Customer Service for Horizon responded after seeing our review on Yelp. She listened to our concerns and was hoping we would continue using them. Presently,  we have hired someone else. We explained that a 4 hour window is too long to have customers wait, especially when a technician doesn't arrive within that time frame. We understand that sometimes they don't know how long a job will take. Perhaps they don't have enough staff.  The Customer Service representative gets 4 stars, since she was very understanding and wanted to help us.

After posting a one star review for the service or lack of I received regarding a tune up of my AC, I was contacted by Beth, a much nicer woman than the one I previously spoke to. She appologied for the treatment I received and was able to help me.  She went through a complete explanation, unlike the previous nasty person, and took her time to take care of my issue. Together we were able to work out the issue. I'm happy to see that there are still competent workers for this company and that they will listen to our concerns and try to accomodate their customers as best they can.  Thank you Beth!

A follow up to my previous review - I was reached out to by the President of the company (or maybe a bot) asking me to get in touch with customer service. I did that. The conversation boiled down to I'm paying $17,000 for a good warranty; most companies don't offer a warranty.

The one thing gained was that the rep could see from the record that I needed an additional service and would I like to schedule it now?  News to me - the last service tech (the third to address issues since the install) told us that he found the issue and that the next time we turned on the AC it would be working. It got colder outside after that so we weren't able to test it out.

The customer service rep told me that the issue still needs to be fixed and that nothing was repaired because, according to the notes, it was raining too much.

I scheduled service to be done Thursday (4/27) between 2-6pm. At 5:45pm I called to see if we would be expecting anyone to come out. Dispatch told me the technician is finishing a job in Pottstown (45 miles away) and then would be on his way. I told her that wasn't going to work since he would be arriving at 7pm or later.

I understand there are extenuating circumstances but...could I get a call at least?

I rescheduled for the following night 2-6pm. 6pm arrives and nobody ever came. To be honest I didn't even call after that.

I received a call this week asking how my service was...told them nobody showed up...two days in a row. Rescheduled for yesterday - someone showed up! Appears as though they fixed the problem.

The customer service rep I've been dealing with called to tell me that she was able to go to her higher ups and could offer me $250 dollars. I'm not going to say no to money, but the offer was so insulting that I could barely answer.

She requested that I update my previous post so that the public would know that Horizon reached out to me. So, here you go. Horizon reached out to me.

At this point, I think my request would be to have someone come out, rip the entire thing out of the ground and call it a day. I would prefer to never see the name Horizon again.

Please don't get caught up with this company, it's just a bad idea.

My garbage disposal had a huge leak, and I used Ez book to book an appointment.   Service was timely, but i had major sticker shock.  Getting a disposal replaced (that I supplied) and getting a drain cleaned cost me over $1000.  Im all for paying for service and have no complaints about quality or timeliness but I definitely was so surpised for the high fee.   Because i just needed it done now and was super busy, I'm sad to say i paid it instead of getting another quote or trying to DIY.   this was an expensive mistake i won't make again.

Just spent the most frustrating 20 minutes on the phone with arising services of New Jersey. Want to get a new hot water heater, they can't give any information on the phone. Literally can't tell me what brand of heater they use, what length of years on the warranty (if any) the heater would have, how much they charge per hour or job or anything. They want to charge $89+ tax to have me have them come out and possibly tell me they'll charge who knows how much to do the job (I actually asked them if they could at least say that it was under $3000 and they could not do that, and all I was asking for was a guesstimate, not a guaranteed quote for replacing a hot water heater that was last replaced 10 years ago).

terrible customer service. I have numerous properties that have been serviced by them over the last 10 years. No respect. I will be sure to explain to everyone they best stay away from this company.  I don't know what changed there but be wary.

Twice in the last week I have made my plans around a scheduled air conditioner service. Both times now it has been cancelled by Horizon an hour before service was due to be done.

I will never use Horizon again after our experience with their HVAC team. I booked an appointment for a smart thermostat installation in January. The technician that came out messed with the wiring for a while on our indoor units and thermostat, and, after a couple hours, ultimately came to the conclusion that our smart thermostat was broken. The regular thermostat that had been installed worked with the heat, so he suggested we order a new thermostat and install it ourselves. When he left, the regular thermostat remained in use. This part was fine, as the wiring was supposed to be set up to make it simple to put a new smart thermostat on and saves us money to buy it elsewhere. So, we buy a brand new smart thermostat and install it, still working fine with the heat. However, we have discovered in the warmer months that the A/C unit outside would not kick on. The indoor unit would run, the thermostat (we tested both the smart and regular thermostat) registered that it was trying to cool the house, but the outdoor unit just wouldn't cooperate. My husband suspected this was a wiring issue near the indoor unit, as the outdoor unit had power running to it, is less than 1 year old, and the thermostat wiring was correct. We decided to go with a different company to see what the issue was. The other company diagnosed and corrected the issue in less than an hour, and verified that the thermostat wiring was correct and the wiring by the indoor unit was not. The technician from Horizon came out here and messed up the wiring and left us without A/C and without the working smart thermostat. I'm starting to wonder if our initial smart thermostat was not broken, and if we spent $200 on a new one for no reason AND we paid Horizon $300 to come out here, only for them to mess up what was working correctly before they got here.

TL;DR- We spent a total of $500 for Horizon to simply install a smart thermostat on a perfectly working, brand new HVAC system, and were left with no smart thermostat and no A/C. We spent $500 to have someone come out and mess up our HVAC system and then had to pay a different company to come fix it.

used to be an awesome company eager to serve their customers now they continue to raise prices and significantly lower their quality and customer service.  after receiving numerous  emails about setting up my AC tune up i contacted them and was scheduled for May 3rd, the day before called and said they had to reschedule and would not be able to get to me until 3 months later August 3rd. what a JOKE and very sarcastic responses to my request for a reason why!!!  RUN DON'T WALK AWAY FROM THIS CoMPANY!!!!!

Good if you have money to burn.

For my Boiler/Hot water heater:
Option A-  they recommended REPLACEMENT for a 10 yo system LOL
Option B - $3400 in parts and labor- and they did not want to discuss the parts/labor breakdown of the line items.

I fixed myself in 1 hr for $70 in parts.

Horizon even specified an air bleed process for $1200 - which my system does automatically.

They couldn't even get their quote correct - written estimate was $1200 lower than tech's correct verbal quote.  5 calls later, I still don't have the corrected in writing.

Horizon was a great choice for our plumbing needs.  They were able to send a technician within hours of our phone call and at a surprisingly affordable rate.   In our desperate position, we were treated fairly by the company.

Cody did an excellent job and represented himself and horizon with great dignity and workmanship.  We called on a Friday night for a slow drain in the kitchen which he was able to fix.   He was educational, polite and cleaned up the area very well when finished.  Cody definitely set a high standard for the trade and has great potential.

Beware of this company! Go somewhere else!! Wish I could give it zero
. Our unit ceased working and upon reading the google reviews, we called Horizon to have our house assessed for the new unit.our home was evaluated by Tony Gonzalez, a 'Comfort Specialist manager' forHorizon
The following day our installation techs, Steve, and Dave, began the installation and worked into the following day. Upon completion of the installation, it was suggested we have our air ducts and vents cleaned to increase the unit's efficiency, so we scheduled the service call.
The following week, our air ducts and vents were cleaned as suggested. Almost every week we called the company with issues with the system and each time we were informed to allow another week or two before addressing the issue again with Horizon. Each time Horizon made a service call, their service did nothing to improve the situation. When they arrived for the call, we watched them and all they did was open the unit and then leave fifteen to thirty minutes later. After each service call, they again told us to give it more time. Each time they came out we were charged a service fee of $95.00.
Each time we called customer service the representative assured us they would submit a request with the billing department to send a copy via email. We have yet to receive the bill for payment, and it seems it was ignored so interest could indeed accumulate.
When the technician came we were informed that there was no power The Horizon technician, Jermaine, tried to put the blame on the electrician who came to change the lights in the basement, where the unit is located. The electrician did not touch the unit. However, the Horizon technician was standing around preferring to blame the electrician before even checking to see if there was an issue with their system. After thirty minutes left but not without charging us with another service fee.
They were unable to determine which switch the installer had assigned it to since the installation tech mislabeled it on #15, when it was revealed to be #13. After determining the issue, the electrician informed me that the issue had to do with the system not him and left. Immediately, Robert Rivera, the Horizon technician began to shift the blame back to the electrician.
Initially, Robert refused to open the fur ace just like the previous technicians. If the first technician opened it the first time, they might have been able to resolve the issue and avoided the unit burning up. It is very clear that Horizon has been giving us the runaround and at the least very unprofessional. Robert left to pick up an item and came back within fifteen minutes, he informed me that the whole unit is completely broken, and it would require a new unit and that we would have to pay out of pocket on top of the $26,000 we already owed. He stated that the smell that omitted the night before came from the unit, and it was because the whole unit was burning for whatever reason .We asked to speak with the operational managerwe spoke to Marissa, Horizon Customer Service Manager. Marissa emphasized that the removal of the unit is out of the question and that they would like to send a senior warranty technician to evaluate the whole system. we waited for the technician that Marissa scheduled to come to our residence, but they were a NO-SHOW. We called the company once more and spoke to Chris Reesey, operational manager, who claimed that he was not aware of our issues. After we summarized the issues, he stated he was not aware of our issues and that Robert Rivera was a Senior Warranty Technician and that Mr. Reesey knew our case based on his notes. He stated that there two issues: 1) electrical and 2) cooling. We disagreed and informed him that it was one issue from day one. The unit was faulty, and Horizon was persistently trying to dodge their responsibility to properly install and service the unit. It is our understanding that based on the information from Robert Rivera, they cancelled the visit for the new technician and chose not to notify us. We informed him that when Jermaine came, we discovered that their junction box did not turn the switch for the unit on but rather was for turning on the basement lights. Worst customer service ever! Our unit is still broken! Never resolved so now in process in hiring a lawyer. Please beware of this company!!!

Horizon has lost me as a customer. I called them out for a simple spring tune up, zero issues with my heat pump system. At the end of the tech's visit, he told me the system was in bad shape and needed a full replacement. He pressed that now was the best time to replace before it failed, and set up an appointment for someone to come out for a quote.

