The Good:
:: they were responsive and are a local business
:: they were friendly
:: they were able to correctly install outlets I needed on the outside wall of my bedroom and area outside my gazebo

The Bad:
:: they put some sales pressure on me to replace the lights on the patio area and I said it was fine. however, they still took the liberty of removing the light cover from one of them and then put it back but it now doesn't quite hang right and sags slightly on its side

The Ugly:
:: the outlet they installed on the patio wasn't using the right screws and anchors. as a result, the outlet comes out of the concrete wall. they kept flaking on me when they said they would come back to fix the issue, week after week, text after text. finally they just stopped responding to me. i tried to fix it myself and used some strong epoxy and it fixed one corner but the other one is still not quite right.

Would I use them again? No. Pissed that I have to follow up after their work and fix things myself. Good companies guarantee their work--this place isn't one of those. I learned my lesson to do more due diligence outside of just seeing a high Yelp rating!

Welp this went wrong. The two outdoor electric outlets they put in can't handle a mower or a blower. I called and said I would like them to come back and the BLOCKED me. I was shocked. They have no intention of responding or correcting the issue. Buyer beware. Test out the electrical sockets with actual equipment.

I made a huge mistake going with Jacob's Ladder. Knowing what I know now, I wouldn't trust these guys to change a battery. I had them come out to replace bad GFCI outlets at my girlfriend's house. She has five GFCI outlets. They only replaced four. While I can somewhat forgive this because the outlet was behind a microwave, the breaker box very clearly indicated which breakers had GFCI, and the microwave/fridge breaker was labeled as GFCI.

Now for the super egregious failing of their job. Two of the GFCI outlets failed within six months, so I took a closer look at what they did. They placed 15-amp GFCIs on two 20-amp outlets, and they placed a 20-amp GFCI on a 15-amp outlet. These guys only managed to get 1 of 5 outlets correct! What a joke! Are they incompetent or do they just not care? I'm not sure, but I highly recommend going was somebody else.

We've proclaimed Neal from Jacobs ladder our OFFICIAL electrician after two well done, thoughtful and affordably priced jobs. He's a good communicator, too.

Neal installed a complex whole house surge protector and took care of a few odds and ends that needed maintenance. He was friendly, arrived on time and was COVID-careful.

Had 8...yes 8 fans and some lights to hang and man were they done fast. Great job on them all and they wired them all in and I watched so it was apparent this was easy for them. I would take 1-2 hours per fan and at least three blood pressure pills and 12 ibuprofens. So needless to say it was worth every penny and was a reasonable per-fan price.

This guy came out and fix the problem for a fraction of the price that another electrician wanted because he found out what was actually wrong and didn't offer a solution that was made up. I will definitely have him out to do more work on my house.

Jacob's Ladder installed a NEMA 14-50 plug in our garage for electric car charging. At first, we were happy with the work, service and price. However, when we had a professional inspection done they discovered that they did not install a protective bushing where the wires enter the panels. This is dangerous.

Upon contacting them, they were prompt to respond and apologize and said they would fix it ASAP. It has been a month and a half and after multiple follow-ups, they still have not come to fix it. We are now going to have to hire someone else to do it, because we are selling our house.

While they were generally responsive to my follow ups, there was always something preventing them from resolving the issue. Even a request for a quote for another electrical issue we submitted was never answered.

I liked them very much when they came for the initial install and it does sound like they are facing some challenges. But, I thought others should know as they consider Jacob's Ladder as an option right now.

DON'T HIRE THIS ELECTRICIAN.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Extremely poor electricians.

They attempted to update my sub panel.

Had the panel inspected by a master electrician after they were done. Master electrician reported that the panel was not up to code, dangerous, and a safety hazard.

Also when the were installing the panel they destroyed my garage door opener, microwave, and HVAC system.

DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY. FIND SOMEONE ELSE.

When I reached out to them for a refund/or to come back to fix the problem, I was ignored.

