HISTORY

Established in 1995.
About Us Tony and Brian started the business out of a makeshift office in Tony's garage back in May of 1995. We did mostly new houses and made our living installing miles of waste and water pipes in the Forrest Heights area of Portland in the West Hills. Since those days, we have done plumbing of all kinds but found that we prefer to focus on doing residential remodel work such as new water mains, re-piping homes and doing additions. We also like to do light commercial work such as tenant improvements and service work. Since the beginning, we've almost never advertised and have grown by an employee a year largely by word of mouth. We starter with Tony and Brian in the early days and as Mike (one of the other brothers) skills grew in the plumbing trade, he joined us as well. Today we have a total of 15 employees. We are a relatively young, energetic plumbing company who want to make a name for ourselves in the Portland area.

ABOUT BUSINESS OWNER

Brian and Tony are second generation journeymen plumbers.  It's in our blood.  We have been in business since 1995 and are also in business with our younger brother Mike.  We need and want your work so, call us!  We're open all weekend long at no extra charge.  (that's me wi/ Jay Cutler - Mr. Olympia).

Plumbing problems ahh! Yuck I hate calling plumbers. :( NOT with these guys! Everyone I spoke with was very kind and I was very surprised by how great the guy was that worked on my problem. I hope I never have to call them again but If I do have any plumbing problems they will be my only call.

While I can't tell you anything about the quality of the work this company I can tell you about the drivers. This morning I was riding my motorcycle from Battle Ground WA to Portland at 5:10 am, one of there drivers must have been upset at me because he had a terrible case of road rage. I was behind a car with no room to spare and one to the right of me leaving me boxed in. This driver was 1 foot off of my rear fender. When I finally had a chance to move over this guy flips me the bird. I'm not sure what I did but what ever it is there is no reason to tail gate a motorcycle because that is just unsafe. His plate number is 440 GAQ. Watch out for this guy.

Finding a really good, reputable plumber is not easy.  I found American Plumbing on Angie's List.  American Plumbing is family owned.  They are a small company with a core value of customer satisfaction.  I just purchased a house built in 1951; one owner and a great deal of deferred maintenance and homeowner iffy repairs.  I knew that I needed to have the plumbing worked on before moving in.  I called American Plumbing and spoke with Tony.  He came out to the house and did a thorough inspection of all the plumbing.  He explained what needed repairing and what just normal wear-and-tear is.  The biggest issue was the water service in the house.  Very old pipes, very little water pressure.  Vincent, Ryan and Nick were on the job two days and replaced all the water service pipes; installed a new toilet, removed an illegal shower in the basement, new kitchen faucet, etc.  They did a fantastic job!  Very professional work.  I highly recommend American Plumbing for any of your plumbing jobs!

Our need was relatively simple -- install an under-the-sink water filter system, which we had already purchased. We would use the faucet hole already in the sink countertop for the dispensing part of the system, so no drilling needed. American Plumbing was responsive to the request for estimate (reasonable price) and scheduled within a couple of days. Other plumbers we called were outrageously priced for the work, or didn't call us back at all.

When the scheduled day came, there was bad weather with snow / ice, and the scheduled plumber wasn't able to make it. The guys kept in touch with me all morning re: status of schedule, and Mike ended up coming out himself to do the work. He did a great job, within the estimated time at the estimated cost.

I value the responsiveness, high quality work by Journeyman plumbers, and their being just nice folks! This is a family-owned business, passed down through generations. You can tell they love of the work and desire to be of service.

My kitchen faucet decided that the off position was for losers and all the really cool faucets run a constant trickle of hot water, oblivious to any and all attempts to convince them otherwise.

Disagreeing with my faucet's newfound passion for wasting hot water, I called American Plumbing Services, which did a ton of work on my home right after I bought it.  They were great to work with then, and they're great to work with now.

I called them at 9 and they said someone would be by sometime between 11 and 3.  Victor the plumber called me back at 11 to let me know he would arrive in about a half hour.

He arrived when he said he would, he quickly diagnosed the problem and did what he could to solve it, and he gave me advice on how to proceed.  He showed me the parts that had gone bad and he gave me advice on what brands to look for when I buy a new faucet.  He was courteous, fast, and personable.

I will definitely use these guys again and you should too!

Thanks Dean for the great info on what could have cost me $4500.00. My insurance company told me that I would need to replace all of my galvanzied pipes. Dean laughed and said they were fine. Needless to say. I got a new insurance company. Thanks again for being so neighbourly!

Awful!!!
Had very little waster pressure in shower. The plumber took apart the faucet, and I turned the main water on and there was full pressure, as water shot across the bathroom. He said it was probably the cartridge, but he would have to go get one as they didn't stock that model in their shop that is located about 6 blocks away. He was gone for 1 1/2 hours.
When he returned, he put the new cartridge in, and there was no water.
He told me he was STUMPED and couldn't figure it out, and that I would need to make another appointment to get the pipes replaced. Big $$$ in that.
He packed up his tools and left me with NO water in the shower.
WHAT A WASTE OF $300!!!
WHAT A SCAM!!!
I called D&F Plumbing, and they came out the next morning and replaced the faucet, and all was well.
I talked with the owner of American Plumbing a few days later, and he couldn't care less.
AVOID AMERICAN PLUMBING!!!

We needed a hot water heater to replace a broken one. American Plumbing Services installed the wrong kind of water heater. It looked like a sloppy job (see pictures) and the workers were very rude. When we asked questions, the owner of the company threatened us. We paid the company in full the very next day, just to put the whole thing behind us. But almost immediately we started to notice an odor, which started in the water heater area and progressively got worse throughout the house. It became so bad we finally called NW Natural Gas to come out.

