scheduled an appointment last night for today 4 to 6 window.  I explained to the person booking this appointment exactly what the problem was.  I took of of work early so that I could be there, I also made sure my wife was home, so they could get started, at 4:08 I received a call that they were on the way and in my zip code.  I told them my wife was home, and that I would be there in 10 minutes.  47 seconds after I hung up with the confirmation call, I get another call stating that they are not coming and canceling my appointment, because my plumbing issue is not something they do.  Now keep in mind my issue is a clogged drain in my concrete patio that leads outside my fence, they pipe is 3 inches wide, and no longer that 20 feet to the exit point.  I told them this yesterday, and they wait until after its to late for me to get someone else out and not have to pay after hours rates, that they do not do these drains.  as far as I am concerned I had a 2 our window with a promise that if they do not arrive at 6, that they will pay me $5.00 for every minute they are late.  Well I told them if they are not here I guess you will be paying me, and they said no because we are canceling the appointment.  I had a coupon for a drain cleanout for $79.99 and they told me there was a $59.00 trip charge so the total would have been $138.99.  Here is what I see, they probably got a call since they told me the guy who was on the way has already been re-routed, they took a higher paying job, and decided that they will just cancel me and tell me I do not qualify for the service do the punctual promise does not apply.  I took off work early, and now will have to wait until next week to get someone else out.  Stay away from these people, I actually got bids for much less, but decided to go with the big name company thinking they have better qualified master plumbers,  I bet had I gone with one of the craigslist guys, for less money my issue would have been fixed, all they needed to do was snake the pipe.  Don't waste your time with them, they will just cancel on you.

Had a clogged drain, they came out on time and showed me that it was issues with roots going though my pipeline. He cleared the pipe for now and gave me an estimate on the real fix. Will be getting the city out and another estimate just to compare. Overall, did enjoy the communication, the professionalism, and promptness of this company.

Used coupon on their website as well.

I have a water softener that I needed installed in the house I just bought and was told over the phone that they could not give me a ball park figure because each job is custom quoted based on the job.  Sounded a little sketchy but I agreed to let the Plumber come out for the $59 and it would be waived it I decided to do the work.

The plumber was very nice and courteous and when after looking at what needed to be done instead of a custom quote he pulled out a book of prices, how is that a custom quote!  After finding out it would cost $2k for the install, which is insane because the materials needed are only $100-150.

They charged me the $59 fee which I feel was VERY unethical because how hard would it have been for the person on the phone to look in the same book and tell me the price, not very hard at all.  Even better have a button on the screen with all their scripts to press and show them an estimated price.  I do consulting for a living and if I ran my business this way I would be out of business.

I feel like they stole $59 from me and cannot recommend a company that has no ethical problems with stealing money from their potential customers.

Thank you to Benjamin Franklin Plumbing for being great to work with today. Specifically, thank you to Chuck for being so helpful. As somebody who has worked in customer service practically my whole life, it truly is refreshing to have somebody like Chuck come by and be knowledgeable, honest, kind, dependable, on-time, and trustworthy. Thank you you were a great help. And thank you Ben Franklin Plumbing.

Job:  repair leaking water valve outside of house.  NOT the cutoff at the street.  This was NOT an emergency call.

Let me preface this review by noting that I did not have them perform the work.  They only provided a quote so I cannot comment on their work.

Why did they only provide a quote?  The person that showed up to perform the job luckily provided pricing before any work was done.  He stated that an exact figure could not be quoted until he got into the shut off box but it would be one of two prices.    1.  In-ground water repair - $1325.00.   2.  House Shut Off Assembly Replacement - $1685.00
I knew these figures were exorbitantly high.

Another licensed plumber performed the work for $429.00.

While I understand a company has to make a profit, a price that is at least THREE TIMES more than another company should be illegal.

Save the $59.00 they require to provide a quote and call someone else.

I called about a plumbing stoppage.  As soon as I said coupon the guy lost interest.  The stoppage was cleared for about one day and then I had to call another company to come fix it again.  I will never use Benjamin Franklin Plumbing again. Beware, you have been warned.

Felt like I had my pocket picked. For a simple repair that took less than an hour to complete (cartridge replacement in the hot water line of two Moen shower fixtures), I was charged over $500.

Sure they're punctual, but don't let the pretty blue trucks and the local TV ads fool you. You can do MUCH better looking for an independent local plumber.

Would not recommend pricing outrageous and no detailed breakdown of labor, parts just one lump charge almost $600 with $289 trip charge and refused to honor the coupon for a discount. So sorry I went to them I should have reached out to a more local individual company. Oh, they also refuse warranty on their work. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere

The work was good but would highly suggest quoting around first or at least getting detailed estimate of damages and detail invoice with square footage for reference.  I had them come out to check out my washer but was told I had a broken sewer pipe as well that would end up flooding my crawl space if I didn't replace. So they suggested I replace the cast iron.  I had two bathrooms lines and washer line replaced.  Quoted over $15k financed with them.   At least I don't have to worry about my plumbing.

I called about a leaky outside faucet.  The technician told me it could take 8hrs and he'd have to dig a trench -- as if all the world was ending.  He offered me a discount on normal hourly rates as a fixed-fee of nearly $750.  I was expecting him to be working all day.  About fifteen minutes later he handed me the defective part and drove away.  15 Minutes (probably spent ten of it smoking)!!  SCAM ALERT (and, a blight on the name of a Founder; pure slander of that great man)!

