Always a good experience dealing with the professional and friendly folks at A#1 Air.
We have a yearly membership with them and they are great at keeping up with their upcoming appointments, checkups or rescheduling when needed.
For your AC/ electrical and plumbing services for your home I highly recommend A#1 Air.

Do not use this company. Our upstairs unit stopped cooling. We had a guy come out and he didn't have the right tool for our valve caps to check Freon and after sending a picture to several other companies who also didn't have the tool, I was recommended to call this company because they are a big outfit and we're likely to have the tool.

Sam and I believe Michael came to my home and also didn't have the tool. They said they could change the fittings to something more universal which was great. They then came into my home and Michael walked right into my laundry room and did not leave after I asked him to get out and use a different sink because I didn't know what my wife had laying around drying in there.

Sam went up and looked at our units and basically told us everything was wrong and immediately started talking about a replacement unit. We had to press to get a repair option and he gave us a total of 10k to repair without any explanation of parts or a breakdown of costs all while saying replacement is the better option and kept saying our units are builders grade so they are basically garbage. Basically everything was wrong. I'm okay with an option to replace since the units are 9 years old,but they worked great until a couple days ago, but we all know the type of person that's trying to sell you rather than take care of you and that was Sam's approach.

At the end of the interaction I asked him to put it all back how it was and he was reluctant to power the unit outside but kept changing his story as to why. We put 2 lbs of refrigerant in there's no refrigerant in the unit well it will be gone within a couple hours. I just wanted it how it was before. Maybe a leak in the coil but it was blowing coolish air even if the temp wasn't dropping. Also while a replacement unit could be installed the next day, they would wait a week after getting parts to repair. So transparent.

Outside of the sleazy sales process to the service call, there were several aspects that made me uncomfortable to include bringing up the recent shooting as a form of small talk which was poor tact. What if I had known someone that was hurt? Either way, that's not a topic I want to discuss with a stranger. I mentioned getting a second opinion and while he was like oh yeah, that's definitely smart. He was visibly uncomfortable, and I learned why the next day. I declined getting a replacement quote because I was not comfortable with their team.

I called another company the next day that had come out before and didn't have the right tool and he came out to look. We walked up to the unit and discovered a#1 had broken off the service port from the king valve! This wasn't disclosed to me after they had been out and no other person had touched the unit in between. After calling to talk to the service manager, I was argued with, dismissed, and they refused to accept responsibility regardless of my photos because they had on the paperwork that sam filled out that there was a leak outside. Sam did not fill out paperwork of findings until after he would have broken the valve so it's now obvious to me why he pushed so hard to replace the unit. He at no point showed me anything with the units or outside to see for myself and tried to take advantage me and my family. Sometimes people make mistakes, but you have to do the right thing.

Take your business elsewhere. This company is not trustworthy.

Absolutely horrendous A/C provider in DFW; please look elsewhere and run far, far from them. We were coerced into buying an entire new unit from them for $10,000 only for it to break down AGAIN in only 5 years. Makes no sense outside of them seeking financial profit off the pain and suffering of small families. Now they are demanding $4,500 in repairs on a new unit. Insanity. They don't answer the phone when we call as they know they're in the wrong and try to run like cowards. Please heed the warnings of people in these reviews; they're the majority, not the minority.

I used this company because they had a $39 special (used to reel you in). They came the following day and specifically told the guy that i want to get the 2 ac units tuned up and drain line cleaned and he said it would be 120 plus 39 ea unit. I said fine and i went to run errands. I get back for him to talk to me what he found and what he did and listed was 2 tune ups, refrigerant, drain line cleaner and drain line flush equaling 405. I did not give any consent on the refrigerant or me wanting a whole bottle of cleaner that i do not know what to even do with. His recommendation was obviously pretty much a whole new unit so another guy came (sales) and begin to tell me how much and i told him of the charges already charged to me and he said he would do this for me. we can take the 200 off the 9000k that will cost for the new unit Thanks? I told them ill talk to my wife. Next day he texts me and i told him again about the hidden charges and he said he would customer relations call me. Roxie called and read what was going on and then explained to me work was completed along with the ole sir let me finish you signed and she also said that their guys always tell the customeAlr the work they are going to do before they do it. I said how is that possible when i was out running errands...she then said oh well your wife was home. My wife was taking care of 3 children under 3 so was busy and she had no idea what i was talking about only said that he introduced himself. Also he said there was a leak, i'm no expert but you do not add more refridgerant when there is a leak and your recommendation is to replace the whole thing since it will need to add refridgerant to the new unit ( just another hidden charge)..call ended with Roxie repeating we will not be giving you anything back

Beware

I rated this company with only two stars because of he surprise labor fee.  Here's the story.

On 4/19/2023, two A1 Air technicians conducted an inspection and tune up for my condo AC system. $59 was the advertised price. During the inspection, the lead technician discovered a weak capacitor that tested 33 out of 40. The assistant warned that it could fail and result in another service fee. He stated the capacitor, which retails for about $25 (Amazon pricing), was still under warranty, and that the replacement part was free to me. However, A
#1 Air would charge a $175 labor fee to install the new capacitor. To be fair, he did agree to waive the $75 ladder fee for an extra-long ladder which he did not bring. Bottom line, I ended up paying $250 for the inspection, tune up, and replacement.

In conclusion, I would like to know if this is a common practice for A#1 Air -- and if it is standard operating procedure for the industry -- to charge a $175 labor fee to replace a free capacitor. Have other customers experienced the same issue? It is my hope that A1 Air will address this concern, and that their business practices will reflect the values of transparency, honesty, and fairness.

Very Expensive!  They service our AC though a maintenance contract which we will not be extending now.  Here is why... they are so over priced! My husband gave our friends their name when they needed a new water heater.  They were charged $2,711 to replace a hot water heater that is slightly over $700 at the local store. It has a 10 year manufacturer warranty, not a 12 year at that price. Our friends told us they are positive that they were ripped off.

So that's just under $2,000 labor to swap out a hot water heater! I feel horrible that we gave our friends A#1's name.

Knowing this we will NEVER get an AC or Water Heater replaced through them or anything else!

My friends called and spoke with you Roxie and you didn't budge on refunding any of the nearly $2,000 labor charge for replacing a Hot Water Heater.  You give the impression that just call and we'll help.... No you don't you just want everyone on here to think you will help. It's outrageous what you charged our dear friends and I'm ashamed that I gave them your company name!

A#1Air has always been the
Best Air Condition company I ever dealt with. They installed my Air Conditioner about 9 years ago and I have their service twice a year for a checkup. Today was an exceptional day as the technician Jamal McDuffie came to my house right on time. He was very professional and greeted me with respect. He made  suggestion about changing the bulb to my Green Air system and after consideration divided to do it. He showed me the old bulb as proof when compared to the new bulb. He proceeded to go outside to my air conditioner and spent time cleaning out the system with a hose and making adjustments that were needed.
He was so kind  and knowledgeable.
I will definitely ask for him again.
I don't know how to use google but I hope this review will be enough to give him a reward he definitely deserves.
Thank you,
F.Z

They didn't bother showing up and they didn't bother texting me like I asked them to.
I had to tell them no 5 times to some add on service I didn't want. The sales guy even said you sound like you're on the fence with this, seriously? I said no like 5 times. Then they called and asked again anyway.
I will not be using them again and I will tell my friends and neighbors why.

I'm not happy with their service plan. Each technician proposed different things each time they came out and it was expensive and some things seemed questionable. They sold me an expensive drain flush which I was told later by a person with experience that all I needed was vinegar and water mix (very cheap). I do know some of the things they proposed were very pricey and I could do myself easily for next to nothing. When I first signed up, they were good about scheduling my next appointment. Then it dropped off. I paid a lot at the end that was a waste. I canceled after I realized if I needed real work done... I would certainly bid it out to multiple companies and I didn't feel they'd be in the running even after their service plan discount. But who knows, but I'm obviously not satisfied with the service plan regardless. $24 a month isn't cheap, so I expected more.

Their technicians were very polite and friendly.

Update: Changed from two stars to one star. Four years after my complaint and their expressed desire to make these issues right, the similar complaint is still made by others here in 2023.

A couple of months ago, I called this company to service our tankless water heater. The first plumber (can't remember his name) came and did the work. After he left, I noticed that our hot water was taking too long to come on (sometimes up to 10mins, yes I timed it). Also, while taking a shower, I noticed the water switching from hot to cold during the process (very annoying). I called the plumber and the company to have him come back and check if something was wrong. He was actually very defensive when I spoke with on the phone. All I wanted was for him to come back and check the work as we have never had this problem before. Our house was built in 2017 and we have been living in this house with no hot water issues until that day.

When he showed up to have it checked, he seemed to be in such a hurry and wouldn't even listen to whatever I was trying to explain to him. I turned on the faucet and showed him how long it was taking for the hot water to come on but he just continued brushing me off. Now he wanted to blame it on our shower knob, like seriously. It wasn't the shower knob because all the faucets in the house were taking too long for the hot water to come on especially the ones upstairs. So, he opened up the faucet, checked and nothing was wrong. He never bothered to fix anything and was just argumentative. Oh, and this man had the audacity to walk into my house with no shoe covers and left a mess everywhere.

I called the company again and requested for a different plumber to come out. This time it was plumber Clint R. who came. I walked him through, turned on the water and showed him how long it was taking to get hot water. He acknowledged that it was taking too long. He checked the faucet valves and everything was fine. He then came up with ridiculous explanation how we needed to install a recirculating pump to help reduce the time that it was taking to get hot water.
What ridiculousness; we just spent $400 to have this heater serviced which your company screwed up and now we have to pay almost $1300 to install some system to get hot water? Like I kept telling them, WE HAVE LIVED IN THIS HOUSE FOR 5 YEARS WITH NO ISSUES WHATSOEVER WITH OUT WATER HEATER. Few days go by and I noticed that the shower knob that Mr. first plumber had worked on wasn't turning all the way to the hot side.

Again, I called the company and this time around, they sent Riley and his apprentice. They were very sweet, polite and provided detailed explanations. We noticed that Mr. first plumber had left out one of the pieces that goes inside the shower knob which is why it wasn't turning all the way! So, am I crazy to say that Mr. first plumber screwed us twice? By the way, Riley and his apprentice showed respect for our property (they wore shoe covers and cleaned up after themselves).

I am not a plumber and I do not how to service a tankless water heater nor anything concerning hot or cold water system. What I do know is that, the first plumber did something to our system because this is unusual. Everyday since that incident, we have been hoping that one day things will get back to normal but it just seems to be getting worse especially in these cold temperatures.
I have been holding off on writing this review but I just had to do it today; I went upstairs this morning to get my kids ready, turned on the hot water and waited almost 20 minutes and no hot water! This company needs to do better for their customers. Hire people with good work ethics.

I requested a quotation on a plumbing project.  The quotation was unbelievably high.  In any case, I called and questioned the quote.  They had the Technician call me back to explain.  We lost connection during the call.  He then texted me that the company would match competitor pricing and even provided the names of a few of the competitors they would match.  With that I was contacted by someone from customer service.  I explained the same issue, and she stated she would review the quote with management.  She then responded that the plumbing manager had reviewed and the pricing stood.  I responded and reminded her that hey had offered to price match.  She replied that they do not price match.  I sent her a screen shot of the text from the Technician stating that they would.  She e-mailed a reply that she would get this to management.  The next morning, I received a call from the plumbing manager, stating that he was calling because he received a note that I had a question on the quote.

Unbelievable customer service.  One employee states we do not price match.  One employee texts that they will price match, I have e-mail and text documentation of both, and no-one chooses to address.  If this is customer service, I'll take my business elsewhere.

My experience from the first phone call where I had a million questions to the end of a very long day of electric upgrades was absolutely top notch. Brandon was incredible, answered every question without making me feel like a burden, explained the whole job and was the consummate professional from the first visit to the moment the final label was placed in my new panel. He and his crew were professional, took good care of my home, provided exceptional communication, reduced my stress and got the whole job done right the first time. Thank you so much. It was a big stressful
job and I'd have Brandon and A#1 back in a second. He gets my full endorsement with no reservations!

Ten years ago, our AC unit was down.  We called A1 because of their ads and the fact that we could get no one else to come out at that hour and day of the week.  They basically gave us an estimate that they knew we could not afford.  They tried the upsell to a whole system.  I could have bought a nice new car for the same price.  They had us in a bind and knew it.  They offered financing (through Wells Fargo) with minutes for approval.  Had no choice and had to do it.

The new system was great.  We just had to buckle down and pay the devil his dues.  We also had them service it twice each year (they said we HAD to for the warranty to be maintained). With the way they redesigned my AC drain system, every 3 or three months we have to call them out to clean the lines and that costs us between $300 and $400 each time.  When questioned about it, they wanted to charge us over $4,000.00 to clean the duct work, remove the fan and clean it.

The constant up-selling at exorbitant  fees was costing enough to buy a new system.  I have to admit, they have their technical excuses down pat.  They all repeat them exactly like their handbook is written.

Most of their technicians are just great people trying to work and make a living for their families.  I have been a tech before, so I sympathize with them.

However, now that our warranty is up, I have decided to locate a new HVAC repair service that is honest, reliable and AFFORDABLE.

Any of you Ex-A1Air customers like to give me some phone numbers and names?

Thanks so much!

20 minutes $271.00.
$59.99 to show up and tell you about their service. Tier one service if its easy and I can fix without to much trouble its $271.00  dollar charge.
If he has to go up in the attic then it is now Tier Two service which is $493.00. I told tech i was pretty sure it was neutral wire. He opened outlet and wiggled wire and problem solved. Now here is the catch a master electrician in Tool Texas 78 miles away gets $135.00 an bour flat rate no service charge no extra for it being hard.
These large companies dont have master electricians coming to your house they are certified or journymen working under a master liscence.  So you choose tier one or loose your service call fee which i did.
On their 100 percent satisfaction READ FINE PRINT. I WOULD NOT HIRE THIS COMANY OR ANY COMPANY THAT CANT CHARGE BY THE HOUR. ITS JUST THEIR WAY OF GETTING IN YOUR POCKET AND FEEL NO REMORSE FOR THEIR ACTIONS.

HECK I DONT THING THE PRESIDENT GETS $271.00 DOLLARS FOR TEENTY MINUTES OF TIGHTENG A SCREW.

JUST A SENIOR WITH MORAL VALUES.
DONT MIND PAYING FOR A JOB AT FAIR PRICING YOU JUST WONT GET IT FROM THIS COMPANY.

We got a replacement on our HVAC system.  The techs to finish fast decided it would be smart to throw all debris out of the attic.  Directly under my baby and I. As seen on our video our baby got hit in the face.  Which later followed these people making countless excuses/ lies about the whole incident which the cameras never once lied.

First time I used them after I saw one of their truck in the neighborhood.
A1 is by far some of the best customer service I've experienced- ever.
I have to specifically call out the tech who serviced my two AC units - polite, knowledgeable, effective and thorough. I would recommend this company to anyone based on my recent experience.

Terrible customer service, they will give false promises and lie to get you to sign a contract (offered 2 years interest free, but after install said it was only 18 months even though I had it in writing, they didn't do 24 months interest free.)
New first day install tech fell through my ceiling. Lead installer at first lied claiming they were installing the new return there (against the wall), but I called BS as I heard him fall through and saw his legs sticking through while the lead tech was obviously very upset with the installer.
Lead installer became vindictive after I called BS and proceeded to install the wiring as well as the new return duct work in a manner that blocked access to the attic as much as possible (rather than route the wires along beams, they cut the wires shorter and ran them directly across blocking access). Even though other HVAC companies advised the install was unprofessional, A#1 advised this is how they install it (NOT UP TO PAR WITH OTHER HVAC COMPANIES INSTALL).
They did fix the ceiling where the tech fell through, but it is not even close to how it was before with a hole on the attic side and the ceiling patched up.
I recommend spending a bit more (or in other cases spending less) and going with a more reputable company. A company that does everything is good at nothing.

Purchase a A/C and Heating system from them in 2019. The A/C quit working in May 2023. So I called at 7:30 am to schedule them to come out and explained it would still be under warranty and I purchased it from them. They said they had a heavy call volume and couldn't guarantee a time. I told them I was going out of town and needed someone to come out. They said when we hear from dispatch you will get a call an hour before arrival. By 12:30 pm I called back and they said dispatch hasn't heard anything yet. I said schedule for tomorrow I will be back at 11 am. Its 2 pm and no one has shown up. They called and said we still haven't heard from dispatch. I explained again that we bought the entire system from them and they should give us some kind of priority since its under their warranty. Basically said too bad. We are moving in a couple months and I told them if that system goes out, I will not be buying it from them. I want someone who appreciates their customers.

Our air Conditioning went out last night around 630. We called A#1 Air, the call was answered quickly and even though it was after hours we had a service tech out at our house at midnight
Milton quickly assessed the outdoor unit and told us the capacitor needed to be replaced.
He finished his job quickly and air conditioning started cooling the house immediately.
Great job A#1 Air - THANK YOU SO MUCH

Just a warning but if you are considering A#1 Air for replacing your AC/heating unit, you might want to rethink it. They installed one for us a few years ago and took some shortcuts without our permission and now they want to charge us $1500 to fix the errors that they caused.
At the time they installed the unit we bought a 10 year labor and 10 year parts carefree guarantee. The repairs that they are suggesting are outside of that carefree guarantee.
The paperwork they left for us states:
My promise to you!
Any time you believe that we have not lived up to our promise of great service, quality or value, call us! James & Sherry Green, Owners A#1 Air 972-242-2665
Calling customer service at their company is a waste of time.  Unfortunately, the people on the other end of the phone do not understand the business or the technical aspects of a heating and air conditioning unit.

This company has a fancy Website which makes one think you're gonna received quality service.  And love the owner pictures on all there vehicles, maybe they should roll up the sleeves and get out in the field to ensure quality service and not horrific service as we experienced!
1.  Our Technician was new, so it was difficult to believe that we were getting the best service.  Got it, people gotta get their feet wet. But my recommendation to the company, send a seasoned Tech too OR on maybe just send a seasoned Tech on the 1st encounter.
Strike 1.
2. Then we receive an estimate from the new Tech with multiple pages of recommendations for their other services we clearly didn't need.  Well, we know this is ALWAYS an immediate RED flag and true indicator as to what type of company you're dealing with.  Slimy.
Strike 2.
3.  Then we call to schedule our Winter inspection on a prepaid annual membership.  I was informed that I canceled the membership after the 1st inspection (thus to prevent them from billing for another annual fee) and therefore wouldn't receive our 2nd inspection.  After challenging the Rep, it was determined that we were still entitled to the winter inspection as no partial refund was issued on the prepaid 2nd inspection.  Uh, duh Ralph.
Strike 3!
In the world of baseball, you know what that means.
You're outta here, A#1 DUD!

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!  They are just salespeople.  They are in the business of trying to sell you something you don't need.  My thermostat was not working properly. My inside unit was running constantly.  They tried to sell me a $3500 insulation package. I did NOT  fall for that scam.  They never checked the condenser fan motor.  I called another company. They noticed immediately that the outside unit was not running. They replaced the condenser fan motor at a 1/3 of the cost of insulation that I did NOT need.

We have used A1 before for electrical and plumbing work which has been great. Recently we started having a problem with one of AC systems and figured we would try their HVAC services as well. They sent out a technician, Milton who did a great job. There was quite a few problems that he identified and he showed video of what he found and made recommendations with different pro's and cons. He stayed for hours and also refilled the AC unit so we would have some cool air for the day.

We wanted to talk to their sales department to get an idea of the options and what made sense financially. They sent one of their sales reps, Jay out the same day and were flexible and could meet with us after 6.30 PM which was very convenient. We were upfront with that we were looking for a financially viable solution and would not be interested in the luxury models IF we would end up replacing any part of the system. Jay did great with just presenting options that were in our range. It's always frustrating when someone in sales tries to oversell you and it was a relief that this was not the experience with A1 at all. It was also very easy to get financing through them, it only took minutes to know the options and interest rates.

We ended up replacing the furnace and AC system and they were able to come out as soon as the next morning! Unfortunately I don't remember the name of the installers but they were friendly and efficient, they explained everything well and showed things I asked about and made sure they had answered all of our questions.

It's also a relief that they want to make sure it gets services and the first year of service was included in the price which is appreciated.

We had to replace one of the other AC systems in the house a few years ago with a different company and we never heard from them again after they had installed it, it was so nice to have a great experience with A1!

Our air conditioner died on Saturday afternoon.  Called A1 in Lewisville.  They responded back almost immediately.  Technician (Nick N.) was great.  He assessed the problem, a worn out system - so it was over 20 years old, we had been lucky.  It was dead, dead, dead and deserved a decent burial.  Inside he looked at the furnace.  Okay, we never looked inside it before.  Completely rusted out.  Technicians can't exaggerate rust.  The thing in the attic was in just as desperate condition.  Maybe we could have shopped around and found someone cheaper.  Would they have come out on a Saturday night without charging more?  From past experiences, probably not.  Besides we would be wasting time.  So we took the plunge and debt.  If our builder hadn't put in too small of a unit to begin with, if the company we used over 20 years ago had put in the right sized unit, we wouldn't have worked this poor baby to death.  Monday the new units were installed.  The team was great.  On time, communicative, respectful of property and efficient.  The experience of turning on the new air conditioner and feeling air coming out of the vents, really feeling it, was euphoric.  Our electric bill will go down because this is a more efficient system.  We are happy.  If it had been free we would be happier.  It wasn't so that's life.

I have been using A#1 for almost as long as we have lived in this house. It started by their taking over the service of the AC installed when the house was built (the company that originally installed it said we were too far away to keep servicing it). Since then both AC units have been replaced, ductwork cleaned, UV lights installed in the ducts, plumbing issues repaired, electrical issues repaired.  Everything is done quickly and efficiently.  As far as I know they were the first to have the 7/24 service which is especially nice when the AC goes out in the middle of the night. I highly recommend A#1 Air!

Fastest service available at an exorbitant cost

It was a triple digit saturday and the AC went out. A#1 was the only company available to come out same day on a saturday. They fixed the issue quickly and had my AC restored by that evening time. For this I was very grateful.

However, they broke down the cost as $99 for the service fee and $450 for the run capacitor that was replaced. These cost ~$20 for an OEM replacement and $75 for the fancier one they replaced it with.

It appears this is how they can pay for such immediate response. They are the only ones available to save you from the heat and they are going to stick you with a premium bill afterwards. When it is triple digits and the next available appointment is 5 days away then it is probably worth it. However, in a less extreme situation, save your money and go with someone else.

Buyer beware...they want to charge a $250 eval fee if you're selling your home...EVEN if they repair the unit and you pay for those repairs.

i had them do some electrical work on 10-31-22 in little elm tx. I had cut the holes, ran the wires, added the switch top add a light to my closet. it would not work.  I called the in for troubleshooting.  I was frustrated at the job because it was extremely difficulty as the way my house is laid out.  $600 for the electrician to  unwire the outlet and rewire.   I agreed to it but will never use again.

Hired A#1 to do a heating system TUNE-UP. Technician came and did a visual inspection.  No re-calibration, adjustment, tweaking, cleaning of any kind. Basically a visit to try to sell you other services.  He did connect meter to the capacitor and said it was going to go bad soon.  He said he could replace it for $200. Technician said regular price is $400, so it was a great deal. I called around locally and as it turns out, that capacitor is only $26.  Beware of this company.  I would not recommend it to anyone.