It just didn't sit right with me, so I called in another company for a second opinion. The tech from this company said he thought a full system replacement was absurd, all I needed were two new (cheap) parts, said my system has been well maintained and that it has at least 5 years left on it. Whole visit and part replacement cost less than $400.

On further research, I found lots of people saying the same things - Horizon uses scare tactics, their techs are told to sell you on a new system and they get a financial incentive if they do so, and up charge horrendously for a new system.  This company is clearly scamming people and if you hear from them that you need a system replacement, get a second opinion.

Here is the experience.you will get if you call these jokers for H and C services. Things start out great. They answer phone, make timely appointments and follow up through email and text. But when they arrive at your home they will sit in front of your home on their cell phone for and a average of 17 minutes (happened twice) while you wait and then once they get out of the van the first thing they will do is ask you to  put your dogs away!

Great company to engage with.

I will start with the good. Our technician was amazing. He was young but so knowledgable about the HVAC. He showed me my issues, did his best to remediate them, and educated me. He was not my issue by any means...

As a recommendation I asked to have a sales individual come to my house and estimate a brand new HVAC system. After over an hour of walking through my house and counting every deposit and return and taking measurements he proceeded to draw up an estimate onto the back of a piece of paper. The estimate for a 80% 90k BTU and 14 SEER HVAC system was $19,000. He then proceeded to tell me I could finance for 11 years at $245 a month. This would be well over $30,000 after 11 years. I nearly choked when he told me this. I then told him I will be getting other quotes. He proceeds to tell me This isn't car sales but let me go call my boss and see if I can work anything out. He came back with $1,500 off total.

Since, I've received 3 quotes for higher efficiency products with more additional items and they all have been less than $15,000...total.

Clearly Horizon is more worried about wrapping busses and pairing their logos onto bridges than providing fair estimates to potential clients.

My heater tripped a fault code for a high pressure switch failure.  I reset the unit and got it working again, but decided it would be a good idea to call and have someone check it out and maintain the using as I knew it was 13 years old.   The technician came out and told me that the error was likely due to top much gas being delivered to the system and that my gas valve was not adjustable.  His solution was to close the ball valve to the the unit slightly to control the gas flow.   He then went on to look at the electrical on the control board.   The unit was functioning just fine at this point.

I left him alone for about 10 minutes and thought to myself, he should be done by now...  When I checked on him, he told me that the unit was throwing 5 or 6 codes at him that did not make any sense and now felt that either the control board JUST failed, or the gas valve went bad while her was there.  He was glad it happened while he was there....!   He went on to tell me that he could not get the part I needed until the next day and wasn't really sure which one was bad, so it was going to be trial and error.

My options he gave me were:
1) pay $1200+ for a control board to install the next day
2) replace the unit for $12,000 to $20,000.

I chose option 1.

When he left, I now had no heat, a wife, a 70 year old mother in law  and a 6 year old boy in a house that would make its way down to 45 degrees.   As we sat around keep as warm as we could, I decided to look at the unit myself.  Being an electrician, I have a basic understanding of wiring....  Something looked fishy with the control board...  I swapped 2 wires that looked like they were in the wrong place and the unit only gave 1 error code not... Ignition failure..... NOT 5 or 6 codes...

I called another HVAC company recommended by a close friend.  He was able to come out the next day.  He told me that the gas valve is adjustable and that the previous technician closed the valve and stripped the setscrews...  He was able to open them up and now the unit works fine again.

Now I have to replace the gas valve that was damaged, but it is 1/3 of the cost provided by Horizon.

It is hard to believe that a company would partake in this type of business... maybe I am too kind hearted.... or just plain naïve  But it is clear to me, that the failure of the heater was manufactured by Horizon's Technician in an effort to overprice any type of repair.

I STRONLY SUGGEST CHOOSING ANOTHER HVAC COMPANY FOR ANY OF YOUR HEATING/COOLING NEEDS.

Our AC unit was not working, sent out worker-immediately had issues with the fact that our unit uses freon. Replaced capacitor, charged us $633 for service call and part/installation (looked a comps online...much lower.) Then proceeded to tell us our unit was overfilled with freon and he would remove some as it was overstressing our AC unit....at a cost of $485 to us. We have never had freon added to our unit, and it is old. We declined. A week later, unit broke again. Checked our receipt....they charged us an additonal $58 for a 'priority partner plan plus' which I never was informed of. Would NEVER do business with this company again. Money grab.

I love this company and have been using them since they installed my HVAC system a number of years ago. We are also Preferred Partner members. So why a 3 star review?

On August 18th, I scheduled my winter service check up. It was set for 10/17/22. I got the emails and texts confirming the appointment even as late as the evening of 10/16. The morning of 10/17, after taking off from work to meet the technician, I got a call saying I need to reschedule my appt since there are many customers who have no service and they take priority. They rescheduled my check up for 12/1! I asked them if they knew about the backlog for so long, why didn't they let me know earlier...or did it just happen overnight?

Hope they earn a 5 star review from me again like I usually give them, after my Dec 1 check up. Hope they don't 'forget' my appointment.

My old central unit just went. I had used Horizon for many years for AC and Heating tune-ups. They replaced a capacitor twice over the last several years. Charged me $445 last time. I know they mark-up parts but this is ridiculous. The capacitor cost around $28. They already charge $59 for the tune-up which is fine. I know they aren't making any money on that considering what they pay their techs, transportation and running a business. Let's say they value a tech at a $100-$150 an hour. It takes about 2 minutes to unscrew the housing where the capacitor is. Another couple of minutes to check the capacitor with a meter and observe it's condition. At best even with a part mark-up this job is around $250. The labor is negligible. Replacing a capacitor is the easiest job an HVAC tech does.

Horizon isn't all bad. They show up when they promise. They answer the phone quickly. The issue with them is their profit margin is ridiculous. I'm not against a business to make money but what you are paying for Horizon's advertising budget which is enormous. I told some locally owned and operated what I paid for the capacitor job and their jaw dropped. I had the capacitors replaced both times because they were failing. It's preventive maintenance because when your unit breaks down you end up paying for a hotel room which I'm doing now because my bedroom is too hot to sleep in.

I had Horizon replace my garbage disposal. It was $600. Again that is easily double what anyone else charges. Why did I do it. I couldn't run my dishwasher or clean my dishes and the other appliance repair companies earliest appointment was over a week away. Horizon came out the next day. You are paying for fast service but it is exorbitant.

They are a great company if you are wealthy and price is no object. Just tell me in what universe a capacitor retails for $495. Google Trane, Lennox or any of the top of line companies and show me where the part is $495. It's $27.35 at Amazon.

After jumping through hoops to reschedule my cancelled Service Visit, Horizon Technician, Christian Misar, arrived as expected within the appointed time window!  Chris was timely, polite, professional and he took the time to throughly check over my two heaters systems.  He took the time to explain what he was doing and what he was finding!  Upon completion, he review all of the test parameters in a pictorial manner and provide a complete and concise explanation of each of the results!

I would highly recommend Chris and would welcome him back into our home for next year's preventative maintenance of both of our heater / AC systems.  Thank you Chris for a great job!

PS: their management team could learn from their technicians about quality customer service and communications!  I'm still waiting for their business manager, Charlie H. to call me back regarding their untimely cancelling my last service appointment!  Please read my previous review for more details...

Still waiting for a callback.  I set up my heater checkup on August 18th for an October 1 appointment.  Got a text confirming this appt the night before.  The morning of Oct 1, I got a call canceling my visit and was told Dec 1 is the earliest they can come out.  The morning of they cancelled me.  I took off work for them.  I am also a priority plan member.  I left an earlier yelp review about this and was responded by someone who said I should call a customer service manager.  Did that this past Monday.  It's now Saturday and no response.  Is this the same Horizon it used to be?

I booked appt online as prompted when i called the number listed on their website. At the end , it said someone will reach out to me. The appt date and time came and went, no calls, noone shows up. I call again , speak to operator to reschedule. I was told earliest available is 2 months from now. I told them their website lists same day or next day or it's free. She laughs and says , that's not true.

This is false advisement and poor customer service. Wonder how they got such high rating on google. For how expensive they are, you atleast expect good service

I was looking for a replacement heater and was advised to check out Horizon. They were very through and helpful in picking out the proper system for my home. After spending over $1000 to repair our AC unit, it still isn't working. They came back out twice, made promises, then ghosted me. I also discovered they tacked on all sorts of extra charges for some membership program and other things that were not discussed with me before i paid. The technicians acted professional while they were here, but clearly they were over their head with our AC problem and took our money rather than acknowledge they couldn't fix it.

Horizon installed our heating and air conditioning system 5 years ago. I paid top dollar for it at the time, basically rushed in to having it installed the next day.  I scheduled a service for the furnace approximately 2 weeks ago for today. I received a text message confirming the appointment with a window of 8am to 12pm. At 12:11 I called them because no one has shown up or called, texted etc. Per their website if they are late your service is free. The representative claims they called yesterday to reschedule it. I have no text or voicemail from them. The earliest they can reschedule me is early January. That is totally unacceptable and I told them that. I am beyond frustrated with them!

I will never go with them again. They started off great and came right out, when the man got here he looked at everything and said it was going to be a capacitor and said he would have it up and running in no time. so I said go ahead and put the part on. Then he comes in and says sorry but now its gonna be a whole new system. He charged us $421 for the capacitor that I can get online for $14 but I was fine with that because he knew what he was doing we thought. But when he said it wouldn't work I thought we wouldn't have to pay for the part but he said the only way we would get our money back is if we went with them for a new system. Everything said and done that day cost almost $600 for him to just say we need a new system. I could have had any HVAC person do that for free. They are a rip off.

Have to agree with a lot of the reviewers. Had my unit put in on 4th of July 2021. After several call backs to get it installed correctly finally had the yearly service to check everything out. Paid to replace filter which I expected BUT then 3 weeks later a light comes on that says change pad.  So now I am paying for the service call, plus their gas surcharge plus the pad. Again, I can expect to pay for the a filter or pad, but shouldn't the technician have checked everything thoroughly so I wouldn't be calling them again. I guess they need to make money so they don't inspect everything at one time. Good note - the technician are pleasant.

