Needed quick help with an electrical problem, they came out after hours and fixed it pronto, great service, great price, and friendly and honest... I will hire them again In today's world it's hard to get someone to come out right away, this company came out within hours

At first, we were impressed with the folks over at South Sound Electric in Port Orchard. A few weeks ago, we had an emergency that left us partially without power, and SSE got right to the job. Ryan and his apprentice were diligent and efficient, solving our electrical mystery and fixing it in about an hour.

Last week, we ran into another electrical issue and, satisfied with the earlier service, SSE was the first place we called. This was a mistake. We managed to get on their schedule quickly like before, but this time, their communication with us was practically nonexistent and the customer service was abominable. Repeatedly, the electricians did not show up as scheduled, and when we'd call for an update, the receptionist would promise to call right back and never did. When the initial problem was finally solved, the electricians offered a follow-up service that would prevent a recurring issue. We agreed. They did not return on Monday as they said they would, and when we called on Tuesday, we were told they would come on Thursday, as they were waiting for parts. As it turns out, they showed up on Wednesday without calling ahead. Fortunately, we were home. After finishing the project, they couldn't tell us how much it would cost.

The next day, we received a call from Kathy at SSE, about the bill, implying that we'd been ignoring it. When told we hadn't received it, she discovered that it had not been emailed to us as she thought. When we finally received it, the bill was significantly higher than we'd anticipated. They charged us for a 2.5 hour visit, when at MOST, the workers were here for 1.5 hours (very similar to the story Jay S. told in his review in 2020).

What led us to write this review, though, was the conversation we had with Kathy today. She called to follow up on the payment, and when we raised concerns about the discrepancy in service time and their lack of communication, she was extraordinarily rude and implied that we were calling her a liar. Though we insisted that we have every intention of paying our bill and just wanted to give some feedback about our disappointment, she interrupted at every turn.

In hindsight, we should have asked for a quote before the electricians performed the follow-up service -- we won't be making this mistake again. We feel taken advantage of and completely frazzled by their egregious customer service. Avoid South Sound Electric.

We have used south sound for years as our primary electrician at our apartment community. They are always quick to respond, honest and a great value. I highly recommend them for anyone that needs an electrician

We are so very disappointed with this company! Service was done by Port Orchard  Sound Electric.
Chris & Aaron did the service and we don't have any problem with them. It is the one in the office who send us the bill & not communicating with their technicians on what had been the agreement between  them & the customer. The people in the office are so rude & lack of customers service etiquettes. There are different receptionist to talked too with different answers.  They gave us a ran around. We never encountered this kind of customer service. It was very unpleasant experience dealing with the office people. Jackie & Cathy  had different information whenever we communicate with them. The last phone call we had sounded that we are not paying the bill. It was them who had lack of explanation regarding this matter.
We paid the bill, but so disappointed that we were told that we will not be charged for the second time they came over after having the problem after few days of the technicians first visit.  They had to reset the panel.We always paid our dues whenever there is a  service rendered but  not giving us the right information is very frustrating.

The technicians are OK but dealing with office people had been a bad experience.

Contacted South Sound Electric to do a small job here at the house. They sent 2 workers out for the free estimate, which i did not receive. The same 2 Men showed up on the day Scheduled to do the work and I got billed for 3 hours labor when they were here for MAYBE an hour. Contacted the Company about the error was told nothing then received an Adjusted bill. This bill was also WRONG. They charged 1.5 hours when it was maybe 1 hour. I called yet again. I was told .. they were out there twice I said yeah, once for the free estimate which i never got and once on the day they did the work. The person i talked to raised her voice and said she will take it down to an hour ,but she can't go any lower... I thanked her since the new bill will be what it was suppose to be then politely hung up on her

The property management company in charge of my place of business hired South Sound Electric out of Port Orchard.

My first appointment was scheduled on a Friday at 130. At 315 I called to find out where they were and the receptionist told me they weren't going to make it and she would called me back tonight to reschedule for Monday. She Never called.

I called them on Monday to reschedule. They were able to get me in on Thursday and told me it would be a 4 hour job. SIX hours later they still were not finished and asked if I would be around a while so they could run back to the shop for supplies, I said no problem, 2 hours later no one showed and I never got a phone call. They left their garbage outside my place of business to get soaking wet!

I called the following day to find out if they were in fact still coming, scheduled for Tuesday some time between 2 and 4 and the receptionist told me she would call me early afternoon to give me a better time. No call. No show. Not surprised.

As a side note, I appreciate what work they did and it looks nice but I would honestly go with a company who has better customer service.

I am a heating contractor and have used South Sound Electric exclusively for the last two plus years and have had great luck with them. They do the work that is requested and in a reasonable time and a at very fair rate. I have not experienced anything but professionalism and a great work ethic from any of their workers and I recommend them often to friends and customers alike.

UNRELIABLE. I have called 5 TIMES for my company and they have yet to show up. Even though they guaranteed they would be here. Had many excuses for the absence.

The first time i called they had no record of it. the second time they said there worker said not to worry about it and kept having more and more excuses.

I told them i could call someone else after the 4th time and they promised to show. Never came, and never called.

DO NOT CALL THESE PEOPLE IF YOU WANT ANYTHING DONE.

Expect terrible customer service which comes with accusations and insults.

South Sound Electric was contracted to do significant work to our home, a two-day job totaling several thousand dollars. In addition to leaving our home a mess (wires, screws, insulation, drywall dust from gangbox cutouts left all over floor), they made several mistakes and neglected to bring them to our attention.

One of the issues was their technician drilled two holes for the same ceiling can light as the first was into a support beam. Upon completion of the install they did not offer a concession for this mistake and did not bring it to our attention - but we have a nice second hole cutout screwed back in to the ceiling to show for it. They also punctured a random holes in our walls claiming we were responsible for it because my spouse indicated to the technicians we would fix it on our own which was not true and something we don't even know how to do.