I got home this afternoon and thought Gee, the house is stuffy and I went to go turn on the AC. Then I remembered that A #1 still hasn't fixed it and it's been almost two weeks. And we had already waited for them to come out a few days prior to that.
I really thought my AC should have been fixed by now, I've been paying monthly on a service plan that I thought we get us better (Priority) service.
I'm so mad now I can't see straight.
And yes, we have talked with Customer Service about this.

I recommend thinking very hard before becoming a customer of A#1. Communication is very poor and a frustrating experience.

Starting at 815am, It took 30 minutes of continuous attempts dialing both of the A#1 business numbers just to get someone to answer the call. Selecting prompt 1 resulted in no answer at all after multiple minutes of ringing; selecting prompt 2 did get an answer after multiple minutes of ringing.

The person taking my call was courteous and understanding of my frustration just trying to get through. Several hours later when I'd not received a call from a technician, I called back to check on my appointment - again, multiple attempts dialing before my call was answered. The person taking my call said the technician had already tried to call and left a message - which DID NOT happen. I assume the technician dialed an incorrect number but that was never confirmed. Unfortunately, that cost me several hours of lost time fixing the AC.

Ultimately, a technician did arrive. He was courteous and professional. He quickly ascertained the problem (it seems A#1 has expectation of this part failing) and fixed it within 30 minutes.

When it came to the billing, he asked for a credit card which I gave when I made the appointment.  I was hesitant to provide it again as I wanted to avoid double billing - considering how hard it is to get through to this company it would take forever to correct a billing problem.

Interesting note: the technician left a quote for re-insulating the attic (it's very old). So far, I'm finding the A#1 quote to be $4000 higher than the average cost of the job for my house.

Think twice before getting involved with A#1.

I would not reccommend A # 1 air to any one to fix anything. They are the worst. I called them because of a leak in my ceiling from my AC Unit. Jason came out and had me thinking I was about to experience an HVAC apocalypse. He gave me 5 different suggestions replace the unit, replace the coils etc. Then he says well your unit is low on Freon and I can add more to your unit and that will stop the coils from freezing and thawing. I told hiim that what he was saying didn't make any sense to me but he is the expert. No sooner than he left, my ceiling started leaking again. I called back three times for a new technician but after thinking about it I figured the next guy is going to go in for the kill after Jason set it up with the obligatory Replace the unit replace the coils etc. My unit is only 5 years old. Well anyways, I have accepted this L(oss). Again try them at your own risk.

Update: June 18, 2022*** A#1 Air was willing to work with me. I worked with Kendra who went above and beyond to help me with my complaint she followed through all the way to the end. I am very thankful fot her dedication.

It's never a good time to have A/C issues in TX. But we had one. Gage from A#1 Air took care of us. We had issues with a bad thermostat. The new part arrived. However, the replacement thermostat was not working. Gage and his team located a distributor that had another one in stock. He drove way outside of Dallas and picked it up on a Saturday to install it.  Something wasn't quite right. So we had to call him again.  To most this would be frustrating but for Gage, he just wanted to see it working and that we were comfortable.  Gage never one time lost his cool. He stayed focused on the task and got it done.  And as far as A#1 Air goes, they stood behind their product and replaced it under their warranty.  Well done A#1 Air.  I would refer you to any of my friend or family.

The Electrician that did the Electric Install of the 24KW whole house Generator and the Transfer Switch (David) was outstanding. He kept us informed, did quality and professional work and was a great client relations guy.

The Plumbing side??  Not so much.  That is why the rating is a 4 instead of a 5. They showed up and left. Did nothing. Got a call later that they would be back in 4 days.  Other issues. I asked the company not to send them back.  The company obliged and sent two new guys that hit the ground running and all was hooked up the end of the day.

I have to call for a start up but that is on me for timing.

***Update March 02, 2022
I posted on Nextdoor about this. To my surprise, It appears, I am not alone. I received nearly 500 reactions and nearly 300 comments from consumers whose had very similar and some, even worse experience with this company. I saw that the owner responded to my Yelp review and has asked me to call them. They have my number. Why ask me here to call? Theater? My advice: BE HONEST and do not assume all women know nothing about construction parts and their pricing. A couple of the comments on Nextdoor stated that A#1Air technicians are on commission and anything that they can add on as mark-up to parts and or labor increases their commission.  I do not know this for a fact, but these are statements from their past and not-returning customers. Others claimed that this company even offers their own financing and that they are still paying for their bill, years later. Again, I cannot confirm this, but these are statements from past clients. End of update.

If I can give them ZERO stars, I will. Consumers beware. This company will rip you off! They tried it with me, except I know my pricing from being around contractors a lot, as a Real Estate broker.
So first, I answered their Ad which was forwarded to me by a friend. It said $39 to tune up your heater and since I have dual zones, it's multiplied by 2. That's totally fine. Then I told them that I needed one of the filters changed. I was advised that if they provided the filter, the price would be higher. I also said it's fine. I do understand businesses have mark-ups.....but to a reasonable point. They wanted to charge me $127.00 for a $16.00 filter! Omg! Then just to rip me off even more, their technician said I needed a new flame sensor. Ok, that part cost between $6.00-20.00. Guess what they said it will cost for the part? You ready? .......$242.00 !!! Lol!!! Are you kidding me?!
I understand businesses need to mark up pricing. But this company's mark up is so egregious, it's thievery.
So I called them to ask about their obscene pricing. All that I got for an explanation was that, they are mark ups. A near 2000% above market price is not a mark-up! It's a we want to rip you off. To put icing on the cake, the woman who called me was very rude. I guess she was pissed that I did not fall for their scam. Oh and update. I called another company who was nice enough to accommodate me on the same day. I told them to check on that flame sensor that A #1 Air claimed was a $242.00 part that had to be replaced because it was corroded. The new technician laughed and asked if my flame sensor was Diamond studded. LOL! He also said it did not need to be replaced because it was not corroded. It only needed cleaning. Omg! I'm so glad I  caught these scammers before they ripped me off!
BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY!!! DO NOT USE A #1 Air ever! I will let a couple of my friends who referred these thieves to me, know. I will also post on Nextdoor.

Your unstable technician in truck #06 just tried to run me down and threaten me on the PGBT at 3:40 PM today. It seems that his simple mind can't comprehend that the left lane is for passing and when I overlook it threatened his already fragile masculinity so he had to act out. I stingily suggest you review the people you put in these customer-facing positions.

Patrick came out today to install a new capacitor on our recently purchased AC - it spent the whole day installing it and now it's quiet j in dont even gear it when it comes on- it was very loud before - humming sound. Patrick also checked on the Remi halo air purifier we purchased over 4 year's ago-
Thank you Patrick , I'm glad I took pictures today - poor guy out in the rain all day under his tent, happily working- rain sleet or snow Patrick is on the go!!!! Thank you A#1Air for quality employees!!! I only wish I had taken that picture when all three vans were here a few years back - getting plumbing, AC and electrical work done -
It was a sight to see-

They replaced our HVAC mechanicals (furnace, condenser, fan and evaporator), but took a decidedly that'll do approach to it. They cobbled together the connection between the furnace and our existing sheet metal ductwork with duct board, tape and glue, which failed after a few months, spilling most of our cold air into the attic rather than into the ducts. Their 'fix' for that problem was to spread more glue and tape onto their mess. My fix was to get rid of their work and do the job myself.

Can't trust this company. Will come for a routine check and upsell services to make a commission. They came in and scratched our hardwood floors and left our attic door messed up during the 2nd visit. We just renovated our entire house, which is why they said we need to clean the dust in the vents. Their customer service team says the damages were already there. Yes, that's possible since we just renovated the house. Get out of here with that nonsense.

A number one air told me that my gas furnace had to be moved to the attic because it was out of code and that I needed a new one, which wasn't a surprise. They also told me that my gas lines didn't meet city ordinance and had to be completely replaced ($10k). When the city inspector came out he said that both things were actually in compliance with city code. A#Air said that city code was substandard, that the house was old and they believed that safety issues existed. I already paid in full for the work and pitched a fit. I had everything documented with pictures and had communicated with them a lot throughout the process. They met with me then agreed to refund the cost of moving the furnace to the attic's and the cost of installing a new gas line. I was very very satisfied with that, but it did take a lot of time and energy to get it done.

When they moved my furnace to the attic, huge holes were left in the closet where it had been - on the floor and in the walls - and the former access to the attic had been left open. Mice quickly invaded the house. I was told they weren't responsible for repairs, but they taped a cardboard box over my attic access because heat was pouring into the house. They should've told me I'd have to pay for flooring in sheet rock and work, it was a surprise. Ended up costing me $700. When they moved the furnace, the tech didn't The former gas line and left it sticking up 4 inches above the floor. He also didn't remove other connections to the furnace in, so that was all included in the $700. They refunded me for that in full. They also paid for the pest control company to come out and get rid of the mice.

When I needed my old electrical system upgraded last year, they were $2000 higher than everybody else and said I needed a whole home surge protector for $2000 and that it was required by city code. I gave the bid to another company but was aggravated with having received a much higher bid from a company I did regular business with.I finally talked to them about it. Found out that the whole home surge protector makes the house much safer and what is convinced that it was worth the money, although I haven't yet been able to afford it. They said the code thing was because National codes were higher and stronger than Dallas codes, but cities are allowed to write and enforce their own codes.

Everyone at this company is professional and pleasant, they want to do the right thing. I continue to maintain annual contract with them to keep my furnace and air conditioner working properly. Be aware that the techs Get commission from their sales, so check consumer reports for the best system and shop around. I ended up getting  my new central heat and air from a number one because I trusted them.

Who's my writing from five stars to four stars due to the tons of stress time and energy it took to handle the code/not code issues. I felt I'd been lied to and spent a ton more money than I should have had to. If they haven't done the right thing, I was prepared to see them in file complaints with the state board. They did the right thing though, so I will continue to use them.

We have ALWAYS had great service from A#1. We have used them for plumbing  electrical, and HVAC service and repair. Last week they sent tech Kaylie Grandall to our Plano, TX, home to service our two HVAC units. She was all about it. Knew her craft, to be sure. Communicated with and brought in her supervisor Mike to ensure a funky wiring issue was corrected properly. I was on a tight turnaround and the entire staff was flexible and responsive. End of July and our AC went out. A#1 sent out Brandon Warford - he quickly diagnosed the problem. He went back to the HQ to try and get us a loaner window unit, maintained communication throughout. He had Matthew Sistrunk come out that night to talk unit options. Matt was great and gave us his honest opinion on what would be best for our family. He also expedited our unit due to us having a newborn. The installation team was extremely professional, courteous of my home, and got the new unit up and running.

Great company, great response time, great communication.

On July 27th my upstairs zone was not cooling, while the thermostat was set at 78 the temperature was 81. After a couple of hours temperature had not changed. The downstairs zone remained at 76. So I called A #1 Air (Who I had bought an entire system just a few years ago) to sent someone out.
On July 28 a tech came out. After several hours he determined that I needed $5,000.00 in repairs. Please note when he arrived downstairs was still cool at 76, but by the time he left it was also 81. I contracted A #1 Air in regards to  this issue in particular that I was now worse off after he came out. They said that they would send out a senior tech the next day.
The senior tech had a lower estimate, but still required the major part to be replaced which may or may not be under warranty. I agreed to have repairs done, and now it would be a case of getting that part. After 5 days I called, and was told that they were at the mercy of the Manufacturer, and they would let me know when part would be in.
As of today 9-28 it has been almost 9 weeks, and I haven't heard a word in regards to my AC being fixed.
Two weeks ago a friend put me in touch with another company that already gotten part, and repaired my  AC at 25% of the cost of the first estimate.
As they say you should always geta second estimate, and in regards to A#1 air that is for sure. Never mind the fact they might not ever get back to you.

These guys did a good job on the repair. The rep was professional and went through a series of diagnostic checks to determine that the capacitor needed to be replaced in the unit. That's where the fun starts. The charge for that capacitor was $450!!!! It sounded like a lot to me but since it was 105 degrees outside and we needed the AC fixed I paid it.  I thought maybe there was something special about the ones they use for AC maybe. I was wrong. Upon doing a little research I find that the usual cost for this part is about $25-$50!!! I found the exact same model number they installed online for under $25. So they hit me with a 1500% markup! Moral of the story is that I would not recommend using these guys with that level of markup on parts. Extrapolating if I needed a $200 part it would have cost me $2000!!!  No thanks. I am ashamed that I used these guys and got suckered on this part and feel duty bound to alert others to this scam. They got me. Don't let them get you too. Find yourself a smaller outfit who will be a little more honorable with its customers.

We had a problem with our AC system and called A #1 Air to look at it. The technician who came out checked our system and initially recommended a $1,000 thorough cleaning of our inside unit. Then after checking our outside unit and freon his recommendation changed and stated we need to replace our whole AC system. The technician scheduled an appointment with a salesman a few days later. The salesman came over checked our AC system and made some measurements. He then gave us a list of options for the replacement of our AC system. It was clear he wanted to sell us a new AC system that day. We explained that we weren't ready to decide without a second opinion. The salesman's friendly deminer quickly changed. He stated we needed to make a decision soon or we would not have a working AC system going into the hottest part of the year. We had another company come out to check our AC system that was a referral from a family member. We did not tell the second company that A #1 Air had checked the system a few days before. The technician from the second company reported that he could not find anything wrong with our AC system and that there was nothing he could do to make it run any better. That in fact giving the age of our AC system it's functioning quite well. A#1 Air doesn't seem to want to give customers honest assessments of their current AC equipment and would rather sell new AC systems.

YOU HAVE TO READ THIS!

IF I COULD RATE A ZERO, I WOULD!

I trusted and used A#1 Air for several years for my HVAC, plumbing and electrical needs.

My home was built by a custom builder in 1998 with four Trane HVAC units. After 15 years or so, I replaced two HVAC units (Lennox) and two water heaters, all by A#1 Air. When they were out to work on one AC unit, the tech asked if he could check another working AC unit for the summer. It was working fine. The tech said it needed more freon and charged me $150. The next day it stopped working. They came back and told me I needed a new HVAC unit. Mine could not be fixed. By this point they had already replaced two of my four HVAC units at $8500 each. The new unit would be $10,000.

Since it was just working, I was suspicious and disillusioned. I called an owner-operator HVAC company. He came and said the unit had too much freon and was shutting off due to increased pressure. He removed the extra freon and the unit ran well for another couple of years. When I had the new HVAC guy replace the unit, he said I am replacing your AC only. The Trane furnace you have will last another 50 years. There's no need to replace it. I never heard that from A#1Air! They charged me $8500 per unit. A#1 Air replaced my perfectly working Trane furnaces with Lennox furnaces, for no reason other than profit. The heat always worked well. My new HVAC guy only charged me $2500 and that unit runs like new. I recently had them replace the fourth AC unit. I spent $5000 with him versus $20,000 with A#1 Air.

That's $12,000 A#1 Air overcharged me in the past and they were after another $12,000 extra for my other units! After A#1 Air nearly broke my perfectly working HVAC unit, I spoke with several people within the company. I asked to speak to the owners I see on all the commercials. The employees told me I would not be speaking with them.

The take home message: A#1 Air is in the HVAC Sales Business, even if you don't need one. They will break your working units to sell you a new one and will sell you more than you actually need for more profit.

Again, I spent $5000 with my new honest AC guy to replace two AC units versus the $20,000 A#1 Air now charges. They no longer get access to break my working equipment to sell me more.

I'm writing this in hopes of getting a response from the company! I have called multiple times to nothing but an answering service, trying to get my city inspection completed and have had no response from 10-15 attempts on a new AC system I had installed over 3 months ago.  Last week I received a certified letter from the company stating my warranty is voided if this is not taken care of and to call the number, which again I call every number listed multiple times including talking with customer service stating I will get a call from that department. It appears this is their way of doing business to avoid covering the warranty they sold me. I do not recommend having them do anything as they do not follow up on their work!!!

So your response is for me to try to call you!?!?!  Did you even rear my review!!?? You have my information, CALL ME!!! What is this an automated response, like your answering service!!!

Buyer beware is advised when dealing with these salesmen. We had a coil freeze in July 2021. They convinced us we needed this $7000.00 repair and installation of 2, A1 Air Next generation Green Air systems. (No new coil) This would fix our problem, and make the air so much cleaner. Well what it did was increase our electric bill by 1/3 every month. Then 6 months later when it starts to get warm the unit is not working correctly again. So they come out and tell me it's the same coil and needs to be replaced at another pricey fix. We called another local company for a second opinion. Yes coil needed replaced and should've been the first time, not t9 mention this company did it $1000 cheaper.  The extra $7k we wasted on that fix was not needed in their opinion. The coil would've fixed our problem and saved us $7k that we are still paying on thanks to A1's convenient financing!! Thanks for nothing A1 Air. Me nor my family members or friends will EVER use these guys again. They are about repairs that insure future repairs. BEWARE AND GET ANOTHER OPINION.  My fault and learned my lesson trusting them.

I purchased an AC unit in 2015. Every year my unit freezes and every year I have to pay hundreds of dollars in repairs and freon. Some years it takes several trips from different service technicians to diagnose the problem. Today we spent over 700.00. With the money that I have spent in repairs over the years plus the money we pay for their membership we could have purchased a quality unit from a reputable company that stands by their product and provides a warranty with actual coverage. I have never been so disappointed in a product, a company and the service provided. What a waste of money. Don't be duped by their advertising.  Guaranteed right day or night and 100% satisfaction guarantee are words this company does not stand behind.

We had 3 light fixtures installed (we have high ceilings) so it was a challenge getting them up ourselves. We paid about $150.00 (this was 6 months ago) and we has all 3 light fixtures installed. Two of them were chained so those were a bit more challenging as we had to center it with our furniture (kitchen dinning, and Pool area).

The technician was right on time and in no time he managed to do the job. We had him over twice as one of the fixtures arrived separately. Overall very professional and clean installation. He even cleaned up after he was done.

Dishonest company. As soon as our AC's warranty went out they told us we could risk paying $1200 to fix it, which may or may not work and would be non refundable if it didn't work. This was the 3rd visit we had in 3 months and we were charged for each one even though they never solved our problem. We went with another company, that charged us 1/3 of the cost to make the AC unit repair. They assured us that if that didn't solve the problem they would apply the cost to the next solution suggested. It worked and we didn't have to replace our AC unit just after the 10 year warranty went out. Very glad we got another opinion. Don't waste your time with these people.

I have two AC Units out here on the farm.   One was not keeping up and the other, a 5 ton was on its last leg after 15 years of service.  We called A#1 Air as they are a well established company with good brand recognition and we used them in a previous house some 13 years ago.

David, the technician came out that evening, charged up one unit (which now works great) and then took time to quote a new 5 ton heat pump for the main house.   He was personable and friendly as we addressed our concerns.

The new unit was installed and I was amazed how quickly Guillermo and Jesus were able to completely remove the old systems from the attic, have the new system in place and operating.   Guillermo provided us with the information that we needed to use it.   All done before noon.

All three people from A#1 air that we had to our residence were very respectful of us and our property.  It was a pleasure to have our systems serviced and installed by competent professionals.

I wish I have read these reviews instead of watching TV adds. I have the same complaint.... I purchased 3 brand new air conditioners from A1. I have called them out many times and they still are breaking down.
If you call them you will hear Can not. Here are my questions, can I talk to your parts department, can I talk to the owner, what parts are you waiting for, when are you going to get the parts...and it goes on...
Good Advice ...call someone else.

Let me start out by saying that the technicians I have worked with, have been great... but apparently that's where it stops.  A year ago my ac unit died so we went with A#1 air to replace not just the AC unit, but the entire HVAC system since the heater and blower needed to be replaced.  We opted for peace of mind by having a warranty on our unit (this obviously cost us more) and we thought we wouldn't need to contact them again for quite some time.  Not a month goes by and it turns out that a part didn't work in the new heating unit and was causing an error to be shown in our thermostat.  A part was ordered and then replaced within a couple of days.  Fast forward to this week, the weather started to heat up again so we turned on the AC unit much to our surprise and the unit didn't blow cold air.  We let it go for about an hour then called A#1 air since it was under warranty.

First Tech (AC): great guy, very professional tells me that the unit isn't getting any power and confirms that the breaker is not sending power to the unit, we pay the service fee and an electrician is then dispatched to our home.

Second Tech (Electrician): another great guy, just looking out for what's best for us, lets us know that our fuse box is old and indeed not supplying power to the AC Unit.  He lets us know we have 2 options, replace the entire box or just the fuse, the fuse was $500 by itself and we were assured the box was not safe.   We agreed to update the fuse box, he swapped some wires around to try and get power to the AC unit since it was 90 degrees for the next few days.  He calls for another AC tech to be dispatched to our house to get the unit working for the night.

Third Tech (AC): great guy again, assures me it's a simple fix and starts working on the unit.  He applies some new hardware to help with the startup, the unit doesn't work as expected.  He tries another option and still doesn't work.  Finally tells me that the pump is dead (keep in mind I just bought this a year ago) and that it is the cause for my breaker going bad.... great now it's costing me more money.  I'm assured that they're going to do what they can to make things right, I was promised that window units would be sent to help keep things cool.

Next day, electrician shows up to get the job done (great job too) and we call customer service and they say the part for the AC is in Waco and that they would call us by the end of the day or the following morning.  No call that night.  No call in the morning.  We're on Day 3 of work from home without AC during the quarantine with the temperature reaching 90 degrees each day, my wife calls customer service and is told that someone will call her back from service.  3 hours later, still no call, I call again and they tell me that a part runner left 17 minutes ago to go pick up my part, I inquired from where and they wouldn't tell me where from.  Customer service then says that they will call me when the part shows up to schedule an installation.

This has not been a great experience.  It has been 2 hours since I called them last and I feel like I could have gone and picked up the part faster.  As I said before, the technicians have been great, but that is where it stops.

I had work done on my home a few months ago because my fan keeps running and won't turn off. I called them out. They charged me over $1000 said it was fixed and I'm having the same issue again. Called then and they said it would be another charge to come out and another charge to fix the same issue I'm having when I originally called them out. For anyone looking for an AC repair coming do your research and find another company.

How come it takes over 24 hours and multiple phone calls from the client to get the ball rolling on your guaranteed satisfaction/resolution? And how come your staff won't give customers that spend 16k on a unit Sharry or James' contact information to make you aware of the issue? Your salesman's response to me via text trying to figure out when the elusive results would be is this...My boss just called me back and said they're trying to work on getting extra window units and get out there. I contacted my manager and he's working on it, there's not anything else I can do at the moment. They also informed me that supervisors don't work weekends, so if your customer's have complicated issues they have to wait until during the week. Is that getting it right, day or night?

Customer relations manager, Leslie, gave me her number to call with any issues, and that number is of course being routed to an answering service.

Instead of fixing a bad installation promptly of one of your most expensive units that was put in 2 months ago, I get your window units are on their way (in an hour or so).

***attached 2 pics of getting it right, day or night

I have purchase (2) AC units from A#1 Air.  The main reason was their no fee warranty.  Both my units are still under warranty and one went out this week I think from faulty installation.  They could not come out until the next day and charged me a $129.00 service fee.  They said........ Oh, your no fee only applies to the labor and repair.   You know what,  that is not free.   If I would have known that I would have never bought from them.
you see James and Sherry Green everyday on TV.  Just  try talking to them.  Not going to happen.

Way over priced and deceptive salesmen for tech and management.

