My original appointment with Mister Sparky was from 3-6 pm on May 5th; at the very beginning of the appointment window, I was contacted via text message advising me that an emergency had cropped up, and that my technician would be unable to make the appointment. They proposed the next day for the same time slot, which I accepted (it's quarantine, I truly have nowhere to go!). I really appreciated that they contacted me at 3:01 pm to reschedule--I would have been irritated if I was waiting around for hours and then they rescheduled. So, props to Mister Sparky for timely and considerate planning.
On the new appointment day, today, I received a text less than 1.5 hours into my window, advising me that my technician was en route, and gave me his name, employee photo, short personal bio, and a URL to track his location live (which was AWESOME!!! Allowed me to reshuffle some conference calls to make sure I was free when he was close). I received a a call/voicemail advising me the technician's ETA, and a follow up second text reconfirming what was conveyed in the voicemail. It was definitely a human-written text, not an auto-text. Very nice touch.
My technician, Rob, was very, very knowledgeable, and communicated clearly throughout his inspection of my light fixtures. He explained what he suspected, what he was checking, what the causes were that he identified, viable solutions, the costs associated, and his recommendations. He also explained what other potential issues could present themselves, based on how the one light was installed.
During his visit, he asked about any other electrical issues he could help with while he was there (above and beyond the call of duty!). I took him up on his offer and he checked out two of my faulty under cabinet lights for me, and gave me a quote on those in addition to the work he'd already completed.
He was able to complete his work without shutting off the breaker, which would have also shut off the power to my home office and internet router... so that was great, I was able to get some work emails taken care of as he labored.
Rob used shoe covers, eye PPE, and other social distancing countermeasures. He was very considerate of my neighbors' needs when he parked the Mister Sparky van, and re-parked in my driveway at my request after I realized the garbage trucks hadn't come for my street yet.
This is the second time in 6 years that I've needed an electrician, and both times I've used Mister Sparky. I have no plans to call any other electrician for any future electrical needs.
Edit: When I booked my appointment, the lady I spoke with (Michelle, I believe) very, very clearly communicated the $59 flat trip fee. She also explained the expected price structure of the solutions that would have been available to me after the technician diagnosed my problem. Rob did precisely what Michelle explained. He showed me all of the cost components of the solutions available to me, including the cost of parts/supplies, and labor. He did all of this on the Mister Sparky iPad, and it was plain as day what I was selecting, what I was paying, and what was included in the cost. He obtained my approval twice, before work and after, along with my signature on the iPad. He also took plenty of pictures before, during, and after the work, all of which were attached to my invoice. My invoice was emailed to my email address of record within 20 minutes of his departure. All said and done, the visit took maybe an hour and a half, tops. Oh, and he cleaned up the work area after he was done! (Some insulation from the ceiling fell down while he was working, but he still tidied up. I have no issue cleaning up after work is done on my house, its my home, after all... but he showed a lot of respect for my home by cleaning up himself.) I felt I needed to add this information after I read some of the one-star reviews that used words like scam or implied that deception or up-selling was experienced. I never felt deceived, I was never unclear on pricing, I had explanation all of the steps he would take prior to beginning work, and I didn't feel pressured to do work that was not needed/wanted.
