HISTORY
Established in 1948.
For over seventy years, Mattioni Plumbing, Heating & Cooling, Inc.'s dedicated employees have proudly served the Chester County, Pennsylvania area with their knowledgeable, courteous, and professional service.
A.F. Mattioni & Sons Plumbing & Heating was founded on the Mattioni family farm along the (back then) very rural Route 113 outside of Downingtown, PA in 1948. The original barn which housed the company still stands! However, a newer, larger building on the family's property is the current home for the third generation of Mattioni’s to run the service-oriented business, but their commitment to quality has not changed.

Big thank you to Stephen and his team. Our 35 year old AC unit starting acting up with the couple hot days we had. Since we have no desire to be sitting in July/August with no AC and on someone's list to get it replaced we decided to do it now. Mattioni was not the cheapest and not the most expensive. We were sold on his professionalism and willingness to answer all our questions. The day of install went as explained. They showed up on time and finished the job around the time they and estimated. They took care to treat my home with care and completely cleaned up when done. We are very happy with the final results and happy to support local business. Would highly recommend Mattioni!
I had a heat pump installed and it is not heating as promised. They will not admit that it would never work properly. The upstairs was warm and the downstairs was 8 degrees cooler and the weather outside was 50 degrees. The thermostat was put in the wrong place and they kept on insisting that I didn't kmow what i was talking about. The customer service rep was rude and kept twisting my words. He had no intention of rectifying the problem. He blamed me. Also, they ruined my oak stairs.
Also their wirkmanship is shoddy. They ran a wire in my basement that was so crooked it looked like a snake.
They offered to put in a new oil furnace at twice the cost of another company. Charlatans.
This company is unscrupulous. Do not use them under any circumstances.
I cannot recommend Mattioni at all. I've already observed a combination of dishonesty and exploitation, which means I simply cannot trust their word as 'experts' anymore.
Our pilot light was off, but we had no idea. Our thermostat was off, HVAC was off, and we were dumbfounded. We called Mattioni on a Saturday; they first try to diagnose the issue over the phone, but ultimately say they need to come out. They come out and after a $125 service call fee, the HVAC tech notices the switch is off, and simply needs to turn off. He asks whether the operator asked me that before they sent him over; I say no. He's surprised nobody asked me to check this switch, since they should, but says he nevertheless has to charge us the $125 to literally...turn on a switch... It was a 10 minute appointment.
Months later we had to replace a kitchen faucet. We call Mattioni. I ask how much this would be. The operator explains 'every faucet is different' and they cannot give pricing over the phone. They need the plumber to come by and 'diagnose' the 'faucet issue'. All of it sounded like a load of crap, but we needed a replacement asap, so we have them come over. I figure the price will be appropriate given we are also paying a $60 service fee just for them to make the trip. They quote us $429!!! For a FAUCET! I wasn't home at the time, but I literally rushed home to ask the plumber what the $429 was for. He said its a FLAT FEE FOR FAUCETS! Wait, so you mean to tell me the operator could have just given me this information BEFORE i had them come out?! He explains thats the 'national average' for faucet installations.
Look, my husband and I own multiple properties and have had to hire contractors for a variety of issues, faucet installations included. The most I have EVER paid for a faucet installation was $200. $429 for a faucet is insane. That is not normal pricing.
With their service fees, Mattioni almost forces your hand into using them. If they quoted us $429 and we said no, they'd leave but we'd still be on the hook for that $60. So while I understand someone from Mattioni is going to respond to this review and say we gave you upfront pricing -- that's not the case. I asked the operator TWICE what the price was and was lied to -- I was told they needed to send someone out (for $60) and only THEN could I get pricing. But if there is a flat fee for faucet installations, they should share that ahead of time so that customers like me could look elsewhere.
I'm shocked by the lack of honesty AND really disappointed. I had hoped Mattioni was reliable and reasonable, and I had hoped we found our plumber, but we will need to keep looking for other options.
I do not recommend using Mattioni.
Over 18 months ago I was in the hospital when my water heater pilot light went out. My wife and son couldn't get it reignited without me so we called Mattioni Plumbing. They came out and reignited the pilot light and we gladly paid them $500 to have hot water again. The convenience was well worth the price. Obviously my wife expressed her appreciation. I wish this is where the story ended because my review would be positive but unfortunately that's not the case because Mattioni Plumbing told us that our water heater needs to be replaced ASAP and quoted us $3,000 for the job.
Fortunately I did not believe Mattioni Plumbing! When I returned home I did a little research and a personally gave the unit a nice deep cleaning with a shop vac our original water heater is still running great! The job of cleaning out the combustion chamber of my gas water heater consisted of removing two small screws and took 10 minutes.
Unfortunately I went out and purchased a new unit and put it in storage expecting that the original unit would soon crap out as Mattioni Plumbing said it would but that has not happened. I am not having the new unit installed until the original dies but that could be a while based on how nice and warm our water is!
My advice to Mattioni Plumbing is please be more careful before you make recommendations. I understand that a leaking water heater needs to be replaced ASAP but a simple deep cleaning and relighting a pilot light is just simple maintenance so be careful making misleading statements in the future!
P.S.
Out of sheer morbid curiosity I am waiting for the old unit to die before the new one is installed. My guess is that it will be a while! Mattioni Plumbing should be embarrassed.

