HISTORY

Established in 1980.
Steve Lowry created this company in 1980; back then the entire company was made up of just Steve and his truck. He worked out of his apartment and did all the work personally. Time passed and his business grew, he began to hire additional electricians to join the team to do more work and opened his first shop. Steve saw an opportunity to expand his business by adding HVAC and plumbing to the services our company offers. Lowry Services continues to grow, even in the face of very difficult economic times. After 40 years in business, we see no signs of slowing.

ABOUT BUSINESS OWNER

Joe H. has worked for Lowry Services for the last 35 yrs.  He started working here as an electrician in the field running service calls. Since that time he has had the opportunity to be hands on and learn all aspects of running our company.  These personal experiences give Joe a unique ability to understand exactly what it's like to walk in the shoes of everyone of his employees. Joe's pathway to General Manager wasn't through the most traditional channels; which has actually turned out to be one of his greatest assets. Since Joe started as a service tech and worked his way up in the company, he has earned the genuine respect of his employees. His most valuable trait as a General Manager is that he relies upon his practical, real world knowledge in combination with his own creativity to guide our company forward in the future.

DON'T call Lowry Services - you can't afford it!

Recently had a circuit breaker blow. Lowry came out for $50 and quickly assessed there was a short somewhere.

$950 if I wanted them to find the short. That's right, $950.

2 hours later they found the short between 2 wired smoke alarms but to fix it, they needed to run a new line between the smoke alarms and that would be $1,500

I said no thank you, I'd use battery operated alarms instead.

They said no, I was legally obligated to fix it. That's right, legally I had to pay them an additional $1,500.

I feel like the Lowry Electric Mob just shook me down for $2,500.

Also, this is how they left my home. You know. $2500 doesn't include leaving your home the way they found it. See pics of walls and ceiling I now have to fix.

Ouch.

You need to pay them $89 just for a quote. I don't know of any companies who charge just for a quote.

Called in to see about getting a quote to have electric run to an outbuilding and they said you need to pay to have a tech come on site. I do appreciate that they said it up front. But that's still not worth it since I am just getting a quote to see if I would like to use them.

My girlfriend used Lowry Services a few times for projects at her home. This last time I needed my system replaced so we had one of their sales representative out to home, in Bucks County area. At first the gentleman was very nice until he started talking about politics, which was very off putting to me, he is very hard to the right and made several remarks against minorities. I did not feel comfortable with him in my home.

I needed up using another contractor, the value was a lot more and most importantly their ethics and integrity were top notch.

Needed ONE WIRE replaced from our outside elevator lift into our machine room that already had a path to it and was told it would take 2 days, 3 crew members and $6108.80 and they would punch holes in our walls that they intended not to fix!! Well, got another estimate from a real electrician and he charged us $900, it took him 2 hours by himself with no holes!! DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE!!

Called to have my furnace checked out because there was water in the pan below it.  Technician said I had a big and dangerous crack in some part
of my furnace that might be emitting carbon monoxide and could kill me.
Said I needed a new furnace that would be about $8,000.
Called the local fire department to check for carbon monoxide - they found no trace.  Asked the guys who came who they would call and the said
FAUST.  Faust came out within an hour, said I had two parts that needed
replacing (for about $1200), did it the next day, and the owner himself personally came out to check the job (technician was not a rookie) as he did for every job they did.
Wonderful service! Very happy that they do not take advantage of women who live alone!  Can't recommend them more highly!!!!!!!!

If you're elderly do not use this company!! They take advantage of the situation. My 82-year-old mother was charged $1,085 to have her garbage disposal replaced in less than an hour. That price includes their discount coupon. We have called several times to speak to owner/manager to no avail. I understand it's over and done with now and a huge lesson learned to someone who is on a fixed income. Company claims they have integrity, I think not, I can't even get a call back.
BEWARE

* Thank you Steve for getting back to me.  We appreciate your concern in this matter and we look forward to it being resolved.

We previously posted, and owner Steve Lowry asked us to call him regarding our subpar experience with their customer service (the job was done well, but we are several thousand dollars lost without a letter from Lowry saying that the job was completed according to local regulations). I did, but was told that Steve would not take my message and I needed to contact the plumbing manager, who never returned my call for the second or third time. My public adjuster said to post my grievance on their Facebook page, which I did over the weekend, but looked today to find it was taken down. The statute of limitations expires in days. HELP!!! Please email us at [email protected] or fax us that letter on Friday at 215-364-8930. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!

I called requesting pricing for replacing my water heater.  They charge $49 to come out and quoted $2600 with no itemization just a total.  Waist of time they could have provided the price over the phone but instead sent someone so they could charge me the fee.

Had a simple wax collar on a toilet that needed to be replaced. Quoted over $500 ($524 to be exact) to replace it, taking less than 2 hours.  Most master plumbers charge ~$125/hr - not sure how you can charge double that amount.  Went to call back and get an explanation on the charges and manager was not available and would call me back, 2 weeks have gone by and still waiting.  Called again and manager had just stepped out.  Wait and see who will last on this one guess.  I know it won't be me - I'll be calling back.

Also made the appointment and they ran late on the day they said and had to come the next day, when you are a nurse your calendar is not that flexible and need to show up when you say.  Understand that things happen, but just pointing this out as well.

Get plumbers that will charge a fair price - they know they are gouging.

On original visit they charged over $300 to clean my air conditioner coils.  Air conditioner still not running properly so we had them come back and we were told the evaporator coil was dirty and then charged $401.90. You would have figured the technician would have checked all the coils the first time.  They are only willing to refund me the $99 for a discount plan I never asked for.  The sad thing is that I only wanted them to check to make sure it was running efficiently and that cost me over $800

Had an emergency call the other night, dispatch said they would be out to take care of plumbing. No show from plumber the next day, was given excuses and told we'll call back shortly. Half hour+ and no call back, so I called another emergency plumber and cancelled with Lowry. After using them and having multiple jobs done for almost $2K over the past few years, I feel I can no longer recommend them. Feel let down and disappointed!

My husband and I used Lowry for electrical work and our electrician Tom was FANTASTIC!!! We previously had issues with our ceiling fan not working and we called out HSA to come fix it, they charged me 150 just to come out and say they had to rewire everything. We called Lowry, Tom came out and gave us a very reasonable quote for them to install a new fan and check everything! Nothing was due until service was completed and WORKED. I absolutely loved it. Tom was personable and had a lot of knowledge about the issue at hand. He was respectful of my sleeping two year old and really did an outstanding job. I would recommend him and the company to anyone I know! Thanks for the help Lowry and Tom!!

This is an edit to my previous post! Just used Lowry Services for a plumbing issue and Gio was BEYOND nice! During this whole COVID-19, we needed someone to understand separation and cleanliness. He exceeded my expectations and gave us a great price. He was in and out user an hour. Great service! Will continue to use you guys whenever we need it. !thank you so much

Rip off company. Run the other way. Will come out and give you a quote double anyone else and then charge you 49 bucks when you say forget it.

Fleecing customers, great way to build a rep

Saw the much delayed response from this company and had to respond. I totally understand the aspects of business having run million dollar businesses, however your comment on honest and ethical behavior does not ring true. I am sure you understand that people vote with their feet and the reputation of a business will drive future success. If you business model continues to work for you, more power to you. Smart consumers will not fall for it though.

I can only speak to my experience. I paid your fee to drive out there, rejected the offer to repair  at the price quoted, rejected the second offer when I told them it was too high, then called someone else and paid half the fee with a more pleasant experience. So even paying your fee, I still came out way ahead and know who I will choose in the future no questions asked

I am not a fan of Lowry Services, and neither should you be. Where to start - this company is as unprofessional as they come.  They price gouge, do shoddy work, and do not honor their so called warranty.

A month and a half or so ago, Lowry Services installed exhaust fans in two of my bathrooms.  When the electrician told me he was going to go to Lowe's to get the fans, I told him to get good ones, and I'll pay the increased price for them.

Fast forward a bit.  I noticed that after showering, my bathroom wall gets moisture on it.  I researched the model number of the fans and leaned that these fans get very poor ratings.  That explains the moisture.  When I called to explain this, the representative was friendly, and scheduled me for a repair visit.  I also requested additional work to get done.

As soon as the electrician named Matt arrived, he immediately told me that there is nothing he can do to address the moisture issue.  He said the fans are 120 CFU fans, and that they are fine for the bathrooms.  He suggested that I hire a carpenter to remove the bathroom doors and saw off a quarter inch along the bottom of them - then said this may help with the moisture.  He said another option would be to shower with the bathroom door(s) open.  I'm sure my fiancé and daughter would have an issue with this.

My family is not showering with the doors open, nor am sawing off the bottom of my doors because it is not needed.  I lived in other houses where the doors didn't need sawing and the exhaust fans worked fine.  Additionally, the fans are 110 CFU, not 120 CFU.  Regarding the incorrect CFU guess you would think that the company that supplied these fans would know what they installed.  Then again, if Matt took the time to actually look into the issue for more than 45 seconds, he may have been able to speak more intelligently on this concern.  Needless to say, this issue was not addressed - barely looked into, and the moisture continues to happen.  I'm assuming it is only a matter of time until my paint starts to bubble.