If I could I wouldn't give them any stars. The owner said he would come out totaling to four different times to take a look at what we wanted done. Each time he never came out like he said he would or just plain ignored our agreement to meet. Wasted our time waiting for him. Horrible business management if you can't even communicate! Just used Neal and Jacobs Ladder for a second project. And I'll never use another company. We had a slightly complicated situation adding amperage for a car charger. Neal texted with me and asked to take pictures of this or that until he figured out a way to do it for a very reasonable price. Other electricians just say hmm, you're effed -- it's gonna cost a boatload of money. He's fast, punctual, and courteous. A++++++++

Not sure how this business has the rating it does. I requested a quote via Yelp after trying to call and not getting an answer. I specified my time-frame as flexibe, and all I got back was I'm booked for this time. What time? I said I was flexible. Not even a Hello. I won't be able to get to you for X days/weeks. Is that okay? I mean, WTH is wrong with these people who run businesses? I just don't get it.

Jacob and his associate are fantastic. I recently bought a house and had some GCFI and breaker issues come up during the inspection I hired them to address. When they came out they discovered the GCFI plugs were wired incredibly wrong, and would have caused major issues. They explained to me simply how it was done wrong, what they were doing to fix it, what the costs would be, and thoroughly checked around to make sure they did not miss a plug. I also casually mentioned a light switch that was annoying me, and they were able to quickly explain what was wrong with it and fix it. He also noticed I had a ring doorbell and nest thermostat I had not installed yet and offered a quote to install. I went ahead and had them do the doorbell and he did a great job.

Fast forward a few months and when we went to use an outside plug, it started smoking. When I messaged them again through yelp, he came out that very day. Thankfully Jacob assured me that it would not have burned down, but showed me yet again what had caused it, and what he was doing to insure it would not happen again and at what price.

The bottom line is that Jacob (and his associates) have always been great to work with, incredibly helpful, with reasonable prices. And they like dogs. I know I will use them again in the future, and have already recommended them to others.

We had a GFCI outlet issue that was causing us great distress with our holiday lighting outside. It was knocking out power daily. We contact Jacob and team about the issue. They promptly answered the inquiry within 10 minutes and was willing to send his partner out at 10 pm last night.

Being that holiday lighting is not an emergency, they came early this morning. Mark was helpful, insightful and fixed the whole issue of the GFCI outlets and explained to me the circuitry involved and what he did to help each GFCI outlet (in bathrooms and outside) from being independent of one another. Prompt, friendly, courteous service. These guys are good. Strongly recommend!

I paid for an electrical inspection of my business over 2 weeks ago. They were 45 minutes late and then never sent the report. They've told me almost every day for the past 2 weeks that they will send it today and the first five times, I believed him. Taking payment and not rendering service is considered theft. They took advantage of the fact that I assumed they were an honest business and cashed my check without completing the job they were paid for. Disgusting.

Jacob arrived within an hour of my call and found a wire arcing inside of my wall that had been interrupting the AC unit. The outlet was destroyed and smoldering and rather alarming.

I booked an appointment over a week ago to wire and install a ceiling fan on my patio for today at 11am. 11 came and went. I sent the company a message at noon asking if anyone would be coming. No one called or showed up and I just now got a yelp message (after 4pm) saying that they overlooked my appointment. Unless you want to waste your valuable time, I'd suggest going with a company that actually shows up.

User error on my part not checking the breaker box. They only charged me their minimum for coming out which is about half of what they quoted me for doing the whole job. Check your breakers even if you think you've checked them! Lesson learned.

Awesome job. I found them through Yelp when I requested a quote from multiple companies. Jacob's ladder was first to respond and straightforward and informative with their response. I needed them to install a NEMA 14-50 outlet for my garage to charge my Tesla, and they offered a fair price. After they showed up and got to work, it was Black Friday and I found a good deal on a Nest Doorbell at Home Depot. They already had to go there to pick up some other materials, and they picked it up for me and installed it when they got back! During the install they encountered minor roadblocks but were quick to find solutions. Amazing work and I will use them for all my future electrical needs! I even took them for a ride in the Tesla after! Thanks Jacob's Ladder!!