STOP COLLECTING DATA UNNECESSARILY! You sent an experience plumber to fix my kitchen faucet, he doesn't need to go downstairs to get the information of what water heater and cooling machine we are using! He doesn't have to put into the information that what kind of system we have, it's like invading privacy! If he is coming for to fix kitchen faucet, just stick with this job and doesn't have to check other system and model numbers! Plumber was fine , just THIS COMPANY MATTIONI IS COLLECTING DATA!
Very professional outfit. Wendell showed up and saved the day.
I joined the VIP program
Do not use this company--the prices are outrageous and they do not stand by their work.
They charged my $540 to install a kitchen faucet in December. I provided the faucet (brand new, Moen Essie), and it took the technician a little over an hour to install. $540 for an hour of work!! But wait, it gets worse....
The faucet came a little loose in June. (This is only 6 months later, mind you.) So I call Mattioni up expecting them to come and tighten it with no charge. Well, they inform me that there will be a $60 fee for coming out. I'm not happy about that, but okay. Today, a technician came and tightened some things in the faucet. They charged me an additional $120 for a faucet diagnosing fee. Are you kidding me? They installed it less than 6 months ago and it took the technician about 1/2 hour to tighten some things. All said and done today, it came to $180.
Here's the total math if you're curious. They installed a kitchen faucet for a grand total of $720. Does that seem reasonable to any person out there?
I know that companies need to make money and pay their employees, I'm 100% for that, but this is price gouging.
Again, I would highly, highly warn you against using this company.

I do wish there was an option for negative stars.
Another disastrous experience which had to be rectified by another company.
Buyer beware- This past winter, Mattioni told me our heat exchanger was cracked, needed to be replaced for over $7k, and made a big production of turning off our gas heat for safety reasons, knowing we had an infant in the house. We had two other companies come by for quotes- they both said the crack didn't exist and turned our heat back on, instead of trying to win a big job. Always get a second or third opinion if you use this company! We had been loyal members for several years but no more.
Terrible experiences with them and my neighbors have had same. Overpriced, rip off, do not respond to complaints with understanding or refunds. Poor communication between customer service, owners and the actual workers. Don't ask me to call you, Alison, b/c I already explained the situation to you exhaustively. Please credit me the money owed.
I would probably give them 2.5 stars and break it down as the following.
Service - 4 stars
Response - 5 stars
Value - 1 star
I had an semi-emergency where we had just moved into a new house and the shower head broke in our master shower. Additionally the Kitchen sink faucet sprayer wasn't working so I figured I would get the faucet replaced at the same time. I called and they were able to get me on the schedule within two days. I supplied the Moen fixtures/parts and they said they wouldn't warranty them - which I am totally fine with and completely understand. I would also understand if they needed to up-charge me a little for supplying my own fixtures as I am sure they make some money off of supplying fixtures.
So here is where things go off the rails - the job took 2 hours and they charged me $850! So that breaks down to over $400 per hour for labor!!!
If it wasn't for the situation where I needed the work done ASAP because I had just moved in, I probably would have not agreed to the quote. Now that we are settled and are in a better place to manage issues that come up with the house, the next time I need plumbing work, I will likely go elsewhere.
WOMEN BEWARE!!! I called Mattioni Plumbing and Heating for an issue we were having with our tankless water heater. Our heater tripped a few times, so we wanted it to get looked at and I contacted Mattioni who advised it would be a $60 charge for a diagnostic. When the technician, Norm, arrived he asked me what the issue was and I showed him the water heater. Once he saw the heater, he immediately told me that he doesn't recommend tankless water heaters and they can be costly to work on.
He proceeds to go over their VIP Program for a good 15 minutes, as I am telling him multiple times that I don't want that and I just want to know what the problem is with the heater. He finally opens up the heater and calls the customer service line of the brand to figure out what the issue is. He was on the phone with them for a maximum 15 minutes and found out it could be the oxygen sensor is bad. Norm, then comes upstairs and sits at our island to precedes to tell me that just to open up the system it would be at least $700 in labor before we even get to that sensor and if that is even the problem. Then for the next 2 hours turns into a sales guy and is trying to have me spend $5,000.00 on converting to a regular tank heater because it is less work etc. I continue to tell him that I will have to talk to my husband which is not the answer he wanted to hear, telling me that he can only give me this deal right now for there, again VIP service. After me telling him No he starts yelling at me about why I don't have CO2 alarms in my house. Norm keeps on pressuring me on making a decision on what I want to do right there and then. I tell him I just want him to leave and that's when the bill comes. He wanted to charge me for $439.00!!!!! I asked him what this is for, I thought it was only $60 for diagnostic? You didn't do any work, just sat here for 2 hours giving me a sales pitch and he couldn't answer. He kept saying he wouldn't leave until payment was received! Being a female, I feel like I was taken advantage of. I have a stranger in my house yelling at me telling me he's not leaving without his money. I then contacted my husband who went straight to the company's location (Downingtown). No manger was available to speak with him (surprise surprise). I received a call the next afternoon (Jeff), and I feel like he really didn't care and just was asking how they can make my experience better with them. When I asked him what the $379.00 (marked special plumbing) was he could not answer and stated I don't know.
We called a local plumber and here the system just needs to be flushed out and cost $200. I can't believe this company is still in business. I have also contacted the BBB and reported them.

They did a great job at fixing my problem. Just be prepared to be up sold on things that you do not need done. The techs were even joking about how they could get a down payment on a boat for what they were trying to sell me. They really need to do their joking out of earshot of their customers. Not professional at all.
I am so sorry I have utilized this company (twice!!). The plus is that someone comes right away, and the service people are clean, polite, and respectful. The prices are well beyond outrageous. They do a very hard sell on their products and forced me into a service contract I did not want. The faucet they installed last year was very expensive and the Descaler they installed was far more costly than the the most expensive recommended costs on line. I hope to God never to need their services again.

I have used Mattioni Plumbing for several years to service my plumbing and HVAC needs. They are constantly professional and honest in their assessment of my issues. They always give me personalized attention and never try and take advantage of the situation. Their prices are fair and the service is always done right. They are the only plumbers I trust in Chester County!

