Worst company I have ever dealt with in my life. Refused to return my phone calls, lost my paperwork, extremely rude managers. Had to file a complaint with BBB, just to get them to send me an email. Please don't waste your time or money with these people.

DO NOT USE AHG!!!  If I could give AHG home warranty no stars I would. People do not use this company for your home warranty. My air conditioner went our a few weeks ago. So I a call AHG and set up a time for some one to come and fix it on that Friday morning. Service guy never shows up, so I call AHG and they say that they will make some call and get another A/C repair man out and that they will call me back with a new company and time for repair man to come out and repair our A/C. 1 hour goes by no call back. So I call again and get a different representative and they tell me the same thing as the previous representative. I get that same come back 2 more times.

Not one person call me back so I had to take it upon my self and get my own repair man out. I  finally got one out to my house and got it fixed in 20 min. The best part is that AHG thinks that they should still get my $60.00 for my reimbursement. This is one of the most unprofessional companies I have ever had to deal with.

So  AHG just had the company from the first AC repair company that did not show up just called me to apologize. But not one person from AHG has ever apologized to me or my wife. I will be changing companies.

AHS is absolutely the worst company I have ever dealt with. We need a new air conditioning unit. The contractor AHS sent us wants to charge us $250 for a permit that costs $105, $200 for a drain pan that costs $50, and $385 to change out perfectly good duct work (instead of finding a unit that fits the existing duct work). We also paid a $75 service fee. So, AHS is expecting us to pay $910, for this unit , after charging over $700 a year for the policy, which most years, we don't use. When we complained about how much the contractor, that AHS CHOSE, was jacking up its prices, all I got was basically a too bad, so sad.    I was told I could have another contractor come out and look at the unit, for an additional $75 work fee. Customer service was wholly unhelpful. Do not give one penny of your money to this company.

Absolutely Pathetic. Avoid at all costs. They send you forms to fill instead of sending a technician. No technician called even after a week for the HVAC problem that was reported and they started lying that a technician called and got disconnected phone message. My phone was working and receiving multiple calls daily during the time. All bunch of lies.
Avoid this company. Informing state AG to investigate this fraudulent company

Wow - please don't waste your money!!! The WORST customer service, they will not pay, deny your claim and give you the runaround.  I am on hold right now on 2 different lines just trying to cancel my policy.  42 minutes on the first line and 14 on the second. This company is a JOKE.  Update:  second line answered and I was able to cancel my policy.  BTW - first line is at 51 minutes and still playing the background music.....

This is the absolute worse company I have ever felt with and I do not recommend them to anyone.first the person on the other end makes the determination whether or not someone is sent out they wait 4 hours to tell you that to place a claim you need to call thier office and pay and they do not send anyone if they think it's something you need to pay out of pocket. The customer service is rude and I say run do not walk before you sign a contract with these people.

I was having problems with my AC unit tripping the breaker. They sent out a handyman who said that he was AC repair and he told me that it needed a new breaker. Paid him his service fee. American home guardian said that I needed to pay another service fee for the electrical service call. I had no choice either pay or no work done. By the way, I live in Las Vegas, and it has been 115 everyday if not hotter. The Electrical worker said it was the AC unit issue, but he replaced the breaker to collect the service fee. Now my AC is not working and no one will be in until after the holiday. I agree with Shawn H, I would rate them below negative stars. I will not either go into the problems I had with them when I first signed the contract. Javier is worst supervisor for them, knows nothing about customer service. I asked for someone to call me back about my issues, and no one did. I only wished that the company was in Las Vegas, not in Az.

I have had AHG at my personal properties as well as rental properties since the company started As I realtor, I provide this as well as request it for my buyers. I have had nothing but GREAT experiences. If you read your contract, you know exactly what is covered and what is not. I highly recommend this company and the Sonoran Home Services 5-star upgrade.

American Home Guardian dodged my claim too.  It was as legit as they come, clearly covered by the contract, and they just simply refused to pay it.  They have a really good business model.. collect premiums, pay no claims.

I contacted the AZ Attorney General, who was sympathetic, but claimed they AHG is not a insurance company, and therefore not regulated.  Buyer beware.

I filed a complaint with the BBB, and American Home Guardian lied to them about the circumstances, and the issue was closed as not resolvable.  The BBB favors businesses, not individuals.

If I lived in AZ, we would be in court in a heartbeat, but I can't justify flying there for this, though I'm tempted.

So frustrating.

no stars for me but one has to give a star to review. long waits on phone, long waits for everything, no service providers, service providers that do not show up and money continues to be taken from my account for a visit that never happened. I tried to get my bank account off online and it can't be done. TERRIBLE, hours and days on the phone. may I say again, TERRIBLE experiences! On the phone waiting for half an hour to cancel a policy I never renewed and trying to get money back bc I can't remove my bank account online.

My husband and I recently moved to Queen Creek, Arizona and purchased a beautiful home. We also have a home warranty from AHG Home Warranty. Shortly after we moved in, our air conditioner stopped working so we called AHG on 7/16/17 to get it fixed.

They asked for our home inspection report and we submitted it to them for approval. On 7/17/17, they approved the work order as yes, we are covered. On 7/18/17, the repair company came out and said we need to order a new blower for the unit.

That day, I followed up with Yesenia (the manager) and left a voicemail to confirm that the part was ordered. She called me back on 7/19/17 and said that she ordered the part but it would take five to seven business days to receive.

It's currently 110 degrees here in the valley and five to seven days seemed too long to wait without air conditioning. Yesenia was very rude and sarcastic and said that there was nothing she could do to speed up the process.

I took it upon myself to find the part and called a couple of local, wholesale parts dealers. I found the part at Siegler parts but of course, I could not order it since they only sell to companies.

I contacted Yesenia several times but she ignored by emails and phone calls. Since it was clear that I would get no help from Yesenia, on 7/20/17, I called Josh, the regional sales manager. He said he could help me.

The next day, on 7/21/17, I received a text message from Josh that the part had been ordered, paid for, and was ready for pick-up by the repair company. On Monday, 7/24/17, I called the repair company to schedule an appointment to install the new blower.

They were scheduled to come out on 7/26/17 between 12-3pm. The repair company went to pick up the part that afternoon however, it turns out that Yesenia never ordered it. I spoke with her that nice, shortly after 5pm, and she assured me that she would order the correct part the next day (7/27/17).

Naturally, I was very upset, so I called Josh however, he didn't answer my phone call. He texted me back and said that he could not help me since he was busy with his three-year-old. Instead, he suggested that I speak with Scott, a customer service manager.

On 7/27/17, I was able to speak with Scott and he was very nice and apologized for all my troubles. He promised to personally take care of the problem and told me that he ordered and paid for the new part. The repair company scheduled an appointment to come out and install the new part on 7/29/17.

I spoke with Scott over the phone on 7/28/17 and he assured me that everything was ready to go - the part was ordered, paid for, and ready for pickup. When the technician went to pick up the new part on 7/29/17, it turns out that the wrong part was ordered.

It appears that a much cheaper version of the part was ordered - a version that wouldn't even fit in our air conditioning unit! This was now the second time that the repair company went out of their way to pick up a part that either wasn't ordered or was completely wrong.

As of now, the repair company (which has been very helpful throughout this whole ordeal with AHG Home Warranty) ordered the correct part for our air conditioner. It is supposed to arrive sometime next week.

At this point, it will likely be 3+ weeks that we will be living in 110+ degree heat without a working air conditioner.

Please don't use this company. The worse possible service ever! No matter how high up the chain I went to get my air conditioner fixed, they just don't care. This is a complete scam! I hope no one has to go through the ordeal I'm currently in. AHG Home Warranty needs to be shut down.

If I could give less than 1 star, I would. Our realtor bought us this warranty. After closing and doing some remodeling, our plumber discovered that the main sewer line was rotted. It was cast iron from 1963, and was corroded away. After calling AHG, they denied the claim based on our description. Never sent someone out to look at it. They stated because the home inspector stated the bathtub drained slow, they are denying the claim. No appeals, not willing to send anyone to look at it to see that it wasn't collapsed at the time of the inspection, it is completely rotted. Now I have to pull a tub, jackhammer out the old line, dig half way to hades, and replace my entire sewer line. And they said they were sorry......

Horrible Company, horrible customer service. They canceled my contact early without my approval or knowledge and they charged me $86 due to the early cancelation when they are the ones who canceled it. DO NOT USE this company. I had nothing but a horrible experience every time I called them. Now, I have to pay them for them canceling my policy. They want to use loop holes in the T's and C's to their benefit but ignore the T's and C's when it doesn't benefit them. Unethical company with horrible customer service!

I've had American home Shield warranty for 11 months now. I've never used it or ever thought about calling for a problem until today. My water heater which is 11 years old is popping and leaking, so I figured I'd give the warrantee a call I need to send somebody out to look at it and they did. After the contractor guy deer and looked at my water heater is said yes it needed to be replaced, he started the calculations they would come out of my pocket was around $650, and American Shield would cover  cost of the water heater and that is it. I paid $800 for this water heater new and installed it myself now I'm going to end up having to come out of my pocket about $650 and they will do the installation I could buy a water heater for $800 install it myself and I think it a money ahead so I'm not real happy with American home Shield warranty, contractors, and anything to do with them. Buyer beware read the comments all over the Internet on American home Shield warranty's and be careful they're probably not any different than any other one they're all lousy. I wish you luck don't waste your money

STAY AWAY.  The sales person (Tom) sold us on the fact that they provide coverage for our location and it covers the parts, labor, repair.  This company is running a scam.  We called on Dec 7 to have our refrigerator repaired under this policy.  They  advised we would receive an email assigning a servicer/technician.  We called again the next day and they finally sent the email assigning a technician.  This letter stated that the technician would come out for repair and our only cost was $45 service fee.  At their recommendation, we called the servicer to expedite service.  The servicer advised they did not have a contract in place with American Home Guard Warranty.  I called back every day for the next week and Earl from dispatch began his story from the fact that he was working on finding a servicer to accept their contract to then stating that all servicers are booked and he can't give me a repair date.  After consistent calling, they authorized me to call a local technician and they would cover the cost minus my service fee ($45).   We actually called the original servicer who came out the very next day - imagine that.  The service technician diagnosed the problem and in following AHG request, I called to get authorization for expense.  This is when they inform me that the part and tax are approved less my service fee.  The service charge for coming out is not covered because I called them despite them authorizing.  Then the labor  to fix the system is not covered because they call this installation which is not covered.  They took me to the clause in the contract (41d) that reads as follows: This policy covers mechanical breakdowns, it does not cover shelves, door handles, doors, hinges, knobs and buttons, door seals, displays, latches, timers, leveling equipment, clogged drains or lines, cosmetic issues, gaskets, coils, leak searches, lights, noise, refrigerants, valves, dispensers, installation, electrical failures.   Can you find the hidden word?  Installation in the middle of physical parts. Total deceit.  And recall, the original email they sent me stated I only had to pay $45.  STAY AWAY....Earl tried to come across as trying to help me, but he was just being dishonest and no follow through on any commitments he made.  Had to call every day to get something done.