I also have a few outlets in my house that do not work.  Outlets that do not work seems like entry level electrician work, but what do I know.  I paid over $300.00 to have these outlets fixed.  After about an hour, the electrician fixed one outlet, and seemed stumped on the others (which are all on one side of the house).

His answer to me was to ask me to pay an additional $308.00 dollars for him to continue.  When I initially scheduled the job, I asked that these outlets be fixed, not that I pay over $300.00 to hope that they get fixed.  I surely wasn't expecting to be asked for an additional $308.00 for him to continue - and with no guarantee that he would even fix them even then.  So, after spending over $300.00 to get my outlets fixed - I am still sitting in the dark, while Lowry Services leaves with my money.

I also asked Lowry Services to install two Ring Spotlight Security Cameras.  The one in my backyard was installed with the spotlights hanging loose.  I had to re-aim them and tighten the thumb screws.  No big deal, but I was charged over $400.00 for this one spotlight/camera installation - so I should not have had to do anything.

The other spotlight/camera installed over my garage wobbles a bit because he used the same mounting box from the old spotlight that he removed instead of using a new one.  That hardware is probably ten years old or more.

There are many company's out there that prey on people that are either in vulnerable situations, or who may not know any better.  In my opinion, Lowry Services is one of them.  There are way too many other options out there; honest and ethical companies, and I will pursue them going forward.

Mike

Update on 4-12-20:

The owner of Lowry Services contacted me via the cookie cutter message below and said to contact them to discuss these issues to resolve them.  After speaking to their electrician's manager Joe I was told by my own fans and they will install them.  Even though I bought the first two already.  This is the results of Lowry's incompetent work.  Water literally dripping from the exhaust fan and soaking the carpet.  I have a video of this I put on their Facebook page, but I cannot upload it to Yelp.   I also have water running down my walls.

As previously stated, Lowry's wonderful response is for me to go buy new fans and they will install them.  Not them coming over with better fans and replacing them, but telling me to buy them at my expense, so that means I will have purchased four exhaust fans because of their half ass workmanship.  What a joke.

My initial experience with Lowry where they did not honor their warranty was awful. After a prolonged back-and-forth over several months with the BBB, during which their Manager Joe Haney had many opportunities to offer a compromise and did not, I finally gave up and had to have $3500+ of repairs done by another contractor out of pocket.

One year later, Steve Lowry personally reached out to me responding to this Yelp review, advising I should call his office so he could make it right. When we spoke he was genuinely apologetic about my poor customer experience. He offered to send a $500 check as compensation for my poor experience with his company, which I agreed to. It doesn't undo the poor original experience, but it shows me that they are becoming more aware that they can improve the quality of their service.

Did a good job but completely raped me on pricing. Got a quote done after they did work because my bill seemed very high. Talked to 2 of there competitors and they said my bill shouldn't have bin more than $600 max. Was charged $1200 after a $400 military discount. Not to mention they didnt give me a price amount for any of the work, just what they wanted as payment. If it wasnt a time sensitive issue I never would have went with them and will never again. I'll just go without electric before I higher them again.

My daughter need an 220 outlet in her home in South Philly. The location of the outlet was right near the electrical panel. No walls or other interference to run the outlet. Their quote was $3000! They claimed they needed a sub-panel.

We immediately got another electrician for a second opinion. The job is done and costs only $850. No sub-panel required.

I believe this company was taking advantage of a young homeowner. I will never use them again. I also had to pay $50 for a service call. Total rip off.

I am writing regarding an excellent service call for plumbing with my kitchen sink. Angel went above and beyond by his expertise and trouble shooting skills.

My kitchen was redesigned which slowly caused a progressive odor problem for 4 years. He was very patient gave us options without damaging any of my cabinetry or walls.

I was so relieved to have this new drainage system and immediate solution to this problem. We will use Lowry in the future as our dedicated plumber.

We asked them to come out for a plumbing emergency, they said $180 just to come out so I told them no thanks and just went out and bought tools try to fix it.  I ended up not being able to so I asked Lowry to schedule an appointment for the next day.  They said this would still be considered an emergency and I'd be charged.  Called a friend's father who did it for $95.

We also used Lowry for electric.  The problem ended up being our front lawn light shorted the circuit and just needed to have the outlet reset.  We also asked him to replace an outlet while he was here.  $377, pretty expensive.

Kind of disappointed in them, and it's sad because I used them for years. Was told if I got a repair done (that was done 3 years ago and was told it should last more than three years, but parts break!), I would have six months to get up to $500 back if I get a new system. Got it fixed (after they arrived more than an hour late, but they called at least), then had a guy come out for a quote on a new one, and he told me we have between 30 and 60 days to use that $500. I liked both the tech and the guy who gave me the quote, they all seemed honest. My biggest gripe is coming an hour late. I was told someone would contact me about that because I had to miss an hour of work, but still nothing. It's sad because they've done a lot of work for me in the past. I trusted them, and I still think they try to do a good job, but they didn't value my time, but had no problem taking my money. Just disappointing.

I got a phone call at 11:08, August 12, from Ed, the dispatcher,  that John would be at my home by 11:20. I was told I would receive a call one-half hour before the tech would arrive. To make a long story short, John arrived closer to 12:30. That was my initial experience. I greeted him at the door. No mask, no booties. I had to request both. I was told all the techs wear masks and booties. Not my job to request they don them. Explained what I needed done, and John made a suggestion, which I followed through on. He told me he would need to drill through the cinder block to do the necessary wiring for the outlet in the crawl space. I asked him how long the job might take, and he informed me about two hours. When he showed me the price, I almost fell off my chair. $758.00!!! Now if that is not highway robbery, then please send me back to school to relearn the new definition! I told him the company that will install the pump in my crawl space was initially going to do the electrical work for $400.00, but I would find my own electrician for a more reasonable price. John called his boss and explained the situation. His boss said he could only come down so much. John was a decent guy, but he lost some points when he did not tell me he did not need to drill. It was only after I asked him if there was much to sweep up that he informed me there was no drilling involved. Lowry's took me to the cleaners. There is absolutely NO reason they could not have matched the price the electrician from the crawl space company was going to charge me. Lowry's is grossly overpriced. They do not even match the going rate other companies charge.  If they want to make things right, they should have matched the $400.00 I would have paid. Please do not be mislead by coupons and discounts. They do not even make a dent. I was going to sign up with them to service four units I have in my home, but I  will go with Christian HVAC instead. I am a first time customer with Lowry's, and I am profoundly disappointed with their pricing. It is unethical, and I do not know how the owner sleeps at night knowing what he is doing. In good faith, I cannot recommend this company. A COMPLETE DISAPPOINTMENT!

Nick Seitz took my fan without my permission.  Messed up my three way light system in my home.  He left my dining area where he was working a mess.  he blamed the switch defect on faulty wiring in my home and accused me of having another electrician in my home which is why the three way doesn't work.  He or Ed broke my ceiling fan on my sun porch when they took it down to connect a new wire to install my Ring door bell.  I had an additional  motion sensor light installed on my 2nd floor roof.  I am suppose to be able to turn it on manually.  The on and off switch doesn't work.

I'm mostly upset because Nick took my ceiling fan without my permission.  It was a vintage Fan that was purchased for me by my late husband.  I asked the company to have him return it and it has not been returned yet.  This issue has been going on since about November 24, 2020.  If no one is going to respond to me the least they can do is return my property.   No matter how you look at the situation the most disturbing issue is the theft of my fan.   Nick said, to remedy the mess he made it will cost me over $900 dollars.   I have Nick on my arlo camera's admitting that he basically had  no idea what the problem is.  At first he said the problem was the three way switch.  Then he backtracked and said I need to have my whole upstairs system rewired because it's something wrong with my wiring.  No the problem is he disconnected my three way light and connected it to the Ring Door device which is what I asked him not to do.  I requested he run a separate line for my ring device and he insisted that his way was more efficient.

Now I waiting for his General Manager to return my call to give me a remedy for what has happened.  I will keep you informed of the progress.

