Holt Plumbing was established in 1988 in order to provide honest, dependable service without the pressured sales that often come with chain plumbing companies. We are locally owned and operated and have been serving the middle Tennessee area for over 20 years.

Erik began Holt Plumbing in 1988 after being unsatisfied with the customer care he was seeing in the plumbing business. He worked alone for the first couple of years and over time built a company with many seasoned employees that has stood the test of time in the Middle Tennessee area.

Spent 10 min in my apt with a suggestion to get new washing machine hoses. Charged for 1.5 hrs of labor. Called 4 different times, each time getting an assurance of getting the bill fixed. Never happened.

UPDATE: I did finally hear I would get my money back. However, it's really annoying and a waste of my time to have to call so many times and have nothing done. I was aware of what was promised to my husband(our money refunded) but the 3 other times I called I was promised things that never happened. So excuse me for not believing their word, since they don't even know how to mail an invoice.

Thanks for sending the pictures.  I talked to Chris again and I had misunderstood what he said.  The water that ran into your cabinet was coming from a connection in the cabinet.  It is connected to the drain under your neighbors sink.
Chris did try to cable the drain from your neighbors side but could not do it. That is why he came over to your side. He found the water in your apartment when he got there.

I beg to differ...he did not try to snake my drain. He did all the work from your side ....

My questoins: Chris's story/David's misunderstanding, are different from my neighbours.  And more importantly, if he did snaking from my neighbour's house, what makes it ok to break my piping and flood my underlayment, and not pay for the damage?

Jamie with Holt Plumbing did a great job on our laboratory sink in the quality control area of our plastics manufacturing company.  The sink and countertops are a special chemical, corrosion resistant material and the sink drain is a non standard size and configuration.  When it failed and started to leak I called for service as I could not find the correct parts.  Jamie came out evaluated the problem and agreed it was an unusual design.  Although he didn't have parts available that day he continued to research the issue and returned on a later date with several options.  He tried a few different things until he got a great fit and with no leaks we are back in business.  I really appreciate his tenacity, professional manner, and attention to detail.  Thanks Holt Plumbing!  You will be my go to service provider from now on.

Holt Plumbing has helped me on numerous occasions with a variety of issues (installing a washer box, repairing a water heater, and locating a leak) at a rental property. They've been responsive, reasonable, and very communicative. Couldn't ask for much more!

Like many of the other reviews say, don't use Holt Plumbing. We called them when our shower water flooded our washer, figured it was a clog. One of their techs confirmed there was a clog in the main line and he came out here THREE times and never fixed it. He claimed he cleared it each time yet after each visit, something was actually WORSE. Another plumbing company came out and was able to clear it and video inspect to see that it was in fact cleared. Holt's tech never had or even mentioned a way to confirm it was cleared, he never pulled anything out with his cable and just guessed that he had it. So not only did he not fix it at all each time, he made the problem significantly worse, affecting all other sinks that were previously fine. On top of that, he was unprofessional, nicked my door and cabinet, tracked mud and dirt everywhere, was more interested in socializing than doing his job, and was overall incompetent and disgruntled. He obviously didn't care about properly doing his job and put in the least amount of work/effort possible. Holt has a recording when you call that talks about their standards and handpicking their team members--so if this is the kind of tech they thoughtfully select, wow! Our experience in contrast with a different company was night and day--they offered expert advice and opinions, were professional, competent, fixed the problem and were able to confirm it was fixed through video inspection, which also gave us a helpful understanding of the health of our pipes. Holt refused even a partial refund for their lack of job completion and competency. Pass on Holt.

UPDATE 4/23: This review is being updating to reflect that David Holt reached out to me directly and apologized for this incident and is issuing a refund. While their service was a headache and unfortunate, I appreciate his personal call and how they are rectifying this incident.

I have known these guys for 25 years and have come to expect superlative service and quality workmanship.  I had a plumbing issue yesterday and they came out when they said they would did the repair for a fair and reasonable price and were cleaned up and gone in no time.  I believe they are the best plumbers in town.