Tech arrived... walked in and did no trouble shooting at all.  Without touching the water heater said it was broken and they do not deal with Rheem warrantee even though on the Rheem website A#1 Air is listed as a Pro Partner. Told me it was  going to be $3,000.00 to replace it or I could disconnect it and take it to Home Depot myself... which sounded wrong. I called another company that said they deal with Rheem warrantee all the time. You just call and tell Rheem what is wrong. Give them the serial number and you get the part in a few days for free when the item is still under the manufacturers warrantee. The service repair men just put it in for you and you pay them labor. Had if fixed for $200.00 from the second company. Even talked to a manager at A#1 Air that said they do not do warrantee work because it takes them a year to get paid by Rheem... A LIE... the customer pays for labor and Rheem supplies the parts for free, even a whole new water heater if needed. A#1 Air just wants to sell a 900.00 water heater for 3000.00. Be aware if you deal with this company.

I appreciate that they were able to come out on the same day. The tech was very informative and very understanding. But the price is just wrong. $510 to replace a capacitor that I replaced for $50 on my own. I know AC repair isn't cheap, but this company's prices are far above what I've experienced from other companies in the past.

One year ago A1 Air sold us a total of 3 new units for $35k. I didn't want these as I'd already felt like A1 had questionable business practices through their annual maintenance plan, but my husband travels a lot and the salesman sold him on the idea of having new, reliable top of the line units so I wouldn't have any problems while home alone.

A couple of months in we had our first unit break down, which after some frustrating exchanges and several hot nights was repaired.

Two weeks ago the same unit broke down again. They sent 3 technicians over the course of 2 days before finally sending a 4th tech who is their guru, on day 3. He replaced almost all of the parts and got us running again. I won't spend time explaining the logistic nightmares in dealing with the first 3 techs, but the whole process was a joke.

Guess what... tonight another unit just stopped working. Who knows how long this repair will take, but I'm so furious I just had to post before waiting to see.

Over the course of this process my husband has asked about a dozen times to talk to the owners (the Greens). Per their advertising of how engaged they are, it seems spending $35k on units that start regularly breaking down would warrant that, but we've gotten run around about how they don't work in the office and it takes tons of approval to get an audience with them and the customer svc folks just can't make that happen.

I would warn everyone, don't be sold on their Cadillac of ACs sales pitch. We spent top dollar hoping to have reliable units and in 10 months, we've had more time without a working AC than in 10 years combined. Please heed my advice and take your business elsewhere.

I bought an HVAC unit from A#1 Air 6 yrs ago and since I bought it it has been nothing but trouble.  It has never worked properly in weater over 100F.
Now it is beginning to fail and the technicians aren't good at all.  The unit is suppose to have a 16yr warranty so I called for service when it stopped cooling and started leaking.  They came and supposedly fixed it, but today 2 days later it isn't cooling again.  It's midnight and the temperature outside is cooler than in the house.
Another sleepless night thanks to A#1 Air and the overpriced DAIKIN HVAVs they sell.
BEWARE!!!  Don't buy from these people.

***BUYER BEWARE*** these guys will rob you blind if you let them.  Had an issue with a main board... Their price to replace the board $1,560 parts and labor.  Tried to sell me on a replacement unit $4,500.  When I told them no - price went down a $1,000.  Kept trying to sell me on the annual maintenance plan.  This after waiting until 6PM for them to show up after calling the day before.

A quick google search shows the board costs $292.00.  2 local providers quoted the work for under $650... Again just plain robbery.

You are paying double or triple the actual price.  Total used car salesmen trying to take advantage of A/C being down and hot house.  Don't do it.

I contacted A#1air to come out and diagnose my issue with my air conditioner the agent was prompt and on time he was very courteous & professional which was a plus. The dismay came with his estimate  of the services he said I needed. Times are hard for everyone but you try and take a vantage of a customer to ensure you have food on your table by taking food from somebody else's table with a bogus estimate is unacceptable. The gentleman gave me an estimate of $6700 to repair $12,997 to replace a unit that wasn't broken. I decided to seek a second opinion which the quote of $535.00 was all needed to repair this issue. I'm not sure if his misdiagnosis was intentional for financial gain or if he is just not a skilled electrician nevertheless he's a representation of this company I will not recommend this company to anyone as this may be an ongoing  practice that they promote their agent's to do to get over on the consumers.I reached back out to the agent to advise of the second estimate and he told me that A#1 is a large company and that's their prices point blank he said he has a company point sheet that he works from and his quote was based off that. Please get a second opinion on all estimates. Deceptive pricing is illegal.

I reached out to multiple companies to get quotes. A#1 Air was the most expensive and not the cheapest.  My husband and I decided to go with this company because of Nick their sales / service guy. He seemed very truthful and was available any time I needed him. They came out on Monday completed the install then came out on wed to clean the duct work. Great service all around. The only thing I would say about them I wasn't 100% pleased with how they left the house with junk all over the floor.  The previous team cleaned up after themselves and the 2nd team didn't. I'm not sure if it is part of what they were supposed to do but one did and the other one didn't. I just had knee surgery on Tuesday and now I'm having to vacuum up the mess other than that I would highly recommend them.

I was not asked to write this, get no benefit, am not paid and come to you as a Public Service. I am qualified to write this to YOU, I have my Building and Engineering Contractor's License since June 1982, am on Surety Bond Renewal year40 and am also Licensed and bonded as a PUBLIC INSURANCE ADJUSTER. I provided AAA Judicial Services for 17 years on claims to $10million with the likes of the Kenneth Star Law Firm before me, have qualified Expert and testified well over a hundred times.

I am in real trouble and hired A#1 Air to repair the 5 ton HVAC System we bought about 1-1/2 years ago; cooling went out in this 100 Degree Heat waive and I am so sick I cannot tolerate the heat.

A Hospital Paid a Heroin Addict for Blood (RH-a) and an ambulance took me in there, I was in a Coma when they did a transfusion. I ended up getting diseases that were not hereditary, Stage-4 Liver Cirrhosis, Cancer, Diabetes, my doctor's diagnosis list is several pages long because apparently those drug addicts were sharing needles so I not only got what the one person had who was selling the blood but what all those drug addicts had. My medical is over $3 Million with multiple cancer surgeries, 3heart surgeries, radiation, removed thyroid, etc.

A#1 Air came in and immediately figured out the motor blew due to static (from the storm), so they contacted the manufacturer, Ordered the Motor and it has already been 2 weeks. They are telling our friends at A#1 that the variable speed motor is on back order and there is no eta (estimated time of arrival). I am subjected to cardiac arrest when my blood pressure goes over 190-200 and am taking Opioids and pain medications every 2 hours to circumvent my hospitalization. My Wife of 22years is naturally worried about this.

Let me tell you what these people at A#1 did voluntarily, knowing I am sick and trying so hard to attend the needs of their customer. You cannot buy such personal attention as A#1 used its skill and professionalism to help us while asking for nothing in return. They first sent their technician to our home (about 3,500 S/F) and installed a Window Air Conditioner in the Master Bedroom Suite to bring down the temperature in an effort to help give me some comfort.

I was surprised they would do so voluntarily as most [sub]contractors do not spend money they need not spend. It would easier to pull teeth from an elephant with a pair of tweezers (haha).

A week later the wrong part showed up, the Manufacturer acknowledged the error and advised A#1 that the special variable speed motor required for our 5Ton system was put on back order and they did not know when it would become available, shipped or arrive to be installed for us. I am in no condition to prosecute claims now.

Incredibly, A#1 went past the call of duty and any obligation they had, found a generic motor in their shop and dispatched a technician at no cost to us, to install that motor and get the system on waiting to get the motor. I was taken aback by their kindness, their expertise, the fact they expedited something like this and generally, their descent morals and scruples. Where does a consumer find a contractor like this with goodness to the core? The Answer: The Pearly Gates

In 40 years of my work I have otherwise dealt with the exact opposite. I even represented the Sisters of Social Service when that contractor tried to rip them off. Can you believe it, screwing a Nun?

I do not hesitate recommending A#1 Air, they are deserving of the recommendation. Please know, I have only done this twice, so this is the second time in the last 10 years for good cause shown.

You cannot expect any company to do this because my conditions and circumstances are rather unusual and unique, but what is important here is the fact A#1 would voluntarily step up and do these types of things. I do not know them, never met them before, and agreed to pay the price they asked.  I am neutral and have no connection except to be a typical customer who found them in an advertisement like you would. They did not know I had provided AAA Judicial Services, was a Public Adjuster, etc., it goes to show you what kind of people these are; and that is what's priceless.

Submitted respectfully, I strongly recommend you contact nobody but A#1 Air when you need to maintain, service, repair or replace your equipment. The machinery might all be close in price, but with A#1 you will get that Guarantee -  Warranty YOU NEED.

I would steer clear of this company.  They will only come out and service your equipment when it's failed.  Good luck with preventative maintenance.

I contacted A#1 Air to have my AC system inspected.  I was given an appointment one week out from when I originally contacted them.  The day before my service call they informed me that they needed to reschedule my service 3 weeks due to an influx of urgent calls.  They rescheduled me for 3 weeks later and offered a $20 discount.  The day before my next service they called and said due to an influx of urgent calls they needed to reschedule and it would be another 3 weeks out.  This is horrible customer service.  Why would I schedule a third time thinking that they would do anything different?

Called other companies and was told they don't service Parker County. Called A#1, and was put on the schedule immediately. I received an email ahead of the technician's arrival with his photo, what the company vehicle looked like, and a complete company history and specials they were running.
Dane was prompt, professional, extremely cognizant and diligent with COVID safety protocols. He diagnosed the issue, gave us our options, and performed the work authorized quickly and accurately. Our house is so much more comfortable. Yay!!!
I would definitely recommend this company to friend or strangers needing any of their offered services.

They advertise for a free landscape lighting estimate online, and when the worker shows up, he tells me he can't and doesn't do that.  He doesn't have the tools, wire, shovel, etc. and only ONE guy in their business knows about landscape lights.  What a waste of my time, when I made it very clear that was why I requested service.

With that being a wash, I asked if he could look at some pool wires that go with our control panel that are exposed. He tells me that's an easy fix, having him do it would be like hiring a, AND I QUOTE, DOCTOR for someone who needs a bandaid ... plus he doesn't have those wires...and to call the pool company.  Okay.

I requested he have the ONE guy who does landscape lighting come out, SO he then got on his phone with someone.  After he got off the phone, he didn't have an answer for me, except to tell me that he'd hook my lights back up to the transformer and see if he could find the problem for $690.  That's right - Now he could LOOK at them and trouble shoot for that amount.

I told him NO THANK YOU.  Then he still tried to get his service fee of $69.  What BS!
Thank goodness I'd printed off the coupon from THEIR WEBSITE that states it's a FREE estimate - that I never got - because he said he had to take a payment.  I sent him on his way with a printed piece of paper.
We will never call again.

Awfal salesperson, I called to get an estimate on a new HVAC system and the sales person enters my home and first thing he asks is what's your budget?
Aren't  you first suppose to look and my existing system give me your estimate based on what I need? So if I say my budget is 20K or even 40K, you will add unnecessary things to bring the total to my budget? What a dishonest rip off business.

Absolutely disappointed in this company. Like many of the other negative reviews, if you don't want to waste your time or money, go elsewhere for your A/C repairs. My A/C was running, but not cooling, so I contacted A#1 Air. The lady I spoke with was extremely friendly and very helpful in finding me a technician. When the technician came out, however, he was less than helpful in finding the actual cause of my A/C problem. He simply connected his machine to it, then told me the compressor was out. His words verbatim were, The compressor isn't working. I don't know why but it's not working. He then told me he would get me an estimate. About 10 minutes later he returned with three RIDICULOUS estimates. The first was to just fix my current compressor for $4140, next was the compressor and something else for $9190, and the last was an entirely new system for over $10,000. I quickly said no, paid him the $129 service fee and he went on his way.

I soon found another man, Fuller Air Conditioning, so he came out, took the panel off my A/C unit (the A#1 Air guy never did that), charged my A/C, (the A#1 Air guy never even attempted that), and put a pound of refrigerant in my A/C (A#1 Air guy certainly didn't do that), and I'm happy to say that my A/C is now cooling down exceptionally to a wonderful 72 degrees...and all for $150!

If you all need ANY A/C work done, please reach out to Kim Fuller at Fuller Air Conditioning. He was such an honest, sincere man who wants people to have working A/C units in our hot Texas heat, and he definitely won't salesman you into thinking you need something fixed that you don't or a new A/C unit if you don't.

I truly feel that a refund of my $129 service fee is in order as A#1 Air did nothing to try to rectify my A/C issue. I never mind paying for quality work, but when work isn't even attempted to fix the problem, that's a company quality issue. Very disappointing.

I am a DIY'er, but I don't touch anything related to HVAC, electrical, or plumbing problems... I call certified professionals. A#1 replaced all of our smoke detectors last year, so we called them out the other day when our a/c stopped blowing cold air - at 2am. Yes, we called at 2am and they answered like it was 10am. They get 5 stars for being the best all around repair service. Always a 100% professional experience. The staff at A#1 ensures that you have a pleasant experience, from the initial phone call - through the technician's arrival. Mark repaired our a/c and did a fantastic job. I am not a particularly easy customer to deal with (unless there is food involved), but Mark is an expert and handled our service call without any issues. I have no complaints (which is rare).
Now I must add, if you are looking for low prices and discount repair crews - A#1 won't meet that criteria. Not even close. But, for those of you who only want respectful and respectable professionals entering your home and providing quality repairs - call A#1.... literally Any Time.

A#1 Air recommended and quoted around $12,000 to $15,000 to replace my entire AC or over $1000 for a not recomended pyrric short term repair that would take 2 days to fix.

I had a different company come out that fixed it in about 30 min for less than $400.

Last straw, a week ago we called about our thermostat wasn't working we had the appointment at 4:30, the guy ended up showing a 7:00ish, then he wanted to up charge us for a default thermostat that was only $120, he tried to charge us $700, when my boyfriend had asked for the list of parts that was needed the guy had told him he didn't know, like ummmm then where are you getting those numbers from? And we told the guy the thermostat is under warranty then he told us he can't like it up because it's after hours, like no that is your fault you showed up that late, then we called them to ask to speak to a manager they said they will get back with us, it's been a week...

The technicians were nice but they are over priced and charge a fee to visit but don't include it in their price. If you do decide to go with them though there are equally good companies out there that are not as expensive just be aware their warranty only covers parts not their exhorbinant fee to replace the flawed  part. I won't use them again myself.

My wife had A#1 install an air conditioning heating system in our house in 2017, they did the complete thing, compressors, evaporator coils and furnaces.  In 2018 the upstairs AC would not cool, she called A#1, they sent out a technician who said it was low on Freon which I thought was unique since it was new system and Freon gas should only be low if there was a leak and apparently there was a leak, so when A#1 did the installation it was not correct, the technician said he could not figure it out and just refilled the system.  I spoke with A#1 air and they sent a team of techs out to look at it, I thought they fixed it, apparently not.  I just had a tech check the system and the upstairs system is low on Freon and is not cooling.  Apparently A#1 does not really know what they are doing and there customer service is only good until the check clears.

We had A#1 Air come out and look at our HVAC that was not cooling. My wife was home with the technician and they called me on the phone to go over what was wrong and our options. The tech explained to me that our condenser motor and 2 capacitors were bad and needed to be replaced for approximately $2800 but that they would not warranty the work and that we really needed 2 new systems. I asked if we just topped it off with coolant would the unit start working again, his response was that without the bad fan motor and capacitor being replaced that it would not cool. He recommended a Comfort Care specialist come visit us later that evening. We agreed to talk to the Comfort Care specialist who was very pushy and tried to scare us in to increased costs if we did not replace both systems the next day.

After thinking about it overnight we decided to get a second opinion from an independent HVAC contractor. When he arrived, he informed me that the fuse box for the broken condenser had been flipped to OFF and that the motor was working just fine and our unit just needed servicing.

We bought our unit from them last year and spent a good chunk of money to get a warranty and good unit. Well one year later and it doesn't work and it also blew our breaker out in our electrical box which caused us to replace the whole thing. However AC still isn't fixed. It's over 80 degrees in our house and they told us the part they need to repair it is in Waco. I could get to Waco and back in the time we've had to wait. We have paid them so much money and we are still sitting here in the heat. We were told we would get window units and that hasn't happened. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars is because the electrician was amazing and super fast and friendly. Actually the technicians have been very friendly, however he is the only one that accomplished anything. Best advice, shop around.
Amendment: I would like to add that after posting this review we were contacted by customer service and they were able to get Window AC units out to us that evening and the part was received that evening and our unit repaired the next morning. We were compensated for a small portion of the amount we had to pay to replace our electrical panel due to the fact that we were not informed that it might not be compatible with such a high performance unit. I appreciate their quick work on our behalf and hope they work like this with all customers. Not just the technicians but in their offices as well. All the technicians were helpful and kind, it was when we had questions from the office that weren't answered and felt like we were not a priority. Hopefully in the future we will see quick responses before we get to our boiling point.

They advertise 24/7 Emergency Service & Repair.  I just called them with a plumbing emergency. Today is Wednesday.  The nice receptionist lady told me the soonest they could have anyone here is Monday.

I don't think these guys understand what 24/7 emergency service means.  Hopefully they will adjust their promotional materials to reflect the fact that they're useless.

Service was fine, no problems there.  They got my AC up and running at 9:00 at night on one of the hottest days of the year, and they did it quickly and at short notice.

The Technician did try to enter my house at one point without knocking and almost let my dogs out, which was weird.

Main complaint is that the price was EXCEPTIONALLY high.  $449 to spend about 20 minutes replacing a $50 part and I was told that was not an emergency fee and was the normal rate.  They know it's hot and people are desperate and they are using that to their advantage.

I had my entire HVAC replaced last year through A#1 air and it has only been problems with them. Everything from blaming me for their mistakes to missing issues that has caused me not to be able to sell my home. Stay away from A#1 air.

This started last year when I noticed one floor of my 3 floor condo was not getting cooled. I called them out, and they said it was my zoning motors and zoning system. After spending thousands of dollars they said it was fixed, but then things got even worse. They came back out and advised me to get an entirely new HVAC system. I talked to the salesman, we agreed on a system, spent even more money, but at least I would have AC during the Texas summer.

They start removing my AC system and installing the new one. At the point they're about finished, they tell me they need to turn off the sprinkler heads in my attic. I noted I wasn't informed about this and would have to call my HoA since they control all the sprinkler heads for my unit. It turns out they will not install the new system for any reason why the sprinkler heads are active since they need to do some welding and my HoA will not turn off the sprinkler heads for any reason since if there was a fire, the HoA would be liable. At that point, I was stuck in the middle of these two sides.

After some time they start removing the system they just installed and tell me I'm out of luck because my old system was destroyed in the process of removing it and they can't install the new system. They tell me there are zero options at this point, want to terminate the contract, and blame everything on me. The head of sales calls me and tells me about this, I tell him I was never informed about the sprinkler heads, he tells me that's impossible and calls me unreasonable. We yell at each other for a while, and I eventually read him the contract to show there's nothing about sprinkler heads. He proceeds to tell me he hadn't read the contract but was sure they were right and angrily hung up. 20 minutes pass as I'm researching legal action and he eventually calls back all apologies. Turns out, A#1 did mess up and suddenly there's a solution.

They can glue the pieces together instead of welding them, it's just more expensive but since it's their fault, they would cover it. They have to order the part and a day or two later they finish. Except they didn't glue it properly. All the freon leaks out into my attack, they try again, and things seem to work. Except they don't, turns out they missed the initial problem at that first visit. See they initially saw the zoning system was the problem but they never bothered replacing the zoning board, the root of all my problems (and the cheapest to fix). I never needed a new system, I just needed that zoning board replaced. They replaced that and all was good for a while.

Over the next year I had some minor problems and they came out and fixed them. Now, I'm trying to sell this condo and it's only grief and butting up right to the end of my warranty. First buyer inspector came out, and failed it on the AC but didn't get us specific details but they pulled out. A#1 came out, did a full diagnostic, and blamed the problem on the inspector. Had another buyer lined up and they did an inspection and, again, it failed on the AC, buyer pulls out.

Do not use A#1. They are crooks, they try to upsell you when you don't need things, they miss crucial issues, and they do shoddy work just to get out of warranty work. On the upside, they paid for weeks of hotel stay and I haven't paid anything since the initial install, but it's not in any way worth it.

This has been my worst experience with a business ever and I can't wait to never use them again.

If you value your time, money and peace of mind do not use this company. They came out to check our A/C and told us two of our units were old with many repaired parts and they needed additional repairs to be ready for the hot summer season. Since I am pregnant my sweet husband wanted to make sure I had A/C this summer so we decided to be proactive and replace the two units. We will never be proactive as home owners again. A sales person called us before the end of the month with specials and offered us two thousand off to purchase before the end of the month (which was in just a few days). We purchased the units and had them installed. We have owned these units for 10 days and had approximately 6 separate service calls to this company. Each time they come out, discover a problem then repair a part or something. Each time we have to call back and explain we are having another new issue they want to put us in the repair line with  everyone else when should receive priority since we are having issues with brand new equipment. If I could go back in time I would NEVER buy new units and especially would never, ever recommend this company, not even to my worst enemy. I have talked to every department with nothing more than sorry and I even called Michael Witten, who is supposedly one of their high up guys, two days in a row with no returned call. This has truly been a nightmare. Either the equipment they use is faulty or their technicians (who are very polite) are completely incompetent. We have even had supervisors and lead technicians out on several of these calls. I now have two brand new units with multiple repairs parts that still aren't working. I hope if you are considering giving your hard earned money to any entity of this company you will reconsider.

Very dishonest company, my one star review doesn't come close to how they really score. We used them for several years and even had a maintenance agreement which was a complete waste of money. They replaced our heating system in 2018 and tried several years ago to get us to replace the AC unit stating at one point it was dead, but since has continued to work fine. Recent AC tuneup special was the last straw, the tech tried to report several issues including a bad capacitor that replacing was quoted at$390.00. I declined, but had the Freon topped off. Can't say it was really needed though. I replaced the capacitor myself in 5 minutes for $27.00. Not convinced it was necessary as no improvement in the units operation. Unfortunately this industry is known for taking advantage of consumers and its best to get another opinion when selecting a service company.

Be careful. They came out to look at our furnace after the ice storm and said it would be almost as cheap to replace the system as it would be to repair the broken motor. He said the system was installed in 2012, which was longer ago that I thought, but I didn't argue. Then he went out to look at the condenser and came in saying that it was old, but he could give me a deal on a whole new system. I asked him which condenser it was, knowing that one of the two had been replaced a few years back, but he said they were both exactly the same age and model and each had rust on them.  This definitely raised a red flag for me, but I still thought that maybe it has been installed longer ago than I realized. I was practically ready to sign up for a new system, which was over twelve thousand dollars. The service guy did a great job telling me how great the new system was and they had a couple left at a discounted price because it had a scratch or dent and they couldn't sell it as new.

After he left, I went out to look at the condensers myself. One was clearly newer than the other, had no rust at all, and was obviously a different model. I called someone else for a second opinion. He came out, agreed that it was the motor, but said our system was less than 5 years old and would still be under warranty. So instead of over twelve thousand dollars, the bill from the new company was around 200. The part was free because the furnace is under warranty, and will be for another 5 years. Bottom line is proceed with caution and get a second opinion. I was told things by A#1 air that simply were not true.