I had a plumbing emergency on a Saturday afternoon when the cold water shutoff valve to my washing machine broke when the movers were packing up the house. My normal plumber was not available, so I called Ben Franklin, knowing full well how these 24/7 emergency places can be when they know they are the only ones available to help. They sent someone out within the hour and he quickly replaced the valve. He was very careful and did a great job of cleaning up the laundry room before leaving. I would definitely use Ben Franklin again in an emergency.

Highly over-priced and unprofessional!

I recently called this plumber out to do work on my rent house because our regular plumber was booked. At first the seemed great. But then it got awful.

I should first tell you that their prices are more than double what any other plumber charges. Not an exaggeration. They quoted me $503 just to snake the house from the roof. I have had this done before and didn't pay anywhere near that. I was so shocked I called the company before agreeing to pay. I also called 3 other plumbers to get quotes for comparison. The 3 other quotes ranged from $117 to $189 for the exact same service.

I tried to reason with the guy at the main office and ask him why the prices were so high. Finally I agreed to pay ONLY because my renters were short on time and I didn't want to make them wait for another plumber. At that point the service manager told me, I don't think it's in our best address to service this house since you seem to be upset about the price. I couldn't believe it. I told him, again that it was fine and I would just pay it. He refused and told me they wouldn't do it.

So, I am just warning you. Double the price and unprofessional. When I called another plumber, they were not surprised to hear that Ben Franklin charged that much. They just laughed and said Yeah, we have heard.

Good luck and fair warning.

On time (early actually but they called first). Professional. I think I may have been severely overcharged which would be my own fault for not price shopping. Charged $169 because they had to go on the roof to clear the pipes, around $250 to clear the pipes, and $200 (discounted from $450) to put a camera down the pipes. If you have a coupon for free estimate, you have to have them do the service to get a free estimate. I am getting a second opinion for the work they want to do now because they want $13k to replace one set of pipes from bathroom to septic. Seems high. I will report back again later if I find they were wrong or ripped me off.

This company just preys on people.  We had a gas leak and needed a pipe replaced in the garage wall.  The guy came out and said it would be $2600 because he would have to go through the brick exterior and part of the roof.  (Of a 2 week old house!) When I told him the gas company said to just cut the pipe and replace he said how long have you been a plumber?   We sent him away and called someone else.  Pipe was fixed in 30 minutes without any brick or attic damage.  The cost? $200.  This is a scam company taking advantage of people who need something done in a hurry.

well, this second time out  the charm.  First time with two plumbers I was left with a shower that didn't work and five hours of my life that I'll never get back.. However this time, John come out and didn't leave until everything was back working. It did take him three times coming and going since their warehouse on wheels didn't have everything.... (chuckle).  Bottom line, John did a great job and was good dude.

Terrible service, communication, and follow up.  They have still not been able to produce an actual receipt for the work done after 8 separate requests to do.  The valve from their installation has failed twice filling the attic with natural gas twice in 30 days.  They charge twice as much as anyone else then can't even produce a receipt for supposed work completed.  Spoke with two different managers including an operation manager.  Co-Serve and independent housing inspector both stated unnecessary work was completed and charged.  I gave both managers an attempt to make it right and they offered a bag of beans compared to total project charge.  You can get better service and results taking your luck with anyone else.  You will obviously save money and results can't be any worse.

I called 3 plumbing companies. The first 2 were answered by voice mail. I left messages about our water heaters leaking, please call asap. after nearly an hour, after no calls back, I called Benjamin Franklin. The phone was answered promptly and a plumber was at our house with in an hour. We were given options for repair or replacement. They are here next day doing the job we requested.  Awesome response and efficient service! Thank you Jasmine and James!!

$80 trip charge on top of the service. We received a coupon in the mail, so we called them for some minor work. The guy shows up, and adds a $80 trip charge on top of the already almost $125 to unclog a drain. Are you kidding me. Over $200 to unclog a drain... Oh, and when we spoke to them on the phone before they showed up, the lady told my wife that he would come a diagnose the issue before performing any work. The plumber just showed up, did the work and then called for payment..... Didn't even call to say what the issue was or what the cost to fix would be. Just charged it.

These guys are really good at customer service. You make a call and they do everything they can to get you service ASAP. I had a window today and got a call much earlier saying a tech had freed up and could come early if it was convenient for me. It was.

This is the second time I have used them and both times the guy was courteous, contentious, and thorough. I never feel like I am getting the bait and switch with them as their pricing is always up front. I am a big fan and will use them for future needs.

This company does not guarantee their work. Came out to repair something, I paid them thinking the problem was fixed. Two weeks later, the problem was still present. Was going to charge me AGAIN to come back out. Even said that if it wasn't fixed the second time, I would have to pay AGAIN for them to come out the third time. No thank you. Ended up going with Hutchins and the problem seems to be corrected.

Prompt and knowledgeable but quite expensive.  I wanted to make sure my gas lines were safe in a new property before having them turned back on.  I called Bacon Plumbing which I found on Google and arranged an appointment 6 days later, which was their earliest availability.  They were over 2 1/2 hours late and after looking at things decided they needed to call me back with a quote.  From the interaction it was easy to see they were not the guys for the job.