Will never ever use this company or recommend to anyone i know. Tried to sell a senior 85-year-old military veteran a $17,000 furnace and air conditioning system.  First, they claimed to not have or if they could find the part.  installation would be $1,800 dollars for part. Called another company next day. Came our cleaned it changed parts system started working. NO CHARGE. Damn shame companies do business like that to seniors.

I lost the functionality of the HVAC system and looked for a reputable repair service. It was fairly easy to book a call for the following day. The technician was very professional and knowledgeable. He was able to provide me with a diagnosis and quote for the part needed. The pc board was not readily available and needed to be ordered. My instincts told me to get a second opinion. The price for the part was 300% above what the second choice I made. I was also charged 25% more just for visit. If you are in desperate need of HVAC repair, Horizon is quick to respond but, extremely expensive and you may not have your service restored.

Scam artists.  I had a 4 year old
Boiler with a minor problem,  they wanted to sell me an entirely nee system.
I'd be willing to bet, most people had a new system installed by horizon.  I'd also be willing to bet that the system that was replaced did not need to be replaced.

We turned the heat on for the first time this season and our furnace would not stay on.  We scheduled an urgent service appointment for the next day between 4-8pm.  No one showed up by 8pm, and no one contacted us.  We called Horizon and they said the technician was 45 minutes away and still working on another job.  Instead of having him show up after 10pm on a weeknight, we just rescheduled for the next day, again between 4-8pm.

We then repeated the same story the next day.  No one showed up by 8pm, and no one contacted us.  We called Horizon, and we got a similar story about the technician being on another job, at least a half hour away.  We just canceled and went with another company.

I understand this must be a busy time of year, but if a business can't even come close to a scheduled arrival window two days in a row -- especially for emergency service -- that's a problem.  And the complete lack of communication certainly didn't make it any better.  We're not willing to get burned a third time, so we found another local company that will get our business moving forward.

My system quit on us. We used horizon to replace out entire system. They were out next day and worked all day and were completed in one day. Works great! Explained everything with us and what all the parts do and how to use everything. Knowledgeable, dependable, respectful and friendly.

My last job started off rocky but Joe our technician got the job done and quickly. He explained what was to happen. This was a fairly straightforward job. It was done in a little more than an hour and used few  parts.
The cost of the job was pricey. Not having a rough estimate in advance puts the custmer at a disadvantage. Once they are at your house, your most likely not going to send them away and if it were an emergency, you definitely wouldn't.
I would give the technician 10 stars for the job they did. The company is easy to reach and they react but their pricing can be sticker shocking. I plan to use them in the future but will consider alternatives. I would like to be a loyal customer but fear they will price me out

spent $11000 having Horizon replacing our air conditioning unit and it didn't even work for 24 hours! they sent out a tech to look at and he said there was nothing wrong with It, the temperature in the house was 92, he said it mysterio must have fixed itself. not the answer you want to hear after spending $11000, I am sure I will have problems in the future things don't jus t fix themselves!

My thermostat was not providing the heat that I needed and I called horizon for services. The first tech they sent was Gabriel. He was good, tried his best to fix the problem but after being at my home for over 2 hrs, he didn't know how to turn my boiler back on.(which was on when he arrived) he had to dispatch a senior tech to come look at it which couldn't be done until the next day. Ok, Day 2 and the senior tech arrives and my husband shows him our thermostat that we had prior to the one Gabriel installed and he looked at it and said the thermostat is not responding to my boiler because it's not compatible.... He goes to his truck and brought back the Honeywell that we originally had and installed it, and tell us that our system should be back to normal. No testing, nothing. 20min after he leave, I noticed that it's getting extremely cold in my home while my thermostat is on heat and immediately call the office to inform a rep. They told me that the senior tech was home and that they were gonna put me on an emergency list and someone will be out to my home, but it's gonna be late and I agreed. At midnight, Ronald Cook arrived to my home. And I'm thinking he's gonna be quick to dash being it was late and he probably was gonna be tired but to my surprise, Mr Cook was full of life and ready to get to the route of the problem no matter how long it took. He was so knowledgeable and took his time to listen to what my problem was. He checked my heat pump and immediately found the problem. He went above and beyond to make sure that my system was responding to commands and went into my settings and fixed all the errors that was not set inside my settings on my thermostat. He waited to make sure my home was heating up and told good life stories to me and my husband while we waited. He even stated that his birthday was the following day and how he was just happy to have a job the he loves. Ronald deserves all the best to offer from this company because he really take time to insure that customers are happy. We really appreciate him

Don't even waste your time with this company. Every time a technician comes out they are trying to sell you something. They have inexperienced technicians come to your house and break things and have other technicians come out to repair it. This is ridiculous. I had to pay more money with this company.

Update on my previous 1 star review on how Horizon Services overcharging 3000% (with only 2yr Warranty) for a CapacitorI found on Amazonfor less than $10 with 5yr Warranty...ADDITIONAL DETAILS: I found out Horizon did NOT give me a $266.61 credit, like Marisa said she would, & ONLY charge me $49 for servicing my heater...THEY CHARGED MY CREDIT CARD THE FULL $315.61!  So I did as I said I would...I called my Credit Card to DISBUTE this charge & told them everything that happened.  They said they would back me up on this dispute. I hope Horizon gets their act together & finally refunds my money, otherwise they'll find themselves on the news about how they're taking advantage of so many people, ripping people off by overcharging on parts, & lying to customers when the customer is not satisfied. NEVER EVER BUY SERVICES FROM HORIZON...& BTW also found out that just last year they acquired Hutchinson Services as well...more than likely paid for by all their victims (customers) that they took advantage of & overcharged for parts & Services. BUYER BEWARE! ALWAYS CHECK AROUND, ESP ON AMAZON IF YOU CAN OR FEEL COMFORTABLE INSTALLING CERTAIN PARTS YOURSELF, there's YouTube videos for everything. #CHANGE #STOPHORIZONSERVICES #STOPOVERCHARGING

They used to be really good - now they can't be bothered to show up for appointments, 4 days out and they are hours late or just do not show!! We pay a monthly service fee so we're supposed to be priority, and still all we get is the runaround.

An appointment for summer servicing was made 6 months ago and it was cancelled the morning of the appointment. I had taken a half day off from work. They said they had too  many emergencies.  On a day when the weather was 72 degrees, someone's air conditioning not working is considered an emergency. FYI: Horizon you are not an Emergency Room,
Of course, a system not working is more of a problem then a routine service but this isn't a triage system it's an appointments first system. It's unfortunate that someone's system is not working but I am losing a total of a day's pay because I have to reschedule and that is a big problem.

The Horizon Services team was professional, knowledgeable, and efficient.  We had a HVAC service call on Wednesday and they found the compressor on our 7 year old Carrier AC unit was busted.  Doug (the Horizon technician) did the diagnostics and research and found that our unit was still under warranty and had a new compressor installed for us by Friday afternoon.  We are grateful for the responsiveness and diligence of the Horizon team.  We would definitely recommend them!

My AC wouldn't cool well and so since I have been getting their soliciting mail constantly I gave them a try (A couple of neighbors told me not to call them but I didn't listen). I first called the week before Memorial Day and the person on the phone told me that if it wasn't an emergency I should call after June 1st. We don't use the AC much so I wasn't in a hurry. I called the following week and explained to the girl on the phone that the AC wouldn't cool well and she told me that this doesn't count as a tune up and so they would have to charge 89 + 20 or so. I agreed and scheduled the appointment. (Their tune up offer is $79 including up to 1lb of refrigerant free).  The technician came and after checking the AC he said that the system needs approximately 1 lb of refrigerant and that the total cost of his visit would be 400+ .As you can imagine that was quite different from what I was expecting to pay. He told me that if I didn't want him to proceed I would still have to pay the 89 dispatch fee + 20. Since I wasn't very happy he called his manager. He then told me that he made a mistake and that I needed 3lbs of refrigerant. I spoke also with the manager and he told me that I am getting a great deal due to the mistake. Of course I paid the $401 and had him charge the system. (I wouldn't pay them just for visiting and doing nothing). He did nothing else repair-wise just charged the system. I had to ask for at least a return filter since they include it in their tune up offer that they bombarded me with. Bottom line...Don't fall for the $79 tune up because even if it is only a tune up, you will pay 99+tax (since they also charge a 20 surcharge fee that they don't mention in their promotion). They considered my case an emergency (on their own) even though I never said it was one and the rates were different. At the end he had me sign a bunch of things on his phone and when I received the documents in my email there was a waiver included, claiming that I requested an immediate emergency service. I think trying to deceive customers is not how you do business. Honesty goes a long way and that's what these kind of companies with the constant soliciting don't get. I guess they work on a one and done kind of basis. No complaints with the technician who was very respectful and apologetic. How is it possible for a company with these kind of tactics to have a 4.7* average score in Google reviews?

Long-in-short, customer of theirs for several years with maintaining my heat pump but dropped them for MoreVent.

It wasn't the sales techs that always push maintenance agreements. It wasn't the petty charges (one proposal included an estimate to remove a deceased mouse that had gotten into the heat pump... which I would have simply picked up and tossed into the woods before they closed it up had I been made aware).

What was the straw that broke the camel's back was after the most recent visit, we had agreed for Horizon to call me the Monday after the appointment to discuss new heat pump options - I was finally ready to buy a new system. Monday no call. Tuesday no call. I call Wednesday multiple times but gave up after waiting more than 5 minutes each time (so much for having the service plan for priority service -- which they recognize you by phone # when calling so not sure if they are unable to prioritize existing customers on inbound calls or not). I take to online chat and the person/bot said not to worry and they'll have someone call me right away from a specific number. I get the call and pick up -- more hold music... after waiting some more, it was evident I was simply placed back in the queue. Someone eventually got back to me while I was in a meeting (of course) so they left me a VM saying there is about a 30min wait time when calling in and I just need to wait it out. Forget that.  Put a few RFQ's out to other service providers and got a flurry of responses. MoreVent responded within 15 minutes and had convenient evening availbility within the next day or two. They installed a new system the following week. Sorry Horizon, you had your chance.

I provided honest feedback to Horizon (they asked in an appointment follow-up email) and I let them know what was going on.