Let me start out by saying my experience with Lowry has been great! When I called for an estimate to have some outlets repaired/replaced, a light that stopped working in the basement repaired, and a frayed service entry cable and breaker box updated, I spoke to a woman on the phone who was very polite and able to get someone out right away. Keith, a field supervisor, came out the next day ( which was the best time for me ) and evaluated all my concerns and answered all my questions! He provided me with explanations of how things worked and the importance of some concerns to be addressed sooner rather later. He explained everything in detail regarding how things should work and how he would be able to fix them. He then explained everything to my wife again in detail and in a way should could also understand. My intentions were only to get a few minor things done, but the way Keith explained everything, his thoroughness, and his ability to communicate effectively convinced me to go ahead and take care of everything that needed to be done! He was even able to get us easy, affordable financing! Keith went ahead and took care of all the small jobs that same day, and because we were concerned for our safety and the larger job couldn't be done until the following day, Keith went ahead and installed a temporary wire to hold us over until then. He was back out here early with his coworker (before he was scheduled to be here) and began working right away! Mike who had come out to assist was also polite, thorough, and personable! They completed everything that afternoon and cleaned up. Again, Keith went over everything he had done and even took care of a few road blocks he came across along the way at no additional charge to us. Before he left I had asked him if he had used silicone to fill in the wall around where the cable went because I wanted to seal up a hole in the side of the house where the gas line comes in.  He explained the product touse and how to to do it. After he left, he texted me and told me he took care of it! Sure enough he went and filled in that gap for me too, and patched up some exposed wood on the side of the house where the old meter was until I have a chance to fill in the stucco. He will be back next week to do a safety check over and advise us of future things to consider doing. I want to take a moment to recognize this individual Keith for his outstanding work! Lowry has proved to me they are a great company with great employees. Its workers like Keith (and Mike) who make your company as good as I believe it to be! They are very skilled and very personable individuals and you guys are lucky to have them! Dont let the 2 star review scare you away. My experience from start to finish has been exceptional! I highly recommend!

I called Lowry to have them install a range hood over my stove.  They told me they do that work and everything I researched on the internet said to get an HVAC guy to do it.
The morning of the appointment, the technician called and said they did not do that type of work.
I guess when the receptionist, who had no background in HVAC makes the decision, you suffer the lack of expertise she has in making the decision for an appointment.

I have used Lowry for other jobs and they have done very well. Before this experience, I would have given them 4 stars. That is no longer the case.

In a nutshell, they damaged my home and personal property. Broke some pipes that needed to be completely redone. They did not bring their own equipment to do the job, and in the process damaging that.

This lead to a huge cleanup on my end. The receptionionist who I spoke to was great and took notes. However after speaking with the manager, with whom I was told this would all be relayed too, he only received two text messages from a head plumber. According to our conversation, this information was just learned. Now after many calls, everything should be restored.

They were great before this. If a technician comes to your home look for signs.(With any company.) Is all the equipment on the truck? Are they wearing the covers on their shoes. Do they seem to be in a hurry? This is a large company. But I would hesitate before using them again.

So this review covers Lowry Services in Delaware County. Make sure to read all the reviews on here because Lowry extends from Philadelphia all the way to Allentown and out as far as Lancaster.

I had a problem with an outlet on the wall where my TV/Cable Box was located. Knowing nothing about electricity or electricians, I just wanted to find someone close by that could do a good job. When I called on a Sunday night, I expected to leave a message, but a friendly, polite operator answered my call. She took my information, and arranged a call for Monday Morning.

First thing Monday morning, received a call from the service center in Delco, and by 9:00am, we greeted our electrician Ed and his trainee. I was impressed because Ed first greeted and was very friendly with my dog. He and his assistant introduced themselves, and that friendliness was appreciated.

Ed and his trainee took a look at my issue and were able to determine that the problem was with a bad light switch (which shared the same wall with the outlet and was causing an issue). After replacing the switch, the issue was gone. Now I was expecting the job to be between $300-500 (as I was told it may be an issue with my junction box by friends with experience).  But the price of $150 was happily accepted!

Now, if you're handy and know what you're doing, this may be an overcharge. But for someone with no experience in electrical issues, it's nice to know that Lowry's technician did a great job with minimal impact. My wife and I don't mind paying for good service, so now we know if there's an issue in the future, we can follow up with Lowry going forward.

I had a plumbing service conducted by plumbers from Lowry Service for installing a garbage disposal and a shower head. The plumber gave a quote of $ 78.0 of service charge at the start of service and I agreed. However, at the time he completed the service, the plumber wrote me a bill of $ 780.0 which was extremely disproportionate from the small amount of service he completed. This plumber looked rather intimidate to me and I wrote him a check he asked for and planned to dispute the charge for the service.

My warning to future customers thinking of using the service from this provider to be aware of the bait and switch played by the technicians from this provide in giving quote and in writing the bill. Please take a photo on the agreed quote price and make voice recording on conversations you will have with the service technician.

I highly discourage anyone to use service from Lowry Services.

I'll start this review by saying that they are very friendly and quick to help and start/complete the job. They even have everything they need in their vehicles to start the job if that is something you would want (the person answering the call and the tech will reassure you of this). So why one star?

Price. It's insultingly high compared to all their competitors.
(I was running electric to my detached garage).

After walking around my garage and basement, and discussing what would be needed, the estimator gave me a verbal quote of around $3500-4000. That's a little higher than I expected from researching other's out-of-pocket but it is possible that my property setup may be different than others (beats me but maybe). So then the estimator asked to setup in my house while he prepared the quote. Weird but fine. He sat in my dining room for about 20 minutes until he was done. $7,800 was the final!!!!

So where did that number come from after an initial verbal of $4,000 max?! Your guess is as good as mine. He gave no explanation and no itemized estimate. Just a number. But he did offer $100 off with a coupon he could provide. He reminded me that he could start the job now as his van was ready to go. I thanked him for his time and stated I'd be in touch. I never got in touch.

Instead I shopped around. I came across Haller Enterprises. The estimator took (inspection and written [from his truck, no less!]) about 15 minutes. They ended up doing everything Lowry said they would do for just $2000!

I received another estimate just to compare and $2000 seems to be where everyone else is at.

I met someone in passing and started to tell them of my experience with Haller Enterprises versus Lowry. Before I could finish the story they remarked, Let me guess. They wanted somewhere near $8000 to do the same job?

SHOP AROUND!!!!

Should be zero stars
Crappy work, outrageous price
Mount 3 small lighting fixtures to boxes that already had fixtures, no wiring, no new boxes, customer supplied fixtures, 2 hours, easy, no materials, $ 600 !!!
Had to have someone else fix their work too.
Rip off artists, wish I'd been home

Their prices were 3 times what I've paid other electricians.  If you have a problem to be diagnosed prepare to be taken to the cleaners.  Lowry is more of of a slick marketing company than anything else. Read the other reviews and find someone else.

Be warned & be careful, they offer a $49 visit charge,
Refunded, if service is done, but;
I had them out, because We did not have power in 2 of our rooms.
I was at work, because they came earlier than agreed upon time, so I had to make sure someone was home (My son.)
I spoke, over the phone with the tech & explained
what the issue was,
He than stated that the service would cost between $350 & $650
I said that I would not pay, anything over $350.
(That was a mistake, on my part.)
I should have told him to leave!
To be fair,  if the tech had to stay for a long period of time, I would expect a charge of $200 to $300.
So, 30 minutes after the tech arrived, I got a call that an outlet needed to be replaced ( I have replaced outlets, before, they cost $15 to $20.)
The tech said that the charge would be $350.
I paid it, but felt totally
Cheated and taken advantage of.
He spent, 45 minutes
At our house, replaced 1 outlet and charged $350
We called to talk with a manager, but never got a return call.
We will not use Lowry,
We will tell many, not to use Lowry.

Called for an emergency...two hours later and still waiting for a call....its funny to me when a company say 24 hour emergency service but doesn't have enough staff to cover calls.  They also charge $148 just to come out and it's not waived if they do the work.
BTW, the emergency I called about and am still waiting on? That work has been completed by another local plumber for much less.

Basically what everyone else said:
1. Big on selling other necessary work
2. Charge nearly double or triple most competitors
3. Workmanship is good
4. Techs are professional and on time

I'm happy with the work they did but I can't shake the feeling I got duped. Maybe if they didn't overcharge on the original work they came out to do I wouldn't feel like I got conned on the other stuff.

I just had work done to my home by Lowry. Their electrician Andrew Sedlack came over on a Saturday since it was my only day available.  I am huge on customer service and Andrew was the coolest guy.  It felt more like a buddy coming over to help out than a business coming to take your money which was great so I felt comfortable.  I had an issue with 240 watts coming into my upstairs bedrooms but at first we couldn't figure it out.  Turns out there were several possible issues. Andrew was patient and concise and knew his stuff.

We tackled one issue at a time and he actually had to come back a second time to ensure quality work which he did.  But he went above and beyond by even changing out an old dimmer in my room and a couple of other little jobs that were aside from the main issue which blew me away.  On top of that my issue happened at a terrible time with finances and Lowry offered great financing options which was a piece of mind. All in all I would definitely recommend these guys (I have my own website/blog where i review business so I am a tough critic) at the end of the experience I was amazed with Andrew's level of knowledge, patience and customer service so when you call ask for him, he's the man!!

In May 2015 Lowry installed a universal condenser fan motor on a 4 yr old Carrier 2 ton AC compressor. Cost was $ 1179
Fan was improperly installed and was reversing itself in mid cycle.Realized too late that a competitor with orange trucks quoted $955 for manufacturers replacement. Lowry 's tech Mike S was unprofessional as he dissed this competitor throughout the install . Being unhappy with the Carrier builders  model furnace And compressor  we decided to install new Lennox ac/ furnace. The guys in the orange trucks did an efficient install and cleanup and the price was very good plus the fact they basically erased the loss on Lowry fan install which was shoddy as far as techs knowledge of ac??  By the way the tech ,Mike, worked for the competitor and was basically sent packing due to customer complaints!