I knew Benjamin Franklin guaranteed to be on time or they pay you.  I figured I could make some easy cash so gave them a call.  A shocking friendly answer on the first ring!  They gave me an appointment time the next day.  I will note that although they guarantee to be on time they give a 2 hour window to arrive.

Still, they arrived about 5 minutes into that 2 hour window!  He looked at my gas lines from inside the house and said they were fine, it was $59 for the visit which I didn't think was too bad considering the previous plumber - which although had offered the estimate visit for free had basically wasted 3 hours of my time.

While he was there I asked about a water line that was capped off in the front of my house.  He said he would need to crawl under the house to see where it was capped and what would need to be done to get it working again.  To even go into the crawl space would have been $480 - that is just to take a look.  He thought the repair would be around $1000.  Yikes!  Fortunately, I was able to do it myself in about 2 hours after some YouTube how-to research.  I will say crawling under a house in a 2 foot space of dirt is not desirable but far from a $1000 discomfort.

All said, I would call BF again for the $59 trip fee and knowledgeable advice but probably cannot afford to have them do much work.  They are very professional and reliable though.

Overpriced and unethical!  Charged $232 to hook up a grill to an already installed gasoline.  Took the tech five minutes.  I complained about the price and he took $50.00 off.  However, when i got my  receipt someone signed my name that i agreed to the charges before they were completed and this was not the case.  If I'd known it as going to cost so much; I'd found someone else or done it myself.

I would not recommend this company but if you do use them, ask for a quote in writing before the work is started.

I did not get what I was promised.  Technician showed up without the promised advanced phone call.  Did not give me a quote before he started working and I was charged $388.00 to install a new cartridge in a sink and a new sprayer.  I provided the parts.  Worked out to just over $300/hr.  Now my sink faucet is not properly seated in the counter and it is loose.  My other repair to an inline filter required plumber to order part. I had to call for follow up information, if they could get it, when they would be back, etc...   Not a great experience and the price was ridiculous

The company was able to schedule a prompt service call. The plumber arrived on time and called us beforehand to let us know when he was about 25 minutes away. Our plumber James was courteous and professional. We had an older tub/shower combination that was leaking. He fixed the leak and went out of his way to replace the aging shower handle-at no extra cost. We were charged for the job and not by the hour, which I prefer.  We did call another plumber to shop price, prior to calling Benjamin Franklin. Both were in the same price range, and the other plumber wanted us to do the work of locating and purchasing the parts to save costs--no thanks.

How James from Benjamin Franklin went above and beyond - James let us know that the shower handle was on its last leg and starting to fracture. He could have left it at that, especially since he didn't have the replacement part, as the manufacturer of our shower components had gone out of business several years ago. However, he said he would try and find a replacement part and return to swap it out at no extra cost. He returned but the replacement part wasn't a perfect fit, so he left and came back another day to replace the handle.  It wasn't a very costly handle replacement and we probably could have done it ourselves, but James went the extra mile without charging us to see the job all the way through.  He even gave us an extra replacement as we had another bathroom with components from the same out of business manufacturer.  We've had other plumbers come to our house in years past, but none that stood out like James did.

Arthur is the best! I didn't read reviews before I called or I probably wouldn't have. He was so knowledgeable and sincere and did not leave until it was fixed. He stayed until 6:30 pm on a

Absolutely horrible and a rip off.   Not only are you charged a $59.00 trip charge for them just to show up as the technician said, they wanted to charge over $200.00+ dollars to write up an estimate (which is what I thought I was getting for the trip charge).  Said they had to measure and use a camera for the sewer line even though I have pictures and measurements available from the City.  Then to pay by check, they wanted every personal identifiable piece of information from me....asked for just about everything but my first born.  The technician was argumentative and sarcastic.  I would not recommend them at all.   I will also post this on the next door app in my neighborhood to warn others so that they do not get ripped off by unreasonable pricing.

Would not recommend this plumber--they operate on commission and will try to upsell you on everything.

My fiancé and I recently purchased our first home and identified a hot water leak at our house, which we believed to be a slab leak. We called Benjamin Franklin Plumbing to help us detect the exact location and quote us for the repair. Their technician came out and only used a heat gun to attempt to locate the leak. He did not use sonar equipment--standard practice for a leak detection service--and proceeded to quote us a minimum of $7k-$12k for the repair in an area in which he thought it was located. He also told us we that needed to replace our water heater and replace a toilet. His quotes for those repairs were $4,800 and $1,000, respectively. Keep in mind that water heaters average about $500-$600 to replace...and do not typically require an additional $4,000+ in labor costs to install. The same can be said for toilets.

Prior to sending us his quote, he verbally shared that this is a business and he is here to take our money--just not all of it.

Little did this man know that my fiancé is in the construction industry and we are well-versed in typical costs for repairs. This company is highly unprofessional and inappropriate.

We ultimately used Ken Wade with Leaks, LLC to detect the leak (he showed up sonar equipment and immediately located the spot and identified the exact problem). We also used Dried Piper Plumbing in Richardson to fix the issues. In total, we payed a fraction of the cost for the hot water slab leak repair and a sewer line repair--and, we don't need to replace the hot water heater.

