HISTORY
Established in 2003.
We are a family based plumbing and heating company that started in 1950. Originally Neill Bros. Plumbing, most well known for Neill 4 Sons Plumbing, and now John Neill & Son Plumbing & Heating. We are an extension of the Neill family of plumbers. John Neill, one of the original sons, has created his own business with his son established in 2003, bringing with us over 40 years of experience servicing the Philadelphia area. Based in Fishtown since the early 1970s, we service both residential and commercial customers all over the Philadelphia area with the emergency service you have come to expect and appreciate. A small family based company, we bring the quality and service you can count on to complete even the largest of jobs.

John Neill is one of 4 sons raised in the plumbing business started by his father, James Neill, in 1950. Starting his career around 1969, John helped carry his father's business, Neill Bros. and later Neill 4 Sons Plumbing & Heating, until his departure in 2003. In 2003, John took his expertise and went in his own direction bringing the service and quality many of his customers have come to appreciate and expect. Coming from a strong family of plumbers, John provides excellent emergency service to all of his customers along with the integrity of knowing the job has been done the right way. Serving the Philadelphia area for over 40 years, his reputation speaks for itself as he continues to provide the quality service to many generations of families in the area. His customers have come to appreciate and trust the small nature of the company, providing the highest quality of service no matter what the conditions.

He's simply honest. His work is always well done, he calls back later to make sure you're happy with it, he answers all questions in a way I can understand and never asks to speak to my husband or dad. They arrive on time, communicate well and their prices are fair. If you call for something he thinks you can do yourself, he'll flat out tell you how to trouble shoot it and to call back if you actually need him. Honest and hard working. Recommend him to all my neighbors as they move in. He's everyone's go to plumber on my block!

We love these guys. They've come by a few times, they're always friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable, and even willing to teach us something. They can be a little hard to get a hold of in short notice, but John always calls back soon and he's really nice!
I highly recommend them for large and small jobs.

We live in Fishtown and have used John Neill plumbing multiple times over the past several years. They are unfailingly prompt, courteous, professional, and reasonably priced. Highly recommended.
Had a backup last night and called late. They immediately called me the next morning and were out right away - really nice, very professional, and fixed the problem. Will call them again anytime I need a plumber!
John Jr. came out with a helper the same day as I called. They replaced a kitchen faucet and garbage disposal. They did a good job, tested for leaks, wore masks, and cleaned up. Thank you!

Great service. Our water heater was leaking, so I called in to get a quote. John called back by midday and talked me through options. They were able to get out the next day, and everything went smoothly. They ran me through what they had done and did their best to get the leaking/rusty water heater out without tracking water all over the place and cleaned up when they were done. Would definitely use them again.

I have used them three times, two for heating issues and once to install a gas range. The two times in which my heater wasn't working, they were out to my house within a few hours of calling and the problem was fixed. Each was a pretty quick fix, however, it was nothing I could do myself. What they charged was definitely reasonable and they are both super nice and very responsive. Highly recommended.
Absolutely great service. Had a pipe freeze over the winter to our outdoor faucet. Promptly returned my call and were willing to work around my schedule to be there. Did quick work and made a distinct effort to make the smallest hole needed to fix the problem. We initially were planning on just patching the hole but, when I asked if we could have the panel installed for easy access, they were out the next day and made sure it was what I wanted prior to installing. Finally, I was having another issue with plumbing that was still under warranty with my home builder. Since getting the builder out had been a slow process, I asked him to take a look. Although he could have done he job and been paid for it, he told me truthfully that I shouldn't use him if it's still under warranty. I really appreciated their work and will recommend them to any one in the area.

We had a plumbing emergency at our business where the main water valve coming off the street and into our warehouse started spraying water out. John picked up the emergency line right away and was able to send someone out to temporarily repair it in less than 2 hours. Quick, efficient, explained everything including what it would take for permanent repair if it fails in the future. Very fair pricing. Thank you!

Jack (the owners son) installed a new fixtures for my bathroom and I couldn't be happier. It took him a little longer than usual b/c of unexpected problems with the pipes and he didn't overcharge me on the count of it. Very considerate and nice. I am very happy to have a reliable plumber (they actually called me back and came when they said they would!) I highly recommend this company.
We had a water leak for over a month that was continually getting worse. The landlord sent another plumbing company who replaced the water heater but the leak didn't stop. Two other people came and couldn't solve it. John Neill came out and found the leak within 2 hours, was back the next morning with a saw to cut the floor open and had it fixed within two hours! Highly recommended. Super professional, respectful, knowledgeable and A+++ service.

Wonderful, knowledgeable, trustworthy service! We had an issue with the stems on our bath/shower, and got an estimate from another company who said there was no way to fix the issue without completely replacing the faucet, at a high cost. We contacted John Neill for a second opinion, and after explaining the supposed problem over the phone, we were quoted a max price for the same fix that was $100 less than the other company. They said they'd come out ready to do the job, but would see if there was an easier, less expensive fix they could do first. After looking at the system and the problem, they were able to replace our stems only, saving us hundreds while fixing the problem and saving us from another future problem at the same time. They know the systems that are used in OLD Philly homes well, and will give you the best, honest solution.
John made a repair to my house heater, which solved the problem.. However, 4 days later PGW came to house in response to my call to them of gas leak. PGW shut off gas to heater. It couldn't be used due to gas leak. Called John 4 times to ask him to return and see what was wrong. He never returned phone calls. Called another plumber and I bought a new heater and it was installed the next day. Never did hear from John. That could have been a nice sale for you John but you were a no show Jan 18, 2017
After packing all day to prepare to move, and a few hours before a scheduled showing of our property, we had a leaky pipe we tried to fix on our own go completely haywire, spraying water all over the closet and floor. We turned the water off and called a few plumbers to see who could help. John Neill had a full schedule for the day, but promised we would be he first appointment the next day. To my delight, his team finished earlier than expected, and John called me to ask if they could come by right away! They arrived within a few minutes, assessed the problem, made a special trip to get parts and fixed our issue in about 20 minutes. I was so grateful, not only to get to take a shower, but to have the problem corrected in time for the house to be shown!
These guys were especially accommodating, polite, efficient and thorough. I would use them again in a heartbeat.

We use John Neill for our 2 mixed-use buildings in Fishtown and for our plumbing at home. They are friendly, knowledgeable, reliable and great to work with. I highly recommend them.
