So...if you're looking for a warm and fuzzy receptionist, stop now. Also, if you're looking for good communication, that may also need some work, but I wanna give big props to Eddie he gets 10 outta 5 stars. He thought he was coming for an estimate in the afternoon but I'd confirmed the week before they'd be there between 8-9 am, to get the job done!
So, Long story short, if you're looking for a bend-over-backwards- to-make-it-right kinda guy, Eddie, at Excalibur, is your man.
Long story long, read on: I had scheduled a follow-up appointment  with Excalibur 2 months ahead (had an assessment and estimate done some time ago, and I live out of state, also had to have the HOA notify the other condo dwellers about the water shut off ahead of time ) So, Eddie showed up and saw I had a literal tower of faucets and parts that I'd been advised to buy for the work, he was pretty confused. (He thought he was there to have a look around not to do the repairs). He was not certain that all of the fixtures needed replacing at all, and methodically tested water pressure to the building, and checked out the sediment in 8-10 possible traps and quickly determined a flush and a few flow valves would like remedy 90% of the issues I'd been having. In the end I returned the fixtures to the tune of nearly 800$, and got great advice along the way. He was meticulous with his pricing disclosures, professional, and knowledgeable. I'll go through this company again, but you know who I'll be asking for!!!

We had an issue with our water heater, thought it was bad. Excalibur Plumbing was recommended by a couple people in our neighborhood so we gave them a call. Micheal was very professional he explained what was going on and fixed it. He is very reasonable we will for sure use Excalibur again for any plumbing issues we may have. ***HIGHLY RECOMMENDED***

It was really more of a 3.5 star rating.

4 stars from answering the phone
4 stars for getting on the schedule quickly
3 stars for the Technician--NOT a plumber & this is being generous because he was nice
2 stars for the price of the work actually done

They charge $200 an hour just to look around for a leak. I agreed out of desperation because my entire first floor floor had flooded. If they actually do anything besides look to diagnose, there are additional charges. They charged me $249 to auger the main sewer line 50 feet. He didn't even have one long enough with him. And after not actually finishing the introducing the auger, the city came by and found the problem but I was still charged over $400 for his wandering around and semi putting the auger down the main line.

The real kicker though was that on the invoice statement, he stated that the home has been vacant for two years! That was an out right, absolute lie! And now my insurance company is questioning this. I told him that I purchased the home two years ago! I said it has never been vacant. Now I have to provide loads of documentation for the insurance company for them to decide if they are going to cover it. This was part of the damage done during the freezing storms here!

He was a nice guy but I was not impressed with his skills or lack of, at all.

I've used this business in the past and had pretty good luck. They replaced a water heater in my old house and fixed a few minor issues in my new house. My current water heater just decided to go out. It was 15 years old so I guess it was time. I contacted several plumbers, including Excalibur, to quote a new water heater and I got an automated response from Excalibur asking me to contact their local office. I ended up chatting with one of the reps via their website who took down my information and said someone would be in touch. No one ever called. In hindsight, I should have called their office instead of chatting with a rep online but when your juggling work, multiple bidders, and screaming kids, you've got to do what's most convenient. I had to give the business to someone else who managed to show up within a few hours of sending a quote to me.

I had a slab leakage. After Jason ran a whole day's manifold diagnosis, he claimed he found out the leaking line. According to him, he isolated the line, the leakage should stop. The pic shows how it looked like a few days later, water was all over my garage. Texted and Called Jason several times, no response. I wrote email to Excalibur, but nobody ever replied.

I paid $1000+ for the diagnosis, Excalibur only invoiced $900+. Called them multiple times, I was told by Bryce that Jason would call me back or Bobby (master plumber) would call me. A month has passed, no calls.

Had a leak reported by my electric water meter. I was very stressed about finding it because of how much water was being reported. Called Excalibur and had someone out within a day to help figure it out. The plumber, Eddie Guerrero, was able to quickly determine the leak to be from a loose connection at the water meter. He was able to tighten it and explained some fundamentals about how the water comes into the house from the city. I really appreciated all the help.

