by the way, my ac is working temporarily until 7/3.  it took the tech 10 minutes to diagnose and get it up and running till he got the one part it needed'.  i am so thankful to pro source.  they did in a few minutes what two visits of several hours thomas and sons  could not or would not do,  because they wanted more money from me , they ignored me.

Zero Stars.  This business was provided through my home warranty company when our water heater broke. They couldn't come out for 2 days after the appointment was made-bummer, but I get it.  I ended up calling just to see if I could get something earlier; I couldn't but I had a guaranteed appointment at 11:00 on a Thursday. (A week after our water heater went out).  I did try calling on a Saturday because their website says they are open but no one ever answered and their vm was full.  When I did speak to someone, I mentioned the above and they didn't really say anything.
So 11:00 on Thursday came and went. I called at 11:15 and asked when they would arrive.  Oh we're running behind but we're in the area.  So I asked when they would be there and they couldn't tell me.  The best we can do is call 45 minutes before we come. When 5:00 rolled around my husband called  and surprise, they weren't coming.  No apology, no guaranteed time the next day, just no service. I called another company immediately after hanging up and was given an appointment for the next day.  They ended up coming early and replacing our water heater.  I had to call my warranty company to switch the contractor and informed them to take Thomas and Sons off of their list.  I also contacted the Better Business Bureau.  SPOILER ALERT: I never heard from Thomas and Sons and they have yet to respond to the BBB claim. NEVER USE THEM.

Tim [owner] & John from Thomas & Sons Plumbing came to my house on 6/23/15 per my home warranty company.  They addressed a lot of issues with the house and I explained to them why they had to come out to the house.  I repeatedly asked [3-5 times] that I get their findings in a report.  The most I received was their notes of what was wrong on an invoice [through a link in e-mail which is now blank] in which I had to tell them to add items they missed which was told to me when they came out to the house.  I also asked for an estimate in which I was told I would get on 6/29/15 but never received.  I called today 6/30/15 and spoke with Crystal to ask about getting a report and estimate [has an attitude, I found argumentative, wants to talk more than listen & is defensive] who could have told me days ago that they call the home warranty to share their findings verbally over the phone and there was no written report per Crystal to send to me but they failed to do that.  Due to the issues with the house, it is under Tim's impression this may become a court case in which he made it clear he does not want to get involved even though he would not be the one sued which is why I received minimal documentation of their visit.  I am very disappointed with the level of customer service I have received from this company.  Report or not if I have to take my issues to court they may be supenaded whether they like it or not and it's no excuse to treat me poorly as a paying customer.

I want to give this business a big fat zero. Absolutely awful, unorganized and unresponsive.  Contacted through my warranty company for an A/C issue on a Fri.  I left a message on Sat. with my contact information and to call me first thing on Mon. morning.  Nothing.  Called multiple times and voicemail was full.  Finally reached on Tues. afternoon and asked for an appointment time and was told he was too busy to get to me and to try calling again on Wed. since he might be in my area.  NO!  I'm not continuing to chase this guy down for service. Requested my warranty company remove Thomas and Sons from its list of contractors.

I don't know WHO wrote the reviews on Angie's List, but they must have done it themselves. I wish I had seen this first and not wasted my time. The only reason I gave them 1 star was because I could not go with negative stars. Twice they no call no showed to an appointment. Multiple phone numbers, all apparently cell phones, and they never answer when I call to see where they are. They finally called back after the first no show and rescheduled, then never answered when they didn't show the next day. Unreliable, unprofessional (they never answer the phone as Thomas Plumbing) and apparently I am not the first. Looks like the quality of work follows suit. Save yourself the headache.

I will never user them again and i will tell everyone i know to not use them. Ventless fireplace valve replacement . I purchased the part. $179.00.They showed up late took too long to do the job 3.5 hours to do a job that I could have done in an hour. Only reason i called them it involved a gas line. Charged a $98 dollar service fee, said i needed new fittings were gone over an hour for parts they should have had (he even said so himself). Told me he went to three places to find them which could have been avoided if they had called to see if parts were in stock. Billed me for that trip time.  In the end he billed $478.00 remember I supplied the valve $179.00.  i argued they knocked of $28 dollars.  I paid $450.00 in the end.  In the end a simple valve for a ventless fireplace $629.00 dollars.  Crooks!