Wow, these guys are as good as their reviews. Had to do a full install on two vanities. Showed up on time, price as advertised, no horrible upselling, great advice, great work, and saved me much $ over quotes from high profile plumber$ around Nashville.  I will always use them!

Varying degrees of customer service from rude and smug to pleasant and accommodating depending on who picks up the phone when you call.  They can't guarantee an appointment time to save their lives.  They are the preferred plumbing company of my complex so I keep giving them another chance.  I've worked with three Holt plumbers over the years and I usually find them to be capable and skilled.  The office management, however, seems to be a real mess.

Honest, friendly service. We had a leaking outdoor hose faucet and needed to move a water heater. Holt Plumbing was the only company that gave us a fair price up front so we wouldn't have to guess how much it would cost. We checked with several contractor friends of ours and the pricing they gave us was very fair.

The technician was very friendly and super helpful. They not only fixed the leak from the old faucet but installed a new faucet in a much more convenient location.

I'm giving one star because you can't give anything less than that. Hired Holt Plumping to put a gas line into my house and they did a horrible job. They put the piping in too high on the house even after instructing them to install it lower so that it was less visible. They had to take it all down and redo the pipe and they even admitted it didn't look good and apologized for doing it that way in the first place. They drilled, or should I say attempted to drill holes in my brick exterior to secure clamps around the pipe and the pipe was still hanging off the house with broken screws in my brick (which I have pictures of). I was told by the city that the line had to be pressure tested before they would set the gas meter and the technician said he had had never heard of that and basically charged us for 8 hours of work (and they weren't at my house for 8 hours) and left us with a job not complete. We had to call the company and talked with David, who is supposedly a manager, and he sent the same guy back to my house to do the pressure test, secure the pipe to the house properly and cement in the holes that they left all over my brick. Needless-to-say, the tech could barely look at me having to come back to pressure test a line when he said he never heard of it. The pipe still remains attached with broken screws and he just smeared cement all over my brick, so now it looks worse than if they just would have left it alone. They left the site a mess...broken screws, clamps and blue pipe sealant spilt all over my aggregate sidewalk. The tech even had to ask me for a bicycle pump and the manager said he was with him when they loaded the truck with the air compressor, what a joke. The manager didn't apologize for the lack of care taken to our property or offer any sort of reimbursement for the terrible job that they did. Based on our experience, I can't recommend Holt Plumping for a gas line installation.

Got told between 8am and 12pm...had to call around 12:15 to see where the technician was and they asked if I'd be around after 2:00. Had to reschedule for the following week... Was told between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. as the first call of the day but when 9 a.m. rolls around, I had to call again and see where the technician was. I was told he still had to go to the doctor's office and then he'd be on his way. Luckily, they rerouted another technician to come out pretty quickly after I got frustrated...when the technician finally got there and looked at the issue, he didn't have a clue how to fix it. After a few calls from him to more veteran plumbers, nobody knew how to fix the issue and we were told that we simply have to live with it. And I still got charged for the service call, even after all the rescheduling and failure to address the issue. I'd go elsewhere.

Well, we are repeat customers. They have done a good job for us every time they come out.

On this last water heater emergency, they actually showed up a few hours ahead of projected.

The price was communicated ahead of time via text. They asked for a few photos to show the heater. It did take them a bit long to get back to me after I asked for the quote.

Both techs were friendly and knowledgeable.

They got the job done efficiently and made sure the system was bled properly.

They worked neatly and safely.

They are on our list every time we need a plumber.

Wow, what a horrible experience with a plumbing company. I was contacted directly by them to rebuild my backflow unit. The technician, Michael, comes in with an attitude and a medium size pair of channellock pliers . He let me know that he could not remove the cap and that my initial estimate of $245 was no longer good and that the new price would be $795. That if I did not agree he would shut my water off and that I will have to pay $85 just for his time. I asked if I could get him a pipe wrench so that he could thoroughly try to remove the cap and that if I can help him break it free to which I was told he knows what he is doing. The cap can easily be removed with a small amount of effort. Price gauging and threatening of clients is not acceptable. I did call company and give them the opportunity to make it right before posting the review. I will now have to pay Metro water for a reschedule. If I can rate this experience a 0, I most definitely would!