South Sound electric did not complete the items on the estimate and made mistakes along the way with no admission of guilt and no concessions for the mistakes or incomplete work. If something was not done, they were quick to say we don't do that kind of work or it should have been understood in the estimate - even when the estimate says nothing about their disclaimers.

This could have been resolved with an admission of mistake and an offer to remedy the problems; at worst there was a misunderstanding of the estimate and what it covered. Instead of an attempt at a fair and even resolution, we received personal attacks and accusations of being liars. At South South Electric, the customer is always wrong.  

We never got an apology and only received an offer to remedy some of the items after we complained (and sent photos - the owner didn't believe us until we sent proof of how our home was left dirty)... but the counteroffer from South Sound Electric does not remedy all of the issues nor does it excuse the personal attacks.

TLDR; South Sound Electric did not complete the job, did not bring the mistakes the techs made nor the incompleted tasks to our attention, and when we finally discovered this and brought this to the attention of the owner he immediately denied it and called us liars.  

Avoid at all costs.

Hired electrician service to install light. Worker did not secure light adequately. Light has started to come down from ceiling. Unhooked light to find one of the screws has come out of ceiling - worker from this company did not secure the screw adequately. The worker worked 20 minutes on this and billed us $135.88, did not do quality job as 1 of the 2 screws is falling out of ceiling. Have included pictures of this. Called company and left message, company has not returned my call, has not fixed this and has not secured the light. I am currently stuck with this light with 1 of the 2 screws not secured adequately in the ceiling. Also, I am no longer have insulation around this light fixture and hot air has filled my living room in June

I hired these guys to do an electrical inspection on a home we had just purchased. Two guys came out and did an ok enough job. They did the inspection on a Friday and I was assured I would have the report on Monday. That was literally a month and a half ago. No inspection report, no invoice, nothing! I've called numerous times because we need that report to begin rewiring our home.  Avoid this company and hire someone more reliable! I would give zero stars if I could!

Please be wary of these folks.  They have several locations - but all are run by the same man.  I had them come out and bid some work and once the bid was accepted I thought we'd be ok.  They'd seen what needed to be done and gave us a reasonable bid to do the work.  They weren't the cheapest - yet not the most expensive either.

Unfortunately, we were not ok.

1.  Replace exhaust fans:  They removed the old fans and left them in the attic.  They detached the duct work but did not reattach the duct work.  When I called them and asked them why - the owner Ray said they didn't do HVAC.  Apparently, detaching a duct from a fan is not HVAC but reattaching that same duct is HVAC.  He had no explanation as to why his people left the old fans in the attic.  I had to remove the fans they installed in order to get the old fans out, and reattach the duct work.  He said they don't do HVAC - yet no where on his bid did it state they don't reattach something they detached.  Any reasonable person would believe if you are replacing a fan, then whatever you took apart - you'd put back together.

2. Install a can light - they apparently don't know how to properly locate a stud.  They cut a hole into the ceiling and hit a stud.  Instead of notifying me of the error (unprofessional error but an error nonetheless), they simply screwed the drywall piece back in and installed the can light right next to it.  I'm guessing they thought I'd not notice?  They also did not put the beauty ring on it or the internal baffle.  Maybe I wouldn't notice that either.

3. They left their garbage all over the house.  Every place they did any work, they left sheetrock dust, old wires, old gang boxes etc.  I had to clean it all up - and almost filled a 13 gallon garbage bag with their waste - NOT including the old exhaust fans.

When I contacted the owner to have them finish their work and discuss the extra hole in my ceiling, he called my husband a liar.  He says my husband told him he'd fix all the drywall and not to worry about extra holes.  So, he basically says he was given a blank check - sure, I'll fix any hole you punch in my drywall?  I don't think so.  He stated his company does not patch sheetrock - which it does state that on his bid.  However, that does not cover their staff's incompetence in finding a stud.  He said yeah, they just hit a stud - but made no attempt to say they'd even fix it.  Just because your bid says No allowance included for patching of sheetrock or exterior wall (if required) beyond normal caulking, it doesn't mean if you misjudge and cut a hole in the ceiling - that you are not responsible for repairing it.

Long story short: (yeah - there's more but more of the same) - their customer service equates to:  we're right, you're wrong and you're a liar.  There has so far been no attempt to remedy the situation or to discount our bill to accommodate for their lack of professionalism (cleaning a job site) and lack of skill (two holes in walls that were unnecessary as well as not completing the exhaust fans/can light).  When I called, he immediately became very evasive and defensive.  He proceeded to call my husband a liar and told me these were my issues of not understanding what an electrician is to do.  Customer service is clearly not in their repertoire.

Be careful when you deal with these folks.  You will have little to no recourse, as I feel now, my issue with them will have to be dealt with in the court system.  Hopefully you'll have better luck than me!

One day the lights in my living room went out. My husband had done some work as an electrician in the past but couldn't figure it out. We were waiting on a friend who is an electrician to look at it when he had free time. It didn't matter to us when he came because the sun kept our living room bright until around 9.
   Then suddenly one day all of the power in our house went out. I thought for sure it was just our house because the only neighbor I could see still had power and we had the previous electrical problem. My husband called south sound electric. They asked him if the power was out for the whole neighborhood and he told them he didn't think so because our neighbor had power. Well it turned out that my neighbor had power because he was using a generator! The electricians stood at my door and told me they were just at someone else's house who also didn't have power. So they sent us a bill for $103 for doing literally NOTHING. They could have called when they found out it was the whole neighborhood but they didn't. When I called to dispute the bill the secretary was very hostile and even laughed at me. Do not use these guys, even if you're desperate!
