They took a while to get to us because there were lots of customers with blocked drains after the heavy rains.      We got regular calls from the dispatcher to let us know we were still on the list which was help.      When Zach did arrive, he worked quickly to clear the blocked sewer drain.

Compliment and a Complaint:  (first time we have ever been disappointed with RotoRooter)
Extremely pleased with Matt Jones (4498).  Very polite, professional - explained issues and pointed out needed repairs and possible complications d/t age of pipes. He completed work with no complaints or issues with job.  He apologized profusely re: Issues with dispatch.  COMPLAINT:  We did have issues with dispatch and scheduling.  First call was on a Thursday night - late call and after assessing issue, Matt explained that work would take a few hours and since it was so late, gave us the option to return on Friday which we accepted.  Friday, dispatch calls and states Matt was on another job that was running over.  Still ok with this.  Dispatcher gave mother option of having Matt return Saturday and be first appointment at noon.  We accepted this option.  Saturday, at approx 1245 pm, mother calls dispatch to determine why tech had not arrived and and was told he was having trouble getting his truck started, (not happy but understand stuff** happens.)Until Matt calls with 30 secs of ending call with dispatch, asking what time do you want me to be there?  He arrived within 45 minutes.  Asked if he had truck trouble and he states he was in Northgate on another job.  Long story short, she spoke with 3 different people at dispatch and feels that none of them were honest with her.   No need to be dishonest.  Also, someone from dispatch was supposed to call her back with follow up and we are still awaiting that call.

Fast answer of my call at 445pm. Then service call scheduled for less than 4 hours later. Then John came out early to check things out and consult on issue. Then mItch came out an hours or two later and assessed issue and cleaned out our drain. Amazing service with quick response and great results. Couldn't recommend more the two!! Thank you!!

So far I can only say I spent a huge chunk of change today on a hot water heater. The tech did a nice job for what a can see and was courteous. The new hot water heater should save more money per year, and I only can trust what the tech advised, I don't know anything about these things.
I noticed a ring of rusty water and really didnt know who to call. I was able to book online which is extremely convenient. I'll see in the long run if it is a great product, it does come with a 1yr. Warranty.

I've used Roto-Rooter twice. Both times they were able to repair/replace what needed to be fixed for roughly what they had previously quoted. I am unable to give them a higher rating, however, due to them twice giving me a four-hour window, and both times missing that window causing me to miss work for a full day both times. The second time they didn't even show up until the following day.

Jordan (#1964) from Roto-Rooter came to house house today to fix a backed up drain in our basement. He was polite, friendly and professional. He was in and out quick. The only reason I didn't give the review a higher rating was the cost. He was here for about 45 minutes total and the charge was $325 so it was quite pricey in my opinion. Not Jordan's fault, he did a great job but the price really was too high for the work that was done.

We live in an older house with poor drain systems and galvanized pipes. Finally, I was tired of our guest bathroom sink and tub not draining properly (how embarrassing when you have guests!!) so we called and within a few hours someone was able to come out and take a look. We appreciated the speed and the fact they got both the sink and tub to drain well, we had quite the surprise when he told us our final cost...over $100 more than the quote and he never even came down to check with us before proceeding on the extra work. Prior to starting the job he provided us with a quote and told us he could access the pipes for both the sink and the tub together so it would be just one job. Turns out as he got to working on this, he realized it would require two entrances as he called it. Would have been nice if he had come downstairs and checked with us before doing the extra work, but he didn't and we were stuck paying for it. I wouldn't call them again because of this. We felt nickel-and-dimed.

Our main sewer line backed up so we called Roto Rooter.  They responded late at night and resolved the issue.  The technician was friendly and seemed knowledgeable.  Very grateful for this service, particularly on the eve of a major winter storm.

The price of $415 to open the drain line was fair.  I would have gladly paid more for the technician to have a helper.  The helper might have helped him carry in the equipment so they could park on the street, rather than in my driveway resulting in their van trenching up my neighbors yard just beyond my drive.  The helper might have helped him carry the sewer machine through my yard, rather than laying deep trenches in the wet dirt that used to be my grass.  With a helper assisting, maybe the technician would not have rolled a muddy mess into my basement, leaving mud clods across the floor.  Maybe I would not have had to spend an hour from 1-2 AM cleaning up mud and dirt in my basement.  Mud not from the drain, but off the wheels of the sewer machine, tracked in by Roto Rooter's technician.

A helper might have helped to make this overall experience positive and for that I would have gladly paid more. Instead I am left between relieved that the sewer issue is resolved and utterly disgusted by the mess Roto Rooter left behind.  Next time I will call someone else. Hopefully a company I can pay more for better customer service.

2/13/2022 update.  The technician broke the sewer lid cap and covered the port with a temporary piece of rubber and a metal strap.  He said he would come back with a new cap but never did.  Ten days later, I discovered wet carpet in the basement bedroom in the other side of the wall by the sewer main.  I had the great pleasure of cutting out padding, treating the carpet back, buying and installing a sewer lid cap, and drying the impacted area.  Thanks a bunch Roto Rooter for making a bad customer service experience even worse than I realized.

Called RotoRooter because a basement floor drain started to back up when the washer ran.  When I set up an appointment, customer service was very friendly and helpful. My technician James arrived on time and took the time to ask questions and really understand what was going on.  It turned out to be a fairly easy fix, and James took the time to explain to me the most effective way to return the drain to full function.  I am very happy with the people and the service.  However, I did not give five stars because I thought the prices were on the high side.

They did water leak mitigation at my home. Before the work I was told they will file the claim with the home insurance and take care of the paperwork.
This was 2 months ago. Today Out of the blue I received a call from Roto rooter to tell me that they placed a lien on my home because the insurance company ASI mailed them a check to the wrong address in NC and so now they have not been paid and so they placed a lien on the home till I pay them. I just want to know why a business can get away with dirt like this? The Ohio attorney general the BBB? Who can an unsuspecting home owner turn to for protection from people like this?

We needed a plumber on a Saturday after breaking our shower valve.  Called that day and were told that we would have someone out between 12-4pm the next day.  The next day came and by 6 pm, we called to see if anyone was still coming out; I was informed that they were still working on getting a plumber....they could not tell me if we would get a plumber that day and had to wait for a plumber to call them with availability.  I was told not that they 'may' have a plumber, I was told we would have a plumber here.  I would have spent my time finding a plumber who guaranteed their services at the time of the made appointment!  Very disappointing due to the reviews I found online.

Roto-Rooter Service August 21, 2009
We had to call because the main shut-off valve in our house decided it just wasn't going to work any longer. Sean (1680) showed up very quickly it seemed and got right to work. He had suggested a pressure regulating valve that he noticed we didn't have. We agreed to it and the replacement of the main shut-off valve. He went out to shut off the main at the street and there was already a regulating valve there. He was very honest and told us and we didn't have to get that, which saved us $$$. He even put up with our smoke detector going off (and being unable to be shut off) when he was soldering. All in all, I would say we had a great experience and if we ever have any other plumbing issues, we'll give Roto-Rooter a call.

Every year or so, we require a plumber to help clear our sewer drain because of tree roots that get in the way and clog everything up. We've usually turned to Roto-Rooter, but one time we went with a competitor for their introductory special. Yesteday, we decided to call that company again (they advertise heavily and have a hall-of fame broadcaster doing some of their ads) but when they got there they wanted my mom and I to pay the full regular $340 rate, so they went packing. Decided to go back to Roto-Rooter, which we've been happy with their service. Not only did they want $100 less, they offered an online coupon for $40. And they sent Andy, who seemed very experienced, and friendly, and worked to make sure everything was done right, and helped to clean the mess. Next time we need the work done (always a pain, right?) we know for sure who to call here in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Our Kitchen sink was clogged so we reached out to Roto-Rooter to help us out and asked how much the service call would be to unclog the drain.  We were told there is no service call fee, the plumber would have to give an estimate on site.  I was out of town and left my girlfriend to handle the appointment and the plumber did not explain anything to her, he just went right to snaking the drain upon arrival.  He was at our residence for barely 10 minutes and provided her a bill for $273.00.  When I returned from out of town and saw the bill I called Roto-Rooter to see if they could help me understand why the bill was so much for snaking a drain.  The Roto-Rooter rep said the charge was correct and that is the minimum charge to snake a drain.  I asked her why this wasn't mentioned during the initial call to set up the appointment when we explained the issue we were having and asked for a rough estimate of what it would cost.  We would not have had the service performed if everything was explained upfront, prior to the service being performed like it was promised, as the price was way too high!  We feel completely taken advantage of and will never be using Roto-Rooter again!  There are more honest plumbers around, lesson learned!

Curtis was very professional and knowledgeable. His work was thorough and well done. He diagnosed and fixed my leaking toilet in 2 hours (it had leaked through the ceiling in my basement). The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was because he completed the job without first giving me an estimate - like I was told would happen on the phone. However - the cost was affordable and I'm happy with the outcome.

I will never use their service again or recommend to friends, family or colleagues.  I requested their services and was given a window of 9am-1pm.  Around 11, I received a call stating the techs were all busy and I would receive an update later on.

Fast forward to 12:45.  No call.  When I reached out to Roto-Rooter, I was told I would get a call a half hour before the tech was ready to arrive but was not given a timeframe.

Thankfully, I have the flexibility to work from home.  But if I had to use my time off from work to wait for an appointment that never arrived I would have been even more irate.

So I called and cancelled.  They wasted my time and the insult to injury was that no one at Roto-Rooter even bothered to apologize or perform any service recovery to keep my business.  I was a first time client.  I'm also a last time client.

Next time, call Mike Hensley Plumbing.  They actually have staff who care and are impeccable with their word.