Just terrible. They've failed to show on us three times now. No explanation... we say please come anytime after 10am, by 11am they say we will be there within the hour, still not there after 12pm, at 2pm they say we are en route, at 4:30pm they will no longer answer their phones. Worst service ever.

Holt is the worst!!!! Called for my tankless water heater to be repaired, they charged me just over $1000 and came out on 4 different occasions and I still have cold water. This place will rip you off. Then I called a professional who informed me my tankless was never going to work because it's the wrong size for my home and he did not charge me anything for the visit.

They repaired my faucet in shower after two trips which was a cost to me and they was called on about water leake above my condo which they couldn't find and is still leaking so had to call another plumber. Not pleased with them

We had a hot water leak in the slab.  American Leak Detection uses sound to locate leaks.  They located the leak under the slab between the laundry room and a closet on the other side of the laundry room wall.  They recommended opening the floor and walls in the closet, because it would be cheaper than destroying tiles in the laundry. Holt sends the proposal, which is way over priced, and says they plan to rip up the laundry room floor. I tell them to start in the closet and they disagree and try to overcharge me for starting in the closet. I allow them to break up my laundry room floor and they can't find the leak.  Once they move into the closet, they find the leak right away. They needed two guys and should have only been one. They took all day to complete the work. Then the concrete patch to refill the hike in the slab was terrible. They didn't leave a smooth surface, so I had to chip it out and re-pour to get a smooth surface ready for tiling.  I never received any apology or compensation from Holt.  As commented before never use this arrogant, expensive, poor customer service, slow, unprofessional company. Hiller plumbing is the way to go.

Best experience I could've asked for!! They were extremely prompt and professional and made me feel super comfortable! Also extra points for troubleshooting the crazy electrical and plumbing setup in my very old house and installing my garbage disposal in record time! 10/10 would recommend!

I contacted holt plumbing company to replace plumbing from my basement to the sewer after I had a sewage back up. They came out to inspect and told me the job would cost approximately $3,000, which was less than I had been quoted by another company. So, I agreed to work with them. They came out and dug up my yard and then called me to tell me the sewer was three times further from my basement than they initially thought and so the job would cost nearly $10,000. I could not understand why they did not know the distance from the original inspection (the other company to inspect and provide a quote clearly did). I told them to stop work and I would need to go with the other company. Not only was the other company's quote cheaper, but they offered financing (which Holt did not and I did not have cash available to pay for a job more than three times what I anticipated). They left me with my yard dug up and did not do any work that was of value to me. I paid the other company in full for the job (no surprises). Holt then billed me $2,000 for the time spent at my property. I emailed with them several times explaining why I wasn't going to pay anything more than an initial consultation fee. And they sent my account to collections, creating a problem for me going forward with additional home repairs. I do not appreciate that Holt lied to me, attempted to extort me into overpaying for work, and then screwed me over when I didn't comply. I would never work with them or recommend them for any project.

Zero stars.

At my rental property the tenants called with a back up water issue in the bathroom.  I called Holt upon a recommendation.  They came out, did extensive work declared the issue resolved and billed me over two hundred dollars.  The next day my tenants called back and it was backing up again.  I called Holt they sent a crew back out, declared the problem resolved and billed me another two hundred dollars and change. This time I was billed $400 dollars for the call, additional $200 for the camera they ran through the pipe to see exactly what the problem was.  As it turns out there was a crack in the main drain going to the street discovered by their camera.  WHERE WAS THE CAMERA WHEN I WAS BEING BILLED EACH TIME THEY CAME OUT AND RESOLVED MY DRAINAGE PROBLEM?  The first two or three visits they couldnt have solved the problem if they had wanted to.  So the customer gets charged for each visit whether they fix the problem or not.  It seems the idea is they will eventually get it right and you continue to rack up bills until they do.