If zero was an option that's what they would get. Warranty company sent my order to them on Saturday for ac repair. On Tuesday night they let me know they don't know when they can get to me. Not to mention the fact any conversation with them was them on speaker talking at the same time. These guys are truly clueless.

I just have to add my voice. I don't know how this cowboy stays in business. I had an issue with my furnace, so American Home Shield sent him out. He finally arrived after a week of me badgering him for an arrival date. After a while, he told me that the furnace was old (I told HIM that) and he'd cleaned it. Using another company, I replaced the thermostat but the contractor told me that the real reason the furnace wasn't firing up was that the burners had rusted out. I wonder how it is that Thomas & Sons said nothing about that?
I was obliged to call him out again but nine days later, I wash my hands of him. Call after call and the work is still not done. There is no compassion here for a contractor who blames his lack of dedication on illness and long work hours. Sorry but those go with owning a business.
After a very long call, he is now on American Home Shield's DO NOT SEND list. Whether or not AHS survives this at contract renewal remains to be seen.
Absolutely worthless.

If you have any other choices, go with someone else. They tried 3 times to fix a toilet leak, they either said it was fixed, or there was no problem. But once they leave I could clearly hear water leaking. This is pretty basic stuff folks, any reasonable plumber should be able to fix it. They were never on time within their 4 hour window, one time they gave an 8 hour window! Finally, we had to schedule them again. We waited on the day they said they were going to come, they never show up. We call and they said they made a mistake and it should be tomorrow.

Service at its worst. Move on if you want to save yourself time and hassle. If you are locked into a home warrenty, I feel for you.

DO NOT DIG, CALL TIM INSTEAD!

We bought our home, which was built in 1901, in the summer of 2021. Two months later, our main sewer line started backing up into the basement. We spent the next month going through five different plumbing companies, spending thousands of dollars on all manner of recommended fixes, none of which solved the problem. Eventually, several of these companies told us that the problem was an old house trap that was completely blocked. The estimates to dig it up and replace it ranged from 10-15 thousand dollars. Needless to say, we felt this was a ridiculous amount of money and thought there had to be another solution.

We were then put in touch with Tim Thomas. I was told to give Tim a chance because he was an honest guy, and even if he couldn't fix our problem, he wouldn't overcharge me if we had to dig up the trap. Tim came out that week and spent almost two hours analyzing the situation. Much to my surprise, he told me that the digging, which all the other companies told me was absolutely the only way to fix our problem, would not be necessary. He said that he could clean the old trap out and get our line flowing to the street. I must admit that I was a little skeptical, but Tim seemed like such and honest and earnest individual, I decided to give him a shot. I figured we had nothing to lose, and it beats the hell out of 10-15k right?

Tim's solution took several visits, and I don't want to give away any of his trade secrets but he eventually got the trap open. This is where the plot thickens. Little did we know, but we were actually dealing with two problems. About six months after he got the trap open, the line backed up on us again. Tim came out again, and we discovered that the main line had collapsed under the street. If you haven't ever gone through this type of situation, then be prepared because convincing SD-1 that there is something wrong on their end of the sewer line is not easy: It takes a Herculean effort of time, patience, and arm-twisting. Because he is such a good person, Tim took it upon himself to get involved and eventually through his knowledge was able to convince SD-1 that the problem was on their end. I cannot understate how difficult it was to convince the SD-1 people to recognize that the problem was under the street, but Tim was able to do it. Sure enough, they confirmed that the sewer line had completely collapsed under the street, and they came out a week later to replace it. We have not had any problems since. None of this would have happened without Tim's involvement.

To say that Tim is an honest businessman would be the understatement of the century. He is the most honest contractor I have ever worked with for any reason, and I have worked with many over the years of home ownership. He will tell you straight up what he can do to fix your problem. Tim's honesty and integrity are not the only reasons to hire him. He is a true expert, or I would say genius of his trade. The majority of plumbing companies out there today are simply in the business of replacing parts. Much like the mechanics who no longer fix car problems but just replaces old parts with new, these modern plumbing companies want to charge people exorbitant amounts of money to replace sewer lines, etc., partly because they know the customers are ignorant and at their mercy but also because they no longer practice the art of plumbing.  In contrast, Tim practices the art of plumbing, meaning he actually tries to repair or fix the existing plumbing. Tim is a rare commodity in this culture as he still practices a trade that has become a lost art in our culture of quick fixes and fast money.