This place is all about up-selling you, whether you need it or not.  If you call for an estimate, they'll send out a highly-trained, highly-motivated salesperson.  I called for a simple duct-cleaning estimate, and they sent out this slick-willy salesman who clearly had his own best interest at heart.  I'll give him this: he was a convincing salesman.  He lied with a lot of conviction, which is what made me so angry.  I fear for elderly or otherwise vulnerable people who will get robbed by these people because they don't have anyone else who can provide an objective opinion.  As soon as he arrived, he made a b-line for my attic to inspect the system - he clearly had no interest in performing a duct cleaning.  I made the mistake of mentioning that my humidity had been too high lately, and that was all he needed to try to tell sell me the moon.  The humidity issue ended up being that we'd accidentally left the fan running, and simply turning the fan off fixed the issue.  Apparently turning off my system fan saved me over 8 grand.

This guy gave me three estimates (actual estimate attached to this review):

1. The best option for $8,181.  (Not far off the price of a brand new HVAC system by the way.)
2. A mid-level option for $5,358.
3. Their bare-bones option at $3,990.

And of course they were pushing the financing option, which make them even more money on interest.  I asked for DUCT CLEANING mind you.  Instead he tried to sell me a re-seal of my entire system and a bunch of other stuff I don't need.  Luckily for me, my brother is a very accomplished HVAC professional (who unfortunately doesn't live on the mainland U.S., or he'd have done the work), and my brother was able to verify that the estimate was a complete scam.

Steer clear of A #1 Air - you work too hard for your money to let these greedy folks have it.

We bought a new air conditioner last year and we're having difficulty getting the air in the master bedroom. We had A#1 Air come out a few times after the installation to see why we weren't getting the air flow. Finally, Allen, was able to see we needed the ducts moved to be straight instead of the u-shape we had. I was impressed and we are now having good air flow! We have bought 2 Dakin air conditioners in the past 3 years.

Had company to come look at my current heating and cooling. The diagnosis was bad. I had already figured we would need to replace the 20 year old system. On Wednesday feb 3 2021 the new system was installed. On Friday feb 5th the ductwork was cleaned. We noticed before bed it was cold in the house but did not over think it. The thermostat was a bit technical. But during the night I was cold so in the morning the temp was 63 degrees. I kept pushing buttons to get temp to raise nothing at one point it was blowing straight up cold air. I did finally figure out where the turn OFF was. So I called they will be out sometime today which was Saturday February 6th. It was after 9:30 pm at night before anyone came. This guy was not able to get it to run so we had to wait on another guy to come and he was able to get it to run on electric instead of heat pump. With that being said it is going to be next Wednesday before someone can come out and fix it to run correctly. It was fixed but then the tech said we are going to have to come back out to enlarge a return because it furnace is not able to pull enough air. Now it is Friday 12th 2021. I got a call at 8:19 am they are on their way out I asked how long 30 to 45 minutes. I called at 9:56 wanting to know where they are, as the lady was getting in touch with dispatch they arrived. This has been a nightmare. Maybe we are (that) unlucky ones but I am EXTREMELY UNHAPPY. A new install and broke 2 days later. Takes over a week for a complete fix. Terrible service, terrible communication and no one in management to call and apologize and make it right. I am hoping we have no more issues on this install anytime soon.

I have no idea how this company ONLY has three and a half stars - this has been one of the BEST customer service oriented companies that I have ever worked with.

Here's our story:
Our A/C unit has been giving us problems for about six months. We bought this house in February of 2016 so we still had our one-year home warranty. We called our home warranty company and they sent out a technician from a company I don't know the name of. It was one of the worst experiences I have ever endured from a company. A couple of months passed and my husband told me to get ahold of A#1 Air. We've seen their commercials and read reviews on them (like we do with everything in our life) and decided to go ahead and pay the $59 fee for them to come out and check our system.

The first technician that came out, Mr.Carter (I don't remember his first name...), was extremely knowledgeable and took the time to show us everything he was checking. He gave us advice on different things he had seen throughout the years - he had been in this service (maybe even with this company) for over a decade and had worked in multiple positions. Such a great technician and a great first impression of the company.

After explaining everything that was wrong and giving us our options, we decided to just go ahead and replace our A/C unit in the attic (luckily we didn't have to replace the heat pump outside either - and thanks to A#1 Air employees I know a little more about the whole unit!). Mr. Carter sent out the next guy, Bubba Johnson. If Mr. Carter's customer service hadn't sold us on being lifetime clients of A#1 Air then Bubba Johnson did! Not only was he extremely personable and professional but he too knew the industry and the product inside and out. He brought us into the attic to show us every detail that could possibly happen with our unit that we were replacing.

Now all of that happened this past Friday (it's now Monday). Bubba gave us the option to finance or pay cash (card, cash, or check). At the initial meeting on Friday we told him we were going to pay one way and he said to call him if that changed by the time they were going to come out on Monday to install. Well, we did change our mind on how we were going to pay so we called at 8:30AM on Monday. Bubba answered on this second ring and it sounded like we had just woke him up. We felt terrible! Apparently, Mr. Johnson works nights. After apologizing profusely and him telling us it was really no big deal, he was able to come out to our house again around 11:00AM to get the papers signed and ready for installation.

Not only have we had AMAZING service from both gentlemen that have come to our house but the call center has been incredible!! They call about 30-40 minutes before a technician or Comfort Advisor (Bubba's title) arrives to give us a head's up, which is great for us because we have a dog that we have to put in the yard before we let people in.

Later today is when our installation is scheduled. Bubba said it should take about four hours. After they come, I will edit this review; honestly, nothing at this point could ruin how I see A#1 Air. They are just a phenomenal company and I am definitely going to be using them again in the future for any of my HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing or Security needs!

Thank you A#1 Air for having such amazing people work for you!

I scheduled with A1 and would receive calls every 1-2 hours with the same scripted line, we still have you on the schedule for service.... On the first day, it went on for a few hours.  So I cancelled meetings the next day to allow a window of 9:30-1:00 to be scheduled.   I was told that I am On the schedule between 9:30-1:00.

And day 2, same situation.  I receive 5 calls telling me the same thing.

I lost 4 hours of my life and income due to this, and became irate at the lack of clear and honest communication with the scheduling team.   I asked that I be called 30 minutes before the tech is to arrive.   Instead I get multiple calls to keep me on the hook.  Nobody knows anything about how long it will be etc.

That was it.  I wasted my time and money.  I asked to be compensated for the $280 loss and suggested they really evaluate the customer service model and the delay and promise and not deliver strategy as it may work with people who don't work, but don't schedule with someone for a specific window if you can't make it.  And be honest up front.

Now that I have read the reviews, I can say that this company is designed to rack and stack. And the calls made to keep you expecting something are done to prevent you from calling someone else.

I swore quiet a bit while explaining this.   But I seriously have little patience for people who waste my time.

And the customer service role is really just a poor woman who has to call Brad Hehn to ask what to do.

Brad declined to compensate me for my time.  Now I have to get an attorney and go to small claims court.

If you have had a similar experience or even other gouging or high pressure sales techniques, please contact me.  I would like to gather as many facts as possible to make sure this business takes responsibility.

Please email me. Nancy.Strickland@outlook dot com.

I will take your facts, find the business practices they use which can add up to serious consequences to the people who push these trashy tactics.

And anything that comes from it will go to repayment for what you were stuck with.

There is no need for a business to take advantage of or abuse the privilege they have to serve the community.

Things like this get to me.   And I will take action.  Email me with your facts.

Include the date of service, what the issue was, what A1 tried to sell or do, and what the final outcome and cost was.

Also, if A1 offered a discount, what was it?

We will have 3 other AC companies participate as experts in the business to prove A1 is using deceptive business/trade practices and any fraud we can prove.

Just send the facts to me.   I would like to get the case together and file something by September 2018.

Thank you,

Well the woman I spoke to who dispatched a repair person, to my mom's AC issue.
I was told 99$ is everything but the Freon which 19.00$. I was told 19.00$ then he could not check for a leak. It was too old and she needed needed a new 9000.$ I explained, my momma is 77 years, and we found out was living with no air in 105 to now 110 degrees. Just not be bate and awiched, I will NOT CALL to ask what to do

I just had my A/C system checked as part of our service contract. We have struggled with certain registers getting dirty at the opening. While I have asked previous technicians what the issue was without any specific advice, the technician that came out this time was an expert. His name is Mo. What a nice guy with a wealth of knowledge about the HVAC field.

He explained how the fins on the front of the register were too closed. He said that will impede the air flow and cause a backup of air in the airduct. That in turn allows a build up of dust and possibly moisture. By opening up the register fins the airflow in the house has increased by at least 50%.

That will certainly lower our cooling cost, reduce the strain on our unit, and help our air ducts to stay cleaner.

Thank you Mo, we appreciate it.

do not use this company. 2 weeks ago had them out 2 days in a row still not working. 3rd day could not get them to call back to actually tell me when they would come out. The first day they said the drain needed to be flushedso paid them for that, still no cold air that night second day came out for a minor electrical repair, Paid them for that and still no cold air. Day three after no commitment to come back out from them found another company to come out and got picture and video proof that the drain was never flushed. Paid second company again to do that everything's working great.  Have called and asked multiple times for management to call me back or a supervisor or owner not a single phone call other than the customer service rep who keeps saying she's going to reach out again to management. ask for a refund on at least the work that they did not do but charged us for and of course they can't refund it because we didn't give them a chance to fix the problem

1 heres why : I'm so disappointed after being a 10 year club member A1 has always done my seasonal checkups  and last Saturday A salesman and i repeat SALESMAN/TECH Norberto looked at my inside unit and saw trouble and heard noise right of the get go ! I told him this thats awful  funny because i had to get up and turn the heat down and it being right there by my bedroom I've never heard any troubleing sounds coming from the blower motor before , so with a surprising  look like a deer in the headlight look on his face so  then continues and goes into a spill of it saying it wont last long and WOULDN'T you know it within the next day and a half the blower motor mysteriously goes out ! He was so consumed on giving me all the plans that he could do  but they were only good thru the end of January and plus he kept bringing up the one with a free water heater . Yes I called and your salesman Taylor came out and repaired the price cut due to this happening to me it  normally being a $4,000 dollar blower motor for $1,100 . Really ?!!! A $350.00 part and yall had the gaul to charge me $1,100.00 !!!!! Please ! So whats done is done  and so is my business with your company . I will be sure to also let anyone and plenty others i come in contact NOT TO DO BUISNESS WITH A1 .

PSA: I will never use this company again. Their Technicians are commission based and will try to over sell you!!!

I am not one to write reviews often at all, however, this is important. Do not fall prey to dishonest sales people.

My wife and and I, who is 7 months pregnant, just moved into our new one a week ago and I was installing my Nest Thermostats. After I completed install, I noticed that the AC setting was also causing the heat pump to kick on. We called A#1 because they had previously come out late at night and we were in the same boat previously.

Our rep, Mike, came out and rewired the Nests so they would function properly and all seemed well. My wife asked him the condition of our system and he told us both units were shot and needed a full replacement before the summer at 14K!!!

He knew that we were new to he home and didn't have much info about the previous care of the units, knew he could rattle my pregnant wife, and took his chance to SCAM us. He informed me we were leaking Freon and once our coils on the units malfunctioned that the whole unit needed to be replaced. As a courtesy, he said he topped off the Freon in our system and left. We were now facing the prospect of new units in a home we just moved into.

I have since had 2 more A/C companies come out, Cool Guys A/C and The Colony A/C, and both have told me that there are currently no issues and no leaks to be found. They also told me that it was very unlikely my Freon was topped off.

I'm glad there are still honest companies out there, A #1 is definitely not on of them. Your technicians represent your company and what he did was very immoral.

Please do not make the same mistake we did and go with a company that pays their employees by the hour.

We needed a good electrician because we have had several bad ones. We called A1 and Zach Stinson came out. He was not a high pressure person but made good recommendations. He listened to what we wanted and didn't loose his patience when we made a last minute change. I would highly recommend Zach Stinson and A1.

We were called during the day to keep us informed when the technician would be coming. Once he was here he put on a mask and show covers to protect our floors. He listened to us describe the system and any problems that we have had. He then completed the inspection on both our units and gave us an official report. While they may be a little more expensive than other companies, I feel they are well worth it.

I went with them because they are big and have crews 24/7.  They have been OK, but what I don't like and the reason I will look for someone smaller is the following.

1) When they come for an inspection, they always find problems and multi $K solutions.
2) Can't answer why the crew 6 months ago didn't see the same problems - I am not talking about things that wear out
3) The guys who do inspections are sales & technical guys.  They are compensated to find problems
4) The inspectors state they will be back to do the job and make sure everything is done right, but A1 doesn't send them back unless you complain.  Someone else gets the job & work.

So upset with A#1 Air.  My husband and I had a central air unit installed by A#1 a couple of years ago for close to $9000.  A#1 Air has been very persistent on doing regular tune-ups and plus items typically have needed worked on from the start -which I am always surprised because it is a fairly new unit .  We did purchase a warranty so most has been covered  so we pay for the many visits.
A year ago our upstairs unit was not cooling in our daughter's room. We didn't want to pay the 6000 or 7000 dollar estimate from A#1 for our upstairs unit (we have a 1.5 story home) so we hired a licensed independent contractor to install a unit or whole system for half the price.  The system has been working completely fine and has for the past year.  A#1 Air came out very recently and did their inspection and then claimed several things were going to occur if we didn't fix our upstairs unit including extremely low freon.  Well, guess what (?!) , the very next day, all those things happened, pipes froze and there was a leak (everything they told us would happen ironically happened the very next day)The air quit blowing cold air attic floor is getting wet from the frozen pipes thawing plus the second guy that came out said it has to thaw and we will get a leak possibly in our ceiling below so of course, we very upset.  We got a call because I told them how upset and all this seemed suspicious.  They said, since I was upset, they would fix for $1500 instead of $3800! Well, we found out the valve on the freon was not tightened so was leaking.  The the original guy that installed the upstairs unit luckily fixed the unit for $120! I just am so unhappy for the stress this has caused and feel like there are very shady practices!!!!

Our AC stopped working on a 100 degree day. We realized it at 1am when I felt really hot and sweaty. We called a bunch of places that said they were 24 hours service but many did not get back to us. One place wanted $250 for an emergency call but could not even give us a ballpark estimate of when they could come out.

We called A #1 Air at about 2am. The answering service was quick and only wanted $99 to come out on an emergency call. They said they would be out at our place by 4am. The repair guy was here by 3:45 and out by 4:10am! Polite and efficient, we were very pleased!

Here's another review for Yelp. I had a very negative experience with A#1 Air. My HVAC system wasn't working. The price for them to come and take a look at your system is $59. Fair enough. When the person comes, he took a look, and said he'll charge $125 to fix this. I ask him what's wrong, he said he won't be able to tell me until he fixes it and charge me $125. I said well won't you at least tell me what's wrong?. He said no that's not how it works, you either pay and we fix it or I would have to guess what's wrong. I told him to close the panel, pay him $59 and he left. He forgot the phone on my attic, which he then came back and got it.  The problem was with the fuse, which would cost you a grand price of $5 at Home Depot. I would have even paid it if he said $50. Very dishonest business. There're better ones out there. Stay away.

Had a great experience with A#1 Air. I recently purchased a house and the HVAC system was making concerning noises so I called to get it checked out. The inspection was thorough and I made the decision to replace the unit. The crew showed up the next day and completed the install in a relatively short time. They took care to protect our flooring and left everything very clean after showing us all the features of the unit. I recommend this company very highly!

I could not recommend this company more. Jeff is the most knowledgeable plumber I've ever met. I've had probably 10 people look at the problem at my house, and Jeff diagnosed the problem quickly and provided a plan and a backup plan. He was very professional and provided me with updates throughout fixing the issue. The company called to let me know when the tech was on the way. The pricing was affordable. I will never call another company for any AC or plumbing related issues. Honest, transparent, knowledgeable, and affordable. Can't ask for anything more in a company. Thank you so much!

DO NOT USE A#1. Every other review about them coming to service AC and then the tech trying to tell you something else is wrong, usually quoting $1k+, has absolutely been my experience. Every 6 months someone has come and told me something is wrong, something really expensive to fix, but they couldn't tell me why the previous person didn't see it.

They are liars and rip off artist.

A/C without power, over 4 weeks ago, trying to save some money for fixing, took many phone calls to have someone out here. We all work, I asked if someone can come tomorrow early in the morning... sure we can arrange that, technician showed up around 10 am, off the back without offering a diagnosis and knowing the problem, just looked at the system outside and tried to sell me a brand new system both A/C and Heater. Ok, how much is that? Took way too long in going from his van back to me with 0ver $17,000 brand new system to sell. Now not just the a/c but the heater as well. The technician, very interested in my credit but not knowing if I could really afford it. Very frustrated, I explained I had to get ready for work around 12:30 pm, so immediately he turned rude and went TMI about he didn't know, if that was the case he should reschedule for another time... a proper diagnosis would've saved time for both customer and company, I got charged $59 for the most improper way of doing the diagnosis. Pretty much in his own words, if I was you I call the guy that installed the a/c fan or motor, cause there is no power. Again, this is a business tailored to meet company's quota which disregards customer service, and if they offer customer satisfaction I can only tell it is indeed a SCAM. Worst experience ever. Nothing got fixed, and never found out what the problem was.
DO NOT CONTACT THIS PEOPLE, keep looking.

We have a Daiken Unit that A-1 installed less than a year and a half ago.  It has been flawless since install. Ten days ago it was time for it's check-up. A technician arrived, and checked it from top to bottom and gave it a clean bill of health. He said everything looked good and all the readings were great.  A  few days later, the troubles began. It stopped cooling, and the temperature in the house hit 80 degrees. We are on tight schedules and opposite working shifts in our house so it took an additional day or two to contact them. We related to A-1 that we had a flawless unit prior to their tune-up...but that since service, it was no longer cooling. We told them that the service was 7 days prior.
A very polite technician finally arrived, after several hours waiting, at around 6pm...He spent over 4 and a half hours running tests and checking readings. He recharged the FREON and ran tests. He patched one leak in the air handler. (Plenum) While he got the temps down a few degrees, by that time it was almost 11pm. He was honest and said that he would need to contact a more senior DAIKEN tech to come out.  This was on Thursday and the temperatures were still averaging about 77-78 in the house. We heard absolutely nothing back from A-1.  Saturday afternoon, I recontacted them after work. They said that they would contact the tech and find out Where the disconnect occurred and that Someone will call you back.  It is now Sunday morning. I have not heard back from them and my problem is not resolved.
How does a system that previously worked so great and so reliably suddenly stop running efficiently after one of their Tune Ups ? Why do they have a 15+ thousand dollar system that not all their techs can service? Why can I not read one word on their last service receipt?
AND.....Why do they not follow up on issues after being informed of questionable maintenance or questionable customer service.

DO NOT use this business! The technician showed up on time and was very pleasant. Hi quickly diagnosed the problem as a condenser coil that was cracked and lost most of the Freon. He explained this freon was $95 a pound and we needed 10 to 11 pounds plus a new coil plus labor so we were looking at $3500+ for the repair. He thought a better option was to replace the 14 year old unit for about $10K which we could finance at 0%.

Well we called a second party who found the problem was a broken wire in a connector and replaced the wire harness, checked the rest of the system and told us the compressor fan probably won't last too much longer and charged $300.

BTW that individual can get us the same new A/C system the crooks at A#1 quoted for just under $6000

DO NOT CALL THESE CROOKS

Following up with their We want to make it right message is touching but the owners really seem to be indifferent and show no real interest in discussing their business. Instead they are hiding behind their Customer Service staff and won't speak directly to you. It has been three days since I reached out to talk with the owner and her response was to not respond to my personal email address.

Btw the funny rating from Mateo is the technician that diagnosed the completely dead unit with no Freon. The next technician from a competitor actually found and fixed the problem. The unit is still running fine now 5 months later.

We have used A#1 Air for the past several years.  Today we were having a new roof put on our home.  While nailing on the shingles, they hit our air-conditioning pipe and the vent for our hot water heater came loose.  Within 40 minutes, both repair technicians were at our home fixing our issues.  Thank you for your quick response.  Happy customer!

I had these guys out about a week ago and everything was great and they were very helpful. Today, I returned from being out of town to find standing water both sinks in the master bath. It had been slow draining, I assumed my long hair had clogged the drain so I was going to remove and clean the drain stopper.

When I got under the sink I noticed water was dripping into the cabinet from the sink. When I unscrewed the cap that attaches to the rod in the pipe water began to pour out. Luckily I had a bowl nearby to collect the draining water. I called A#1 air, feeling thankful they are 24/7 and was more hopeful they could help out.

The guy on the phone was very nice but said the soonest a tech could get out to my house was Tuesday. I explained the pipe was still actively dripping and he said that he understood but maybe I could go ahead and book for Tuesday and then hope someone else cancelled. I asked if there was any kind of emergency crew they had to get to people sooner and he told me that they did have a crew for emergencies but only if your house is flooding. I explained that since this was actively leaking it would be flooding by Tuesday we're i to wait that long. I even said I would take a midnight appointment to get this taken care of.  He said he would call a manager and get back to me.

He called back and informed me I would have to wait until Tuesday and we could schedule that now but then I could wait and hope there would be a cancellation to get them out to me sooner. So I asked him, I have to take off work tomorrow in hopes someone cancels but if they don't then I have to take off work again for Tuesday all the while the drain is still leaking. And he said yea. I said this is crazy, I can't wait 36-48 hours with a leaking sink and take off work in the hopes that maybe y'all can come by. He said ok so that ended the call.

I called a different 24/7 plumber and they are finishing a job now but on the way to me next. Today. Not in 2 days or maybe sometime tomorrow.

Don't advertise 24/7 like you can take care of a problem any time day or night if it's actually going to be 2 days. I get y'all are busy and this isn't ankle deep water but asking me to wait 2 days with it still leaking or take off work in hopes there's a cancellation isn't an ideal solution.

We have a new system with this company. They call and say they need to come for 1 year checkup. They then proceed to tune it up and then tell us after it's going to be $39 today. The guy tells us we caught it on special, it's usually $99. He then proceeds to sale us a service plan. He starts off telling us about $12/month then goes but if you pay the one year service agreement of $144, todays cost is waved. Then when my husband decides on what he is going to do, the shifty salesman says we have 3 levels, let me run the numbers for you. 35 minutes of listening to his bs, my husband gets frustrated and says he is just going to pay $39 and call back. 10 minutes later salesman is still explaining why we need the service plan. Then asks my husband if he is sure he is just going to do just $39 today and not one of the plans. What a waste of time!!

We have a VIP Membership with A#1 Air, costs about 700.00 a year, plus I just spent 15K on a new AC unit with them last month. We had a hot water heater burst, water everywhere.  Called A#1 and they could not send a tech over until the next day.  I called home advisors, got hooked up with Wilson Home Services.  Totally different experience, had a tech here in 40 minutes, problem solved. Want to see the difference in these two companies, check out their ratings on Yelp.  Wilson Home Services...4.5 stars, A#1 has 2.5.  I will never call A#1 again.  Great way to treat your VIP Members A#1, that 700.00 is only good to reduce the service call fee, it does not get you treated any different than any other person on the street who has not paid the 700.00.  It's a rip off, just like the company!