My mistake, and the actual prompt for this review --- Horizon has been calling me now multiple times a day, but only ringing once and then disconnecting. I actually got to pick up before the call dropped but they still hung up. I would have saved them from this scathing review but I shouldn't have to block the number of an established business.

For me, the sun has set on this horizon.

I had them come out for a general maintenance special they were offering, I did not check their ratings before hand--something I'll never do again even for something this small. The serviceman showed up and replaced a filter. He then went on and on about all types of broken pieces I have on my unit. I told him it worked fine and just wanted whatever came in the general maintenance deal. He continued to try and hard sell me on items that seemed totally unnecessary.  When I received the follow up email where he stated he would list the needed repairs it was blank and just showed the minor service performed. I had another local AC company out today and they said your unit is in perfect condition, it's 4 years old--they charged nothing for the 10 minute appraisal. I'm amazed they have 3 stars. BE CAREFUL EVERYONE!

Total ripoff called for my ac not blowing cold air within 10 minutes of the techs arrival I was told my unit had a  line restriction and the repair would cost 2700.00 then I was told that we should consider maybe replacing the complete system keep in mind my ac unit is only 3 years old.  We had another company come out he had us up and running in about an hour for 200.00 including the minor part that was causing the problem.
So I would stay stay away from Horizon either the tech was clueless or they are just out to rip you off.

Update: called them to service their own unit.  Was told there were no issues.  Harriett's Energy Services came out and indicated that the wrong size filter was installed and the dampers were removed.  Do not bother calling Horizon.  I have spent more than 10k in fixing their errors.  It's sickening.

I've had horizon services at my old property which we've turned into a rental property for both HVAC and plumbing work.

Larry was very informative and explained everything thoroughly when it came to my heat pump. Jayson was very helpful when it came to replacing my toilet after my husband thought it was a good idea to replace our toilet himself.

Each tech were very patient with my children who are all three under the age of 10.

My HVAC unit was not replaced by Horizon and very much regret after the company who made the replacement caused a flood in my kitchen. We had to replace our entire first level flooring when I was 9months pregnant with my son. We had to live in a hotel for a week  a week before Christmas.

Overall my experience with Horizon has been very good and will continue to do my business with them in my new house in New Jersey.

Our hot water heater tripped, unfortunately, we don't know much about water heaters so we called Horizon. We have mixed feelings because one technician was stellar, while the other was not so much. We probably can't even call the second guy a technician because of his poor service, lack of knowledge, and demeanor. Caleb was our first technician and was very knowledgeable, understanding, patient, and explained everything very well. He made us feel comfortable in trusting him to let us know what was wrong with the water heater. Gary was our second technician who came out the next day because we were having water pressure issues. Gary came into our house, did not touch the water heater whatsoever, took a 2-second glance at our water heater and told us we had to replace the water heater completely. We were in disbelief because the day prior, Caleb had told us everything was working okay. Instead of telling us potential causes for decreased water pressure throughout our house, Gary was lazy and just wanted to make some extra money and told us to replace the whole system (a not so cheap procedure). After he left, my family and I did some research and flushed the water heater out ourselves and was able to fix our water pressure problem. Gary would've made us spend nearly $6,000 for a new water heater. Unbelievable. HE PERFORMED NO TESTS! JUST A GLANCE. In one word, we felt disrespected.

Weve had an absolutely horrible experience with Hirizon Services.  We purchased the PPP Gold service agreement on 12/8/21  which includes priority service. What a complete waste of money! Our furnace stopped working Saturday night. We were given an appointment between 10 pm- 2 am that night. We waited up half the night - freezing with no heat in the house; they never showed up for the appointment. We called the main number at 2:30am only to be told there was a mix up and their tech went home so no one would be coming out. The technician then called and said he had the part we needed on his truck and could fix the furnace in the morning. A technician  came Sunday at 10:15 am and within 10 minutes advised us we would be better off replacing the unit costing anywhere from $6-12,000. My husband asked him to just replace the blower motor we needed; the tech said they'd order it and we'd be called Monday morning for installation. Note, we still didn't have heat; the temperature was in the 20's. The next day, I called three times and my husband called once. We were given a run around and lied to. One person said the part was ordered and they were waiting to receive it. The next person said they didn't know the status, another said they were trying to determine the part number so they could actually order it. Earlier they said it was ordered, it was not. We were told there's nothing more they could tell us and we'd just have to wait for the part- they'd call us when it arrived. Keep in mind, at this point we were without heat for two days with outside temp 30 and inside temperatures in the 40's. Tuesday - not a single call from Horizon. They knew we were without heat and absolutely cared less. We could no longer wait in a house with the inside temperature at 48 degrees for days. We called amother local company who came immediately, found the part and repaired our unit within a few hours and more than 60% less than Horizon's quote! Here it is four days later and still nothing from Horizon. Thank God we aren't waiting on them to find and replace the part. We feel they were hoping we'd say just replace the whole unit when we got cold enough. We should  be refunded the cost of their useless service agreement. We did not receive the service they claim to provide when we purchased it. It is unbelievable to us how we were treated and how much they don't care if their customers are cold and without heat in the middle of winter. Do not use this company!

Be careful when setting up an appointment with is company was told over the phone that they could not give pricing over the phone to install a smart thermostat. They would not even give me a starting or a max price. All they wanted was there dispatch fee for coming out. Was told over the phone that would be $79 but then was told $95 when they were here which I refused to pay bc all the info they gave me they could have easily given me over the phone. The service tech that came out even said I don't know why they waste everyone's time by doing things this way. They wanted to charge me almost $2,000 to install 2 smart thermostats. Which would have only cost $400 to purchase the thermostats themself. I understand there being an installation fee but come on over $1,600 is a little crazy to me. This is why they would not give me any info over the phone. I understand the tech being frustrated as I can see this happening all the time to him but he then send me and invoice stating I was very rude which I was not at all I was just calling his company out for overcharging people. After reading the reviews I can tell that I am not the only one that this has happened to. I just want with Horizon because the Previous homeowners had them install the HVAC systems. Which now looking at past receipts they to were over charged. Over $20,000 for 2 Systems. I learned my lesson today to go by what people tell you about a company. Very disappointed.

Horizon installed our new A/C four years ago, accomplishing everything within the time frame they promised, and we have been very happy with the performance of the system they installed Better yet, we were able to negotiate a far better price than they originally offered, and they included a service plan. The fact that they were able to move so much on their original price, however, should have alerted me to some questionable business practices.

We scheduled an annual tuneup this year well in advance of the time we thought was necessary. About a week before the scheduled tuneup, they called to say they were overwhelmed with emergency calls and asked to reschedule. Strike one: the new appointment they gave us was nearly three weeks later then the original appointment. I guess I foolishly believed we would be a priority. Strike two: they gave us a four hour window for our re-scheduled appointment (I guess I still foolishly believed they would at least have the courtesy to make us their first appointment that day). Today is the day. Strike three: we were told the technician would be here between 10:00 and 2:00, and that he would call when he was on his way. It is now 2:51. No technician. I called at 2:08 and was told the technician was thirty minutes away. I just called again and was told he was twenty five minutes away, and my concerns would be entered into my account and my service agreement would be extended one year.

The technician arrived at 2:55, was courteous, took no shortcuts and did the usual great job Horizon's people do. All the operators I spoke to while trying to find out what was going on were also very friendly courteous. So where is the problem? My best guess is that someone at management level is either totally incompetent or doesn't care a lick about customers. People answering the phones and technicians who actually deal face-to-face with customers are doing the best they can do with what they're given, in terms of support and directions, while some highly paid individual keeps dropping the ball. If I didn't know better, I'd guess Donald Trump was moonlighting as a manager or supervisor at Horizon!

I've called them 3 times over the last 4 years. They are very professional, but, they have never fixed anything. They usually just take a look and tell me my system is old and should be replaced. Then I call someone else and get it fixed.
1) fan speed needed adjustment
2) needed Freon
3) needed new blower motor
Not saying they can't fix thing, just that that's not really what they do.

Gregg Haws literally saved the day! After renting a snake at the local Home Depot and spending a few hours trying to snake our main drain ourselves, we realized we had absolutely no clue what we were doing.  A quick call to horizon and a technician was out within the hour. Gregg not only fixed the problem quite promptly, he also spent a good amount of time on educating us how to prevent this type problem in the future. He was able to give me sound advice that I can easily implement in order to make sure this type thing doesn't happen again.

After reading some reviews on here, I was quite hesitant on calling this company... However, I'm really glad I did and gave Horizon a try because they totally exceeded my expectations by far! A huge thanks to Gregg and the horizon team, you truly saved the day! This experience has definitely turned me into a loyal Horizon customer.

If I could give them a zero I would. We booked an 21 point maintenance appointment on 2 individual units on June the 11th. The appointment was set for July 24th between 8:00 am & 12:00pm,  we received a phone call from dispatch at 7:30 am the morning of the appointment telling us that they needed to reschedule the appointment due to overbooking the day on their part. However, they were at my neighbors house within a week to evaluate and install a new system for $20,000. They were out on a Friday and installed it on that Sunday.  I've never used Horizon Service before but they were recommended to us. I'll never allow them in my home after this. I recommend that you use your locally owned business.

In short, Horizon has not been able to fix our heater over the past two weeks, and we are still suffering.

We had a completely new system installed in the summer of 2018, and we were told Daikin is a good brand and this model was top notch. One year later, we found water leaking out of the heater, which seems to be a rare situation, particularly for an one-year old system.

We contacted Horizon and a technician, Frank, came on Tuesday, Oct 22. He could not fix it because he needs a part. He went back and told us to wait for his call. Three days later, nothing. We called in and pushed them several times; finally, they got their part and sent someone Wed, Oct 30.

Yet, they got the wrong part!

Things got really bad from then on. I called them on a daily basis and, finally, their customer relationship, manager, Sam assured me this situation was their top priority. That was Friday, Nov 1. She told me they would get the part the next day, and things will be fine. She will keep me updated.

Yet, nothing!

I never got a call over the weekend, nor did the part arrive till today, Nov 4. I called them again this morning, and the answer is: the part has not arrived. We do not know when it will. There is nothing we can do. The only option we have is to wait like we have been doing over the past two weeks.