We called Mattioni to come to our house to troubleshoot some bathroom lavatory leaks that were going on. We also wanted an an estimate for a new humidifier, to change out the lavatory handles that had been installed backwards, replace a utility room faucet, and to do a general inspection of all the plumbing In our house. We have plans to add a new bathroom to our unfinished basement and he had good advice about that.
The humidifier went in without a hitch! The handles on the lavatories were changed without a problem! The new utility sink faucet that was installed was a dream!
My lavatory leaks though...these had to be tinkered wIth several times., on several different days. You are thinking, WHY FIVE STARS????
This is why! Our plumber came out several times, in a very timely manner, to make things right. He could have easily told us that this was a worse repair than what it was. He was unfailingly polite, and optimistic and got the leak problem solved.
Everyone that I've talked to or dealt with at Mattioni Plumbing has been very profesdional and helpful. I look forward to calling them for our basement bathroom project because I am sure that they willl do it right, and more importantly, if there are any unforeseen problems, THEY WILL MAKE IT RIGHT!
Called them
To have a cracked/split outside faucet repaired that was located inside a room with my home heating unit. What should've cost me a few hundred at best ended up a $500 job as i was told a frost free faucet was the way to
Go... pffff. What doiknow about plumbing. When
My husband heard what was done he was not a happy camper as it was totally unnecessary and said i was taken advantage of.... that said i wont
Be calling them back. Females beware...
We called them because they were one of the local companies who were authorized to repair American standard heat pumps. We had so many issues with American standard and they worked with us to get a replacement unit from the company. Their service people have always been professional. We have a service plan and called them for a plumbing issue even though we usually use another company. All the techs have been very professional. Their prices are a but high but with the service plan there is a discount. Only caveat: they try to upsell services. We just politely say no to added services and all is well

Mattioni plumbing was prompt and skilled professionals. I had them install a toilet and sink faucets in my bathroom. I thought the charge of $1100 was excessive, I even purchased the toilet and faucets and contracted for installation only. Get an written estimate before committing to the work.
Mattioni is our go to for our plumbing, heating, and air conditioning needs. We have used the company for years without any problems. We recently had our heater and air conditioner replaced. Trey and Bryan arrived early and worked for the entire day to get the job done. They were polite, helpful, and highly knowledgeable. They explained the features of the new thermostat to us in detail.
I highly recommend Mattioni Plumbing to my friends (and you too).
Never dealt with the plumbing department, only the Cooling & Heating. John and Johnathan came to the house to install new AC system and remove the old one. They were on time, friendly, efficient, and were done by lunchtime.
I couldn't have asked for better service.
My husband and I's experience with Mattioni has been a nightmare.
We lost all water pressure to our home, so we called them in. They told us we needed a new well pump, and when we pointed out leaky pipes, they told us they would replace the pipes for free. They took a $1500 deposit from my husband, and told us they'd call the next day to set their next appointment. Upon not hearing back by late the next afternoon, my husband called and was told they didn't know we wanted the service...despite having taken $1500 the day prior.
They come to replace the well pump, but don't replace the pipes which they insist are not a problem. On the way out of our driveway, the technician backs into a brand new retaining wall we spent over $5,000 to replace less than a year ago, and then runs over our flower bed and breaks a rock wall by the end of the driveway. We call Mattioni and are told they will pay for the full repair of the wall that was damaged.
The next day, the pipes that were supposed to be replaced for free, but we were told were not a problem, start spraying water all over our washing machine. We call again, so Mattioni sends out technicians to replace the pipe, and they charged my husband over $350 for it, DESPITE the fact that we were told they would be replaced for free days earlier.
We also have sent in several estimates for getting the damaged wall repaired, and have received no word as to when that will be handled. In the meantime we have rain pouring into a hole in our wall. We are incredibly dissatisfied with the service we were provided, and quite frankly would have significantly fewer things to deal with around the holidays if we had just called someone else.
Tl;dr Mattioni came out to replace our well pump and in the process, charged us an extra $350 on top of the $3,000 we already paid for a service that we were told would be free of charge, and then damaged our property while leaving and isn't repairing it for us despite insisting that they would. They are terrible at communication and don't take responsibility for their damages.

10 stars would only be fair for the level of expertise and customer service provided by Mattioni. We have four zones of heating and on their first visit they efficiently made their way through four units.
Not every skilled technician can explain the work to clients - my first experience with Mattioni leads me to believe that customer service is as important to this company as is technical expertise -
I would never use them again. My 6 year old hvac system was without incident and ran perfectly until they came out for a spring maintenance package last year. Next thing I knew, no AC. I called the company that had originally installed the system and was told there was no coolant left. They couldn't find a leak anywhere in the system and thought it was suspicious.
Their service people must also get paid a bonus or get a cut from any up sell. While he was in my basement he also noticed work I needed on my hot water heater (practically new). Said I would need a BRAND NEW one. When I asked about estimates for outdoor spigots that were leaking, the replacement estimate was high! He also said I needed some pressure valve on my water main valve. He gave me several estimates for varying degrees of plumbing work to be done that was separate from the HVAC. For everything he was recommending ($4500) to just one spigot ($300). By the way, just had both spigots done by a local plumber for $300 vs Mattioni's $600. The guy himself was nice and polite enough. They get some great reviews, but I don't get it. The process felt slick to me.
Unfortunately, after years of service by these folks, we've hit the end. Their rates (or should I say mark-ups) have become completely unaffordable. We just had a $250 or so kitchen faucet (Lowe's, Home Depot, others) sold to us and installed by them, and it cost us OVER $775! When I spoke with Tom S. he tried to convince me that if the tech had stayed at our house for 4 hours it would have been the same rate. PS, Jordan wasn't close to being here for 4 hours TO INSTALL A KITCHEN FAUCET! And to think, this was a discounted rate (!!) because we signed up for a contract.
C'mon guys, you've gone too far...way to far for this (once loyal) customer!