First of all let me say that we have used Excalibur Plumbing in the past and they have done good work and at a reasonable price. This last time, we had them send a plumber to come out to flush the water heater at our residence and at a rental home we own. All seemed to go well, and it was the same plumber that did both houses, but after he left we noticed that we didn't have hot water in our house. Then we checked the rental house and the water heater was dripping from the faucet. Since it was after hours on Friday, no one at the main number answered and there's no ph number for emergency calls. I was able to call back the plumber that actually did the service, and he was rude and abrupt to me , said  he couldn't go back out, and to contact the main number. When my husband called him back after trying again to reach the main number, he was much more pleasant to him ,but  insistent that he could not come back out to take care of the problems. He them advised my husband  how to turn hot water back on that he forgot to do when he serviced our water heater, and to tighten the valve or faucet on the rental house water heater. The water heater continued to drip even after tightening it, and my husband had to run a hose from it out of the garage. Both things should have been taken care of when he serviced both houses. We had left several messages at the main number, but no one ever called us back on Monday.

We called Excalibur on a Friday afternoon.  This was a non-emergency call and within business hours.  The technician showed up and ran a 75-foot snake less than 10 feet and let us know we likely had a broken septic pipe, near the city line and dirt was coming off of the snake.  For this service, we were charged $339 to have someone come out to run a 75-foot snake less than 10 feet.  I'm told this is the standard charge.  We were then quoted $4100 to fix the likely broken pipe.  There was mention of using the cost paid for the initial service and another discount of $199 if we went with their quote.  When I called to discuss possibly putting us on the schedule, if we could agree to a price and offered them $3600 to do the job ($3562 is the actual math w/discounts).  We even inquired about their financing and were told someone would call us back.  No one called us back and they actually countered with $3800 which we declined.  It is unfortunate that this company lost business because they chose to take advantage of the situation.  Additionally, they even showed up at our house as they had penciled us in without our consent.  I was even told by Management that now their crew has nothing on the books because they blocked off two days.  With untrustworthy business practices,  questionable quotes, and lack of communication - I would never recommend them.  If you are this far down in my review, I suggest you call your city utilities first.  Even if they find it's on the homeowner's side, they're free and ran a camera as well.

We had a leak under the kitchen sink and a wobbly faucet.  You never know who to trust. After searching many plumbing company reviews, we chose Excalibur Plumbing. So glad we did!!  From setting up the appointment (Brice was friendly and listened to our issues) to the actual service call.  Eddie Guerrero was experienced, knowledgeable and very nice. Issues were addressed timely and price in line.  We have finally found a trustworthy and honest plumbing company. Thank you Excalibur Plumbing and Eddie, who I will always request in the future.

I had a great experience with them recently when they came out to my house to fix a leaking hose bib. It turned out that I needed a new pipe which required going in through the wall of the bedroom. Eddie was very professional, showed me and explained everything he was doing, and was very friendly to me and my dog.

Late yesterday afternoon the the pipe to the outside faucet of our home broke. To stop the the flow of water I had to cut the water to our house. I started calling plumbers, hoping someone would come respond the same day and repair the pipe. Two of the four plumbers I called, there was no answer and I left messages asking them to return my call. The third plumbing company answered the phone but told me the dispatcher would return my call to schedule the repair. When I called Excalibur, they answered the phone and told me they would respond. Within 20 minutes the Excalibur employee (Richard) was at our home, repaired the break and the water to our home was restored.

Excalibur was responsive, friendly, and did a great job!

We had a water heater fail two days ago. I called another plumber and was quoted $2500.  We thought that was high but with the virus outbreak we were happy to get someone out.  The install was to happen the next day.

I got on our neighborhood page and got a recommendation for Excalibur and was told that person paid about $1350.   I immediately placed a call, cancelled my appointment with the other company.

First thing the next morning EXCALIBUR called, came out installed my new heater and charged me just about what the others had paid.  The service was awesome, timely and they honored social distancing.  I also saved over $1000!! No price gouging with Excalibur!!

I highly recommend this honest company.  Thank you Excalibur for such honest service!!!

Just found out the work they did installing our shower fixtures last August have been ***LEAKING*** inside the walls.  There's mold everywhere, thanks to Jeff.

Beware.  He couldn't have cared less when he came--kept saying he couldn't do this, wouldn't do that, etc.  Outrageous estimates for additional work, too.

Now I know why.  Inept product that we're now on the hook for.

After we request service, we were fortunate Jeff came to our house quickly and help us checked all the pipe and potential leaks may have happened during the storm. Jeff wore a mask the whole time, and was polite and professional throughout the process, and still try to minimize the mess. I recommend them because I felt they genuinely wanted to help as much as possible during this crisis.