DO NOT BUY THIS WARRANTY! Go with HWA or a more established company.  I switched to AHG after 3 years with HWA (Realator suggestion) and it's been a nightmare.
They will NOT cover any repairs with the deductible as promised in the contract.  Please save your money and trust the reviews.

Had policy with them for more than 2 years.  First time I invoke their services for water heater leak and the experience with them was a nightmare.   The contractor that they sent asked for $1400 to fix the issue with 50% down payment immediately.  I paid and after talking to my neighbor realized that they were charging me exorbitant amount.  I cancelled the services with the contractor immediately    When I talked to AHS they offered me cash payout of $400 (I had already paid them $107 for their initial assessment).   It was a big hassle to get the refund from their contractor.   Number of calls , holds with AHS and the contractor made my first service call truly horrible experience.   Cancellation of policy was also not a very easy process.  They keep you on hold or keep transferrring to other departments who never pick up the phone.  Overall awful experience...They don't deserve even 1 star.

I've been using ahg for a couple years on 3 properties that I own. For the first year, I had no issues. I had a couple repair requests, and they were handled with no issues. When it came time to renew one of my policies they called to ask if I wanted to renew. When I said yes, they took it upon themselves to renew me with the 5 star upgrade and renewed the wrong property. When I brought this to their attention, instead of changing the policy address and refunding the 5 star upgrade, they just recharged me for a whole new policy less the 5 star upgrade. So now I've been charged nearly $800 for the one policy I was renewing. When I called about this their response was well we didn't refund the policy that we accidentally renewed since its also due to be renewed in a month anyway. When I told them this was credit card fraud since they never got my permission to do this, they refunded me the initial charge after a 5 day wait.

I gave them the benefit of the doubt and kept my policies with them. But the latest issue I've had is with a plumbing service call I just had done. I called it in, paid the $55 service fee and the plumber showed up. They promptly told me that the blockage I called about isn't covered by ahg. Ok, no problem. I proceeded to pay the plumber out of pocket for the repairs. The total came to $229. When
I asked the plumber if that was less the $55 I already paid, I was told no, that money goes to ahg and they keep it regardless if it's a covered repair or not. When I called ahg, they confirmed this and said that the $55 is their fee to dispatch the call regardless if it's a covered repair or not. They said their contract clearly calls it a fee, not a deductable. So I basically threw that $55 away on the gamble that the repair would be covered.

I give them 2 stars since they started off as a very good company that did promptly cover the repairs in their contract. But they are quickly approaching 1 star level with their approach of ripping their customers off and hiding behind their vague contract language to justify it.

I think when my other policies expire, I will be looking to switch to another warranty company.

Crooks and liars. They wont let you cancel because they have no customer service email and the phone number they provide makes you wait on hold for 45+minutes. No way to cancel. The only thing you can do it set up an appointment to have someone come to your house and ask them to cancel the service!!!!

This company is awful. On two separate tickets, I have wasted weeks going back and forth with AHG fighting for them to honor my coverage. Both times, I lost.
Not only was the initial coverage payment wasted, but we also threw away hundreds more in laundry  services, taking time off work, etc. waiting for AHG to follow through on anything.
Simply awful. A waste of money. You're literally rally better off just saving the premium, because you're going to have to pay out of pocket anyway.

Incompetent, Deceptive, Disorganized

DO YOUR HOMEWORK FIRST AND SELECT A WARRANTY CO WITH GOOD REVIEWS OR YOU'LL BE SORRY.

What a nightmare!  They never sent us our contract despite requests by phone and writing.  Then, months later they denied a claim saying the appliance was a brand not covered even though the service item was listed as covered on our confirmation email (which they said was not the actual contract, but just a confirmation email...hmmm.)  They had to come out MULTIPLE times to make a repair of the same appliance and the repairman was so incompetent that he had to look up online how to repair it...scary!   Sometimes it takes multiple calls to get them out.  When you call to schedule work, they actually just take your info and then tell you to wait for another department to call you and this may or may not actually happen.

Before I wrote this I wondered, do only irritated customers review home warranty companies...are there any with good reviews?  I googled Arizona home warranty companies and found one called OneGuard and it had much better yelp reviews.  I plan to give them a shot when my contract expires with these goofballs.

Our hot tub water heater broke. It's covered under our warranty as it is an in ground hot tub. We spent the first week being referred to different contractors who all called and said, nope we don't fix that. We finally got a contractor  out (4th try) and he said, yep clear and covered problem, we'll be back next week to replace. The next week we found out that the person who was assigned to approve this had a death in the family and just left town and they didn't think anyone needed to do her job while she was gone. We finally got the approval. The guy has the part ordered and is going to come back the next day. The next day he calls and says 'whoops the part is no longer made, we need approval for either a smaller or bigger one. Two days later and now we are dealing with the cash department because they claim that to fix the part we would need a modification and that is not covered and so they aren't going to fix it. We do not understand how they can get away with this and are talking to a lawyer. Hold times are always over 30 minutes, the people you talk to are just flat out rude, and this has been an absolute nightmare. Find another company. This one doesn't know what they are doing and they certainly don't care.

OMG this company will lie to you, their contract is not as it says,Had a hot water heater leaking and flooded garage and it took them 3 days to do anything, then had to get my own plumber  because it was going to be another 2 days before they could fix it, So I had to pay to have it replaced out of my own pocket and they charged me the $55.00 deductible and another $150.00 for hour diagnostics which there tech was here 20 minutes and all he did was bad mouth AHG.And I still dont have a check from them, that was almost 3weeks ago,Called Monday was told it had been mailed on Monday, called today (Friday) and was told it was mailed Tuesday, think its called stalling. And when they cant fix something they replace it with construction grade not  anything  close to what you have.
I am canceling my account  and I was also told I would have a cancellation free. beware this company it is BAD, going back to my old company they treat you like their contract says!!!!!! BEWARE!!!!!

After using American Home Guardian for several years, the management under Javier Mendez has ruined this company.  I have had a continuing problem with my kitchen refrigerator, and after sending a string of repairmen, some qualified ( Sears) some not at all (Smiths appliance repair), it is still not fixed.

After so many repairs per the contract, they are supposed to call it a loss and replace the product up to what SHP says is the replacement value (Mr Mendez never told me what that value was even after 9 repairs).   In my case they did not want to pay for a replacement, so they just changed the designation of my Jennair built in and said it was a heavy duty commercial appliance, and therefore not covered under the contract.  They went on to tell me that I should be thankful that they even paid for 1 repair.  I called Jennair, and they told me that in fact, my model was not a heavy-duty or commercial model.

All attempts to relay this to Mr Mendez, and his assistant Felicia Powers, were ignored.  All attempts to find out what limits there would be on my other appliances were simply ignored.

Sonoran Home Protection is a terrible company.  Customer service is rude, and they will try to weasel out of every part of their contract.  I think their motto is Deny, deny and deny the claim until the customer is worn out.

Do not waste your time with this crooked company.

They are also known as Sonoran Home Protection

I have NOT been paid or influenced in any way to write this.  But seeing all the negative reviews bothers me greatly.  I chose AHG because they are local to where I live in the east valley.  Over 6 years they have been nothing but responsive to my needs.  Repairs are done in an orderly fashion, and their service people have been super to deal with -many giving me their cell number to call if there is an issue.  Good people.  Lets be honest, things are not made as well as they used to be, so things break a lot more and more often.  It is not the fault of the warranty company.  I think people forget that fact.

All I can say is they are local, responsive, and have never let me down.  The people I have dealt with are incredibly nice and friendly and try to settle things quickly.  I will never go somewhere else.

They have tried to fix a plumbing issue for now officially 4 days. And they keep on putting me on hold when I call which is an hour at a time I've called them a total of 5 times. This is the worst Warranty company that I have ever dealt with.

I have been a customer of AHG for almost 10 years with 2 properties. Use to have no problems but now it is a crap shoot at best dealing with them. If you call and make a service request on the weekend they wil not dispatch or call back till Monday which is written n the contract and is what it is. I had an A/C go out and called and they said no one could even look at it for 4 days. Mind you this is in the middle of August. So then they tell you that you acn  hire someone than submit it to AHG for reimbursement. Got a contractor over and found that the blower was blown and it would be 750.00 to fix. Submitted this over to AHG and they reimbursed 250.00. When I questioned them on this as they were the ones that told me to find a local contractor and submit they said they are sorry but there is nothing they can do.  Paid them over 10K for the past 10 years and this is what you get. Lesson learned by me so please run and  don't walk if you are thinking of using this company.

I renewed my annual warranty and needed a simple repair on a microwave.  After 3 request submissions and phone discussions with customer service, they never sent a contractor out.  They blamed their internal software, but I talked to people, and it was still not resolved.  And that is not the problem.  I decided to cancel this renewal when I could not get the service call to my house.  Even though I explained the situation on my cancellation letter, they still charged me the 15% cancellation fee.  PLUS, they pro-rated the cost of the warranty for the 80 days that it was in effect, even though they never honored it by sending a contractor out.  Don't bother complaining to BBB.  If they are a paid member (and AHG is), you are not likely to get an objective answer.

This company needs to greatly improve on customer service. The employees answering the phones are extremely rude and act as if they could care less about helping you.

American Home Guardian Home Warranty Insurance Company refuses to accept any responsibility for damage caused by the incompetence, ineptness and/or inexperience of the subcontractors they assign to address the service request of a policy holder. What this means is that after you pay a service fee to American Home Guardian to dispatch a repair/service person to your home to resolve the problem you have reported to them, the service person can break appliances and cause other damage to your home with impunity. Your only recourse would be to sue the service person. Relying on American Home Guardian to send out a competent, experienced service person to solve your problem under the terms of your home warranty insurance policy is nothing other than rolling the dice. You pays your money and you takes your chances. Avoid this company. There are better companies out there to warranty your home appliances, etc.