Scheduled an appointment on Thursday. Called at 8, there were here by 9:15. Robbie, tech number 3983 showed up to do the job, our toilet was backed up. He showed up in uniform, wearing booties to not get my carpet dirty. He assessed the situation, explained the remedy and costs. As soon as I gave him the ok, he was out to his truck to get his tools and had the toilet taken care of in 15 mins. The guy with Robbie even adjusted the float in the toilet tank so more water would fill the bowl when flushed, preventing future backups. Will definitely use Roto Rooter again! Got the job done with very polite and professional employees.

A weekend horror story of a plumbing problem resulted in Tyler from Roto-Rooter making a visit.  Most importantly, he solved the problem with a great repair.  He did the repair in a way that required less maintenance taking special care of where to cut in the walls, etc.  Further, he provided me valuable insights on how to winterize not only the pipe in question, but he also took a few minutes to point out other areas that could use winter attention.  Highly recommend Roto-Rooter and if you get Tyler - you get the best!

I had another experience with these guys. They came out again recently and one of my ceramic floor tiles was cracked when they rolled a machine into the house.

I sent them an email and they called me back within the hour. Ended up cutting me a check for 150 bucks to get it fixed. So I basically got some my money back.

I like this company.

I had a leaky valve on my toilet and called Roto-Rooter.  It took them about 3 hours to get to my place (they promised 2), but when they arrived the service was great.  Matt Jones (4498) and his partner did a great job diagnosing and fixing the issue.  They also sent out a technician to assess the water damage as well.  As others have mentioned, they are expensive as is par for the course for emergency plumbing service.

Run water for 15 seconds. Stop. Then wait 60 seconds for water to drain.

This is a problem.

Luckily Roto-Rooter is constantly at the ready to send someone out to fix this type of problem. When I called that morning, they were able to send someone out that afternoon. The first company I called had me scheduled a week later!

They give free estimates, but I do think their prices are little high (the $50 off Yelp deal helped with that). However, they are quick to respond and they warrant their drain cleanings for 6 months.

The tech was very nice. My pipe was filled with build-up gunk that he said is nearly impossible to clean up, so he was extremely careful during the entire process to be as clean as possible. Once he'd done the initial cleanout, he thoroughly tested the sink to make sure that it was flowing properly. He was prepared to snake it again if necessary, but it wasn't.

He was there a little over an hour, and did a great job. If you need a drain cleared up today, then Roto-Rooter is the place to call.

We called to have our Garbage disposal in the kitchen sink serviced.  It was no longer grinding things up but making a humming sound so we knew it was still getting power.  Although it took some time to get out to us the day of our service, once the service rep arrived he had the garbage disposal working again in a very short time.  He also provided helpful guidance on how to avoid clogging the unit up again and how to clean it with ice on a regular basis.

Plumbing problems always happen in our house near the holidays.  Roto Rooter has always been our stand by plumbing service to call, especially when it is 2:00 am and you want to insure that 8:00 am slot!! Dwight once again reminded me why their number is top of my list  Roto Rooter was on time, knew the problem immediately, gave me an exact estimate and completed the job in 1.5 hours.  Dwight was very pleasant, cleaned up the area and was very concerned with the mess of an open pipe, very efficient.  After signing the credit card, Dwight even wanted to check the leak and drain one more time!!  Great relief to have my kitchen back right before Christmas! Better to know that Roto-rooter is still terrific thanks Dwight for terrific service!

Had issues with very little water pressure from the tub and no water coming from showerhead.   I have galvanized pipes and they were calcified and/or rusted on the inside.  There was a possibility I would have to replace all of the piping, which would have been very costly, but they were able to work most of the day to get almost everything out of the pipes, and save me a significant amount of money.

STEVE FULLAM TO THE RESCUE!

We have owned our Mt. Adams home [built in 1885] for less than a year, and suddenly the basement started getting flooded with sewage water coming out of an unused basement toilet at the lowest point of the house.  YUCK!  Roto-Rooter's STEVE FULLAM (#2037) to the rescue!

Steve was very pleasant to work with, explained every step of what he was doing to clean out the blockage in the main sewer line from the house, and then also the pipes under the house.  He spent HOURS fixing the problem, but he was still not done when eventually we had to leave for a dinner appointment.

Steve did not want to leave us with an incomplete job, and asked to KEEP WORKING!  We felt totally comfortable trusting him to stay behind in the house on his own, and he eventually finished the job and let himself out, locking up behind himself.

GREAT SERVICE!  We will ask for Steve specifically if trouble arises in the future.

During a major storm we lost our main sump and backup to lightning.  Russell from the Cincinnati office promptly came by and assessed what needed done.  He did need parts but was able to get the system functioning to protect our basement, returning the next day with the parts to be able to complete the job.  We appreciated that our basement was protected.

This was the second time I've tried to use Roto Rooter. First time was okay, pricey, but I was in a jam so I overlooked that. This time however, I had to shut off the main water to our house because of significant leak. They gave me a 4 hour window, 4:00 - 8:00pm, fine. However 8:00pm came and no word so I called and they said they were backed up and gave me a new window of 8:00 - 12:00am, sheesh. By 10:00pm I still hadn't heard anything called again and was told it be another 2 hours maybe. After waiting 6 hours already I told them to reschedule for 8:00am and was given a window of 8:00 - 10:00am. 9:00 came and I heard nothing still so I called someone else. With pipe problems usually being a time sensitive matter I won't be using Roto Rooter again.

BTW Before I posted this I had already emailed Pat (see below) and that didn't do anything.

Prompt & Effective, but Expensive.
I called Roto Rooter for a clogged toilet. First floor toilet would not drain, and sink and upstairs toilet would back up into the first floor toilet. The technician arrived promptly and resolved the problem. Service was good, but I thought the $400+ price for the job was high. The technician did discount the price on his own by $75 for spilling some dirty toilet water on an area rug in the entry, which I thought was fair. I would call them again for an estimate for plumbing problems.

I found the service provided to be very professional and comprehensive.  I did have a few issues.  We had sump pump failure which resulted in some minor flooding in our basement.  Immediately upon arrival they began talking to me about new sump pumps without even looking at our current system to determine what the failure was.  The next day when they replaced the sump pump, they learned there was an issue with the drain which required someone else to come out and assess.  This is what was ultimately the problem. I wasn't sure why they didn't look at my system the first day they came out?  The next person to arrive to look at the drain was also kind and professional; however, the estimated offer he provided to repair the drain was almost double what another company said when I called for a second opinion.  Very shocking to me.  While I liked the workers and felt they were kind and did a good job on the work they did, I felt they were trying to use my emergency and take advantage of my family by frightening me into paying a much larger price than necessary.  I'm happy I went with another company, but would still recommend Roto-Rooter as an initial or second opinion for a large issue.

James, #2996, was my plumber on October 27, 2015. My water heater had busted and flooded my basement and he came in and coordinated everything to replace it. He was very professional, very friendly and did the job well. He even contacted the internal Roto Rooter restoration company to make sure they were scheduled to come in for the cleanup. I had water leaking out of the drain stack from my upstairs bathrooms, so I called Roto Rooter, as I had them do other work a few years back.  I had an appointment time of 8 -10 AM.  Nobody actually arrived until 2 PM.  When the 'plumber' arrived, he informed me it would be $209 an hour to locate the leak.  I didn't understand this since I already told him where the leak was.  I just wanted an estimate of what it would take to replace the pipe.  But whatever, it should take one minute to locate the pipe.

The 'plumber' decided that in order to locate the pipe in the wall he would have to hammer three holes through drywall and plaster walls.  The first two weren't even on the same wall as the pipe!  This all took about 15 to 20 minutes.  The 'plumber' then said he needed to call another 'plumber' to figure out how to replace this pipe.  30 minutes later he returned from his vehicle with an estimate of 1700 - 2200 to replace the pipe.  Because the 'plumber' didn't seem sure of himself, wasn't even sure how to replace the pipe, and didn't have an action plan, I sent him on his way.  But before he would leave, I had to pay for his time....an hours worth of time.....to create three holes in my wall that I would have to repair.  That cost 209 bucks!

I should note that I did fill out a survey on Roto-Rooter's website, but received no response.  I brought in three other plumbers to get estimates, all were 500-1000 less than Roto-Rooter.  And were all real plumbers (I don't know for sure if the guy from Roto-Rooter was a real plumber, but he sure didn't seem like one.  I think all he could do is unclog a toilet...well, maybe not even that), and had action plans that night on how to replace the pipe (required taking down cabinets in the kitchen and removing part of the wall to access the pipe).  The plumber I chose to use also repaired all the damage he and Roto-Rooter created.

I would NEVER recommend Roto-Rooter to anyone.

Was pleasantly surprised that Sunday service was available and prompt. My 5 year-old daughter deposited a full grown fecal bomb creating a clog that my plunger couldn't handle. Technician Zach (0181) was professional, prompt and efficient. He handled my problem with a positive attitude. Service was a little pricier than I anticipated, but considering the nature of the problem and the urgent need for service, it was worth it. I would use them again

Called Roto-Rooter at 11:30 pm on a Friday night to clean out a backed up floor drain. Got scheduled to have someone out the next day. Seth showed up friendly and very helpful. He kept my wife and myself well informed and made sure we understood  what was being done. He ran into a few delays but he got it open. They are very concerned about customer service and making sure that the customer is satisfied with the work that was done.

I scheduled an appointment and a tech came out for a service call about my basement floor drain backing up.

The tech performed some troubleshooting and asked me some questions before explaining what I needed and how much it would cost.

I agreed to the service, the tech started working quickly. He explained the process, what he thought was causing the issue, and when he resolved the issue. Afterwards, we ran a lot of the water in the house to make sure the problem was solved.

He was polite, efficient, and knowledgeable. I would recommend using them again for problems of this type.

In the middle of the night, I discovered water in my basement. It was raining heavily outside and had been for most of the afternoon and evening. The water was coming under my basement door, as the drain outside the door was not able to handle the volume of water.

I called the next morning (the water was flowing towards a drain in the floor) and was able to get the appointment of my second choice. A four hour window isn't unreasonable, or didn't seem so at the time.

