They really ARE affordable. Relieved to find a good plumber! To be fair, we only had a clogged drain (possibly 55' down!!!) which is less than most of the reviewers here. However, I am so overjoyed to use the kitchen sink again (no more dishes in the bath tub!).

The price was waaaaay lower than I expected which I am grateful for. The only downside is that they are a little hard to pin down timing wise which wasn't a problem for us but could be if you have something to get to. They never really said specifically when they would show up nor did they call to confirm when they were coming but I'm just glad they came today when I only called them yesterday. They also gave us advice on how to avoid clogs after we paid up.

I'm hoping I don't need much plumbing work in the near future but if I do, I'm definitely calling this company again!

After several calls to larger plumbing outfits and not being satisfied with what they knew about whole house systems, I was lucky to find Chris at Affordable Plumbing of West Seattle. He was familiar with the Aquasana brand that I had just purchased and approached my job with a can do attitude that I greatly appreciated. Chris was knowlegeable and made me feel confident of my choice. I will hire him in the future and would reccomend him when asked.
Thanks, Chris!

My real estate agent and I made plans to meet with Affordable Plumbing of West Seattle. The company confirmed to meet us at  9 a.m. for an appointment and then stood us up. We never got a call or text message back after multiple tries.

Prior to this, we had a very positive experience with the company and were saddened by the lack of communication.

Chris Tempia is fantastic. I've had mediocre plumbing folks in the past, been gouged by SW Plumbing, etc. And Chris is as good as it gets. I called him on 12/30 to report that my newer Rinnai gas heater / water heater was not working and even though he was sick as a dog, guided me through how to take it apart and check key things on the unit. We diagnosed the problem enough to have me get a warranty claim going. The following week, when he was feeling better, he visited my place and called Rinnai to exactly diagnose all that was wrong and get my replacement parts ordered and underway. He will be my go-to West Seattle plumber from here on out.

Chris has done some drain and line clearing work for us and we are hiring him again to replace a garbage disposal.  His pricing is competitive and he does good work.  We will continue to use and recommend Affordable Plumbing of West Seattle.

Just called these guys after Southwest Plumbing quoted me $2000 to replace a pipe that was making my bathroom sink clog up. They came over with in 30 minutes, and 15 minutes later the sink was working great and I was only out $140! What a life saver. Thanks guys!

My mom's sewer line backed up and I was in a rush to find a plumber. Chris came out the next day to go over options and pricing.  The whole repair was wrapped up within 2 days and on budget.  I had a great experience Chris and wouldn't hesitate to use him again!

Thank you!

These guys saved me today! They were able to come out same day, complete a project today that would've delayed my bathroom remodel substantially. Chris was professional, super prompt and basically stopped his day to help me out. I found their services to be very affordable and trust their work. Thanks so much!

I called them for a toilet/bath clog and they were able to come out the same day a few hours later.  They were able to take out a bad clog of stuff my cleaners have probably flushed down the toilet.  I think if I had shopped around I would have been able to find a better price as it seemed a little high.   That's the only reason I'd give a 4 star instead of 5.

Had an appointment with Affordable Plumbing of WS today at 1:30.
They no showed.
Made no effort to notify us.  Did not answer numerous phone calls or messages as to why. It was an inconvenience for my tenants and myself who took time off work to be at home.
And........drains remain plugged.  So much for the local guy.

The name couldn't be more deceiving. They gave me a $5000 quote for 4 hours worth of work. That is more than $1000/hour! Am I in the wrong business? So it seems. I am going to take plumbing classes right after I finish typing this review. I really can't image what plumbers do with all that money! the parts cost less than $50, the rest is labor. All those plumbers should be living in the Bahamas by now with such salaries. Maybe they are. Plumbing job, here I come!

Had a scheduled appointment today at 1:30 pm to install a new kitchen faucet and to repair a water spigot.  Didn't call me to tell me his ETA.  I tried to call him (Chris), and his voice mail is full.  I couldn't leave a message.  Not good.

I highly recommend this plumber.

Update, they did show up to pick up the broken water heater as promised and bid on a couple of other big jobs we need done. This time I got to meet the owner, he was a nice guy very professional and even fixed a small problem that wasn't related to the water heater work they did.

The kitchen sink spout wasn't getting seemingly any water pressure. He keyed in on this right away. The old water heater had alot of sediment that plugged up the nozzle's screen... so that is why I thought it was related as it got worse after they flushed out the old water in the pipes.
-----------------------------------------------
They were fast, professional and the guys who showed up were good guys. Not the type you would be worried about in your home.