Do not do business here!  They have great sales people and do good installing new air conditioners. But after spending $34k they cannot bother to send a technician out. We have waited two days because the new units are not cooling the house down like the old units did. And all we get is a call every two hours saying that technicians are in the area and will call when they are 30 minutes out!  They cannot even give us an update on where we are in a queue!  Asked for a manger to call and nothing yet. Very disappointing.

I would rate them NO stars if I could. We use to be in their membership club where they come check the units 2 times s year. NO MORE! The tech this time said both our units were leaking, both need the coils replaced, and both fan motors and capacitors and hardstart needed to be replaced. All at the same time..... and both units! What's the chances of that! What a lucky day for the tech that receives commissions off the invoice! Never seen such a blatant fraud of stacking a repair invoice.  On top of it he also said we were down to 30% of our Freon. We had a different company come out to fill the Freon and they could only add A HALF a pound! STAY AWAY from this company

I had A#1 install a $17000 system in my house almost exactly 5 years ago.  To date, I have had something go bad/stop working on the system every year since.  And I just called them again as one of my units stopped cooling again, but the soonest the can get out to even look at it (and charge me to look at it) is 4 days away when we are in 95+ degree weather.  The last issue I had with one of my units i had to argue that the manufacturer part needed was indeed still under warranty (that took an additional 3 days to resolve).  I would be very cautious with A#1 as it appears to be all about the upsell and not about providing quality units that last.

THEY PRICE GOUGE!! Chase H told me my schrader valve was leaking. Had to replace before testing. Of course he busted it & ALL the freon blew out. (His tool broke). Then he placed 5 pounds of freon in. ( He said it holds 8). A $20 part & he charged $184.00! Then it stopped working. Not even 5 minutes after he left. He returns. Then claims it was the wring sized capacitor. A $30.00 capacitor & he charges $390.00!! He tried to get us to replace the fan motor. WE JUST DID BY OURSELVES JUST 3 hours earlier! It cost us $120.00! When my husband said he was going to take back the part & accuse the shop of giving us the WRING PART, Chase recanted & said nothing is wrong with the motor. Because he claimed IT was the wrong part, too! Was trying to charge us $690.00 fir the fan motor!!
The best part was he was trying to test the inside coils. He couldn't poke the duct work. He steps up & until the closet & 'after poking around' claims there's a leak!! (I bet he caused the leak!) Took some time before his machine screamed!!
Then said we needed to replace the unit. A Carrier 3 ton was $10,000.00! I got quotes from 4 other places!! REPLACING BOTH MY CARRIERS, was $10,500 to $11,000.00!!!!

STAY AWAY FROM A1AIR!! SERIOUS PRICE GOUGING!!!'n

LITERALLY almost killed my son!

Yesterday, Thursday, August 17th 2017, I called your company A#1 Air because both of my AC units stopped working. A technician named Mike came out that evening and looked at both units. He told us that we would have to replace a fan motor in one of our units and that the other unit's compressor needed to be replaced, but he ultimately recommended a full system replacement for the second unit because the price difference was so narrow. He claimed that the Carrier brand compressor, which is only 4 1/2 years old, wasn't under factory warranty. He claimed the registration was never even done, mentioned that the home builder must have not chosen to register the warranty so we weren't covered. To replace the fan motor with a universal fan, we were quoted $523. He then tells us that to replace the compressor in the second unit would be $2950. Then he says if we wanted to, he could replace the entire outdoor system for the second unit for anywhere between $3200-$3800.
It was close to 8 PM when he comes in and tells us that there was reversed polarization in the fan and that since the fan can only be wired one direction, we would have to replace the fan. Then he tells us that he happens to have a universal fan in his truck and that he can replace that fan that night for $523 and that we would have at least one unit working so we wouldn't be without air conditioning that night.
With the exorbitant amount of the total quote, we decide to hold off until we can get in touch with our insurance company.
We make arrangements to call Mike the next day once we've heard from our adjustor.
He tells us we owe $247, which is not the original $59 for diagnostic services. It seems he replaced an A 1 Air Repair Level 1 blower cap and that it would be an additional $188. He did this without our express permission.
He then proceeds to tell us that he needs us to call him as soon as we can to set up the fan repair asap.
Around three in the morning on Friday, we were woken up by our 8 year old moaning. Immediately he stumbles to the ground and vomits everything in his stomach. I pick him up and force him into a cool bath, and we start dousing him over and over. I take his temperature and it reads 103 degrees. I keep covering him with water over and over.
Later that morning, we decide we're uncomfortable with the quote and wanted to get a second opinion and that we would ring him back later.
At 11:29 am, Mike calls me and asks if we're ready to move forward with at least replacing  the first unit's fan. He pushes for a hard sale, but I don't budge. After I say no, he says, You're the exact opposite of most of my customers. Usually by now they're just ready to get their air turned back on. This struck me as a really odd thing to say.
Around 2pm, the second repairman we called for a second opinion shows up. We tell him what Mike has told us and that we want to confirm what Mike has assessed. The new technician takes us outside with him and inspects the unit. He's stumped because the unit with the broken compressor is missing it's start capacitor. He has to call Carrier with the model number to get the exact type of start capacitor needed to test the unit. Then the new technician looks at the second unit and discovers that two wires have been switched and that the fan that Mike told us could only go one direction has purposely switched so that the fan blows down instead of up. There is undeniable proof that Mike switched these wires. The fan had never blown down before. Mike is the only technician to have ever worked on any of our units up until that point and there we had direct proof that the wires were switched by Mike. I asked the new technician if he thought it was done on purpose. He said he believed that it had been because even a novice technician would have caught that mistake, so either Mike was so new at his job that he didn't even go to school or he purposely switched the wires.
The new technician bent, switched the wires, and the unit magically started working. The fan was blowing in the correct direction!
THIS MEANS THAT MY CHILDREN SUFFERED THROUGOUT THE NIGHT, THAT MY SON CAME CLOSE TO HEAT STROKE, THAT HE VOMITED, THAT MY TWO YOUNGEST CHILDREN SUFFERED FEVERS ALL BECAUSE MIKE WANTED TO GET AN ILL GAINED $523 FOR YOUR COMPANY.
Needless to say we were shocked and appalled. The new technician then told us that he called Carrier and that our 4 and a 1/2 year old compressor was INDEED covered by the warranty and that all we would have to cover is a few expenses and labor to get it replaced.

Basically, your company tried to get $4323 out of us dishonestly.

I confronted Mike by text (see attached) and he offered to bring back the start capacitor, though he claims it was broken.

Probably one of the most disgusting and dishonest companies I've ever encountered. Reading the other one star reviews, I now understand that this is common practice for this company's techs.

Good morning,
I'm having some issue with the follow-up on service with your organization.

First it's a YORK system - Electric, w/ Heat Pump.

Allow me to outline the events:

a few months ago, somewhere around the holidays or so we had a few cold spells, your company diagnosed a bad blower-motor and the Chip.
The blower-motor wouldn't come on fully. They replaced it and the Chip, according to the tech. Things started working again, but I did notice that the temperature setting did NOT keep
up with the Thermometer. This should have CLUED your tech to check the relays on the heat-pump, because the system would go into AUX heating mode.

so a couple of months past... you know how Texas weather is... just wait till tomorrow it will change. Recently it's been in the 40's (cold and rainy)
I called ANOTHER tech out from your company, he says that I have bad relays on the Heat-Pump and the PREVIOUS tech should have picked-up on this and that it looked like the relays were disconnected.

THE MOST RECENT TECH SAID HE WOULD CHECK BACK AT THE OFFICE FOR THE RELAYS, I NEVER HEARD BACK FROM HIM.
I'M WORKING FROM HOME THURSDAY FEBRUARY 13TH. I WANT TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT THEN TO HAVE A TECH COME BACK OUT FOR A 3RD TIME NOW TO GET IT ALL CORRECTED.
HERE'S A CURRENT EXAMPLE: THERE'S ALWAYS A 6 DEGREE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE SETTING AND THE THERMOMETER, ESPECIALLY ON THOSE REALLY COLD DAYS.
The tech said that heat-pump and the main furnace aren't keeping up with each other. This causes my heating bill to jump up as well
I NEED THESE PROBLEMS CORRECTED ONCE AND FOR ALL AND NEED A TECH BACK OUT HERE ON THURSDAY 2/13/2020, Preferably morning.

Cell 682-521-3570 Call or TEXT
Leonard Williams, ASAP thank you.

We have regretted using this company since our air conditioner was installed. We have unscheduled service on our unit multiple times throughout the year because our house will not cool below 75 degrees in the summer. On our most recent call, the technician told us that our vents from the unit into the house had been cut by another A#1 Air technician during servicing and were not fixed/ replaced. We have basically been air conditioning our attic this year thanks to an incompetent worker. Could not be more disappointed in the quality of service and lack of knowledge from the employees who have been to our home to service our unit. Thankfully someone finally showed up who knew what he was doing, but this went on for way too long. Do not use this company.

We have used A#1 Air for several different types of service and have always been happy. They do good work. The most recent was for a plumber to replace 3 toilets in our home. I called to schedule and was told they have a $39 service call. When the plumbers arrived they told me it's $385 per toilet! Big difference! Not the plumbers fault but the scheduler should have said they have additional charges in addition to the service call!

I felt compelled to give 5 stars but we all know nobody is perfect. I have been using A#1 for 5 years the A/C system we bought has worked as promised.
I joined the service club and the periodic checks are great. The company calls you to set up the appointments the techs are always courteous and professional.
We had a breakdown during summer the part that wore out was manufacturers defect not installation issue and the whole thing was remedied quickly and only cost me $20. I will likely never use any other company for my HVAC needs.

Prompt service, humble people, fair company, and it hasn't broken the bank.

Andy came by to fix a leak we had, discovered some other issues and resolved those. He was great and very informative.

Andy said to call if we were still having leaking issues, which we noticed we did still have leaking after he left. The next available technician, Juan, came over asap to follow up. He said he had called Andy prior to get the details and he resolved the issue we were having free of charge.

The technician came over to diagnose the problem. He explained that my ac was a lost cause and I needed a new one. The technician Quincy told me he could quote me for a new unit and it would be 0% no interest financing. He quoted me for 8k for a new unit. He also had me pay the 59 dollars for the visit which was only 4 minutes.

I decided to get a 2nd opinion and right away the new business I hired  stated the ac could be repaired. He fixed my ac for 500 dollars rather than the 8k for a new unit.

Run away from using this company. I rarely write reviews but I feel like the public needs to be aware of the scam this company is trying to play.

Had such great hopes.....

04-22-19: (Left 1 star review) Had A#1 Air install a new Rheem Heap Pump system in my home March 2018. Everything was professional top to bottom. However that is when everything goes wrong. At the 1-year mark they schedule a 1-year check-up with me. The young guy Andrew comes out. He arrives, is in the attic for 6 minutes, then goes to the outside unit for 23 seconds (all on security camera), then goes and sits in the van for 15 minutes and comes to let me know everything is great and takes my payment. I call after he left and told them this was not a full tune-up, they agree and schedule a new, no cost, date with me. On that date they call to tell me with so many emergencies they need to reschedule me. Today, Brian comes out and performs a new tune-up. He spends the amount of time I would think for a new unit check. Though I have never seen anyone perform an annual where they do not wash the coils outside. He comes back telling me there is a refrigerant line leak that will cost me $1,100. I asked how that was not a warranty item and he states the line was existing and they did not replace it when the new unit was installed. I asked to see where the leak was and he shows me (with the leak detector tool) that it is leaking where the line is soldered into the new unit in the attic. Not to me, that is they solder work to connect the line, but he argues it is not covered and would be $1,100. This will be the end of my relationship with this company. That is definitely their work and they don't stand behind their work.

Update 04-23-19: (Updating from 1 star to 3 stars) A#1 did come back out today. They agree with me that where the refrigerant leak is occurring is part of their lifetime workmanship on the installation of the unit and repaired it at no charge. The system was low on coolant and that was rectified as well. I appreciate A#1 standing behind their work, but still have questions on why the technician yesterday wanted to argue it was an $1,100 repair and not covered under workmanship. Because of the effort I have had to put into this only increasing to 3 stars.

Update:  I couldn't make this up if I tried...William did keep his word and have someone reach out over the weekend.  We played phone tag and I called the company back today.  They asked for my address and then transferred me to a dept to set up install of the part they ordered.  I literally asked Are you kidding? Is this a joke?  He was like no.  Then asked about setting up a date for the team to come out and get me taken care of.  This poor young man, Justin, had no idea of my experience so this tells me that A#1 never canceled my order, never followed back up with the team member I am complaining of and was still trying to get my business after ripping me off.  It would be a comedy of errors but for the fact they tried to charge me for thousands of dollars of work I didn't need.  I would give zeros stars if I could!

I had a seasonal scheduled AC check with A#1 air.  There was nothing wrong with my system and seemed to be working okay so I thought this was going to a quick visit.  During the check they found I had a leak with freon in my system and asked if I wanted to have them do a search for it.  I said yes.  When they did the search, let told me that I had a leak in my evaporator coil and I needed to get it replaced. Due to the leak, it was causing ice to build up on my outside AC unit tubes.  The cost would be $1830 or $3400 which depended on if my HVAC was still under warranty.  After the tech left, my HVAC system was making a lot of noise it wasn't making before he arrived.  2 days later I had another tech check out my HVAC to get an estimate and he informed me that there was nothing wrong with my coils.  He said everything was working perfectly.  As for the ice outside, he informed me that someone unplugged a wire upstair which caused the loud noise and the icing on my outside unit.  I asked if this was possible to be missed and he informed me that someone was either very sneaky when they gave me my estimate or not qualified to do this type of work.  When I talked to other companies, the feedback was consistent with A#1 Air. They are scam artists.  From my experience, I filed a complaint with the BBB and I also filed a formal complaint with their licensing board.  They shouldn't be taking advantage of people like this.

I purchased an $8000 system the sales person told me on Thursday that the crew would arrive first thing Monday morning at 8 AM
the crew arrived at 1:30 PM after an hour that crew left because of a medical emergency the next crew stayed until 730 told my friend that they were done my friend has post concussion syndrome and cannot handle a hot home five minutes after they left power to the unit went out. I called customer service chandra told me the crew said ran them of.. absurd ive a security cam observed everything
Incidentally i observed one tech looking at items in my living room and later walked in my den and was looking at things; snooping around in a home is not part of any ac install imho

I get all phone calls pertaining to my mother's A/C install they did. I non stop get calls because they can't keep a appointment to do the 1 yr check on the system. I've asked and told them to call my mother's phone and put it as primary but they can't even do that. Just a plain lack of customer service.

I have come to depend on A#1 Air. The technician, Mr. West is honest, diligent and really works as my advocate. I appreciate him respect the A#1 has my back in taking care of my AC. It's not just about cooling and heating the house, but being mindful of my energy usage and my family's health. They identified an issue with my air quality and found an effective and economical way to fix the problem. We are all now breathing better because of them. I absolutely endorse them. I'm am a fan!

I have used these folks before on air conditioning.  They did good!  First time to call them for electrical.  WOW, was I shocked.  To install one circuit with 2 outlets was 1,000 dollars!  OH my.  I am a retired electrician and NEVER did I except this kinda of cost.  Parts:
Wire (250ft 12/2)      $58.74
20amp breaker         $44.00     (GFCI)
2 outlets                    $31.00     (1 GFI and 1 Reg)  (With breaker did not need to be GFI)
Total parts                $133.74
So that means labor is about $850 dollars for about 300+ per hour.  WOW, am I hiring an electrician or a lawyer?  Will not call them back for any work again!

If I could give no stars I would. Scheduled me a month out from the date that I called to make the appointment- only to be cancelled on the day of the appointment. Mind you - they did not call us - we had to call them to find out what was going on. Okay , you got busy - no big deal. So we agree to push our appointment out another two weeks and give them another shot. Guess what?! They cancelled again! I would avoid using these folks. That is of course unless you don't value your time. The one star is for the nice folks on the other end of the phone. The woman helping me today was kind, patient, and professional. Customer service is difficult because you are typically dealing with upset customers. Unfortunately I need my system serviced and I cannot wait any longer.

A#1 is unprofessional. They treat senior citizens horribly. The tech, after being 1 hr. late tried to shove a $14,000 contract down a senior citizens throat. The tech upset the senior citizen who just lost his wife of 65 years. The homeowner asked me to help with getting a inspection on the existing unit and a estimate to replace it. None of which was done. I called to complain to customer service,I was promised a return call the next day to no avail. I was forced to call myself,in which I was told the original inspection fee was $59.00 to $250.00. A#1 is horrible with customer service and their so called customer service rep (Lesley) was inconsiderate, unprofessional and rude. This company has to use unscrupulous sales tactic to pay for their high end marketing costs. I will be leaving a scathing review with the BBB as well. Do not use A#1.

Andy V from A #1 Air came to my rental townhome and had problem diagnosed and fixed Quickly. I've used this company many times and will not use any other.
Used A#1 again 8/17 and once again very thorough, good communication on diagnostics and pricing. Interested in best value for $ for customer, very hardworking crew, and very pleasant and professional. I've used A#1 on my home and rental property 5-6x in last 3-4 yrs and have always been satisfied with their work. Mark and Devor worked nonstop to fix all my issues. Appreciate their hard work.

So ridiculously disappointed! We just paid 7k for a BRAND NEW HVAC system to put in our house we are selling and moving out of in two weeks. At 10 days old the motor stops working. We call at 4pm, it takes them 6 hours to let us know they'd be coming out to our house. It's 10:30 pm, 85 degrees in our house and our four year old can't sleep because it's hot. The technician that the dispatcher said would be here 30 minutes ago finally shows up. In good faith we stay in hopes they'll be able to diagnose the problem and fix it quickly so I put my four year old to bed. It's the motor, they don't carry that part on the truck. WHAT! Seriously? Ok, order it we'll be out first thing in the morning.
10am rolls around we haven't heard a peep. We call them, again, and they say the part should be in between 3-5pm. Were hopeful. It's 6pm and WE HAVE TO CALL THEM AGAIN. Yes, they have the part but their guy is out on an extensive job seriously? They promise he'll be out tonight. AT MIDNIGHT he finally shows up with THE WRONG PART. We are now two days into no A/C in 85 degree weather with a four year old. He says he'll go check in the shop to see if they have the right part. The shop is 20 minutes away and says he'll call us in 30. AN HOUR LATER (1am) WE HAVE TO CALL HIM. They don't have it, they say they already ordered it and they'll be out sometime today. Thank you very much. Don't waste your time. After they get your money you're useless to them.

This is the best company for HVAC that I've done business with in the metroplex, and I've worked with at least 3 others since I moved here 17 years ago.  They are honest, knowledgeable, lightning-fast responsive and have very competitive pricing.  I've had both my indoor units replaced with them many years ago and they just installed a new full downstairs unit yesterday.

Vickie Barnett was my Comfort Advisor.  I can't say enough good things about her.  Last year I called for a quote during a rainstorm and she came out same day, during the storm.  Amazing!! She is so thorough in explaining the technical details and the pros and cons of any given facet of the HVAC system.  She provides recommendations that are easily understood.  I trusted her right away and felt at ease that she was not going to try to sell me but rather guide me in the right direction based on my specific situation (square footage, temperature preferences, filter/cleaning preferences, etc.)   I waited 6 months or so before getting the new system.  I had a Freon leak and wanted to get the last bit of use out of the old machine, but finally got the new one installed yesterday with Vickie to guide me every step of the way. When I need the upstairs unit replaced eventually, I'll be calling Vickie for help.  It's fantastic having an automatic go to person and company for something so important in Dallas as air conditioning.

One other thing I love about A#1 Air is that it is a 24/7 business, and they handle their business that way.  There are some HVAC and Plumbing companies that pretty much work it as a 9 to 5.  That's not going to work for me when I have a water leak or my HVAC is inoperable during an outside temp of 100 degrees.  What a relief knowing I can count on them whenever I need them.  That's another reason why I've grown to be a loyal customer.

The technician was clueless of the manufacturer of my unit, he never took the cover to check or troubleshoot the diagnostics of the codes and proceeded to claim he could not make any repairs because he was unable to get his gauges on the valve stem. His conclusion was to replace the outside unit after speaking on his phone the whole time to his home office. After letting him know my unit was less than 3yrs old and under warranty he insisted that 10 lbs of freon and labor charges would still be applied. Out the door he went!!
Definitely NOT recommend!!

10/27/2020 - I couldn't reach my usual HVAC guy that I absolutely trust and have been using for 20 years, so I requested an appointment on the A#1Air website for someone to tune up my elderly mother's heater as there was a $39 special advertised and she was without heat during the cold snap that week. She was also concerned that the heater could have been damaged during a recent roof replacement and didn't want to turn the heater on until it was checked out. They couldn't come out until 10/30 which is strange since they are open 24/7.

10/30/2020 - Technician came out around 11. She said he was very nice and professional. He told her that she absolutely shouldn't turn the heater on for any reason because it was completely rusted out. He didn't try to high pressure sell her on anything, but told her to call him back if she decided to put in a new system. She was impressed by him and called back for an estimate on a new system. She was quoted $8300-9400 to install a new system, but he didn't give her a brand name or any specs other than warranty info. I'm sure the technician from A#1Air was quoting their premium system, but that would be too much for her old house. I found that to be a little questionable. I will say, he's good. He saw a little old lady that he thought he could manipulate using the panic factor so he didn't HAVE to try and pressure sell, but what he didn't realize was that I handle all of the big financial decisions and I don't fall for that kind of tactic. I always get several opinions and do my own research before making a final decision.

10/31/20 - I was finally able to reach my usual technician. He went over to check it out the same day, and amazingly, he said there was no rust because it was aluminum and wouldn't rust out. Within 20 minutes of his arrival, she had heat. He also told her that the heater was fine, but when it's time to turn the AC back on, that would likely start giving her problems. I was already aware of that because we had discussed it earlier this year when he replaced the outdoor fan motor. He also quoted $3500 to replace her HVAC system with the minimum requirements I gave him. That's a pretty significant difference.

Don't try to take advantage of the elderly. It's dishonest and immoral.

I called on a Monday because my 14 year old HVAC system had been failing over the weekend.  They send someone out on Tuesday and we signed the contract to have the new system installed on Friday morning.  AT 9:15 Friday morning they called to say the crew was not on the way because they had called in sick.  I explained to them my husband had taken the day off of work to be there for the installation because I had a doctors appointment I had waited months to get.  They then offered me $200 off my $10,000 system to change the install to Saturday and then I would be first priority, so if someone called in sick my installation would not be cancelled (so I guess that would put someone else scheduled for that date in my position on Friday).  I told them I would have to think about it because if I am not a priority when I am spending $10,000 with the company, when exactly would I be a priority?

I called Comfort Experts and they said they would have someone at my house at noon.  While they were at my house A#1 Air called and said so do you want the Saturday install or are you just going to cancel?   I told them I would just cancel because they did not seem to care one way or the other, the response was please keep us in mind for your future needs   I asked for a manager to call me regarding what happened and he did and offered to compensate me to take the Saturday schedule.  I advised him I went with another company.  I was even more pissed when the AC completely quit Friday afternoon.  I understand people get sick from time  to time, but the manager told me he had 2 crews call in sick that day, I would think you would have people on call and be willing to pay them overtime to satisfy potential customers. No thanks.

