Howard and his crew were able to remove the tree in the estimated time that he said prior to starting. His crew did an amazing job cleaning up my yard. I've had other companies clean up, and it was a disaster. Howard and Jake (can't forget about Jake) made my yard look as if no work was even done - it was immaculate. I was thoroughly impressed. He even hung around to chat after they finished the job. I cannot give enough praise to Howard and his staff for the remarkable job they did. They are great, and I will definitely be calling, Heartwood Tree Care, again for my next job. I found Heartwood Tree Care through yelp. The reviews of this business were outstanding and the work Howard and his people performed on my trees proved that the reviews were entirely deserved. If there were a sixth star for businesses that stand head and shoulders above others Heartwood would surely receive it.

From the first meeting, I was impressed by this company- they are true professionals. Clean, safe and great workmanship- they are the real deal. Ignore the business cards left on your porch by neighborhood landscapers, and call Heartwood Tree Care.

We had a large pine tree that was turning brown fast. Howard came out to take a look and discuss our options. Howard is very knowledgeable above trees in the valley area as well as what illness/diseases are affecting trees in the area. Unfortunately our tree was too far gone to save. Howard's price for removal was reasonable and is fully insured for his work on site. He and his crew removed the large tree in a day without harm to neighboring trees or landscape. Howard also provided advice and fertilizer recommendations for other trees on our property. We will utilize Howard's knowledge and services from here on out and recommend him highly for anyone in need of an arborist.

We called Howard when we moved into a new house and needed advice on removing a couple trees that were close to walls and the house. Howard's quote was competitive and his attention to detail far surpassed anyone else we talked to. He did a great job. Thorough clean up and left us with advice on how to care for the other trees on our lot. We highly recommend him.

My wife and I bought a 15 gallon lemon tree to plant in the front yard from a local nursery. We originally had paid the nursery to deliver and plant the tree. A few days before delivery, I went out to prep the area we were going to have the tree planted. When I started shoveling rocks out of the area I found an old stump about a foot in diameter. CRAP!!!! Immediately I went to Yelp and I sent some requests for bids to get the stump removed to several contractors. Howard of Heartwood responded almost immediately and gave me a price that was over 50% less than some of his competitors not only to remove the stump but ALSO to plant the tree! I called the nursery immediately, explained that I would be cancelling planting/delivery and picking up the tree myself. Since it was a quick job, Howard was flexible (and we were flexible) so he was able to work us into his busy schedule within just a couple of days. It took his guys maybe 30 minutes to grind the stump and remove the entire root ball. He then carefully thinned out the lemon tree and taught me all kinds of do's and don'ts about planting the tree but also on how to care for it. I watched him out of curiosity and he talked me through the entire process. He was full of energy, very outgoing and friendly. You can tell this is a guy who LOVES his job and is an EXPERT (Arborist aka Tree Specialist). It is hard to find people like this, especially in landscaping and tree work. He has very nice equipment, a hard working crew and they did a great job cleaning everything up upon finishing. My wife and I were delighted with his services and we will definitely be calling him again if we need more tree care or planting done! Thank you Heartwood! Thank you Howard.

I have used several tree companies in the valley over the years and I can honestly say Howard is the best! He has a true passion for his work, he has spent a lot of time with me discussing the health of my trees. From taking down a large tree, to trimming a tree that wasn't looking so healthy, to planting a new tree, he has been amazing. He is thorough and honest and I feel really good about having him look after our trees!

Howard did some work on 1 large ficus tree and removed 2 smaller trees. He gave us a good quote and got the job done quickly and even cleaned our pond of debris after the job. Would highly recommend. Also he is very knowledgeable.

My first meeting was with Jake one of the Arborist who met with me for over an hour to provide me with a estimate. His knowledge and passion for trees and plants was amazing. He walked with me around my yard looking at each plant providing me with watering and care advice. Jake then left and provided me with an estimate within minutes. Howard and his crew then came out to trim my precious Brazilian Pepper tree that I love so dearly and is the focal point of my front yard. Howard, too, is a wealth of knowledge. He took time to explain what and how his crew were going to trim and thin out the tree. Howard also helped me with my watering system so my plants are watered appropriately. Heartwood did an awesome job and I would highly recommend this company.

We recently had Heartwood out to trim an overgrown Live Oak tree and dig out and enlarge the wells on 3 citrus trees. The trim on the oak was much better than I had bargained for.No more lollipop tree like the other trimmer did three years ago.Howard was present the whole time and shared his knowledge to make our citrus more productive.You will not find a better arborist or tree trimming crew in the valley!Clean up was excellent.