Do your research before calling Benjamin Franklin--the name of their company is quite ironic given the repair quotes they throw out. For reference, slab leak repairs typically cost between $2k-$4k.

Great company!  Truly responsive and customer oriented. They came out within four hours of our call on Sunday before Memorial Day to diagnose and fix a hot water problem.  They discovered the hot water heater had failed and came back on Memorial Day to replace the unit.  Great job, and so appreciate the fact that they came back at 9AM on Memorial day and worked till noon to fix the problem.  There was no charge as the hot water heater was under warranty.   Would not hesitate to use this company.  Ask for James B. as he is extremely knowledable and takes a pride in his work and ability to solve problems.

Customer service was terrible.  They read off a script but don't stand behind their promises.  We had a late-night emergency and called for service.  While water was literally gushing out of a pipe I had a call center guy wanting to confirm meaningless (at the time) account info.  We finally set it up for a plumber to come the same evening and they never showed nor called back.  We recontacted BF they said they were sorry, the tech must not have gotten the message.  We set up a new appointment for the next morning (specific time since I had to leave for an appointment) and again, they didn't arrive as promised nor did they call.  When I called to find out about the no-show she said, sorry, there must have been a miscommunication about the appointment.  I asked about some sort of discount for two missed appointments within a 12 hour window and she said there is nothing currently to discount but you are free to discuss that with the tech when they are at your home.  I missed a meeting and still have a major repair needing service.  This isn't the kind of company that deserves anyones business.

I cannot believe what I am now learning on my second slab leak!   Last July I used this company because I heard water running in the walls.   I was afraid it was urgent, and they were the first that said they could come that day.   I was told it was a pipe behind the bath, it would be around $1300 to fix and he would have to be at my house until late if I wanted it fixed right away.   I said can they come back tomorrow?  He said yes, and another man showed up the next day.   He told me the diagnosis was inaccurate, and the pipe leak was under the slab, and would cost $13,000!!!  I am not a wealthy person by a long shot, so I was flabbergasted, but it needed fixed!  I am just now again hearing running water in that same wall.  So I asked several people who have had this happen, and not ONE of them paid over $3,000!!  In fact, one neighbor said he had his whole house repiped for $10, 200.   I heard from over 10 people, and the price was anywhere from $800 (seal the pipe off and run a new one through the attic) to $3000!

I wanted to add as someone else mentioned, it was blatantly taking advantage of someone who didn't know the pricing on this service.   I just had a wonderful man come out from an ethical company, his face was ashen when he heard what this company did to me.  There are too many good people out there who are plumbers, stay away from this company.

Great plumbers! Honest and actually on time. I had another company come out per my home warranty and they were horrible. It was a breath of fresh air to deal with these guys...they even put covers on their shoes before coming in. They will be the first company I call next time...even if America Home Shield recommends someone else. Id rather pay out of pocket and get the job done rather then deal with BS from a fake plumbing company.

Overcharged for a water repair by $150 and when I've called to ask the technician to give me a more detailed breakdown of my bill I keep being told that they will do it and it simply is never done. Otherwise they were very fast and the repair seems solid. I just wish that they were a little more diligent with their customers after the invoice is paid....

We just moved into the area and not knowing any local services used Ben Franklin Plumbing at a friends recommendation.  We purchased a home not yet 10 years old and the home inspection found that the water pressure reduction valve had failed and needed to be replaced.  Ben Franklin came out and immediately pushed to replace our water heater not yet 10 years old.  When I refused he said that new plumbing code required a pressure reduction chamber installed on both lines.  Not knowing local codes I went along for the bid.  He then removed and showed me the water heater rods, damaging them in the process requiring them to be replaced, charging over $600 dollars for parts I priced a day later at a local plumbing supply place for under $100 dollars.

The Frisco Plumbing Inspector showed up a day later and was open to tell me that I was ripped off.  Only one expansion chamber is required by code and only on the cold water side of the system.  The plumber explained that the system was in series and/or parallel requiring two but that is not according to code.

I contact Benjamin Franklin and they disagreed with the inspector.  When asked pointedly if code only required one he started a long dissertation about the problems associated with only doing one and all the extras they do to insure no future problems.  In short, he never answered the question but rather further attempted to justify their actions.  He did however say he would refund the cost of the second tank and the work required.

A week later we received a refund that little more covered the tax on the job.  These guys are crooks and don't care what the costumer thinks, nor what the Plumbing Code says but rather how they can justify the exorbitant cost and extra work they are going to require you to get the problem fixed.

Finally, my friend said that one reason he recommended them was that they even found something wrong at this house and replaced the part for free.  Funny, they did the same thing to me, replacing an anti freeze faucet head used to drain the house.  I knew a guy that owned a auto garage and used to tell just about everyone he replaced a tail light that was out for free to make them feel better when they left, particularly if the price was high.  Ben Franklin must be using the same unethical manual.  The mechanic was a crook too.

Our experience with Benjamin Franklin Plumbing has been exclusively negative. We purchased a tankless water heater from them a little over a year ago. Their representative sold it hard, and although we were somewhat skeptical we bought it anyway and had them install it. Our skepticism, as it turns out, was well warranted. The water heater began to turn itself off occasionally, including during showers, removing the supply of hot water completely (with predictable results). The warranty still applied, but the plumbers sent by Benjamin Franklin told us the unit was simply dusty, dusted it, and charged us for it. The same problem recurred, but each time we were told the unit was dusty, whether it was dusty or not. Now, after the warranty expired, the unit stopped working completely, leaving us without hot water.