Three hours into my four hour window, I called and was transferred to dispatch. I was told that there were two technicians finishing up and I was next on the list. An hour later, I still had not received a call. So I called back. I got the well, we got behind, bs line that people say when they know they screwed up, but won't admit it. Since it was already 10 pm, I canceled my appointment, and rescheduled for a week later (this was the next day I was going to be home after work).

They said that they would give me a 2 hour window. 30 minutes after this window ended, I still had not received a phone call. So I called dispatch and they tried to feed me the same line. I wasn't having it. Dispatch said that they would call their technicians to find out who was at what point. I received a call back 15 minutes later, as I was told I would. Finally, they did something they said they would. The tech was on his way, I was told.

The only reason I'm not giving this 1 star is that the tech (Harry) was personable, respectful, and explained what he was doing and finding. He was able to fix the problem (the exit to the drain was blocked by a sod layer that had grown over the pipe end) in a bit over an hour.

I called Roto-Rooter because we used them for all of our sewer problems growing up, and they were always great. Now if their scheduling and dispatch personnel could only match the service provided by their technicians, they might be a great company again.

Tyler was fantastic. He was super friendly, fast and helpful. I couldn't have asked for better service.
The only reason I am not giving a 5 is because my timeframe was at noon and he arrived at 6p. I didn't receive any calls about the delay. I, however, called twice at 248p and 515p. It's really important to stick to the promised time. I took a vacation day and was stuck at home the entire time.

Brought them in to auger roots from a sewer line.  They were unable to clear the roots.  Claimed we had a collapsed sewer pipe and handed my wife a $15,000 quote to dig up the sewer and replace it.  When I got home, I brought in another company who promptly augered it clear to the main, got a bucket full of roots, and camera'd it with me standing there to clearly show no collapse and my sewer was flowing again.  When I called Roto for a refund, they left a message with my wife in which they stated she had signed a document saying that they didn't actually have to get the line clear!  So instead of customer service, they got all lawyerly.  I don't know about you but I don't do business with folks like that.  Then when I was able to reach someone, they said they would need to camera the drain to prove I wasn't lying.  Now totally furious I reluctantly scheduled the camering - they then proceeded to NEVER show or call.  I honestly can't imagine a worse experience.

Plumber did a fantastic job...took care of the issue, verified it completion, a very professional experience.

The low rating is due to the scheduling issue.  I had scheduled an appointment for between 1400-1600, the technician didn't arrive until about 2130.  I scheduled the time advised above, as I have to get up for work at 0300 in the morning...I needed this done when it was scheduled, not 5 hours after.  Who has 7 hours to sit around and wait for someone to provide a service at their convenience?  Every time I called, we were advised, You are next...and the technician was held up at the previous job...

If I ever use your services again, it would be purely based on how well your technician did and our experience with him.  I'll just have to make sure I have ALL DAY to sit around and wait......

I called roto rooter last friday afternoon 8/29 in complete desperation as the expansion tank on my hot water heater had a hole in it and water was spraying EVERYWHERE and starting to flood my basement. The woman who answered the phone was super professional and promised me a tech would arrive in under 2 hours. Sure enough about 1.5 hours later Chris showed up with a smile on his face. He was extremely polite and professional right from the get-go and did not mind my crazy dog at all :) which is always a relief for me. He had me fixed up in under an hour total even though he had to leave to retrieve the new tank and everything. Chris was perfect and he explained every thing he was doing, the cost of every single thing down to the labor and answered every nagging question I had. I will be sure to call and REQUEST him if I ever have an issue again in the future. I will be honest I was shocked at the total bill. The price of the new tank was only $89, but the cost of the labor alone was $251 and to be completely truthful, all he had to do was unscrew the leaking tank and screw on the new one. This obviously is not related to Chris in any way, but the cost of labor was pretty steep! At least now i know what to do if this happens in the future. I would absolutely recommend him to any of my friends and I do appreciate the fast responsive service.

This was a very enjoyable house call from my Roto Rooter man.  He was courteous, helpful and even offered to help me take care of my pipes in the future with the use of their product, Pipe Shield.  It was an extra charge, but should be well worth it as a preventative measure.  The only thing that was somewhat stressful was having to make out a check from my personal account because both of my credit cards were rejected by their system.  There is nothing wrong with my credit and I used one of the cards just this morning and they are both paid up so this was rather disconcerting.  He explained that sometimes their system goes down for no apparent reason and no one's card can get through.  That's life, I guess.  I would still recommend their services.

Excellent and Fast Customer Service.
We called Roto Rooter on Saturday (1/17/15) of a holiday weekend after my husband (who is very handy) could not unclog our kitchen drain.  We were hosting a dinner party that night and I needed the sink to work!  Roto Rooter came out within an hour and cleared 20+ years of sludge from the drain. The serviceman was professional, polite and kind.  He kept the area very clean and was in and out quickly. Most importantly, the drain works great and the service is guaranteed.  I'm sure we paid more for the weekend/emergency service, but that is to be expected.  I'm very happy with their work and won't hesitate to call them again.

This team scheduled and had someone out very quickly.  I have an older house where nothing ever seems to be standard.  Noah was amazing and figured out the setup and came up with a solution to a difficult problem.  I won't forget the amazing service and know who to call for plumbing help now.  My wife is about to have a major surgery and I was really worried about trying to take care of her and the family with no kitchen plumbing!  This speedy and excellent service means more than you can imagine. Thank you!

Main sewer line backing up on a Sunday. Uh Oh. I have trees right above the drain, so I knew it was more than I could handle.
I had just opened the ValPak mailer and had a coupon from Roto Rooter, so I gave them a call. Well more literally I used the online scheduler, which was easy to use. I got an email confirmation with a time frame. I got a phone call within 20 minutes of the start time, saying the plumber was on his way within 30 minutes. Sure enough Andy arrived.
Couldn't be happier - Andy brought in the magic machine and worked on the drain for  nearly ninety minutes.  I've lived here for 15 years and it's never been cleaned, so there were plenty of roots to get through. Success!
Andy explained some of the options available for the next step, which gave me plenty to consider. He cleaned up, and was on his way.
I will put Roto Rooter on my speed dial!

After an unfortunate experience with another plumber (see review of A Water Solution Inc.) a technician from Roto-Rooter, James Wallace came out to survey the situation.  The main drain was clogged by tree roots.  James did a great job walking me through the process and explaining what was wrong.  He clearly explained the options that I had and when he left I had a full understanding of the issue and the steps that were going to be taken.  Scheduling the appointment was a breeze and everyone was super friendly.  What made it even nicer was the coupon that they offered on their web site.

As professional, knowledgeable, and put-together as you see in the TV commercial.  I'm usually one that tends to hold a higher standard and complain more often, but these guys were great.  They were very careful moving things around.  Highly recommend.

I originally called a local plumber, who ended up seeing the job was more than he could handle.  Then, he referred me to someone that didn't call me back.

The only negative was the water damage mitigation team did not show, called rather late in the game, and said they had to reschedule for the next day.

Our kitchen sink was suddenly not draining and, of course, this happened just in time for the weekend. Our go-to plumber is not available on weekends unless it is an emergency, so as our back-up, we used Roto-Rooter. The technician we had was Julian (2036) and I can't say enough good things about him. He was prompt, professional, courteous, skilled, and conscientious. To make a long story short, it was determined that the drainage pipe had frozen water in it impeding it from draining, rather than a clogged drain from debris, etc. (This was one of the days when we had sub-zero temps). Julian refused to give up until the matter was completely resolved. He was at our house for 2 hours and worked the entire time. He made sure that the work area was entirely clean before he left. Total cost was $233.00 (which would have been a lot more expensive had I used my primary plumber). If I ever have to use Roto-Rooter again, I will always ask for Julian.

We woke up on Friday morning with a sewer backup in our basement.  We were in a panic because our house smelled like and outhouse.   We called Roto-Rooter and they had a service man at our house in less than two hours.  He diagnosed a clogged sewer line outside of the house and by the end of the day, the line was clear and running.  Roto-Rooter also sent their restoration crew to clean up the mess, dry the carpets and eliminate the odor.  The Roto-Rooter service technicians could not have been nicer and explained everything from beginning to end.  I will definitely call Roto-Rooter in the future for all of our plumbing needs..

I had a problem turning the water on and called Roto Rooter .A lady came out and just reached down and turned the water on.It was then that I discovered my husband had died while turning off the water .It never dawned on me what happened until then. All was well until she stated some one else had to come out ,said the  top floor bath had a pea drain problem and she had almost got it .I asked how much it would cost and she said with elder discount not over a hundred dollars .A guy came out and I told him nothing was wrong as I saw everything was working .He stayed four hours just going up and downstairs. He said he was trying to fix a sink we never use free for me . Upon leaving he gave me papers to sign ,as I tried to read it he said no need to read it  it was nothing . I paid him more money for nothing ,he said the unused sink was full of hair though no one ever used that sink or did their hair there .I discovered I was being taken advantage of because of my circumstances and immediately put a stop check in. I am giving them a two for two people showing up and sending a third person . Watch Out !!!!

Late on a Sunday evening we were finishing up renovating our bathroom, when a pipe in our shower cracked. Water spraying everywhere we knew we were in over our head so we called Roto-Rooter.  The service professional arrived quickly, assessed the damage, provided an estimated cost and  time it would take to repair.  He even allowed us to call around for a second option without feeling pressured.  He recognized it was late on a Sunday night and bedtime for my kids and did all of his loud work first so we could put the kids to bed.  He repaired our pipes, kept our new bathroom clean and was one of the most courteous  service men I've ever met.  Thank you Roto-Rooter for helping us!!

The technician was young with about two years of plumbing experience.  Tyler was very courteous, and diligent.  He slowly and methodically continued to ream my main line from the house to the septic system, and successfully cleared the clog.  (can't go too far into a septic tank, as this can turn into a knot tying issue for the reaming line)
Main negative issue - I was told I had a 4 hour window for service.  The service technician arrived six hours after my call, not four hours.  RR has a system issue with estimating their service window.