Did I mention I had a heart attack during this?  When calling for the third trip out, Holt insisted I must come to the property for them to do anything.  I had been home from the hospital for 3 days post quadruple by pass surgery, but if I am going to get my tenants taken care of I had to come.  I did.  My wife drove me over there and I sat in the truck and ok'd them to run the camera to see what the problem was. After discovering ...oh the main line is cracked Mr Lowry.....   So I was expected to pay $1300 in previous  bills that were never going to fix the problem then another $2700 (the estimate they gave) to actually fix the problem they said twice before had been fixed.

Look, anybody can miss one.  But to charge a service call to come out time after time to fix the same problem isnt good business practice and to say the least Holt will get no more business from me and I will steer anyone I come into contact with away from them.  (I hired a separate company to fix the main drain.  Holt didnt offer nor would they take any of the service calls off any of the original bills).  Maybe thats the way plumbers operate, but none of the ones I have asked since this occurred.

Tomorrow I will write a check to Holt Plumbing.  It will be in excess of $2000 for work they never completed.  According to their lawyers, this must happen or I must face the consequences.  I had previously sent them approx $700 to cover a service call, materials and the camera charge.  That seemed fair to me but their lawyers didnt seem to think so.

I just completed my cardio rehab yesterday.  My health is much much better.

I have never had this type of problem with anyone in the trades but Holt Plumbing has given it a black eye.

Just had work done for my elderly mother.  The plumbers were kind, knowledgeable and went above and beyond the call of duty for her.  Prices were spot on and service was superior. I highly recommend to anyone who has any kind of plumbing need for themselves or family.

I called Holt to have them install a new drain plug in my jacuzzi tub and a service agent was sent out to provide a free estimate for work needed to sale the home. Low and behold, the technician showed up to my address and assessed the issue. The technician stated that this was a two man job that would require cutting a hole through my garage ceiling in order to replace the drain plug. Additionally, he did not arrive to my home with the equipment needed to properly fix the issue. Then he went on to say that he would have to reschedule the appointment when another technician was available to assist with fixing the issue. I expressed to the agent again that I needed this work done quickly. An appointment was set and the agent did not show up on time and I called Holt to cancel the appointment. Then, I called another company who came out and fixed the issue in 30 minutes on one visit. A few weeks later, I received a bill from Holt for services not performed as they have ill trained staff not well versed in customer service. I called their office and asked to speak to the owner and a lady by the name of Lisa hung up in my face when asked for clarification of the bill. I immediately called back and she put me through to the owners voicemail requesting a call back. To this date, I have not received a call back: but follow up letters requesting payment for services not performed on a call for a free estimate i never received.

Unbelievable to me that in 2020 this company still asked me to wait for four hours 8AM to 12:00 for a promised technician and they don't even call until 1PM.
I already missed a day of work in a time where I need to work and not even a curiously call. Never again will I call this company. I choose to do business with people who do what they say they're going to do.

This is best plumbing in town.
I was an emergency because my both restrooms are clogged for a couple days.
I called Holt and schedulled 2 days later which is the earliest one. But, the next day morning Holt called me and schedulled the day morning and shawn came and broke through in 30 min.
The price was reasonable and very kind and explained so well. That was phenomenal service. Two thumbs up.

My apartment complex contracted out work to unclog my drain with Holt Plumbing. I came home yesterday to find a cooking pot filled with dirty hand towels and pipe crap inside. Apparently they found it appropriate to dig through my cabinets and find a pot to catch the crap coming out of the pipes. And when that overflowed all over my carpet, they thought hm, might as well use her white dish towels to clean it up. So angry. I'm not sure what professional company in their right mind would think this is okay?!?! Ridiculous.

I recently used Holt Plumbing's services to unclog my kitchen sink after several failed attempts to do the work myself.  Shawn, the technician, was punctual, courteous, and professional.  He diagnosed and fixed the problem quickly, and even told me some tips about things I could do to prevent further issues in the future.  Charges were transparent and reasonable... will certainly use them in the future and would highly recommend!!!!