Came out same day I called to fix our gas water heater. I've done electric ones before, but never gas and I don't want to be soldering pipes together in that situation. Plus the water heater is down in our basement in a squished spot. Would take two strong people to haul it out half full of water. Why do I say that? Our house is very old and the drains no longer work very well. You can put like a gallon every 10 minutes down them as they soak through the ground below our house, not into the sewer.

Fixing those pipes will be more than we can afford for along time so I opted to hire pro's. I called around quite a bit. I not only liked these guys the best, they were the most honest for the price comparatively speaking.

I was quoted as high as 1,200 by other plumbers. For maybe three hours of work? I bet that makes Dr's wonder why they didnt become plumbers. Hell you could make more that is for sure.

Anyway they would have five stars but they didn't haul off the empty yet. Supposed to show up Monday for that.. When they do that I'll raise it to five stars. No big deal as by the dump there are a number of scrap metal guys just standing around by their trucks who will take it off my hands. But hauling it was part of the deal so... We'll see.

Tom at Affordable Plumbing was fantastic. When I called with a backed up sewer, he was responsive, clear and honest about what the problems might be. When it came to replace the whole thing, he worked with me to get something I could actually afford, and managed to get the job done after some troublesome setbacks. (Other breaks in the sewer line, inaccurate depth and location information from the city, and some extremely questionable clay soil.)

High marks for the job and a great guy to work with.

I rarely write reviews, but this is definitely an exception. I called Affordable Plumbing on a Saturday evening after calling a few other companies in the area. Others were either unavailable or charged the earth (Rooter was going to charge me $280 just for one of their plumbers to show up and look at the issue).

Affordable Plumbing showed up within 20 minutes, solved the problem within only a few minutes. He saved my Saturday, and was completely reasonable and honest about what needed to be done.

Highly, highly recommended.

Tom and Chris are knowledgeable, friendly and reasonable. I am glad they were able to finally come out and help me.

I had a broken hose bib that required a new outdoor faucet replacement. Not an emergency since it only leaked when it was turned on. Lots of plumbing problems are emergencies and while they attended to these I was overlooked a couple of times. Otherwise I would give them 5 stars.

Murphy's Law fully in play while my husband was out of town, my kitchen sink completely clogged on a Thursday night. Friday morning I made a call to Affordable Plumbing based on some rave reviews I read in the West Seattle Blog.

Not only was Tom pleasant and good-humored, he arranged to have one of his guys come over THAT afternoon to fix it for me. Friday! When I arrived home they were there waiting for me and in less than an hour I was back in business. Chris was friendly and professional, and the bill was jaw-droppingly low.

Tom even texted me over the weekend to make sure everything was still ok, which really impressed me. I can't recommend these guys highly enough!

I contacted this company based on the star rating on Yelp. I made an appointment for Tom to come out to take a look at my house and give me an estimate. He told me a time, and showed up THREE HOURS LATER. I had to cancel my plans for the day, and waited for three hours for him to be there for about 5 minutes. He promised he would get me an estimate the next day. Three months later, I'm still waiting for that estimate, though obviously I wouldn't dream of using Affordable now, no matter how affordable they actually are. Total lack of professionalism.

Chris was super easy to work with.. He was able to fit me in the same day I called.  We just had a minor repair, but couldn't manage to fix it ourselves.  Now we have our sink back and a plumber who can do other types of construction/handiwork on our speed dial.. Thank you Chris for your prompt, courteous service.