The ONE STAR reviews are REAL!  Reading through them and I see our exact experience.  We bought a unit from them a long time ago when James came to look at the system.  Loved the attention to detail customer service.  So when we moved, eventually we needed a new AC unit.  We immediately only thought of A#1 Air due to our previous experience.  They sold us a crappy Amana AC that stopped working within a week and no one could figure out why.  We spent several days without AC.  Guaranteed right Day or Night is just words.  They eventually took a part out of our expensive AC unit that took away features we paid for.  This has been a few years now.  The AC still runs, but to this day still feel ripped off.  But I see they are still up to their shenanigans.   Believe the ONE STAR REVIEWS!  They are accurate.  A#1 Air has gotten too big and they don't really care, because they keep raking in the money because they got the advertising down.  I want to vomit every time I see a commercial or a van.

The AC tech came out to my hours within an hour of calling the main A1 Air number, which was AWESOME! The tech got my AC working again, which stopped due due to gunk being built up in a waste line. The tech said the waste line needs to be blown out to correct the problem. I was really hesitant about the tech blowing out the line since it seemed so easy to repair, but my wife was adamant that we had A1 Air do the job. Within 30 seconds of blown forced air down a already cleared PVC pipe, we were charged $188. The tech said Oh, it looks like this will be an easy one! Next time A1 Air recommends a extra servicing, i'll only ever say no and will do it myself. It takes me over 2 days of work to pay for a service that took 30 seconds!!!!

Never again.

The better we've experienced is Bill Joplin's company.

We've used A#1 unwittingly since 2010. We have regrets. First, their techs are nice, clean, and portray knowledge. These attributes are essential in sales, not so much in resolution. In July our A/C unit wasn't cooling our home. We called them out to inspect. We replaced the part they stated needed replacement and they filled it up with coolant. In August, the A/C unit started kicking out warm air again. They sent out a different tech. That tech stated that there may be a leak somewhere in the unit. He said he reached out to the previous tech from July said that tech stated he couldn't fill up the coolant completely because of the day's weather conditions. The current tech filled it up for us without charging us. So, we paid for it to be filled up and had we NOT called in August, we wouldn't of known that we didn't get what we paid for initially. I find this bothersome. It's a cheat.

Their prices to replace the coil and the unit were ridiculous. I started thinking about their fancy vans and cars I've seen on DFW roads and highways. I also started thinking about their commercials I see every hour on local channels. Then I started thinking about how I was ripped off on the coolant. We decided to try out Jaric and Joplin. I've reviewed both of them on here. Joplin is our company now. I don't recommend A#1 Air.

My experience: I called for A/C repair on Sunday.  Upstairs air was not working.  Technician came and looked in attic for approximately 30 seconds and then looked at compressor outside.  I did not see him use any tools, take any pressures or measure the voltage. He told me a coil was leaking.  As a result, he said I needed a new compressor (I recall him telling me that the cost would be in excess of $11,000 to 12,000. In a subsequent phone call, he told me the cost would be approx $6,000 to $11,000 depending on what exactly I wanted and whether I would replace the whole system).  I asked him for alternatives to replacing compressor. He said he could not repair the leak in the coil but could replace it.  He gave me a quote of approx $3,000 and asked me whether I really wanted to spend the $3,000 when I would probably end up replacing the compressor (wasn't sure if I would need to replace next week, next month, or next year even after he replaced the coil). A#1 Air tech also told me that unless I replaced the compressor unit (or at least the coil) I would not be able to have cool air. I told him I was going to get another quote.

I called another A/C service on Monday. He came out within two hours and spent a considerable amount of time in attic and then took the time to look inside the compressor outside. He said I had no voltage to the compressor and went to the fuse disconnect box and told me that someone had turned the disconnect handle upside down. With the disconnect handle turned upside down, the compressor would never turn on. (So, of course, I would not get any cold air [much less any air] without any voltage, just as the up-selling A#1 Air tech told me). The only person I saw at the fuse box outside was the A#1 technician and I saw him pull out the disconnect handle; I just didn't know that he replaced it upside down.

In any event, after about 30 minutes of work, the new A/C technician said he was finished and the system is working great. He gave me his final bill - it was $170.00. He said the compressor needed to be washed and that he had to replace the run capacitor.  I asked him if there was a coil leak or whether system had low Freon.  He said the pressure was perfect and I had plenty of Freon, meaning there was no coil leak.

Despite what A#1 Air tech said about not having cold air unless I replaced the unit or coil, my air has been working great for the last week with a very minor repair.

UPDATE: To Sherry (identified as business owner): I am not sure how you can respond that this is not the norm.  I lost track of the number of reviews I read on Yelp by people who felt as scammed as I did.  I only wish I had read the reviews before contacting your company and wasting my time.  I am grateful that I called a more reputable company. In my opinion, you Compnay is engaging in deceptive trade practices, among other shady business tactics.  Just curious, are your AC techs paid on commission for what they sell?  If so, this may very well be the problem with your business model.

Also, I will be filing a formal complaint with the Texas Licensing Board.

After some plumbing work was completed on our house, I called to have the A/C unit checked on.  I felt the pipe work was too close to the A/C unit and wanted to confirm the unit was still in good working order.  I called to schedule a check up.  The woman I spoke to did not care about why I wanted to schedule the check up and scheduled the appointment.  The day before the appnt. I was called in the middle of the day to be offered a whole house energy inspection..  I was not interested in this service and declined.  The day of the appnt. I was contacted and advised a later appnt time was needed.  I was then called by the tech and told he was in the area and could do it earlier.  When they arrived, I was on a phone appnt, thinking the tech would arrive 2 hours later.  They proceeded to push past my wife and explain that they had to inspect the HVAC unit in the attic  This is not why I called but could not protest as I was occupied at the time of the arrival.. I was not happy with this part at all.. I did not ask for this service and although it may be part of their whole service it was not what I needed.  They proceeded to make a noise and tell me my HVAC unit was fine and then went outside to inspect the A/C unit.  As anticipated the A/C had been moved at little and required some sealant around where the wires come into the house..  The tech never asked why I called or if I was looking for something specific to be looked at or for.  The tech then went into some technical lingo rant that I didn't understand. But didn't push past the additional sealant work needing to be done.  In the end I do not think I will be calling this company back for service.  NOBODY LISTENS

My AC went out on a Friday afternoon.  Called A#1 Air and they said they'd come out in a couple of hours.  By 7pm, hadn't heard from anyone.  Called again and they said they were running late but would come out that evening.  Nothing.  Called again, and they said they would still be out, no matter how late.  They called me back after 1:30AM to tell me it would be Saturday morning.  They strung me along all day Saturday, finally calling me after 10:00pm Sat night telling me it would now be Monday before they could come out.

I told them not to bother.  I called a competitor on Sunday morning and they were here by noon.

I'll never recommend A#1 Air to any family or friends.

A#1 Air installed our AC (inside and outside units), and furnace a couple years ago. As others have mentioned, they are not your lowest price option and may even be at the upper end for price. BUT, you do get what you pay for. The sales person who came out very patiently answered all my questions (and I had many). Based on my home, family, requests etc he recommended a unit for us. He was very professional. The crew was on time, courteous and professional also. They performed the installation according to my request and left the area very clean.
Now, after several years of ownership is where they really set themselves apart. Twice a year (spring and fall) they proactively call me for a preseason tuneup and checkup. They usually have some kind of special going and offer that. I know it's probably not mandatory but just to have the peace of mind that all is working correctly for less than a typical service call is greatly appreciated.

This past Friday night of the Labor Day weekend we came home from an extended trip to find the house at an uncomfortable 80 degrees. It was late at night and A#1 was the only company I could get to come out right then and for just $59! Wow!
That's where the good story ends. Either the tech they sent (who confirmed he had been with A#1 for 7 years) was having a very bad night or he was only interested in replacing my unit. After several attempts at kick-starting the compressor - and failing to do so - he pronounced my A/C as D.O.A. and he could have a new a/c installed first thing Saturday morning. I said I needed a 2nd opinion and was severely disappointed I would have no cool air that night.
The next morning the other company I called (who had perfect 5 star rating reviews) sent their tech and he immediately kick started my dead compressor for the low side. The lines outside immediately began to freeze up which meant the inside blower fan wasn't coming on. That was the problem - a blower fan in the attic unit. The 2nd company saved me over $18,000! Get a second opinion folks!

I strongly suggest you NEVER call this company. Ever.

Our a/c rent out in August when it was over 100 degrees. The technician seemed very sincere, but was pushing very hard for us to replace our entire unit to the tune of $10K. Insisted we had a large leak that was unrepairable. He made a big show about how the leak was so large he was unable to charge the Freon to give us some relief for a couple days until the unit was replaced. He told me my unit was so fried he couldn't even get it to start up again. Something didn't seem right, so I had three other technicians come out to give us their opinion.  The first one came out and got the unit started in two minutes. Showed me the switch that tripped on the unit that shuts it off when the unit overheats. All three gave a similar diagnosis as to why it overheated and had similar estimates to get me back up and running - around $700. All three confirmed that the switch is common knowledge.

I called A#1 Air customer service, and asked for an explanation. I told them I would give them a chance to respond before I post a negative review, but I wanted the service manager to call me back. I never got a call, and the technician who seemed so concerned for us of course dropped off the radar when I told him we were postponing the appointment to replace my unit until I got another opinion. I don't know if A#1 Air trains their people to take advantage of customers, and fake problems that don't exist, or the technician did it on his own. Regardless, A#1 had a chance to at least try to make it right, and they didn't even make an attempt.

RUN from A#1.

I have to tell everyone please search around for a private company and be patient. Get a window unit and look around. A_1 was very dishonest. Our guy said he sees this all the time big companies ripping people off. We were charged a $59 service call. Which is fine they offered to return it. Just thank god we didn't pay them $4,000 to fix the problem. We paid Keith $145.00 it was two wires just came loose. They told us we needed all these parts a new motor blahhh blahhh maybe put a bandaid on it for 2,000 new unit for 8,000 I definitely won't use them for a new unit. We both work very hard for our money just middle class. Not sure how people sleep taking advantage of people. Private message me and I'll give you the number of Keith he was super honest and reasonable.

Guys, don't repeat my mistake: I saw the crappy yelp reviews, and thought, Eh, i just need a little a.c. tuneup. How could they mess that up? and called A#1 anyway. So their tech arrives, checks out our system and tells me my unit (which is less than five years old) is on its last legs, and recommends $4200 in repairs. (!!!) That insane amount can be explained by this conversation:

Me: Could you install a nest thermostat?
Tech: sure. It'll be $292. Should only take me 10 minutes.
Me: wow. I wish i made $292 in ten minutes
Tech: Oh, i don't see any of that; I work on commission.

Gee, never would have guessed. So basically I paid $99 to get the hard sell. Be ye not so stupid! The company I called next (whose employees do not work on commission btw) came out and showed me photo evidence that several of the problems the A#1 tech had told me about were complete fabrications. Plus they installed the nest for just $85.

Be warned, consumers!  Technicians employed by this organization are paid on commissions to upsell you with services or even new equipment that you may not (and probably don't) need.  I experienced this first-hand, and it was not a pleasant experience.  Their tactics are, at the very least, deceptive.  Whatever you do, get a second opinion!

A#1 Air installed a new 3 ton system for us yesterday. Hottest day of the year to date. 103 outside and much hotter in our 3rd story attic where the inside equipment was located. Jose and Teo arrived on time and did an excellent job on the installation and everything was up and running by late afternoon. I am very picky and pay great attention to detail down to how the wires were secured and ductwork sealed. These guys did an outstanding job under very challenging heat conditions. I have another unit to replace soon and A#1 Air will get that business too if they send Jose and Teo back. Thanks for the great job!!

Scam!!!  My A/C was working but it was blowing warm air, so I decided to reach out to A#1 Air.

The technician was friendly but as soon as he diagnosed my issue and gave me my options, I knew something was not right.  At first, he told me the compressor was out and told me it would cost $3,500 to replace.  He then told me that I probably should just replace my whole unit, which would cost between $3,500-$5,500.

When I told him I plan on getting a second and third opinion, he THEN told me - wait, I forgot... there's a third option.  I can only charge you $650 to fix the Capacitor and revive the Compressor and it MAY work.  I still told him no.

Long story short, I ended up doing quite a bit of research and fixed it myself and now my A/C is working just fine, it was just an issue with the Capacitor.  You can't seem to trust this company.

AC went out on a Saturday.  As I have always done with any AC issues, I called A#1 air.  They came out quickly (within a few hours), diagnosed the problem, how much it would cost, and then informed me that they were not doing repairs because they were short staffed.  Thinking that is surely not what he meant, I asked if he was available to come back the following day or whatever the next available day was.  His response was no, they don't do AC repairs right now.  This is coming from an AC repair company?!  I called someone else who was local owner/operator that came out within an hour, diagnosed the problem, and fixed the issue at half the price A#1 air quoted.  I even called their office after the fact to explain what happened, and couldn't get them to answer the question Do you do AC repairs or not?.  With that type of attitude and service from A#1, never again.

I am getting a little concerned, I am having A#1 Air install two full units in my house this weekend due to unit failures. The tech cam and spoke with my wife since i was out of the country and had my hands tied. Its 95 degrees and we have a 10mo old at home. We got approved for the financing and we ended up getting 2 new units, both Lennox, one 3 ton and one 4 ton 14seer units. The total package came out to be $19k. Seems really steep considering as i did some research online those units installed are respectively $4500-$6500 installed according ro all the reviews online nationwide.... Im starting to think we got the wool pulled over our eyes in a time of need and desperation??? Just be careful out there, this is an extreme bummer.....? This is serious money we are talking about! Shame on them!

We moved to DFW in 2015 and needed heat pump serviced in 2017. We called A#1 because of reviews we'd seen and got a great deal on a new system with warranty from them. Since then they're our only call for all HVAC maintenance and plumbing issues. They are always very friendly and efficient when we call and are quick to respond with great service. And their guys take the time to do each job right and are always willing to answer questions. Highly recommend!

I don't usually write reviews, and if I do, usually it's because I had a positive experience.

However, I feel I must let others know to PLEASE not take everything this company says at face value. I am 9 months pregnant. Our A/C in our home hasn't worked in a week (and it's been humid and hot...Spring in Texas is not fun).

After having the A #1 Air tech come out and review the issue, he determined that we needed Freon, but that we also had a Freon leak. He then said it'd be pointless to charge up our Freon and tried to sell us an entire overhaul of our A/C and heating system for 10k+!

We thanked him and he left. After discussing further with my dad, we decided to call out our home warranty to see if the issue could be fixed for a cheaper price. Turns out, we don't have a Freon leak at all. We had a broken compressor. Had to pay a 10th of what A #1 Air wanted from us to fix it.

Why would a reputable company want to gouge a customer by trying to trick them into getting 10k worth of repairs and updates? Well, it's because they aren't reputable. Snake oil salesmen, the lot of them, and ready to take advantage of a desperate pregnant woman and her husband (except that we are smarter than we look, apparently).

If you DO call them for a quote, PLEASE seek a second opinion.

This company rips people off with RIDICULOUSLY high costs for their parts. All that was wrong with my unit was that a fuse shorted out and the cost for the repair was $257!!!! The labor was $59 and the part they claim was $198... SERIOUSLY, $198 for a Fuse?!?!?

Im sorry, but I would never recommend anyone to this place! Yes, their Customer Service is great and the Tech was amazing as well, however even the Tech felt bad charging me that price, he looked at me and apologized in advance and showed be the companies price catalog and said, I'm so sorry, but keep in mind this is what the company charges, I have no say on the cost.

I normally don't have time in my busy day to sit down and write reviews, as this is my first time doing so, however I had to warn folks to not do business with a company that can justify a 400% mark up on a part that clearly costs less than $3 to purchase!

Here's an update to my previous adventures with A#1 Air:
As you can see, below my initial rant, a very nice response from A#1 Air was received.  Stating - we want to make things right.

Ok.  I shortly thereafter received a call from their customer service dept.  I don't really know why they call themselves customer service.  It's just another operator making a follow up appointment.  No mention of any sort of compensation or even acknowledgment of the lies/wrongdoing that got me to this point.  They were simply interested in re-scheduling another time to have their crew come out and fix the red-tagged items.  This was during the summer, and I was about to leave for vacation.  So, I asked them to call me back 2 weeks later.

They did call me back 2 weeks later.  And I scheduled an appointment for 8-28-18 between 8am-12pm.  No big surprises here!  Guess what?!  They didn't show up or call.  LOL!  (Actually, I'm not angry any longer.  This is really laughable. A comedy.)  So, I called their main number.  I simply said, This is _____.  I just wanted to see if I was on the schedule for today?  After a moment of pause, the operator asked me to hold on.  (There must be something next to my name on my customer file at this point..A**hole... or, something like that.)  The next person that gets on the line is an operator from dispatch.  She says... I apologize for the misunderstanding..., I stopped her right there and said... My misunderstanding?  Or, your misunderstanding?... She paused and said, our misunderstanding.  At least she was honest.  (I wish the management was as honest.)  I asked to please have someone from their customer service team call me.

About an hour later, I got a call from a VERY NICE LADY.  They definitely pulled out the big guns this time.  She was fantastic.  A real people handler. She absorbed every harsh comment about A#1 Air that I threw at her.  She understood my pain.  I felt all warm and fuzzy after speaking with her.  She told me everything was gonna' be alright.  I want so badly to believe her.  I do believe her.

I didn't think it possible, but this lady may have single-handedly saved the A#1 Air World from any further Yelp-wrath from me.

To be continued.

This company is so efficient when a frazzled person is in need of AC! I called on a Friday evening when I came home to no AC in August and they had tech Josh to my house within 2 hours. They called to tell me estimated time after scheduling then called an hour later to say Josh had completed his last job and was on his way. My sister and parents recommended them to me and I also recommend them.

Just got a quote to replace the system in my house. Not only was the service tech 2 hours late, the quote I got was extremely rushed and cookie cutter. Not to mention $4k higher than my Reliant quote. His response to me was well sorry I came out ..... that seals the deal for me.

I wrote a review 2 years ago for A#1 Air that wasn't very good.  Long story short, no one showed up on a service call to fix our AC.  I actually received a response from the owners with sincere apologies and asked for an opportunity to win back our business.  At the time, I had a different company come out to do the repair.  I did feel that they were truly sorry and wanted to make it right.

Today, my outside AC unit went out due to a gecko shorting out the contactor.  I decided to give A#1 Air another shot.  I called about 4:45 in the afternoon on a Friday.  The person who took my call was extremely nice and was able to see the notes on my call from 2 years ago.  He apologies for the problems we had then and told me that he would waive the service call fee.  Once again, I felt the apology was sincere and it made feel more confident about calling back.  Within an hour, Trice showed up and quickly diagnosed the problem.  He actually showed me the fried gecko that had seen better days, and told me the issue about the contactor.  Trice was super nice and was able to replace it quickly at a reasonable price, the AC kicked on, and once again we have cold air blowing.

Thank you to Trice and A#1 Air.  I received great service and felt appreciated as a customer.  You have won us back as your customer.

Not really sure...spent a considerable amount of money on a new system only to have it present issues I was trying to avoid with my 17yr old system. Told by one tech I could not be hearing a noise (that I told him was prob a transformer) from the unit an continued to tell me it was only when the unit was running - literally had to switch the system off and on and play the now you hear it game before he believed me...and tightened and rewired the transformer (sigh) - problem gone. Still having flame out and short cycling - told by one tech its not normal but prob break in...another tech that it is functioning normally...that the limiter/system is supposed to shut off the heat exchanger when the system gets too hot - as a security precaution...that that it normal...on a brand new unit...that it doesn't hit two degrees above start cycle temp before the system shuts down due to overheating.  When questioned regarding the paradox...he said...I can't fix this....management is gonna need to look at this.  Management will give you a call.  4 days later...nothing. Units barely a week old...not sure what things are going to be like 1, 5, 10 years down the line. Polite, yes. Beyond that, well...

We were pressured into purchasing a full HVAC unit from this company when our old unit died during a record breaking cold spell. I was told it was not worth fixing my old unit and pressed into buying a much larger and more expensive system than I needed. I was assured this was an excellent deal as it would be more energy efficient and came with a 16 year no hassle warranty. This turned out to be less than accurate. I was never told I was getting a heat pump system, it does not heat the house effectively leaving me freezing all winter. When I complained I was told that is just how it works.  As for my warranty, the system breaks at least once a year and each time I have to fight to get them to fix it. Several times it has backed up my plumbing, something my old system never did, and which they insist is not covered. Though they installed a large stretch of the plumbing. Their technicians cannot fix this and they force me to utilize their plumber at more than triple what a normal plumber would charge. This company preys on people in desperate situations.

Purchased a new unit, extremely expensive.  When unit was purchased, we were told we would have service 24/7.  This is not true.  Then we were told we would have a call back with-in 24 hours.  Not true.  When we called the lady we spoke to was not helpful at all.  Been without air for over 24 hours and still have not received a call back.  Had to call them back.  Stand behind your word!

11.17.18 - I called at 230 pm on a Saturday afternoon about our central heat not working.  When they said I would be called when I was 'next in line', I settled in for the long wait.  They called by 300 pm to tell me I was next, that he had just gotten to the job before me....then by 345 pm to tell me he was on the way.  With traffic coming to Rockwall from Plano, he arrived by 445 pm!  This was a great start to the experience.

John Guerrero was our Technical Advisor.  Very young, polite and professional.  He listened patiently to all of the troubleshooting we had done on our own, including replacing a sensor on the main unit.  He proceeded to troubleshoot unit, narrowing it down to our Nest.  Once we replaced with another one we had - he stayed to ensure this actually fixed our problem.  He suggested other services we needed (duct cleaning) but was not a high pressure sales situation.  He answered other questions we had about future needs and we were impressed with his knowledge at such a young age.  We felt he was 100% capable to handle anything he may have found wrong.

He was with us over an hour, and we only owed the $59 service call charge.  While we were kicking ourselves that this should have been our next troubleshooting step ourselves, we took comfort in the fact that he was able to check out our complete system to ensure it was working correctly.

Thank you for having such a professional, courteous staff.  We will definitely call again when needed.

I've been with A#1 for the last three years.  They will come day or night and do not charge higher fees if after normal business hours.  We did our semi-annual check up and Juan was great.  The cost was $99.  However, he offered a $144 annual checkup for two (winter and summer) so it actually saved us in per visit checkups.  We took him up on the offer.   He did a great job and I love how consistent they are and notified us when he was on the way and also sent us an email with the name of the technician coming.  Great job A#1.  I've referred my friends to you when I see them post an issue with their air or heat.

Have been a customer of A#1 Air for many years. Called them for service Called them out to service a AC system that was not properly cooling. The technician told me that I was completely out of Freon, & the system had a major leak. Due to the age of the system this was no longer practical to repair this unit & I should purchase a new one. He spent the remaining time showing me all the new systems and pricing that I could purchase from A#1 Air.

The following day AC Rescue came out for a second opinion, within 30 minutes the system was up and running. The fix was .5 pounds of Freon and a clean air filter. There was no major leak and the filter was dirty from the recent remodeling of the home.

I called A#1 Air and told them in my opinion I felt cheated & lied to. The system was not accurately serviced, but the sales pitch from the service tech was first class.

My opinion is that A#1 Air is not an honest company to deal with. I will never use them again.

In their defense A#1 did offer to credit back my $100 service call fee. as of today this has not yet happen.