For what we paid we should have been able to acquire a working hot water heater. I would strongly advise against using Benjamin Franklin Plumbing if you need a new hot water heater.

DO NOT EVER USE BFP!! They are WAY OVER PRICED!  They were suppose to be here in a 1-3 pm window.  They did call, but did not show up until after 7 pm.  The tech was very nice.  However, they have a price sheet with levels of service.  First of all you have to pay a $ 59 trip charge. Level one is like a nut or a washer replaced or caulking - that would be $ 104l  Level 2 repair a spigot, connector check a spray valve - that would be $ 169.  Level 3 rebuild plastic inside toilet - that would be $ 229 and it goes up from there.  They wanted over $ 600 for a toilet plus over $ 200 to install it.

Did I get anything for them being late - NO!  They are such a rip off. DO NOT USE THEM!!!!!!!!!!

$364 to replace a expansion tank which you can buy around $30 in residential house is ridiculous. The one hour job charged more than $300.
I called BFP and the manager told me that they are supposed to charge me more.  Stay away from BFP. I will never use their service again.
The person who came however, was professional and well skilled. This review is not about the guy who came.

Called Ben Franklin Plumbing to replace the on/off valves under the sink and the faucet.  Price quoted, SIX HUNDRED AND FIFTY DOLLARS PLUS TAX.  $375 to replace the valves and $275 to replace the faucet. What a RIP OFF they are. Found someone else for $175.

Because I tore the add out of the paper saying I would get a free home visit, they added $76 to the charge for doing my plumbing work. I was told the entire sheet was needed, despite the expiration date being next month.

Lesson learned, never call again.

I called Sunday spent 10 or 12 minutes on the phone scheduled the appointment was assured that they would be here between three and five today, Monday,
I received a text message asking if I needed to schedule appointment Monday morning. I called back to confirm the appointment was scheduled at three. I received a telephone call back 30 minutes later informing me that I was outside of the scheduling area. They informed me that I needed to call another Benjamin Franklin in Duncanville. All in all I've spent about a half an hour trying to get scheduled for a plumber. It seems that this is just an advertising group. It's all publicity driven.  Wastes your time. Disappointed.

If you are looking for punctual and friendly plumbers these are your guys. other than that DO NOT CALL THEM.  We have a problem with our pipes vibrating in the walls when we flush the toilet and our water vibrates as well. we called them to come out and inspect. we were advised it was a FREE INSPECTION. After 2 hours he could not figure out what was the problem. so he recommended another guy from BFP come out. he said someone would call me with a time.as he left he wanted to charged me $117. I thought it was a free inspection. he stated he had to do work so it was not longer free. I asked how were you going to determine the issue without working. so he said no problem and i didnt pay the fee.

next guy comes out on the friday and thought it found the problem within 30 minutes. he stated the water meter was bad and call the city for a replacement. called the city while he was there and not only did they send someone out but the manager of the city's water dept came out. to my house.  He stated the meter had nothing to do with the water banging in the house. the plumber from BFP looked stunned at that time. then the BFP stated I need to add a water pressure guage to my water pipeline because the pressure is PSi 81 and it should be between PSI 50-70. the fee for that was $788 with a 2 year warranty. the city manager states that is incorrect. the water pressure is fine at PSI 81. it states there is nowhere written that the pressure has to be between psi 50-70. the managers pressure is psi 95 at his house. so now the BFP is shocked again. he doesnt know what to do at this moment.  it does not cancel the warranty on any appliances or fixtures as the BFP would like you to think..So for 2 dayS the BFP's did not fix anything and did not know what they were doing. I also had to pay $125 to the second guy for misdiagnosing the problem. He also stated he had to do work so there was no free inspection.I pulled them off angies list. I will contact them as well. I DO NOT RECOMMEND USING BFP AT ALL.

When I thought I had a plumbing emergency, I called Hanna at Benjamin Franklin Plumbing first thing in the morning.  I was lucky and was the first dispatch of the day.  Thomas arrived within an hour.  He quickly identified my issue and was able to stop my irrigation leak.  He was prompt, professional and personable during his visit.  I will definitely use Benjamin Franklin Plumbing again when the need arise.