Thank you,

I had a water heater replaced yesterday 07/22/19 and tonight water overflowed into my garage. No after hours phone line. Had to shut off water from the city side. I have brand new furniture stored in my garage. The reason I had my old water heater replaced was to prevent this from happening! I hope these guys respond promptly tomorrow morning and make this right!

I called Excalibur to ask to borrow a pipe cutting tool, as a  piece of rebar got lodged into my car. The very kind gentleman, Rich, came out to look at my car and he was able to remove the rebar for me! I had tried for 30 minutes to remove it, and decided I'd need to cut part of it so I could drive to a car place to have it extracted.

If they are that responsive to a stray lady near their parking lot, they must treat customers awesomely!

$1000 to replace a $100 pilot assembly? No way!

Use Excalibur your own risk. They came out to check our water heater because the pilot light wouldn't start. Tech quotes me almost $1000 to replace the gas burner assembly, which is a non-functional part and only used to hold the gas. The part is $140 online and takes about 15 minutes tops to install. His other option was to replace the whole water heater. I almost laughed in his face.

Never mind that the gas burner assembly is not even the problem with the unit and I was told by the manufacturer they almost never have to replace those. Manufacturer then sent me the replacement part, for free, after troubleshooting over the phone, which I installed in 5 minutes.

I thought I'd have to wait weeks to get my burst pipe fixed after the massive snow storm. They put me on a waitlist and said they'd get someone out between Fri and Sun. They called Sat morning and said someone would be here in 2 hours, and they were. Jason found the cracked pipe, fixed it, checked everything, and went above and beyond. He and the owner were both super friendly and professional. These are my favorite plumbers ever!

After finding so many high rated reviews of these people on Angie's list, I called to get an estimate done for some work. They scheduled us for Monday between 12 and 3, they have 2 phone numbers to reach us and communicate with us. It's now almost 5, no phone call, no plumber.

I would appreciate it if they would just say we don't want your business. Sitting around wasting over half a day waiting for someone to not show up has cost us time spent not at work, literally this company has cost us money without even doing anything. Not even a phone call.

I called 5 different plumbers in Liberty Hill and Leander and either received no call backs or they said they had all the work they could eat.

When I called Excalibur, they fit me into their schedule. They wanted my business.

The tech came out, fixed the busted pipe and was done in less than an hour.

Fantastic all around experience. Thanks!

I called many places all over the Austin area to get a quote on having my water heater replaced. I spoke with both Bob and Richard at Excalibur. They were able to quote over the phone after I gave them information on what I currently had at my home and what I was looking to replace with. They were friendly, helpful and responsive throughout the entire process. They were extremely compeitive on pricing using a flat fee system. I was so impressed I opted to go for the additional warranty that they offer.

I was able to book for Friday service on a Tuesday and they showed up on time first thing Friday morning, were very professional and did an outstanding job installing the new water heater.

Bob also called after my installation to make sure everything was done to my satisfaction. I am very pleased with my service and will use them in the future!

I'm blown away. I also have a 6 year warranty no questions asked. Geez these guys are legit and professional.

These guys were Amazing!  Two months ago my pilot light on my 15 year old water heater went out.  They were out within three hours to relight and give us a quote on a tankless system.  The bid was very reasonable so I called the operations manager and asked him if we should move forward with the installation or hold off until the old water heater died. Naturally I assumed he would push me to replace but he said he would hold off until the old one died. I was completely impressed that they didn't to encourage me to buy right away. Two months later on Thanksgiving it started leaking.  I called Excalibar back on Thanksgiving thinking I would be leaving a message and they answered. Not only did they answer but they scheduled replacement of the hot water heater for Monday and it was done by the end of day on Monday. We couldn't be happier with the service or the tankless product. I would absolutely consider paying a little extra to get the recirculating system so that you have on demand hot water. It's really nice to jump in the shower and have hot water immediately.

My old water heater began to leak.  Excalibur was quick to get me scheduled.  The servicemen explained what needed to be done and why. Excalibur replaced the water heater with a new, larger water heater and brought it up to the current code requirements.    The brand they used is one that I researched and had excellent ratings.  The switch out was not an easy task.  After it was done, they took the time to show me key features and how to do maintenance.
They were excellent overall!  I would use them again and recommend highly to others.

Used Excalibur a little bit ago and forgot to post a review. Service was amazing. They were upfront and honest with the work that needed to be done. No hidden fees or charges. They left the house cleaner than they found it and engaged with the family as if it were their own. Kids had lots of questions and as kids do, got in the way at times. They were professional and courteous and treated the kids as paying customers giving them answers and treating them with respect. I'd recommend them to anyone.

