Parker & Sons Septic Tank Pumping
I needed to replace my AC but also had an electrical problem as the old AC unit had damaged my main circuit breaker.  I give 4 stars for the HVAC work and zero stars for the electrical.  The HVAC crew and the electrician were supposed to arrive at the same time on a Saturday morning. As it turned out the electrician didn't show up until 4 hrs after the AC guys finished the installation and only after I called 4 times to get an ETA.  When the electrician finally arrived he refused to install the new main breaker claiming that I needed a permit from APS and that this couldn't be obtained on during the weekend.  So I was stuck without AC all weekend in 110 degree heat.

I ultimately arranged for an electrician from another company to install the new breaker first thing Monday morning but then had to call Parker and Sons 6 times to get the HVAC guys to come back and complete their installation.  That didn't happen until after 5pm; in the interim I was again stuck in a non air conditioned condo all day waiting for the company to provide an ETA for the installation.  Adding insult to injury was the Installation Manager suggesting that it was somehow my fault that my main breaker had failed, telling me that he didn't have a crew available until the next day, and then finally acting like he was doing me a big favor by sending a crew at the end of the day.

I expected better from a large company like Parker and Sons.

ACE Home Services Septic Tank Pumping
These people will take advantage of you being overheated to take your money.

Background: The previous owner / person who installed the AC unit had bought a 10 year warranty with ACE that specifically said that it was transferable between owners. So when the unit stopped working 6 years after installation in the middle of summer, I looked them up.  When I saw the bad reviews online, I looked up general prices of common things that would break so I some sort of base knowledge when they showed up (which I would highly recommend you do no matter who you call).

Scheduling:  I called them Monday and scheduled an appointment between 11 and 1 on Wednesday (the earliest they said they could be there) and they told me the technician would call about 1/2 hour before he came.  I got text on Tuesday confirming that the appointment was between 11 and 1.  So at 12:30 on Wednesday, when nobody called me, I called them to ask when I should expect them.  The lady on them phone quickly said that my appointment was between 1 and 3 and them hung up before I could respond.  I was confused by this so I called again 5 minutes later and got a different lady who said my appointment was between 2 and 4 and that I should expect the technician near the end of that time frame.  When I pointed out that my appointment was supposed to be between 11 and 1 and that it was exactly 99 degrees in my house she said there was nothing she could do and then hung up.

The actual visit:  3 hours, 45 minutes later than the scheduled appointment in a now 101 degree house (4:45 PM), the technician finally showed up.  He ran some diagnostics on the unit and came back to tell me the fan motor was out (I will give the tech credit for this, he was correct).  He then told me that it would be $3,000 to replace the motor and then continued to inform me multiple times that it would be a really good idea to replace the entire unit for the low low price of $12,000 even when I specifically told him several times that I wasn't looking to get a new unit (FYI, my house is around 1,100 sq ft, this price is total BS).  When I showed him the warranty, he informed me that the warranty would require a $40 transfer fee, be shortened to 5 year warranty (which happened to be same as the manufacturer warranty on the unit so combined with the transfer fee, this makes no sense), and would then be invalid since it had been 6 years since installation.  At this point I was very sweaty, completely fed up with them, and knew they were just trying to take advantage of the extreme heat to charge me significantly more than what these things were worth

Afterward: I got a second opinion.  I then got the variable speed motor replaced for around $1,200 from someone who actually came when they say they would and did not keep trying to sell me a whole new unit