I called two plumber numbers and all I got was a telephone answering service. Called Franklin which was third on my list and got a very pleasant young lady that was knowledgable and gave me an appointment the same day. She advised me there would be a $59 trip fee and I agreed. The plumber showed up in the scheduled time. Upon looking at the water box and the leak he said it would be $5000.00, then he said I am kidding , it will be just $4000.00. He looked at the water box and observed the leaking water line. (The sorter had come loose from an earlier repair) and only needed  to be re-sordered . The area was a connector in the middle of a 1/2 inch water line. Not exactly rocket science. Just a quick and simple sorter job. He then took out a pad and begin to write and  figure. He said the entire box needed to be replaced, the one valve was useless and the back flow drain could be taken out as they were no longer being used. And by the way, the loose connector would be soldered again. The total cost would be $1450.00 plus the $59.00 trip fee. I told him I did not think so and I would just pay the trip charge. He went to the truck and came back with a much lower estimate $1250.00 plus the $59.00 for a total of $1309.00 rather than $1509.00 for the job. I pointed out that we were talking about supplies less than $100 and that the task should take  no more than 2 hours. That would make his hourly rate at about $750.00 an hour. He explained to me that there was a lot of over head involved, new trucks, an office, salaries of the office, etc. I declined all offers and paid the $59.00. This is a job that any first year plumber could accomplish in 15 minutes and would use only the sorter and propane necessary to heat the copper water line. The truck was shinny and the plumber wore a nice clean white shirt. I just wanted my water line reconnected and resorderd and there was no way this was going to happen, as I was the target of a sales job. I have no ideal what you may think of such sales tactics, however I deplore them.  I am well aware that companies must make a profit in order to stay in business, however these highly inflated prices are outrageous. By he way the salesman told me that he had just been refused an earlier job when he told the homeowner that it would be $198.00 to replace a faucet. I was told the homeowner paid the $59.00 trip charge and that was all. My star rating has to do with the service call only, as I have no ideal if this company can actually repair a loose water line.

This is an update two days after the above post.----I am so happy and pleased as the plumber I called came promptly and repaired the broken water line. The cost was a reasonable $300. Great start for a good week!

THIS IS AN UPDATE----Three days after the above occurred I received a  call from Jeff at Ben Franklin Plumbing. I explained the event which had occurred the previous Saturday. This representative is in management and he was very nice and apologetic. He assured me this is not the way the company operates and that he was sorry for this to happen to a first time new customer. I think he was sincere and that the incident is not one that is not reflective throughout the company. I think it took a real professional to give me a call and discuss the incident with me and I was most appreciative. While I am not changing my star rating rom this single incident I would more than likely give the company another chance with a different plumber.

I scheduled this company to install a new shower faucet and bathtub faucet to replace the leaking ones. I was quoted one price and then in the middle of it, the price was raised because apparently I had not been clear about replacing the two leaking faucets. I thought it was way overcharged, but since my bathroom is torn up, I said ok. THEN, I find out that even though that take the marble tile front from the side of the bathtub to get to the faucets, they can not put it back!!! Something about liability if it breaks! To make matters worse they have to remove the sheetrock from behind the shower to replace the faucets and they can't put that back because they don't do sheetrock! So I have to hire someone else to come in and fix their repair. NOT HAPPY and DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Called in after plumber was already 10 minutes late for our 10-12 appointment window, they told me he would be another 50 minutes as he was stuck at another job. After I asked about their guarantee, I was told that they would have to check with their boss to see if it applied to this call. So after this guy was going to be an hour late at 5$/min they realized they didn't want to honor their own Punctual Plumber Guarantee. They informed me it would not apply due to some loophole in how they scheduled the appointment. Based on this experience, I will never use or recommend them. What's the point of putting your motto on your vans if you wont stand by it?

Needed a new hot water heater replaced due to it leaking. Phone customer service was excellent, David, my plumber was excellent. I was also happy with a garbage disposal replacement a few months ago by another plumber with Benjamin Franklin. Prices are probably higher than other smaller plumbing companies, but so far so good as far as I am concerned.

We had our water pipe burst in our master bathroom. We called Benjamin Franklin Plumbing they were polite on the phone and scheduled me.
I received follow up calls and text messages letting me know the plumber was on the way to my home. The plumber was outstanding extremely knowledgeable. I ask how long he's been doing this he said 31 years.
I would strongly recommend this service for pipe work pipe repair. We have water now and everything was doubled check from the plumber before leaving.. A big thanks to this company for outstanding Job on my pipes....

I had a major job with a water leak in my yard.  Chris and I believe
Sean showed up to help me today.  This is the only Company that
showed up to help me out on a major job.  They found the water leak and are going to finish up tomorrow.  They were very professional and did a did a great job in finding my leak.  I had two Companies promise to show up on Saturday and Sunday that did not show up.  They were
ARS and 24 hour plumbing.  Neither one showed up on the day they were scheduled.  I will never call these Companies again.  Also, the Roto Rooter woman asked me if my leak was the City's or mine.  I told her how would I know I am not a plumber.  I did not know where the leak was.  She told me that Roto Rooter would not find the leak and not help me.  So in summary, call Benjamin Franklin when you need
a Company to help you out on your plumbing or in finding and fixing a leak in your yard

My wife called to get a quote and was told they charge $60 to come and provide one.  They come out - technician was nice to her, but the quote shows that Benjamin Franklin is more interested in scamming for their paid estimate than actually doing work unless you're a sucker.

We have a leak in a valve past the city water shutoff on the main.  Parts for the job amount to $25 at Home Depot.  Benjamin Franklin quoted us $1700.  I was floored and asked how long it would take them.  The technician said 2 hours.  2 hours... so they bill at over $800 an hour.  If a contractor bills you more then $200 an hour you're getting scammed!

We called out four other services afterwards and they were all less than $700.  We chose the mid range company for $650 that could do the work the next day.  So does Benjamin Franklin just want to sit at the top of Google results to do 15 minute quotes all day or do they actually want to fix your problem?