They get one star because they showed up. The technician was nice diagnosed the problem then called his supervisor to come and check this diagnosis. Then they hit you with an astronomical estimate to fix the problem. I'm not uninformed to what an air conditioner unit should cost for a mobile home I guess they thought I was!! I contacted a family member and friends who are building contractors all said the price was outrageous. BEWARE of this company they over charge. My mistake was not reading all the other reviews before calling them!!

Awful in every way. More expensive than others and inexperienced workers with unnecessary suggestions. Even customer service is rude and hangs up on you when you say you aren't interested in their service plan. Not customer oriented in any way.
Update: A woman named Ginger from Mattioni called ME today and asked if I wanted a service plan so I am in your records. When I said I wasnt interested today, she slammed the phone and hung up. I tried calling her back but no voice mail.

Very disappointed, we purchased a new home which has been serviced since 2005 with this company as service records on unit indicate. We have HVAC concerns which are not to building code and they cancel appointment hour before scheduled time.
This company came to my house in early Sept to exam an inefficient air conditioning unit and ended up creating a leak in the cooling coils so that all coolants leaked out within a few hours. The cooling no longer works after their examination. The unit end up has to be replaced completely costing us 10s of thousands $. The representative, Jim, called and promised a waiver of $75 service fee, which never happened. Beware when dealing with the company and their promises.
Technician came out (or should I say salesman) to look at a bathtub drain. Quoted over $2,000 to repair it. Scam artists. Stay away. Trust the negative comments.

I got a call from Mattioni about a special they were offering and the timing couldn't have been better. I was due for my maintenance and I didn't have to think about it!
They were on-time, the tech, Fran was very courteous and explained everything he was doing thoroughly! I even signed up for their maintenance plan that is a monthly recurring fee instead of a big charge once a year (now I don't have to think about it)!!
I've used Mattioni in the past and I'm glad they're back working on my HVAC system and any of my plumbing needs!! Highly recommend them!!

Charged almost $700 for a simple hot water tank repair. (expansion tank and pressure relief valve) Parts were about $70 if bought at Lowe's. They state they charge by the activity which amounts to about $350 per hour in labor given the tech was here less than 2 hours. They also appear to charge twice for certain activities (i.e. draining down the building). This was an independent line item on the invoice and also included in the description of one of the broader activities performed. Lastly, they promote a VIP program for about $200/year so you can save a little money during their visit and get some additional value out of them down the road. (i.e. HVAC tune ups, etc.) I will use this over the next year and hope that it changes my perspective on this company's cost structure. Otherwise, I could see using them for a complex problem but for simple things you may just want to call Joe the plumber. Note: this review is not intended to be an opinion, but rather a factual recap of my experience to help guide others who may need hot water tank service.
Had a positive experience with HVAC rep who was professional and knowledgeable. He inspected our heating and cooling and we would recommend him highly.
I called and explained the problem I was having with the duct installed ozone generator that is supposed to purify the air. In short, I explained that we noticed a mild chlorine smell post-installation and that my research showed it likely is produced by these units. The field tech shows up and says that they sometimes hear this complaint with the equipment. He further states that he just needs to switch out a component. Two things, he should have known why he was coming and should have brought the replacement component with him. He didn't and now another appointment is needed. Second, he says that other folks have complained about this, but he never mentioned that during the sales or install process [the same fellow sold it, installed it, and came to repair it].

I never had service performed by Mattioni, and I never will. I called and scheduled an appointment to have someone come out and give me a quote to run a water line to my refrigerator. First of all, they wanted $80 just to send someone out. The gentlemen that showed up were nice and very knowledgeable. However, they quoted me $550 just to run a new waterline. I cut them a check for $80 and sent them away even though they insisted on performing the work right then and there. Later that day, I had a different plumber come out and complete the job in 30 minutes for only $150. I will never go to Mattioni because of their outrageous pricing.

We noticed a leak on our water heater. Within 45 minutes of calling, they had 2 very professional service men at the door, assessing and diagnosing the problem. Within the following hour, a new water heater was delivered and installed. They even contacted the manufacturer of the original water heater and handled the warranty work associated with it. They provided a fantastic level of service and professionalism that is rare to see these days. Mattioni Plumbing quickly became our go to Plumbing & HVAC service team! Thanks to everyone! Many thanks to Jordan Boone and Lucas McMahon for their meticulous and professional service
Could not get any better. Carl did a fantastic job...triple checks everything, neat as can be...always does a bit extra to make sure. Cannot recommend Carl and Mattioni more highly!!
Outrageous pricing + refusal to provide itemized invoice showing labor/product prices.
I feel Mattioni knowingly and remorselessly took advantage of my inexperienced family member's trusting nature, and that's wrong.
Paul is Awesome!! He is the one who works on our water softener. Knowledgeable, on time and a pleasure to deal with.
Thanks Paul!!
A tech came out to diagnose the problem, charging a diagnosis fee. The tech himself was very nice and very knowledgeable and not responsible for pricing. I was majorly taken advantage of by the company. Women beware! The tech told me the total for their least expensive garbage disposal, which he said is the same exact brand as my broken, old garbage disposal, plus installation was $603, even with a promotional coupon of $45. So it would have been almost $650 or more. They knew I was in a desperate situation and when I asked the cost of the garbage disposal to get a breakdown of costs, the tech said there is no breakdown, it's just one flat cost. Since the garbage disposal has never been replaced before, I told him to go ahead with the work. When people heard how much I paid, they said I was taken advantage of. I know this now, especially after checking prices for my area. I called mattioni to complain and Jeff, the plumbing service manager, called me back. While he said he understood the logic behind my concern, after I told him I did some research later and found the average charge for installation is between 20 and $48 an hour and that the same garbage disposal can be bought at Home Depot for $100, he said and I quote, We can't charge hourly. We're in business and we wouldn't make any money. It was disbelief on my part. He just admitted to price gouging. I reminded him that this is a very difficult period of time due to covid-19 and they would dare to charge that much. I requested half of what I paid returned to me. Jeff said he couldn't do that but that he would offer me a free membership for the year, which is $490 and refund me the difference to add up to $600. I kept saying I wanted the money rather than a membership since I am with a warranty company. He said the membership is free and they perform annual heating and air conditioning tune-ups every year with a 15 percent discount for plumbing calls. None of this really impressed me. I also told Jeff that I did not received an itemized cost of the product and labor separately. The reason for this is obvious. Jeff responded that they just charge flat fees and don't itemize. I then reminded him that when you go to any mechanic, they are itemized every item plus labor. I said I did not want to have to go to small claims court or contact the Better Business Bureau, Etc. And that I just want half of my money back. We went back and forth like this for 10 minutes or so. I ended up accepting Jeff's offer of the free membership plus $113 back on the credit card. He said he would email me regarding our discussion of settlement. I have not received an email yet. This was 3 1/2 hours ago that we spoke. Just beware that they are in business and charge whatever they can to make a profit. This was not resolved to my satisfaction. In response to Alison's response, first of all, I didn't know I was overcharged until soaking with the warranty company and doing my own research. Installing an inexpensive disposal, including disposal, is between $180 and $400. Several people told me I was overcharged after the fact. No, I do not agree with your outrageous pricing. Secondly, Jeff and I spoke yesterday and he refused to compensate me half of the $600. Instead, he offered a 6 months membership and $113 compensation. What more was there to discuss today? If you read my review more carefully, Alison, you will see that I had no issue with the tech. Again, it's your outrageous pricing. There is nothing further to discuss. Many other plumbers charge half of what Mattioni charges. This has nothing to do with the warranty company and everything to do with them pointing out that I paid $500 for an installment, that's why Mattioni does not itemize, to keep the customer in the dark about the true price of the item. Can't make this any clearer but this was after finding out that I was ripped off.