Now I have to go back and tell my 3-year-old daughter she has to suffer another night: my house drops below 56 F, which is against the federal law for renters. We bought 3 new space heaters to keep some of the bedrooms warm, but they are already tripping the circuit breakers.

The bottom line is next time you decide to go with any HVAC company, aside from the ten years parts and labor warranty, have them write down how fast they are actually going to fix it, because based on our experience, Horizon simply cannot do it fast.

If I could give them a zero I would. Our furnace burner went off before Christmas and would not stay light. At first I was impressed how quickly they came out to take a look at it. The tech said they had to order a part and they would contact us when it came in to schedule a install. Over two weeks later nothing. I called and called and they could never ever tell me anything. They had no idea when the part would be in or give me a time frame on when they expected it to be in. After 3 weeks of NO HEAT and NO ANSWERS I gave up and called another company. Their tech came out that day and four days later I had heat. Thanks for nothing.

They explained what was needed and then helped take care of the entire thing. Their techs came out and repaired the drain line fast. Afterward the plumbing guys came out and put my bathroom back together like new. No problems and they told me it's warrantied so no worries because they will fix it. Thanks again to all the techs that came out and got me and my wife's lives back in order.

RIP OFF!!! RIP OFF!!! $326 to replace a flame sensor of the furnace, which is according to a local company, only $30 to $40 plus labor cost of around $75. HORIZON billed me
1) $79.50 dispatch/diagnostic fee
2)flame sensor $271  minus Priority Partner plan discount of $40= $231.
3) PP plan $10/month.
When they came out to check my furnace flame sensor , Technician said without their membership plan which is $10/ month to replace the sensor it will cost me $231+$79.50 =310.50. So, I joined their membership plan for $10/ month.
After work , he changed the price to $271 for the sensor and after saving $40 with the plan I ended up paying $326.43.
STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!! Always look for LOCAL Companies to do any kind of work. They will provide better services and warranty and will not rip you off!!!

This is the reply to Horizon's comment about my review .
Your Technician didn't give me any other options. The only option was to pay $79 dispatch fee and don't let them do the work or pay the rest which was supposed to be $231 ( turned out $271 +79 after the work) just for 5 minutes work and get the work done.  I called your company on 11/7/2019 and nobody returned my call yet!!!

I want to thank Michael Phillips for being so proactive in taking care of an unfortunate situation that occurred with an HVAC technician at my house.  I called Horizon because my friend had such a positive experience with them. Stay far away.  They are unethical and extremely overpriced.  Not just a little, extremely overpriced.  You may want to consider that more than a few of the one star reviews start with a repair tech arriving and recommending quite expensive temporary repairs or replacing the system with a new one at an extremely high cost (anywhere from 2-3 x the average costs).  We had a similar experience to others here.  We were in the middle of a heat wave when our AC stopped working.  The tech arrived and gave us a repair estimate of over 1K (noting it may not even get you through the summer) versus replacing the whole system.  A salesman quickly came out and gave us a quote of over 17K to replace the AC and furnace.  Google AC and furnace replacement and see what kind of numbers you come up with.

Just keep reading the low star reviews here to learn more about their tactics.  Get another quote or better yet, don't call them at all.  You've been warned.

Was very happy with the tech & the repair. The second time I've used Horizon. The 1st was to install a new HVAC system. They did a fantastic job! This was for a plumbing repair that was discovered during the HVAC install. Again, a fantastic job. Thanks!

Thanks Dave P. You've fixed my heat while explaining everything clearly. He came on time and only charged me for what I needed. He put on those shoe covers each time he came in the house and cleaned up after himself. I've been ripped off before by other companies that didn't explain everything, but wanted to give me a big bill!

Watch out!  They woo you with umpteen ads, clean trucks and fast response time.  But you will pay through the nose for those niceties.

The Gory Details:
Horizon came out in April to perform a free service check on my AC unit (longer, separate story).  As is the norm, the tech identified multiple deficiencies, which were then repackaged on the service summary as Good, Better, & Best recommendations.   Right out of sales school...
1) The Good recommendation was to add in freon - a lot of freon apparently, since the price was $650. The notes said it was leaking.
2) The Better recommendation was to perform some $900 in repairs and rework on the compressor/condensor (I have new coils o nthe heater), then add freon - so $1,500.
3) The Best recommendation was to replace the unit (it is 15 yrs old), which would range 6k-$9k.
Um, ok. Buh bye.

So I called another regional service company (Fante's) and paid $60 for their sping tuneup service (I have never called them before).  Their tech spent about the same amount of time (1/2 hour) on the unit.  He stated that the unit, while old, is running fine. It needed no parts or service whatsover.  I asked whether adding refrigerant would help the system to run better.  The tech stated that adding refrigereant was 'completely unnecessary'.     Finally the tech said that, with a unit this old I should be ready at some point to replace it.  I asked him for a rough quote on costs, to which he responded $2k to $5k depending on the model and efficiency.

I can allow for some moderate level of disagreement among contractors, but this is not moderate.  This is some Evil Knevil-jumping-the- grand-canyon level of disagreement.

So - while I cannot use the word ripoff or fraud to describe my encounter (that would be wrong)  - I will say simply that I am never gonna call Horizon again.

I guess it depends on who you get to come over and this time we scored big time. Reps name was Julian M. and he did a superlative job. Our units are old; but he didn't try to push for a new unit; although he did mention it. I'll keep this short; but this guy was wonderful

Called for service on 3/26 to my father's house because our heating went out. The guy came out serviced the system and made no recommendations. Said unit was just a little clogged, everything should be ok now. Unit came on all was well. Unit went back out 2 days later on 3/28...two guys showed up this time. In a matter of 10 minutes or less was told we needed $3900 of work done not including labor. With out knowing, they then switched off the main switch to the unit saying the unit was beyond repair and left. Once I came home and inspected the area where the heating unit is located, I  noticed the switch was off while the indoor temp read 48* I switched the main switch back on and the unit fired right up. Needless to say I was VERY UNHAPPY with the service I received!!!

Plumber was very friendly and courteous but I felt like I was robbed blind.  I was not familiar with any plumbers in the area so I called Horizon because I had seen their extensive marketing campaigns.  A plumber came out within a day or two of calling and spent a fair amount of time trying to solve my problem.  I had two separate leaks in a sunroom and he spent hours cutting into my walls and replacing pipes, thinking it would solve the problem.

The next day, I walk into the room and there is still water all over the floor.  I called Horizon immediately, within an hour or two they sent out the same plumber again.  It took him 5 minutes to realize that the leak was coming from behind the dishwasher, due to a faulty install a few weeks before.  I had mentioned the dishwasher install the day before, but he did not see how that could be causing the issue.

After spending $1900 on what turned out to be precautionary measures, I felt incredibly frustrated and annoyed I had shelled out so much money on things that did not need to be done.  I was trying to be optimistic and hope that I at least avoided some more extensive plumbing disasters in the long run, until my kitchen contractors came in and laughed at the parts used by Horizon.  Being an older house, they assumed that the part used to connect the PVC and copper pipes was a handyman's mistake from a long time ago.  When I informed them the part had been put on recently by Horizon, they were dumbfounded.

When I called a technician after my service with a question about paperwork she was incredibly rude to me and could care less about making sure my questions were answered.  It was not until I demanded to speak with a supervisor that I felt I was being treated well as a customer.  I would not recommend Horizon, as I have no further interest in overspending on work where the legitimacy is questionable in the end.

If I could give zero stars, I would. This company has ads on buses and everywhere else, but they are a scam and major price-gougers.

Had a broken sewer pipe that needed to be repaired. I'm a newer homeowner and against my better judgement, went with Horizon's estimate because I needed to get the pipe fixed fast. I'm too embarrassed to even list what I paid Horizon, but it was 2x-3x above what my now-regular, trustworthy plumber quoted to me - my guy would have charged $2k. Horizon hauled out a special water pressure machine and tore up the sidewalk in front of my house - extras that I now know were not necessary.

What's more, the person who was sent out for an estimate definitely was pushing the hard sell. Asking me multiple times if I wanted to sign that day to get the work started, offering for HIM to call up my partner to talk things over when I demurred. This same person was completely non-responsive over the phone after I'd signed paperwork and had concerns about the work being done.

Last note - the sales guys who come to your house and give you an estimate will have you sign something waiving your rights to back out of the job. As a NJ resident you're legally entitled to cancel a job up to 3 days after signing the contract - Horizon specifically has a paper for this that they slip into the jumble of forms when you're authorizing work. Just another example of how shady they are. Avoid them and don't call them!

I had my Air-handler and heat pump replaced and it seems like they did a great job even though Horizon was about $3,000 more than other estimates. I still decided to go with Horizon and I was pleased with their work, courtesy and clean up. The job passed inspection with no problems. It seemed well worth the extra money. The workers were very respectful, knowledgeable and pleasant; plus the Air-handler that was replaced was/is in the attic.
However, because I trusted their work I called them for a plumbing problem (rust starting to show in the powder room sink (bowl). They came promptly but I wound up needing to replace the bowl ( it was 30 yrs.old).  I then needed to replace the faucet and the lines running to it since everything was outdated. However, the total cost floored me, it came to over $1,100.00.  They did finish the job in the same day, did a great job and the new Bowl was not metal but porcelain, however, again much much higher than I planned to pay.  My other bathroom sink needs to have the same work done, but because of their extremely high prices, I'm being forced to call someone else. I'm a senior citizen and I wish I could afford to keep them because they are reliable and do good work, but I can't. If you can afford the extra money they are the people to call. They have well trained and vetted employees.

Evan Bauer held fast to his word. A rarity these days. FREE, NO CHARGE, because I was unhappy with my previous service appointment
Mike Vognetz called and asked if I minded he come a little early. Usually service people are always late.
Mike is very knowledgeable and professional. He cleaned my unit and set it up better than the day it was new. Thanks Mike Vognetz. Horizon services is lucky to have a great technician like him.
I will definitely use this company in the future and give them a 5 star rating

When a man from Horizon named Ricardo came to my house to investigate why I had no heat I was totally taken aback by his rudeness, his apathy and his complete lack of customer service skills. The temperature in my house was 47 degrees even with the space heater on. He briefly touched the radiators and said they were warm so my system must be ok. I couldn't believe that he didn't see anything wrong with the way that it felt in there. I had a coat on and was dressed in layers. My hands and face were ice cold. When I called my landlord he didn't answer so I had to leave a voicemail. I asked Ricardo if he would talk to my landlord and he angrily snapped, NO! I don't want to do that!!! After I left a voicemail telling my landlord that Horizon was there Ricardo said he didn't want to wait around to hear from my landlord. He said my house felt ok even though the space heater's digital thermometer said it was 47 degrees in there. As he started to walk out the door he told me that my landlord better call in a few minutes or he would leave because HE had to get PAID. He already had my landlord's credit card number.