Keith and Lowry Services provided great services. Keith was on time, professional, listened to me and performed the work quickly and efficiently. I liked that he took the time to review the electrical panel and provide suggestions that would bring the service into compliance but did not push any additional work.

I would highly recommend that you call if you want good service at a good value.

Stay away!  These guys ripped me off. They charged $1300.00 for a repair where parts were 100% covered by Carrier's manufacturers warranty.

First they told me Carrier's warranty wouldn't cover the parts.  Therefore they quoted me $1300.00 to fix furnace and turn my heat back on.

I called Carrier and they confirmed that parts were 100% covered by manufacturers warranty.

Tech then dropped price to $800.00 for 90 minute repair.  In other words, they charged over $500.00 per hour for the repair!   Services manager stated that they won't provide billing break down.

I filed with attorney generals office and Better Business Bureau and the smug service manager replied with a bunch of lies and actually request that I pay an extra 300.00 and they will cover future repair under Lowrys service contract.

Unfortunately lowrys service warranty is the same as the free warranty offered by the manufacturer.

I ended up calling a local small business and they laughed and told me I got ripped off!

You are hereby warned!  Stay away!

We purchased an electric water heater from Duff Plumbing and then checked the Best Pick Reports book for the name of a company to install it.  Lowry came out two days later and installed it.  The installer set the temperature, supposedly at the manufacturer's suggestion.  Two days later, after waiting for the water to heat up, we called Lowry and asked if they could send someone out to raise the temp because our water was not hot enough.  The installer said they would not guarantee the water heater because we didn't buy it from them but they would guarantee the installation for one year.  They gave me a window of 12 noon to 4 PM.  I waited until almost 3 PM and called them.  Jerry, the manager, unbeknownst to me, called my husband and told him he wasn't sending anyone out because raising the temperature would void the manufacturer's warranty.  How would he know the temperature that was set if he didn't actually come out to see it?  We paid over $900 for this installation and they refused to follow up at all.  I will NEVER recommend them again and we will tell all of our neighbors in our community of 209 houses NOT to use them!  We will also let Best Pick Reports and Montgomery County BBB know how unreliable they are.  Once they get paid, they're gone!

Called to schedule a time to have my A/C looked at, and setup a time a week out that fit my schedule.  During this call I was very clear that I had a meeting at 1:00PM during which I would be unavailable to meet with the tech - so service would need to be prior to noon.  Was informed that diagnostic would cost $89 (which sounded fair)

Fast forward 1 week and zero follow-up or confirmation calls.  NP, I touched base with the main number at 8:30 and was told that I was next for a tech who was completing a project.  Waited around until noon and called again - was told once again I was next and the tech would arrive around 12:30, which ultimately caused me to be late to the meeting in question.  A big deal, but getting the A/C fixed was a necessity so I ran with it.

Tech came, hooked up linesets, and promptly informed me I was low on refrigerant, then informs me that a nitrogen pressure test is $617.  $617?!?!?!  Filling a tank of nitrogen (good to pressurize 20-30 systems for leak testing) costs around $20 at the local dealer, and diagnosis takes about 20 minutes.  PLUS, what the hell diagnostic cost me $89 if a pressure test it not included???  Pressurizing a system for leaks is standard practice as part of diagnosis.

They went on to quote me over $1600 worth of repairs (none of which actually fixed anything) including a cost for $104 per lb of R410a (a full 20lb tank costs around $120).

The equipment the tech was using was also sub-par - and the guy was on the phone asking how many lbs of refrigerant a 2.5ton system takes (HVAC 101).

In summary:  Prices are OUTRAGEOUS, they are not timely. their techs are not qualified, and they are an all round poor company to deal with.  Their is literally not a single good thing that I look away from my experience.

Horrible communication between dispatch, tech, and consumer. Plumbing manager Jerry was one of the rudest managers I have ever spoken with. Shocked that people like him are in a management position. Would not recommend this company to anyone.

We hired Lowry to replace a faucet in the kitchen. They quoted the price for the service and repair, saying it was the best price there is. In total we paid just over $1000 for everything. A few weeks later, we had another plumber in our home for another plumbing issue. We had ask him how much he would he would charge this to replace the faucet - service + parts and all (based on us using the same faucet part) - he quoted us it would cost us in the upper 600s for everything. We also spoke to many of our friends about it, and nobody believed that someone would actually charge us over $1K to replace a faucet. After this experience, we won't be using Lowry again for plumbing services.

I had work done by them quite a while ago, but feel compelled to write this review.  I felt completely scammed by them. I needed some work done the day before I was leaving for a trip and felt uneasy leaving before I had the electrical work done. Granted it was a last minute call and they were very good about sending someone over promptly, A+ for swift response.

Please just beware of their pricing tactics. I read other reviews where people gave them five stars, so not everyone was dissatisfied. However, if you happen to get a technician that uses their dubious pricing tactics, just be careful.

Let me start by saying we had been plagued with an ongoing main drain issue. Of course this line is buried under a slab, under a house that has never ending issues. We've used another company to clear the line 3 times since July. I had a feeling something bad was going on so I called the other company who wanted to charge me $398/hr to camera the line. Not happening. I called Lowry, not sure what to expect but wanted another opinion. Our tech, Angel, was amazing. He diagnosed the issue and was able to fix it rather quickly, and used a camera to determine what we needed done. All of this while laying all options on the table, being clear as to all the issues, and remaining 100% professional while dealing with our problem house. It isn't often in life (anymore) that we encounter people who care, really care, about their clients. Angel was one of those rare people and for that, we have found our new plumber. Thanks!

Horrible. After my sink exploded they came and did maybe 20mins of work and charged 400 dollars. While that was a lot I would have felt fine about it if the problem was solved, or even if they would have come back to fix it again but to charge me again to fix a problem they didn't fix and over charged me in the first place, never again.

noticed sparking in our circuit breaker box on fourth of july weekend...looked in best of bucks guide for electrician as we were concerned about the fire hazard the sparking wire caused...number one pick was lowry...charged 150$ just to dispatch an electrician and 750$ to replace TWO circuit breakers which he didn't even replace he just tightened them...i had no time to get other quotes...had a neighbor who has a local electrician buisness come out (unavailable for the sparking problem) when he asked how much i had paid for the fix i told him around 900$ and he said what did you call lowry...place is an absolute scam!!! a shame that businesses like this can continue to rip off families

This company says that they charge by the job and not the hour. I know it was a holiday weekend but charging $828 to thaw a pipe that took the guy 90 mins is ridiculous..that's $9.20 a min. I called the next day to discuss the bill because this happened at my mothers house and I wasn't there when the guy came.It took 3 calls and 2 days to actually talk to someone that would talk about the bill. This price is just to thaw out and pipe. $9.20 a min. Think about it

I used their service this past week. I had a sump pump malfunction on Monday. I called their service on Monday afternoon and their visit was scheduled for Wednesday. When I asked what time frame I coudl expect them within, I was told that they had  no way of predicting that in advance and would have to be home and available between 9 am to 5 pm.

They came Wednesday afernoon at 2 PM (and they did call at 1:15 to tell they would be at my home by 2 pm) . The work was done properly as far as I can tell (it has not rained at all since the pump was insitalled and am hopeful it will work correctly). The guys who did the work were very nice. When I was given the bill, my sense was that I may have been overcharged by about $100-$150 for the service. I base that on the posted cost for this pump on Lowes website as well as a projected reasonable labor cost and figuring a 30% mark-up. Not certain if I would use this company again. Next time I will check other competitors when I need the type of service they provide.

BAD BAD BAD.

1) We paid Lowry Services nearly $200 in advance for a one year Heating & Cooling maintainence package.

2) The service tech missed his first appointment.  We waited for nearly 2 hours, then called the office.  The General Manager (Joe) claimed he was stuck in traffic, and said we have no control over traffic.

3) Faulty diagnosis.  When the tech finally arrived, he said we needed a new blower motor in our furnace.  But he never actually tested the old motor -- to measure current draw, RPMs, and air pressure, temperature, and velocity -- to determine its condition.

4) Outrageous overcharge.  Lowry quoted more than $800 to replace the blower motor.  Average price for this repair is $200 to $400, according to homeadvisor.com/cost/hea….

We reluctantly allowed the tech to replace the motor, because we needed the system to be working ASAP. But the airflow was no better with the new motor than with the old.  So we told the tech to remove the new motor, and not charge us for it, which he did.

5) We told Lowry's General Manager Joe (who refused to give his full name) we wanted a refund of what we paid for maintainence.  Joe agreed verbally, but refused to put his agreement to a refund in writing.

6) No refund without hassle.  Lowry eventually sent a refund check -- but with sneaky fine print which threatens us if we tell anyone about our experience with them.  The PA Attorney General's Consumer Protection Bureau [www.attorneygeneral.gov] may want to investigate this.

