Best Sump Pump Installation in Anchorage AK
So let me tell you my experience with MM over the last fe months. It started with some faulty wiring with my old system. It was memorial day weekend, I know right, it couldn't have happened at a more inconvenient time but I digress. So I happen to come home early from a camping trip and when I got home I noticed that my circulation pump was running. Didn't think anything of it till the next day and found that not only was it still on the system was radiating a lot of heat.
So I called MM and was told that one of their service people will call me back when they were on their way. Matt (owner) called me back within minutes and instead of just coming out and charging me a hefty fee, Matt did kind of a triage with me over the phone. What he was doing was trying to save me money by helping try and figure out what was going wrong and maybe fix it myself. Unfortunately we weren't able to figure out over the phone. Matt came out and was able to find the problem right away. It was a wiring problem that if left any longer could have been pretty disastrous (meaning possible fire).
Fast forward a month to June and now I'm in the market for a new system (mine needed updating was 15 years old and it was a Munchkin). I attempted to get quotes from three different companies one was the company that did the original install, one was considered the top rated company on the Home Finder app and of course the third was MM. Well to cut to the chase, the first two failed to follow through with their quotes (meaning I never got them!). Once I decided to go with MM I called to set up the install date told them what I wanted and thought I was all done. Well a few minutes later I get a call from Matt and he lets me know that the water heater I chose although very good was very expensive and excessive for what my needs were and offered and alternative which would in turn save me $600! Of course I went with his recommendation.
Here it is August and just had the install only took one day (sooner than projected). Matt and one of his employees were very professional and thorough. They did an outstanding job and I am very pleased with their work. I've attached some photos of the install with before and after pictures.

I was forced to use Discount because of HSAhome warranty. The initial visit went fine and Scott accurately diagnosed a broken heater. He told me a number of ways my new heater could be installed and wasn't decided on which way they'd do it.
After the estimate was submitted I was notified I would have a large out of pocket cost. This was not all Discounts fault as HSA has ways of making sure they cover as little as possible due to verbiage. What made me ultimately decide on getting another contractor was the lack of answers for some of the costs in the estimate. They quoted me 2-3x what venting costs, as well as attempting to gouge me on a scissor lift rental and complications charge. The technician explained to me that the complications cost was an undetermined amount that was necessary for the technician to work from and orient themselves to the equipment. Apparently Discount technicians do not know how to work from or operate scissor lifts and the charge is something that is unquantifiable. After pressing him on what the charge was for the technician said its just what it costs and he didn't have the exact costs of what equipment or supplies would be, even though those should be transparent.
He then proceeded to try and convince me that they don't make money on these jobs because of HSA flat rates and that I was holding him hostage by asking him what costs were that I would have to pay for out of pocket. The lack of candor and caginess on costs is the main reason I would never recommend anyone use this company if they have a choice. They didn't seem to mind that half the cost would be out of my pocket and weren't remotely interested in helping me find ways to mitigate that. Their costs are what they are and you should just accept that at face value.
