Superb work!   The water line into our house ruptured, so our household was in a real bind with the  water off at the meter.  I started down the list of plumbers with no one available until I reached Gene with Affordable Plumbing.  He was at the house in 25 minutes.  Finding the leak was a challenge--the supply line runs around the house and is buried 4 ft. deep.  His expertise showed immediately as he narrowed the leak area, then began to dig and dig and dig.   He was right on the leak, which could have been in a lot of spots, and spent a lot of time preparing the repair.  By this point he was more than 4 hours into the job and working upside down in a 4 ft. pit.  He wasn't satisfied with the repair parts' performance, so worked out an alternative approach that required he return the following morning with the right parts.  He was at the house first thing in the morning, went straight to work, installed the new parts, and tested the system.  I am thoroughly impressed with his abilities, patience, and endurance to solve a crippling problem that was well beyond the ability of the do-it-youselfer.  Worth every cent paid!  Will keep his number handy!!

Gene is awesome. I have been using him for all my plumbing needs for years now.

It's hard to quantify what you get from a plumber, but I will try.

He arrives on time, he does the work in the time alloted and I have never paid more than the estimated cost.  He never finds other things and upsells them, which given his competency he could easily do.  

Last time I had him out was when I couldn't get my garbage disposal to turn.  He got it turning, but I decided to replace it so he didn't even charge me for getting the old one working, only for the new one.  wohoo!

Just had Gene out today to our rental house after getting a note from our tnants that they had no hot water. Yikes! Gene was prompt, professional and quickly diagnosed the issue with the tankless heater. Tenants were happy with the interraction and Gene's rates were fair. Highly recommend!

I live in an older house (okay, really old, built in 1930). I don't have plumbing issues often. But never fails when I do, they're nearly catastrophic.

Today was my kitchen drain not draining and a garbage disposal that would only just turn, but didn't seem to be working. Worst part, nasty water was backing up and getting close to flowing all over the kitchen. There was even gross back draining into the dishwasher.

Called & got a real person straight away! Yay! Even better, Gene could get out to my house this afternoon. Showed up exactly when I was told he would. Absolutely professional, super tidy and no up-sells or telling me I needed services I didn't. He even came back in to tighten a line he noticed was loose somewhere other than the repair site for no extra charge.

Their number has a permanent place in my phone.

I had a leak shower head on a Friday.  Two larger companies couldn't come until Monday, but Gene squeezed me in and came that day.  

The leak came back in about a week.    I called to let him know and he came back right away to make it right.  Apparently there are multiple options for the part he replaced and another one worked better.

Came out on a holiday on short notice to fix our water heater. Great job and additionally offered some helpful advice regarding making the water heater more efficient. Would definitely use again.

Our water heater died and we needed a fast fix. I found Affordable Plumbing listed on the Bradford White web site. Yelp reviews gave me confidence, as I had no prior experience with this plumbing company. Gene followed up as promised with a cost comparison to either replace the control valve versus the cost of a new unit. He recommended new as our water heater was 10 years old. He was out within a couple of hours and had us in hot water by days end. I probably could have saved a few dollars but there is a lot of value in just getting it done fast by a qualified installer that has good reviews. I would have no reservations in recommending Affordable Plumbing.

Gene came out to my house within an hour of my initial call on a Saturday. He diagnosed the problem with my water heater very quickly  (there was no real problem. I'm just an idiot with this kind of stuff). He also noticed that the hot water expansion tank was full of water and needed to be replaced. He gave me a reasonable quote and returned within an hour with the part to replace that.

Later on Saturday, I noticed that the hot water pressure was insufficient. I called Gene on Sunday expecting that he would get back to me on Monday. He returned my call on Sunday and walked me through correcting the low pressure issue over the phone and via text.

Great service, fun personality, competent. Glad I found Gene. I won't hesitate to reach out to him for future plumbing and drain needs. Highly recommended.

This morning my wife noticed that our garbage disposal unit was leaking water.  I called the phone number on the old unit which was a national distributor.  The recommended Affordable Plumbing so I gave them a call.  I was worried that we were not going to be able to use our sink for a week but amazingly they said they could fix it right away.  Within 2 hours of my call, the new unit was installed and they even cleaned up some other poor plumbing from an adjoining sink for no extra charge.  I was very happy with the quickness and the quality of the service.

Gene returns calls and is available on short notice, which is hard to find.  If you ask for a bid, he will give you one. He doesn't itemize; he bids by the job, so you need to have an idea of what it is worth to you to have the job done. It helps to know what the going rate is and how much parts cost. His prices are high, but it may sometimes be worth paying a little more when you need a plumber who is available on short notice and will get the job done promptly.  The work he's done for us seems fine; he solves the problem and leaves the work area tidy, and he did wear a mask when he was here during COVID.

Gene was fantastic! Came out an hour after I called him, quick, efficient, very friendly! Will call again if I need a plumber for any reason!

I was in a bind from Home Depot and their associated plumbing company.  The water heater had been leaking for days causing rot and constant dumping of water and they delayed and told me bs info.  I found Gene in a pinch and he was quick to reply and come over.  The next day he did a fantastic job full of custom work - probably why the other company didn't even take my job.  He is professional, very skilled, and does exactly what he promises.

Fast, affordable and efficient service. Gene is knowledgeable in what he does. It was a breeze to talk to Gene directly and get same day appointment. We always use his service with our business.

This plumber clearly practiced price-gouging in my case (almost $400 for a shower cartridge replacement) and I would, on that basis, advise against using him unless he offers a solid quote at the time of contact. His defensive response to my initial review is further evidence of a lack of concern for customer satisfaction and tendency to misrepresent unsatisfied customers. Perhaps the lesson he needs to learn is to avoid ripping off a customer on a small job to maintain his reputation for the bigger jobs which come his way.