This has been one of the worst customer service experiences of my life.  I had them install a new HVAC system (which they recommended) at the end of sept 2016.  It has been an unseasonably warm winter so we have not had to use the furnace much yet but in the 2 cold spells we have had it has not worked.   That is frustrating enough.  But the poor customer service, lack of technicians' knowledge and no communication has been the worst of it.  I now sit here AGAIN with no heat and no call backs.   The tech who came out told me it's my thermostat....the day before the install manager who came out proved it is not.   They do not show up when expected, do not tell you they are running late and have no interest in resolving anything.
If I could get my money back, my old 30 yr old furnace I replaced back and undo the whole deal I would, and erase the name Lowry from my memory.   Home Depot recommended them and I guess my next step is to tell them about this ordeal so they don't keep sending customers their way.   Fed up beyond belief, and I am generally a reasonable person.   I just want working heat.  You would think a $8k+ system might get you that....
I would give 0 stars if I could

Called to get a quote on some services, I was told that there was a fee for them to come look.   I was quoted 2000 dollars to run a gas line, virtually the same work I paid $600 to have done 5 months earlier by Amerigas and they brought me a full 100 gallon tank at my last house.  So I called Amerigas/ Cress Gas in Quakertown  and low and behold they had a realistic price.

I cancelled the other trade that was coming out...oddly enough they never followed up to see if I wanted their insanely priced services

I like Lowry because of the integrity of their work, helpful ideas for me as a homeowner, convenience and coupons.
Over the past year I've had two HVAC service calls and had the same technician. He is efficient and thorough in diagnosis while providing easy preventative maintenance tips. He truly looks at the job from the customer's point-of-view and even takes the time to show and explain to me. He answers all my questions enthusiastically.
I like making one-call, and having an answering service (versus leaving a voicemail message). Lowry calls back promptly and arrives the same day (i.e. I don't expect someone at my door within 15 minutes) at a time convenient for me.
Their coupons are online at their website and are a no-brainer.
I will continue to use Lowry for HVAC work.

Wanted to install a simple outdoor H2O spigot.  We have new Pex plumbing, an unfinished basement and the spigot would be located right next to the Pex manifold.  The quote was $936.88!!!!!!  We are talking about drilling a hole and running 20 feet of pex line. Someone answered my call right away. I didn't have to leave a message and wait for a call back. They were available the next day. The service man was nice and professional. He fixed the problem and cleaned up after himself. I don't have much experience with plumbing costs but I do think their prices were high. They were the fourth plumber I called and the only one who actually answered the phone. One of the other three never called and the other two took several days to get back to me. Lowry didn't leave me hanging and I guess other places can quote you lower prices but you can't count on them.

Not impressed. I sent in a request for quotes for a project via Home Advisor and had three companies call me immediately. Then Lowry called. The person I spoke with acted like they would be doing me a favor to come out. A little voice in my head said not to bother with them, but I wanted several estimates so decided to keep the appointment. The guy got here, took one look at my electrical box, and said That needs to be upgraded before the rest of the work can begin. That's $2600 right there. I told him I didn't want to spend that money and asked if there were other options for what I wanted done, and he said the box had to be upgraded no matter what. I said that wasn't going to happen, and he left. I wasted my whole morning waiting for him to show up, and we talked for a grand total of about 2 minutes. I wish now I'd read these reviews before I agreed to meet with him.

Update: I had the work done by another company and it turned out no electrical work was even needed. I'm very glad I didn't go with Lowry, that's $2600 I would have wasted and goodness only knows how much the rest of the work would have cost.

UNRELIABLE! I would never call this company for anything ever!!! They are not reliable at all.
I had an appointment set up for weeks before for them to do a simple disconnect of my oven from the gas line because I was having a kitchen floor installed. A five min task. (floor installers were not responsible for this)
About 2 minutes before the installer of my floor arrived I get a call from Lowry saying that they had to reschedule me for another day. I said that wasn't that easy, I would also have to reschedule the floor installation, and take another day off from work, etc... As I was on the phone, the floor installers were knocking on my door.
I practically begged her to please send someone so the floor could be done, she said she couldn't.
I was almost in tears as I answered the door for the floor installers explaining what happened, they saw how upset I was and to my surprise these wonderful installers from Avalon flooring said don't worry they would do it!
So guess what Lowry, by you not showing up, I probably saved over $100!
TERRIBLE customer service!

I was searching for someone to come out and do some electrical work in my home and came across a Lowry Services Truck on the highway. I decided to look them up online and set up an appointment. I was a little disappointed by some of the reviews I saw after setting up the appointment but I chose to continue with my appointment and I am glad I did. I received a call from the owner letting me know that he is sending Tom out and he should be at my house by 12:45p and Tom showed up right at 12:45P. He assessed the situations that I needed and gave me a quote. I asked if he could do the work right then and there and he did and completed everything within about 1 1/2 hours. The pricing was very fair on the work done. He even quoted me on a couple ceiling fans I need installed that I will have him back to do and I will also have them do the electric in my kitchen once I get that remodeled. My neighbor was envious on the work done and they are calling Lowry as well. Thanks guys for doing a great job! You have a new client!

horrible service. the guy said he couldn't fix my faucet, he told me it wouldn't screw together because it was stripped - which it wasn't, he just didn't unscrew the nut. So not only did the guy try to sell me a faucet out of his truck (for faucet and install) it would have cost $990.00 - I was charged $49 for 10 minutes of his time to give me a quote and to not screw in my faucet (which my husband and i did ourselves later that day).

Tom and Tyler did a fantastic job with our repairs. Electrical  problems were fixed and plumbing issues solved in the same day. They were polite, respectful and professional and I would absolutely use them again!

I had some electrical work done which included adding two outlets for my garage door openers.  They charged me $800.00 to pull power from the light closest to each door so I wouldn't need an extension cord.  After the work was done,  The garage door opener on one side had no power going to the opener because it was using the light outlet power closest to the door which they disconnected to run the new outlet. This door was working fine prior tot he outlet being installed.  The new outlet was not needed to operate the door after the work was done.  In the event, the opener ever needed to be replaced the new outlet would be optimal placement without the need of the extension cord.  As they were packing up, I told them the opener had no power and they said they would fix it and then leave since I had to go to dinner.  I returned to see the door was left on manual, no power, and the light they pulled out they just put back in.  No note was left to explain why they could not fix it. I am now left with an outlet no working opener which will still needs an extension cord and called twice on 2 separate days and both times I was told that a manager would call me.  I am still waiting for a call back...  Work was done on Monday and today is Thursday.  I would like a call back from the owner at this point.

Yet another instance of great prompt plumbing service from Ken.  We called around 2:30pm on a Saturday afternoon for our garbage disposer and Kenny was at the doorstep at 3:00pm.  He was done and out by 3:20pm and that too in center city!!!  Thanks Ryan and Ken for the great, prompt and economical service.

This is the worse service ever. There is a complete disconnect between technician and customer service. My appointment was for Monday I was pushed off until Tuesday. The technician kept changing price the manager Jerry was no help! The worse service ever I had to give them one star so I could add a comment. Frauds!

They are very expensive. They bully you into joining their discount club at a substantial fee but don't tell you that it is only good for a year. The next time I had them out they tried to sell me the same discount club that I already paid for! I showed them the door. Stay away from these snakes.

Professional office and technicians. Plumbing job. Seem to be out to find as many problems beyond what they were called out to do. Pricing is just outrageous. $4300 to fix two sinks....... Work they did do was well done though.

..... Warning...... warning........ Warning....... Warning........ Warning....... Warning......
Lowery services charged me $1000 dollars an hour for four hours work.... $4200 an hour to install a water supply line that was deliberately  install to shallow to prevent freezing. This company is predatory in  its practices.  a water supply line should never freeze. Lowery services General managers inspected the incorrect installation within six months of the original work.. Not only did they refuse to do the job correctly placing the water supply line deeper in the ground they wanted to install ridiculous space heaters and Pipe insulation that would never prevent freezing.  Lowery services wants to sell me frozen pipe insurance. This is mercenary predatory practices design to cost consumers unnecessary burden... Never at any point in time should the main water supply line to your home freeze.... To sell you frozen pipe insurance is a deliberate scam......

I wish I could give negative stars. This company is the most dishonest I have dealt with in my life. I requested they come clear a clogged drain under their clear any drain for $93 or it's free special. I confirmed there are no additional fees or catches. I stayed home waiting for the plumber all day as they do not give windows as to when they will show up. They cancelled on me as there was a plumbing emergency. I stayed home again from work a few days later and they again cancelled on me, this time at 2:30 pm saying they were understaffed. I advised this was the second time cancelling on me so they would see what they could do. All they could do was fit me in two days later and prioritize my appointment. They showed up at 3 o'clock and the plumber noticed a clog and drew up a contract for $608 to use a 30 foot snake. I mentioned the special and he said that was for hand tools only, like a plunger. I mentioned the special and he said it's very deceptive and puts the plumbers in an awkward place. I called the company to express my frustration, and the manager, who would not get on the phone with me, authorized a $50 discount. Their price was twice as much as others had quoted. I would go to plumbing school before calling this company again as it would likely be cheaper.