I would have given 5 stars but the problem I am having is with the cost to get this company to my door and to do the work.  This company is very pricey and in todays economy I am always looking for a good deal.  I needed 2 drains unclogged just having those done without needing to replace the pipes, one was a quick rooter and the other required that the u joint under the sink be removed and cleaned out, less than 1 hour and no parts needed I paid 291.00 and was told because I did not purchase a drain cleaner to maintain plumbing that the work was not guaranteed.  That would have cost me another 49.00+ tax and I just did not have any more funds.  Originally I was going to have them install a kitchen faucet nothing to fancy would have taken maybe 30 minutes start to finish and if I provided faucet it was still going to cost 200.00+ to have that work done.  Final quote for all work done was almost 600.00 we are a single income family and the is as much as my mortgage so I will be shopping around next time even if I have to leave a voice mail.

This is not a complaint about their work- that was fine (they unclogged a backed up sewer line) or about their promptness; they were here when they said they would be.  The problem is they gave us an estimate of $2800 to do a spot repair of another section of the sewer line and insisted this was on our side and so the city wouldn't be responsible.  The plumber tried pretty hard to get us to agree to that repair, plus an additional repair, for a total of $4350.  We decided to get a second opinion before agreeing to spending  that kind of money.  Then we called the City of Dallas, and had them come out to evaluate the problem, just to make sure this wasn't something they would fix.  And guess what?  The City DID fix it, that day, (a Sunday!) for free, of course.
I'm really disappointed that Benjamin Franklin employed scare tactics and did not suggest we at least try calling the city; yes, they would have lost out on this job, but they would have bought my complete confidence in them, and they would have won me as a customer for life.  Instead, I will never call them again, and I am giving them this bad review.  Shame, isn't it?

If you have an emergency plumbing problem on Saturday afternoon, do yourself a favor and do NOT reach out to Benjamin Franklin Plumbing. I called to check on the status of a plumber three separate times and on the third time, the person answering the phone had no record of me in the queue.

Exasperated, I called another 24 hour plumbing service (ARS plumbing) and within an hour I had a plumber at the house and the emergency hour plumbing fee was much cheaper.

Unless you want to experience white-hot rage when they answer the phone with their slogan of arriving on time or you don't have to pay or something like that after you've waited four hours to no avail, then go somewhere (ANYWHERE) else. I will never reach out to this company again.

Really I would not even give them 1 star but they didn't have a zero. They are really crooks. They tried ti convince me that I had a big job that would take hours, they tried to charge me $2,400 for a job that was completed for $700. Also, they had said that my sink was so bad that they couldn't guarantee any of the work they were doing on it for that price.

I called Ben Franklin for a simple tankless HWH flush. They installed the unit more than 10 years ago so it was no longer under warranty.
When the technician asked how long it had been since I had it flushed last, I told him that it had been 2 to 3 years but that I lived out of the country all last year so it wasn't in use. He still required that I sign a statement saying that since it had been 2 years he would not be responsible for any damages--and he asked for a signature after the work was completed, not before.
I have no idea what the technician flushed it with (I didn't see any CLR bottle but I might have missed it) and if he did it with just water then that might be why my hot water is fading in and out like it was before I called.
I don't ever plan to use them for servicing again.

BFP was my goto plumbing company however my last experience has motivated me to find another company.
Basically I was charged $99 service fee after they couldn't recreate the issue I described.  The issues being the commode flooded after a flush and the adjacent bath tub had brown stuff coming up the bathroom drain after the flush.  Because I failed to mention the adjacent bathtub in their online form they want to charge me an additional fee to send out another technician to check the tub drain.  I asked the rep if I could speak to the technician that came to my home however, this request was denied by the service rep I talked to (William).

Also I'm not crazy about their pricing.  When I employed BFP to install a new garbage disposal the pricing going from a 1/2 HP to 3/4 and 1 HP was an outrageous upcharge.  I had price disposals at Lowes/HomeDepot and BFP pricing does NOT reflect the real world for the higher HP disposals...  The labor to install a 1/2 HP versus a 1 HP should be nearly the same but not at BFP.  Next time I will buy my own full One HP disposal and hire a handy man to install.

Murphy's Law was alive and well.  When I was on a business trip the hot water tank, located in the attic, burst.  My wife awoke to a literal flood coming out of the attic at 12:30 AM.  I called BFP, was told it would be about an hour.  2.5 hours later someone finally showed up.

He turned the water off outside and then promptly began grilling my wife about our insurance along with pushing a company he knew who could come out and clean up the damage.  She called me, I explained to him it was 3 AM and we needed to get everything sorted out.  He continued to pressure me about this great company he knew and I was looking at about 6k worth of damage so I better turn it over to my insurance.  I said no, and we hung up.

My wife texted me saying he was wanting to sell us and install a water tank for $1800 that night.  Knowing this was at least twice the price I could get it at Lowe's for and considering it was 3 AM I called and asked him to leave.  His scare tactics and high pressured sales left my wife rattled about what we were up against.

When i called to talk to the franchisee about the scare tactics and heavy handed selling process the operations manager told me the franchisee does not talk to customers and proceeded to inform me that I was not there so I do not know what occurred.  He stated I should be thankful the plumber was willing to get up in the middle of the night and leave his family to turn my water off.

I am not sure if the plumber has a financial interest in the other company he wanted us to use to clean up the mess.  And I don't know why the franchisee doesn't talk to customers even though he/she is happy to cash out checks.