One day the kitchen faucet had pretty much few drops of water when we open it. Everything else in the house including dishwasher worked just fine. Called Mattioni Plumbing. 60$ to come out and 40$ for 30 min the tech was here-total 90$. Let me tell you what happened in the 30 min he was here. He took a look ( without opening up anything or doing anything) and said it would be cheaper to replace our Delta faucet then try to look what is wrong with it as there are so many valves in the head of that faucet and with all the time I'd spent. Then in next 15 -20 min he was scrolling on iPad showing us the faucets similar to ours that we could use ( all of them between 700-800$) plus installation at 375$ and gave us a brochure how we could have membership and how no brainer beneficial to us it would be. It seemed way to expensive as we definitely did not buy the faucet for 800$...So we decided to think it over and shop for a faucet at Home Depot etc. We bought similar faucet at 188$ at Home Depot and called Golden Rule Plumbing. My husband asked if the faucet could be easily repaired to repair it and if not then to replace it with a faucet we bought. AND HERE is why Mattioni gets one star (and just because a guy was kind of nice) - Golden Rule plumber checked it and said something got stuck in the hose of the faucet ( it took him 3 min to open it), then he used something to get it out and voila!!!! It's working . No 800$ for a new faucet plus 375$ to change it. Just 125 dollars for a visit ( mind I paid the other guy 40$ for 30 min of him trying to sell unneeded service). And Golden Rule plumber told me if it happens again to call Delta and wrote the model number of our faucet and ask for cartridge or hose or spray if needed and they will send it for free. I call it honest service with a respect for a customer. Now I will go and write 5 stars review for Golden Rule Plumbing. Farewell Mattioni!

I needed help with furnace that wasn't working. Mattioni came out same day. Tech told me it needed $750 part. I paid it. Unit worked for 2 days then failed again. Another tech came out, then the manager who told me the unit was done and I needed to replace. Ok, so far not horrible right. Then they go down path of quoting $18k for a new unit. No joke, for a townhouse. I said your kidding right? They were not. I put the job out to bid, had 3 other hvac teams bid. Prices came back between 6-10k. For Name brand units. You be the judge as to why anyone would use these guys who think the public is low information consumers.....
Called because the air wasn't working. Trey W. was here within hours and had the issue fixed. He was very professional and courteous. The price was great. Would recommend Mattioni to anyone.
Mattioni's is always Great. Today, Shaun N was able to check out our new HVAC and take care of our concerns. Top notch!
We had an emergency situation with new construction that was astounding. we had no water pressure and no hot water. ( the builder who has ben nothing but headaches is wickersham custom homes) we called in for an after hours service as a family of 3 and one pet could not take living with no water for a day longer. the dispatch was very helpful and got us in touch with John M. he came out and was very professional and knowledgeable. he helped us get usable water so that we could address the rest of the problems the next day.
we will definitely use them again !

