HVAC? What's that? Oh, this homeowner journey is an interesting one. I can truly say I've only thought about HVAC services once before in life. In the expensive slum (again, review forthcoming) I lived in in Miami Beach (rent higher than my mortgage), I suffered for days without A/C. After fighting with my landlord and establishing that I 'wasn't making it up,' (yes, I'm serious; gah, that place is vile) the HVAC repairman (on his fourth visit to my home, after previously 'not finding' a problem) discovered that the internal temperature of my apartment was 83 degrees. He fixed it and changed my thermometer from the 1970s slide variant to a digital one. That day, I learned the lesson of the importance of a good, nay, a great HVAC guy.
Enter Jeremiah -- a great HVAC guy (who also knows a li'l sumthin' about plumbing).
Buying a home has many tricks and turns for the uninitiated. As pretty as the windows and high ceilings are, spend some time considering the gutters and HVAC. Jeremiah is as honest as the day is long and takes extreme pride in his work. When my initial home inspection discovered a problem, Jeremiah swooped in to action. He discovered that a sub he had working for him hadn't done something he was supposed to. Rather than making excuses, he apologized, went to work, fixed the issue, checked, and double-checked that everything was alright.
He didn't stop there.
He came by my house at two other times to do spot checks and ensure that his handiwork was perfect. Not good, perfect. He gave me his card and personal number and told me to contact him if ever I have a problem. He went over my systems, displays, thermometers, and a host of other heating/cooling issues I'd never considered but, as a new homeowner, needed to know something about. Coils, pumps, large machines, and what not can be extremely intimidating. But in a climate with muggy heat and chilly temps, you need to make sure that you have a system that works, works well, is dependable, and installed correctly (with 3 failsafes to ensure you won't get flooded). Knowing that Jeremiah is on my team, I feel confident and secure that my HVAC needs have been and will be met. I know I'll never suffer a week of sweltering internal temps again. Looking for a HVAC guy? Jeremiah's your man.