Tim is a one man show, so you must be patient. It took about six months to eventually resolve our problem, but in reality, we were also dealing with two problems, the trap and the collapsed line. If you want a quick fix, call one of these big plumbing companies and let them take you for a ride. You will likely get the quick fix you are looking for, but it might bankrupt you in the process. However, if you are willing to be patient and let Tim work his magic, then he will amaze you while saving you thousands of dollars in the process. I cannot recommend Tim enough, especially if you find yourself in a similar situation. Call Tim Thomas today!

Worst service you can ever have.  5 days to get my water heater fixed and at the end they couldn't show up.  Its 20 degrees outside.  They are unprofessional and not certified techs.  Never again.

I had to use this company as they were a preferred provider with my home warranty company. We had a leak in our basement ceiling. They tore up our entire ceiling looking for the leak. They did not seem very experienced. After many hours, they finally found the leak. They replaced the piping and I thought we were done. A week passed and it was leaking again in the exact same spot. They came back out but of course it was not actively leaking when they finally arrived. They added some glue around the pipe and called it good. Another week went by and it continued to leak! I called and demanded that someone come the next day to fix it as we had a drywaller scheduled to come out later that week. They said they couldn't squeeze us in. I feel like they should have been able to fix it the first time and if not, they should have been more accomodating. Their workmanship and customer service both suck and I would never use them again. Beware of Thomas & Sons.

This review will echo the previous reviews.  I had to use this company due to my home warranty conditions.  I called a week in advance and set up an appointment to have them look at a toilet that had a slow filling tank.  They gave me a 4 hour window today (Sept 1) between 11-2. Keep in mind I took off work for this appointment and that we are going into the Labor Day holiday weekend. I never heard from them and no one showed up, so I called at 2:00 to see what was going on and the recording came on saying they weren't in the office!!!  I called again and again until 2:30.  I then contacted my home warranty company to tell them what had happened, and they said the owner had reached out and said there was a scheduling conflict.  Reading over the previous reviews, it seems this scheduling conflict happens VERY regularly.  So now I'm beyond frustrated and angry that it's 3:00pm on a Friday of a holiday weekend and I do not have a main bathroom for my guests this weekend to use.  DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY IF YOU CAN HELP IT!

They are completely overwhelmed. I want to have some compassion for them but I had to spend months on a couple things that should have been resolved in a matter days/week. A had a water heater replacement. When the gentleman (who was nice) attempted to take it out, the heater spilled out rusted water on the cream carpet. Instead of trying to pull it up the stairs himself and risk ruining the carpet more, he would come back tomorrow with another person to help him. I had to call each day for an entire week until he came back out. And he came back out by himself! I had to live with the water heater in the middle of the basement for an entire week! I'm glad I didn't have any plans with people staying at my home during that time. I had to clean up the rust spot on the carpet and was never given an apology for it. Rude, yes but not a deal breaker. I had to use this company due to my homeowner insurance. I was given a quote from my homeowner insurance but come the day of the cost wasn't the same. I spent 5 weeks trying to get a refund from T&S for the difference. I even work through my homeowner's insurance but they said it was something I had to work out with the company. I called nearly every business day to follow up on both these items. The lady working the phones was nice but she mentioned several times she was overwhelmed with the amount of work going on. I would not recommend this company based on this experience. They were nice and everything eventually was resolved but that is because I am relentless. If I didn't follow up nearly every day, I would probably still have a water heater sitting in the middle of my basement and out over $150.

Homeowner/Warranty company/Insurance company BEWARE!

This is a group of the most dishonest people I have ever met.  I kept giving them the benefit of the doubt since my they were contracted with my warranty company but then I finally figured out the level of their dishonesty.  To make an extremely long story short(er) here's what happened:

We needed a cast iron pipe that was starting to crumble in the wall from the bathroom sink replaced.  My home warranty was to cover everything except the initial $100 service charge.  Thomas and Son's provided me and my warranty company two different quotes for the same job (it took me several calls on the phone to figure this part out).  Therefore when my warranty company only covered $400 (what they thought was the remaining balance of the invoice) I was charged by Thomas and Son's another $138 to cover what they said my warranty company wouldn't cover.  This was my first warranty claim and so I just believed them and paid them.

