If I could give zero stars I would...let's start there. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY even if they are on the list for Arizona Granite and Tile. They do not deserve your business and they really don't give a s**t about you or your project.
Purvis was our salesperson. My gut told me to be careful with him, but I decided to push those feelings away because my partner seemed to connect with him, especially over music. In hindsight, I should have been more verbal regarding my sense of unease as this salespe made several mistakes over the course of this remodel...two bathrooms/four sinks. Granted, we did consider a change part way through due to the allure of a beautiful (and therefore, more expensive/cost prohibitive stone) but we quickly got our heads out of the clouds and went back to the original plan/quote.
All along we explained to Purvis that we wanted unpolished stone, often referred to as honed. It's a bit more work to take care of, but we liked the look and decided to go for it...plus Purvis told us that the installers would seal the stone initially after installation, with us resealing it every couple of months after that ourselves.
We chose marble, Negro Marquina, and he gave us a quote based on that. Since we'd already been to Arizona Tile twice to see the small selection of what we wanted, we gave Purvis permission to hold a slab for our project. He texted us several days later to tell us that he'd taken care of that.
My gut kicked in again and I decided to send him a text asking a simple question, "Honed, right?" Thank goodness I did because he'd forgotten and had purchased a polished slab instead. And since Arizona Tile had no honed slabs, he was going to check out their Tucson location. The very next day he found two in Tucson, BUT if we wanted honed, the price was double. Even though the original quote was supposedly for honed anyway. We were not happy, to say the least.
At this point, I mentioned my concerns to my partner. Should we trust this company? This man? I had serious doubts, but we decided to move forward. BIG MISTAKE!
To make a way too long story a bit shorter, I'll highlight the rest:
1. We chose a different stone instead of paying double: an unpolished, honed granite.
2. We'd originally signed a quote with Purvis that included a plumber to take out the four sinks the morning of the installation, and return that afternoon to install the new ones. The quote was $750 for this service. It seemed high but we agreed. He called us later to tell us that he'd made a mistake. It was $750 TWICE, or $1,500 for the plumber to take out the four sinks and reinstall them. We told him we'd find our own plumber (who did it for $500.) Plus he charged us for his own sinks even though we'd already bought ours from Mexico and shown them to him. So we re-signed a corrected quote.
3. The person from Diamond who came to prepare templates for fabrication with our new sinks (I'm sorry....I forget his title) arrived with the wrong information. I explained the project to him myself and as I walked away I heard him mutter under his breath "typical Purvis" which only reinforced what I already believed about this company.
4. Given that ours was honed granite, very prone to fingerprints and staining, you'd think the installers would be wearing cloth gloves. NOPE. Nothing of the sort. Just their grimy hands. They quickly put some kind of finished product on it at the end (Was it sealer? We'll never know) but when it dried, the counters were covered in marks and fingerprints that we cannot get out. And they weren't caused by the plumber, as I covered the counters in old sheets when he came back the next morning. (so as not to make things even worse.)
5. Multiple calls have led us nowhere. No followup. No effort at helping us solve this except to suggest we buy a new sealer on Amazon.
6. Neither Purvis nor his company, Diamond Granite, has taken any responsibility for the issue. Thousands and thousands of dollars later and our new countertops look worse than the old ones we ripped out.
7. AND, the installers left the most unbelievable mess! It took me over an hour to clean up after them as they tracked everything up and down the carpeted stairs and through the house.
Moral to this story? DO NOT HIRE DIAMOND GRANITE! Had I only read the reviews first, I'd not have selected them either. Shame on me. They simply cannot be trusted to do the job right, OR to fix any mistakes after the fact.