A few different reasons that I'm giving this a 5 star review.

My issue was a clogged kitchen drain, in a house we moved into less than two weeks earlier. I discovered the issue in the middle of making dinner. Worst time possible.

After seeking out a solution, I called Roto-Rooter to get their hours of operation as this was after normal business hours. I was surprised to find someone not only answer the phone, but was able to book an appointment to have someone at my house the next day.

My serviceman was Steve Fullam (#2037). Steve took a look at the problem, immediately gave his recommendations and after my approval, went to work on the issue.

He had the problem solved in less than an hour and was on his way.

During our conversation he gave me some tips on regular plumbing/drainage maintenance and suggested some of Roto-Rooters preventative maintenance products.

Steve also let me know that the service he performed has a 6 month guarantee. If I have any issues within 6 months of his visit, he comes out and takes care of it, on Roto-Rooter.

Would I go back?  Yes, absolutely. None of us want to deal with issues like this. Things happen. This isn't the type of situation where I wanted to bargain shop for a solution either. I wanted it done right, by a professional, the first time.

Have had good experience with Roto-Rooter's responsiveness and efficiency. I missed the first phone call for my time slot, so when my wait ran long, they called to keep me posted on the next available plumber. When the technician arrived he was efficient and polite.

I agree with another reviewer, the cost does seem high, even with using a coupon, and the appt schedulers give no pricing estimates over the phone. I do like the guarantee they offer so if you encounter a repeat issue, they'll come back out to the house at no charge for a certain period of time. I would call them again.

Jordan (1964) came to the house to service a clogged downspout drain that had large roots growing through it. He ground the roots as much as possible and showed me pictures, which he then emailed to me, of the cause of the clog in the pipe. I am continuing with a camera to find where there may be a break in the pipe but I'm confident Roto-Rooter will be able to diagnose the problem. Overall I'm happy with the service and feel comfortable using a reputable company  like Roto-Rooter.

Northern KY Area - service out of Montana Avenue in Cincinnati.
I've been dealing with a clogged shower drain and clogged kitchen sink for weeks.  tried every type of drain cleaner and household remedy possible.
I tried to save a buck and called a local plumber who arrived with a handheld 'snake'.  Not only did he NOT solve the problem, but he left the work area a wreck!

I came to my senses and called Roto-Rooter.  After some scheduling issues, Justin arrives.  Justin was extremely knowledgeable and courteous.  He took the time to explain the reason for the clogs and answered my flurry of questions.

The drain for my washing machine was backing up into a basement shower tub so I first tried snaking it myself.  I also soon discovered that other drains were causing backups too. After my efforts didn't work I called Roto-Rooter. The Service Tech, Will, came out in the late evening on a Friday night and was able to pull what looked like a small bush of tree roots from my main pipe and restore sewage flow. He has also scheduled for a follow up visit to run a camera to discover where and why the roots are damaging and clogging the drain. Total cost was $360 including the camera follow up. Will was very nice and easy to talk to. He was very conscious of keeping everything as clean as he could and he did an excellent job.

Double kitchen sink just stops after Thanksgiving dinner.  It's been slow for a while.  It took a little bit to get a guy out (the first plumber said it was a bigger job than he thought & left without charging us).

AJ (Tech #1970) showed up with booties on, a drop cloth, the right tools, and, best of all, a great attitude.  The man knew what to do and got it done.  Some pipes had to be changed (they were rotted- too much Draino), but AJ did it quickly & happily.

What you really want in a workman, is someone who can accomplish the job without fuss.  I'd use AJ again in a second!

Roto-Rooter came out on 6/6/2020 to clear a clog in my elderly parent's drain. On 6/29/30, after going in the basement, it was discovered that the cover to the drain pipe was left off, and the sewage from the septic system had spilled into the basement. We contacted them again regarding the issue, and even though they gave us a window of time that they would show up, they did not show. 1.5 hours after that window of time, I called them again, and they said the technician was running behind. No one called to state that they were running late. I then asked them to just make us the first appointment in the morning which they said they would schedule us between 8 and 10 am. At 11:15 am, no one had showed again. I spoke with a manager, and he personally called a technician to take care of it. The technician arrived at approximately 12:45 pm, and he wasn't aware that the previous technician left the cap off and they were there to clean up. He said that he would send the clean up team later that day. When I didn't hear from anyone by 6 pm, I called again, and asked to speak to a manager. I spoke to a different manager, who started citing information from an email that had nothing to do with my issue as I never sent an email. He then proceeded to say that he was told to tell me that they would not do the clean up, and when I asked why, he said he didn't know that he was just the messenger. I asked for him to have his superior to contact me, and the manager asked someone in the background if his superior would talk to me, and he said he is not going to talk to her. He is at home with his family. He may give her a call tomorrow.  The next day, someone did call me, Derrick, who once again began citing an issue that had nothing to do with my issue. Derrick called me back later and stated that he contacted the General Manager who stated they would not do the clean up, but would not give me an answer as to why. He also would not give me the name or phone number of the General Manager stating that he was not at liberty to provide this information. Today, 7/6/2020, I was contacted by Scott Dugan, and he stated that the company would not provide the clean up because the work was not guaranteed, the cover was put back on according to the technician, and there was a homemade auger at the location. This is all false information. The issue is the cover was left off causing the spillage, and Roto-Rooter failed to take responsibility for it. I will never use this company again, have already reported them to BBB and will also be filing complaints with the Ohio Construction Industry Licensing Board and the Ohio Attorney General. They are over priced, have horrible customer service skills, and their lack of accountability is unacceptable. Think twice before using them!

Dear Nisa S.t,

Thank you for contacting Roto-Rooter to schedule today's service. This is to confirm that your service technician is scheduled as follows:

Name Nisa S.
Address
City Cincinnati
State OH
Zip Code
Service Request Date Monday, Oct 13, 2014
Service Request Time 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM

At 9:05 p.m., I called the number listed and a gentleman explained that no technicians were available, that they were all out on other calls; someone would call me  1/2 before someone would be coming.  I called back 15 minutes later to reschedule the appointment to the next evening (I get up at 4 a.m.), between 6-8 p.m.  I was extremely unhappy with the lack of courtesy with no call prior to 'no show'.

The next evening at 7:30 p.m., a young lady called me from Roto Rooter to explain that all the techs were busy and she didn't know when someone would be available.  She explained that someone would be contacting me a  1/2 hour before arrival.  At 8 p.m., with no phone call, I was ready to call and cancel the service.  I looked out my front window, and there was a Roto Rooter van.  I never received a call saying they were coming.

Eddie and another gentleman came into my home at 8:10 to diagnose my situation.  I was told it would cost $300 to snake the drain or $400 to repair/replace the plumbing.  I opted for the repair/replace option but the correct size PVC was not on the truck and they would have to come back on Friday - no dice!

I drove up to the local hardware store and purchased the materials required to repair my bathtub drain.  The techs sat in the truck waiting for me to return (I suppose part of my labor cost was the wait time).  The techs were very nice and professional.  I was informed that it was a good thing the Monday appointment didn't work out because the tech that was scheduled to come out was not a licensed plumber, he just did drain cleaning.  YIKES!  Really?  Why aren't all techs licensed plumbers?  I would have been really angry to have waited on Monday for someone to come that would have charged me $300 to clear a clogged drain that needed replacing due to age and corrosion.  Perhaps it might be cost effective to have someone call the client and ask specifically what the nature of the clog/issue is prior to just sending anyone to a job.  Perhaps hiring more staff (licensed plumbers) who can actually service clients near the time frame given by your company or expanding the window of arrival time to allow for run over jobs and travel time.

My additional suggestion is that you find people who have some personality to answer and make calls on behalf of your organization.  I am sure it's a thankless job and people underappreciate those that are on the frontline but from the minimal conversation I had with people manning your phones, if I had not needed immediate assistance, would have taken my business elsewhere.  They were NOT professional.

As it stands, I now have a working tub drain and am grateful.  I am assuming that the inflated rate I paid was for emergency availability with no trip charge.  We were offered a discount for our Veteran status ($50) but I had a $40 off coupon.  My last dissatisfaction was when the techs left my house, they left my attic access open after checking the vent.  I had to climb the ladder and close it myself at 11:30 at night.

This is my review.

I called the night before and dispatchers stated the plumber would be at my house between 12 and 4 the next day.  They called back in the morning to see if we were available for a morning appointment, which we were.  Great thing because I had a lot to do to prepare for Thanksgiving.  Within an hour the plumber (Dave) was at my door.  He assessed the problem, suggested coupons and did the work.  He was professional, kind and thorough.  I will definitely use them again!

I had Dave come to the house to check on the water heater.  He replaced the water heater and a few other items that needed done.  He was very personable and professional.  He was able to explain to me the issues in terms I could understand.  I would recommend RotoRooter and Dave to any of my friends and family.

Had a leak under my kitchen sink that went thru the floor to my utility room directly below, damaging a # of stored items on high shelves, but in cardboard boxes. I had no problems scheduling the appt on a Friday night for a Sat a.m. appt.  The service called me as they said stating Anthony would arrive in 30-45 mins...he did.  A clean/neat, friendly and helpful employee who was professional and worked the solid 2 hours he was here replacing a faucet fixture and unrelated toilet valve. I am a bit skeptical about the price discount vs. coupon issue others have stated, but decided to go with the service.  All was done well and is guaranteed for a year, so that's helpful to have, just in case. Roto Rooter has helped me on other occasions at a past residence with tree roots in the main line and again were prompt for me, helpful, and got the job done.

Awful.  Charged $725 to fix nothing.  They were dishonest about the work they did or the work they quoted to do.  They also broke my pipe drain and left it that way! Their employees work on commission, something no other plumbing company does.  it is in their employees personal interest to charge you more.