Sure enough NW Natural Gas determined that there was major spillage of exhaust into our home as a result of the work this company did. NW Natural Gas proceeded to turn off our gas service to the water heater and Red Tagged it (see pictures) leaving us without hot water.

We had an inspection performed on the water heater by the City Of Portland Bureau Of Development. The inspection results confirmed that American Plumbing Services did not perform the work to code.

We still needed a working hot water heater. So we chose to have the repair work done by a different plumbing company - one not associated with American Plumbing Services - for the commercially reasonable price (multiple bids were acquired) of $1,850. We sent Anthony Johnston, the owner of American Plumbing Services, a certified letter explaining these facts, enclosed a copy of the chosen plumbing company's receipt for $1,850, and we asked for the $1,850 to be reimbursed.

The owner of American Plumbing Services responded with a short phone message saying he disagreed with the letter and would not be sending us the reimbursement check as we requested. When we called him back, he reiterated he wouldn't send us the check and declared: You don't have that many options available.

American Plumbing Services chose to dodge responsibility for their mess. We're very unhappy with them.

These guys are the best in the most 'old school' kind of way. I own a Duplex, in addition to my own home and my son's home. I've used them on multiple occasions, mostly in semi-emergency mode. They always

1-returned my call if they didn't immediately answer the phone

2-set up appointments quickly

3-say what they'll do, then do what they say; no add-ons or sales pitches

4-send highly competent Journeyman plumbers only

5-charge a fair and reasonable price

They're my Plumbers for life!

What a stand-up company.  A little over a year ago they replaced my main water line to the house--in the dead of winter dealing with ice and frozen soil.  The water was back on within 48 hours.  More recently the irrigation system was leaking at the main water connection box,  Mason came out to check the problem, discovered a cracked valve, he dug out the box and replaced the connection at not charge.  I would highly recommend this company.

For a basic repair like replacing the kitchen sink garbage disposal, I expected everything to be easy -- and it was. I set a time a few days out, Victor was on time, pleasant and professional, and all went according to plan. I wouldn't hesitate to call them again.

A week ago we noticed water bubbling up from a flower bed near the house, crossing a concrete walkway, the front yard and onto the sidewalk and then the street.  I started called plumbers. Everyone told me they were very busy and it would be a three week wait!  I had used American Plumbing twice before on household repairs.  Tony squeezed me in a week out.  Then today, Colby finished a couple jobs early and offered to come out.  Couple hours later a three foot hole was dug, the problem found and repaired.  I was afraid the leak had invaded our crawl space under the house. He climbed under the house, examined the main water line entry and took photos to show me that all was well.  A great plumber and a great guy!   I couldn't be happier.  Communication with American was excellent as well.

We bought our fist house just a week ago, and had to call for plumbing services when our kitchen sink faucet sprung a leak in a huge way!  We called around for same day services, and Bob and his team were the only ones that could guarantee getting us in. They came by that afternoon after leaving a voicemail at 7:30 AM.  They brought a replacement faucet with them, and even got in some of our other plumbing concerns.
Their customer service was great, they responded quickly and also were very compassionate with us given we are new to home ownership and plumbing issues.

Terrrible - AVOID AVOID!
New toilet installed incorrectly in Oct 2014. Slow leak brings huge mold bloom 2 years later on kitchen ceiling. Charged $180 to come out and diagnose bad wax ring installation, then refused to participate in over $1500 mold mitigation, demolition, new drywall, etc. Owner very smug and keeps to 1 year guarantee policy - hiding behind contractor board rules. Read other reviews for similar experiences. They do not stand by their work. They must have some very inexperienced plumbers working for them. Avoid unless you are practiced at small claims court - hire at your own risk!

We had a pipe burst in our wall at two am. Not exactly the way you want to start your Thursday morning. My husband shut off the water and I got on the phone to American Plumbing right away. I could not believe they were able to send someone out that same afternoon. We live in a more rural area, making that all the more miraculous. Wade came out and got us all fixed up. He ended up having to cut a hole in our wall to access the pipe. He also had to crawl up under our home. All of this was done in about 2 hours. Quick, clean, and courteous. I was very impressed. I do not have a lot of experience with plumbers, but all I know is when you are panicking you want someone to get there fast and get you fixed up. It is an awful helpless situation, and this company was there for us.

I had Tony come out and do some work in my home.  The experience was horrible! He did not communicate with me, I
always had to call him to get updates.  Then he started charging me for the time he was spending,Researching the job
via phone or internet because he was unsure of how to do it. It was very clear to me at this point that Tony was trying
take advantage of me, and/or he did not know how to do this job properly, and I was not interested in paying for his
time to educate himself.  I immediately decided to pay Tony for the work done, and hire a different plumber to finish the
job that was not going to charge me for his, time to research the job.  Tony then told me that I should not do that,
and that, nobody else would be able to fix my problem, and it wont work.  I then told him where he could go...! Tony then
threatened to remove  the part of the work that had been done already, and/or shut off my water when I was not home. All this
because he was upset that I was firing him and going with another plumber that was not going to charge me to learn how to
do the job. I then payed him in full for the work that had been done, as well as for the, research time, where no actual
work was performed, so I could cut tie's and move forward with the project. Really glad that I did, he was going to
add a lot more of these, research charges to my bill if I had aloud him to continue with the job.  Because of this horrible experience
that I had with Tony, I would highly recommend staying away from this company!