I would actually rate American Home Guardian (AHG) with zero stars if it were possible.  This company is a complete scam.  Our air conditioning went out on our house last Friday (5/17/13).  We called to have a service person come out.  The people that were supposed to come out never called us back.  When I finally figured out who they were, they promptly told me the earliest they could come out would be on Monday.  I called back again and they had another person come out.  Keep in mind that every time you call you get put on hold for a minimum of ten minutes.
The service person looked at the condenser unit on the side of the house and told us that the condenser had burned out and needed to be replaced.  I asked about the unit in the attic and he told us that he couldn't check that because the condenser wasn't working.  I was later informed the upstairs unit, if it had problems, would have to be another claim for another $55.  I thought the complete air system was one item.
Then I asked about having the entire unit replaced instead of just having the part replaced as the unit was about 12 years old.  They couldn't give me the invoice from the contractor, but somehow knew I'd owe the contractor $165 for non-covered items under the contract like haul away, Freon fill, labor, etc.  And anything else the contractor decides is non covered.  I deal with contracts at my job and I never agree to anything without a contract stating what's going to be done, for how much, and when;  Otherwise, you're just setting yourself up to get screwed.  I had no idea what I was getting installed, if the unit was equivalent to what they were replacing, what brand it was, how much the contractor was going to charge to put it in, and when it was going to be installed.
Then the AHG agent had the audacity to tell me I was holding up the process because I couldn't make a decision when they can't seem to give me enough information to make a decision.
After another day, I found they had to deduct the repair cost from the replacement cost and I was told it would cost me $175 to replace the unit.  To replace the part in the old unit was $165 so having a new unit for $10 more was a no brainer for me.  Another day goes by and I finally get them to give me something in writing as to what I'm going to owe after the new unit is installed.  Two hours before the guy is supposed to show up to install the unit, the warranty place frantically calls me back to tell me they forgot to include $250 in labor charges in what I would owe.  So now I'm up to owing this contractor $425.
I reluctantly agree because it's been almost a full 7 days at this point in the process.  When I show up to the house, the unit is quickly being installed and I noticed the unit looks like it's been dropped and has a huge dent in the side of it.  I told them I wasn't going to accept this as a new unit and that they needed to pull it out and get me one that wasn't damaged.  They promise me they'd be back the next day.  Keep in mind we've taken about four days of vacation by this point as they routinely show up 3-4 hours late, if at all from when they say they will show up.
The next day waiting for them to show up, the contractor calls to tell me that the store wouldn't return the unit because it was damaged and had been installed.  He tells me he can't afford to take the hit on the damaged unit and asks if I'll just take it if he agrees to take $100 off of the price.  I told him no because it was dropped and probably had damage to the unit.  The unit had been dented in enough to bend the coils and scratch them up.  The outside casing has obviously been bent back into shape to cover the damage to the unit.
I called back AHG to tell them the contractor basically walked from the job and here I am 7 days later at the same place I started, with no air conditioning.  Air Mechanical was the name of the company and the person I dealt with was Luis Alberto Cruz.  Don't use this company based out of Frisco, Texas.  I talked with the majority of the staff from AHG including Monnie, Alisha, Marti, and who claimed to be the manager, a male named Jaime or something like that.  Don't use this company.  They do whatever they can to not fix what they're supposed to fix.  They won't give you information on what they're going to do to fix the problem so you don't get any say as to what's done to your house.  They're rude, incompetent, and a complete waste of time and money.  In fact, with all the time I spent doing their job calling back and forth, they should be paying me for my time.  I hope this company loses a lot of business and goes bankrupt because it's a shame that companies like this can take advantage of their customers.  I've told our real estate agent to not refer this company ever again and I plan to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.  Save yourself a lot of grief, time, and money and don't ever deal with AHG or Air Mechanical.

Terrible company!!! I called to report I had one of my pool pumps out. I specifically told them it was designated for the waterfall. They were quick to say yes it's covered and collect my $65 service fee. The pool repair guy came out a few days later, determined the pump was bad, and called in to authorize a replacement. Daryl from AHG refused the repair and said the secondary pump was NOT covered. I specifically told Daryl that I told the rep it was my secondary pump and she assured me it was covered. Daryl continued to deny the claim. I called Daryl again and he assured me he would speak to his supervisor (the next day) and get my money refunded that was extorted from me. Daryl assured me he would call back. Well, of course, he never did. And after several calls and messages he still refused to return my call. I contacted my credit card company who was more than willing to refund and dispute the charge. Shout out to CITIbank for stepping up. I was fully refunded and disputed my $65 fee. AHG still refused to return any money. Stay away from this terrible company. Choose anyone else except for AHG for a home warranty

Don't go with AHG.  First of all they are only open Monday through Friday.  If something happens over the weekend you can't even contact them until Monday.  You can go online over the weekend but they don't contact you until later Monday morning.  You are better off just calling first thing Monday morning.  They will try their best not to cover what needs to be fixed. The average time for them to come out for a service call is 3 days.  Not good if your freezer goes out or your central air stops working both has happen to me.  Lately my washer stopped working and it was going to be six days before they could send somebody out. There are 8 people in my household which includes  five children that have a lot of accidents.  I ask them why it  was going to take so long.  They said they have a lot of people on vacation this week.  I said for get about it and paid someone the next day to fix my washer. I'm changing to a company that has 24/7 customer service.  Hopefully they will be better.

Read your contract, and don't believe in a word they tell you otherwise.
I switched to them from AHS the second year I bought my house - AHS was too expensive. I guess all the warranty companies are pretty much the same, though I had no issues with AHS.
I researched for about two weeks before deciding on AHG based on their competitive pricing, and what they told me over email, assuring me that even in the case of my 20 year old home's HVAC breaking down, they would pay up to (yeah, watch that up to) $5000 instead of only a fraction of what's required to repair or replace it. They bragged about how no one else goes that high. So long as I purchase the platinum protection plan.
Well, unlike what they had told me, when my heat broke down 3 months after contracting with them, they would only pay $900 instead of $2000 because they had decided to cut me a check instead of replacing or repairing it. However, since they decide to cut me a check, they could just give me a depreciated amount. Wow, what a way to weasel out of things.
I sent a complaint to Better Business Bureau and they ignored me for the whole 30 days of it. I waited for them to reply patiently since BBB allows the 30 days for companies to respond. When I wrote to AHG asking why they had ignored my complaint, they completely denied it and called me a liar, forcing BBB to give up on the case. Lucky for them, this did not put a dent on their rating.
I ended up filing a small claims court suit, but I couldn't afford a lawyer so I had to fight for myself. Unfortunately, all the email communication with them were not considered legal documents, so despite all their lying and rudeness (the company president, Chad, was quite unprofessional, despite my keeping myself under control, but that's an issue no law suit can fix) I could not make the right happen. On the bright side, even though they tried making me pay or their lawyer, the judge did not think my suit was frivolous, and allowed me to ask for that $900 check to be reissued since it had expired by the time the lawsuit was done (took over a year).
Bottom line, they may be worth it if you don' t expect quality or greatness, but don't expect them to cover your loss if it's something you're not willing to pay yourself.

I was very disappointed with the way AHG handled my air conditioning system problem. Sonoran Home Services came out for repair and spent 2.5 hours doing nothing but adding 2 pounds of coolant (cost me $100 for the service fee and coolant). That did nothing to cool down my unit. I had very little confidence in the service man as he did not seem to know what to do and mostly sat for those 2.5 hours. There was no improvement in cooling. Several days later, a different service man (I requested someone else) came out and said I had a bad reversing valve. Not sure why the first guy did not see that. AHG picked up the charge for the valve and labor and I had to pay $370 for another service fee and a complete recharge. Still not cooling any better. I decided to buy a completely new unit as the A/C is 17 years old. I talked with AHG and they put me on hold to talk to the manager about me getting some compensation for a new unit (I knew they would not pay right out for a new unit and did not want to go through Sonoran Home Services for a purchase). The manager was conveniently on another line. I was told there would be a call-back right away after the manager was appraised of the situation. That was 3 days ago. I would never trust this company with an A/C unit again. Their practices are also shady. AHG owns Sonoran Home Services, which to me, is also odd. I am sure it saves them a lot of money to also own the service company (A/C, plumbing, and small appliiance repair) but beware the level of expertise the employees have.

They claim to be customers chose number one but the reality is far from it.
The customer service is really bad, you are on hold for at least 5 minutes till they get to you, you ask for manager @2 PM they say he is gone home you leave massage on his phone he will not return your phone call back. I even made trip to their office 10 AM and asked them why no one is calling me back they said we have not checked our massage yet. They run their own service department 4 people are running that but unfortunately even though the technicians try very hard to be nice and fix the issue but they are nothing more than handyman often they have to call another guru to get advice for how to fix a leaking faucet or pool pump. I made mistake I thought I will support local business and save few dollar but they are not qualified to do the job they are cheap company who try to cheat people for any reason that they can getaway
with. Pay $20 more and chose another company don't be fool like me and risk your quality service for cheap price, they should not be in business. I give them one star since there are no negative star.
Very unhappy customer

We bought our home Dec 2015, the seller paid 800 for us to have this home warranty company.
June 2016 our water heater flooded the garage, I called AHG and paid $65 for them to come out and fix it. They said it was because of rust damage and our policy doesn't cover rust damage to a water heater, so we went to Lowes and paid $500 for a new one.
December 2016 AHG contacted us to renew out policy, we told them we were unsure since we had issues with our water heater getting covered and she talked us into purchasing their 5 star plan, that would have covered the rust damage and would include our pool. So we agreed to buy their so called 5 star plan for $99 a month.
December 2016, a few weeks after renewing our plan, our pool pump goes out. Again we paid $65 for them yo dispatch someone. We have a scheduled pool party for New Years (our pool is heated) and they can't get the pump replaced until January. They told my husband he can get someone else to do it and just fill out a bunch of reimbursement paperwork and they would refund us for the pump and labor. We got a company to put in a new pump almost $600 later and AhG denies our reimbursement because they are not an authorized company.
November 2017 our kitchen sink sprung a huge leak damaging the cabinets etc. Paid $65 for dispatch. After the plumber comes and wait 4 days, I finally call AHG to see if they approved the claim. They told me they do not cover the sink we have with a pull out faucet and if we want it replaced we have to pay them an additional $160!!! I checked online at homedepot.com and my same sink, same brand and all is only $130!!
We will not be renewing with them again, with the 99 dollars we pay them a month can go into a savings account for home repairs and we will have $1,200 a year plus the $65 each time they are dispatched to tell us no they won't cover it, not to mention the amount we spend on the parts ourselves.
AHG is a total crook!!

I cancelled my contact and they slammed me with a huge cancellation fee.  Not a fee based on the number of months remaining on the contract, but based on the entirety of the contract.  So if you are unhappy with them, and you want to cancel because their service sucks (and it does), they will slam you with a charge of almost $170 to get out of your contract.  Never mind that you paid them $64.99 for eight months and the first time you tried to use the service they lie to you - yes they lied and said the parts to fix my microwave were no longer being manufactured.  Called Samsung and they said they WERE ABSOLUTELY available, gave me the number of the store that sells them, too - and then was told that the REAL reason they weren't going to fix it is because they didn't want to spend the money it would have cost, and then they fobbed me off with the promise of a $100 gift card - which I still have not received.