I called at least 5 Electricians to resolve my chirping smoke detector issues.   Lowry was the only company who called me back.  Very dependable from the moment I contacted them until the work was completed. Their rates are very reasonable.  The electrician, Jeff M.,  was awesome!  He was extremely personable, knowledgeable,  competent and thorough.  I'd request him again the next time I need an electrician.

Complete scam- avoid! Are you ready for this- they charge 50$ for an estimate- that should be first red flag.. Guy came and wanted $1900 to hook up 2 sinks. That's 250$ MAX bases on 3
other estimates!
Then you pay $50 bucks to say no..

Lowry did a wonderful job reworking some outdated electrical work that needed to be repaired to sell my house. I called 5 electricians and none would work in Norristown. I got scammed by another for $300 to say my system was safe. The Lowry team gave a fair estimate, pulled appropriate permits (critical for selling a house), and provided excellent customer service. One other electrician came out and he could not do the work for less and was unwilling to work in my attic. Lowry saved the day, and I am very thankful my house went to closing.

Our sewer backed up into the basement and I googled drain cleaners and found Lowry plumbing and electric. I called them and they were very nice and professional on the phone. They had someone here in 2 hours. They service guy was nice as well and evaluated the problem. He told me it would be $573 to clean out the stoppage. I asked about why it was so expensive and he explained the process and he may have to go as far as 50 feet to clean it out. I reluctantly told him to do it because I had already had to take one day off from work and needed to get this taken care of.

The technician used the snake to clean out the sewer from the outside clean out. It took him 30 minutes and he was done. Do the math.  That's $1146/hr!!!

I asked again about the price and he said it was calculated from his book.

I called around later and asked others what they charge and it ranged from $150-$350.While Lowry was prompt and couteous, I would never use them again nor would I recommend them. Don't make the mistake I made in a panic and accept Lowry's high prices. Call around and compare prices.

I feel ripped off.

My Lowry technician was a wonderful young man, someone I would never hesitate to invite again into my house.  However...Lowry was called because my own electrician was out of town, and I felt a particular problem had to be dealt with immediately.  The problem outlet was quickly fixed, and then I asked to have the Lowry man install a GFCI breaker in my basement to safeguard two low-lying sockets in case of flood.

I paid an EXTRAORDINARY sum for these services.  As in omg! large.  AND he even tried to sell me on some other services while here!

When my regular electrician returned to pick up on another project, he checked the basement outlets, only to find one of them did not work.  After some searching, he found that connecting wire that came from another wall had corroded away over the years.  It needed to be re-wired.  Apparently the Lowry tech never checked his own work.

Funny thing is, the sticker on my panel reads Do not install in ungrounded surface.  Which, apparently, is exactly what the Lowry tech DID do.  oops.

It's all fixed now, and more.  But I gotta tell you guys that sometimes the bigger a company is, the work product suffers.  Unless you know that your house could burn down in the next couple of hours because of an electrical problem...call a REAL electician...not a BIG FLASHY COMPANY.

We had a great experience with the installation of our Heating and A/C system in March 2014. So much so that we recommended them to my sister and brother-in-law. We agreed to a 10 year service contract which the price was very fair. I was assured that follow ups were inputted into the system so that Lowry's would call to schedule our service calls twice a year. How much easier could it get? Then Nov 2014 came and went with no call from the company. I called and was told that there was no need as the system was just installed in the spring. Two days later I received a call stating they were looking to schedule my initial service call. Left Hand/Right Hand???? Since that initial appointment I have had to follow up with Lowry's twice a year. Our technician that was out last spring was finishing up when I asked how to reprogram our wireless thermostat, he looked at me as if I asked him to solve the budget deficit. He told me to ask his old boss (our friend who used to work for Lowry's) as he has no idea how to reprogram it. Felt great about letting him work on the unit.

A few weeks ago I realized that we had not heard from the company for our pre-winter service call in Feb 2016, so I called and asked why I would not have heard from them. All I could hear were crickets on the other end of the phone. Now I have rescheduled multiple times and no one shows up sometimes they call and it becomes, well the tech is running late so it may be a few hours. This company is a scam they extend you a 10 year service plan pre-paid, at a discount, and they don't call you and when you call them they don't show up so they don't have to pay their tech. So it is March and I still have not heard from them regarding their failure to show up last week. My next course of action is to request my prepaid service money be returned so I can take my business to another company that will show up.

Horrible Experience!!!!  Don't use this shady company!  They charge $49 to come out but say if you allow them to do the work they will waive the $49 arrival fee.  They do this so you feel obligated to use them.  We researched the service and learned they tried to charge us twice the going rate (for our area) to replace a kitchen faucet!  So in the long run, you aren't saving anything!  The worst part is they broke our garbage disposal.  Of course, they came back out under the pretense of standing behind their work but then denied  their employee broke anything.  It worked the day they arrived and didn't work after they left.  They honestly expected us to believe it was a coincidence that it broke at the same time they did the work.  If there are issues you need to know the person in charge is rude and doesn't stand behind their work.  They are not the family owned and honest company they pretend to be. Honestly, this was the worst experience I have had in years!!!  Just a terrible company to work with!

Recently I had the chance to work with two of Lowry's services HVAC & Plumbing.  I have never used their services before but am very glad I did.  Jeff initially came to provide an estimate for a new AC unit.  He did a great job of not coming across as pushing the product and was helpful and more importantly it felt like he was being honest.  After getting 3 total estimates from other companies, we decided to go with Lowry's.  Ervin & Russ did a great job of installing the unit.  They were respectful, polite and helpful.  I later needed to contact their Emergency Line due to a Water Heater issue.  Tyler came to my home very late at night and was amazing.  He quickly resolved my water heater issue and was helpful in suggesting some improvements that we should consider in the very near future. He was by far the most knowledgeable plumber that I had to my home since I moved in.
I rarely post comments on Yelp but felt obligated to provide positive feedback due to the great work they provided.  I was shocked to see the negative ratings & would suggest you give them a chance if you are looking for a service that they can provide.
Thanks!

Had a leaky toilet, and called Lowry, who showed up the same day I called.  Great! Well, the work was done professionally, but the price kept going up and up.  What should have been a reasonably priced job turned into price gouging of the worse kind.  Had to buy a service agreement to take advantage of their discount rates, but will never use them again.  When the office called to see how the work went, I told them the price was way out of line. The woman told me to expect a call from a manager to discuss the matter.  That was 5 days ago, not holding my breath on this one.
Do yourself a favor, and save yourself some hard earned $$$ and look elsewhere.

PS  I see where a representative from Lowry keeps responding to comments that they are not the lowest priced company.  You can provide a service at a reasonable price.  This is why your company will continue to get 1 and 2 star ratings from your (past) customers.

DO NOT CALL THIS CONTRACTOR!
The hot water line out of my new water heater sprung a leak.  I cleanly informed them that it was not a water heater issue.  The service rep (Sean) was nearby (within 30 minutes) and determined that it best to put on two short (less than 1ft) pieces of copper pipe and a new valve (not necessary) on top of my water heater.  He gave me a quote of $682.00 (no breakout for labor, parts or overhead expenses).  I told him this too high.   He stated that was the going rate and was not willing to negotiate. Since was was out of hot water and my wife is an invalid, I agreed to let him proceed.
He was done in less than 30 minutes.  I again said this was too high.   I called their customer service immediately and complained about the price.  Neither they nor their service manager, who called two days later were willing to negotiate a fair price.
This was a clear case of price gouging.

Awful predatory company.  Used them for plumbing and electrical when i first moved into my house 3 years ago (and nothing worked).  They charged outrageous prices!  They tried to charge me 150 to replace an electrical outlet (i declined). They charged me 600 to replace a ceiling fan (wires already there).  They installed the wrong faucet in my garage and it froze in the winter sending water into my basement.  DO NOT USE THESE GUYS.  There are lots of legitimate electricians and plumbers who will do a good job at a fair price.

Part 2: 2017
I had to change my review after the latest service from Lowery. I had them install a hot water heater. After being upsold a better brand with 10 extra gallons, I cannot tell you how disappointed I am. Our prior water heater gave us no problems (until it died), now our new and improved runs out of hot water after about 3 showers- which never happened before.   To make matters worse, I got NO response after I emailed them with my concerns. I guess they got my $ & wasn't important.  After some positive services, this will certainly be my last. 2 stars
Part 1: 2015
Lowry's services were fantastic.  I used them to install a new AC unit and also their plumbing services to service my water heater. Both times their crews were respectful, helpful and most importantly their prices were affordable. I was surprised to see the poor reviews but I can honestly say they were great. 5 star review.

My AC in a 3 year old town home was not working. The Lowry guy came out and got the AC working but could not explain what he had done to fix it. Regardless we paid the $90 call out fee. He also tried to sell us a maintenance/tune up package. The AC did start working but failed again when the temperature rose a week later. I called them to get them to come back out but they wouldn't do so without us signing up for the recommended service, ie the maintenance package, We called Accutech of Hatfield who were there within a couple of hours. The tech identified that the condensate removal pump had failed, replaced it and we were done. Clearly that was the problem the whole time but Lowry still charged me $90 for doing nothing and clearly couldn't identify or fix the problem.

