Mr. Baker has failed to make repairs on projects completed in Dec of last year.
The lumber used for our deck is #2 in grade not #1 grade lumber which has many areas of splitting which I pointed out to Mr. Baker upon completion of the deck project in which he replied you have a year guarantee.   This wood looks like it came off a salvage yard. Many of main support post of the deck have large cracks and splits. I have requested for Baker's to come by several times of the last few months to repair our deck's gates (3) that were sagging and would not close properly. On Wednesday August 10, 2016, Mr. Baker came by with his crew and did some repairs to the gates and placed wood putty in a few of the board that were split and a small portion of the over-countersunk nail heads. The gates do not open nor close properly again and I cannot open or close it without the latch jamming. The wood on the deck is poor quality. It has deep fissures (cracks, splits, and shaking and knot with holes falling out). The putty used for repair looks horrible and is quick inexpensive temporary fix' just to try get us past our year warranty. Most troubling is the deep over sank nail heads which are both unattractive and have damaged every top rail, floorboard and bottom band of our deck. In several areas there are overshot nails where the nail points are protruding. The loose popping and misaligned floor tiles of our sunroom are also in need of a repair/replacing. The French doors that were installed were not the correct doors for our project and are too short. The doors installed were for replacing an existing slider type door not for new construction. Our exterior light fixtures are loose and sagging. Outside electrical receptacle is loose and falls off the wall after unplugging any cord from it.
Mr Baker was provided with a detailed list of needed repairs and photos and a video were provided as well via email
video of deck is viewable at:

youtube.com/watch?v=hEPE…

the deck was recently stained in order to preserve as much of the integrity of the wood as possible but wood is poor quality and the nail hole damage and fissure remain visible.  Our stain did not stick to the areas that Mr. Baker put wood putty on.
Baker's home improvement refuses to stand behind their one year warranty.
As of August 2017, Baker's Home Improvement has not completed any repairs and I have begun legal action

My two experiences with this company were both negative.

First was when they first started their business. Got an estimate for some work, and some things got left off the estimate so I called them about it. Mr. Baker's wife/receptionist took the call and said Mr. Baker would call me back. He didn't. I called again, was promised a call back by a certain day. A week later, still no call. Both times Mrs. Baker's main goal seemed to be to get me to look at their website to see all their wonderful work, rather than to address my own concern with my own house. I called again and got voice mail. Left a message. Still no return call. I gave up on trying to get a return call, and hired someone else who did return calls.

Fast forward a few years to today. I had a house fire and need some rebuilding done. I decided to give Baker a second chance, giving them the benefit of a doubt because they were so new last time. I called yesterday and Mrs. Baker set up an appointment for Mr. Baker to come out and look at the house. I asked her if the estimate was free. She said it was.

Today Mrs. Baker called back and said that because insurance is involved, Mr. Baker won't give a free estimate unless I have already chosen him to do the work. He wants to charge me $250 just to look at the house. Regardless of whether insurance is involved or not, who in their right mind would agree to hire a contractor BEFORE the contractor has even looked at the house and gives you his opinion on what needs to be done and how much it will cost?

I'm getting several estimates before I decide who to hire. This is the responsible way to hire a contractor. NO other contractor has charged me for an estimate or required that I choose them before they'll give me a free estimate, and those others are reputable companies with A+ BBB ratings, and they are aware that insurance will be involved. What Mr. Baker is doing sounds totally shady to me. Needless to say, Baker's Home Improvement is out of the running for this job!