So after paying them a total of $689.92, they give me a $100 gift card.  I'd call that a good day for them.  Not so much for me.  By the way...replacing the microwave would have cost them $250.  They wouldn't even do that.  Furthermore, if you read the reviews of this company, I am only one of many, many, many unhappy customers.  This company is the worst...the absolute worst.  They send unqualified repairmen to your house, you have to pay the housecall fee up front, and you might as well light the money on fire because you get nothing for it except we can't find the parts (fingers crossed behind the back) so sorry... better luck next time.

Do business with this disreputable company at your own risk.  You will not be satisfied.  Don't believe the so-called awards they claim they've received.  It's a joke.  A MUCH better company is American Home Shield.  No long contracts, everything is covered, drop them whenever you want if you're not satisfied.  NOT like this rip off of a company that never sends you the contract - NEVER SENDS YOU THE CONTRACT.  You sign online and you're stuck for 18 months.  Or they rob you blind.

this review was originally posted on Google. However after continued poor service i feel the review would be more helpful to others if posted to multiple forums.
EDIT: I sent in the required documentation on September 8th.  I received a confirmation email saying you allow 7-10 days to receive my reimbursement from them. I waited until October 4th to receive my check and then I called. Again the agent did not provide her name and instead of addressing my concern she addressed the fact I have not updated my review. After having to argue with her that I did in fact send in my paperwork as required I was not offered an apology when she looked in the correct email in box.   Instead i was told she would go talk to the person in charge of sending out checks but she's the busiest person in the office, I hope she doesn't yell at me. I'm willing to do this for you even though sometimes customers can be irrational, I'm willing to do this for you.
Still waiting for payment, told I'm irrational for expecting them to follow through on their promises, and no communication. So here's the updated review they asked for.  During earlier conversations I was asked to remove or update my review so they could complete my claim. I told them that sounded like they weren't going to pay the claim unless i removed it.  I was assured verbally that was not the case but since they bring up the review every time I call and I haven't receive reimbursement I'm thinking that was an ultimatum.
Congratulations, you went from 2 stars to 1 and my next call is to the Idaho Better Business Bureau and then the Idaho Attorney General's office.

I paid for two years of warranty coverage in full, over one year ago. I now have a covered system issue. I have made 4 phone calls, had my plumber call, with no response and it has been almost a full month since my first contact with their office. Agents are friendly but not helpful with providing instructions on steps to take to get repairs completed.
I now have an email into the company, because when I call, I am transferred to an answering service. Not very professional. Considering canceling my policy and going with another company.
I will edit this review once the issue is resolved to my satisfaction.

This has to be the worst warranty company EVER!!!!!!  They systematically make sure you don't receive your check if you ask for a refund. I beg you if you have a choice don't ever use this company.

On top of which if you ever have the pleasure of dealing with a complete buffoon named Britney Bond I wish you the best of luck. This lady has the nerve to tell me I owe AHG money and they are lucky to not sue me for it! WTF when I hung up on Ms. Bitch I mean Bond. Another man confirmed  that  I in fact was entitled to a $800.00 refund. Never I mean ever use this company.

I would go zero as well if that was an option.  What a joke.  I was a customer for over 5+ years in a house that had no issues except for last year.  Guess what? Not only did they not contact me to renew but when I ontacted them they had decided that management did not want to renew my policy  I was allegedly informed via email which is BS because I religously check spam for instances like this.  I thought I had been auto renewed as I had been in the past.  Instead no call no write just dropped us.  When I call to file a claim I am told no policy.  Let me tell you the work wasn't that great and is all a scam set up through their Sonoran services company which does the repairs and shotty at best.  I have since switched my other home to Choice home warranty which is a national company that costs less and actually answers their calls.  I have had nothing but a great experience with them so far.  My recomendation is to check them out instead.  Choicehomewarranty.com

Worst company I've EVER dealt with. They are completely unethical and lie every opportunity they get. They approved (multiple times) a repair for our oven in February and when I filed a complaint with the BBB a couple months later for another issue, the next day they said they no longer covered the oven repair back in February and issued me with an invoice of over $700 in new charges. When I filed a complaint with the Arizona Attorney General and the BBB their response was once again full of lies and said that my call was for a contractor referral only. I immediately cancelled my contract and they took the oven repair charges out of my refund check. This company is SO awful. We have paid them over $1100 for our warranty services, and not only did they refuse to repair covered items, but after we cancelled our contract we received a refund check for $282 for barely 3 months of coverage. This company is a complete scam! Stay away!

Never had to use their service while I was a customer... but wanted to share how well they response to their customers when they try and cancel for ligament reason. Only took over 6 attempts and they still made it look like I was at fault for not canceling my account. I have been with this company for a couple of years, had a problem with my garage door opener failing to open, they sent out a tech who un plugged the electrical connection and plugged it back in, the garage door worked.  This cost me $55 for a service call.  It happen again the garage door would not work so I called and the tech said the mother board had a problem and would try to get the opener replaced.  I was told by AHG it would have to completely fail before they could do anything, another $55 dollars down the drain.  The two service calls was enough to cover a new garage door opener.  Time to find a company who has my satisfaction and interest in mind.

I regret buying this warranty from this company. I bought the Guardian coverage, the highest one. I had 2 older  toilets that constantly ran and couldn't figure out a fix.  AHG charged me TWO $65 service charges to have one plumber come out and look at the 2 toilets at the same time. On top of that I had a leaking clothes washer and they charged me $65 to have someone come take a look, said it wasn't water lines and that I would have to pay ANOTHER $65 to have same guy, same visit check the clothes washer. Ridiculous! Save your money and go with a company that has a more reasonable service charge. The customer service rep Javon was very rude when I voiced my concerns about being charged twice for checking 2 toilets for the same issues.

I have carried this insurance since 2008 when we purchased our home.  Each year they have gotten progressively worse.  The last two times I have used them are perfect examples: 1) Problems with our garbage disposal-Sent someone out that really had never dealt with them before and really did not know much about home warranties. Did not even leave a receipt. When I called AHG requesting one they seemed not to care-I finally received one from the plumber that stated only install new G-Disposal. Don't know if this will actually suffice for the warranty on the disposal? 2) Problems with our spa-AHG could find no one to service our model so per their contract we got approval to call someone ourselves. Under the contract we were required to pay the full amount and submit the bill to them. It's now 7 weeks from the time I submitted the bill and have not received a penny. When I called them about it 3 weeks ago they said it could take up to 30 days?? I think 7 weeks is way beyond 30 days!

This company is a complete fraud. When I signed up with this company, no one told me that I am signing up for 1 year contract and there will be 1 month admin fees charge if i cancel it before 1 year. When I was cancelling the contract, no one told me that i will be charged admin fees which is equal to 1 month fees. I was charged admin fees on credit card and I noticed. I called customer care about that and then they explained that this is admin fees. I asked why no one told me upfront. They told that its in the contract. The fact is I never received any contract till date. Rather, I called customer care 10 times asking them about contract since my account started and every time they told that I will receive contract in 24 to 48 hours which never happened. I just read the sample contract and it says that if I cancel the contract in 1 month, I will receive full refund and I canceled exactly on 1 month date and that is something they have in notes and now, they are saying the cancellation was processed 1 day after which is over 1 day. So, we cannot refund rather we will charge admin fees which sum up to 2 months fees. Apart from that, I asked them that I don't think I want to lose this money, I will not rather cancel the contract for now because it is 1 year which i just came to know, i will rather continue. Now, they say that we cannot renew as it has already been cancelled. What is going on in this company. Is it a joke?

I believe you have fraudulent charge practices at your company. Back in April 2017 I canceled my home warranty. But on 5/20/2017 I was charged my annual renewal, of which I disputed and received a refund for. Now on 5/20/2018, an entire year later, you have charged me AGAIN for a renewal of $714. I do not want a home warranty with you. I didn't want a home warranty with you last year either. How is my card still on file with you although I have disputed these charges and canceled my warranty? How many people do you charge their card hoping they won't notice? Shame on you.

I have worked for a property management company for over five years and I have NEVER found American Home Shield to be helpful when working with Property Managers. They can't seem to get the fact that we manage, there is an owner, and there is a TENANT. 99% of the time, their vendors call the owner and it often upsets them. Especially high powered busy owners that don't want to be bothered with the workings of their property. My call today 5/23/18 was with John and he couldn't even give me a credit card confirmation number from my charge! He was horrible and I told him that I prayed they were in fact recording the call! I HATE this company! I spent 30 minutes of my work day on that one call! AND..that's a SHORT call! Hold time is OFF THE CHARTS.  HORRIBLE COMPANY!  USE OLD REPUBLIC! And don't use one of their infant companies by mistake either!

We have had reasonably good service for a few minor repairs, like the garbage disposal and the microwave.  (Things that probably wouldn't cost that much more than the $55 service fee anyway.)  But a contractor never calls us within 4 business hours like they promise and AHG never reimburses $5 like their contract says they have to.

Also, even if you pay extra for the Platinum Protection, they don't cover commercial or heavy duty appliances--which include ANYTHING by Bosch, Samsung, or many others.  So none of our nice but ordinary residential appliances are covered.  At all.  That's totally infuriating, and takes away much of the value of a home warranty if few of your appliances fit their narrow definition of what an ordinary household appliance is.

And despite paying quite a bit extra for pool coverage, they apparently can't find a contractor who will work with them so we have to find one ourselves and then fill out incredibly painstaking reimbursement forms.  Moreover, since we are using our own contractor (as if we had a choice!) they will only reimburse certain amounts, all of which are well under what any contractor in our area will charge.  So basically we will have to pay at least half of our repairs out of pocket, even though we paid a $55 service fee AND paid for the stupid $640/year warranty in the first place.  And of course all of this only comes out after I spend hours on the phone on hold / calling contractors / etc.  AHG customer service reps are polite but do not return calls, and wait times are long.  If you manage to find an email address, they're also slow to respond to emails.

And if you're in central/eastern states, remember that Arizona doesn't have daylight savings time, so their business hours are incredibly inconvenient half the year.

If I could go back in time, I'd pay more and get American Home Shield.  Or I wouldn't get a home warranty at all.  ANYTHING but hiring these people again... they save me no money and cost me lots of time and frustration.