I called Lowry Services for a problem I was experiencing with a light that was not working above my shower and within 24 hours Matt D showed up to take a look at the issue.  I expected Matt to diagnose the problem and schedule an appointment for the following week to fix but he said he could head back to the shop and get it fixed right then.  Matt was extremely professional and once the issue was diagnosed, he took the time to show me what caused the issue which I really appreciated.  Matt was able to fix the issue within an hour of arriving onsite and it really saved me a lot of time and not having to take another day off of work for a later repair.  Extremely professional electrician and I really appreciated the responsiveness of Lowry.  Would highly recommend utilizing their services - will definitely save you a lot of time and headaches!

Don't ever use this plumbing service! We called them over a year ago for a clogged drained and the technician Angel came out problem still wasn't fixed as he failed to look into basement drain so he had to return. Problem solved. So my husband called again for same problem and to our chagrin same technician. Before looking at the drain he opens his book and quotes a price of $499! My husband said for a drain clog! He must have saw sucker on his face and when my husband dismissed him then he offered to look at outside drain and then said maybe he can now do it for 186. Why drop the price now very suspicious. We called Horizon who did it for 99.00. Very criminal practices! Even when I called to complain about why high price was quoted for a simple problem and then changed to lower price all receptionist could say I'm not a technician Ma'am. But she justified him doing so! Stay away from this fraudulent company!!!!!

DO NOT CALL THEM! Save yourself the time, trouble and money. I don't ever write reviews but really feel this has to be mentioned.  I called them for a water heater leak.  The service man was quick on his feet and started taking it apart, all the while fast talking.  When we figured out the price he was quoting was crazy, we asked him to stop.  He was disrespectful and rude, my daughter and husband were also here and agreed he was quite rude.  He had only been here an hour, so we said how much for the hour you were here?  He said $450! What!!  I said you can't be serious, who earns $450 an hour.  His answer was well, usually it's in the book for $650.  We have subsequently hired another plumber replacing the same water heater for HALF the price.

We had a fantastic experience with Lowry Services!  The customer service and technicians were some of the friendliest, professional and happy to help people we have ever dealt with when facing a home maintenance issue.  We had electrical issues with our breakers plus our AC unit was sparking.  Called them up on a Saturday morning, when everybody else who is local is closed or just never calls you back.  They were very helpful and friendly on the phone and disclosed all fees upfront.  The first technician's car broke down half a block away and after he had called in to his dispatcher to send another person out, he still tried to help us troubleshoot while waiting for a tow truck.  The 2nd technician they sent came out after hours and Lowry's did not charge us the emergency rate.  Once we noticed that our HVAC system may be causing an electrical issue we called Lowry's back and asked if they could send out another person to look that over.  It was nearing the end of the day and they were still able to get somebody out.  The Customer Svc/Dispatchers followed up with us throughout the day to keep us posted on when the techs would be here and they followed up with us once everything was done to ensure we were happy.  All three technicians, Stephen, Timothy and Jim were extremely friendly, professional, knowledgable and seemed very happy to help us out.  Our issues have been fixed and we now have some peace of mind.  We will definitely be using Lowry's as our go to company from now on.  There were no surprises with the fees and everything was quoted before work was done.  We were shown the wear and tear / damage to some of our electrical components first and they explained everything before anything was done.  Highly recommend!  Our service area was Northampton County.

The service was great and the tech arrived promptly. He was friendly and efficient.

However, charging me nearly $200 for a $20 part was outrageous. Sure they are entitled to a premium for the in-home service but  marking up the price 10 X plus $89 service call for 10 minutes is highway robbery.

Nest time I'll pay someone else to diagnose the problem and them get the part myself. Even with overnight shipping it will be a fraction of the cost of these guys.

SAVE YOUR MONEY
TOTAL RIP OFF COMPANY

I called them for a simple drain clearing based on the advertised special price of $93. It turned into $700 and the bathroom sink drain line is not even close to being fixed!
I found out the hard way that this company is one of those plumbers that nickels and dimes you to death using that 3 ring binder with predetermined, jacked up prices for every little thing they do...
The guy shows up, looks at the sink, immediately tells me that he hates clearing drains, he's a plumber as if its beneath him. He constantly calls me dude. I'm thinking to myself why are they sending a guy that hates this work, I want someone who loves clearing drains and takes pride in his job and making customers happy and solving their problems.
Says we need a new S pipe and 'pop up', this is $700 and thinking that will clear the clog, I approved...I also have him look under the kitchen sink which appears to be inexplicably leaking - before even getting under the sink to see where the leak is coming from, this plumber tells me I need to replace the garbage disposal and install a new faucet. What!?!
Back to the bathroom sink --- he puts in new plastic pipe in about 20 minutes and informs me that it looks like the clog is lower down and I will need to replace the main drain pipe by cutting away the ceiling and floorboards for at least $4,000 to replace the original copper underground pipes. Informs me that his snake is too large and that I might want to call Roto Rooter because they use a smaller sized snake and they might be able to snake it.
Still recovering from the feeling of being so taken advantage of and literally robbed, It didn't even occur to me until after he left that he didn't even try to snake it, pour something in there, whatever your supposed to do he was just anxious to charge me as much as he could get away with and get on to his next job of the day. Maybe their plumbers are on commission and trained to use scare tactics and heavy handedness to extract as much money as possible from unsuspecting customers.

Would NEVER use again!

Avoid at all costs! Total scam! They require a technician to come out to give estimates, and there is a $49 dispatch fee. I had a total of 2 estimates, one to run 2 new circuits from the breaker which would have cost $1200. I got the required supplies and did it myself for $80. Another was for a ceiling fan box install with an attic above which would have cost $1300. Got another estimate from someone else that was $500. Avoid!!!

Needed a new lamp post head. Estimate $380 plus the lamp post head that I was supposed to provide. How can they ask $380 to connect two wires plus the ground wire. Cost me $49 to have to tell the service person no. Did the work myself. Would never even think about using them. Oh, one more thing, the guy kept pressing me to buy a one year service contract, because my kitchen was surely out of code. My kitchen was re-done and re-wired, following code specs, three years ago.

UNBELIEVABLE!!!
I was given an estimate of $907.39 to replace a pressure reduction valve. This part cost around $100 and can be installed in less than an hour. I guess their business model is built on gouging the poor souls who are stranded without water. This seems to be consistent with the other reviews. I'm sure there are more people who are too embarrassed to admit they got suckered by Lowry. DO WHAT I DID AND CALL A LOCAL PLUMBER!  I SAVED OVER $700.

Hold on to your wallets! These guys will charge about %30-40 more for jobs. We called them to do plumbing and electric in a kitchen we were renovating. Not only did they arrive late but their combined estimates were almost $8000 for a half a days work on normal jobs.when we asked them to itemize the estimate for parts and labor they couldn't do that. They have a big binder with tasks and prices. We told them to forgettaboutit! Called local electrician and we will be saving a lot of money. I guess those fancy trucks and binders cost a lot of money. Buyer beware!! Just an update to this review, we got another local electrician to come give us an estimate. Lowry estimate was $5600, new estimate including township permit which is required but was never mentioned by Lowry is $1030! That's about 1/5 the cost and will meet out building code requirements. Lowry is bad news and should be thrown in jail for robbing people!!

Sunday evening, I had sewer water backing up into my basement and could use the plumbing in my house.  I called Lowry with whom I have a service contract and they told me no one was available until the following day. I then contacted other plumbers and while waiting for a call back, Lowry called and said they could have someone out in two hours.  They demanded and upfront emergency fee of $148 and charged my card.  In the meantime, one of the other services called back and said they could be out in 20 minutes which made sense  with sewer water coming into my home.  Lowry never came out and refused to cancel the $148.  No other service demanded an upfront fee and they were $50 cheaper to begin with.  The were out previous and placed a leaky valve which required yet another service visit the following day.  They were quick to sell a service contract which cant even guarantee emergency service.  I am not sure how they made Bucks county best picks 2017

I can never prove it but I am convinced they broke my AC during a tune up.  It was old to start with but worked fine for the 4 years I have been in the house --then they come out for a tune up and suddenly it breaks down the next day?  Too big a coincidence for me.  First time they came out the guy said good news,  your system works fine--but here's 750 of maintenance items you need.  I said I'd think about it.  NEXT DAY it breaks down -- they come out and say its shot and needs 1000 of repairs (on top of the 750 they quoted earlier) and probably not worth fixing.  They are probably right, but no way are they getting to quote on my new system.