I was very upset and panicky from the heat not working and from Ricardo's rude, snippy and unhelpful attitude. When he came back inside he briefly went down to my basement. When he came back up he proclaimed that the WHOLE system needed to be replaced and it would cost $10,000-$15,000! That seemed way off to me but I told him that my landlord wanted me to ask if he could check out the vacant upstairs' unit while he was there. Ricardo sneered as he said, NO! That's a whole new unit entirely! I'm not doing that! He charged my landlord $85 for the consultation and then left after my landlord called me back and the 2 of them discussed Ricardo's findings.

Not long after that my landlord called me back and said that he was able to find an independent contractor named Wally who was on his way over. When he checked it out he told me all that my heating system needed was a new transformer and a new thermostat. As he was working on that he said, It's companies like Horizon that give legitimate plumbers/hvac people a bad name. He said that HE likes to do the best he can for people and likes to be able to sleep at night with a clear conscience. He told me what probably happens with companies like Horizon. He suspects that their technicians see people for maybe 10 or 15 minutes for a consultation and then they bill the customers for a whole hour. Over the course of one day's work by doing that they could then charge for 15 hours but actually only work 8 hours and then they also get a commission by selling all of these extras with inflated costs to their victims who are desperate and don't know any better, particularly the most vulnerable --the poor and the elderly.

To say that I am very disappointed in my experience with Horizon is an understatement. I have to remind myself that it was just one person who ruined my perception of them but after reading the other reviews it doesn't seem like this is an isolated instance. It is clear that Ricardo was nothing like how they claim to be in their commercials but at least my landlord didn't have to pay a fortune to have something replaced that didn't need to be replaced. I still feel angry about the way that I was treated and the fact that he tried to rip off my landlord. I also feel bad for all of the people who were scared and scammed into spending thousands of dollars on something that they didn't even need. I hope this review can result in a change in the way that Horizon trains their employees but if it doesn't then I hope it can at least prevent others from being ripped off.

I thought I could expect high quality work from Horizon Services based on my first experience. They did an apparently professional job installing a new air conditioner (I say apparently now, based to my second experience and the fact that the A/C was installed at the end of the season).
Second experience:
Two plumbers re-routed water lines and drains for our washer. They left without turning the supply on at the washer valves; so, they didn't test their work. When I turned them on, the valves were leaking. Called Horizon. A plumber came and tightened a nut. With the valves on, no leak. He did not test his work however. When I closed a valve today, the leak returned. Now, I have to wait up to 7 hours before someone will come and hopefully get this right.

Their pricing is extremely high. I paid almost $500.00 to repair 2 toilets.  They gave me a price of over $1,000.00 to put in a drop sink and faucet in my kitchen.
I thought Home Depot was asking too much (almost $300) to send out a plumber.  We went back to Home Depot for the sink and faucet.  Wish we just hired them in the first place.  (Looked at the toilets and could have purchased 2 new ones for less money than what Horizon charged.)

Let me start off by saying this. I am a qualified electrician. My heater was acting up, and I was not around. My wife and baby were home. No hvac buddies were available to I resorted to Horizon. Simon, there conartist tech, told me my heater system was over-amping and would soon need to be replaced. They scheduled us to have an estimator come out and quote us in an entirely new system. After Simon trying his best to sell his story, which had one too many bro trust me lines, I ended our phone call with a thank you and I will reach back out for an appointment if necessary... now, I arrived home, and used what little hvac knowledge I have, and removed the flame sensor. Cleaned it up with 200 grit sandpaper and now my heater works like a charm! I mentioned this part to him, and he said yes this could be an issue, we offer the part for $400-$500!! A $30 part for 4-500 are you smoking crack????!! **UPDATE: March 23 2019, my heater system is still up and running like a charm.

UPDATE - The owner of the company heard about my review and personally called me to hear my story and apologize.  He explained that it is their company policy to always provide a written estimate and he was very unhappy that I had a bad experience.  I feel better knowing that they took one bad review so seriously and feel confident that this kind of a thing will probably never happen again under his watch.

I'm so unhappy with this company.  I bought my condo 2 years ago in the fall and it came with a warranty so I could have the air checked in the spring once it got warmer.  I called in June and could not get an appointment until AUGUST.  On the appointed day, I waited ALL DAY for them to show and they never came.  I called and they said they called and the person who answered cancelled the appointment.  They called the OLD owner of my condo.  I had to wait another couple of weeks for a tech to come out.

When the tech finally came out he said this is wrong and that is wrong and gave me an estimate for repair.  Considering the age of the unit and the cost involved, I felt it would be better to get an estimate to replace the whole system.  They sent out a salesman who, quite honestly, pulled every used-car salesman trick, including If you sign today, I can knock $2,000 off the price and the classic What can I do to get you to sign right now.  I felt very pressured and did not sign.  He didn't even leave me a brochure behind.  He took all his papers and notes with him.  That's right, he did not leave a written estimate!  Thank goodness I took notes.

Friday morning ourr furnace didn't sound right. Called Horizon for service. The technician discovered  the problem right away. He informed me that they didn't have the part in Stock that was needed but he would have it ordered and he could return the next day to install. He stated the part should arrive between 10 and 12. Well at 2:45 the next day I called only to be informed that no part had been ordered and could not be ordered till Monday. The earliest they could schedule someone for the repair would be Tuesday. My house is currently 51 degrees and I am having to move my family in to a hotel because I can't have an 11 month old in a 50 degree house. Truly disappointed with the service I received. Generally, Horizon did a good job with an efficiently working system, albeit expensive (and $29.00 bank fee to pay over time which we didn't know about until after agreeing for them to do the job). It was during the hot spell this summer, and they were available within a reasonable amount of time, realizing others in the same position (it had gotten cooler those days). When they came to do the job, I asked the worker doing the air conditioner to block mouse entry holes, detected by the inspector when we bought this house 2 yrs. ago. (Was this an unreasonable request (?) as this would be the time to be able to do such.) He didn't respond when I asked him to do this. Several months later, I added a mortar mixture, where my fingers could reach under the piece that held the unit but not before my mother (who came to live with us a couple wks. before) spotted a mouse in her bedroom; she specifically asked if we had mice because it was always a battle in her prior homes. We hadn't had any mice before this, and I told her so, (likely due to our cat) but I'd found a squirrel skeleton atop a bin. My advice is to train your workers to LISTEN with great care to the concerns of your customers (and tell us you've taken care of it or not) and not just be pros at what it is you do because it will haunt all of us later. Thank you.

UPDATE - Horizon followed up immediately following my initial review. A third technician was sent to look at our system.  He took the time to take photos and while there was indeed some rust from the flooded humidifier, the system is not in danger of failing us. In speaking to the third technician to show up, I believe that the difference in what I was told reflects personal bias of the other two technicians and what they would do to remedy the issue, if anything. I commend Horizon for sending a third person to resolve things and I do feel my original issue was adequately explained.

Terrible, overpriced, sneaky company.  I got an estimate for a new heater and they come out and tell me the price which is sky high.  My uncle used to work in HVAC and I had an idea of what I should pay for a new heater and they were about $1000 over that range.  The guy seemed perturbed when I told him straight out that price is too high I'm going with another company, why would he be offended? I was just getting an estimate anyway.
But the sneaky part comes in when I wrote a bad review here on Yelp.  The guy from horizon contacted me and I said no thanks bud, your prices are so high cause you're paying for all that stupid advertising.  Then now a few days later I get an email that my Yelp review was deleted because other members of the Yelp community felt it didn't have enough detail.  It seems to me these horizon people were the ones who had a problem with the review, and they did their best to get it removed.   So here goes another 1 star failing grade for you horizon services, for being overpriced and sore losers.

I just had a service appointment with Gary B. from Horizon and he was excellent. He was able to quickly fix my leaky bathroom shower and this was despite the rusted screw in the handle. Overall very pleased and would welcome him back anytime! Thanks Jared!

Horrible . The guy who showed up at the house to quote me for the new system was very rude. Instead of explaining what should be done with my HVAC system and how much it would cost, he started strange questioning to see how deep was my pocket and not focusing on what's really needed to do the job. I would not want this type of guys anyway close to my house. And you dont want these people to come and do servicing . Extremely poor customer service. Stay away from these guys. There are others who really work hard to earn your business and provide you proper customer service that you deserve. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE !

Horizon was able to come out the same day I called and arrived during the time frame that they said they would arrive. The technician was very polite and helpful even offering to install a new thermostat for me at a reasonable price. While I didnt take him up on the offer he educated me on the current issues I was having, got my central air working again during a heat wave, and signed me up for the yearly maintenance check ups for a small fee. The cost was a little higher than I wanted to pay and higher than what others quoted me at but they were able to come the same day and get me running again! I also was able to print out an online coupon and saved some money there so in the end it kind of evened itself out. Obviously I will use them again because I signed up for the maintenance package so it wasnt a bad experience.  Another side note about the technician, he was very thorough about cleaning up behind himself and even gave my system a good cleaning.

They send a salesman who can make repairs. Heater wasn't staying lit, tech says in 5 yrs with horizon I never saw a heater with a pilot light. OK then these don't break too often compared to new pilotless models? He laughs ok let me try to light it,  does it wrong and says see you need a new heater. Let me teach you how to light it properly, he then understands I know what's going on. He does it the correct way and says you need a new piece here. Replaces it and leaves. $140 vs a new heater.  I get a call and they leave a message asking for me by my first name. I return the call and says it's Vincent. They reply Vincent who? I ask if this is horizon and they say MAYBE. VERY SHADY VERY UNPROFESSIONAL.  I cancelled all dealings with them.