Then the technician told me that someone would be out in the next few days to repair the gaping hole in my wall in our office.  5 days later (I was trying to be nice and give them the benefit) I finally called them back to see when someone would be out to repair my wall.  The secretary, Crystal, gave me the run around for 3 days until she finally admitted that their company doesn't do patchwork and she wasn't sure why the technician told me that.  I called the warranty company to discuss this and that is when I figured that I was only ever supposed to pay the $100 out of pocket, I should have never paid above that.  So, about 2 weeks after the whole ordeal started I finally was able to have another company come out and patch the wall.

After understanding the price discrepancy, my warranty company and I both contacted the company every single day for 2 weeks.  Every time I talked to the OWNER of the company or the secretary, the story was changed.  I could not believe that these people had the nerve to blatantly lie.  They thought that they could get away with it and kept blowing me off.  I think they thought it was just going to be a case of their word against mine however, I had original copies of the invoices and I had kept a detailed call log after I started figuring out that these people were going to be trouble.  Thomas and Son's never came up with a satisfactory solution (although they did offer to waive the $100 service charge the next time I used them [because I'm so anxious to use them again, right.], which my warranty company said that they didn't have the power to do that anyway).  Finally, my warranty company just reimbursed me the extra cost that I should not have been charged in the first place and I'm happy that I never have to deal with this horrible company again.  I seriously don't know how these people sleep at night.  Seeing other negative reviews about the company with similar situations helps me to believe that their dishonesty is finally catching up with them.  A word of advice-- run as fast as you can to a different plumbing company!

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!  VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!
We are in the process of selling our house and purchased the HSA Home Warranty.  Unfortunately, our air conditioning froze up on Saturday and I called to make a claim to the Warranty Company.  They stated they would have a contractor contact us.  We did not receive a call, so I ended up calling Thomas & Sons Plumbing on Monday morning (per the Home Warranty Company, as they were assigned our claim) Their voicemail was full, so I was unable to leave a message.  I called back an hour later.  The gentleman told me he would call me back in 15 minutes, as he was driving.  I waited over 2 hours and had to call back.  When I finally got ahold of someone, they told me their next available appointment wouldn't be until Thursday.  So I scheduled Thursday and they told me between 1:00 - 3:00.  I called on Thursday around noon to find out what time to expect them.  They told me they didn't have time to do it and they could reschedule me for Monday.  I told them that was unacceptable, as it was going to be 90 degrees today and I had made arrangements to be off.  I missed their phone call at 2:59.  They stated they were in my area and I needed to call them back for our appointment.  I called them at 3:05 and left a voicemail.  Called them again at 3:08, they answered this time and said they had already left my area and they were not going to honor my appointment. I stated they were supposed to be at my house 1 - 3, I was at the house, no one had been there.  They stated they called another customer and were not coming for my appointment.  I then said, so you are telling me I need to contact our Home Warranty Company and tell them you are refusing to do the job, after I have waited 3 days for this appointment.  They hung up on me.  This has been a horrible experience since the very beginning and I should have researched BEFORE, I agreed to have this company even scheduled!  I agree with all of the other reviews, STAY AWAY from this company!  Choose someone else for your plumbing needs!

Horrible experience. Deductible chasers if you are working through a insurance company... they diagnosed my water heater problem without bringing in a single tool and said I need a new water heater. I got a second opinion and my problem was solved, stay away from these unethical people they will only cause you headaches.

My sister was doing me a favor while I was at work, by hiring these guys to install 2 bathroom faucets, and fix a leaky outdoor faucet. They installed the handles backwards on one of the sinks, and claimed the outdoor faucet had been replaced with a top notch fixture. It turned out to be a piece of junk, which didn't work at all, and had to be repaired after the first time I used it. Now, it is obviously leaking inside the wall, as evidenced by a stream of water on the outside of the house, and molding drywall on the inside. I'm starting to believe they are not certified plumbers. It took them 4.5 hours the first time to replace the two sink faucets and replace the outside fixture. They charged her over $430, had to come back the next day to switch the handles in the bath, and come back to fix the outside faucet, which now leaks inside the wall.
Stay away from these guys!!!