I discovered my sump pump had stopped working and called Roto-Rooter; this was on a Saturday evening. The CSR offered to schedule an appt yet that evening (prior to midnight) but we ended up having a plumber arrive the next morning. They called in advance of his arrival, as they had stated. He was courteous and knowledgeable and replaced the sump pump in no time with minimal clean-up. Thank you for the great job!

Roto-Rooter is great for quick service -- I've called them three times in the past month and each time they've gotten someone out that day. They haven't tried to upsell me but have offered good advice about upcoming maintenance needs.

Roto-Rooter was prompt, courteous and helpful. I'm happy with the service.

I called roto-rooter this morning to clear a drain that was completely clogged. I let them know that I was working from home today so I was flexible enough to take the first available appointment and flexible. After they gave me an ETA of 11, I sat at my computer to get to work. Then Good news! I get a call at 9 that the technician is finishing up and heading over in 45 minutes! Awesome!

The guy gets here, compliments me on giving it a try on my own with a snake and then gets to work. He explains exactly what he is doing and why the whole time, and gives me advice on how to avoid it in the future.

It was expensive, about 200 to clear the drain, but it was worth it to take a shower without overflowing my bathroom!

I called on a Sunday and a earliest time someone could come was the following Monday. What this tech did is something I (a woman) could have done. I have a cleanout drain in the front of my home and knew i needed to have the drain snaked as I had a small water backup in my laundry room. I have a tree in my front yard and my drain needs to be snaked at least once a year. The tech was was at my home for 15 minutes and charged me $247. He said he cleaned the drain so that the water would  flow to the sewer and then had the NERVE to say he could JET out my drain for another $780 dollars. He also did not guarantee his work. WTH?? I told him no I did not have that kind of money...Long story short.. I complained and instead if giving me at least half of my money back they guaranteed the work for 6 months. I have to say the guy they sent to my home was lazy and full of excuses.  DO NOT USE ROTO ROOTER...THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE A WOMAN!

Had a problem with a leaking toilet fill valve. Called RotoRooter on a Saturday afternoon, they told me they could have a guy here late afternoon to early evening. The guy called just before 6:00 pm to tell me he was on his way. Toilet being fixed was very old, and all the connections were rusted and corroded to the point they needed to be replaced, but were in an impossible place to get to. The guy worked on it for a half hour or so but was not able to get the old fill valve removed with the space he had to work with. I decided it was just time to replace the whole toilet and all the connected hardware. With the old toilet out of the way he was able to remove and replace the old valve, install all new fittings, and a new toilet by 7:45 or so. Everything is working great. It was a bit more expensive that I wanted to spend, but I knew this old toilet needed to go sooner or later so I have no regrets. My service tech (Harry) was a great guy to deal with, and I have no complaints at all. He did a very nice job and I am happy.

Watch out...these guys scoped a problem I had and gave me a cost of around $24,000 to fix, that's right $24k...another company, CME sewer, scoped it and came in around $14,000...I still questioned their numbers...the third company I called, Zinns plumbing, scoped the same problem and confirmed the issue existed but saw it was on city property...they contacted the city who fixed it immediately...Zinns charged me around $250...all three companies saw the same thing...

While we were out of town a supply line broke and flooded part of our first floor and portions of the basement. A friend was staying at the house and called Roto Rooter to repair the line which was done quickly and efficiently and at a very fair price given that the break happened late in the evening.  Roto Rooter also has a water cleanup service which was great. They came out the next morning and placed fans, dehumidifiers and other equipment in several areas of the house.  As a result of their quick and professional response we had no damage to carpeting, walls or hard wood floors.

The only negative we have encountered is with a company that obtained our information from Roto Rooter and by creative scripting make you think they are a Roto Rooter company and tries to get you to agree to let them come in and do any repairs. Oddly the company never gives their name.  We have received three calls and the young lady says we have been assigned by Roto Rooter or she was calling for Roto Rooter. He manager for Roto Rooter said that he has contacted his company and they are not to be approaching customers in that manner but for whatever the reason the company has not stopped their tactics.

I never got the visit I scheduled. Many issues!

1. A water restoration tech showed up at my house an hour before my scheduled service time. I never said I needed that service and never got a call that said someone was coming to my home. So I call Roto Rooter back, they say it was a mistake and that my actual technician would be showing up at my scheduled window with a 30 minute courtesy call.

2. Scheduled window was between 6-8pm. 7:30 rolls around, still no call. I call Roto Rooter at 7:32 to check on the status of my call. I was put on hold for a few minutes then transferred to the dispatcher and had to explain all over again. By this time, it's 7:40 and he says all his techs were tied up and he didn't have an ETA for my call but that I was next in line. I asked why there wasn't a proactive call to let me know to which he says he was actually about to call all the people who were running behind. Honestly, this should have been done at least an hour in advance when you know that your jobs aren't moving as quickly and none of your techs are near being done to make it in time. I shouldn't have to keep calling. The company should be proactively communicating with the customers to show that you respect our time and value our business. I had other things to do that I didn't because I thought RR would be here during my scheduled time.

3. 8:40pm rolls around and still no call to update or say a tech was on the way. I have a school aged child that needed to get settled down and so I just called and canceled. There was no apology given or even a hint of concern in the person's voice who answered. It was like they didn't even care that they lost business.

4. I'm so surprised by the awful level of service I received. I've dealt with RR in the past and was very pleased. Seems like the quality has severely deteriorated since then. I won't be doing business with RR again with this lack of customer service.

James/13152 was our tech. While cooking Thanksgiving dinner, all house drains backed up. He came first thing the next morning, did a remporary fix and showed me the problem - broken pipes. Didn't show up or call me for a scheduled time of 2-4pm. Showed up at 8pm and they cleared my floor drain. The technician was competent and professional. The next day they didn't call or show up for the camera inspection, scheduled for the next day. I called and rescheduled it for later in the week. I hope they show up, but I can't say I'm confident they will.

I can agree that RotoRooter was very quick sending a serviceman to my house for a clogged kithen sink.  Being charged $108.00 for plastic plumbing parts that were so cheap they couldnt have cost more than $20 was ridiculous and being charged $387.00 for labor to run a snake and put plumbing back together (total of 30 mins work) is tantamount to robbery. I wish I made $387.00 for 1/2 of work. I will not use this company again and if i hadnt been desperate to get sink unclogged i would have taken more time to find local plumber that isnt out to rob a person of their hard earned cash. Really RotoRooter you should be ashamed, you and i both know the work done shouldnt have been more than $150.00. No, I will not recommend you. Sorry but I'd feel bad knowing you are just gonna rob em blind.

Discovered water damage in our home on a Thursday and called in Roto Rooter.  They said they'd have a plumber there by 8am Saturday and he'd call on his way there.  9:30am Saturday I called to find out what happened to their service technician and the call center couldn't find my request, must be a glitch, stuff the operator.  She promptly scheduled another appointment for that very day.  He'll be there between 10am and 1pm.  The service technician arrived promptly.  At 12:59pm.

Thirty minutes or so later he provided me his assessment by phone...a broken water valve and build in our water tank.  He'd write it up when he got home and email it to me that very evening.

Attached is the ridiculous report he sent.  Perhaps it was written by his second grade daughter who didn't understand the point of all the non-essential details of my case that  my insurance company might require.  Like: who, what, where, when, how.

Needless to say, I called another plumber the next day.   A professional plumber.

Jordan was very professional and helpful when he came over to clear out our clog in the bathroom sink. We tried to no avail to snake it ourselves and were happy they were able to come over after work hours to accommodate us. It was a bit expensive but we didn't have any other plumbers come out so don't have a price to compare it to. Worth the peace of mind to know it was done right and has a warranty to go with the work.

I have a drain that needs a snake job. My husband usually does this for us but he wasn't available today. I called Roto Rooter. When they got here they said $287.00 to snake the drain and put an anti sludge in the pipes to clean it out. I said, I don't want to pay $300.00  So he said, We don't have to do the drain cleaner/treatment and we can do just the snake for $200.00. I said, Fine, oh and here is a coupon I printed off line and he said, oh we can't honor those coupons since I already discounted your service.  He did NOT discount my service, he just took off the optional drain/sludge cleaner and charged me less. Thus he proved the point that one friend said about Roto Rooter, that they won't honor their coupons. And, I guess they don't.  I am sure they do fine work, but their customer service is lacking.  I'll do this myself and save a lot of money this time.

Overall good experience Roto Rooter was prompt professional and courteous. I would have rated higher but the price was over 300 dollars for a basic line snake on one drain about a 30 minute job. It would have been closer to 400 if I purchased the drain cleaner product they were pushing pretty hard. Only other thing was the auger machine left a trail of drain good and sludge on its way up from the basement to the front door.

You never want a stream of water spraying out of a lead pipe all over the stacks of boxes and Christmas decorations you have crammed into your basement.  And it's never a good thing when the first plumber you have come to look at it starts wringing his hands in worry and talking about jackhammering the concrete floor and digging up the front yard.

It's a good thing, when this happened to us, that I called this Roto-Rooter place.  Initial estimates for the job ran upwards of $2500, but one of their service technicians, Dave Denton, was confident he could get the job done without destroying our basement and without bleeding our bank account dry.

He did.  After consulting with his supervisor, he arranged to make a special trip out to give it a try, and he completed the job at about a fifth of what it might have cost.

The staff at RR were professional, prompt, and they saved me a ton of money.  I've seen enough plumbers to know that doesn't happen often.

We scheduled service online the night before and they came out the next day and fixed the problem (clogged main line/basement floor drain overflow) within an hour. The plumber (Zach) and a guy who came with him to train were both were friendly, explained everything in full, and did a great job overall. The pricing was much more reasonable than other companies we called. They also offered us a 6 month warranty where they would come and clear any more clogging issues and we were able to use an online coupon for $40 off. Would definitely use them again.

