I called McGee's at 7 a.m. (during normal business hours) because my main sewer line was clogged and toilet water was coming up into my shower. I guess I sounded desperate, because the person quoted me a flat price of $595 to unclog it, which seemed high, but he said he would rearrange things to get me in that morning. I told the person that I would call back. Five minutes later, he calls ME back, saying that he can get me in before 8 if I commit right now (most other plumbers opened at 8...which I'm sure he knew). Thankfully, after talking it over with my wife we didn't jump, but waited until 8 and called some other plumbers. Upon doing some online research and after my wife talked with her brother (who is a plumber in CA), we found that $300 was more typical for my area and that flat rate plumbers were usually a scam. I found another that had very high ratings, came out within 45 minutes, and completed the work on an hourly rate (it took two hours). Total cost: $300...HALF of what McGee's wanted. My drains now run perfectly, and I'll be leaving an excellent review for THEM!