Still mad as hell. A couple of years ago we had a complete kitchen and bath remodel in our home where, I feel, is the most unprofessional, junkiest rushed through job I've ever seen. I say rushed through because that's how it looks but in reality it seemed like it took them forever. Drug it out to try and make more money off the elderly. *They only put one coat of paint on everything instead of two (wich we requested). *The drywall seam tape in the bath has been bubbling and peeling off since about a month after they left. *The flooring wasn't stretched properly in the kitchen and has has bubbles throughout it especially around the corners and through a threshold from the kitchen to the laundry room. *When they ripped the old floor out and totally rebuilt the entire floor from the back door, through the laundry room, guest bath and the kitchen to the threshold of our dining room they didn't level the new floor to the same height of the old floor in the dining room. By not matching the two floors it created a ledge and where they laid the flooring down over that ledge it's now ripping straight across from one door facing to the other. *They didn't secure the dishwasher when they installed it so now every time you open the door the top front of the dishwasher falls forward and the top rack rolls out and makes it difficult to load or unload the bottom rack. I've both dropped dishes and have hit my head numerous times on the top rack when it rolls out. *The grout on both the backsplash in the kitchen and the tile around the tub and shower flakes, chips off and now there's crack lines between the tiles from where the grout wasn't installed correctly. Just by looking at it you could see where it had holes between the tiles where the grout didn't get completely filled in. With it being a guest bath, that shower has only been used 5 or 6 times in the past 3 or so years since it's been put in. *Where they didn't seal around the countertops when they installed them and we had to go behind them to fill in with the caulk. *We didn't realize they were going to trash the brand new special ordered toilet, the pedestal sink with the new Price Pfister lavitory sink faucet we were planning on keeping that toilet in that bath, reusing the faucet and taking the sink to install at our cabin. (I was able to save the faucet and now have it in my bath at my house next door to my parents house that was remodeled). Not knowing my parents wanted to keep the toilet and the sink they had removed it off of our property before anything could have been done about it. *We've recently had to change out that cheap Dime Store discount toilet they installed. It's never worked properly since they installed it. *Since my parents weren't able to be home most of the time due to my father having to be at dialysis several times a week and multiple Dr appointments throughout and I had to go out of town for almost two months on business we weren't there to check on the work they were doing. *We gave them specific instructions on entering and leaving our premises through the gate. They were to insure our dogs were put up EVERY SINGLE TIME they opened the gate then let them back out once their vehicle was on the other side of the gate. They were told numerous times to make sure the dogs were up because one of their dogs would get out and take off for days at a time and my dog would usually follow. Sure enough, after being reminded every day, every time we'd leave the house, my father would remind them about the dogs and they didn't follow the directions and in turn killed my dog. While I was out of town, My parents were almost home, right behind the truck that hit my dog and killed her. They watched her die and there was nothing they could do to save her. Only a pitiful, non-heartfelt I'm sorry. I know you're sorry. (In more ways than one). They better be glad I wasn't home when they killed my baby. Rescued her and raised her from a tiny little puppy. I loved that dog more than any other dog I've ever had and I still grieve over her to this day. *If they can't follow directions about making sure the dogs are up how can I believe they can follow directions of how to install a dishwasher? *I wouldn't hire them to build a doll house nor dog house either one. By the time I got home it was too late to have them correct their mistakes. I guess they hurriedly and half way finished their job before we could give a full inspection. *We have talked to several other people and have heard similar horror stories from them as well.

Used Mr Baker to repair Some water damage.. I am out of town most of the week so I was not able to be there to supervise and gave him access to the house. The work was sub par and there was several items that could not be accounted for when his crew left.
Mr Baker was very charismatic and made a very good first impression but I would never use his company again.

Improperly installed siding caused water to run down onto and into the main posts at garage door at the shop.  Only noticed after main horizontal was bowing.  Baker sent out a termite company and said he'd repair it if it was determined water brought the termites in.  Guy working for termite company told us it definitely was water, then termites.  His report to Baker that it wasn't.  (hmmm, this was the company Baker sent out....) Baker would not come look, didn't care about the pictures we took.  Takes no responsibility.  After this problem was noticed, we see other potential problems.  A contractor got atop the roof and said the two roofs were not installed properly allowing water from heavy rains for go back into that opening.  It needs flashing.  That is why occasionally the shop floor will have water on it.

I will never recommend Bakers Home Improvement and will never use them. Called them a few weeks ago about comeing out and finding a leak underground. Talked to Mrs. Baker and she had Mr. Baker call me.....we talked over the phone and I wanted my husband to talk to him so he said to have my husband call him and if they couldn't determine the general area of the leak over the phone then he would stop by on his way home that evening. My husband called him and got his voice mail and left him a message and never heard from him. Mrs. Baker had told me it would be about  $125 to come out and that would include finding the leak but not fixing it. I called back about a week later and told her nobody ever called my husband back. That's when she told me if they had to get equipment to find the leak it would be $500. I told her I would have to check with my husband and call her back.....about another week later I called her to go ahead and have them come out and locate the leak and she told me she would have to check and see when they could come out......another week later no phone calls returned. My husband called and talked to Mrs. Baker again and she blamed it on me that I said to wait. I called her back needless to say and reminded her that I had talked to her 3 times and the last time they were supposed to set up a time to come out. Told her just to chalk it up as a loss. Very UNRELIABLE.

Scheduled an estimate for kitchen remodeling. The Baker truck showed up, pulled in the driveway, and immediately turned around. I called the office and was told He's not interested. I asked how that could be when he didn't even come in the house. I was then told it was because Baker had previously bid on a job at our home and didn't get it. I ask, what are estimates for then? Why not just come in, look at the job and then tell me the schedule is full? The only reason I called them back for this job was that the previous bid was handled professionally. Not this time. Unprofessional.