I first met Gene when my Grandma needed help with a drain. Gene was quick to respond and arrived knowledgeable and ready to get to work. He did a great job! Grandma was happy!
Fast forward 14 years later I'm still grateful to of found a plumber that I can honestly say I trust! Most recently, he came to the rescue with a failed sump pump and quickly replaced and cleaned up leaving me feeling relieved.
I recommend to anyone who asks for a plumber to contact this company. I refer him to my family, friends and clients. Don't let his accent confuse you, this guy is good! Not to mention, funny!

Very impressed with this company!  Left message and a very lovely lady returned my call promptly, was able to get scheduled ASAP.  Gene showed up and quickly assessed the plumbing issues and began working.  Extremely hard worker, did excellent work.  I plan to recommend to family and friends and will call Gene when I need additional work done.  Need more professionals like Gene in Portland it is very hard to find top notch companies and customer service like this!

Our 15 year old tankless water heater decided to quit on us. Called around, got one estimate that seemed exorbitant for just swapping out boxes. Talked to Gene, he quoted us a price about 40% less than what the first guy offered for the same Rinnai tankless condensing water heater. Had it in stock, came out same day (first guy was going to take several days), had it installed in a few hours. Didn't have quite enough tubing to finish installing the overflow line for the neutralizer for condensation dripline (not immediately necessary for the water heater to function), so promised to come back next week to finish. Would definitely recommend.

I'm a real estate broker, and was representing the seller of a house. The buyer's inspection turned up some issues with the water heater that had to be addressed right away. This was on a holiday weekend (Labor Day), but I was able to reach Gene Kasatkin. He came out that afternoon and fixed everything including replacing a spigot that wasn't part of the original bid (at no charge). He worked in the heat, in a cramped, dark recessed cupboard area of the garage, and was still in good humor when it was all done. Reasonable fees and quality workmanship.

Please don't assume I was rude. I am never rude to people in the service industry, as I also am in the service industry. Secondly, I'm pretty sure I didn't abuse anyone. I was seeking services you were offering. No need to be abusive to anyone you're seeking help from.

Unaffordable Plumbing- the price quoted for a faucet and garbage disposal was in the range of lawyer fees- around $350 an hour.  Plus Gene's attitude was among the most surly and offensive of pretty much any trades person that we have (almost) engaged.

I contacted Gene earlier this week after learning my tankless water heater could use a cleaning. He quoted me a very fair price and he was available right away.  He gave me some useful advise about keeping it clean and how often it should be serviced.  Gene was done with the work within the hour and he was quite professional.  I will call him again for my future plumbing and drain cleaning needs.

Quite UNaffordable in my case. They cleared out our clogged drain in the kitchen and fixed a small leak I caused by plunging the sink. For 2-3 hrs work I paid more than I did for materials and 5 days labor to have my beautiful front porch built. The sink drains now without leaking, but I should have gotten an estimate. You should too.

I highly recommend this business! I needed to have my leaking hot water tank replaced as soon as possible. I called and left a message. Gene returned the call within 15 minutes and said he'd be there in half an hour. He arrived on time and quoted a reasonable price for parts and labor. I accepted and he immediately went to work. He was done in about 2 hours, including the time he needed to obtain the new tank. He was very nice and professional. Spasibo!

Gene is a true professional and a great man. I had an issue with my slow draining sink that had confounded everyone who looked at it, but he instantly fixed it in less than an hour. He even fixed an undetected faucet leak free of charge. At a very great affordable price too! Can't recommend him enough. The best!

Recently bought an old home with leaking pipes that were supposed to be repaired upon sale but unfortunately were not.  I emailed several businesses for estimates -- Gene was the first to respond, was flexible, and had the best price.  He was available the next day, climbed into the crawlspace to have a look, gave me the quote (which was seriously thousands cheaper -- I don't know what the other plumbers were trying to do??) and replaced the old pipe right away.  I had tons of questions and he was very friendly and accommodating.  When my new washer/dryer arrived I was told they could not install because I did not have a waste line so I emailed Gene and the very next day he arrived early morning (always on time) and got right to work.  I could hear he was frustrated (I'm sure he hand a couple of hang ups as this house of mine seems to keep cropping up with issues left and right) but he remained in good spirits, kept true to his price quote, and even moved all the exposed wiring to keep it hidden when the work was done (something that I had planned to do myself).  I highly recommend, and will definitely call him again for all my future plumbing needs!

Intelligent and trustworthy Plumber!  Thank you Gene for giving us hot water after purchasing our new house.  Our tankless hot water heater had two mixing values that produced 100 degrees hot water on the best of days.  We now have the temperature that is dialed into the water heater. My builder just kept quoting its the Code!!  It was worth every dollar we spent and wish I had called sooner.  Now I can get a great shower.  THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

Woohoo! As good as plumbers get! He didn't have a crack hanging out, in fact his shirt was tucked in, which was nice.  He was quick, got the job done, cleaned up after himself, and made sure my cat wasn't in his truck when he was leaving.  Also, he smells sooooo good! He fixed our sink, was reasonably priced, and was honest about the work he was doing and what was required to fix it.  Thanks Gene!

I called Gene on a Friday afternoon. He was at my house within 30 minutes. My sump pump was working intermittently. He analyzed the existing installation carefully and provided a number of options to fix the problem. As the existing system was so old I asked if he could just replace it. He got the new pump and all the parts and had it installed and working with all the back flow valves and everything in a few hours. Amazing service.

Gene helped us out with our tankless Rinnai water heater. He had to troubleshoot and replace two different parts, and even came to finish the job on a Saturday morning. We ended up having another problem with the water heater and he came by same day to button the job up.