I just had several trees trimmed by these folks. Every part of the process was amazing. They responded right away to my email. A very knowledgeable arborist came out to see what I needed and we discussed a plan. I received the written plan and an invoice with each part clearly priced and labeled. Then I spoke with Brittani who was delightful and we worked out a time. She emailed the information which is helpful. Then today the crew came out and did the work. Miguel, the foreman came to the door and introduced himself. We went out back to look at the job together. Discussed my concerns and they went to work. The crew were all perfectionists. The work is just what I wanted, and when I wanted something that would damage the trees they explained why it was best to hold off. I felt ' listened to ', something that doesn't always happen with women. The owner came out to see how things were progressing, and he listened as well. The price was fair, my trees are beautiful and everything is neat as a pin. I could not recommend this company more.

Howard and his team were amazing. It was back in October that they helped us out in removing a fichus screen, trimmed up 2 huge fichus beautifully and handled the removal of a leaning mulberry that had a beehive in it (exterminated at that point unfortunately) AND was very tricky being directly next to the pool. They were absolute professionals that did a fantastic job and left the place cleaner than I expected. Would I hire them again? No doubt! I will definitely have them back to handle a pine, consult on our landscape redesign and all of our arbor needs in the future. They were absolutely awesome!

Very responsive, excellent work, accommodating, and with fair pricing. They trimmed/cleaned up 9 trees (mesquite, Palo Verde, iron wood) and removed an overgrown mesquite. Another plus is nothing goes to the landfill. Large wood is cut for firewood, and everything else is shredded for use as wood chip ground cover. And when they were finished, they cleaned up all residue, even my pool. I highly recommend.

Howard and his team were amazing. Extremely professional and stopped several times during the pruning to explain what they were doing and the results they were trying to achieve. Also spent time with the arborist discussing other trees in the yard and they type of care that was needed. Such a great help since we just moved here from minnesota two months ago. Jake was so helpful for determining how to handle a diseased tree. I love that he gave us advice on how to try to save it even though its prognosis does not look good. He also looked at other trees on our front and back yards to advise on how to best care for them. He was not in a hurry and took the time to explain technical information in a way I could understand. Howard cleaned up my Mesquite tree today that was in desperate need of some professional attention. He is friendly, helpful, and knows everything tree. Howard explained the process before he began his work, and made sure to answer all of my questions. He completed the job exactly as explained and did it in a timely matter, cleaning up the area before he left. just had heartwood out to trim 2 trees and remove 1 huge privet. the price was very reasonable. they have certified arborists on staff and the crews certainly know how to make the proper cuts so the trees will flourish. kelly's crew (wes, dakota and kelly) was very professional and their attention to detail (like clean-up) was awesome. i have no problem recommending this company to all that need a tree care service!

As soon as Jake came to give us an estimate to cut down some trees, before we'd even heard the price, we knew that we would be going with Heartwood Tree Care. The people who work here are so engaged and interested in horticulture and botany, so helpful, and so thoughtful, that you're lucky to even just talk to them about what you want to do with your yard. My husband and I learned a lot about what we were growing, how we could be treating our plants better, what kind of considerations to keep in mind when replacing the plants we were having removed, and were given lots of great resources for delving deeper into our occasional hobby of backyard food growing and permaculture. This was on top of having our trees meticulously removed despite being really close to some much loved delicate plants and grinding the stumps down lower than other places even quoted me for. And as if that wasn't good enough, the final price ended up being really affordable. I can't recommend this business enough.

We had an average size Aleppo Pine in our front yard that unfortunately started dying. I didn't know much about pines, so I wanted to see if trimming was an option or if removal was in my future. I believe in doing the research and looking into your options for skill and price before committing to any company for any particular job. I called around to many of the valley tree service companies for quotes and general info, and out of everyone, Howard at Heartwood Tree Care impressed me the most. He got back to me quickly, showed obvious expertise as an arborist when he came out to assess the situation, and had the best price by far! He seemed more interested in helping me than making money on a quick job. Howard took the time to explain the pine blight my tree had, and how he could trim it for me (which a lot of companies were suggesting), but due to the type of disease and amount of damage so far, it would be best (and more cost effective) to do a full removal. I appreciate the honesty so I didn't have pay for a trim and then a removal later. We were a little nervous about the big tree being so close to our house, but when Howard came out for the removal, he put our concerns at ease and explained the process and his specific method of felling trees that he learned and perfected in Oregon with trees much much larger than ours. He took great care while initially trimming branches and even protecting the sidewalk and street with those branches before making his precise cuts in the trunk to drop the heavy tree exactly were he said it would fall. After everything, Howard even offered to trim a couple dead branches on another tree in our yard free of charge, just because it needed to be done, and he was there and willing. Needless to say, we were very impressed with the professionalism, expertise, kindness, and quick work. I will recommend Heartwood Tree Care to anyone who needs a good arborist.