Tom is a very pleasant and nice guy. However is has no clue how to run a business. Out of the 5 plumbing companies I interviewed to replace our sewer line he was the cheapest. Awesome! He said all the right things, I read a few reviews online, and so felt confidant selecting him. I should have read more reviews. If you are swapping out a shower faucet he seems fine. If you are re plumbing your house, or doing a sewer line; RUN AWAY!!!! He promised 7 days. Since this is our 2nd old west Seattle home, it's our 2nd sewer line we've had to replace. Everything he said fell I place with my previous experience. It took 5 weeks and was left unfinished.
Day one I wrote a check and he said he was going to pull a permit that day. 3 weeks went by and I saw no permit. As they started filling in the trench I demanded to see the permit. (He had been evading that one.) turns out he never got one! So more delays.
More details of issues. 6 times I was told they were coming and would need to cut my water off. So I would plan a day out of the house for my son and I. Only to get home at 5 to discover they no-showed. No communication for Tom. No excuse or new plan. Nothing. Even threatening to fire him did nothing to change his behavior.
If his crew did show up, they would work an hour and then disappear for hours because they got called to an emergency. His crew was left without transport or tools as they only have one truck, so unless all of them left, one or two guys would be left on my property without the ability to work. So they would smoke. My yard is littered with cig butts. We do not smoke! They brought dogs who pooped in our yard, it wasn't picked up. (We are allergic, so do not own any.) my husband stepped in it!
Tom promised to return our yard to exactly how it was before he started. Minus grass seed. I was ok with that. He had left and is u contactable. My sewer line is in, but the trench is not filled in 100%, there is 6 of dirt over our patio, our fence is still dismantled, old pipes and concrete chunks lay scattered about, and our dryer vent was never reassembled.  I could go on and on with complaints and details. I would have fired him had he not been the plumber my contractor uses. (Contractor has been great.) I regret not firing him.
Our entire holidays were tainted and our budget has been blown by Toms incompetence. Safe yourself the stress and money. Go with Fox plumbing or Mr Rooter. They are fabulous at big projects and with the higher price up front!!!

Chris and his crew have been to my home several times for plumbing jobs. They're reliable, Chris always answers my questions throughly and his work is hands-down solid. I'm a DYI girl when possible so I appreciate a pro who takes the time to keep me an informed home owner. One job involved replacing the hot wanter tank/heater which is generally a messy job. They were really great, responsible about cleaning up afterwards. Other jobs were smaller but performed just as efficiently. Once they're in your house things happen relatively fast. I imagine that is one method of keeping their prices affordable and I certainly appreciate it!

I wish I could write 100 one-star reviews for this place.  Working with them turned out to be one of the worst experiences of owning our new home.  We had used them before for a repair and they were very responsive and reasonable, which is why we called them when the shower in our new home was leaking.  They said they could fix it and were interested in doing the total bathroom remodel.  The day they were supposed to start, no one showed.  Not the next day, either.  After some prodding, someone finally showed on Wednesday for a few hours.  And thus it began.  Every week, we had an average of 5 hours of labor on the project.  At first, we accepted their excuses--the main plumber on our project was quite sick, and excessive rains affected some of their other outdoor projects, so they had to reallocate their resources.  By week 10, we knew it was all a ruse.  They were using us to fill the spaces in between the regular business of their plumbing emergencies.

In addition to being very unreliable and uncommunicative, the quality of the work done was very poor.  It was after several major errors were discovered that we finally fired them.  The tile job on the floor looked like it was someone's first job--the joints were not lined up and the colors had not been considered, with several areas where the exact same colors (or even the exact same pattern) were used in adjacent spots.  They also used  green board (cheaper) instead of concrete backer board in the shower without consulting us.  About 30 seconds on google is enough to discover what pros should be using.  The electrical work (which was contracted out) was not done to code, and we had to hire a different electrician to rectify it or risk losing power in our kitchen whenever we used more than one appliance.  Finally, the heated floor was not connected to the power supply before the tile was glued down.  Thankfully the electrician came before the floor was grouted.  Outlets in the vanity area were not set up where requested.  The time between the conversations about our needs and when the work done was often weeks or even months, and I'm sure the workers simply didn't remember.  When our new contractor finished everything and the shower was turned on, the plumbing that these guys had done didn't hold up and we had to hire a new plumber to rip two holes in the wall and resolder.

When reading the reviews for this business, you will find many 5-star reviews.  These come from people who are so relieved that their plumbing emergency was fixed quickly.  If you are considering using this company for a long-term project, I suggest reading the 1-star reviews.  They will give you a much better picture of the professionalism of this company.

Our family (2 working parents and 2 young children) is still recovering from this 4-month experience.  It has taken me 3 months to even write this review.  Try Bottomline Plumbing of Burien instead.

Tom is an absolute CON-man! Don't let this man or his crooked workers near your home! We just got done with another $8000 pipe job, 3 months after we paid Tom and his cronies just about the same amount to replace pipes that we found out they did NOT do... it seems as though they just dug up our yard and sidewalks and replaced a small section or two. One of which, they used the wrong fitting and created a block.. then came out after a month of the new problem and instead of fixing it, disconnect the grey water line so it would not clog any more but instead created a lake under our home!!!! When we called to have them at least even look, they didn't answer any calls and the funny part is the Professional plumbers we had come out, said it would have been faster and probably easier for them if they would have done it right the first time... BUT instead they cut corners to get more money! They are absolute shady, money hungry, no-good plumbers!! Run the other way, really!!