Disappointed!  Called them to do a 49 tune up and ended up paying $180. Young kid showed up a tried to sell me several servces (insisted) until I stopped him and firmly said I was NOT interested. In additon he said that the previous company put too much refrigerant and it needed to be removed. When i inquired for the price he said they do not do that but they would do it for free if i get a stupid yearly maintance that really has no value. I am psst off!

This was our first experience with Horizon and we are thrilled.  Jared first came to check our AC unit and advised some problems with our AC and furnace.  He was thorough -- and equally patient explaining the issues to us.  Later that day, Phil came out to explain options for new units.  Again, he was patient and thorough.  By Saturday, the whole crew was out to install a totally new system.  Joe, Jeff and the rest were incredible.  Timely, clean, respectful, through, etc.  We had one issue with an incorrect water heater model, but it is being resolved.  We couldn't be more pleased and will definitely use them again.

Water was dripping from the faucet of our soaker tub and tech. replaced the hot and cold water cartridges. Unfortunately, this didn't fix the problem and water was still dripping.  Tech. then informed me that the problem was in the faucet, and there was no way to get to the faucet because it was tiled over and tiles would have to be removed to access the faucet.  This would require major work and construction.  The cost of the cartridges were $300 each and labor was $295 for a total of $895.  He told me that I could just shut off the main water supply to the tub until I wanted to use it, and then just turn it back on.  I told him that I would just keep the hot and cold bath tub valve  shut off completely and not use the tub again.
I did not pay the invoice since the repair was not fixed.  My wife and I take showers and seldom use the tub anyway.  This service call to Horizon was made back in June of 2015.

Last week we had a plumbing problem and called Hopkins Plumbing & Heating.  One of my neighbors remodeled her kitchen and Hopkins did all her work.  She was very happy with Hopkins and recommended them to us.  I mentioned to Brian, the owner, about our problem with the soaker tub and he asked if he could just take a look at it.  He said that the cartridges were replaced but not the little screws and rings that cause the leaking.  He went to his truck, brought back some small parts, turned the hot and cold water valve to the tub back on, and guess what?  NO LEAKING. It's been a week now and not a drop of water has come out of the faucet.  He also told me that the cost of the two cartridges cost $5 each.  Horizon charged me $300 each.  Brian did not charge me for the 5 minutes he spent on the tub.

I would have paid Horizon the $895 if they fixed the leak.  Obviously, this seems like a complete rip off, but I guess they have to charge these rates to pay for the millions they spend on advertising yearly.

Had a fantastic experience today with Horizon, from start to finish. Call to schedule the appointment was quick and easy, dispatch was friendly and accommodating. Our technician, Steven S., was awesome - VERY thorough, patient, and efficient. He even had us laughing throughout the night - during what kinda should have been a nightmarish process (that wasn't at all!).The best part about this (other than Steve) was the fact that we paid exactly what we were quoted - which was about 12 hours before the service was done (and this was a bitch of a service!). I absolutely would recommend these guys to anyone in need of repair work. I notice that the customers that seem dissatisfied here on Yelp are primarily HVAC customers. I cannot speak to that as I had a sewage line issue, but I will say that NO ONE can ding these guys for customer service. Every single comment on here was personally responded to (yes - I did that much research today; I literally read them all). Sorry haters - to me, that says something about a company and their commitment to their clients. Satisfied or not, you have to give them kudos for that.

I do have one small bit of critical feedback... Change your website's review section to include all reviews. Currently you only display positive, glowing reviews. Display the negative ones too. Your persistent, unwavering dedication to customers satisfaction is undeniable and one of the best things about your company (at least from what I can see). Show them how you handle the tough critics - because you do it well, and you do right by people, and people should see that.

A Horizon technician came out to diagnose and replace a thermostat. The job was performed efficiently and the technician was personable. But the price was extremely high! To be fair it was Sunday on New Year's Eve day. That said, the initial quote he gave was $191 installed not including the dispatch fee.  He charged me $424.  This was after a long sales pitch regarding service membership which I refused. Also, he asked me to post a review on Horizon's website while he waited. Last but not least, he replaced our hardwired programmable thermostat with a bottom line battery operated device. I later found the copper wires that were removed and pulled down through the wall balled up at the base of the furnace.  So here's my takeaway. I feel like I got bum rushed. I blindly paid without asking for a thorough explanation of the cost and inspecting the job itself.  I've learned a costly lesson and will certainly NOT call them in the future.

Called for service today. Nice guy came out and gave me an estimate for repairing a wax ring and reset on a toilet and to repair tank leak said to be a failed class 5 flapper so estimate for these was written as follows: Ring & Reset $378 and the flapper seal $101 a total of $479 with a note that should the Closet Flange be bent it will be $626 for the reset. This was outside todays budget so I declined the work based on that the technician who identified himself as a senior technician noted our previous use of Horizon and three previous service calla, one a simple sink faucet replacement that cost over $600 and took three visits for it to not leak, and a frozen main drain when the technician traced feces thru a brand new wall to wall carpet (so much for the booty advertising) So being what the company is obviously all about they are better sales people then technicians he said well since I'm here ill do the seal repair reduced to $51. so I agreed and so far its working. Heres my main point that what was supposed to be $101. took him exactly 4 minutes so he was at the house all of 24 minutes. doing the math I must tell this story to my friends currently getting a technical education... keep going because I know a lot of people that have college degrees that don't make $1.68 a minute or $100.80 an hour. Its obvious all Horizons focus is advertising.

I scheduled an appointment with Service Mark who has been servicing my heating and air conditioning systems for 15 years. I made an appointment six weeks in advance for late November, and was stunned to get a call from Horizon Services 40 minutes before they were scheduled to arrive at 8 a.m. telling me they were not coming because they no longer service the downtown Philadelphia area. Hello? What? Horizon merged with Service Mark, and no one at Horizon bothered to call Service Mark customers and explain this well in advance. This is NOT how a well run, customer-focused company behaves. I would have expected much more advance notice and a few leads on what companies do operate in Philadelphia. It's unlikely my heating system will be serviced until sometime in January. Don't use these folks. Bad!

First time using Horizon services. They came out the next day. Thought our oil furnish was making an odd sound. Our Technician was Lee. He called and verified his arrival time which was nice. Lee was very polite and is a dog lover which was a bonus point. It was great to be able to let my dog follow him and not have him locked away. Lee was very honest and found no issues with our unit. Our oil furnish is 40yrs old and every year we have something fixed. Lee noticed we have a gas water heater and made some suggestions on converting to a gas unit. We were very interested to hear how more efficient gas is to use. We had a great experience and have scheduled another appointment to learn more about our options. Thank you Horizon and Lee.

Biggest rip-off...just hoping to spare any new customers the membership speech and incorrect assessment of a simple issue. They gave me two prices...$700 or $900.. because ,(they said) my toilet had to be completely replaced.  Ridiculous.  My daughter replaced the flow valve and stopper for less than $15.  AND I was charged $50 plus tax for the visit. I'd be happy to send anyone a copy of the estimate.  I'm reporting them to the BBB.  The one star review is generous. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.  I want my $50+ back.

I contacted this company in May based on receiving a deal for a tune up/maintenance deal. The technician, initials O.W, was very nice. He tried to sell me on the membership and to replace furnace. He said I needed a new blower wheel, which he came to install the following week. The furnace didn't make a loud sound anymore. I was happy. That same day, he tried to sell me on a new dual capacitor. I declined.
In July, the furnace leaked and water came down the ceiling of my 1/2 bath downstairs. (Furnace is on the 2nd Floor). I contacted Horizon and said that I had just had a tune-up/maintenance done in May. The customer service rep said that if it was due to their fault, there will be no charge for the visit. I had no AC for 3 days. When another tech finally came out, he said the furnace coil was dirty and that it was an extra charge and the condensate/drain line was NEVER done. The failure to do the drain was why I was having the leak. I keep my receipts and O.W. put that the coil was clean. The coil was also part of the checklist on the AC & Heat pump maintenance sheet. How is it an extra charge to clean the coil?
The new tech did everything that was suppose to be done. This time I did have my husband in the house who was making sure this guy did the  job. We were not charged for the work that was never properly done in the first place. That mistake cost us more because now I have to repaint and fix the downstairs bathroom ceiling due to the leak.
I guess it depends on the technician. Is there lack of training, work ethic, or did this guy think I was alone and wouldn't know better.  You let someone in your home hoping that they will do their job. Since this review, Horizon's customer relations dept called several times to make amends. They did!

Our old oil heater completely failed right when there was a cold snap.  We needed to replace immediately and wanted to change from oil to gas.  We got a few other quotes from competitors but not only was everyone else much more expensive,  they wouldn't install for a least three days to a week.  This wasn't acceptable since we have a toddler in the house.  Horizon gave us a great price, good financing options, and installed the next day.  It's a pleasure working with their technicians and Aaron was so great at evaluating the house to make sure we get the right system.  Now we are toasty warm!!

Unfortunately, the boiler for my furnace stopped working on the Friday after Thanksgiving.  Called Horizon and they sent someone to look at it.  The repair person inspected the boiler and said the gas valve was faulty and quoted a repair of $1123.  He also recommend that since the boiler was 18 years old I would be better off replacing vs. repairing.  So, another individual visited the next morning and spent an hour evaluating the system and quoted me two options of $8491 and $9394.  Fortunately, the problem was interment and I was able to get a second opinion.  The other repair technician noted that the burners and pilot were very dirty and just needed a cleaning.  For less than $200, I have my boiler back working better than ever.

Complaint Detail / Problem
Complaint Type: Customer Service Issues
Problem:
Horizon replaced my HVAC system there was no issue with installation the team completed this in one day showed up on time and were polite, professional and fast they were here at 7am and gone by 4:30pm. The complaint I have is with the poor customer service post installation. 1. According to Horizon I was entitled to get a rebate check for the amount of $625 from Lennox and instead received a $375 reward card 2. The reward card has a monthly fee 3. My name is spelled incorrect on the card 4. I called to speak to someone and receptionist told me she would pass the message on 5. Receptionist also stated that the rebate is actually $375 from Lennox and $250 from State of NJ 6. I asked her why I couldn't speak to the rebate department directly and she told me they are too busy, I would have to wait 7. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told no one was available This customer service has much to be desired post installation as I was able to speak with supervisor immediately when I was purchasing this system and they did not have issues with being busy, nor did they they have issues with cashing my check immediately. I was told pre-purchase that there is always a supervisor available guess that is before cash is received? I did tell the receptionist I would not be giving good review and she did not care.

