Efficient AC, Electric & Plumbing Electrician
This is a reply to Efficient, who replied in November to my September 14th complaint. My problem with Efficient became a 2 part issue:

1. Failure to repair the Air Conditioner

2. Failure to respond to our repeated phone calls, online communications, and hard copy letter addressed to George Drazic, President and Molly Drazic, CEO in a nearly two month period to discuss the bill. The November Yelp post is the first peep from Efficient in the face of all those attempts and appeared just one day after I posted a bad review of Efficient on the BBB website (to be followed by a formal complaint with BBB).

But first things first: As I suspect that the posted Efficient Yelp response is mostly for the benefit of not discouraging future customers as it was a public post rather than a private attempt to even look into our complaint, let me post the report by the AC repairman who came a few days after Efficient and fixed the whole thing for $141.60. I encourage readers to compare it to the elaborate description of the hopelessness of our AC system posted by Efficient:

The vents basically had to be adjusted to restrict so much air to be pumping into the living room area, so that there is more forced air going into the bedrooms. The vent in the living room was basically allowing too much air to escape. So it was not an AC issue, but more of an older system setup type issue. The vendor was able to install ductboard baffles and said that should be all that is needed to make the airflow push into those rooms better. Since the tenant described it as the living room stays very cold, there is obviously plenty of cold air getting in, it was just a matter of controlling the air flow.

Unlike the detailed diagnosis described by Efficient, which I again and most importantly invite the reader to compare to our happy ending, what was communicated to us, the owners and decision makers, in a phone call by the tech was much simpler. I repeat: We were told that the system was 25 years old and beyond repair, too old to even attempt a cleaning AND THE ONLY SOLUTION WAS TO INSTALL A NEW AC SYSTEM. When we suggested an approach much like what was actually successfully done, the tech was very dubious and sounded unwilling.

But for the sake of analysis of Efficient's performance, let's assume that the tech did suggest to us the $500-$600 fix (which he didn't) and we went along with it because we were over a barrel and already $99 into it, we would have grossly over-paid for a solution that might not have even worked. We suggest that readers review the Yelps sorted by worst reviews first and see if there isn't a pattern.

A List Handyman Electrician
I hired A List Handyman (aka Danny) to assist with some finishing touches on some DIY projects in my house, namely installing a new medicine cabinet, replacing some broken subway tiles in my 1926 bathroom and replacing an outdated doorknob on a closet door. Danny, as he promised, is a consummate professional and spends more attention to detail than I could ask for. The finished projects exceeded my expectations and I will definitely be hiring him again for future projects. In and above his craftsmanship, he is thoughtful, considerate of home and pets, clean and trustworthy. He was in my home for 3 days and never once felt like I needed to check in on him or his progress. He's awesome!

1st Home & Commercial Services Electrician
Where to begin. Today was a holiday, and first thing this morning, both toilets in our house stopped functioning entirely. 1st Home and Commercial Services was the only plumber I could reach on the phone, and Casey answered before 8am. I told him we had an emergency and he had someone at our house at 8:58am.

Another man named Casey was who showed up at our house and he immediately set to work trying to diagnose the problem. The only thing is that our plumbing turned out to be a total mess and something of a mystery.

The whole ordeal ended up being more complicated and difficult than anyone anticipated, and both Caseys ended up coming out together to get things cleared up. Overall, they collectively worked from 9am to 6pm on a holiday, managed to locate the problem and clear it, and even after all the time and effort they put in, the price was shockingly affordable. Both Caseys were extremely courteous and worked very hard to help us to be able to stay in our house tonight. We can't thank this company enough for coming through for us!

SALT Plumbing Air & Electric Electrician
Should have checked YELP first! Be cautious to not be misled. I was told on the phone that you pay by project and not by hourly or materials along with separate trip charge. I was good with it. Gentlemen showed up, I explained the problem that the oven hood light kept shorting and one wasn't working. They quoted me a price to fix...half way through they showed me problem was that the light units had some issues but then told me the quote didn't include the parts to actually fix the problem. I said the reason I signed off on the project was everything should be working when completed. I even tried to give them a win-win solution by asking for trip charge refund and would pay the separate quote which was higher than trip charge. Their sales manager refused...so to yelp it is and any other social media forum to educate people to not to trust what their appointment person says.

Jon Wayne Heating & Air Conditioning Electrician
We recently moved to San Antonio and purchased a home with an old AC unit that quickly went out. Considering the summer heat, I called a few contracters to give me quotes, and I must admit I was looking forward to Jon Wayne because they seemed reputable from their commercials.
A salesman showed up pretty quickly to diagnose my home needs. He spent over two hours at our house, which we weren't expecting, but gave me peace of mind that he was doing a thorough job. He gave me quotes that were WAY higher than the competition, but he pitched me the Jon Wayne sales deck that talked about how honorable the owners are... and I fell for the pitch like a sucker!

Long story short, I was happy to pay a premium for an honorable company but was sorely disappointed. The installers put in a smaller unit than we were told we needed from the extensive diagnosis. I tried telling them there was a mistake, but the salesperson rushed to my house to assure me that the smaller one is what I needed. I tried to explain him the ethics about a one sided change to an agreement post execution... but he wasn't getting it. He obviously just wanted to get the job closed out.
His manager eventually offered to cut some money off the amount to compensate for the smaller unit that was installed. Not wanting to deal with them anymore, I agreed. However, they still submitted the full price to the financing company!

Now I'm wasting even more time disputing the balance!

I'll never use them again, and I WARN ALL OTHER CONSUMERS TO GO WITH A DIFFERENT, HONEST COMPANY!