After getting a crazy expensive water bill, we discovered a leak in our water line between our house and the street, which the city informed us was our responsibility. We spent a Saturday afternoon digging a trench in our front yard to identify the problem. Once the leak was unearthed, it got worse - fast.

We called Affordable Plumbing, and they came out within two hours to look at the problem. We soon realized a quick fix wasn't possible, and the whole line would need to be replaced. The quote they gave us was reasonable, and so just two days later, they were back, and had replaced our line in under two hours! We were incredibly pleased with their responsiveness, and would definitely use them again.

Thursday night I noticed that I had a water leak under my kitchen sink. I called Tom and arranged to have someone come out on Friday. Chris arrived and promptly went into my kitchen to determine that the plastic pipe attached to the disposal had detached.  He secured the pipe, did a check on everything and when I asked what I owed, was told nothing for this trip. That is a great business man. I have used them prior to this and will certainly continue to use them, and refer anyone I know to them.

Knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. I left a message mid morning on a Sunday and received a phone call back within hours. Tom and his team got the job done early that week arranging their days around the job (connecting our sink/dishwasher to the plumbing) as quickly as they could while working diligently. They cleaned up after themselves and ensured the job was up to our standards before they left. If we ever need plumbing done we will call them again.

Simply The Best.  Really cannot recommend highly enough.

Tom was at my home within 30 minutes of my call. Super personable, very professional. After deducing the problem, he and Chris used an auger-snake + replaced a cracked pipe under the sink. For a VERY REASONABLE price.

Totally efficient, speedy and thorough. And, no buttcrack.

Had a clogged kitchen sink and bathroom sink (same line). Tried to Liquid Plumbr it, plunge and snake it, but to no avail. Called Tom on Sunday night and explained the situation. Upfront he told me very busy times for him, but would get back to me next day. We coordinated a time where Chris could come out.
Chris and another employee (sorry did not get his name) came out and assessed the issue. After snaking did not work, determined the clog was farther down the line. He was able to blow out the line and clear the clog - also provided a few other tips for prevention of future clogs.
Work areas were swept and cleaned up. The bill was more than reasonable for the 2 hours of work! Both very professional.
Earlier in this post I pointed out Tom/company was busy. He advised me of this (being a small company). I wanted to provide my business locally. Happy with the results and would use them again.

Called Affordable Plumbing of West Seattle at 10pm one evening hoping to leave a message about a backed up sink. Tom answered and set me up with an appointment for the next morning.  I was surprised that he was able to squeeze me in as they had a lot of appointments that day.  Tom's a pretty down-to-earth guy.  No assumptions or scolding and just wants to fix my problem.

Pro-tip: If you go to what looks like is their website and there's a 425 number listed as the contact, do not call that number.  Apparently that's an ex-employee who is attempting to hold their site for ransom.  Terrible thing to do to a great company.  Call the 206 number listed on yelp.  You won't be sorry!

I can't rave about this business enough! After getting some crazy story about how we needed to cut a hole in our wall and spend almost 800 to fix our leaky faucet in our bathtub I called these guys for a second opinion. Not only where they able to come out the next next day but they fixed the problem without a single hole in the wall and at 1/4 the cost of the original estimate. These guys are a true life safer!

I called chris the day before the 4th of July and told him about the problem I was having in my kitchen with the sink that we needed a new faucet and that we had a leak. Chris told me he would be there the next morning at 7 o'clock this was on a national holiday. Chris showed up the next morning early I showed him the faucet that I had purchased and where the leak might be at. He assured me that the faucet would fit and he could fix and find any leaks. Chris came prepared with all tools that he needed he also came with a new garbage disposal just in case we needed a new one under the sink. Chris replaced the old faucet with a new one,  he also changed out the old fittings for new ones which gave us better water flow, got rid of old piping under the sink and fixed and found the leak. Chris went out of his way to check the bathroom sink which also had a small leak and fixed that leak. The entire job was completed in as little as an hour and a half. The price for doing the job was completely fair and reasonable. Chris's service was EXEMPLARY in every way, Chris needs to be a role model for the service industry.  Chris even called me the next day to find out if everything was working properly. I personally have been in the service industry for 20 years and this company for me stands out from the rest. I would use this company for any of my plumbing needs and will in the future. Thank you Chris for making me feel comfortable and doing a job well done.