We had a backed up stationary tub in the basement and we needed a plumber.  The few plumbers that I know were all busy and told me they didn't know when they could be out to help us.  Roto-Rooter of Cincinnati was able to get there that night.  August came out to help us and in the process of trying to clear the drain his machine broke.  He apologized profusely, then left to get a new machine so he could get the job done that night.  He drove out and arrived in the middle of a storm and was there for two hours.  He said he didn't think I would give a good review and I told him nonsense.  He was nice, he apologized over and over for the time it took, the job was done well, and hey stuff like broken machines happens in the world.

First of all. I think the work done was done well. My problem lies in the billing of the job. My technician had an apprentice with him. I purchased 1 sump pump ($158), and one venturi back up pump ($280). My materials bill was $1000 so all of the piping and accessories cost $530? Not buying it. Also, my labor was $1100, that is over $300 per hour for the work. I had 1 technician and a technician in training. It looks like I paid for the trainee's time and the extra time for him to get the training. Other people I know only paid $400 for the exact same service. Then he offered to snake the drain in the basement and was going to charge over $200 for that and he was already at my house. I said no thanks. I will never recommend this company again. They were late as well.

These guys came and helped us by totally dealing with the raw sewage that had backed up in our basement. Three teams worked on snaking the pipe (thank you, Steve 1188), cleaning and sanitizing the room, providing an estimate for our insurance company (appreciate your hard work, Brian), and scoping and fixing the problem areas of our piping (Great job, Mike and Mike). They had our total trust because they were totally professional and courteous. They came when they said they would, did what they said they would, and charged fairly.

Got the job done but process was very long and price was expensive. I called at 10:30 AM and was told that someone would be out within 4 hours. Plumber didn't show up until 4:30 PM, was there for fifteen minutes then said had to leave because his machine broke and had to get it repaired. Plumber wasn't out of my house until 8:30 PM. My basement floor drain was backing up anytime I ran water from the kitchen. I attempted to snake the drain myself, with no luck. I finally decided to call Roto Rooter. James showed up first thing in the morning and snaked the pipe 3x to resolve the issue. He then recommended a drain cleaning enzyme to prevent the back up from happening in the future. The company brand was $60, but I was able to find it much cheaper ($15) at Lowes. James was very professional and explained everything that was going on. They do charge $287 to snake the drain, which I found a bit pricey. I forgot to give James my coupon and he said he was unable to re-run my card, but he would bring my coupon to headquarters and see if they could refund my money ( Still no word on this 4 days later, so uncertain if I'm getting this money back or not). Overall, I would call Roto Rooter in the future with any plumbing needs.

Quick, got the job done and the pipes back up to working order. The price seemed fair and less 'nickel and dime' like some of the other places. Yesterday I made an appointment early in the morning with Rotor Rooter using their online system.   We had an outside spigot that was leaking a lot and my husband couldn't fix it.  He's used Roto Rooter at work before (he works in building maintenance).   I set up the appointment for 11 AM - 1 PM but they didn't make it out to our house until 2:30.  Their office called several times to let me know that he was delayed.  Once there the technician was very polite and got to work right away.   He was done in about an hour for less than the estimate.   I thought the new spigot looked good and appreciated him showing me what went wrong.   My husband checked it over when he got home and thought he had done a good job too.  While it was a little more expensive than he thought it would be, we both agreed it was worth it.  We would use them again.

The plumber, Matt #2719, was friendly and on time. The job turned out to be bigger than expected (as we discovered a couple of days later), but since we called him to do a drain clean, I won't dock him any more stars.

Jarod Parks (1720) was extremely professional and knowledgeable. I've been looking for a good genuinely honest plumber for quite some time now & he will definitely be my go-to guy. If you live in the south Dayton area definitely request Jarod so that you receive premium service.

I had a major plumbing issue late at night on Saturday which flooded part of my living room and bathroom. I immediately called my local plumber who was honest and told me I'd probably get a better rate with roto rooter for what I needed done. My main line from my house to the street was clogged and he said roto rooter deals with this all the time and would be my best rate... I called their 24 hour call center and the person scheduled an appointing for first thing Sunday morning which surprisingly was a regular business day and there wasn't extra fees like most places would charge. I was surprised they could get someone so quick on short notice. They called 30 minutes ahead and asked some questions to come prepared for the issue. They showed up, looked at everything and gave us a free quote and said we could go with them or we didn't have to and there was no charge for the quote. The quote was good, and the work was performed successfully, and courteously, they even took our coupon we found off of the bill. I feel their service fee was fair and a great value. I would recommend them to anyone and plan on using them for any future plumbing needs.

I was very pleased with my experience- I got someone out to my house the same day I called, and the dispatcher was extremely polite. The technician Steven was very professional and knowledgeable and fixed my plumbing issue, suggested ways to prevent the issue reoccurring and in general worked fast.

Terrible experience in Cincinnati.  Three different times, they promised that someone would call.  No one ever did.  The last time I reached the dispatcher directly.  He promised action and said someone would call in 2 hours.  I left after 3 hrs.  They called in 4.  I had to drive back in an ice storm.

The plumber arrived and took a look at the clogged basement drain.  He told me $329.  I told him Roto Rooter only charged me $100 3-4 years ago.  And took less than an hour.  He corrected me and said it was $110 in 2011.  I asked why so much and he said prices go up.  Then he dropped to $289.  I told him to forget it and he turned cold and said good luck finding someone for less.  I found a local independent plumber for $159.

First off we have had **** luck right before Christmas! 2 weeks ago Steve came to replace our water heater. Today Christmas Eve Patrick came to fix a pipe under our kitchen sink. Pleasant experience all the way around, from the phone call to schedule to who showed up to help us! Both Steve and Patrick were stellar! A business open 24/7 you may pay a little more than average but emergencies plus a holiday is well worth it! Extra bonus to have two of the friendliest people we could of dealt with!

Very pleased with service from Steve/1188 - early morning call to dispatch was handled very quickly and pleasantly by the tech on duty - confirmation e-mail came within minutes. Got call from dispatch when he was within 30 minutes - and he was here within 15. Quick assessment, solved the problem, and I'm back in business. Steve was very personable, outgoing, answered all my questions, and a pleasure to have as my service tech. My second call to Roto Rooter in 2 years - recommend them - and in particular Steve - any time!

We called Roto-Rooter on 4/3/15 to come out and hydro-jet our lines, as we knew we had significant root blockage from a previous visit.  Brandon (2039) came out for the two hour session.  Brandon was polite, and obviously knew how to help.  After the 2 hours, our main line was clear of roots, and our problem was taken care of.  Thank you Brandon & Roto-Rooter.

I've had RotoRooter out to my house for two separate jobs. The first time was to clear roots from the drain pipe our gutters empty into. They did the job, but the problem returned less than two months later, which tells me they didn't get it all the first time. I'll be calling someone else this time, especially since ...

I called them out to fix a toilet that was ghost flushing. My wife and I researched the problem on the internet and tried all the fixes that were suggested. We still couldn't get it to stop, so we called the professionals.

RotoRooter's first visit cost us $300, and the plumber was there for all of 45 minutes. When the problem persisted, he came back the next day. When it was still not working, we requested a different plumber. This time, a master plumber was sent. He actually made the problem worse, because after he left, we found out the toilet was leaking onto the floor. So we called again and they sent a third plumber out. He left assuring us the problem was fixed. Sure enough, the toilet didn't leak onto the floor ... but it still was ghost flushing. After three plumbers and four visits.

I finally called and requested my money back. They said they would void my check and return it to me. I'm waiting for it to show up. Regardless, I won't be calling them ever again.

Can I give zero stars? I'd REALLY love to give zero stars! Do NOT waste your time on freaking Roto-Rooter!

A pipe is clogged so NONE of the water or waste is leaving our house.  Yes, we discovered water,  tissue paper and POOP draining into our basement. A WEEK  ago.  Been trying to get them out for a week but we work a LOT and have to get up at 4 am so after waiting three+ hours like three different days for someone to show up, we decided to reschedule.  We just bought this house and haven't moved in yet so it's not like we can Netflix and freaking chill all night at a house we aren't living in when our work day starts so early. We can't continue our renovations until the pipe is fixed and we are running out of time.

So we rescheduled for to-freaking-day. They'll arrive between 12 to 4. Decent enough.  Hubby goes and waits.  And waits.  And waits. Receive a call at 5:50 that all the plumbers are backed up... much like the freaking pipes in my house!  Ok, so we wait... and wait. There's a blizzard right now, you guys. We would've been home safely before it started if they'd made it within the four hour window they gave us. 9:20 pm, guys. 9:20 pm... almost 9.5 hours of waiting later, we get a call that they aren't going to make it.  The roads were just fine from 12 to 4. Heck, even at 7 pm they were ok.

Absolutely freaking ridiculous!!!!

The technician that came to our home (Curtis) had a high attention to detail and really showed workmanship that he would want in his own home. We had a pedestal sink replaced and it wasn't a perfect swap. Due to the way the original was installed, he had to add some ingenuity and finesse. He took his time and only settled on perfection and a job I am sure would be equal to what he would do in his own home. He did not cut corners and that was evident.

Rooter rooter was very professional.  They came in and got the job done in a reasonable amount of time. The only thing that prevents me from giving them the full 5 stars is that the estimated arrival time was very late. They were supposed to arrive between 4 and 8 and the technician did not arrive until 10 pm. However we were in a bind and I am glad they were still able to come the same day as we requested the service.

I called on Thursday to schedule a plumber for the Mason area.  The CSR told me they could be out the same night within 2 hours.  That was good news.  However, two hours later, I got a call saying all of the servicemen were at other jobs and they didn't know when they would be out.  I rescheduled for another day not wanting to waste anymore time.
The other dissapointment was the price.  I had a clogged kitchen sink. The said for a deal they would clean out three drain lines.  The total bill was $575.  This was a slight shock and I didn't expect the bill to be so high.