We had an excellent experience this morning with Paul Gandy, a plumbing tech. Our shower began to flood the downstairs kitchen ceiling yesterday and we were fearful that there was a burst pipe. Paul was at our house within about 30 minutes of our call this morning and quickly determined the problem was because of grout and caulking, as opposed to a major expensive problem. I would certainly request him again.

Let me start by saying the techs are friendly and do a good job. Their HVAC consultant gave a quote that was super over priced compared to 3 other quotes I received. He also was only interested in telling me that I literally needed to replace everything and that there was basically no other option (which was not true according to 3 other consultants). The tech who came out looked at the system checked the temperatures it was running and said the unit was unsafe (you shouldn't use it). What he failed to know is that the type of unit I have runs at higher temps. Again, when you give consumers information you should be honest and accurate. I will not be using Horizon for my HVAC and the company I am using gave a better deal using Carrier products, 5 year at 0%, and 10 year parts and Labor.

Absolutely a rip off. Do NOT use this company. My AC was not working so I called them based on the rating they got on this website. The people who rated them well here must either be family and friends or very rich and able to throw thousands of dollars away. First, they were 2 hours LATE with no call until the very end of their window. Then they took a look at the AC and said there was NO WAY for them to tell what the problem was until they started fixing and replacing things. I had to PAY $800 for them to replace the hard start kit, and guess what? The hard start kit supposedly wasnt even the problem!!!! So basically they replaced a part that was PERFECTLY FINE and charged me $800 to tell me it wasnt that part. Then they wanted to charge 3 GRAND to replace a compressor. For that cost, I went with a different company and got the ENTIRE UNIT replaced with a brand new unit. Oh and I called Horizon and got my money back for the part they replaced. They still ended up charging me $100 for the stupid service call and $100 for the diagnosis. Absolutly HORRIBLE company that is ripping people off. Whatever you do, do not use this company, and DO NOT believe their opinion if you do. Always always always get a second opinion.

It's simple.  You get what you pay for.  A higher quality service and professionalism isn't the cheapest.  These guys are good, but you must pay for it. This business charges by the job and not by the hour.  The work they performed in my home is now warrantied for two years.  Horizon can become quite expensive for big jobs or complicated work, but the simple jobs are still competitively priced when using their coupon.  I suggest obtaining their coupon or some sort of discount first.  That is what I did and it was honored with no problem.  Beware of unpredictable discoveries (unknown corroded pipe etc.) or complications that can arise while doing the simplest jobs. More work might need to be done than you anticipated and then you are on the hook for a lot more money.   Fortunately, these guys were skilled enough to fix my leaking supply line which was very challenging to access.  They did this without cutting or soldering which kept the job simple and reasonably priced.  These guys demonstrated their skills with professionalism while saving me a lot of money.  I am very appreciative to Horizon.

I am in the process of filing a formal complaint with this company.
We had a sewer line back-up last month that needed to be addressed.
The first visit by a drain cleaner was no problem. He was what I expected initially from this company, who temporary cleared our back-up.
On the 2nd visit, which was a free inspection with a camera mounted snake to determine  what the problem was,is where I have an issue with this company.
The salesman ran his snake into our sewer line and did not allow me the opportunity to see for myself with the camera mounted snake, the condition of my cast iron pipes.
Being that I was just getting over Pneumonia, I was not at the top of my game mentally .
He told me that I needed the entire sewer line replaced from the house all the way to the street for a cost of $18557.
So without getting another estimate and under the impression that the salesman was not under 100% commission,I agreed to get the work done.
The next day his diggers show up and inform me after doing their own inspection, that I only need to replace a 10 foot section of sewer pipe near the street for a cost of $5300.
Needless to say I was livid at this point .
Horizon it seems has an unscrupulous salesforce who work on 100% commission who often get overrided  by the crew leader who does the digging.
These salesmen prey on the weak, vulnerable and uneducated customer all the time from what I have found out.
I have since spoken with the sales manager at Horizon, who has addressed this issue with his salesmen.
This appears to be an isolated incident and is not reflective of the entire organization.
I have been a satisfied customer in the past who has used them several times.
The work completed was to my satisfaction .

They will rip you off. No different than an auto repair shop. Who knows if what you spent thousands on was really the problem? It sucks that if you don't have the option to fix it yourself you have to trust these criminals. I used to fix aircraft and what I knew was that if there was a malfunction 99 time out of 100 it was a single component that caused the problem.  Rarely do multiple parts go out at the same time. These repair services will make up a list problems and it's hard to fight with them.

Right after writing the last review, the customer relation manager called me and offered to refund the charge of $104.53.  For that I have to credit their concern about reputation and the effort in keeping good customer relation.  Now the check has been refunded and deposited.  The positive feedback compensates the negative impression I expressed in the last review, so my final rate would be in the middle, 3.

After my central A/C system failed, I called Horizon first because I knew of them through their slick and effective advertising . Indeed, they did respond quickly and the sales representative did a good job sizing our home for a new unit. The problems started when the high pressure sales tactics began. First he tried to get me to name my price if I would agree to sign the contract right there and then. Later, he went outside and called his manager to supposedly fight for us to get the lowest price. Finally, he wrote down a price with a 10 year warranty which covered *labor* in addition to parts, which is unheard of. What I learned later is that the labor coverage was probably contingent on me signing an annual service contract at added cost! After the appointment, I looked up some information about the rep and found out that a good part of his career was spend bouncing around in the new and used car sales sector! Unfortunately, Horizon has managed to bring the used car buying experience to the HVAC arena. I ended up getting 4 more estimates. Horizon was the next to highest priced and I ended up getting the job done by a highly recommended local firm for over $2,000 less

*Edit 9/7/16* 15 minutes after the above review posted, Lawrence R from Horizon responded below and also sent me a private message asking for more information and offering to attempt to resolve my problem. I responded that further follow-up was unnecessary as the job had been done by another firm. I also asked him to clarify if the 10 year labor warranty only came with the purchase of a yearly service contract. It is now 24 hours after that reply message and he hasn't responded

Real sketchy sales people. We had them come in for a full replacement of a central heat/AC system about 8 months ago. Very high pressure, wanted us to sign a contract right then. Then after two hours of us saying we would not sign he drops the price 5,000 only if we were to sign then. So if we had signed earlier we would have been ripped off by $5K? We asked him to leave and I called corporate to complain. We ended up with another company doing our whole house, (2) full units and on demand hot water for just a bit more than they quoted for (1) and with top of the line equipment. Stay far away from them.

My husband called them for our furnace since we see their ads constantly and get their flyers in the mail. Wish i had checked their online reviews first... knew i had called the wrong company when the tech started talking about replacing the unit before he even diagnosed the problem! He did not seem to know what he was doing and seemed to have more sales training than service training! I realize there is mark up, overhead, and labor (plus we have to pay for their huge ad campaign), but quoting $800+ for a $15 part and trying to force us to buy a new system when ours is only 7 years old is ridiculous!

Steve Klotz help guide us through the options whether to repair or replace our heating/cooling heat pump unit.  The unit was installed in Auguat 2013 and has performed as promised.  Our home was warm this winter and cool in the summer with the AC. The addition of a programmable thermostat really made our home comfortable.   We saw a savings in our electric bill over the last year.  Steve W. was the most courteous and professional specialist that I have ever encountered.  He really knew his product after he answered a call for us. I did a review on this company and even updated my review after they corrected the issue. I was so pleased with this company that when I went into my basement today and saw a little water by my water heater the first company I decided to use was Horizon. They sent a tech out to the house asap and thats when everything went down hill. It was the same tech from the problem I had with the first time. He went into the basement and saw that my water heater had a installation sticker of 2006 and automatically stated I needed a new water heater. Then when I showed him the leak was coming from up top and not at the bottom he stated again that does not matter your heater needs to be replaced. I did inform him that I know that some water heaters can go for 10 to 15 years cause we have other properties and he then stated well you are at your 10yr mark. He then went on to give me a pricing of $3300 to $3600 to replace it. I asked him can you try to repair it cause again the leak is coming from up top. After he made a couple of phone calls to his supervisor his supervisor informed him that it was too risky for them to repair it, it would be better for them to just replace it. Thats is when I told him that was ok. I will look at other companies before calling them again...Thanks but no thanks

I called to schedule an appointment to have my garbage disposal replaced.  I requested a ball park estimate and was told no that they couldn't because it could be perceived as switch and bate.  The technician agreed the disposal was shot and had to be replaced and quoted over $700.00 for the unit and installation. I told the tech that I would have never made the appointment for him to show up if I had known the price.  After a few minutes he took $100.00 off and explained that I was getting a higher quality garbage disposal that you couldn't purchase at Lowes or home Depot.  I was between a rock and a hard spot and needed to be able to use my kitchen sink.  He installed the unit and left me the paper work.  I found the exact garbage disposal on Lowe's website for $200.00.  The  installation took a little over an hour.  $608.00 is beyond ridiculous to have a garbage disposal installed.  Needless to say, I will never use Horizon Services again or recommend them to anyone.

Total rip off.  Out of the 3 jobs I reviewed with the technician he only did one of them.  When he said he would get started right away it sounded great.  That was my first mistake....trusting Horizon Services.  I was charged 880 dollars for 2 hours of work to cut 1 section of PVC to lower a toilet flange and replace a toilet shut off valve which costs 5 dollars at Home Depot.  Prior to filing a complaint online and being promised twice I would receive a follow up call I had another appointment already setup.  Horizon called me 7 times within 1 hour to find out if I was going to be home.  They are eager to get more easy money.  It took over 2 weeks to get 1 call from a manager about my complaint.  It has been over a month and I still can reach the manager.  He only left me his office number and no surprise......never picks up the phone.  You would think after several voicemails I have left he would give me his cell phone.  If you want to get ripped off use horizon services.  I would love to see them respond to this and try to justify 2 hours of work with less than 20 dollars in material cost for 880 dollars.