Jacob was very responsive through my interaction with him on Yelp and we were able to make a quick appointment at the time I was hoping for. This guy is amazing...
We just moved into a rental and needed/wanted a 220V connection in the kitchen. Jake came over pretty much immediately after we called him and made us feel at ease right away... No usual handyman behaviour like: Oh, this is difficult... blabla... Nope, nothing like that at all... and the estimate was way lower than any other we had heard of... The installation went super smooth too... everything was installed in no time and these guys even cleaned up... Perfect! I am so glad I found them and he/they really deserves to be the busiest electrician in town.

I contacted Jacob about giving me a lighting estimate for a small condo complex. The next day Jacob sent me a quote in a text message and I explained to him on three occasions that I needed a detailed quote in writing to present to my HOA to approve the work. I'm still waiting for that quote and my meeting is in two days. I messaged Jacob and told him not to bother sending me a quote because I didn't feel he was being honest and was wasting my time. Jacob responded and said he was very busy and made me feel like other business was more important than my business. I called Jacobs Ladder because the yelp reviews were good and I thought they would do a good job. I don't feel I was treated in a professional manner and I won't be doing business with a company that makes promises they can't keep.

So happy I contacted Jacob! The day after Christmas, I was cleaning up a huge mess in the kitchen. I turned on the garbage disposal and after about 2 seconds, the disposal and the dishwasher turned off. I assumed it was a breaker, but after checking everything I know how to do with no luck, I searched yelp for an electrician. Because of his super high reviews, I sent Jacob a message. He replied within 10 minutes, and even though I let him know I didn't consider this an emergency, especially the day after Christmas, he let me know that depending on the cause, it could be a dangerous issue and he would be over within the hour. He was on time and found the cause of the problem and fixed it. It was a melted down component in the outlet, so it actually could've been dangerous. Unfortunately, it had fried my dishwasher, but he still tried for well over an hour to fix it. At least I got my disposal back, and the dangerous situation no longer existed.

While he was there, he suggested I consider a ring doorbell and let me know that he installs those all the time. I just happened to have one that I hadn't gotten around to installing yet, and so he offered to do it right then.

All of this to say, Jacob is a super nice guy and sincerely wants to take care of his customers. I felt like his prices were fair as well.

I have a few jobs in mind for the near future and I will definitely contact Jacob for those!

If I could give more than 5 stars I would! WOW! I requested an online quote and they were one of the first to respond. I saw they had been given 5/5 stars on all 16 reviews to date & figured I'd give them a try - SO GLAD I DID!!!! Jacob & Neil were right on time and extremely professional and polite! They did some troubleshooting from a previous install with someone else, diagnosed my problem and installed a new fixture (as opposed to just tearing down the old and slapping up the new). I feel like they went above and beyond from start to finish - very thorough and walked me through each step!

I also asked a few questions about future upgrades with outdoor lighting, kitchen fixtures, bathroom vanities, etc. and got some great feedback as to which direction I could go with my current set up as well as some options for updating/rewiring - I will definitely hire them again once I buy new fans and fixtures! In a day and age where service with a smile is nearly non-existent, it was a pleasure to work with these 2 professionals! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

There are so many cowboys out there. So when teams come to your home who are normal, nice people, it's such a relief. Brilliant job done. Garage door guy gave me their card as a referral. They came next business day and were thorough, polite, professional and reasonably priced. Items: 3 new outlets in the garage and gfi's in the kitchen. Also they went over my Inspection from a house purchase and in checking whether bonding needed done outside. They're coming back next week to put a Surge Protector in place. Definitely hire again.