Holt plumbing was called to my apartment complex to diagnose a leak in the unit below mine.  They came into my apartment, cut into my walls without permission, and told us they did not know where the water was coming from.  Right before the plumber left, he said he would be back to try to figure out the source of the leak.  Instead, he contacted the apartment manager saying the leak was from our master bathroom.   Not only was this incredibly aggravating and dishonest, it caused an onslaught of further problems.  Eventually, we had another plumber come in (from Morton's) and accurately diagnose the problem.  I will never let Holt plumbing onto my premises again.

FANTASTIC plumbing company in Nashville! This review is not only for Holt plumbing but also for Shawn. We needed a sewer line checked/cleared and had a few other companies come out to give estimates. They were all outrageous in our opinion and for the amount of time involved, they seemed to be taking advantage of their customers. Holt however, was very upfront and reasonable with their pricing, no surprises. I always appreciate that but thats not the best part. Their service tech Shawn was a MASTER plumber and was very personable, honest, pleasant and informative. The job was handled quickly and effectively and any issues were resolved simply and with the customers financial interests in mind. Thanks again Shawn for helping my family get through a couple of rough days and reassure us that our home wouldn't fall victim to something like this in the future. This was everything and more I expect from a local company looking to do good local business. Bravo!

I had used Holt once before and was pleased so I did not hesitate to call them when I had an issue with one of my toilets in November 2020. The plumber they sent each time was friendly and polite. I called in December within the warranty period about the part they replaced in my toilet in November   When the toilet was not being used the part would come on and make noise for a few seconds and then cut itself off. I've called four times and have been given a time slot each time that a plumber would come   The last time I called I was told the plumber was in my area and I would be the next person he would see. The plumber did not come. I give up. Holt does not stand behind their work

To respond to comment below, that is false. Had Sarah returned any of the 7 calls to me or my contractor before 350  on Monday, she would have known that I was paying for it. Further it took 4 hours to get her to revise the contract (which was just a simple name change). Sarah is completely unprofessional and needs training.

First off, let me say that the people doing the actual work are fabulous. They are polite, hard working and explain all the issues... The administration staff however is horrific and I would give them negative stars if I could.  Firstly, they overbooked themselves twice and my contractor had to call a number of times to get them to show up when they said they would. Similar to Elizabeth N.' and Hunter c's experience below.  

Lastly, we had a complete backup happen over the weekend, they came out promptly Monday morning... identified the problem and I asked for a quote that day to get everything fixed Tuesday - my mother has health issues and this was creating a major problem. Their administration staff ignored my (and my contractors) calls multiple times - specifically Sarah - until 10 minutes before they closed. She then proceeded to be incredibly unprofessional every time my contractor and I tried to get on the schedule for Tuesday.

They finally fixed it today, and again, the actual workers are great... maybe invest in some training for your office staff as they clearly need it.

This company is a scam. The customer service is awful and they argue with customers. I left a few messages and it took a month for them to respond for the amount charged for the unprofessional service. Problem was not fix and they charge a ridiculous amount. I had to find another plumbing company and the problem so fix right away.

Absolutely appaling customer service and they are crappy plumbers to boot!
They fixed a leak a few months ago that was a huge project where they cut open the wall (could have been justified I don't know). Then it broke while we weren't even home and they told my landlord I did it. When he demanded how that happened their story changed to a faulty part. So I called yesterday at 1pm for an emergency leak and it's 6pm the next day and the plumber took off again without telling us when he'll be back projecting a fix time of tomorrow. My landlord says he will never use them again and he's not paying either!  Oh and when I called the office the lady got rude with me because I asked what the status of the job was. Just go anywhere else and use any other plumber but them or you will be very dissatisfied.

Had appointment scheduled after 2:00pm and the day of scheduled service was called by a woman asking if they could come early around 12:30.  We told her that we could not meet at that time, as the appointment had been set for a week for after 2:00 pm .  She then called back and left a message at 1:45pm that if we did not call her back in a few minutes they would have to reschedule .  Called her back at 1:56 pm informing her that we have been home waiting for their plumber to show up and she informed me that they had taken us off the schedule .  This woman was very starchy and not very accommodating at all and really just wanted me off the phone .  Would not recommend their plumbing business .  Need to hire different PR representative instead of starchy Martha.