Our water heater was past its replacement date and was getting rusty as well as leaking into our garage. Bob, from Excalibur was flexible and informative and sent Corey on a saturday morning. These guys are the real deal. I love how they come out first for a complimentary consult. John was so professional and was completely honest with everything. He recommended that we have another company come out just for comparison. It was not needed. My uncle has his own plumbing company and I sent him a picture of the quote and he said the prices were very reasonable and that we should absolutely go with them. So glad we did! We now have amazing hot water pressure and the water is SO hot! Definitely call these guys up if you're considering having any plumbing work done in your house.

Recently, my water heater went out and I called three companies to schedule a quote during normal business hours. Excalibur was the only one to answer the phone and schedule me within 24 hours. Thomas and Richard arrived at my house and quickly wrote up a fair estimate and completed the work within about two hours. They were nothing but professional and also helped me with a super small repair (free of charge!) in my spare bathroom. Something wasn't quite right with the connection (probably due to my super old house!), and Thomas stayed until it was fixed, ensuring I had hot water, even though I'm sure he was ready to end his day and head home!

I was home alone during the repair and felt very safe, treated fairly, and was given the best service I could ask for - as a female, this is all super important!  Thanks guys!

I got a deal with them through Angie's list. They came to do a flush and refused to do it as my water heater was old. When I said there was no disclaimer or conditions to the flush stated on the offer, they checked with the manager and came back and said they won't do it. Mind you, they did not check the water heater. They just looked at it from the outside, said it was too old to flush (it is a 1997). They insisted it would have 'hard water' inside that they didn't want to be responsible for and made up some crazy excuse about how flushing it would cause more damage.
Then then spent about 20 minutes trying to sell me a new hot water heater.
Clearly, the entire offer was just a scam to up sell people.
When I finally did get it flushed, surprise surprise, the plumber said that there was no hard water inside, that it flushed very fast and had no damage.

I never got my money back from Angie's List but that is another story.

Once again disappointed with Excalibur. The service technician didn't even know where the anode rod was. He tried to tell me it's behind one of the control panels. Um, no, it's on the top of the tank. Here's a video to prove: youtube.com/watch?v=wzec… and also this: The anode rod in your Rheem water heater is located on top of your tank. More precisely, your magnesium or aluminum sacrificial anode is visible through a hexagonal head located in the center of your tank under a plastic cover.May 28, 2019 Highly recommend going with a different company.

I highly recommend Excalibur Plumbing, especially Jason. Overall I have found Excalibur to be very reliable, responsive and efficient in scheduling, and flexible when changes are required. Specifically, Jason has helped us to identify and solve multiple issues related to hard-water damage in our home. He has helped us install a whole-home water filter and softener, flush hard water gunk from our lines, install a new tankless water heather, and restore many of our damaged fixtures to working order. Along the way, Jason explained every step thoroughly and always provided an accurate cost estimate of the work. All of this work took multiple visits over a few months and some trial and error, but each time he leaves our home, Jason promises to be back and to be with us until all issues are resolved. From my personal experience, I believe he is talented at his craft, kind, and can be relied upon to do the right thing. We are thankful for Jason and Excalibur Plumbing!

We had Excalibur install a hot water heater a few years ago.  They did great work and the price was reasonable.  Our water softener is having problems,  so we called them out again.  The qoute was almost $2500, and the guy said he didn't know how much was parts vs labor.  I am very disappointed and sorry I have been recommending them.   I was expecting around $1000 based on my research and I will keep looking.

Tale of woe: My hot water heater died on or about October 1. I was still paying off work I had done on my car and I have no major credit cards. On November 12, after paying off the car work, I looked at Home Advisor,  found Excalibur Plumbing, read online reviews, and contacted them. I was able to get financing to have my water heater replaced. I spoke with Bob and after applying for financing, scheduled the work.
Tuesday November 13, Bob called to let me know the team was on the way and would be at my home shortly. Alan and  (sorry, I did not catch the young man's name- Craig, Greg?) showed up about a half an hour later. They were on time.  Big plus!
They replaced my water heater and installed a new Insinkerator. I am so impressed. They did such a good job. The cost was reasonable. I was able to get financing, a  major plus which made it possible for us to have hot water again. The water heater is fabulous! And they insulated the water lines to and from the heater. I wasn't expecting that. Beautiful job. :)
They took such care installing the disposal, making sure there were no leaks and even going to get an additional part. They had to rerun the drain lines and doodle about to get everything to fit and work correctly.
First time I have had a working disposal in 9 or 10 years.
Alan took time and exhibited extreme patience in talking to me,  and explaining everything to my satisfaction, and his.
Long/short:
They responded to my query in a timely manner. They worked with me to be sure I got everything I needed and wanted. They communicate well and the team that came to my house worked well together and did a good job. They do excellent work for a reasonable price.  Five stars!
I will use them again.

