I really lucked out. I had called two electricians earlier that were referred to me by other companies. Neither one returned my call, so I decided to do some research on the Internet. I picked Accurate Electric after researching the ratings and reviewing their Web site. All of the due diligence paid off because this company is GREAT!
I had an appointment for the following week, but had told Tracy (the receptionist, who was VERY pleasant to talk to) to give me a call if there was a cancellation. Luckily, they had an opening a week earlier than anticipated and the weather cooperated. (I wanted a dry day because of the troubleshooting that needed to be done on my exterior pathway lights). Calvin showed up within an hour of Tracy notifying me of the new appointment time. I showed him the three projects that I needed to have done and he gave me an estimate of the work. I knew that there would be a $59 analysis charge because I read about it on Angie's List and Tracy had reiterated that to me on my initial call. Calvin also reminded me of the charge, so it was not a surprise and I was glad to pay it.
After I agreed to the estimate, Calvin slipped on his shoe covers and quickly went to work. I was expecting that a lot of time and effort would need to be spent to install the GFI outlet because the feed for the outlet was on the other side of a wall that contained a pocket door. Calvin warned me that it could get pretty involved depending on what he found behind the walls, but he was able to install the outlet without drilling through my cabinet. When he was finished, the outlet looked like it had been there when the house was built 25 years ago. Nice and neat, with no additional sheetrock repairs required. The furnace breaker was a piece of cake for Calvin. He had warned me that if a new breaker was needed, it would be pretty expensive. When he opened up the electrical panel, he noticed that only a few wires needed to be re-worked for the furnace to be on its own breaker. After that, he quickly went outside to work on my exterior pathway lights. Those proved to be a little more troublesome because there were eight separate lights and only two were working. After examining the wiring in each of the lights, he managed to isolate the problem with some special electrical equipment, though, and now all of them are working.
Calvin was a master at troubleshooting, worked quickly and competently, and cleaned up after each job. He stuck to the estimates he wrote out before he began his work, so there were no surprises when it came to paying the bill. He even gave me a little advice on mounting a flat screen TV, so I will be calling him to run the electrical wiring for that in the near future. I am so glad that I discovered Accurate Electric. I will happily recommend their services to anyone who asks and look forward to using them in the future when I need any electrical work done.