I had an extremely bad experience with this company:

Schedule: First of all, they only commit to a 4-hour time slot for the inspection visit (like a cable or telephone service provider) unlike so many others that give a fixed time. I had called a couple of days in advance to have them take a look at a non-functional AC; the person I spoke to promised to have the tech keep me as the first visit of the day so that he could arrive before 10 am. However, on the day of the visit, I received multiple calls indicating every time that the tech had a few calls ahead of me and was getting delayed. Finally, the tech arrived just around noon, 4 hours after the expected time.

Attitude: After 4 hours delay, there was no apology or even any attempt at it. In fact, the person who visited was downright curt in his demeanor and was very reluctant to answer any questions clearly. He did not try to find out what the issue was and only gave quotes for several optional part replacements without confirming if the problem will be fixed. Even in that, he quoted $350 for a component that I can buy online for under $40. When asked why is it so expensive he started responded angrily that the company needs to make money to pay for expenditures, health insurance for employees, etc. One of the suggestions was a complete replacement of the AC. When asked about lower cost alternatives to that, he was very rude and just shrugged his shoulders. I would never go with company (A#1 Air) again, nor would I recommend to anybody else.

Instead, I ended up with Air Comfort Solutions (ACS) where the experience was completely opposite, the person actually cared. He spent time to find out/explain what the issue was, and determined the lowest cost option to replace the appropriate component.

Dealing with home owners insurance is such a joke when they send people. We've been dealing with a hot and cold living room for about 10 months now. We had HO come out and check it out and they solved and did nothing to help. So I googled searched a top rated place and found A#1 Air. I've never been more impressed by anyone coming to check an issue then I have with them. It was thorough, explained, it had a plan and a resolution. Trusting them with any other issues in the future. After an april cold snap i realized that one of my heating units was blowing cold air.

I called on sunday evening and a person actually answered the phone and set me up for the next day.

Koyt came out and was extremely professional and even offered me observe for no extra charge! He diagnosed the problem being with my thermostat which I opted to replace myself. The total cost was a$59 service charge- it was a first for me as a home owner not to have some hvac guy try to sell me$10k new unit!

We've been without a/c since Monday night -- with a unit that is exactly ONE YEAR OLD that was serviced in March and, oh yeah, we've had to call for service twice since then because it wasn't cooling -- and they're still saying,  Sorry, your compressor isn't in yet.  So, after sticking it out in a 91 degree house for 3 days,  we're going to have to load up the two dogs and find a pet-friendly hotel.  On or dime, of course.

The services that were recommended were grossly over priced and not necessary! Received two additional professional opinions and both were in the same price range of $175.00! Their recommendation for repair was $2-3 thousand dollars on a home that was barely two years old and the services offered were not needed!

I may have already posted about this when it happened, but I'm sitting here listening to my air conditioner running constantly and being reminded that A#1 air sold me a unit that is too small for my house ...

After talking to another company I decided that I'd leave the $7000 system until it dies in around 5 years from overwork (because again it is the wrong size for my house)

I have told the company about the problem and why I wouldn't be using them again and I STILL get calls reminding me to do my yearly service on this system that is again too small for my house ...

Don't make the same mistake I did - use another company ...

I am posting Here  because the disappointment in your service crews the repairs and the consistent trying to sell someone a brand new air conditioning unit by your employees is horrible
used u  for several years  And recently it is becoming a constant rip off the repairs are negligent they come and go in a short period of time if it's too hot there in a rush to go home and there's not one time that they show up and say something is wrong something's needed  That requires a big expense
I will never recommend a one air again and I suggest that people go to smaller businesses instead as the saying goes once they get bigThey become garbage

They were able to come out fast, and the people who handle the scheduling are nice and seem very competent at their job. That's where the positive part of the review ends. For the work I needed, they were by far the most expensive. It seemed like the technician was trying to take advantage of the fact that I am a single mom with no experience or knowledge of these matters. He quoted me over 3800 for replacing a control board, replacing circuit breaker, and replacing the blower motor (isn't this only for heating the house?). I told him that I would have to think about it and that I had someone coming from a different company later. He then proceeds to tell me that the other company is just a mom and pop shop who is going bankrupt and suggested I shouldn't put my kids' comfort in jeopardy just to save a buck. This other company is just as well known as A#1 Air so I'm not sure where he got the whole mom and pop bankruptcy story. The other tech came out later in the day. He didn't talk down to me and gave me a quote that was less than 1/2 of the A#1 Air quote. He is scheduled to come out this week to fix my ac so I can't vouch for his work just yet, but my overall experience so far has been the opposite of A#1 Air.

Our three, 15 year old, air conditioning units finally needed to be replaced.  Paul Head was the A#1 advisor that worked with us and he was excellent.  Paul was at our house on a Tuesday, made recommendations and was able to schedule the work for Thursday.  This seemed like a big job to me - three units outside and a whole bunch of stuff in the attics.  A#1 sent three crews, the work only took about half a day.  The installers were organized and professional.  When they left, the house and yard looked exactly as they did prior to the job.  A#1 has also maintained and serviced our equipment forever.  Highly recommend for both maintenance and new/replacement of equipment!

Scam! BAD service. BAD customer service.

I had an emergency service August 2019 with A#1 Air. It was too hot, my A/C stopped to work, I had elderly family visiting and it was the weekend. It took forever to have somebody available to show up.
The visit cost $59.00. Most companies would waive the visit fee, if you buy the service, based on diagnosis. Not this one.
When I say it is a scam, is because they take advantage of people who has emergency and does not know much about the system. They charged me $390.00 (parts and labor)+59.00(visit)= 449.00 for the service. Now, that was a capacitor, that cost $12.00 anywhere, and it is installed right outside of the A/C unit (i'm no expert, and I found out later about price and installation). Plus, it didn't work right the way, so the technician had to come back, and he was very rude. He also said that he would call me back next day (never did), to tell me if the labor would be covered under the manufacturer possible warranty, since the unit is not old, but I've got the house just over a year ago, so I don't have info on that either.
When I figured that I paid too much for it, I called them, and they said that somebody would be calling back. They had no idea about what the technician told me about the labor, and nobody called back. I tried a couple of times later. One person said the same thing again, but since they got paid, I guess I'm not important to them anymore.
So bottom line, I paid $449.00 to replace a $12.00 part that I could have done, just by spending some time online.

I don not recommend service A#1 Air to anybody.

Our downstairs unit stopped working on today, Saturday afternoon. I called at about 6:00 pm and they had someone here by 9:30. That in itself is impressive. Then consider in my mind I'm thinking thousands to get it fixed. This is the kind of surprise I like. $318.00 and done in 30 minutes. These guys are awesome! I will not hesitate to refer this company to everyone!

We had a great experience, we highly recommend. We knew we needed a new 5 ton AC unit and with Stark air and heating, they were always trying to up-sell us. But with A #1 they troubleshot our system and gave an upgrade on our system (higher Seer) for cheaper than Stark quoted us on a lower system and it's a Rheem.

The installers were very courteous and professional, and finished within 6-7 hours, the install included a nest package!

Thank you A1,

Gene Hazley

This company is the best. We bought both HVAC units from A#1 and have been nothing but pleased. We strive to maintain them properly and have them serviced as recommended. The service technicians are always great, we get plenty of notice when they are coming, they leave everything neat and professionally done.
We are selling our house and we had over-zealous inspectors that seemed to nit-pick everything included recently inspected HVAC systems. The technicians came out, took before and after pictures of minor repairs that we could send to the realtors, and everyone was satisfied! Great work and just charged me for a service call (no charge for the minor repairs!).
Love this company, they have done fantastic work for me over the years and I would 1000% recommend them for anyone needing HVAC work and more!!!!! Thanks, folks!!

Everyone is very nice and try to be helpful but when your ac is out and the house is hot you would like to get it fixed.
I know we live in the big city and there are a lot of people here. We had a 4:30-5:09 appt. after the tech finished his last job he would be over they would give me a 30 min heads up so I was thinking 630-7 at the latest waited till 8 then called and canceled. A call would have been nice to see if it was going to be to late or to see if it would be alright to come tomorrow. I did call twice and we were next never happened. Not mad just disappointed and still kinda of warm in the house. Will try someone else tomorrow.

Need to stay away from this company find anyone else A #1 Air is not all they appear to be, their sale personal are one place above a use car salesman, we needed a new AC system and willing to pay for a good system, we added a new hot water system too, and that's were it looked good on paper. That was the start of our nightmare. All I can say is we wished we had never used them for any products or services, what a waste of money.

Just want to say thank you so much. Your repair man was very respectful and professional. The gentleman who came out to install the new A/C and heating system were very professional, and was very impressed that they even made sure to clean up after themselves. Thank you again for not pushing all the extra bells and whistles. Nice to have our new system.

Wow! What a fantastic experience I had with A#1 Air.
Victor and his crew installed all new air ducts in my attic as well as a new HVAC inside the house and outside as well. They worked straight through for 13+ hours and they left my home and garage so clean. No dust, no dirt, no mess to clean up. The new HVAC works so much better than what I had. I know my electric bills will be much lower in the future than they have been in years.
Victor and his crew were extremely hardworking and efficient. They treated me and my property with the utmost respect. They are true professionals. Patrick gave me full details and presented all my choices clearly so that I could make an informed decision about what to purchase.

Everything started out well.

Communication and scheduling were excellent.

Danny the technician came out to inspect our 11 yr old, 5 ton Trane AC unit that had summarily ceased working.  After inspecting inside and out, he told us that our system was basically shot, the outdoor unit wasn't working properly and probably caused the circuit board to on the attic unit to 'fry' and also our blower motor in the attic was toast, and spewing oil everywhere.

He provided a quick tally of the needed repairs, which totaled roughly $4000 for parts & labor, or about half-way to a brand new system.

OK.  Have the sales guy come out and provide a quote for a new system.  Sales guy comes out, after 45 minutes produces a quote for $10,000 for a new system with installation.  But there is a 60 month, 0% interest deal available.  Seems a little high, and very much lacking in itemization, but it's a solution

I do some investigation on the web.  I learn that one should expect bids to be something like cost + 40% margin.  Sounds reasonable.

Industry professionals suggest that HVAC contractors win about 1 bid out of 5, and interestingly, the ratio of wins/bid doesn't really change whether they quote cost plus 40%, cost plus 20% or cost plus 100%.  So, unsurprisingly, HVAC contractors can make the same amount of $ for half the work; or twice as much per job by simply inflating the cost, especially when it starts getting hot.  BTW,

The retail price (not 'cost;) for a 5 ton unit with gas heater is around $5000-6000, so a $10,000 quote  seems like a pretty fat margin, much more than 40%.  I planned to get 3-4 quotes.

Here's the funny part.  On Saturday morning I get a call from A#1 customer satisfaction survey people and I tell them that I was very satisfied with the tech who came out.  No sooner do I hang up, and my wife tells me her brother is in town from South Texas over the weekend and he's a certified HVAC guy.  He offers to take a look and do a sanity check for us.

Turns out that there's a blown fuse up in the attic system.  He replaces the fuse.  He checks the thermostat, not working.  He replaces the thermostat.  Guess what?  The system is now fully operational after $60 parts, 3 hours of work by a trained tech, including travel to the hardware store.

So, the system could've been made operational for less than $400, as opposed to $4000, or $10,000.

I, of course, realize that this is a band aid solution and not the same as replacing all of the old components, or replacing the whole system.  And I acknowledge that the old system components are wearing out and will need to be replaced in the foreseeable future.

But still, it does leave one with an uneasy feeling that a trained expert told me all about the big expensive things that were wrong and somehow failed to either mention, or realize, that a simple fuse and thermostat would get things running again.  For this, I rate my experience 2 stars.

I will never do business with this company again and would strongly suggest you all don't either.
My saga began last December when I called A#1 Air to set up my winter service appointment, which is included with the service agreement I had with them for the last 2+ years. I spoke with someone on that day (I can't remember their name) who seemed very nice and scheduled me for the 2pm - 6pm afternoon slot on January 6th.
On the morning of January 6th, someone from their dispatch unit called and informed me that a technician had just become available and asked if they could come early. I explained to the dispatcher that I had business meetings to attend that morning and no one was home so I couldn't accommodate the change. Shortly after this call I receive an email from A#1 Air that informed me my technician, Brandon, was on his way...oh, and he's going to my previous home in Saginaw, not my current home in Keller?? (I moved almost 2 years earlier and they've been to my home in Keller) I tried for 15-30 minutes to get in contact with someone to clear up the confusion, but was never able to get through to anyone.
I chalked this up to a system error and assumed someone would surely still be coming by MY home at the scheduled time so I went ahead and left my office in Downtown Fort Worth early so I could be home when they got there. 6pm came and went and I never saw or heard from anyone. Needless to say, I was pretty angry, but imagine my anger when I check my email and find another email from A#1 Air asking me to rate my service technician. What? How can I rate someone who never showed up to MY home? Surely he didn't service the system at my old house, did he?
I'm a pretty busy guy so I didn't get the time to call and discuss this with anyone. That is until Misty left a message for me in February asking me to call her and schedule our Spring appointment. I hesitantly called her back and set up the appointment for February 24th from 8am to 11am. I explained the previous situation to Misty who literally laughed it off and told me this wouldn't happen again. She obviously didn't understand how frustrating this all was so I eventually disconnected the call. Be assured, I handled the call professionally and disconnected the call long after the appointment was scheduled.
On the day of the appointment I stayed home from work so I could again be there when the technician showed up. And again 11am comes and goes and I never see or hear from anyone from A#1 Air. At least this time I didn't get irrelevant emails about a service technician who didn't show. When I get back to work I call and speak with someone at A#1 Air who claims Misty had accidentally scheduled it for March 24th, although her notes clearly say February 24th. Again, I explained the previous situation to this person who blamed the matter on a new computer system and offered no real resolution or empathy so I disconnected the call.
A few minutes later I receive a phone call from Tyler, who is supposedly a member of management at A#1 Air. He admitted to and took responsibility for the mistakes and lack of empathy shown by his employees. I told him, although I appreciated his call, I was in no mood to talk at the moment and I again disconnected that call.
I then wrote a letter to James and Sherry Green, Owners of A#1 Air, and emailed a copy to [email protected] and Tyler with specific instructions to see to it that my letter gets in James and/or Sherry Green's hands. In typical A#1 Air fashion, I never heard from anyone. That is, not until after I followed up via email 6 weeks later on April 4th. Mr. Nelson replied apologizing for the lack of response and explained my email was passed on to a manager (Mr. Nelson claimed he was a manager) who had since left the company so the ball was dropped again. He assured me he would get with another manager the next day and get back to me.
Yet again, in typical A#1 Air fashion, I never heard from anyone. That is, not until after I followed up via email 4 weeks later on May 1st. Mr. Nelson again apologized and said that he had discussed my situation with his General Manager and they could offer me $100 in American Express gift cards, which I emphatically declined since this really seemed inconsequential to them and was only a means to try to get rid of me and sweep this whole matter under the rug. I suggested instead that the offer be more along the lines of a new tankless water heater and/or an outstanding deal on a new HVAC unit.
My suggested offer was denied and Mr. Nelson explained the $100 gift card was the best they would do. I asked Mr. Nelson to terminate my service agreement immediately and to refund any money they had collected since the last time a service technician visited my home in Keller. Yet again, in typical A#1 Air fashion, I never heard from anyone. Although it does seem as though he did terminate my service agreement as I'd req...

The $ 69 service call doesn't include anything except sending the tech to ring the door bell. There's then a troulbleshooting fee and then additional charges if you want it repaired. We received a quote for the repair that seemed exceptionally high. The tech said we wouldn't find it and cheaper and wanted us to commit right then and there but we told hime we had to think about it. We found another company that did the work for 75% less than A#1 Electric. It took them 30 minutes to diagnose the problem, they returned the next morning and spent only three hours completeing the repair.

If any company deserves 5 stars, it's A#1. We have had nothing but exemplary service from their AC service and we are excited to know that they now cover plumbing and electrical!  We first started using A#1 about 6 or 7 years ago  when our AC went out on us on a hot summer Friday afternoon at 4:00 (the same tIme your kids get sick). I turned to the ol' Yellow Pages and A#1 advertised that they work any time, day or night, and don't charge extra for after-hours. So I thought I would put them to the test to  see if they really meant it......and they did.  Our technician showed up around midnight and didn't leave until 2:00am. He fixed the problem and we were believers. They have replaced both of our old air conditioners (in separate years) and we just had the ducts cleaned (a 1956 house) this week with air purifiers added. The technicians are always very professional as are the call-takers. We completely trust A#1 and I can't say that about many companies.  They are also really good to their employees; we've asked! The bad reviews are quite alarming to me and make me wonder if they come from competitors.

They did repair my air conditioning, after much back and forth and confusion. The right hand at this company has no idea what the left is doing. Major problem is the tech doing the work spilled joint compound on my hardwood floors, which severely damaged them. Unfortunately, my husband paid them in full, based on the promise that the company would make it right. They never called us, and dodge our calls with excuses. They did serious damage, it's not a little spot. We will have to incur significant expense and then try to recoup through legal means.  Use this company at your own risk and peril.

I don't write many reviews but my experience with A#1 was underwhelming. To start, I had a Sunday appt. with them and they didn't show up until Monday end of day. This led to two days of us waiting at home for them to arrive, including taking 1 day off of work.
Then the technician didn't find any issues but we were still charged the $99 service fee for 10 minutes of looking at our AC unit. So doing the math, thats more than a lawyer/doctor charges for an hourly rate but without doing anything.
So we still have an issue with the unit, lost 2 days of waiting around and spent $99 for nothing.
Not a great business model for encouraging a repeat customer. Disappointed.

Never Ever use
A#1 Air

Called them at 8am for an emergency service on my AC that had suddenly stopped blowing cold.  I was told by the first girl that they normally respond in less than 4 hours and that I would receive a call from the tech when he was on his way.  Having to work, I handed off to the wife and headed out the door.  So, she waited patiently until noon.  No call.  So she called them.  They apologized and assured her we were at the top of the waiting list and would be getting a call from a tech in the next couple hours.  She called them again mid afternoon and received more excuses (busy day).  When I got home around 5 she had still not received a call.  So I called them back and received more apologies and assurances that we were at the top of the list and would have a tech here soon.  At 7pm ELEVEN HOURS after the initial call for emergency service I called back understandably quite upset.  I was passed up to a manager who told me he couldn't say when a tech would be able to make it.  WHAT!!

Worst customer service ever!  This company is obviously way too big to care about anyone and clearly doesn't mind telling lies to string you along and keep you thinking help is just around the corner.

Unlike many other HVAC companies, the staff I've encountered at A#1 Air have all been extremely courteous and professional. I recently had a new system installed and they responded quickly when I had a very minor post-installation problem to resolve the issue. We had another company maintaining our system for over a decade, when the one they installed broke down, they wanted a LOT of money (double the cost for the 10 year old one it was replacing) to replace it. We called A#1 Air, they came out, quoted us a price that was several thousand cheaper so we went with them. Of course, day of delivery comes and low-and-behold we need this and we need that (with the customary scare tactics) and suddenly we're THREE THOUSAND above the cost for a better system we were quoted by the old company but being mid-installation, we were captive suckers.
Also, during installation, shortcuts were made that resulted in less access to the space and remnants from the old system still in place. Plus some things that were promised (a solid concrete pad) were not delivered (it's too heavy) and a cheap, breakable concrete covered foam pad was used (the same kind that cracked the last time).
Not impressed. Is the system nice? It should be for the money we paid! Was the work fast? Fast to schedule but literally took twelve hours one day and six another. Do we feel we got a value for our money? No. Would we recommend? We would give anyone who asked our honest experience and let them compare A#1 to our old company. Oh, our bill actually went up after the system was replaced so we may have gotten a worse deal than we realize. Thrilling.

The technician was very friendly. He did a pretty good job. We replaced a very expensive 3 year old automatic faucet because the handle was loose. I know it can be repaired but I guess they don't repair those. It's a Moen and under warranty but I didn't have the receipt. So He said I had to buy another one from them for $700. He did a great job installing it. It's just not as nice as the one he took out. I really wanted to keep the other one but he cut all the lines. I specifically asked him to save it. I was also told the club agreement was $24 a month, left my credit card with my wife , when I came back he set it up for $48 a month on my card. We also had 2 toilet flappers replaced , $150 each. That part went well. My toilets stopped running.

Out AC quit working lat week at the start of the current heat wave.  I called and had a technician come out to give a quote.  I had to pay $59 to get a quotes to repair.  Stated blower needed to be replaced among other things.  Total cost just under $4000.  Started getting quotes on a new unit when we got someone that actually knows how to run an honest business get our AC running for less than $200.  All we needed was 1 wire replaced.  The motor works.  It was actually replaced about 1 year ago.

I had a great experience with A#1 Air. I was far from an easy customer needing a 40ft ladder and rescheduling my appointment multiple times due our townhomes getting a new roof put on.  A#1 accommodated me each time. The technicians Sam Andrei and Zach N were especially fantastic. They showed up and were extremely friendly and professional. They were able to get the 40ft ladder up on my unit with no problems and quickly serviced my units. They seem to be running better than ever before. I will definitely be using A#1 Air for my annual heating and cooling services in the future.

If I could give less than one star I would. Every time I have had a service call there has been some problem. I have 2 units purchased through this company (worst purchase ever) that are less than 2 years old and have had multiple service calls and never do they arrive within the 4 hour window you are given.  When my units were serviced in the spring I was quoted one price on the phone when the service appointment was set up but they failed to take into account that I have 2 units, so double the price. They left it up to the service technician to tell me this information after I was already irate from being kept waiting past my appointment time. Then in June one unit required a service call and we found a tool left in the unit from the previous technician (not sure if that had anything to do with the issue the unit had). I've attached a picture of the tool. When the technician left with a promise someone would be calling with a follow up appointment to install a switch, I was pretty sure this wouldn't happen. Waited nearly a month and made the call myself to set up the appointment. Time after time this has been my experience since day one when the wrong size unit was installed in my home and had to be replaced and I was told I should be ok with it only cooling my home to 76 in the heat of the day. Are you kidding me?

I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY.

A#1 Air is probably the most recognizable HVAC company in DFW due to advertising.  This is probably the reason why they are ridiculously overpriced.  I can deal with things being expensive but they try to trick the consumer into paying more, similar to a shady car mechanic taking advantage of naive customers. Here's my story:

My AC went out in the middle of summer.  Hell on Earth.  I called A#1 because I see them everywhere and all over their website it used to say  free estimates.  The guy came out to basically inform me that my 17 year old unit needed to be replaced which I had already assumed.  He drafted his estimate which was devastatingly expensive.  In the estimate it included a a Goodman brand unit which is regarded as a budget unit.  He also was going to include a brand new concrete slab for the unit to sit on.  Oddly, their was about a $95 service fee that I needed to pay then and there which I refused  and he quickly removed that from the bill after I had to call him out on the free estimate offer.  Of course he was accommodating because he was doing his best to sell me his services

I luckily got 2 other quotes from other companies.  Both HVAC companies warned me of A#1.  Both technicians explained to me that the concrete slab actually comes with the unit.  Meaning the A#1 guy was pitching the slab like he was hooking me up but it actually just comes along with the unit from the factory.  Its literally part of the unit.

I went with the other company and paid $1500 less than the A#1 air quote and did not get the budget Goodman unit that A#1 tried to sell me.  I ended up getting a higher caliber GE model.  So really I probably saved a little over 2 grand by not using A#1 and that is about 40% of my purchase price.