So happy I called Excalibur when I noticed the hot water running red! Louie came out and determined that one of our water heaters was leaking and the other was likely to start shortly--both tanks were full of rust! I was able to schedule replacement for first thing the following morning.

He was polite, honest, efficient, and even good with both kids and pets. He took the time to explain the type of plumbing we have and how that could affect future repairs if they become necessary. He made sure that I knew I would need a roofer to come and check the seals around the vents attached to the water heaters (they're in our attic), and he also went above and beyond in making sure that everything was cleaned up and in as good or better shape than when he arrived.

I honestly can't say enough nice things about Louie and the crew at Excalibur. They will always be my first call if something goes wrong with our plumbing!

These guys are fantastic. I felt their initial quote was a little on the high side at first, but I am so glad I had them do the work. They have proven to be honest and they absolutely look out for the customer.

Without getting to specific, it took a couple trips to my home and home depot for the problem to be solved, but my plumber really went the extra mile to find a creative way to solve the issue that saved me thousands of dollars.

Thank you again for your excellent service.

OK.  We are a member with this company by paying for 3 years of on call service.  Recently we called them to help with a clogged drain in a sink.  They scheduled us 5 days out.  OK not really helpful.

But then when the guy showed up, he said that the drain is clogged.  He will have to diagnose and fix and it will cost me $139.  Hello!  I called them to look into the clogged drain.  He did not provide me with any new information.  When I protested, he just left!

Never going with this company again.

I had a variety of little things that had built up over time that needed a plumber to fix then but I let them go as no single one was worth a call. Then when I had my stove moved and wanted the pipe extended so it fit properly I gave these guys a ring.

Thomas came out and quoted the job and all the little things that had been bugging me. I picked out the major ones (budgets to be met, after all) and he got started. He worked quickly, cleanly, and professionally. Everyone was done right the first time and he came in a little under the estimate to boot.

I would certainly recommend 'em and use 'em again.

Three stars as they were courteous & punctual.
Dealing with plumbing companies in Austin area is like dealing with doctors or celebrities. They dictate the time, price, there are no guarantees, and you still pay them $300/hour.
Like many other plumbing companies, even Excalibur didn't want to spend any time repairing or diagnosing. They come out and simply start offering you replacement options. It is the standard formula, even if a small part is malfunctioning, why spend time in opening, diagnosing & repairing when you can make thousands easily in 1-2 hrs and just replacing it.
Free estimates are a hoax, when they come out - they simply offered me a replacement price, and when I asked about the issue, they said they will charge $99 to open and diagnose. Eventually, they give you such a high price point for repair that replacement just seems the only option.
I asked them what the issue is - NO ANSWER besides, its old and needs to be replaced. I got their free estimate to replace the water heater which was $1300+. I insisted on repair as I do not like throwing away repairable appliances into landfills and destroy our environment, they said they will replace the parts but there will be NO GUARANTEES. They offered no expertise and couldnt even guess the issue or if the part replacement would work. Moreover, without diagnosing - they fed misinformation to my tenant that the water heater needed to be replaced, setting wrong expectations.
I checked and water heaters I needed, and were available for as low as $500 online. So in any case, they are making over $300/hr on installation - not to mention the brands they install are low-end at best.
My advice to consumers -
- Always ask to diagnose and repair first, don't fall into the replacement trap
- Check new appliance prices online, before committing
- Ask for labor only, installation only rates
- See if a handyman can do it for you, you dont need a master plumber for all jobs
- Ask for which brand and capacity they will install for you and make informed decision.

I have used Excalibur plumbing 4 or 5 times and each and every time they are outstanding.  Today was Jacob and he was exceptional at keeping the house clean and getting the job done quickly.  In the past I have had Louie come out and do work and he is exceptional as well.  Quick, clean and efficient.
Thanks for all you have done!

We have used Excalibur three times over the last several years and would not call anyone else! Our last visit was a leaking water heater which was old and needed replacing. They came out by noon with a commercial water heater which was 300.00 less than Lowes or Home Depot. Got it installed, up to code and re-routed the drain outside instead of inside the garage, gone by 2:30. Great Job!