I just wanted to reach out let you all know my experience with American Home Guardian - Home Warrenty. AWEFUL! Do don't use them. Here's my story: My microwave broke and it cost $60 for them to come out and say it's a circuit board failure. AHG says it's 10yrs old, so it's not worth fixing, so here's $100 ( net = $40 ) I bought a new one at Best Buys for $169 and installed it myself. Dishwasher isssue and same thing, $60 service call. It's 10yrs old, so it's worth $120.  I fixed it with two new corner door seals and some epoxy glue.  $20 total cost to fix it ( net $60 ). Now the furnance heat comes on and off and it's cold here in Las Vegas at night. $60 service call and they say it's a circuit board. Next day after repair, same issue. New relay that next day ( no additional cost ).  13 days later same issue again, but I was gone 10 days during that time period, so i don't know if it ever relly worked again. They come out on a free followup call and it's another part this time ( 3 times now in 2 weeks ) gas valve issue now.  AHG calls and wants another $60 service call fee. AHG just keeps nickle and diming me over and over and thier customer service is aweful.  This is how its is in the contract section 2.6 and if you don't like it, to bad is their attitude.  That's what you always here from them.  I wished I would have went with the same company that has our rental.  Anytime anything goes wrong they fix or replace, no questions asked.   I just wanted you all to know my first hand experience with American Home Guardian.  Don't purchase their contract, shop for another company.

American Home Guardian has a poor service network in Texas.  They even admit so.

I filed a service request for a covered item, and was told that someone from their service network would contact me within 4 hours.  They did not, and after many calls to AHG (they never returned calls as promised), I eventually had the work done myself.

I filed a claim, which was approved and paid by AHG, but only $30 of a $160 bill because I didn't use their service network, and they claim that the labor and parts markups were too high.  Get your service people to respond, and I would have used them!

I recommend either self-insuring, or find a better home warranty firm.

Do not use this company. They install substandard parts. I am working on my third AC compressor in a week and a half. They refuse to help with this situation and keep blowing me off. The techs that come out to do the repair said that the compressor that they buy is a known POS. Their customer service says there is nothing they can do. I'm in Florida with 95 degree temps and they won't even try to expedite the part or purchase a reliable alternative part locally. I have been told the company would reach out to me and I haven't heard a word from them. When the next compressor dies I am going to take them to small claims court. I am losing time of from work for every repair they come out for. Avoid these people like the plague.

My Real Estate Agent suggested this company when I bought another home in Las Vegas.  I had used another company for many years with excellent results.  AHG is at the bottom of the pit and if there was a ZERO rating I would use it.  Very poor customer service and although I was told that taking the Elite Coverage all items would be covered except my pool.  Not true.  I first had an issue with a toilet leak from the Master bath which caused a lot of damage to the downstairs dining room ceiling and wall by the time it was detected.  Since the damage was noticed within 30 days of close of escrow there was no coverage.  My upstairs AC was not cooling and apparently needed Freon.  Again the gas was not covered although my Agent had been told that everything with the AC units was covered.  I have wasted my money on the lousy company and would recommend anyone looking for a home warranty stay far away from this piece of garbage.

I recently sold a home that was covered by AHS.  I called their customer service department to close the account so that I can get a pro-rated refund and was asked to send my closing statement to them.  After emailing them my closing document 4 times over a 3 week period I received no response whatsoever.  I called them several times and my last call to customer service was disconnected while I was put on hold.  Stay clear of this company!

still waiting for a reimbursement submitted in August 2017. i have no faith in this company's ability to fulfill its contract. there should be a class-action lawsuit against AHG!

i have read that instead of getting angry, file a small-claim lawsuit against AHG. there are plenty of information online. good luck, frustrated (ex-)policy holders!

AWFUL!!  I called requesting a service for a leak in my ceiling, clearly I am NOT the professional, so they told me I needed a plumber. Quality Plumbing &Rooter told me I had to wait until they would be in my area, I asked what should I do in the meantime if it keeps leaking? She said I don't know. (lovely that the plumbing company has no idea)
I waited 5 days for them. When he showed up he looked at ceiling and said oh, I can tell it's your a/c, went to attic, came back down and told us he couldn't fix it. 5 MINUTES!!  must be nice to get paid $65 for just 5 minutes of NOTHING!  AHG must stick to their contract verbage, every service request is $65, ok, I get that, but there was NO service!
When I spoke with an agent, he said, you would have better luck with your homeowners insurance, nice one! So what they for, again??

After almost 11 years as a customer. I have only ever filed a few claims. They are the worst! At customer service, I called last week to make sure I had water heater coverage. Yes, no problem said the call taker. So I paid the service fee, and five days later - FIVE, the guy comes out and says I think you're not covered. I've been TEN days with no water heater!!! And still don't know if it's getting replaced! I've paid over $5200 to them for the monthly fee for years, I should have just put the money in a savings account I could have had this done last week. I will tell everyone I know, every real estate agent, friend and social media....NEVER use this company. They're. Just fleecing you for money and fix NOTHING!!! Way to take advantage of good people.

Wish I would have researched this company before I signed with them and gave them money for a number of policies.  First off they only use one contractor to fix air conditioning and that's Sonoran.  Found out that AHG owns Sonoran so there is a major conflict of interest.  Wouldn't mind so much if they would have actually  fixed my air conditioner but it took over 3 weeks and they keep coming up with new reasons as to why it isn't  working.  The home warranty company now wants more money since they say we have reached our cap - this is without having actually fixed the problem!  Talked with owner, Chad, supervisor Javier and tech Juan and all are not owning up to the fact they don't know how to fix the problem!  This is a rental unit so we had to put our tenants up in a motel 5 times because of  this situation.   What a waste of time and money!   We finally had to go to a different company  (Air 1) not affiliated with AHG and pay out of pocket but it's working!  The new company came out and fixed it within 24 hours of my first call.  This review is for the Mesa, Arizona company only!

As a service provider for AHG I deal with a lot of their customers. Many times it seems that the homeowner has unrealistic expectations as to what their coverage is. Also, MANY of them are purchased by home sellers during a sale, KNOWING that there are issues with AC Plumbing Electrical ETC... 30 days latter that new homeowner calls in I have two AC units on my house and neither of them are working now  Tech goes out and finds two 20 plus year old systems with leaking indoor coils, and expects brand new systems. OR, they know they have major issues, signs up with home warranty company, wait 2 weeks then calls in expecting a 2000.00$ repair for a 50$ service fee. This company is no better or worse then any of the other warranty companies. I do grant that their phone system is terminal at best and needs to be seriously re designed to better serve the customer, but really customers need to understand exactly what their coverage is. I just did a job for them that George Brazil quoted for 2200.00$ ( this is average for this repair in Arizona ) that only cost the customer 65.00$ yes, the customer DID have to wait 7 business days for the part to come in, but saved 2135.00$ on this repair.

A horrible company. We have multiple income properties and we buy We buy Warranty coverage for two reasons: avoid huge repair bills and have a ready source of repair people. Tenants have a problem, we call AHG. We pay a service call fee and a person goes out. If covered they pay, if not, we do. Lately it's been horrible. House A, 12 yrs old, was purchased and seller required to provide warranty. We selected to add AHG to keepwith other properties and it;s supposed to be 'no 30 day waiting period'. We had a small repair after a couple of weeks, They insisted  upon Inspection  Report to be sure it wasn't a 'preexisting' condition. Took hem a week to review; we couldn't wait and paid $375 to fix

42  days later AC making noise; AHG Called. Pretty rude lady said if it was blowing old air they  wouldn't come out. It's August in AZ. We call tech out at our expense and indicated a potential serious problem but AHG said NO. We have contractors doing major remodel and unit quits. 4 days later their guy comes out says Replace, AHG says  NO put a band aid on. Tech says NO, it won't work. AHG spends 18 days 'reviewing' while it's 115 outside. Contractors said they won't work past noon; too hot. AHG says all they will approve is STOP LEAK. And it will take 5-6 days. We replace at our expense and cancel policy.

We closed 7/11, canceled 8/28, got refund check 10/24. Says policy has 30 day cancellation add-on and 15% cancellation penalty.  Total deduction was $232, about 1/3 of premium

My opinion: they had no interest in paying claim. It was better get us so frustrated to cancel. 18 days without AC is brutal in AZ in August. We cancelled all other homes as well and still no check

Bottom line: pay month to month and read reviews

Critical: Responsiveness, Value
My ice maker went out on my frig in May.  It still has not been fixed.  The last thing I heard regarding the repair from the contractor was that AHG cancelled the parts that were ordered.  They said it was cancelled last month and seemed surprised that AHG never told me.  I called AHG, and they said someone would get ahold of me.  I never heard back.  I called again today, and they said someone will call me.  Six months to fix a simple ice maker and then they cancel the repair but don't tell me?  Seriously?  Does anyone know how to get their attention or get them to perform on the warranty contract?

I called in for a service call at the end of December for my heater not working. They came out within a week to diagnose the problem and now it's the middle of February and I'm still without a heater.  No courtesy calls or emails to tell me the status of repairs.  Winter will be over by the time they come out to make the repairs.  Very disappointed with this company and their service technicians they subcontract.  Shame on you AHS.

They have been terrible to work with, as someone else said. My plan clearly said that my water heater was covered, and so when it stopped working I had them send a repairman out. There was a 50 dollar fee for that even though I was the one that had to talk to the repair company and set up the appointment. The repairman came and said the water heater was broken and needed to be replaced, so he took it and disposed of it and when he returned he had AHG on the phone and they told me that my water heater wouldn't be covered because there was rust present. Sadly this isn't the first time that I've had a similar experience with them.

If I could give them no stars I would. After two weeks of waiting someone finally came to fix my microwave. He had to make two service calls. My oven was working fine until he left and then it was broken.  I'm still on hold. It's been 1 hour and 20 minutes and 'm still waiting. Ridiculous. The first person I spoke to didn't speak English. Then I asked for a supervisor. Of course I didn't get one. Just another person who didn't speak English very well. Apparently it's impossible to speak to a supervisor. Although they broke the oven while fixing the microwave they want me to wait a week for someone to come out. This is a scam. I'm a renter and everytime the owner calls this company to fix something it's an ordeal. They want you to stay home all day to wait for someone. I work!! Super bad service. I will NEVER use this company after I buy my own home. I don't believe the person that gave this company 5 stars. I'm sure they work for the company trying to get rid of all the one stars. Still waiting on the phone.................