Had them come out to my home today to replace a wax seal on a toilet...they wanted $360 for maybe a 10 minute job to replace a $4 part. Buyer beware...Rip-OFF!!!!!
I could not be happier! I contacted Mattioni because my air conditioning wasn't working, and my home remodel contractor said to look for a company with NATE-certified technicians. Every phase of this project, from the initial web chat, to the administrative assistant on the phone, to the technician who repaired my units, was an A+ experience. Matt came to our home and was able to diagnose and fix my AC problems the same day. I think the prices were reasonable, too. I'm so glad I contacted Mattioni and I will definitely be a repeat customer.
After returning home from work on the first 85+ degree day of the year, we turned on our AC to find out that it was only blowing warm air! That evening via Yelp I sent a quote request to Mattioni as well as several of the more popular HVAC companies. Shortly after 7am the following day, Mattioni called me and they were eager to help. It took until 3pm to hear from any of the other companies and by that time my job was done thanks to Mattioni and particularly my technician, Shaun N.
Shaun did an exceptional job explaining to me my options and performing the services. He was very professional and knowledgeable. Every time he stepped inside my home he slipped covers over his shoes, very much appreciated! I was also very appreciative of the tips he shared on the best practices and insights into the system not to mention he didn't hype-up needing a new system, etc. (i.e. I trusted what he was telling me).
The only reason I'm not giving five stars is the price. It cost $60 to visit if you have a contract, $250 to check for a leak, and then the costs to fix it. While I didn't shop around, $950+ just seems a little high for a little over three hours of work plus refrigerant for a 3 ton system.
Overall, I'm very satisfied.
Called asking if they were able to convert a gas range from natural gas to propane. The dispatcher had to call me back to confirm with her technician that they could do that, and sure enough said they could. Scheduled me for the next day. I worked from home specifically for this appointment - only to get a call during the scheduled window telling me they can't convert the range. Really don't appreciate people wasting my time.
Well, what should have been a simple water heater repair, at worst a replacement, became a $3800 charge!!!!! WHAT??!! Took advantage of a woman and a semi-emergency (not really). Would not give straight answers regarding cost for water heater, but just kept giving package price, and of course threw in the if you buy the service plan you'll save a few hundred. Didn't even explain what the service plan covered. When pressed for the 5th and 6th time, the installers said they thought the water heater cost $1200, total price for just water heater and install was $3100. So you're telling me that you are charging $1900 to INSTALL the damn water heater?? The extra $800 was for another minor repair of a leaking valve that was discovered while they were there, unrelated to the water heater. Really?? $800??? Tried to upsell water heater, tried to sell a spiffy sensor with all the bells and whistles, said she needed a new liner to put the water heater in. And they know they have you since it was an emergency call (not really an emergency). But to get a second opinion or quote is a hassle when you need hot water. Will NEVER use these people again and will continue to warn others through social media and word of mouth. This is what real scam artists look like and act like!! Shameful!!

Hey I just wanted to say thank you for being respectful of the little lady upstairs. The basement was spotless! That was a very tough job. It means a lot I was able to leave my business (all I have) while you both were there, and not worry. Rob and Wendell were the technicians on point at my studio.
Great work, fast and reliable! Thanks you for being so prompt and for all the recommendations!

Doug W. Was great! For starters he came in my home with shoe covers. I didn't have to tell him. He respected my home right away. He got straight the point. Although he found leaks where I thought there was problem, he was very clean and covered my entire floor and counter top before starting. He offered a service, I declined but he wasn't pushy, he explained all the benefits and left me with a pamphlet and email with my locked in rate! Fantastic service.
What a joke! $104 service call. Okay, I'm fine with that. The first 15 minutes of diagnostic time is included. After that they charge a fee. So, the guy comes to my house, I explain the issue, he looks in my basement, for two minutes, tells me the issue, then spends over a half hour sitting on the back of his truck typing out an invoice and trying to sell me a maintenance plan. And here's the kicker - has the audacity to charge me an additional time fee for his slow typing and sales pitch! Now they want to charge me another $150 on top of the service fee. Yeah right! You did no work, so therefore, you get no pay! Good luck trying to get THAT money from me.

Fabulous as always! Whether you're in need of a redesign for your bathroom(s), a mystery leak, or just the simple water heater & expansion tank replacement....Mattioni Plumbing is my go-to residential plumbing business. About 2 years ago, I decided to use their business after visiting their wonderful showroom to help me get ideas for a redesign of my shoebox size master bathroom. Patty's expertise of bathroom designs are AMAZING!! I haven't looked for another plumbing business since.
My most current experience included the tech being on-time, professional, gave me a price and answered all my questions before installation. While the job was being completed,I felt extremely comfortable leaving my home. Hey, I had to go to work and if I'm not at work....I don't get paid. Terry... you went above and beyond. Job well done!!
Leaving my second review in one day because I have had service twice in this month and I needed to leave a review for the service several weeks ago. Paul and Victoria were the techs on this call and without fail the service was excellent as usual. They never seem phased by any problem they encounter. They are pricey for sure but the peace of mind is worth it. Larry B.
Very satisfied. Carl was extremely professional and straight forward. Our toilet problem was especially difficult but he was able to solve all of the problems encountered. We will definitely think of mattioni in future for our plumbing needs.

I have used them in the past and was happy. I called them on 4-5-17 and they gave me a timeline they would be at the house between 4-6 PM, 6:25 they call and say we'll be there shortly. Guess what I have dinner plans. I said let's reschedule for the next day! Ok. Priority? So Thursday comes same time frame. 5:45 a calls comes from Ryan. Wendell is just finishing up his water heater job. So what I have plans for later in the evening. If they can't respect my time I can't work with this company anymore. Forget they we're to forgo they're service fee.I wouldn't even give them the one star.
Excellent and professional service. They contacted me about some safety inspection that was included in our plan that I didn't even know about, and Matt did a great job explaining what he was doing when he arrived for the service call. He was polite and efficient. I was confident in his work. I would recommend them to others.
Norm C. came for our annual home visit as part of the program with Mattioni. He disclosed a few things that our 30 year old home needed and gave us an estimate in dollars and time. He explained two of the things needed immediate attention and the others could wait. We had him just do everything to save the inconvenience of another visit. He finished all the work in less time than he had anticipated, and was very pleasant and personable while here. We felt the pricing was fair, and that he found things needing immediate attention, left us feeling we dodged a bullet, so to speak. A disaster in the making, which has now been averted. Highly recommend Mattioni Plumbing and Norm.
Very prompt and professional service. We had a leaking urinal flooding a restroom...Mattioni was called and within 20 minutes Norm was on site. He was polite, professional and very thorough. I would highly reccomend Mattioni for all of your plumbing needs.