Let me put the bottom line first: Excalibur scheduled me in quickly, Thomas fixed the problems in a very timely manner, and I got a better discount.  This is why I keep using this company - they're good!

Of course it always happens when you're getting ready for work.  My shower stopped draining, AND the toilet started leaking at the base, so something was going on.

I've been using Excalibur for several years, and have a deal in place from Angie's List, so I called Excalibur and was given a time frame between 11 and 1.  About 9:30 I called back to see if anyone could come out sooner and they bumped me up to between 10 and noon.

Thomas got to the house, took a look and listened to what had happened.  He set up a machine outside to go through and chew up whatever was causing the clog.  It took him about 20 minutes and everything was cleared out.  He tested all the drains and they were draining fine.

In addition to getting the job done quick and right, Thomas also gave me a better discount than the one I had with Angie's List.

A pipe burst underground in my yard and they were not only great about sending someone RIGHT AWAY to take care of the problem, but Thomas was incredibly gracious when I asked a bazillion questions and hovered a bit while he worked. End result: a price that I felt was fair for the amount of work that he did and a home that isn't going to float away from a broken pipe.  I will absolutely use them again when I have any plumbing needs.

My wife called to see if someone would come out to give us a bid on adding a bathroom in our home.  The man she spoke with was, for no apparent reason, rude with her and insisted that they do not do remodels.  Funny thing is...  Their site says they do.

Opportunity -- we live in the country and have a well as our fresh water source...Since moving in 6 years ago, we have experienced a 'rotten egg' [sulfur] smell coming from the hot water heater on the guest side of the house...As it is used infrequently, we would have to drain it each time we had guests...Hated doing this as it wasted precious water...Called Excalibur to explore a tankless conversion...Recommended against it, as we have electricity vs. propane as power source on that side of house; telling us that unit would 'burn-out' in couple years and we would be disappointed.

Louie [plumber] recommended an air injection/carbon filter system...Explained in detail the issues we were facing and how system should solve our problem...Gave us Gene [owner] at purewaterproducts.com to check out the equipment...Gene was exceptionally helpful and helped us organize the right equipment...

Home Run -- Louie was out the day after equipment arrived...3-hours later installation was completed...Drained the problem hot water tank...Now 3-days later, absolutely no sulfur smell at all...Louie was able to diagnose our issue and while Excalibur did not have the equipment to remedy our situation, he pointed us to the business that did...And subsequently completed a very professional installation...All-in the system and installation was less than a tankless hot water heater...Color us very pleased!!

Strongly recommend!!!

I was contacted by Bob after I posted on home advisor about a leaking water heater.Bob answered all my questions and gave me an estimate over the phone. I had three other quotes at the time. Some higher, when Bob assured me of the cost I decided to go with Excalibur. Bob gave me a installation time and Alan and Fred showed up right on time. Installation went smooth and everything is great now. Very happy and would definitely use them in the future.

I contacted Excaliber to replace my sink faucet & garbage disposal when I talked to Bob in the morning he told me he thought it would run about $250 I told him ok then his guys showed up that afternoon and told me the job is $600 quite a difference. I bought the sink faucet & garbage disposal at Home Depot and they gave me a bid of $330 I would love to know why Excaliber needs $270 more almost double. Needless to say I told them no then they offered to discount down to $480 again why would I pay more for the same job. Excaliber is a dishonest company I would stay away from them if they give you a bid go shop around I assure you that you will beat there price in my case by hundreds of dollars

We had a small leak in the copper pipe running out of our 20 year old water heater that was here when we bought the place. We were told by one company that because our water heater was out of code, they couldn't help us and their only solution was for us to spend $7k on a new tankless water heater. We called another company for a second opinion, and they recommended replacing the heater and offered a solution to allow us to put in another tank heater, but then they drug their feet on scheduling us for the actual work (Hello?! We can't shower or wash our dishes!!). So we finally called Excalibur for a third opinion. Third time was a charm!! Alan came out immediately told us exactly how he could fix our problem, and said he could fix it today. Took him 10 minutes to get us a quote, then an hour to get the parts and return to do the work. The work itself was over in 3 hours. They were able to do the job without demolishing the door frame (other companies said they would have to destroy the wall to remove and replace the old heater), provided an innovative solution to a small space by suggesting adding a booster. And now we can do our dishes again. We will definitely be calling them for all our plumbing needs in the future.