Wonderful experience! I tried to install a new faucet by myself, when I realized all my plumbing under the sink wouldn't work with the new faucet I bought. After hours of working on it with a friend and many trips to Home Depot, my friend called Tom around 7pm on a Friday night. He was out of town and couldn't come over, but gave us a few tips over the phone. We made progress, but ended up having to call back around 9pm after getting stumped again. He was super nice and very patient with us. He expressed how he wished he was in town so he could come by to help us (even though is was late on a Friday night). Eventually he talked us through it, and we actually fixed it (plumbing and all) ourselves! Thank you Tom for taking our calls so late, and going above and beyond for something you weren't even getting paid for. Couldn't have done it without you!!!

They came to fix a leak in our water line in last year  We were charged $430 and it started to leak again 2 months later.  When I called,  Tom said they only put a clamp on it to fix the leak and would guarantee their work.  We set a day for them to come out and  look at it.  They didn't show so I called/e-mailed  several other times and was told they would come out the next day.  This happened about 5 times and they still didn't come out or call to say they weren't going to make it.  When they finally came (one month later), they said we had to replace the whole line.  We thought that's what they did in June.  I asked him WHY it cost $430 to just  put a clamp on and he said because they had to move rockery (a few only).  They quoted us $1500  to do replace the pipes and said that was a good deal because others would charge double.  They didn't offer any discount for the botched work the first time..  Anyways, we called O'Neill Plumbing to give us an estimate and it cost a little bit more.  Once O'Neil got to the pipe, they told us the work done by Affordable plumbing  in June was shoddy.  They also didn't need to dig out ANY rockery and they came quickly, worked efficiently with 2 other trucks coming by to check and we got the permit a few hours later.    Of course, I e-mailed Tom to tell him what O'Neil plumbing said about the poor job and just wanted him to know since I wasn't here when Affordable came out and did the  work in June.  I figured he was the owner of the company and he should know if one of his workers did a poor job.  I got a RUDE e-mail back from him telling me I must not like myself if I needed to put down others ... that's when I figured out it must have been him who did the work.  I e-mailed him and told him that was not my intentions and I'm sorry he felt that way.... I got a reply Whatever....  Very rude and poor attitude.  He could care less if the customer is happy..  Tom is there immediately when you first call him and then ignores you, puts you off and is RUDE if it's a complaint about redoing a job.

Called Tom late in the evening when I returned home to discover that one of my old galvanized drain pipes had failed.  He couldn't come out that night, but said he'd be out the next morning.  Chris showed up at 8am, described the work he was going to have to do, and did it in about 30-35 minutes.  Showed respect for my home, cleaned up after himself, and was out the door in 45 minutes.  No fuss, no upselling on a repipe due to the galvanized pipes, and overall just a very positive, professional experience.  I will use Affordable Plumbing again...just not soon, hopefully.

Noticed that rust-colored water was coming through my hot water this weekend, so that wasn't great.  I called around a bit first thing Monday morning, and these guys were able to fit me in between things since I was nearby, found, fixed, and verified the fix all same-day.  I'd imagine I was lucky scheduling-wise, but these guys were friendly, informative, and even also pointed out a couple of random maintenance things that I should get on top of.  I'll definitely be saving their number for the next time something comes up (and they do new construction and remodels too).  The rate was definitely reasonable.

Wanted to give them a fair chance with all the good reviews but I did not have a good experience. Tom was very hard to get a hold of - even after his guys had been to our house and made the problem worse. Ended up calling someone else to finish the job.

Double kitchen sink would not drain.  They came out, at the end of a very long day for them, and with a simple plunge fixed the problem (I tried, I really did!).  Three minutes and all better - and graciously did not charge me.  Be sure to call them first!

We hired this company to replace our sewer line and rough in some new plumbing in our basement.  They told us the job would take a week to complete.  After one week they were not even done with the outside and asked us to set up the inspection with the city after they had already told us they had done it.  Then after not showing up for 3 days straight Tom said they were going to finish the job on Friday totaling 2 weeks to complete the job.  Friday came and went and the job was still not done and we had to reschedule our concrete pouring over the new plumbing in the basement as a result.  They then came back on Monday and completed the job but had not gotten the grade right from the outside and the plumbing rose above the existing floor in the basement.  They then had to redo the entire project inside and out which took the rest of the week.  We did appreciate that they fixed the mistake.  However, once they were done we found buried trash in the dirt piles in the basement, a few beer cans and were missing some of our digging tools that were in the basement.  They returned 4/5 missing tools once contacted but stated they did not have the last missing shovel.  They were affordable but not worth the extra savings for this type of a job.
