Wonderful guy! Very nice, respectful and very good at what he does. He even showed me exactly how my particular ignition switch worked with the new keys he had made. Also, if you get a chance ask to see Red, the resident shop cat.

The only complaint I have was that I was under the impression my three keys had already been made but they needed to be made when I got there, even after calling that I was on my way.

Likely an internal communication issue.

Horrible place, the owner is a complete jerk. Lack of communication. Took him 3 weeks to "fix" a power washer. Took it home to test it out since he won't test it out at his location to find out it doesn't work. It was the same way I took it in. Called him to see what we could do. No communication skills seems like he gets annoyed. Like if I wasn't annoyed myself with this place. Never use this place they are a scam. Bob just wants your money doesn't care to provide quality service.

I've tried to take my bike to this shop and every single time I take it in the guy tells me to take it "not this Friday, but next Friday" It's everytime and I'm sick of it how many fridays do I have to take my bike in to get checked? Then I asked him for a time and he told me "I don't care" this guy is very unprofessional and is just wasting my time. I have not given him no type of attitude everytime he tells me to come again I been polite but I'm just done with this mans business. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone.

Willing to sell, but not very honorable about verbal agreements. Won't stand by bike service. Sold a bike out from under me by a few minutes, prob for the best. I even travelled to get there and called ahead to say I was coming for  lt he bike.
No ownership of ownership. Too bad I like to support Indy biz.

Took my Ridgid power tool in as Bob's was the authorized service center for the Phoenix area also showed them the authorized Lifetime warranty with an confirmation number..
Was told it would be a week and a half for the repair.. Two weeks go by and called them to see how it was progressing... The owner obviously needs to read 'How to win friends and influence people' as his tack tries to make you feel inept.
He finally mentioned he was in contact with Ridgid and was awaiting word back from them in the next 15 minutes ... isn't that a coincidence... after a half hour I called him again and he told me after contacting Ridgid that it was out of warranty...
I then called Ridgid and finally connected with a representative who confirmed I did had a Lifetime warranty.  I told her my experience with Bob's and she said they keep track of all calls and Bob's had Never Called Them...
She stated to take the tool to Home Depot's rental center for repair...
I called back to Bob's and said I would pick up the tool in a half hour.
Upon seeing him one on one he looked me straight in the face and said he talked to Two people at Ridgid and they both said it was out of warranty. ...
Take your business somewhere else!!

The Owner Bob is a Heartless Jerk! Our Dad passed away unexpectedly. Our family needed a Uhaul. His place was our designated drop off. We were an hour late, and he refused to work with us, and wanted to charge an additional full day. My Sister talked to him first. She is young, and apparently called him Dude. Well, when I tried appealing to a human kindness side. He told me if my sister had not referred to him as a Dude, maybe he would be more helpful. He said, I am a Man not a Dude. Basically we called and found another drop off that was very kind, and generous. They took the Uhaul back no extra fees, and great customer service. Bob is not a Man, not a Dude, he is a complete Rude, inconsiderate jerk! Should not own a business, total lack of what customer service is!!! Zero stars.....

This place is great.  I found it by chance as a certified repair shop for an electric razor scooter I bought.  The owner is old school and he's carved out a nice little business for himself.  Definitely a local small business.  Great service and a fun experience.

I called and ask if they could help me with a Thule bike rack that didn't have a key. Then five minutes after arriving I had two keys that work perfect. Couldn't be happier

Well now I understand why the reviews are low. I called to find out how much it would cost to replace the jogging stroller tire tubs as they were not holding air and the guy in the phone was condescending and completely rude! I have no desire to go in person and will take my business elsewhere the worse customer service by phone no need to go there in person.

Our family was traveling a route downtown -- one we've taken numerous times down Central Ave from South Phoenix.   I noticed the store front on Central (North of Southern on the East side of Central) and I made a note to check it out since we often travel to Chandler or Downtown Phoenix to get our bikes tuned up or fixed.

My mental note payed off shortly after Christmas.   "Santa" brought our son a new mountain bike for Christmas and my husband put the bike together.   I don't want to seem ungrateful for my husband's efforts, but mechanics is not his forte.  A couple of weeks of riding the new bike and everything started to go haywire - including the brakes and alignment.

We took the bike over to Bob's and he fine-tuned my husbands work.

Note:  Parking is a bit confusing -- you kind of park in a driveway off Central.  I actually considered dropping the rating to 3-stars just because the parking is a pain.

As other's have mentioned, Bob is also a lawn mower mechanic and a locksmith -- he must be handy to have around the home :)   I don't think my husband is quite as ambitious to fix our lawn mower and he will probably be less likely to volunteer to fix anything else after he reads my review....but for the record, I appreciate him and his willingness to fix things....but I'm glad to find backups in South Phoenix if we need them!

I have nothing but good things to say about this place, if you want it done right the first time come here. I took my weedeater due to not starting, bob had it checked out and fixed the same day at a fair price. And he also gave me a great deal on a used mower. So please support your local mom and pops businesses.

The guy I talked to on the phone about a warranty was unbelievably rude and totally unprofessional. Very condescending and poor communication; he wouldn't even listen to what my actual question was before barking out that it was impossible for him to know. You don't know if you can look up warranty info? Unfortunately, he is the only authorized warranty person near us. I will never use him again. I still can't get over how short and rude he was. I can't recall ever being treated this poorly by a company.

They really know what they are doing when it comes to locks, seem like nice people.