You have to be kidding me. Lowry's booked an electrician to come to my home to quote me for a ceiling fan installation. The woman who dispatched the job couldn't give me even a ballpark estimate, probably because they charge $49 right off the bat just to show up. They quoted me over $350 without a $99 membership fee, and if I opted for the membership, it ended up dropping the price to $349.62. This is a simple fan switch without any remounting or complications. I turned him away (with a $49 check) and immediately called another company. The owner of Affordable Electrical Services Inc. (215-396-1804) quoted me $99-$119 over the phone and immediately sent someone to me. Lowry's is a complete scam and the owners should be ashamed of themselves.

Mark, I completely agree.  My A/C stopped getting cold all of a sudden a few days ago, so called Lowry Electric in Harleysville. I assumed it needed freon. Very pleasant to deal with, arrived on time, etc.

The technician was very knowledgable and deduced the problem quickly--it was a blown capacitor.  He wrote me up a proposal, complete with membership in their yearly savings program and said the cost would be $340.  He had one on his truck, so he could do it that minute.  I was tempted because it was in the 80s, but after seeing the small part that was blown I couldn't justify the cost and told him I'd pay him for the assessment ($89) and get back to them.  I also didn't like that the cost wasn't itemized for labor and parts cost.

After doing a little research I found that the part is only $15!!!  I ordered one and had it shipped 2nd day air (which added another $16), simply shut off the electric to the condenser, and swapped the connections out for the new capacitor after finding a website describing the ease of it all.  It took me 3 minutes!!!

I don't know if it was because I'm a woman or because it was a hot day, but I paid $31 for a $340 estimate.  NOT COOL!!

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!  First off all, I agree with the above review.  The plumber here was may more concerned with quoting us for 'NEW items and more service projects than focusing on what the issue was, the sump pump.  It did need to be replaced so we had them do the work since they were here.  Sump pump was installed in July.  Then 3 weeks later, I called because there was a huge storm and the sump pump was not turning on.  They came out and fixed it and said the float was sticking to the side.  OK, problem fixed... so I thought.  On wednesday night (The night before Thanksgiving), I went into the basement to grab some items to pack for our Holiday trip to VA.  The basement was completely flooded...6-12 inches all over!  I called the company and they came out Friday morning after having to pay $700 to get the water professionally pumped out and not to mention that we missed our trip to our family's house for Thanksgiving.  When they came out they said that it was the float again and that it was their fault that it was installed too close to the wall.  Ok, so we then we told to call and discuss with the manager, on Monday since it was a holiday weekend and he wasn't in.  Boy, that is so nice that the manager is able to enjoy his holiday with his family and we were there cutting up rugs, cleaning, and throwing away all of our personal belongings.  So, Monday rolls along and again we call (I am still confused why as the customers, we are the ones calling the manager).  The manager, Joe Haney, is still not available.  He is either in meetings or on vacation until Wednesday, we are not sure because we get different answers from the secretaries.  Then my husband gets a call from their insurance company who wants to come out to survey it.  Well, I am guessing Joe Haney got the message about what happened since he was able to call his insurance company but still the customers that just went through a hardship due to their stupidity, still did not receive a call from A NYONE from Lowry.  Well, I sure hope Joe Haney had a fabulous Thanksgiving with his family...we sure didn't.  You would think one 5 minute call to an unhappy customer would be something easy and kind to do around the holidays.  I guess Lowry doesn't value that.  Oh, and good thing my husband works for a law firm...

This company is outrageously overpriced. The charged over $400 to change a light switch. They will try to convince you they are better than their competition however they are a complete rip-off with service technicians that are only trained to sell you things you don't need. Beware of this company. There are a lot of honest companies to choose from and this is not one of them.

You get what you pay for! Lowry Services is a total opposite of this saying. Do not waste $49 for trip charge and your time waiting for them to show up. I called them to fix a couple of outlets that lost power. A technician came, poked around with his multimeter for 10 minutes, sat down on the kitchen table, played around with his ipad software to give me a quote of $630 and he couldn't tell me what was wrong with the outlets when asked. He just replied oh, I have to diagnose and do some minor repairs for $630. Their business model is go to naive homeowners and charge $49 with crazy quotes. He also quoted me $2000 to have an outside lamp post installed which is only a few feet away from an electrical box. By the way, after a few weeks, I got them fixed by an electrician for $40. He spent about an hour diagnosing and fixing and charged me for 15 times less than Lowry. Thanks Lowry for teaching me patience and the ability to detect BS.

This business prays on individuals.  They charge $49.00 just to come out and then they charge a ridiculous price to fix the problem which includes a one year service contract.  They are so full of themselves.  I wrote a two page letter explaining my displeasure and received NO response!  DO NOT use them even though they claim they have all these awards.  The only thing they can claim, is they answer your call fast, and that is so they can rake in your money.  I will never again use them or recommend them for anything.  Buyer beware!!!!

I had my heating and air condition unit install last summer, the installer was great and they treated my house like there own. The over all project went very well.

Arrogant and overpriced, stay away, buyer beware:

Their price was $5100, 31% higher than the lowest price of $3900 and 16% higher than the other highest price of $4400 that I received for the same project.  The sales people appear as hot shot negotiators but they are really arrogant and not customer focused. When I called the sales person to provide him one last opportunity on price, he got angry and said he did not want my business. He must be used to being under priced.  Lowry's is the type of company that should go out of business quickly. Call them for an estimate only if you want to satisfy that you made a good decision selecting someone else.  Stay Away!!!!

They did a decent enough job but their prices are ridiculously high. I will never again use them for the price gouging alone

We called for a price estimate to reinstall our own dishwasher, toilet dryer, waste disposal, range and laundry tub after we had our kitchen remodeled. Their price to reinstall OUR OWN appliances was over $4000!  No, I did not misplace a decimal point. I was able to find a plumber to do the same thing for under $500.  I cringe when I think there may be people, especially the elderly , who are being ripped off by this company.  I would stay clear of these guys and their outrageous practices...

Worked from home this morning so I could meet them for two different projects (landscape lights and furnace tune-up) at 9:30.  Neither person showed up.  By 10:20 I couldn't stick around any longer (had to get back to work) so called the main number and was told their staff meeting ran late and they should have called you.  I've had them do work for us in the past and it was decent, but with this episode I'm officially done with them.  Need to find someone who actually wants my business.

Great Company!  Woke up to a freezing cold house and a broken furnace.  After having a technician out the same day we decided it was best to replace the entire system rather than do the repairs.  Bill Duffy was extremely professional providing us with detailed information with several options for replacing our current system.   He wasnt pushy at all(which we have dealt with when dealing with other companies) and allowed us to make the decision that worked best for our budget.    The installation crew was on time and very clean, laying drop clothes on our antique floors and wore booties.  They were even mindful about the noise while my son took his nap!  Being a stay at home mom I felt very safe being alone in the house with the crew.  To me thats very important.  Our new system runs great!  Very pleased and will be recommending Lowry to friends.

Did a great job upgrading our ancient electrical service to modern 220amp system. We feel that we got every cent of our expense and then some from Lowry. Professional and very expert company.

Called these people to come out for an entire day. I called to have power restored to my 82 year old mothers home and they kept promising to send someone who never showed up and they never called back after repeated calls from me. Terrible people

They gave me an non-itemized estimate for an urgent plumbing repair job of over $500. Since the repair couldn't wait and since they had a BBB rating of OK, I said to go ahead. I later discovered that the part cost about $30.00 at Home Depot. the repair took about 40 minutes. So, if you think $400.00 an hour is a fair rate, use this company. I think they are cheats.

Horrible, horrible, horrible!!!  Do NOT use them!  This is the 5th time in two weeks they have had to come out to fix a problem with the absolutely horrible plumbing job.  A sewer pipe coming out of the house snapped off just outside the foundation.  They assured us they would put gravel and a webbing of some sort under the pipe when they fixed it so if the ground settled, the pipe would not break again - they never did that.  The guys that came out said they had no gravel.  When they replaced the pipe leading into the house - they never sealed around it, so the first time it rained, we had water running down the wall into the basement.  We asked for an itemized statement to provide to our insurance company and after numerous calls to the supervisor Shawn, and his lying and saying he sent it to the insurance company - he still hasn't done it.  And we found out they charged us double what they charged our neighbor.  I cannot emphasize enough - DO NOT EVER USE THIS COMPANY FOR ANY WORK

I called a local Media number for emergency a/c service, on Sunday morning. Call was transfered to their service tech 40 miles away. He responded with in a hour, told me the problem was covered by manufactures warranty, he didn't have the part on his truck. Would get it and return first think Mon. morning. Estimate was $694.19,but would work with me on price. Monday morning comes and goes, its 95' degrees outside,he shows up around 3:30 in the afternoon, changes out 4 bolts to the fan motor and 3 wires, done in 15 minutes.  The labor charge was $446.39.  Plus the emergency charge from the day before $148.80, and a $99 check up fee. Grand total,$694.19.  I would not recomend them EVER, When I called the office for a break down on the labor JIM told me was a gun held to your head to make you sign the repair order.  Thats our price you signed for the work.  No explanation how the labor total was figured.  Their tech just wrote the bill, no book, no phone call.  I am not at all happy with their business practice, and feel I was taken advantage of.  Would not recomend them EVER.
