I'll let you decide:
I have used Pioneer Plumbing a few times over the past year. Usually they provide prompt, effective service. Until last week. I called asking for a plumber to come out and deal with a faucet that was not providing hot water in the kitchen.
They sent someone out, he was unable to repair the faucet on site since we needed a replacement. Understandable, but could you reinstall the old one so that we can use the cold water in the meantime? No, it would be a waste of my time. Just get a new one tonight at Home Depot and I will reinstall tomorrow was the reply. My reply, I am a little concerned given it is the week of Christmas and this faucet is 3 years old that I may not get it, or something else will go wrong - would you please reinstall the old one? Again the reply being, No, really it is a waste of my time - I will just come back tomorrow - it will all be fine.
Later that night in Home Depot - no faucet. I went home and looked online and it could only be ordered from obscure faucet companies since this model is no longer made. I ordered the faucet and sent a message to the plumber that my fear was confirmed, I couldn't get the faucet. No call back to me. I sent another message asking him to come out and install the old faucet. He called back to tell me he had already scheduled someone else in my time slot since, you guessed it, it would be a waste of his time to reinstall the old one. I explained to him that some people found it useful to have a faucet in their kitchen, especially over the holidays, even if it was only providing cold water. His suggestion was to deal with it and use the bathroom faucet. I told him that I would really like him to come out and replace the old faucet, with heavy sighs he finally agreed.
So I am talking to him by phone when he comes out to do the reinstallation and guess what! He can't find the washer that goes with the faucet, tells me I must have lost it and there is nothing he can do. I ask if he can use a different washer or replacement part just for the time being, especially since it is just a crappy off Home Depot brand' (his words, not mine - also good to insult the client purchase!). I reiterate that this was my concern from the beginning - that without him reinstalling it on the first day something was going to go wrong. He got mad for me for blaming him (his words) for the situation. Swore at me, told me off, and said he was going home!
So I am about 10 miles away stuck in holiday traffic not knowing what this guy is doing, so I call the company and leave a message. Hi, I had so-and-so out to reinstall a faucet. He just swore at me, told me off, and apparently walked off the job. Could someone give me a call back? Thanks. Half an hour later I get a call from said plumber. He says, I took a piece of tape and used that in place of the washer - you are set until the new faucet arrives. Really? It was that simple to fix? I thanked him and told him that was all I wanted.
Still no call from the company....until, the next week. We would like to get so-and so out there to install your new faucet. My response? Oh, hi. I thought it was really strange that I didn't get a phone call back last week after I left a message regarding so-and-so. Loooonnnng pause, Oh, well, I spoke with so-and-so and he told me everything was fine she responded. I said, I would have thought you would have called me to see if that was the case. Looooonnnnng pause, Oh, well, you know, with the holiday stress,,,and I'm not saying this was the issue, but with unreasonable customers...... Really? Maybe I was being unreasonable, maybe - I don't think so, but maybe? Anyway - you don't even bother to call the customer? Really? Anyway - she clearly didn't understand why I thought it was unprofessional behavior for their employee to act the way that he did and why I was surprised that I didn't get a return call from them.
So she tells me that the important thing is to get someone out there to install the new one. Agreed. Set an appointment for 4 days from call, let them know where they can pick up the faucet (asked if I should get it and she said they had no problem picking up, she even read the address they had on file). 4 days later a very friendly plumber shows up...with no faucet. They didn't tell him he needed to pick it up. Poor guy had to head all the way across town to get it and come back. He installed the new one, gave me the old one and wished me a happy new year.
So - long story short - 5 stars for past decent service and the very competent, friendly plumber that came out today. 1 star for the shoddy service I just described = 3 stars