Had them to come to my home to unclog the bathtub.  They were successful and jammed the lever for the plunger.  When they came back out they told me it was my fault, that I did not know how to operate the lever.  The plumber stood in the tub and yanked the lever up.  I was charged a full house work on the second call as the plumber said it was my fault.  When I called the office they said they would call me back and email me about the situation, which they never did.  On visit #3 they were asked to caulk the tub and did a horrible job.  Will never use again, will not recommend to anyone.

I give one star only for the courteous plumbers who showed up. I wish I could give more, but the manager seems to be running a con job there.

I received an $800 water bill AFTER they supposedly repaired the fountain. I wanted to pay them when the work was done, however, the manager (who I suspect is the owner, since I was denied phone access) said I could get an affidavit from them to take to the water company to dismiss the overcharge BUT I would have to pay Holt Plumbing first.

I paid the $1,000 for the 3 plumbers and multiple visits to repair the fountain, in order to get the affidavit, and the water company said Your plumber should know that we don't do that. THEN, the next month water bill comes and it's $500 (it should be about $150). I asked the Holt Plumbing manager to come back and finish what they started at no further expense to me, and he never called me back.

From start to finish they took care of my plumbing problem and got me able to shower, wash clothes, dishes.  They were on time, prompt, and friendly.  Highly recommend.

This has been a miserable experience. They did a decent job replacing a hot water heater, but on 4 separate trips out to service a sewage pump in the basement they have completely failed to repair the issue. When I called them the first time I made a point of saying that I needed the sewage pump to be completely fixed, no matter what it took. They assured me they were experienced in fixing these types of pumps, but after 4 trips there is still sewage gas leaking out into the basement. I've spent $650 so far and now on the fourth trip they say that the lid to the tank is rotten and they want me to spend another $585 to repair that. I had Hiller Plumbing come out and look and the guy said there's nothing wrong with the lid at all.

The worst part about dealing with Holt Plumbing is that once you have an issue, they go completely into silent mode. No one will return your calls or emails. When I do talk to someone they then say things like well, we don't guarantee any work on those sewage pumps anyway. This is after the fact. They neglect to tell you that before they send you a bill for the previous work that didn't fix anything.

James came out to fix a clogged pipe for me that I knew what part of a larger issue.  After repairing the clog, he gave me suggestions of how to take care the larger issue.  We decided what was needed and he came back to take care of it.  He was thorough, answered all my questions and even helped with some minor things I needed taken care of.  I highly recommend Holt Plumbing and will absolutely use them again!

I utilized the after hours services for a plumbing issue. I had attempted to make a repair myself that obviously went wrong and left water going everywhere. I called and with an hour Donovan showed. The customer service was excellent. He explained my issue, why it happens and repaired it. As an added bonus, he took the time to educate me about what he was doing and how to repair it myself for the next time. (I obviously will call Holt again). I have used other plumbing services and was disappointed at the pressure to sell you additional services. I will use Holt again.

Holt plumbing sent a plumber to our grandmother's house. We had been cleaning it out to get ready for an estate sale. The tech noticed 2 guns we had there and asked my mother if ahe would sale them. She said no they were being handed down. As the day went along hr asked my mother to run to lowes 5 minutes away. Total 15 minutes and she returned with the part he needed to finish. He askes her to leave a review that said he rocks. Instead Im here to say he's a thief. Both guns were missing 10 minutes after he left when my mother went to the back of the house. Never ever use this company for anything. If I could give a zero star I would. Don't be the next victim.

Holt has been a chore to deal with nearly every time, from the scheduling to the tech being unfriendly, leaving a big mess and often just putting a bandaid on the issue to just be done with it quickly or even making the problem worse so that they have to come back. Would not recommend. One tech caused a mini-flood in our garage and just left and then I could not get anyone to answer the phone since it was just after business hours. It seems like they have about 2 guys who are friendly and know what they are doing and the rest of them just want to half do the job and get out of there as fast as they can.

Exceptional service around the clock, at a reasonable rate. Holt plumbing is a great company to do business with in a emergency situation or planned renovation. Very pleased with the team at Holt