I spoke with a rep at Roto Rooter yesterday and she stated this particular Roto Rooter company doesn't sub contract their help and do hire ALL their employees. She is going to refund me 1/2 of the money I paid for the service and we also discussed ways for her tech to be more professional and be more prepared.  She was very pleasant and I am very pleased with the outcome.  I know all companies are not perfect as nothing is but a company willing to back their employees and make right on the problems is a good company.  Thank you.

I had been putting off getting my leaky shower fixed for quite awhile. Suddenly the leak was getting a lot worse so I decided to call a plumber. I admit I tried calling a few places before Roto Rooter but I was shocked that I called 4 small plumbing companies and nobody returned my calls or voicemails. The first time I called Roto Rooter I was actually talking to a person, who set up an appointment to have my shower fixed in two hours! Sure enough, a plumber was at my house at the promised time. The problem was fixed pretty quickly and without any issues. I felt like the plumber was experienced, professional and honest. He was also cool enough to give my dog some affection when he came to the door. He even offered us some maintenance advice for the future. I will absolutely call Roto Rooter with any plumbing needs I may have in the future.

They did a great job! After doing a ton of construction work on our very old home, we noticed our basement drains were backing up. Thinking that they just needed to be snaked the problem would be a simple fix. Think again...As soon as we removed the drain lids. there were what appeared to be tree roots every where and the smell was awful. I called roto rooter right away, and some one was at our house within the hour. He assessed the situation and after snaking the one drain and getting out a ton of sludge and roots, he suggested calling the camera snake guy. He was there within 30min of the tech calling him. The service was so fast and friendly, and the problem is fixed! YAY! The only issue is the price. It was really expensive even with the coupon that I had from the internet. And the discount I received for doing more than one drain. :(

I had previously used Roto-Rooter to clean an outside drain and was satisfied with the service. I called Roto-Rooter to get the drain in the basement unclogged. The technician arrived on time and was courteous and he should have been. He cleaned the floor drain and replaced the PRV valve and adjusted the water pressure to 60 something.  He charged over $600 for 3 hours labor and $192 for parts. I did receive a $93 discount. I feel this was a little pricey. Unsure if he used a camera to see how far the clog went.  Lesson learned, I will get estimates from at least two businesses for any future plumbing.

Had an outside sanitary line issue. Conveniently scheduled an appointment online late-night before a 4-8 pm next-day time slot. Quick email confirmation of appointment by Roto-Rooter. Got the promised 30 minutes ahead of time call about 3:30 pm, with Matt (#2719) arriving shortly after 4 pm.

Everything about Matt's work was exemplary and highly professional. Plus, he had a great personality. Fixed our problem promptly and did the free camera inspection of our line, inviting us to watch while he gave helpful description along the way. Provided helpful suggestions regarding future line maintenance. Best plumbing experience we've ever had. Highly recommend Roto-Rooter--and especially Matt!

Crazy expensive and got absolutely nothing out of this experience.

My pipes were backing up from out side. Had a tech come out to look at it. He gave me two options. One to shove a camera down in there to find the blockage, another to stick an auger down there to remove the blockage. He recommended just doing the camera because the auger was no guarantee to remove the blockage and could be a waste of $300. So I elected to do the camera since he said it was more than likely a busted pipe somewhere.

So I let him do the camera. After about 5 mins he was packing up and said he found the blockage. He spray paints the yard and tells me to dig up and you'll see a crushed pipe and all I had to do was cut it out and replace it. Great.

So here I am with a giant trench dug out in my yard, the pipe is completely fine. Clearly just needed to be unclogged. Perhaps this is more on me for letting him talk me into the camera option, but these guys are supposed to be the experts. Regardless, I paid $415 for someone to stick a camera down my pipe.

Total rip off and I would absolutely never recommend, or will I ever use these people again.

If there was a way to split up my review, I would give our technician, Brian Sharp (#4755), 5 stars. Brian was prompt, knowledgeable, courteous, and thorough. He was able to clear a ton of roots and a clog from our basement floor pipe.
The rest of our experience rated a 1. We were promised on the day we called an appointment between 4-6 PM. Twenty-one hours later and several calls to Roto-Rooter, a technician (Brian) arrived.  No one, except Brian, ever apologized for the delay.  We had expected their fee to be higher than normal (which is why we had requested their 24/7 service), but that was negated by their delay and apparent lack of caring that we were unable to use our water for that period of time.

In the future, we will ask for plumber recommendations on Next Door or similar sites.

You know, the You Tube video made my plumbing repair look like something I could accomplish in an afternoon, after all, the video was only 6 minutes!  Several hours and trips to Ace Hardware later I was in a bit of trouble with my DIY project.  I called Roto-Rooter at around 3:00pm and they had someone out here by 5:00pm the SAME DAY.  Matt, the technician (Tech#2481) they sent out, was very professional and extremely helpful.  Turned out I needed a whole new fixture.  Matt took care of everything (bought a replacement fixture, replaced it, cleaned up the bathroom) and tonight we go to sleep with no drip and peace of mind our project is complete.  I'm not GLAD that this happened but I am happy that again, Matt and Roto Rooter quickly was able to quickly triage and remedy our problem.

Scam company! Was unable to fix the leak in my shower then charged me $600 to unclog my toilet that was never the issue.Tech gave me a $600 estimate to find and fix leak. He said if anything changes he would tell me before he proceeded which he absolutely lied about. Customer service was no better. They said since he performed a service they didn't care whether it was needed or in the initial estimate that was what we paid for. Do nor use this company especially for bigger plumbing jobs. The techs are inexperienced and don't have the equipment. This tech even asked to use our ladder and our step stool because they aren't provided.

He was extremely nice and respectful of our home. Mike even asked if there was anything else we would like him to look at before he left. Above and beyond!

I had a serious clog last year in my kitchen sink drain, down to the main line. Mike Z (#3492) was the tech who came out and got rid of the problem for us.  He was so professional, knowledgeable, and courteous, that he left a lasting impression on me and my wife.  Today, I needed someone to correct the under-sink plumbing configuration resulting from my do-it-myself efforts.  The only company I even considered calling was Roto Rooter, and asked for Mike, in particular.  Fortunately, he was on duty, took a look at everything, gave me a reasonable quote, then set about making it right.  As with the previous visit, he got to work right away, solved the problem, and cleaned up as though he was never here.  Plus, it's just a real pleasure doing business with pleasant people who charge a fair and reasonable price.

Thanks, Roto Rooter, and an even bigger thanks to Mike Z!!!

Very disappointed in Roto Rooter.  Called on Sunday and requested a certain plumber. I was informed that he wouldn't be working until Monday.  They scheduled me for Monday between 12 &  2pm.  Got several calls that he was running late. Fine no problem I'm not a difficult person.  Got final call after 4 saying he would not make it but he would come on Tuesday afternoon. I asked specifically if there was any possibility of a repeat of what happened today.  Their response was absolutely not.  Well, no call on Tuesday so I called them at 2:30.  Guess what he was running late but they assured me I was next on the list.  Get a call at 4:30 saying he was running late and would not make it.  I'm guessing they don't think our time is valuable and they can just keep blowing us off.  I will no longer use them or recommend them for any future problems.  Very rude to say the least!
Update - got a call at 7:30 pm from Roto Rooter.  Thought maybe they called to apologize.   No such luck.  They called to reschedule.  I said only if I could be their first appointment of the day.  Their response was to schedule me between 8 & 12 with no guarantee that they would show up.  Sorry, my time is more valuable than that.  I'm not going to sit home for the third day in a row only to have them not show up again.  I'm shocked that this place has any customers.  Will look for a reputable plumber tomorrow.

Every few years it seems I have to have the drain from my laundry tub cleared out. I've always been satisfied with the speed and completeness of the job. I will admit that this year I was a bit struck by the high price tag for a relatively simple job - I simply don't remember it ever being that high before. I purchased some Preventive Pipe Shield product that will hopefully eliminate the issue in the future.

Our water heater broke, we called and AJ came out same day. He was very nice and told us what was wrong and said he would be back the next morning to install a new water heater.
He arrived at 9 am. Well, come to find out the people who finished our basement (before we moved in) failed to leave an uncovered drain, so one of the problems facing AJ was having to manually drain the tank. The basement finishers also put the gas lines in front of the tank so AJ had to take care of those before he could even get the old tank out. He dragged that half full tank up the basements stairs, all of this by himself. Not once did AJ act in any way unprofessional. He was here until 9pm. 9PM! AJ went above and beyond in my opinion. He was professional, kind, courteous, clean...I just can't say enough good things about him.
I hope he gets Employee of the Month because he totally deserves it.

Our line from the basement to the sewer backed up on Easter Sunday night. Matt J (4498) arrived at the house within 45 minutes and had the drain flowing freely within the hour. We had 3-4 inches of water in the basement by the time Matt got there. Roto-Rooter's quick response kept us from having any significant damage. We called two other plumbers that night and, as you can imagine with it being a holiday, neither called us back even though we had used them both before.

I have been meaning to write a review for a while now, but just haven't gotten to it.  We have dealt with roto rooter for years, our basement drain backs up at least once a year.  We live on a lot with lots of maple trees and the hairline roots work their way into to the clay pipes.  Our home is almost 60 years old and so are the pipes.  Roto rooter used to be priced reasonable when it came to snaking out the drain, as the years passed the prices continued to go up, the last time we called them out they said it would be $300.00.  A bit high we thought but it needed to done so we said ok.  The tech came out started to snake it out and said he thought we might have a crack in the pipe, there happened to be a supervisor in the area, he called him in to put a camera down the drain.  Sure enough they found a crack in the pipe, tried to show me on the camera and I couldn't see it, he then took me outside and said this is where the crack is.  He quoted me over $6,000.00 to have it fixed!!  I told him we couldn't afford that right then, he seemed a little put off by that and said good luck.  I just wanted them to leave by this time.  Next year, 2018, basement backed up again, husband suggested calling someone else.  I called a reputable company, they came out snaked the line and ran a camera down the line, and told me....Wow as old as your house is you have NO cracks in your line!  I asked them several times to repeat themselves and they said yeah you have no cracks!!!  I was floored!!!!  Decided to get a turbo clean from them (way less than $4200) and haven't had a problem since (granted it has only been a little over a year but so far so good).  Roto rooter is a total rip off and will charge you for things you don't need.  And they will try and pressure you into getting things done you don't need!!  Trust me....take your business elsewhere!!!!