We were attempting to install a dual light switch, but it kept tripping the breaker. I contacted Jacob around 6:00 pm on Sunday. He responded in less than 10 minutes and was ready to have a technician to the house in less than 30 minutes! From the time I contacted Jacob to an hour and a half later (probably less) our issue was fixed! Mark was our technician. He was very nice, quick, and to the point. I am very impressed with the service we received because it is usually difficult to find a good electrician. These guys are terrific -- talented, personable, helpful, affordable. I needed two light fixtures replaced -- one inside, one outside -- and they came, as promised, within two days of my receiving their quote (which is what I requested). The outdoor fixture was particularly troublesome, because it was up so high and in a cramped space, but they sized up the situation, figured out an approach, and successfully swapped it out.

I was impressed with their expertise, knowledge and experience. In fact, they gave me some great ideas for other areas of the house and explained -- clearly and concisely -- options for various fixtures. They know their stuff. I get a sense that much of the work they do is commercial, but they seemed to genuinely enjoy taking on this smaller residential job. They invited questions, shared their advice, and took pride in their work.

Jacobs Ladder installed a NEMA 14-50 outlet in my garage for charging my EV and did a fine job at a great price within the timeframe they estimated. They have a lot of experience installing these for Tesla charging, and so knew to install the outlet upside-down to allow the Tesla charging cable to hang down instead of awkwardly pointing up. Will call them again in the future when more electrical work comes up at the house.

Jacob and his help were beyond amazing, from the moment I requested the quote to when they left. I received responses through Yelp within 15 minutes each time a question was asked, even on Sunday morning. Their prices and work are amazing. Best of all, the guy doesn't beat around the bush. If a job is going to be tough or require more money, he'll tell you up front. Honesty and communication are key priorities in business, and Jacob's Ladder excels at both. I'll be hiring him again for attic work once summer is over.

Highly recommend for any of your electrical work. Clean up was amazing as well. He installed 9 recessed lights along with two new outlets throughout my house.

Jacob got to us within 15 minutes of me messaging him over Yelp. I had shut off a breaker to half my house because an outlet was showering a bedroom in sparks. He was able to come at a time that accommodated my family's work and school schedules. His price was exactly in line with what I expected to pay (I know electricians' value as the stepdaughter of a 40 year IBEW member). He brought Neil, who actually had worked on my house previously it turned out. They changed out the faulty outlet, then replaced two other outlets that had strange stories to them (one had been taped and painted over by a previous owner of the house, the other was a GCFI outlet in my kitchen that had never worked). They were professional and fast.

He was not the lowest quote I got, but when someone undervalues their work, I don't trust them. His quote was perfect for the scope of work and the experience and he and Neil had zero problems dealing with my home's aluminum wiring system.

Great experience. I'm going to have them back to swap out some lights in my kitchen as soon as I figure out what lights I want. Thanks, guys!

This is your guy! I called Jacob and he got back with me very quickly and professionally. Was able to arrange an appointment and he even accommodated me in my busy schedule. Even after he stopped by the house and checked out the job he did an excellent job following up with me for a solution to get done what we needed to get done in a very timely and costly manner. When it was all done Jacob followed up to make sure that everything was as I would like it and even went above and beyond to explain what he did and how he did it. I'm not gonna lie I'm a very detailed person so I like to know the how's and whys... Jacob was very perfectionism in his follow up email to explain what I needed to know. Theses days it's hard to find a honest hard working Electrition that won't cut the corners and get it done right the first time. Can't say how much I appreciate at that! Worth every penny spent and will definitely will use and refer Jacob and his team to others.

Jacob and his partner Niel were incredible. Long time industry vets and electrical brotherhood members, they didn't overthink anything which made quick work, but they were thorough and thoughtful. They really took the time to understand what I was trying to accomplish and helped me achieve my goal. I had two three-way switches moved, three new outlets installed and three LED flush mount hall way lights installed and they were there for about 4-5 hours and everything looks and functions great and the price was very reasonable. Would not recommend this company. I texted Jacob for service after going for a day or two without power in part of my home. He responded immediately and I was grateful that he said he'd come out that night at 7 pm. He ended up going shopping and showed up around 9 pm but again, I was grateful to have someone come out same day. He listed a number of things that were wrong with the electrical box and got to work. When the lights came back I told him they were dim and he didn't really listen, telling me to try LED lights... we've had the lights for 20 years and they've never been dim but after multiple times telling him it wasn't right, I gave up. Right as he was pulling away, I realized my heating unit wasn't getting power. He came back and started working again, and eventually.. what do you know... discovered there WAS an issue with the lights I kept saying were dim, and got them to the right brightness. That said, he wasn't able to get the power issues sorted out. I paid over $200 for a job that was not finished and left without power going to my heat or hot water for weeks amidst 40 degree temperatures. He said he'd come back, I'll come tomorrow morning more times than I can count over the course of two weeks and never did fix the issues. We had also told him we had some other work we wanted done and he said he'd schedule with us... never happened.