Do not go with AHG home warranty, they contract with service providers who are not trustworthy and are unreliable. My fridge broke so I contacted them first thing in the morning to open a claim. they said that I would get a call back from a service provider in four hours the guy did not call me back for seven hours I had to call back in to ask for a follow up because they had still not contacted me this was at 4 PM and the guy finally called me back at 7:30 PM at night after all of the food in my fridge had spoiled, to tell me he would not be there until 12pm the following day. I lost $600 groceries which this warranty company will not reimburse. The following day at 12pm came and went,  I didn't hear from the service provider, not did he answer my call when i contact them. He finally called me back to tell me he would be an hour late after I had already called the warranty company. He was at my house for about 90 mins, to tell me I needed a new part, flooded my kitchen floor from defrosting the freezer, and told me the warranty company would call me to let me know if they are going to cover the part and reschedule. A week went by a never heard from anyone, called the warranty company to find out that they alreAdy approved the order and told the repair company to contact me.. they called them and requested they call me.. no one ever called me. I then get an email from the warranty company saying that the repairs were already completed and asking for a survey. I call again to complain, never hear back. A few days later, I get a call from the sales team saying they want to renew my policy. Luckily the representative was very nice and understanding, heard my complaints and called the service company herself,  who then contacted me that day saying the part just came in today (well what do you know, coincidence?) ha. I schedule an appointment for him to come out at 4 Pm the next business day ( I left work early to make sure I would be home on time).. what happens, the guy is a no show! I wait 30 mins before deciding i'm not going to sit around when he hasn't even called. Im out running errands and he calls me at 5:40 saying hey i'm going to he headed out there now, is that okay? (Keep in mind it will take him and hour and a half to get all the way across town). By now you can imagine i'm not happy, this is the same guy that did not call back  on time, showed up an hour late to the last appt, never followed up on replacing the part or scheduling a new appt, claimed to have already completed the repairs and lied, and now was a no show, and called an hour and 40 mins late?!?! I'm over this. I called the warranty company that day, no reply, then left another message with receptionist after hours, no reply, its been 3 weeks now since original claim, fridge is still needing repaired, no followup, nothing. I keep calling and getting no where! What a waist of money!

In my experience, the WORST company EVER!
So, two months ago, oven not heating, sent a guy, he yelled at me in front of my daughter, and then, my husband! The oven never did get fixed. The dryer broke, they were going to send same company, I said HELL NO, so they sent a different company. The guy BLEW UP our dryer and our electric circuit. Blamed it on our electricity. SO, they sent an electrician, he fixed it. It blew again, the electrician came again, fixed it, looked and said the dryer is melted inside and that it is burned up and the electric is not the problem and that the dryer has a short in it.
I called the owner back and told him the guy he sent ruined the dryer and blew up circuit breaker. The OWNER came and fixed the dryer. I did a load of laundry and it BURNED my husbands expensive work clothes. I called the owner, said I was going to call Home Shield. He said I was lucky to have him because someone else would take a minimum of two to three weeks, maybe more, before they would be able to look at my dryer. I told him I was concerned about his guy blowing up my dryer (by the way he didn't know his employee's name, he said he goes through them a lot). A guy at my husband's work said if it had so much electric going through it that the circuit breaker broke and it was melted inside, it would never be the same. So, he fixed it again. I did another load of laundry and it BURNED my husband's other expensive work clothes.
NOW, the appliance guy told American Home Shield that he never found any problem with the dryer?! Really?! So, their first guy, over the oven yells at me in my home in front of my daughter and the second guy, who blew up my, still not working dryer, it has now been about a month, said he found nothing wrong with the dryer?! Who are these people they are sending to my house? CRIMINALS? Apparently.
THEIR electrician said it was the dryer. NOW, after calling them for a month, having a shady people in my house, they want to have someone else come to my house. I said I really think after everything you have put me through I should have a NEW DRYER, because your guy BLEW mine up and it WASN'T blown up before! AND for ALL of his HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE inconvenience (just got of phone now having ANOTHER guy come to my house)! This has really added a lot of unneeded stress to my life. UPDATE: THEY SENT AN 8TH PERSON TO FIX DRYER, THEY WERE A NO SHOW AND NO CALL EITHER. WORST COMPANY EVER!!
Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Total Scam 9/11/2018

Had to call them 4 times in a 3 week period to come to our house to just evaluate our broken stove. Even had to threaten legal action the last time to get them to finally come after taking our money for a service call that never happened. After a tech came to or house and evaluated the problem, control panel that's broken, they refused to get on the line as the tech was calling from our house to report his findings. The tech said he was told the company would call us the next day to give us our repair options. Waited 10 more days but of course no call, after calling twice again the company rep we said our claim was closed. Yes closed. I immediately reiterated our problems whereas she stated that she couldn't understand how it was closed if our stove was still broken and no resolution was offered. She said she would immediately contact support and get us an offer of resolution for replacement since the part to fix our stove was no longer available. Surprise, surprise, no call back. 3 days later we gat an e-mail stating that we can get a gift card or check for less than 20% of the replacement cost of our stove. I placed 2 more calls back to the company to speak to a manager and was rebuffed by being sent to voice mail both times. I received an e-mail the second time after leaving a detailed message for the manager requesting answers for the delay in initial service of a tech analysis, and answer for why I had to threaten legal action to finally get a service call that had already been paid for, and finally how I could get a gift card for 20% of replacement value for a quality stove especially when I had been sold an upgrade at a hefty price for an additional $1,000 coverage for high end appliances. Yes surprise again, no return call but an e-mail stating that their company can 1) choose not replace an appliance whenever they feel like it, contrary to their advertising and sales pitch, and 2) give me any amount of compensation they determine, even it only covers 20% of the actual replacement cost.

It seemed they would great until the first guy came out and did not finish his work. The second time we called it was for a ceiling fan. It took them a month to get someone out and then when he needed additional instructions from the company they took two weeks to get back to him. During this time I called numerous times to get someone to talk with me why it was taking so long. I asked to speak with a manager on a Monday and was informed that there was no manager that came on That day...ON A MONDAY!!! I had to leave a message and of course I received no call back. I will be going with someone else once my year is up.

Horrible company, do not use.  I hate this company, and as a realtor I have seen alot of warranty companies.  If it were possible to give 0 stars I would.  This company will first try to deny your claim, and if you challenge them over coverage, then they try to send out their in-house repair company (Sonoran Home Repair) that knows diddly-squat about air conditioner repair and plumbing.  I've had to bring in my own repair company after the warranty to fix what they didn't fix in the first place.  I am never going to use this company again, nor will I recommend them to any of my clients.

If you are thinking about using this company -- don't.  Save yourself money and a lot of aggravation.  Go elsewhere.

RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN!!!  If I could give zero stars I would! They claim they have 24 hour customer service- which is a lie. They have a machine that tells you that they will call you back the next business day.  They have an online submission that will contact you within 4 hours of business start the next business day. I had a flooded kitchen from a bad garbage disposal- it happened on the weekend.  I had to call someone to fix it- and they never ever called me back despite multiple calls for resolution. This weekend my AC went out- in August, in PHOENIX- I got a call 24 hours later. I had to pay someone privately to fix as I have 2 dogs and we were in a sweat house. When I called there was no remorse. The lady tried to tell me that the contractors are not mandated to work weekends.... unfortunately the customer service is not either.  Do not buy into the sales bologna that they are #1.  RUN. I know am.

This home warranty company is a joke. People pay 600-800 dollars a year which I know is cheap to help protect their home. When a customer needs them the most during ac season they tell customers we can't make it out there for 2 weeks. Reason 1 they hire incompetent ac contractors that are just starting in the business and don't pay them crap for their craft. Reason 2 they are just like insurance adjusters and find every reason under the sun to not cover most items. As far as I'm concerned take your 600 a year throw it in a growth fund and when the time comes to replace your ac you don't have to worry because the money will be there. All home warranties suck.

********Horrible company, buy at your own risk.  This is a serious warning********.
I have had the worst experience with this company of LIARS and CHEATS, They are the best CON ARTISTS winners 5 years in a ROW..They claim to be winner, for the 5th straight year of the US Commerce Assoc of New York, Best Home Warranty.
I tried to find US Commerce Assoc.. I was not surprised that it doesn't exist. That's the CON Sucking you in telling you they are the best 5 years,running...LIAR, LIAR!!!!!
They dont answer the phone, they put you on hold, for at least 20 min.or more.
The message says we are experiencing higher than normal call volumes.Doesn't matter when you call. If you leave a message they don't call you back.
If you have a claim they try to weasel out of it....I had to have my Water heater replaced. It was a 75 gallon and the would only replace a 50 gallon and I would have to pay the difference..I agreed to pay the difference, but it was more than what the difference is at Lowes...The plummers dented the heater, damaged the dry wall while installing it. Their reply was sorry.. Call the warranty co.I did and they never responded.. Thanks AHG for nothing.

I have since sold the house and gave up the warranty with it..New buyer wanted it to be extended for a full year, I extended it for a full year. The title co overpaid by $315.86...
It was a mistake, but American Home Guardian took a 15% cancellation fee of $82.35, which they told me they would not do, since it was extended, not cancelled.LIARS CHEATS, CON ARTISTS   .

An absolutely terrible company - I wouldn't even recommend them to someone I hated they are that bad!! I would give this company a negative rating if I could - they don't even rate a zero. I'm not sure where to even begin - this company is so bad in every aspect. I called them concerning a plumbing issue and because I just bought the house a month ago, they wanted a copy of the home inspection report so I sent the summary. That wasn't good enough. So instead of them just asking me for the full report, they sent an email to the home inspector with the string of emails that had transpired between me and AHG. He wrote back to them and told them flat out he's never seen such unprofessional behavior and, as a professional home inspector, he would be sure to tell his clients to stay away from AHG at all cost.

The plumber they sent said he couldn't fix the problem, he didn't have the equipment needed. He said he snaked the line as much as he could and that was it. He said a hydraulic pump (or something like that) was needed. I called a few plumbing companies and they said that is ONLY used for commercial buildings as it would blow out residential plumbing lines.

Skip two days later and the plumbing issue got worse after the plumber was there! Before some sewage back up was occurring in a guest shower. Now not only is the shower filled with sewage but every toilet is backed up. I don't know what he did but not only did he NOT fix this issue, I'm concerned that he actually made it worse. So I called AHG today (Saturday) and finally got through after being on hold for a long time and after being disconnected twice. The person I spoke with said they would have to call the plumber. I asked them to call me back to give me an update - whether or not they were able to reach the plumber or not. That was almost 5 HOURS AGO!!! And this is for an emergency service call since no plumbing whatsoever is working in the house. I'm glad I went with my instincts and had contacted a reliable plumbing service soon after I called them. They will have a plumber out shortly to see what the problem is and fix it if they can today.

I'm cancelling my contract with AHG and filing a complaint with the BBB first thing Monday. This company should not be in business! Buyer definitely beware!!! They do nothing but cause you additional stress and grief in addition to the issue you are already dealing with.

****Update***** Just as I had suspected. The plumber sent by AHG was incompetent and actually made the situation worse. Instead of snaking the line properly all he did was push the stuff towards the main line and clogged multiple lines by doing so. I will be filing a complaint not only with the BBB concerning American Home Guardian, I will also be filing a complaint concerning this plumber with the AZ Register of Contractors.

This company is a scam!!!  No customer loyalty at all and have lots of loop holes set up so they don't have to actually hold up their part of the deal!!  huge waste of money and took forever to finally get them to cancel the account!! Run away from this company.

I know what you're thinking...the seller is paying for it, so it doesn't matter what company we get a warranty from, and I can tell you you're wrong. I've been hung up on, lied to, and the customer service manager Scott ignored me for over 2 weeks before I had to email him AGAIN to get a response. Every single person that I've dealt with was nothing but unprofessional and rude. On top of all of that, they refuse to accept responsibility for any of their screw ups. Don't put yourself through the misery that I've been through over the last few months. I couldn't cancel my contract fast enough!