Twice I have called Excalibur to have work scheduled.  The first time, for a water softener, they bid $1500 for the labor and later refused to take the job.  Problem is they are the contractor who plumbed the house and know where the water line comes into the house.

Second job was today and they said they'e be here between 8-12.  So, I clear my work schedule for this morning aaaand they call at 8:45 and say they double-booked and I have to wait for another day.

I just wish contractors would show up when they say they will.

Excalibur Plumbing was 1 of 5 estimates I received for an electric water heater replacement.  I chose Excalibur based on previous favorable reviews.  A date was chosen and Alan showed up, on time with everything needed for the install.  Alan explained in detail what he would be doing and would let us know when done.  When done, Alan instructed me on the use and maintenance of the heater as well as showing me how to adjust the temperature.  The old water heater was hauled away as part of the estimate and the work area was cleaned.  The finished job looked very professional.  I cannot imagine any other provider doing a better job.

I have used Excalibur for years.  I have had them maintain my water heaters, replace water heaters, etc.  Unfortunately, I called them last week because of a slow leak under the kitchen sink of a rental house of ours. I scheduled it for Presidents' Day, from 12-3 p.m.  Bob called me first thing in the morning to see if I would reschedule because they had an employee out sick.  I told him that I would like to keep my appointment. He told me that I would still have the same time frame.  However, in the back of my mind, I kept thinking that they would let me down because I was not a big dollar item, nor an emergency.  He told me they would call me 20 minutes before they headed over, but I told him I would be just waiting over there from 12-3 because it takes longer than 20 minutes to get there and I don't like to keep people waiting.  Sure enough, I called back at 2:45 and Bob told me it could be another 1.5 hours before the tech headed over.  I reminded him that I called the week before but his answer was 'That's the way these things are'..because they had a sick employee.  Firstly, clients should not have to suffer because of employee absenteeism.  A good company has a back up plan for that.  When I told him that he would lose my business, he was just very nonchalant about it.  I even told him that he didn't seem to care. Of course, he offered to reschedule...which is what he had wanted anyway.  I just had that feeling that they were going to do that to me because I was not a priority.  I will be looking for another business that cares about customer service.  Too bad...I recommended them to people several times.  Oh well....time for me to be nonchalant.

We called a few companies over the past few days for an issue with our master bath. Most were dismissive or, at best, could get to us by the middle of next week. I talked with Excalibur after a neighbor's recommendation and they were out the next day at 8 am. Joey was thorough, courteous, and explained his thought process and pricing before he did any work. They were in and out within an hour and definitely earned our trust and our business from now on.

They get 2 stars because the my hot water heater was installed and it works fine.

The problems started after the install. The install was done in January 2013. The city was supposed to inspect the install shortly after. In June, I realized the city had never come. I called Excalibur and got Chance, who at first could not find evidence we'd ever used them for a job. He even asked me When you paid the plumber, did you pay him personally or write the check to us? Clearly, they've had some problems with plumbers ripping them off by taking direct payments from customers. Hints towards possible poor hiring practices? You decide.

Chance eventually found our invoice in his call for inspection folder. His manner implied it was an imposition for him to set up the call to the city.

City came out, failed the install (red tagged it) for an improper drain line material. Turns out they didn't check if we were Austin or Pflugerville, and installed according to Pf. codes.

In August, I called Chance back and asked when they were coming to fix the red tag. After some groaning, he set up an appointment.

Appointment day! Knock on the door. Open the door - plumber is just standing there, staring - no hello, no I'm so and so from Excalibur nothing. We'll call him Dick. Dick says, You have a red tag. So, what's wrong with it? I love how I'm supposed to know what's wrong with the install. I'm not about to begin to tell the professional his business. Dick stomps up into the attic, fixes it quickly and removes his grumpy self from my property.

It's September now and last week I had to call Chance again to get him to schedule the new inspection. So glad I'm helping him keep up with his paperwork! Again, he was aggrieved at having to do his job. The guy is less personable than a wet rag. Thankfully, the city just passed the install so I will NEVER have to call Excalibur again, and neither should you.

My tenants hot water heater went out.

Excalibur was rated well on yelp and Angie's list. I called 3 companies and Excalibur called me back 1st and as it turned out were able to come out the quickest, which was the next day.

The tech was professional and on time. They gave me a quote on the spot and did not charge a trip fee.