Contacted them on a Friday afternoon at about 5:30 when my washer started giving me little electric shocks. He came out within an hour and checked out the grounding throughout my house, discovering that it was actually my defective washer cord. I was extremely impressed with his response and his honesty. Because he was already very close by, he kindly did not even charge me for the call. Tell me how many licensed professionals do that these days?! You can bet Jacob's Ladder will be doing my upcoming electrical work.

I had Mark and Neil out for two jobs. One was interior; new ceiling fan/light combo and replace all cabinet under mount lights. I had a previous electrical tell me the light on the fan was bad, so I bought a new one. They discovered the wiring to the on off switched was incorrect and fixed it. They also did a great job on the cabinet under mount lights. Second job, exterior home master breaker box, upstairs AC unit fuse stayed tripped. Mark came out at 7pm, discovered a wire was bare and arching the ground, it was also the wrong gage wire for the amps required. They came out capped off old wiring ran the correct gaged wire, replaced the fuse, and it works great. They were priced well, great service, and finished the job to completion. I had what I thought would be a small job, sent it out via Yelp projects and Jacob responded quickly. I called him and he said he'd be over in 30 minutes and he quoted me a flat fee + materials. He and his worker Neal arrived in 25 minutes and quickly identified my problem. Unfortunately, it was not as simple as we'd initially thought. However, Jacob stuck to his previously bid flat fee even though he was doing more work. He and Neal were very professional and took care of the work. I was so pleased that I paid them a bonus over and above the quoted work.

I would give Jacob's Ladder more stars if I could and highly recommend them. I know that he has my business the next time I need any electrical work.

Jacob came out and fitted an EV charger for me and did a fantastic job at a great price. That alone was worth 5 stars, but here's why I'd give him 6 stars if I could: I also had a bunch of other jobs that came up in the inspection report on our new home that I asked for a quote on. Jacobs Ladder kept me informed as to when they would arrive, and only took an hour or so to address the issues listed in my home inspection report. In several cases, that was just confirming that the difference between current practice and practice when the house was built was not a seafety concern, but they did replace several outlets. I will certainly call upon them when I am ready to replace some light fixtures.

Awesome company! I was updating my light switches to rocker switches and discovered that back in the day, the builder ran 2 wires to one screw. When I was trying to remove the switches, I ended up breaking a wire and decided it was probably much safer to call a professional than continue and potentially mess up everything even more. I messaged through Yelp at 11pm and Mark responded promptly and said he would reach out the next day to let me know about their availability. Mark kept me updated and he and his associate were able to come out and fix my booboo as well as rewire it correctly. Since I plan on updating the rest of the switches in my home, he patiently listened and answered my questions when I asked about some YouTube videos about pigtailing since I was sure most of the switches were probably wired with the 2 wires on 1 screw. Overall a really great experience and would highly recommend these guys to anyone seeking honest, great electricians! These guys will be my go-to for any of my future electrical needs.

Jacob and his (brother? I think?) were amazing! The great experience started off with a discussion about what I needed and a quote within about 10 minutes of me messaging them.. I couldn't believe it, since it was a Saturday morning. This was a great first start since my main issue with attempting to get someone else was communication. Others (several!) wouldn't return calls. I get it if someone it too busy but, for Christ's sake, just tell me that!
Well, we set up an appt. and they messaged me beforehand to let me know that they were on their way so I could go and meet them. It was perfect. On time with great communication..what more could a girl want??? My job wasn't a big one, but they acted like it was..
Their work seemed perfect and the materials they used were top notch. They were very professional and polite (but still personable, which is a fine line to walk) and I can't be any happier!