Requested documentation prior 2 years technical service for an appliance manufacturer from two other customer service representatives.
After no call back results, phoned today the Scottsdale office.
BRIDGETT  B. answered the phone & I requested the same
information. Within 5 to 10 minutes BRIDGETT searched my
information & responded with the 4 dates requested. She
will email the documentation the following day due to my late
phone call.
BRIDGETT B should be CLONED for her communication skills,
friendly personality, technical expertise , and most important
excellent customer service leading to a satisfied customer base.

My water heater burst while I was away on vacation - i called them and they handled it immediately - The day I arrived back - they sent a contractor that was INCREDIBLE - Milburn Plumbing in San Antonio. I thought I would get the runaround because usually once they determine you need a replacement you have to order the unit....yadda yadda yadda - but the guy ran right out - got the unit - brought it back and installed it all between the time he arrived at 2pm and had the whole thing done and working by 5pm. So, 5 stars for AHG and 5 stars for Milburn Plumbing in San Antonio.

I found American Home Guardian through Local First Arizona and have tried supporting them as a realtor by buying several policies for home buyers recently. The first policy I ordered, they lost track of payment.... Fair enough, it was somewhat easily fixed and I know mistakes sometimes happen. But then it happened again just a couple months later! Each time this happens means more time that an escrow officer and I must both spend addressing their mistake, so I'm not thrilled with AHG's track record thus far. I never had this issue with one of AHG's competitors that I used in the past.

Today, when I called at the request of the buyer's agent -- thinking I was just inquiring about this payment issue -- I was first put on hold for 20 minutes (my phone said 21:07 when I actually got someone on the line). This is the general phone number, which is where my client might call if they have a repair problem, so I'm once again a little annoyed that they would put anyone on hold that long. Then when someone answered, I learned that the delay was due to this same homeowner who inquired about the policy and was the cause of my call.  I guess this means that they have only one person on the phone?! Seriously?!

Thankfully, I just learned that this buyer was still able to cancel payment and get a different policy. However, I'm still concerned for my other clients. I cannot put my professional reputation on the line by recommending a company that treats its customers this way, nor am I willing to repeatedly throw $350-400 toward a company that makes me look bad. No bueno, AHG. Sad we couldn't make this work.

As a Real Estate agent and investor. I recommend to my clients and buyers to always purchase a home warranty on a resale home even if everything is new. I have a great deal of experience working with many different home warranty providers. So when I tried to assist my 75 yr old mother who had gotten this one on her own, I was shocked at how difficult it was to get anything done with this company. It took 5 days luckily the contract they contacted said it would be an additional 4 days from then to get the issue resolved and had to get management on the phone to get a resolution. AHG Home Warranty company tried to lay blame on my 75 yr old mother as to why it couldn't get done sooner. Pointed to the contract and stated weekends and holidays you need to give them 48hrs to return calls... WHAT?? So If my 75yr old mother has an A/C unit go out in 110 degree weather you have no emergency service that will call you back sooner than 48hrs? The answer is NO!  That was an example and not the actual issue. Ours was that the pool pump went out and anyone that has a pool knows how quickly algae on your pool can start and my mother was in another state. So the company finally came out fixed the broken pump noticed there was an additional leak, but since that wasn't mentioned, the pump wasn't working, no water circulation by the home warranty company they were not authorized to fix it nor would they call the home warranty company to notify them that it too needed to be repaired. Instead told us we would need to file another claim pay another $100 dollars to fix the pipe next to the pump which was probably the reason it went out to begin with. This was so bad from start to finish with AHG Home Warranty and the contractor they sent out. To the contractors credit they were very nice, but did not go the extra mile to assist the client. All I have to say is this company needs a complete revamp of their customer service & management personnel. So unhappy, we are moving our home warranty to American Home Shield. The 3 top warranty providers in my opinion are American Home Shield, Old Republic and First American Home Buyers Protection Corporation.

Hope this helps someone.

Zero Stars... Absolutely the worst customer service and business model ever.  When renewing my contract they changed terms of the contract without my knowledge or consent.  Now a service fee must be paid PRIOR to work being started or completed.  This is totally unacceptable from any type of business model.  The worst part is that AHS said I owed a $75 fee for something that I had already paid for.  I was forced to incur additional costs and fees in order to prove to them that they had received my check four months earlier and cashed it for the repair in question.  They refuse to compensate me for my additional costs in proving that they were wrong and that they had already cashed my check.

Paid about $500 for the basic appliance and home coverage plan, only to find out (5 months into my plan) that I wasn't covered for the dishwasher and septic pump that broke 5 months after I bought my house.  Horrible customer service (wait times in excess of 20 mins) - service fees for anyone to come look at the appliances was $75 (most contractors charge the same - so why pay for annual coverage, when you aren't really covered??).  Read the fine print - most plans only cover systems - not appliances or the things most homeowners will really need.   NEVER AGAIN, AHS!

1 star is being FAR too generous. After 10 years in real estate I have worked with my fair share of warranty companies,  I tried AHG in an effort to support a local business. AHG is by far the WORST company I've worked with yet.

I have been on hold for 28 minutes (as I type) waiting for a simple email confirming that they canceled my policy without any written confirmation or refund of my pro-rate balance.

Nothing is covered, they nickel and dime you with fees and BS charges, and their customer service is the WORST I've ever experienced. Total SCAM, don't buy. There are plenty of other warranty companies so do your research, go with a firm who cares about their reputation and has the wherewithal to cover their policies.

They are unresponsive, wait times to speak with a person to even request service average a hour. They have minimal contractors on their list even for emergencies, they have no direct contact number once you have had a bad experience and generally do not care if your issue is handled in a timely fashion.
I had some sort of leak ongoing and after 1.5 hours on hold to speak with someone, they told me they had hours and hours to even locate a service professional who then had greater than 24 hours to respond. They refused to authorize my hiring of an outside contractor with subsequent reimbursement. The ongoing issue has caused further issues including electrical and drywall that they refuse to cover calling them secondary damage,. They told me they do not care if they have bad reviews and offered no apologies or reasonable solutions whatsoever.
This is the most disreputable company I have ever dealt with.
DO NOT use them for any reason!!!!

Run as fast as you can from American Home Guardian, Inc. All this company wants is your money and knows all the tricks to get out of providing anything in return. I have never dealt with a more dishonest company in my life. When I tried to order my HVAC seasonal check up, I was told to call back the following month. I called back the following month and was told that I did not have a signed contract. At this point, I was so frustrated that I couldn't get service on something that wasn't broke and could only imagine how difficult it would be IF something actually needed to be fixed. Since their representative told me I didn't have a signed contract and I had never received any services, I opted to request a refund and not deal with this shady company. I sent a certified letter requesting a full refund. There was absolutely no communication from AHG. Instead of refunding the $540 paid, they sent $139.44 which was totally unacceptable. I returned the check certified mail requesting a full refund or to honor the remainder of the contract. That was two months ago. I called AHG yesterday and was advised that I have no home warranty and they have ALL my money!!!!!!

First of all prepaid  to wait on the phone for 30-40 minutes at least before even talking to anyone. Secondly this company will do everything in their power and go to every extreme to not have to pay a single dime or help you what so ever. My ac compressor went out and because it is called a light commercial unit they will not cover it even though it is only installed in residents and has nothing to do commercially. My ac unit is by Trane and I called them on my own and they told me as well as ahs that it is a residential unit but ahs still refuses to pay for the compressor because it had commercial in the name. The representative would only continually say that they can't help me because it is not called a residential unit. It's 92 degrease in my home and I have a 9 week old baby and I feel terrible because I don't make enough money right now to buy a new ac unit so my baby is at home with his mom all day with nothing but a fan blowing hot air.. I'm going to continue to fight to get this figured out and will update this review if I have any luck. If you're using this company I hope you have better luck

It has been a nightmare from the word go. I called for service twice for my AC and TWICE they referred me to a company that doesn't service my area. On the 3rd attempt, they told me they don't have an AC repair company in my area. They referred me to their outside authorization department,  which means I pay for the repairs and get reimbursed. This sounded like a great plan......
That was 3 days ago and I'm still waiting on them to email me the instructions for how to do it... I've called them back numerous times and asked for a supervisor. I've been hung up on and I've been told a supervisor would call me in 24-48 business hours.......

If I could give a -10 I would.  We have a warranty with them and they charged me $75 to tell me they couldn't find a vendor and then to tell me they didn't cover a major plumbing repair after our getting a warranty on a home we've been in less than a month.  Our plumber told us they knew it wouldn't be covered because they always figure out a way not to pay.  Please don't waste your money.  Awful service.  Useless.

This is the worst company! Never get into a contract with them! Beware they raise prices and renew contracts automatically with no warning and then will not refund the money they stole. Trying to get a hold of a person to talk to takes 20 minutes just for them to tell you there is nothing they can do.  Even the lady I spoke to on the phone replied yes when I accused this company of being a scam.  They do not do anything that they claim they will. They state they will help replace AC... not true they just continue to make you pay the fee associated with getting it serviced and replace part after part even when the specialists say its an old system that needs to be replaced.  Do not give this company a penny, you wont regret it.

They're a racket.  You call.  They tell you if it's covered, tell you yes and then charge you to have someone come out who tells you it's not covered.  They won't refund you for the service call either, and it's a lot.  Most of the time, it would cover the service entirely if you didn't use them at all.

NO STARS it should be.  AHG is the worst Warranty Service Company out there.  They stall service.  I have had three instances now in two years.  I went almost 30 days without a fridge with 5 people in the house.  They only offered to replace when I canceled.  They should be ashamed the way they treat people.  On another repair for heat they stalled the order of hardware and the service took over 5 weeks.  Save your money put it in your savings it adds up and in the end works the same way, and when you call for a repair they come faster and order the parts themselves.  AHG manages ordering the parts for repairs and they STALL on the replacement part orders.  They should be shut down!!!!   Sadly, they end up getting the repair companies low rating due to their management of the repairs.  Shame on you!