Unfortunately, their storefront hours aren't listed anywhere.  Calling their number says open at 8am on Saturdays and to call back if you're calling during business hours.  Went by at 9am, not open.  Went back at 10 am and still not open.  Still nobody answering phone.  What going on guys?  I'm trying to give you business here geez.

I took my weed eater to Bobs Lock and Cycle in July of this year. Since then I have returned it 3 times for the same problem. I have encountered rude employees, the prices are high and quality of repair below standard. I RECOMMEND ANY REPAIR SHOP BUT THIS ONE!!!!

A week before Christmas, I took my son's Go-Ped in because it wasn't running. I had tried to rebuild the carb with a kit from another shop which is now closed and had given me wrong parts.

Called Bobs up and they said it would run $75-$80 depending on the issue. They seemed nice enough when I went in and they said a couple days would be needed for repair.  I also asked them to see about replacing 2 missing board screws and the bushings. They called a few days later and I went in to see a $142 bill. I asked them what had happened because this was off the mark from our discussion. I am told that they put several hours into trying to fix the carb only to replace it in addition to the salvaged screws and bushings which they were charging me $7.50 for.  Then I'm told, "well if you had asked us to call before replacing anything, we would have."

My issue is that we did not discuss work that would double my bill. I understand markups. If you tell me I will have to replace the carb then I will gladly pay for the work that was done and either wait to pay the cost when I have money or I will do it myself.

I will have to keep looking for a reliable small engine mechanic. I have 2 lawn mowers, weed eater, and blower and of course an 11 yo's Go-Ped that all need work.

How many places can you go get spare keys made AND talk about bike parts with someone?  I bought spare keys AND got some brake & shifter cables for a bike I got at the thrift store.

They've got some used bikes, some bike parts, keys, and it looks like the previous reviewer said- some blower & mower parts?

And good advice!

Based on recommendation from the manufacturer I dropped my pressure washer off for repair when the engine ran perfectly but the pump seemed to be an issue.  I was told the repair would take "about a week".  After not hearing back for 2 weeks I called and seemed to irritate the person for asking if my pressure washer was ready. They asked if someone called me and told me it was ready and I said no. I guess their attempt to make me feel like a jerk for calling. At that time I was at least told my pump was bad and they ordered a pump.... it would be about another week. Another week passed and no update.... followed by another week when I again called and went through the same routine.  The 3rd time I called, after a month since I dropped the washer off, I was told the "just got the new pump today".  How convenient.  I picked up my washer and told the charges were covered by the warranty so I thought that was great and a good sign.  So here is where it get good!!! - I hooked up my pressure washer when I got home, fired up the engine, and guess what????  The pressure washer worked no better than the day I dropped it off... same issue.  My guess is that no work was ever done. Since they didn't charge me anything I wasn't concerned when he gave me no paperwork but in hindsight it was clear they just wanted to get rid of me and didn't need my business.  As with other reviews the communication was terrible and their service less than poor. Quite a few places in the valley for small engine repair which I will use for future needs.

If you've been to a few repair shops before you won't be surprised by the surroundings.  If not, don't be turned off by the assorted used parts, old mowers and general decrepitude.  If you need your chain saw or mower repaired Bob's is a good place to visit.  The work is good and most importantly, it's done quickly.  You'll get a two or three-day turn around at Bob's vs. a week plus at the other repair shops.  That's a big plus because if you depend on your equipment you want it done FAST.
I've had my mower serviced twice at Bob's; oil change, new filter, spark plug adjustment and blade sharpening.  My second visit I asked them to adjust my drive motor - which they forgot to do.  That's not great but at least I had my mower for the weekend's big home tour.  Bob's is responsive and I give the quality of service three and a half stars.  Absent their one slip up I'd have given them four stars.  Keep in mind this place is really basic, more than a little dirty and in a crappy part of town.  That said, it's really about getting your equipment back in a reasonable amount of time and in that regard Bob's stands alone.  If you live near downtown this should be your go-to place for equipment repair.

wow this guy is a complete scam.  Took a electric scooter in that had full warranty through razor and he is the service center for this company.  Asked me for a $15.00 dollar deposit that I was supposed to get back..  He told me that they would only give $30.00 labor back to him so I would have to pay the rest.  WELL WHY IS HE IN BUSINESS WITH RAZOR.COM THEN? I said I was coming down to get my $15.00 dollar deposit and my 8 year old sons scooter back, and he said "YOUR NOT GETTING ANYTHING"  HE ALSO DIDN'T EVEN CALL AND LET ME KNOW WHAT WAS GOING ON, AND HE HUNG UP ON ME.  WOW!

We dropped off our mower and had to call them twice over a 16 day period before we finally got a status on the mower.  They would not honor the warranty on a 2 yr. old motor.  Their reply was the motor was worn out but they would be happy to give us a quote on a new motor.  My husband is a mechanic and did regular maintenance. Why would we buy a new motor from them if they did not warranty the first motor?  I would not recommend the lawn mower repair portion of this business to my friends.

this place is THE WORST. unprofessional and below satisfactory. i took my bike in on a tuesday, they said it would be ready in 3 or 4 days, then called me the next day to say it was ready. i called them back to let them know i'd be able to get it saturday, the man was really rude and told me that they don't hold them that long and they don't have any room to keep it and don't i have any friends that could come pick it up for me. so i got my dad to go get it for me and when he picked it up, the chain kept coming off whenever he'd come to a stop. so he took it back and the guy told him that someone must have greased the chain, to which my dad replied he had just picked the bike up and hasn't touched the chain. my dad also said that they had "fixed" the brakes, but he made them redo them because he said they were way too tight. very unsatisfied with the professionalism AND with the bike repair.