Jacob and Neal are amazing. I have reached out to Jacobs Ladder twice now. The first time Jacob offered the best price and time to fix a photo cell that was out. He was at my house on a Saturday within a hour of me reaching out and had the photo cell fixed in a few minutes. Afterwards, he took the time to look at a couple of more electrical projects around the house and gave me a quote. After a wonderful first experience, I recently reached out again about a bad outlet in the garage the garage door opener was plugged into. Neal was nice enough to explain to me that the issue was not with the outlet the garage door opener was plugged into but probably with a bad GFCI the outlet was tied into. I asked Neal to hold on in coming out as I wanted to replace the GFCI first to see if that fixed the issue. Sure enough, I got a new GFCI outlet, installed it, and presto the problem was solved. Thank you Neal for taking the time to help me solve the problem. He could've came out and charged me a couple of hundred dollars to fix the issue but didn't. I am now a loyal customer of Jacobs Ladder and they will be the first company I reach out to on all electrical needs. Keep up the wonderful customer service Jacob and Neal.

I would give them more stars if I could. We ran into multiple unexpected issues with installing chandeliers that came from out of state with missing parts and other problems. They never gave up and worked out each issue. They were on time, tackled each problem and we had more than a few, and the clean up was amazing. I have searched yelp.com for a reliable and affordable electrical company which could install an electrical outlet for a new range in my kitchen. I had an old range wired directly to the wall. I have found this company and requested a quote. Mr.Jacob was very quick to respond and to give a very affordable price, including materials. If you would check the company's web site, you would see a 24/7 schedule. It was a great convenience for me. I did not need to take a time off from my work. Mr. Jacob and his coworker have done the electrical outlet installation quickly and with great quality. I'm very happy with this project. I would recommend this company to other people because this electrical service is very affordable, great quality and very flexible regarding scheduling.

Jacob responded in less than 30 minutes to my Yelp inquiry. I was in a panic because I got halfway through replacing some light switches in my house and realized I wasn't as skilled at DIY as I thought. It was was 3:00 in the afternoon when I realized I wasn't able to finish the job, but I really didn't think I'd be able to get an electrician to come to my house the same day, or if I did, it would cost a fortune. I was wrong on both counts. Jacob called me and told me he could be at my house in 30-40 minutes, and quoted a price that was so reasonable I almost fainted. Jacob arrived quickly and got right to work, and offered to let me watch what he did so I could learn more about the process. As it turned out, I didn't have some of the things on hand that I would have needed to complete the job on my own, which made me feel like less of a loser. Then, when he finished replacing those three switches, he asked me, what else do you need done? I actually did need another switch replaced, but I thought it would be super difficult and involved, so I asked him to provide a bid and he could schedule another visit to replace that one. He took one look at it, and said that he would be glad to replace it right then, and he was done in less than 10 minutes. As he was leaving my house, he noticed a ceiling fan in my living room that was wobbling, and said that it really needed to be fixed, because it was pretty dangerous like it was. I admitted that I had been meaning to deal with it, and the next thing I knew, he asked me for a step stool, pulled out his tools, and proceeded to fix the fan! Unbelievable! After he was done with that, he asked again if I needed anything else done, so I showed him an exhaust fan in one of my bathrooms that stopped working years ago and needed to be replaced, but I had been putting it off because it's an odd size. He took measurements, and told me what size to get, and to call him when I got it in. I will be having him come back out to install that, and I will continue to be a repeat customer and recommend him to family and friends. Jacob is the first electrician I have worked with in the 20 years I have owned my home who is competent, knowledgeable, reliable, and not overpriced. I have learned over the years that it's possible for electricians to have one or two of these attributes, but definitely not 100% of them. I highly recommend Jacob's Ladder Electrical.
