At first, we were impressed with the folks over at South Sound Electric in Port Orchard. A few weeks ago, we had an emergency that left us partially without power, and SSE got right to the job. Ryan and his apprentice were diligent and efficient, solving our electrical mystery and fixing it in about an hour.
Last week, we ran into another electrical issue and, satisfied with the earlier service, SSE was the first place we called. This was a mistake. We managed to get on their schedule quickly like before, but this time, their communication with us was practically nonexistent and the customer service was abominable. Repeatedly, the electricians did not show up as scheduled, and when we'd call for an update, the receptionist would promise to call right back and never did. When the initial problem was finally solved, the electricians offered a follow-up service that would prevent a recurring issue. We agreed. They did not return on Monday as they said they would, and when we called on Tuesday, we were told they would come on Thursday, as they were waiting for parts. As it turns out, they showed up on Wednesday without calling ahead. Fortunately, we were home. After finishing the project, they couldn't tell us how much it would cost.
The next day, we received a call from Kathy at SSE, about the bill, implying that we'd been ignoring it. When told we hadn't received it, she discovered that it had not been emailed to us as she thought. When we finally received it, the bill was significantly higher than we'd anticipated. They charged us for a 2.5 hour visit, when at MOST, the workers were here for 1.5 hours (very similar to the story Jay S. told in his review in 2020).
What led us to write this review, though, was the conversation we had with Kathy today. She called to follow up on the payment, and when we raised concerns about the discrepancy in service time and their lack of communication, she was extraordinarily rude and implied that we were calling her a liar. Though we insisted that we have every intention of paying our bill and just wanted to give some feedback about our disappointment, she interrupted at every turn.
In hindsight, we should have asked for a quote before the electricians performed the follow-up service -- we won't be making this mistake again. We feel taken advantage of and completely frazzled by their egregious customer service. Avoid South Sound Electric.
