ABOUT BUSINESS OWNER

After many years as a design professional in England, I moved to Arizona in 1992 and began helping a friend who was a 10 year faux finishing specialist. The first time I worked with him I was able to appreciate the impact decorative painting can have and how people feel when they see their home transformed. When he left the business I continued working with some of his old contacts and developing my own.

In over 20 years working in the Phoenix area, each project I have been involved with has been another opportunity to help people bring their imagination to life, to bring out the feeling they want in their home. And to make it happen so they can experience the magic for themselves.

Long story short, Doug is an amazing muralist! He just completed a 40 foot long, jungle motif mural across the back wall of my pool area and it is truly wonderful.

When we first met, Doug listened carefully to my design ideas and closely reviewed a rough sketch I provided. My design included some whimsical elements that others may have disagreed with but Doug respected my desires.

Within just a couple of days, he provided me with a computer generated draft of how he conceptualized the project. That draft was dead-on and it was clear to me that he fully understood my vision. The quote he included was very fair, even a bit less than I anticipated.

After reviewing samples of past work that he provides on his (exceptionally well designed and functional) website, I knew he could create my mural just as I had envisioned it. From there, commissioning his work was an easy decision.

Doug worked hard, beginning at sunrise each morning, for 3 weeks. Recognizing my curiosity and interest in his process, every step of the way, he shared the direction he was going and his next steps. He willingly modified the few elements I had additional input about and included detail within the work that was above and beyond my expectations. I enjoyed watching him work.

The finished product is wonderful beyond my wildest dreams. I have a large picture window in my living room that looks out onto the mural so I enjoy it whether I am inside or out. Everyone who sees it comments on how amazing it is.

I've used Doug to faux a movie room and it looks fantastic. He used a metallic glaze over a reddish base and I couldn't be happier. We also had a room with wallpaper, the wallpaper had a small tear in it, rather than removing the wallpaper we had Doug faux paint the tear to match the existing wallpaper, you literally cannot even see the mark. We'll use Doug again for our next projects.

Doug faux painted our entire house 10 years ago, and when we moved this year to a new house there was never a question that we'd hire him again. His faux finishes are what turn a house into a warm, inviting home. He is a master with color and can turn your ideas -- however vague they might be -- into a masterpiece. In our case our house now looks like an authentic hacienda, complete with his expert darkening around fireplaces to make them appear used and his contrasts from room to room to make it all flow, yet give each room its own character. Doug is as talented as he is efficient in coming into your home with as little disruption as possible. He is quite simply the BEST in his field!