I was called back by a gentleman who listened better than the ops manager, apologized and let me know that the franchisee would call me back, but she owned numerous businesses and is very busy so it could be a while.  I have to wonder if the clean up company her employee was pushing so hard is her business as well.

**We did receive a full refund for the visit.  We have not yet heard from the franchisee, she must be really busy.  ***Still waiting.

Pros:

Very professional, on-time, fast, CLEAN and courteous. They got the job done quickly.

Cons:

VERY EXPENSIVE.

I had an excellent experience with the scheduling personnel. I called when I noticed a toilet was not refilling after flushing. They said someone would be at my house the next day between 9 - 11. I received a phone call that morning to confirm, and the service person called again to let me know he was on his way. They arrived promptly, wore booties (as to not track in mud) and quickly diagnosed the problem--an incorrectly installed toilet. He showed me where the cutoff valve had been placed too close to the toilet, and had bent when the toilet was installed. He had to replace that, and a valve. The cost was $440 (!) which was more than the toilet. Seeing as how he was already there, I went ahead and ordered the job. He had the parts on hand. After he was finished, he said that only the valve handle was bent, but the underlying valve was fine, so he knocked off $100. (He only had to replace a handle on that part.) The toilet works well now.

All in all, I'm happy with their service, and their staff couldn't be more professional, but they charge very high prices.

I feel with all the commercials these women (owners) are putting on the radio during this time, I needed to speak up even though this happened in 2016 because I have heard my story is common with them.  I could hear a leak in my walls. I had the rep from BF come out, and the first one said it was from a puncture hanging a picture...what?  He quoted over $1000.   He sent someone the next day and that rep said (as I figured) that was wrong.   I was heading out to my father's funeral in Ohio the next day which I told him.  He said it was a leak under the slab and would cost me $13,000.   I was devastated, but it needed done as he said or it would flood my house while I was gone.   I was told by numerous neighbors it should not have cost more than $3000 at the highest, that they could have gone in a different way.   So when I heard another leak a few months later I called Accurate Leak.   They felt so bad for me (and agreed it should have been done for a lot less), they repiped my whole house for $3000 less that one stupid pipe cost!!!   As I speak to others, I find out Benjamin Franklin has ripped off numerous customers.   I want people to know!!!!  If I could give no stars I would!!!!  I wrote one review a couple years ago and never heard from the owners, not even a reply.   But no matter, I've read Lauren's replies and they are pretty lame.

What a Blessing Jeremy was to replace our mom's hot water heater this week. He was knowledgeable, professional, thoughtful, and kind. He did a great job and even returned the next day as the shower did not seem to be getting all the hot water needed as a part in the wall was not letting the handle turn far enough. We will let everyone know this is a great company and Jeremy B. Is a great asset for the company.

Very Expensive!!!  I had 2 outdoor faucets that leaked.  We tried tighten them but that didn't work.
The tech showed up early (good).  He looked at the faucets and told me there could be a big problem and he might have to install 2  new faucets.  Since there is brick involved they might have to tear into the wall,  Of course if it comes to that they don't do brick repair but they could refer someone who could repair the brick.  Or it could be a bad vacuum breaker.  He said we can try that first.  Then he shows me the price.  If he has to change out the faucet it might be $500. times two.  I was shocked.  That's the worse case.  What is it if I only need the Vacuum breaker?  For both we will be $198.  I watched him, he unscrewed the old vacuum breaker and put on a new one easy.  I am so lucky I got new vacuum breaker and didn't need the whole wall rip out.
I paid the man $198 plus $59. service fee =$257.
After he left I looked up the vacuum breaker at Home Depot only $25 ea.X2=$50. the service fee of $59.= $109. total.  I paid the man $148. to screw in  2 vacuum breakers.
Yes I got screwed.  I hope this helps someone else.

This company is extremely expensive to the point of price gouging. It is beyond me how the stay in business. My wife was suffering from the pain of recent foot surgery and could not walk. We had a clogged drain. I was out of town. The clog was removed by the plumber in less than half an hour. Our bill was $351.00! My wife complained about the cost, and was told to look at my rate sheet. At that point, she just wanted him out of the house. I called to complain and was told that the owner would call me back. I stopped payment on the check. It's been a week, and I still haven't heard from the company. For the love of God, please don't use Benjamin Franklin Plumbing.

There was a shut-off valve leaking on a toilet.  Jeff came to the house within the time window allotted.  I had another appointment and my wife was there to let him in.   When I returned, he had done a great job of removing the old valve and replacing it with a new one as well as a new connector tube from the valve to the tank (total parts cost about $25).  He cleaned up the area nicely after finishing.  The reason I can not give 5-stars is that I feel the charge was too much.  The old connector valve was soldered on, so it had to be cut off.  The new valve was put on with a compression nut; however, when I looked at the invoice, I was charged for installing a soldered valve, $223, instead of the compression nut fitting which would have been $117.  The job took approximately 1 hour to perform, he wrote on the invoice the arrival time of 0905 and my wife said he had left by 1015.
I do want to emphasize that the work that Jeff did was exemplary, but I do have the sense that I was overcharged.  Perhaps this could have been explained to me and straightened out if I had been able to be at home.  No explanation was offered to my wife.