The bid was $1200 even which was on the high end of fair. I got another bid for $1100, lowes was about $1200 also, and ultimately I called in a favor and got it done with someone else for $935.

I own several properties and have a bad run of luck with hot water heaters in the last two weeks so I've spoken to or met with 7 plumbers in that time. Excalibur is tied for 1st place on professionalism.

About a year ago we looked at purchasing an older home and had a hydrostatic test performed by Excalibur plumbing for $300. They indicated the house passed the test and we purchased it. Fast forward 10 months and water starts seeping through the foundation in our garage. It turns out one of our cast iron pipes had corroded, causing a giant void under our foundation and cost around $6k to fix. Over the course of fixing the problem, I had 5 independent plumbers give me their best estimate as to how long the problem had been there. They all said based on the large void and the level of corrosion of the pipe, that the leak had been there much longer than a year, probably several years. We feel Excalibur's hydrostatic test should have caught this problem.

I called Excalibur and requested a refund of $300 for the test. The first call I was told a manager would get back to me, but they never did. I called again a week later and this time spoke to a manger. I told him the story and request a refund of the $300. He said he couldn't guarantee work done a year ago and that houses shift. That is a fair assessment under normal circumstances, but considering I had 5 other plumbers tell me the leak had been there well over a year, feel a refund would have been appropriate. I will not be using their services again, consider them somewhat incompetent, but I feel their incompetence has cost $6k and that is inexcusable.

I've used Excalibur several times and would definitely recommend them for any plumbing service or renovations. In December, my main water line busted and they were there within the hour.  A few weeks later, I had them install a water softener and couldn't be happier.  While he was at it, he put in a shut off valve so I don't have to run to the street to shut off the water to the house.  Great response time, great work, and great prices - highly recommended.

Thomas came out yesterday to install a water softener, expansion tank, and replace the cartridge on the shower valve. He was so polite and professional. He explained everything that needed to be done, then showed me the estimate. I was given the option of being a member which discounted the amount by 15% and also included a hot water heater flush once a year (free). There was a slight hiccup with the water softener--but not his fault--where water was still in the line after shutting off the water. This caused water to spout into the garage. He ran, got his shop vac, and made sure everything was dry. He reassured me it was just leftover water in the line that came out. Last night I realized I didn't have hot water, and called Excalibur Plumbing this morning, and Thomas came right out. He was extremely polite, and it was a simple fix--the valve wasn't returned to the open position. He had replaced the insulation with better insulation, and it ended up getting shut off during that. Anyhow, I thought the people there were professional, polite, and quick to return if there is an issue. The only reason I deducted one star is because they ARE a bit pricey. But so long as they provide the service they did, and continue to stand by their work (labor and parts), I would continue to use and recommend them.

Had them out on a Thursday to look at a leak to which they were quick and courteous.Tech found the problem and said they would be back Monday to fix the problem.  Was told someone would call the next day to go over job.  Got no call Friday , and Monday rolls around and no one shows up.  I took the time to tear our pantry apart of all shelves and open the walls on both sides of the leak as well as remove several pieces of ceramic tile all in hopes of having it repaired Monday.  Was told the tech had no business scheduling the appointment , got an apology and was told we could get on the schedule for the  next day.  All i want is for a company to do what they say - how hard is this anymore ?

When i first called Excalibur plumbing, I was impressed with the quick response and how quickly they came to my house.  However, that is where the good review ends.
I was charged 248.00 to have them unclog my drain.  They did not complete the job and the sink backed up again.  I called back and ask if they could come out, they could but, I would be charged again.  Excalibur has no guarantee policy regarding quality of their work.
They also told me I needed a new garbage disposal due to a leak - another 350.00.
I ended up calling a different company who came to the house fixed the drainfor almost half the price.  They also told me I didn't need a new disposal; only a new seal to stop the leak.  This company fixed the leak for free.
I contacted Excalibur back about my experience.  Their comment - no refunds and everyone has thier opinion.
I feel Excalubur tried to take advantage of me and my recent status as a widow.  Would not recommend.

After some research on plumbing companies I decided upon this company as I really didn't want a bad experience. I travel a lot and had a week home here in Austin and needed to get it right the first time. The last thing I wanted or needed was to have to spend time on something that went wrong. Well I can tell you my research came to nothing. First time I scheduled, nobody showed up. No phone call, nothing. Second time I scheduled, another no show. No apologies, nothing. Total waste of my time. Do yourself a favor, if you value your time, don't bother with this company.