Something has to pay for all of that advertising.  Now they are giving away a muscle car and have hired the celebrity guy from a Hot Rod Show on Discovery to do commercials.  By all means, if you want to pay 40-50% more so they can giveaway hot rods and pay celebrity endorsers go with A#1.  Just please please get a second quote.  Make sure you get the A#1 air quote first so that the technician from the other company can go over it with you.

Back in 2013, I got a great deal from Air #1 air conditioning company, and bought a complete air conditioning unit. After year and 5 months, the unit start give me a problem, and I call air #1 and explain the problem. They send their  technician right away. He went through the unit and find out the problem and they took a good care off the job. Which is the part and labor cost about $900, and I got it for free.
Thank you Air#1 for your customer service and handling.

The technician was on a sales mission. After looking our unit over he said he had done all he could and it was time for a new unit. Our A/C would turn on but it would not stay on or cool below 80. So, he happily wrote us up a quote for 15k and went on his merry way.
We had another company come out and look at the unit, 10 minutes later the problem was solved. A/C is now running like new.
It is always good to get a second opinion on big projects, this turned out to be a very minor fix. I will skip all future calls to A#1 Air. (and I wont even get into the inflated price of their units... ).

Terrible experience with this company.  I have used them for many jobs but had no issues up until recently.  My heater went out in mid February.  I had A#1 come out and replace a motor and it started working again for a week or so until it broke down again.

This time, instead of sending out the normal tech, they sent us some kid who didn't seem like he was even 18.  He spent a couple hours messing around with the heater and told me that the igniter broke and needed to be replaced for $350.  Told him to go ahead and replace it.  An hour later he comes down and tells me he can't get it to mount on the bracket and if it was okay if he taped it?  Seriously?  Tape an igniter to the heater?  I told him no that sounds like a terrible idea and he proceeded to mess around with it for another half hour before telling me that he couldn't fix it and would have to come back in the morning and I would be first call.

The next day, I called dispatch around noon and asked when the technician would show up.  They told me I was next even though I was supposed to have the first call.  Turns out, I ended up waiting until around 7pm for a technician to show up.  They proceed to install the igniter but now tell me my gas valve is bad and needs to be replaced for $700 on top of the $350 I paid for the igniter.  Throw in the $700 I paid for the motor a week back, that is almost a brand new furnace with warranty.  Sensing something was off I told him not to replace the gas valve and I would call in another company and get them to evaluate.  I was told if I got another company to do any work on the furnace that A#1 would not warranty any of the work done.  Seriously?  I paid over $1000, still had a broken heater, and if I got someone else to work on it you won't warranty the parts you replaced?  I was told I would get a call from a manager the next day to discuss my experience but this of course never happened.  They got paid for their work so that's all that seems to matter.

I called in another company the next day and turns out my gas valve wasn't correctly wired or installed.  I simply paid for the service call and did not have to replace the $700 valve that A#1 told me I would have to replace.  This seems very sketchy that A#1 kept replacing parts and my heater still wouldn't work, but another company was able to come in and fix it without replacing any more parts.  Highly recommend you stay away from this company.

They did the work that was asked and explained why it happened to my air conditioner.  Great customer service.

I did not shop around because I needed it fixed right away, but it seemed a little pricey.  I will shop around next time, for sure.

A#1 Air is a complete rip-off operation.  A#1 was called because our home A/C wasn't working well and their diagnostic test was what we thought was competitive at $59.  Upon arrival the service tech (Jordan) checked our system he said that the system was 1 lb low of refrigerant.  My reply was well that's not so bad the new refrigerant is pretty cheap His reply was not this stuff it's $1000 per jug He also said that the capacitor was faulty and barely working.  My reply again Great, that's probably the cheapest part that could break.  I replaced a capacitor on my garage door and the part was like $11.  Jordan's response was Not this type of capacitor, this type is a dual band, so they're like a couple hundred bucks. Well,  A#1 Air charges $90 a lb for 410A refrigerant that cost $6 per lb and charged $299 to put in a $28 capacitor that took literally five mins.  This is done with deception when people who are in distress because of the need of air conditioning in Texas heat and not know the true cost and if we are being lied to.  This was confirmed when I comparison shopping and the same services with 1/4 the price.DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH A#1 AIR IF YOU VALUE YOUR MONEY!!!
Google 410a for the true price as amazon even sells it for $155 for a 25 lb tank shipped
the capcitor that I was told  was a couple hundred bucks cost $28.62 as an OEM part.

Excellent customer service...nobody's perfect, and there will be frustrations as there is in any area of life.  A-1 installed an HVAC unit several months ago.  I have a 2 story home.  No marks or scratches on my walls bringing the new equipment in and the old out! They left my home as clean as when they arrived.  They worked with me on financing.  I have had to have them back several times...not because of anything A-1 did, but because this 68 y/o can't remember squat!  Each time the tech was patient, kind, and explained very throughly.   I recommend them everytime i get a chance

Words can not express my gratitude towards this company.  We had just came back from spring break and had water in several areas.  After pulling up our flooring in the bathroom, entry, hallway, and master closet, we thought we had a slab leak.  I called A #1 Air/plumbing.  The first 2 guys came out and couldn't lock down the exact problem area due to the leak was very small. Puzzling.  The very next day, another gentleman showed up and after about 20 minutes, he determined that the problem was our shower faucet.  The cartridge in the faucet had failed and leaked in the wall and down under the flooring.  After some pulling, prying, and convincing the cartridge was replacement and no more leak.  This company has installed our AC and now saved us from a adventurous home remodel.   These guys are aces.

We've used them since 2011 when they replaced an AC unit in our home. Each season they perform preventative maintenance on our AC and Heat equipment. They recently replaced our 50 gallon dual hot water heaters and the recirc pump located in the attic. Not an easy task. They did a fine job, they beat their competitors pricing, and we appreciated their excellent customer service. (I'm a little picky.) Good job Bubba Ashton and Nick Kea.

Do not go with this company. I was referred by a friend and was sold by him that I even signed up for the membership with them. The tech was friendly but the fact that they charged $1700 dollars for 3 items is probably the stupidest thing I have ever seen. For a blower capacitor, a purifier and compressor saver should not cost that much. For just the capacitor which is a 14 dollar item and can be installed with a single screw and for a saver came out to $532.

Do NOT go with this company as the customer service told me they would not help me out since they charge that much due to the knowledge of their techs.

I wished I would have read the reviews on here instead of Angie's List. These guys are crooks. I called them to come out because my internal unit blower was not working, instead when they came out, they said my outside unit condenser was broken and i should replace my whole unit, in and out.

I thought something was fishy because when i turned on my unit, I saw a pipe freezing up, so it couldn't be a condenser problem.

I called Calahan Construction and Air for a second opinion. They came out and told me that it was a blower problem and fixed it. Unit is blowing cold air without any problems.

The only good thing about A#1 is that they do service calls 24/7, but is it really worth it if they are going to give you bad info and try to cheat you?

Had A#1 Air come out and repair one of my AC systems earlier this month. The repair technician knew exactly what the problem was when I described what the AC System was doing. He told me that the capacitor in the 4-ton compressor needed to be replaced........and that it was a $299 part. At that point, I had no idea what capacitors cost so I told him to replace it. He also suggested that we check that other 2-ton compressor to which he told me that the capacitor was going bad as well.....and that it was also a $299 part. So I had him replace that capacitor as well. The repair technician was not at my house more than 30 minutes total including the time it took him to write-up the invoice for a total of $657.  After he left, I went out and pulled the covers off both compressors and took pictures of the capacitors he replaced and then went in the house to google the exact type capacitors that were installed. I found that I could go buy BOTH of those capacitors for a total of $50 RETAIL.

Now, I don't mind paying service companies to come and repair things for me in my home and I know they need to make a profit as well to make a living.  I just want to be treated fairly and honestly.

I 'll let you be the judge if you think the $50 verses $657 difference is reasonable.

I will not be calling A#1 Air for any future repairs at my home.

Called A #1 Air Monday because we had no heat. We were told they'd send someone out. By 9:45pm, no one showed or called. Finally got someone out the next day. The technician was your typical slimy salesperson who tried ever pitch and hard close in the book. After looking at our unit for all of 5 min, he proceeds to tell us its the blower. He can fix it for $1k but we really need a whole new unit, it's only $20k and it's okay because we offer financing. Needless to say, he was unable to close the deal but we were out $60 for nothing and still no heat.  We called another company who sent someone out the same day. $140 and an easy fix later, we had heat.
Dont make the same mistake we did...do yourself a favor and read the reviews including the reviews that aren't recommended. It is clear as day why this company has such a low rating.

Unbelievable service!! 6/20/18 my AC unit stopped working, called A#1 Air, I used them in the past and wanted quick service. I was impressed that they showed up in 1 hour. The fan was not spinning in my unit outside so he replaced the dual capacitor cost was $99 for dispatch fee and $314 for the fix so total cost was $413. Took only about 15 minutes. He recommended that I should really get a new AC unit because it is 10 years old and the fix he did probably won't last that long. Of course I said no thanks.

After he left the fan was spinning but my house was not getting colder, two hours later I call A#1 Air back and tell them the issue and the lady said that she will put my name on the list but won't be till later tonight. I am okay with that because it 87 degrees in my house and I have family over for my son's birthday party the next day. She said she has to quote me another charge of $99 and I said what why would I pay again when I just paid $400 and it isn't even fixed? The guy did not even come in my house and check to see if that completely fixed the issue. She said when they show up if it turns out something was missed then I would not pay the $99.

I get a call at 10 pm saying the technician is on his way. At 11 pm I call back to say where is the technician and where is he coming from? She puts me on hold and then comes back a few minutes later saying they cannot get a hold of him. I say so where is he?? She won't tell me where he is coming from so I said to cancel and she says he could be right around the corner. I said cancel you can't even get a hold of him and they put me on the list for the next morning.

The next morning my wife called 6 other companies. Most of those companies prices are around $75 for a diagnostic. She quoted them on how much it would cost for the dual compositor and she received quotes from $110 - 200. Nowhere near $314. When A#1 Air called me back to reschedule me I cancelled it and then asked them about their Apples to Apples Guarantee. If you find a cheaper price within 30 days they will match it. The lady said she never heard of that and said she will have Customer Service call me. No one ever called me of course.

Anyhow we received a recommendation for a local guy from the Nextdoor App from our neighborhood and we called him and told him the issue. He just left my house and discovered that the outdoor unit had some wires or plugs unplugged. He just plugged it in and tied it up. He didn't even charge a dime for this. He went ahead and did a full inspection for free. We will be signing up to his year service which is $250 for two units twice a year which is cheaper than the $40 a month I was paying a couple years ago for their service for only one unit. My wife already filed a complaint with this company so we will see what comes of that.

I hope nobody else has to deal with what we had to deal with.

One of the most unethical companies I have ever dealt with.  They lie about what is wrong, replace parts that are not bad and conduct aggressive up-selling.  Add to this they are the most expensive company.
When asked for the bad parts, the tech looked surprised and then when out to his truck to get parts he passed off as the ones he replaced.
Do not use this company, you will regret it.  They do not honor their coupon specials or the guarantees.  Their 100% Customer Satisfaction is nothing but BS.
As for the customer service, be careful on what you say.  They are recording you.

Unfortunately, I spent the weekend trying to find the problem with my system.
I decided to call A#1 as I could not DIY.
Hugo Torres serviced our AC system today.
Fortunately, Hugo found the problem quickly.
The technician was very professional and informative.  I was charged the service call and payed for additional Freon...but was not charged for the original problem (wiring).
I will be calling A#1 Air for future repairs.
I will request this technician in the future.

I had a technician come over to check my Ac and why it was not working. He proceeded to tell me that a part on the motherboard was out and we would have to replace it, the next day we found out from them that it would cost upwards of $900 to fix. Despite the fact that it must have been the recent outage that affected the a.c., it was not covered under the paid warranty we have with a1 air, or the one we made with them in 2016. The technician took $20 just for coming out, thanked me for my service to this country, and left. For a whole HOT TexaS week we sat with NO AC at all, not even the fan running. Finally, today we had someone from WILSON come out, and within 10 minutes, I kid you not, the tech was able to AT LEAST get the fan working. So the technician from a1 air could have AT LEAST mercifully fixed the fan. I ended up paying Wilson only $129 to fix the problem when they came out today. This, a1 air, is not a honest company, and I do not recommend them.

I've used these guys a few times now. Upon the first time, it was due to my main ac was leaking water from underneath. After an inspection, we found the issue pretty fast. It needed a shop vac and one wasn't readily available. The tech picked up one close by and came back and finished the job. Did a 100% inspection and found my 14 year old builder installed ac had some issues. Priced out fixes and discussed in detail the remedy for it all. From gunk on my blower blades, to a motor being dry as hell and about to go, a previous ac tech cross wiring my condenser which caused the fan to blow the wrong way, and a few other issues, I just decided to get a brand new unit. And then the day of install. Such nice work. Took all day to install but everything was done nicely. Had my first check up on the new unit today and found out this is a family run business and the check up was included in their paid up front yearly service. It does save you money and if you need any repairs it does help on cost. Thanks for being one of the best AC companies around. My electricity bill and myself couldn't be happier!

Scam artist! Liars! Thieves! Unethical business practices!
I scheduled an appointment for a $49 hvac tune up and condenser pad leveling quote for an investment property we just purchased. When the guy from A#1 Air, arrived he quickly (like a couple minutes) looked over the units and stated we had a non operable heat pump. He also stated the unit had mold, an incorrectly wired thermostat and sparks coming from the inside unit. We were not right next to him to witness the sparks but did smell a burnt odor in the air, which made us inquire as to what he was doing. He kept clicking the breakers on and off as if he was trying to make something spark, which seemed fishy. He then proceeded to tell us we ultimately needed a new inside and outside unit. He also said at bare minimum he could bypass the non working heat pump to run the system only off electric heat, replace the thermostat, replace the heat kit, clean the mold out of the air handler, and replace the condenser pad. All of which totaled up to $3805 in repairs.
Of course we refused to pay for any repairs and immediately called another company referred to us by a trusted source. The new company came out today and inspected the entire system and determined everything was in good working order. The technician also stated we do not have a heat pump!!! He found it amusing that the Tech from A#1 Air told us we had a heat pump and that it was not working... again our system does not have a heat pump!! There is also nothing wired incorrectly in the thermostat and no need to replace it. Come to find out an incorrect setting was on the digital thermostat... wouldn't be surprised if the A#1 Tech did that to make it appear defective. There is no mold in our unit and again nothing wrong with the unit!!! The new Tech stated all we needed was a cleaning of the exterior unit, a new pad-leveling to the exterior condenser unit and an over flow sensor on the interior drip line. All Totaling only $450.
A#1 Air are completely unethical, liars and no one should use them ever!!!

I had contacted the previous AC Service company that I used about three years ago when I had some condensation overflow in my hall closet from my HVAC unit. I had to leave a message, and after an hour and a half of no reply, I called A#1. I talked to a person right away, they had a tech in line and out to me within a couple of hours. While I have not done a huge amount of research on pricing for AC repair and service, I feel that the prices quoted for my repairs were pretty fair. However, the strength of my 4 stars is based on the tech, Justin Admire. Very professional and super friendly!! I'd use these folks again!

We used this company 3 times this month to fix our water hammer issue.  The 1st guy came pointed something without ever ask any additional question or background from us. Then we told him about the high water pressure, and need to change the PRV. So I DO NOT think he really try to investigate the issue. Later after he installed the water heater extension tank as the PRV inspected OK, the water hammer was still there;

Next we asked the company to send plumbers back again. 2 guys showed up. This time they offered to cut a hole in the dry wall  for 600 USD, but not sure if it truly can fix it. We turned down this idea.

3td time, finnaly some professional guy come. His name is Duan Glenn. He fixed our faucet cartridge issue, and at the mean time, he found the water hammer was due to we did not fully open the water valves/angle stops  under faucets and toilets.

I would hope could have Duan came the 1st time instead of other 3. So if you need use this company , be sure to ask for Duan Glenn, who has 25 years plumbing experience and do think before do anything!

I have two units. A few years ago they both went out the same day! How in the heck does that happen? I called A#1 air and they came right out. My problem is that the tech told me that unit #1 needed a capacitor replaced (which is common) but that it would be $300+. I used to work on A/C back in the 80s so I know it shouldn't be near that much, but I was desperate to get it fixed.  The tech told me that the price was high because it was a super-duper capacitor with a great warranty. Whatever.
Unit#2 had no Freon and the tech pointed out a leak in the high pressure line. There was a kink in the line inside the condenser unit by the compressor. How does that happen inside the condenser unit when it has never been worked on before. Strange and suspicious. I was charged over $600 to fix the leak and evacuate and re-charge the system. It took less than an hour. I'm not sure about evacuation procedures these days but it used to take me hours with a vacuum pump to get the moisture out. So this visit cost me over $900.
A#1 called me the next season to see if I wanted some maintenance done. I complained about the over charges and asked to be contacted about it. Nothing.
So anyway, unit#2 stopped working today so I decided to look at it myself. It seems the capacitor is out (bulging and very low voltage output). After researching online to get the part I find that they cost about $15-$20, so I am confirming that I was overcharged before.

I initially had A#1 air come out because the company I was trying to use before (Dana Hilliard) was too busy to look into the warranty for my system and I had trouble scheduling an install of my evaporator coil.

Initially they sent out Mike Stoll.  If this review was purely on him he would be getting 1-star but the people who came after him redeemed my faith in A#1 Air - I think he is just a bad apple.  I point blank asked him if my part was under warranty and he not only said no but went into a long explanation why it isn't.  He also tried to upsell me to a whole system - worse than a used car salesman!  I may be a female but I'm a very intelligent female.  Don't try to fool me.  For my older or not as savvy customers - if Mike Stoll comes to your house beware of what he tells you and get a 2nd opinion.  This was already kind of my second opinion since Dana Hilliard had been out before so I knew what should be occurring.

Luckily the next weekend I had a different crew coming to install the new coil - Cesar and Chris R.  They were great and nearly immediately found that the part was under warranty.  Cesar was the one to finally install the part.  They were awesome and A#1 Air should look for more stand up guys like them. If this review were purely for them they would have 5 stars.

I LOVED our technician Aaron. He was amazing and took his time to inspect every detail of our A/C unit. I called A #1 air for a tune up because my family loves the air conditioning in the summer and we can't live without it for one minute. I seriously can not say enough good things about the company and technician. They called me the morning of my appointment to confirm, sent me an email with a picture of my technician (because who doesn't want to know who they are letting into their house) and were very respectful of my property. Thanks for the great service A #1 Air. We will be long time customers after this great experience.

We called for the 59$ checkup in April 2017. Our unit is 3 years old , no problems just wanted a checkup. The technician said we needed 3 lbs of Freon. He tried to replace the capacitor but we told no, & paid him $160.00.
The next our unit was blowing hot air,
so they said they would be out asap. It was a Sat  & we had a wedding at 6. We waited all day, I kept calling & they said they were coming. We missed the ceremony, but got to the  reception. I had my grandson come wait for him, my grandson called & said we needed a part replaced & he could do now because it was a weekend & they wouldn't come back til Monday. I told him no but said he had already put 300$ worth of Freon. i told him i would call  the office on Monday. He said what the 300, I told him I didn't tell him to do it, he shoulda asked me first. So Monday they called about the bill, my husband told he wasn't going to pay it, there was nothing wrong with our unit. We just wanted a checkup. They did credit us, so we don't owe them. It is now Nov & our unit is still working fine. They also told me we had a leak & the Freon wouldn't last a week. I think they 1st guy let the Freon out & then they come back & try to sell other repairs. I think their technicians are under pressure to sell maybe they work on commission.

This company is out to get your money only. They claim to care about you and your family. But the truth is that they want to get everyone to overpay for parts and labor or convince you to get a whole new system. They told me my AC unit was old and used r22 Freon that it was going to be discontinued. Which is true but I got a second opinion and they told me they will still have that same Freon just recycled. Knowing that we had just financed another project at our home. The still insisted that we needed this new system. Not to mention the part that was broken on the unit was quoted at $400. The other company that came out charged me only $150 for the same part and for the labor. We had no AC in our home for 2 days all because I thought I need a new system. They didn't even suggest replacing the part. Went straight to  point to selling me a system

After having an issue with my AC, I called A1 Air. The tech told me my unit was 11 years old and therefore not under warranty. He indicated that there was a major leak in the coil so the whole unit would need to be replaced to the tune of $4000 to $5000. I declined the new unit and instead filled it with $600 worth of freon as a stopgap measure (and because I didn't rust A1 at that point). I then called another company, which came out and informed me that my unit was still under warranty. They ordered a new coil and another part that appeared to be going out and installed them the next day. The total cost for this inspection and repair (including the parts and freon) was $600. Clearly, A1 lied about the age of my unit in an effort to sell me a new one, even though the old one could have been repaired AND was under warranty. Steer clear. I've heard many similar stories from my neighbors in the last month.

We recently had a new AC unit installed. During the meeting with the sales man we asked about deals, and specials. During the install our unit was not level  (have pics) and was told that duct cleaning was needed. I called the sales man Patrick and said didn't I ask if we needed a duct cleaning. The very next day I called the customer support line which at the time seemed willing to help (8/9/18), the last call I got back was sorry we don't have an update, cause the person in charge is sick. I feel with a company so large and local 1 person being sick should not hold up a follow-up as to why the sales agent didn't tell me about your summer sale that I heard on the radio. The diaken 18seer for 14seer pricing and payments of $75/month. Very disappointed in there lack of customer care and service when your website and alleged positive customer comments say your the best, it's clear I'm having to post because I don't want anyone else to be decieved. Next step 8 on your side.

If I could give zero stars, that's what they earned. This company is a bunch of liars. Their technician came out and quoted us around $600 for a replacement relay and I'm pretty sure that did not include labor. He also mentioned that it would be a good idea to replace the entire unit because the relay wasn't the only issue we were about to encounter. Replacing our unit would cost thousands. We paid the appointment fee and decided to think about our options as our unit was still working, just not very well.

After several months, the problem continued and we eventually lost all heat. We went 3 months without fixing the problem because we didn't have the money to replace our unit and we didn't want to sink all that money into a unit that was about to die. This winter has been mild, so no heat was manageable, but with the summer months coming, we had to get it fixed.

My husband convinced me to call a different company out. When the technician arrived, he commented that our unit looked like it was in really good shape. It took him about 2 minutes to tell us that our relay was dead. He then got the fan running and told us he had to order the part and would return the next day. When he came back, he fixed the unit and told us the cost was $200. He also mentioned that we would get several more years out of our unit, so no need to replace it anytime soon. He also mentioned that A#1 Air charges the highest fees of almost all companies in the area. He said they will replace good equipment for high dollar amounts just to make money. They pay $100's of thousands of dollars on advertising, so they need to make back that money.

PLEASE call another company! These people are liars!

My carbon Monoxide detectors when off with a screeching sound.. Called on Sunday and they got here on Tuesday. That I can understand and appreciated they came out.. I have an all electric home and after calling 911 the fire department checked and not problem. Okay good so far.. The electrician said I needed new ones which I agreed to also.. I have never bought these detectors and when he told me $225.00 each, I though wow , those are more expensive than I would have though.. I was sort of stuck as he had the old ones down and had new ones on his truck that he could install immediately.. No waiting days for detectors to come in. I agreed to let him install.. After he left, I felt a bit stupid to spend that kind of money on two detectors.. Got on Amazon and low and behold, I could get the same detector for around $40.00 each.. Lesson learned ... Stop and think before you hand over that credit card..