Ok I used AHG for at least five years. No problems at $54.50 a month plus the repair company gets $50.00 dollars for just showing up. The first thing which broke the camel's back as you might say .... We had our gas line break at the connection to our house. It wasn't covered. Then we had our dryer go down, they sent four people to fix it. And all they did was make the matter worse They were all retired and worked for Sears. Worst repairs I ever had and the repairmen would leave parts out. Never to show up again and if they did I was the told, I have no idea where this part goes. Gas water heater went down. It was a total replacement. I never saw the bill btw. But they didn't want to pay for it. I did pay the company for the water heater install though because I don't like debts that I incurred. I should have thunk in 20012 when my a/c went down. No help, because I didnt keep up the maintenance prior to 2012. Hello we moved into our home in 2013. And I had quarterly maintenance always done. Well get this .... My credit card expires in Apr 2015, in March I get an email saying they are cancelling my account because I had not updated my card and I still owed money to a company that was assigned to replace the water heater. Not true at all, I pay our bills. My reply to them was ... no way. No answer from them. But you know what? I'll see you later AHG, NOT.
Don't ever use this rag tag POS of a company for anything. They are just a rip off. Yes I know its more expensive going to local companies to repair items around your home. But those companies (if they are any good) will work with you to help pay for their services.

Save your money and don't go to these home warranty scams. Put a bit of money aside and save it for home repairs and/or do it yourself. JMHO

AHS is really a scam.  Despite advertising and representing that they can provide HVAC heating and air service, they have no vendors that they contract with to actually service units.  It is fraudulent to make these representations and to collect money from consumers when the company cannot deliver the product advertised.  We have been waiting over a week for the appropriate service technician to come service our unit, with AHS sending unqualified technicians that they know cannot service our HVAC.  When pressed on why they keep sending out unqualified technicians the AHS customer service representative admitted that they have no contractors or vendors that can service our unit which is less than three years old.

They must find the worst reputable contractors for the various services. Even now that they have re-branded to Homeserve, the contractors are horrible. I'm writing this as I am on hold with them to figure out why the A/C guy that they hired never showed... even after 2 appointments.

The worst was the garage door company they hired. Guy came to replace a spring (covered under warranty), but said he couldn't unless I replaced the wheels and something else (not covered under warranty), as otherwise it wouldn't be safe.. After lots of back and forth, I let him replace the wheels because I was already my service fee into the guy and another guy would be about the same thing just for the spring at that point.

Their appliance repair guys tend to be pretty good, which is why I bumped them to 2 stars.

Worst customer service ever!! Do not return calls, wait for over an hour to even get a live person. After calling numerous times about the 3 different techs they had sent out to my home for my Apollo heat system that none of them worked on, they then say I need a 4th opinion. While waiting for the 4 company I am disconnected and never called me back. Did live chat and was told that my policy was canceled!!! So after paying for the warranty for months, paying the $125 service call fee, I am dropped and nobody will call me back. This process has been going on for over 2 weeks.  Will NEVER use or recommend American Home Warranty!!!!

AHG is the absolute worst home warranty company to have! Realtors and home buyers beware! Please do your homework on this unethical company, and read reviews on Face Book and Yelp before you decide to purchase a home warranty from AHG! I wish we would have and not wasted several hundreds of dollars on this home warranty! We purchased our home in May of 2018 and had our dishwasher and garage door opener go out 45 days after we purchased the home. We called AHG and paid the $56.00 fee per claim, and we only had a service technician come out to assess the issue with our dishwasher. He told the rep we were working with at AHG how much it was going to cost for the repair ($600) and they called us the next day and offered us a $120 gift card to Home Depot! I was insulted by their offer and refused to accept it! Not to mention they never sent out a garage door technician to asses the issue with the garage door and we paid the $65.00 fee for that! They refuse to give us our money back on that claim since no one ever came out, and they refuse to fix our dishwasher! I can't believe how unethical and rude all employees from AHG are! Scott Jolley is one of the higher ups within the company and he is a straight LIAR! he claims we accepted the offer of the $120 gift card and said we would fix the garage door opener ourselves without a refund! If I could have left 0 stars I would have! It was a HUGE waste of money to invest my trust in this company!

I called today to cancel my American Home Shield policy. In our case, it has proven a huge waste of money. I waited about 15 minutes to talk to a live agent. The agent went through all the checklist to ensure my information was correct. Then asked me the purpose of my call. I told her I was wanted to cancel my policy. She then asked why, It told her. After that she told me I had to talk with Customer Service (really?) and put me on hold. I has been 30 minutes, so far and I am still on hold. Next time I purchase a home, I will ask the realtor if we can use a different company.

Just wanted to write here that Bridgette was extremely helpful for me in understanding our coverage. So far over the last 3 years, they have done well at answering our concerns (ie; new washer, new ice maker). There is a $65 fee each time you need service (in addition to the monthly warranty fee), but it's worth it for us for the piece of mind; especially with big items like A/C and plumbing. Thanks, Bridgette:)

Incompetent, scam of company.  Do not use this home warranty company.  I purchased the highest end Premium level policy and have been left completely dissatisfied.  Our hot water heater failed to work 2 months after moving into our new home in Fall of 2013.  AHG sent out their tech from Sonoran Home Services (which is the same owner as AHG), who informed me that we needed a new heating element in the appliance, which he replaced.  Now 8 months later, the water heater is still not working properly, so he came out to inform me that due to lack of maintenance on the appliance (annual flushing) that we needed to purchase a new heater and that it was not covered under our contract because it had over 19 years of sedimentary build-up.  So after paying $110 in services fees, I am left having to purchase a new $500 appliance.  I requested a refund of the second service fee, since the tech did not properly diagnose the problem during the first service, which they denied.

BEWARE they will double your fee if you try to renew if you actually use their services!! We have had them for a few years and last year we had to use them multiple times because our problem wasn't fixed. They sent us a letter to renew for one price and when we called they said it was double that because we used them!!! So now when our AC unit goes out for the same problem...we won't be able to fix it!!!

This is by far one of the worst warranty company I have ever dealt with. My biggest mistake was not to read the review before I signed up. I have plumbing issue with my kitchen sink and garbage disposal, AHG considered that as 2 separate service calls. 2 weeks after the plumber has snake my kitchen sink, it clog up again. AHG said is another $65 for service call!!! In frustration I cancelled my warranty. Well shame on me for not redaing the fine print, there is  no refund of the remaining premium because AHG has paid for two services. I called them back to retract my cancellation and was told i cannot do it. But if I want, I can rebuy the warranty again!! Kristy from AHG never respond to any of my calls or emails - one of the worst customer service in my life. This company is a total rip off...stay away from them!!

The oldest reimbursement was submitted May 11th which is over 60 days ago. After several ignored attempts at contact, I was finally given a response that one reimbursement was approved and should be sent in the near future. Of course I was not given the amount of these reimbursements.

After again waiting several days (all dates and times recorded), I reached out to again to confirm the status of the 2 reimbursements. It was at this time that I was informed that yes, they were approved but that the HVAC was at nearly 65% less than had been submitted. Needless to say this is absolutely unacceptable given the proper steps that were taken prior to service being completed. These steps include contacting AHG with the necessary service needed, gaining approval to seek a service provider, submitting a quote for service, getting approval for services to be completed, submitting a paid in full invoice and being told there were no issues.  I also submitted a home inspection report and prior service records as requested. All items requested from me were submitted within 24 hours.

I have even gone as far as my real estate agent contacting the sales rep.  He contacted me by phone and began sharing how he sells these service plans but that he tells the customer under the table that the reimbursement route is not a good option due to the minimal return that is received.  This of course is not disclosed to the real estate agents who are contacted by your sales representatives and asked to distribute your materials.  He was also going to follow up to make sure that this was taken care of.  That was over 45 days ago and again, no response.

I have waited days, most times, weeks for a response. I have followed each and every direction that I was given to ensure that the reimbursement process went as smoothly as it should. My documented attempts at contact were ignored for several days by both Margie and Darrel, as well as the original email recipient at [email protected].  Most recently I contacted AHG directly by phone.  I spoke with an individual by the name of Chrystal to follow up on the status. I expressed my concerns and she reassured me repeatedly she would be contacting Darrel and get right back to me. That was nearly 2 weeks ago and again no response. She even confirmed that I never received any reimbursement paperwork to outline the process. Paperwork that apparently would have further explained the reimbursement rates of return.

I have documented and recorded each phone call, email and text message.  I have every informational form that was provided since I paid for this service - in full for the highest coverage offered, as I was under a much different impression of the company at that time. I have responded quickly to each and every request that has been made of me.  I have submitted documents in a timely manner.  I, as the customer, have been the only individual attempting to maintain contact or open lines of communication during this entire process.

AHG has numerous negative reviews on social media and internet outlets.  I decided to proceed with your company, against my better judgement due to the coverage options and pricing.  I will now do my part to ensure that other potential customers do not fall into the same situation that I currently find myself in.

DO NOT GO WITH THIS COMPANY. They have horrible customer service, can never come to your home when you need them to, and then they make the process of finding outside help extremely difficult, when it is their fault in the first place that they don't have enough repairmen contracted. To top it off, the people you deal with on the phone are extremely rude, I actually had one agent say yeah yeah yeah over me AS I WAS ASKING A QUESTION - like seriously? Then he sent the repairman to the wrong house on the opposite side of Washington state. They are a joke and should be shut down.

Picked them because they had good reviews. 28 days into our new home, the water heater breaks. Their contractor says it's due to rust that the heating element broke and they won't cover it since it was pre existing. Yet, I provide my home inspection as asked that shows it was all working and rust free. They deny my claim. The contractor offers to do it for $1200 since it wasn't covered (hahahaha. A $400 water heater). Meanwhile, I call GE since it's only 4 years old and under their warranty. They tell me 'oh the bottom element broke, leaked, and caused the rust so we will overnight the part.' AHG was called Friday afternoon, contractor came Saturday, they didn't get back to me saying they wouldn't cover it until I finally called on Tuesday around lunch! After I told them GE said the rust was secondary they apologized and that was it! They said their contractor was wrong and they won't do business with them again. Okay so I wasted a $65 service fee plus my $555 in warranty. Said I 'should get my money back' when I canceled but the manager wasn't sure. He also said I wouldn't get my $65 back since the service company charges that (yet they lied and said the entire tank needed replaced etc). So I cancelled my policy and I guess I will see if they deduct the 15% for cancelling. I hope not since it was their contractors mistake that led to me not being covered, etc. And here I sit with a working water heater thanks to a $20 part sent by GE and no thanks to 6 days and $65 plus $555 with AHG. Best of luck to anyone who chooses them and doesn't buy their most expensive plan!

I'm very happy with AHG Home Warranty!  The customer service rep was very nice and my a/c was fixed the next day!

Awful! Worst home warranty company I have ever worked with. There was only 3 times I used American Home Guardian and 3 times I was extremely disappointed. FYI they're not opened on the weekends!  My washing machine broke on a Monday and they didn't get anyone out the whole week. I kept calling, they would forget to call back. Here comes Friday and no one came.  If they can't get anyone out to fix things before Friday, you're out of luck until Monday unless Monday is a friggin holiday (which it was in our case) We went a week+ without a washing machine. I don't even want to talk about our garage door. If your freezer is under warranty your ice maker and other features in the freezer are not. Please do not use this company if you want to keep your sanity.