Dennis has been to our house twice now and has been extremely helpful. Our HVAC system is old, and the first time he was here, he did tell us that it wouldn't have more than another year, but we opted to take the chance, and he went through very carefully what we would need to do to maintain it. Six months later, it did indeed die, but he was quick to get us scheduled with someone to talk about a replacement.
He wrote down everything that we should ask when his colleague comes out today.
I am generally pretty happy with Mattioni, we have had some real problems since moving back into this townhouse and they have been excellent to deal with.
We had a service plan with them for several years, but when they came to service our air conditioners this spring, they informed me that there were holes in our furnaces upstairs and downstairs. I asked why they were looking at my furnaces ( as they inspected them last fall). They said they had to turn off our heat because it was giving out noxious gas. I was annoyed as we have 4 young children ( one is 15 months) and it was below freezing at night. None of our carbon monoxide detectors have ever gone off or read any number besides 0. They tried to scare me into paying upwards of $10,000 to fix the systems. Had a different company come by for a second opinion, they said the systems were fine and there were no breaches in the heating systems. Will never use Mattioni again as they tried to rip me off and take advantage of me as a woman at home with her children while my husband was a work. I usually don't write reviews, but this was so egregious that I felt I needed to say something.
Prompt, Professional, Informative, Knowledgeable and extremely neat while completing the water heater & other services.

They were able to schedule me in quickly for both plumbing and HVAC service. Had to reschedule one appointment (because they were running late), but both technicians were great. The plumber helped me quickly diagnose my problem, which it turned out didn't require a costly repair (yay!) Would definitely call them again!

Mattioni called to schedule my annual Healthy Home inspection. It was easy to schedule, they called to remind me of the appointment, then called the day of to lmk when to inspect them. The technicians Jared and Lucas were on time, absolutely professional, thorough, and knowledgeable. They were clean and left everything the way they found it. I wouldn't hesitate to have them come again for service.

I've been using Mattioni for 10+ years. They really know how to treat their long-term customers well.
i would be careful be very careful be very aware mattioni will get you to sign a routine service check up program they will come to your house and scare you with pressure readings or leakages or crackings in fixtures and the routine check ups every time they have come have lead to thousands of dollars of recommended service i had their recommendations checked by two other experts and they laughed at them be very careful of this game to get in your house and then make suggestion after suggestion
Good work, but totally overpriced ! The technician was here for 1.5 h to fix an air condition problem. The value of the parts he had to use was less than $50 and the bill was $460 for 1,5 h of work. That wasn't the 1st it happened to me with Mattioni, but definitely the last time. Until they change their pricing policy to a parts and per hour model instead of fixed price calculation, I won't use them anymore!

John M was terrific. Appointment to replace water heater, but after his assessment (complicated due to radiant heat, etc.) he recommended replacing a cartridge in a shower stall instead. Saved us over $2,000! For those folks perturbed by the $60 fee for estimates, ask them about it. I was told that if we ended up getting a water heater or hired them for service work, the fee would be waived - and it was. I highly recommend them!!!
I hate the iPad for my signature again and again without seeing what I am signing for. I had to trust your representative and he was very believable but I'm left with nothing
The team of Rob and Jim G. came on the day agreed to for fixing a kitchen sink that would not drain. The cause was a clogged drain line in the basement. They replaced the entire line, corrected the pitch of the line to remedy the original installation flaw, and completed the job in under three hours. They were very professional, knowledgeable, courteous and cleaned up after their work. We feel very comfortable to put the care and maintenance of our plumbing, heating and a/c systems with Mattioni and signed up for their service.
I had a really bad experience calling for a quote for water heater. They need 60 dollars for some one to come to your home just for the quote? And when i mentioned about other companies that provide free quote the person just said We don't compete that way seriously in this day and age where companies come knocking for free quote these folks need 60 dollars?????. As a customer ill avoid companies like this to discourage such arrogance. You may be a great company but there are other great companies too!!!!

Buyer Beware - Mattioni have serviced my cooling and heating units which are 9 years old, for several years. When they come there is always something wrong so I expect to drop at least $500 twice a year on top of the $40 a month service contract. This time they said the air units were leaking refrigerant, a $4000 fix. So I got a second opinion. This guy said no way could these units have corroded, they could have been tampered with, a leak is easy to create, but there is no proof. He has made a temporary fix, charged me $210, but the costly damage is done. I immediately canceled my contract with Mattioni as have been suspicious of their practices in the past. Have lived in many houses, always had a service contract, but never had to fix things at every service. Wish I had canceled sooner.
Jim the technician arrived on-time, was courteous and very knowledgeable. He explained everything to me thoroughly and took his time to make sure the work was done right. Highly recommend.
I hired Mattioni for the first time in an emergency on Christmas Eve day 2017. My water heater broke and flooded my basement. I did not have a plumber to call and my neighbor suggested I call Mattioni. They came within hour and replaced it within 3 hours for a reasonable fee. I then a plumber for a leak in my crawl space from old pipes. They replaced pipes, and installed a new dishwasher and garbage disposal for me. I also needed a new shower head in Master bath. Jared came to my house twice and was on time, professional, courteous, and thorough. I felt very comfortable with leaving him in my home with his associates. He completed the work on time and did not leave a mess anywhere. I will call him for future needs. I gave a 4 star rating because of the expense. However, I do not know what other companies would have charged. I was willing to pay the higher prices because the service was very good.
Guy came out to give us an estimate on a gas line install and we knew we would be charged a $60 dispatch fee. He then said he had to walk the property and do measurements and figure out what was best plan of action. He said if he had to do extra research he would charge us for it but then we would get the money back if we chose them to do the job. He didn't give us a rate or exactly explain what extra research meant and how much it could potentially cost us.
He spent a long time trying to figure out the gas line he needed and made roughly ten calls with different people trying to confirm parts and what was needed for the project. This guy would know what he needed since he also is going to do the install, you would think?
We had to pay $150 for his research at our kitchen counter. We also have two kids and family over and he told us to be quiet so he can do his research. Then I called into the company to complain and the guy said yes this happens when we aren't up front and there is a disconnect like this.
If your going to charge us something set the expectation like you did with the initial $60 service fee AND since your dispatcher knew it was a gas project let us know up front that we could also be charged extra for this specialized research that would need to be done.
Paul and Brian at Mattioni were professional and responsive in quickly replacing our LP Hot water heater, the same day we called. They explained everything thoroughly and kept us updated during the process.
Paul M was clean, informative and very professional! My situation was an emergency and required same day service. All pricing was discussed and revealed before the work was started. Price breakdown was for the service call (trip charge) which was revealed on the initial phone call. Other pricing was for snaking the line and cameraing the line but was not revealed over the phone which really should have been. Bottom line Paul was here for roughly for 2 to 2.5 hours. Price charged was $617.00 which I think is very excessive! I understand we need to make money and cover the return on investment for tools like the camera but this is extreme and very gouging! The service was excellent but the price was poor! I won't be calling Mattioni again unless their price model changes.

Mattioni's came out on a moments notice at 11PM to fix a leaking pipe. Norm & Brian were quick and efficient and pointed out a water system deficiency from another plumbing companies work that will likely save us money from future repairs. Mattioni's knows plumbing.
I went with them because I saw all the good reviews. They baited me with a $99 special for servicing my heating unit in winter time . After inspection the technician mentioned that there might be some issue with my heat exchanger and gas valve and promised to returned back with a so called field supervisor. They came right next day for a follow up inspection. With minimal testing the supervisor came to the same conclusion. They immediately created a panic amongst my family and shut the heat off. They put a lockout tag and scared us with no liability waiver and said if I turn the heat back on, there could be CO poisoning. They quoted me a whooping $3000 for replacing the heat exchanger and gas valve. For the cracked heat exchanger, when I asked them to check the CO levels, he said he does not have one on hand. Then I offered to buy one from hardware store and he said those don't detect anything below 30 ppm and are useless. I was insisting that he shows me proof of high CO levels but he would not show me. That triggered doubt in my mind and I tested him further by asking him to replace just the gas valve ($500) promising not to turn the heat on, although I was not smelling any gas. He refused to replace the gas valve alone and wanted to do the whole job. As soon as I told him don't want to fix anything he got very upset and and started scaring us more about the CO poisoning and explosion hazards. I went out to another reputable company in the area and had them inspect and of course all tests came negative with no issues. In the end I realized that these are a bunch of crooks who are earning their money only by tricking people into buying things they don't need. The field supervisor was just a sales person. I have not met so unprofessional , money hounding greedy people as Mattioni plumbing in Exton pa in my life. Stay away from them. If they say there is an issue at least get it double checked by someone else, Or you will loose your sleep and money.

I was impressed that Terry arrived right on time & was very friendly. He showed me everything he was doing & explained why. I love to learn & found Terry to be an excellent teacher. He tried a few things before snaking. He was extremely neat
and always wore shoe protectors. Solved my clogged sink problem & is checking
Cartridge for shower. I would strongly recommend Terry for any plumbing
Problems. Going forward I will definitely request Terry. I have used Mattioni in the past and was not as satisfied with my plumber as I was with Terry.

We were new to the area. Talked to a couple of firms about the range of our plumbing, HVAC and heating related needs, but could not get a clear, integrated solution. Our immediate need was grab bars for bathrooms, but also wanted to discuss the other (old house) issues. They coordinated getting parts with us so we could get what we wanted and some good prices. They sent someone (Jared) out for my immediate needs and to do an inspection. He understood our situation and what we were trying to accomplish. He got the ball rolling on the immediate needs and later that day people from their HVAC division come over to gather more details. They proposed a solution that leveraged the good parts of the current system, upgraded our older AC, incorporated a heat pump, and integrated elements of our existing oil heat and hot water system. Net result, dual fuel system that should lower energy cost and operate with a smaller whole house backup generator in the event of a power outage. Their approach and process is clear, through, upfront, and team based. It is a pleasure working with a team that includes specialists who work well together - and with us!!
they put in a 300 foot water line, and flat out did great work and the price was great,
very pleased with service received, on time, very pleasant, careful of floors, furniture, explained what they were doing, went over everything they did.

Paul M at Mattioni is fantastic. He knows his stuf and is terrific to work with. We've had him do work in our house for over 10 years, and he's never done less than a 5 star job! I very highly recommend him and Mattioni Plumbing!
They totally over-charged us and sent inexperienced technicians to do repair work! Our furnace went out on our main floor last week. First we paid the $75 to have someone come out any look at it. I was happy with the quick response and turn-around, but then they spent 4 hours finding the problem, getting the replacement part, finding out the replacement part didn't actually fit, and then turning around to get us a replacement part which they charges us an additional $100 to have over-nighted. This was on a Friday and they couldn't get in to do the repair until Monday morning. We were also charged for all of the time they took trying to fix the problem which led to nothing but an additional $100 charge for their mistake of bringing the wrong part in the first place. Who doesn't check first?? Then when they came this morning to fix it, they were late, found another problem with our condenser which they should have found the first time. This was the time they sent us a Junior technician who had no idea what he was doing so my husband had to wait for them to bring a different senior technician to finish the job. On top of all of that, after our heat worked for 1 day, it broke again, and then they came out and charged us $250 to replace the thermostat but still have no idea what went wrong in the first place!! A thermostat costs like $40!! In the end were charged $1400 all together which could have been a lot less if they did a thorough inspection in the first place! They said they'll try to correct it but let's see...
While moving into our new house, I found a leal in one of our bathtub drains. I called Mattioni, received prompt service at a fair price. Only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that Mattioni also did a pre-settlement plumbing inspection on the house which we paid for. I felt the leak should have been identifiedat that point and I could have had it repaired at the seller expense.