Do not call Roto Rooter, unless you have done research on your plumbing problem yourself.

I called to have them unclog a toilet that a plunger couldn't take care of and the plumber tried to tell me they had to pull the toilet and when I suggested they run a toilet auger through it he said, I've never heard of such a thing in my life.  A toilet auger, he, a licensed plumber had never heard of it...

When I said I was unwilling to pay $215 to have him pull the toilet, he told me he could run a toilet auger for $115.  This, the tool, he had never heard of in his life.  I had no choice really but to have him run the toilet auger which took care of the clog, of course and pay the fee.  Needless to say, I won't be calling roto-rooter for any other services, which is too bad because we need to have our basement plumbing repaired.

We had used Roto-Rooter in the past to clean out our main sewer line, and have always been satisfied. This time, I decided to try and save some money, and called another big local company who was offering an $87 special. Well, that was $87 literally down the drain. Dude was nice, but had no idea what he was doing. Took out 2 tiny roots and then got his snake stuck and called it a day. The Reds broadcaster was wrong about those guys.

So I literally had Roto-Rooter in the next day, and Andy cleaned it out to perfection. Learned my lesson. Always call an actual plumbing company for your plumbing problems. Roto-Rooter is tops.

Yelp has a $50 off offer, and if that ever goes away, search the internet and there are $40 off coupons out there too.

August (#1370) did an excellent job hydrojetting our sewer line.  It was longer than we thought and he still completed it in 2 hours.  He was very courteous and even wiped his fingerprints off the glass on our tabletop.  Wow, wish my kids would do that.

I had some slow running drains (3) at a rental property and had given up doing it myself so I called Roto Rooter. The dispatcher called my tenant instead of me but luckily I was on my way over ... I met Matt (#2719) and he quickly surveyed the job and gave me an estimate. It seemed a little high so,since I saw on their literature that they would negotiate, we talked and eventually came to an agreement. (Still a lot of money) Anyway, Matt was great, he finished quickly and left the space as clean as he found it. Yes, I would use them again and I would ask for Matt ....

Very professional.
2 main water problems at my other home.
Cost 600.00 .
I had 2 separate plumbing jobs the total cost was as stated above 600.00.
They came that day 3 hours of work and no more water issues.
I am happy......

This review is for two pieces of working with Roto Rooter: 1) the customer service who handled our phone call and scheduled the service, 2) the technicians who actually arrived and did the work.

First, the bad. Our basement had backed-up and filled with sewage. Blech. We called more than one place to see who could come fastest. Rotor Rooter appeared to be our bet. The customer service folks we called were horrible. The promised service within 3 hours. 3 hours later we get a call that it'll be AT LEAST another 1-2 before someone comes. Suddenly we felt like we'd be had. It took forever for our technician to arrive, WELL beyond what the initial customer service rep had promised. But, what could we do at that point?

Second, the good. When our technician arrived, he was awesome. The first person I'd talked to all day who actually seemed to understand what was going on. The City had been making mistakes and suggesting things that not only didn't work, but were flat our wrong. Our technician got things going and found the source of our problem. Thank goodness. I'd easily choose our technician again and again. I'm not so sure about the customer service. But, I've only had to use them once. Everyone has bad days.

I called Roto-Rooter after 4PM and was told they could send a worker out that same evening. Both Roto Rooter employees that I spoke w/ on the phone were courteous and on the ball. The plumber, Langston, arrived before 6. He was polite, professional, and speedy. While the price might have been somewhat more than competitors I am glad to pay a few extra dollars for such efficiency. I would definitely use them again, I just hope I don't have to :)

Thank you Roto Rooter and our awesome tech Chris.   I had no idea what I was going to get into, this is my first home and my real first issue with back up pipes in the basement/ kitchen.  From the start my experience was awesome they had my appt scheduled and someone would be out with in an hour!!!!!!!!!  They called after 5 mins  to let me know the tech was on his way.  Chris arrived with-in 30 mins he was extremely polite answered my questions and gave me the best solution for gross 60 yr  old galvanized pipes. Chris gave me multiple options that would fit into my budget. From my first call to the job being complete it took LESS than TWO HOURS I am beyond pleased I would recommend Roto Rooter to anyone who has plumbing issues.
Thanks again Roto Rooter and Chris  Poulin # 1225

Harry (#3466) from Roto-Rooter came to our aid today after at least a five inch rainfall last night filled our basement with water.  Again.

My hubby is very handy and a perfectionist, so we don't typically hire people to do maintenance.  If we did, they might end up weeping, and Hubby would *still* end up doing the work.  But Hubby had rented a super long snake twice already and failed to stop our long-standing basement backups.  (Though he did solve them in the short term.)

It remains to be seen whether this solution will last longer, but the cleaning tool was longer than Hubby can rent, locally; and Harry extracted a large root ball and some things that should not go down the toilet but apparently did.

Plus?  He was nice, even though he had been up very late helping other, more desperate people with their emergency water backups.  Our dogs did their darnedest to make him feel unwelcome; he just laughed and chatted with them through the door.

Maybe we should hire people more!?

We had two toilets that would not stop running. Bill quickly assessed the problems and fixed them. We also had a leak in the kitchen sink. Bill determined tat we needed a new cartridge but finding it was a problem. the local plumbing supply houses could not identify the correct part needed. I had to contact the manufacturer but they agreed to send a new cartridge for us. Once it arrived Bill came out the first thing that morning and installed it for us. We are very pleased with his work.

Matt provided very honest work and gave his professional opinion freely. He stayed much longer than I expected he would. He exhausted all of this options at hand to address my problem. We have several blockages from tree roots in our main drain out to the city pipes. He used both of his 'snakes' and did the camera twice. He also marked a collapsed tile piece under the street. He used sophisticated technology to pin point where the issues are. He also answered my many questions in a straight forward mannor. My overall experience with Roto-Rooter was good. His ultimate suggestion on how to address the plumbing issues we are facing makes sense, and we will most likely follow up with them as such.

Backed up basement drain in the floor. Roto Rooter was at my place in under 2 hours from when I called on a Sunday evening. Zach (tech 0181) stayed until 10pm, not taking any shortcuts, and snaking every section of the basement drain. He was real friendly, and did a better job than the other company i hired for this same problem a while back. Roto Rooter includes a camera in the cost, so the camera guy (Braden) came out two days later and did a very thorough job putting the camera through all the different parts of the drain, and explaining what was going on in each damaged section.

My parents have an older home, their home is located at the end of the street and they have had a lot of sewer problems requiring snaking, etc.  the most probable issue is tree roots.  They recently had an estimate from this company after waiting over a week for an appointment with no drainage, unable to use toilets, the sink, washer, etc.

Estimate almost $8,000.00 with 2500.00 down payment!!  & they will schedule service in 2 weeks!!!!???

It's unbelievable that the water and sewer company is not responsible for this mess.  They did come and blow out pipes but home owner is responsible to the road?  Wow!  Merica'

Forget the shocking $8,000 it's time to get dirty!  Off to Art's rental to save money!  Wish us luck!  The working man can't afford this company or the wait!!!!

I was in the process of removing my vanity in my powder room so that the contactors could install flooring. Little did I know that one of the shut off valves under the sink did not work. Experience taught me not to force, because I could cause more harm than good and the installers were coming to my house later that day. I called Roto Rooter and they set me up with a professional plumber. They came on time and was able to quickly resolve my problem by installing new shut off valves. They also provided me with quotes on other plumbing issues that I was dealing with. I have used them for the last 10 years and I have always been impressed with their service and professionalism.

Jordan (#1964) came out in the evening (9pm) and successfully cleared a clog in my main drain line. He game me some useful tips on how to avoid the problem in the future, but I think that I just have problem pipes (old house). Still, I'm happy to have someone who will make it out here late in the evening.

I had three things I needed the technician to do:  replace the water valves on two toilets and replace the flapper on one toilet.  After two hours of messing around and about twenty trips out to his truck, none of the work had been completed.  After 3 hours, he shows me that he is done.  Both valves, now replaced, were still leaking and the new flapper was still letting water leak into the bowl!  I told him this fact and he ended up working for over 4 hours on a job that should have taken around 45 minutes.  The following day, I realized my toilet was still leaking all over the place and had to have another technician come out to tighten down the toilet tank and get the flapper working correctly.  Practically two whole days wasted completely.  At least the dispatchers on the phone were polite and efficient.

Our technician, Jordon 1964, was a very polite and informative professional worker. He let us know what it was he was doing each step of the way, as well as what it was he was seeing and tips on preventing future problems. I would recommend this person to others were anyone I know ever having an issue with plumbing. Pricing was a flat rate no matter how long it takes - which is good since the drain had to be snaked twice. The kitchen sink clog took about 3 hours to unclog the drain fully (he ran water for about 10 to 15 minutes after each snake was done to be sure it did not back up again) and total price flat rate which was given before any work was done was $299. WIth coupon from online of $40 off it was $259. Compare to BenFranklin Plumbing who tried to charge me 640 I am okay with the Roto Rooter pricing. And again - Jordon was a great technician to have assist me with my home. I would request his return should I ever need anything else fixed in my home in the future.

I called due to a floor drain back-up.  I won't mention any names, but I had to have them there twice. The first guy ran the auger until he hit something.  The water went down, but then he said we will camera the system within the $329 charge.  Cool.  But they did not come as scheduled, and I took off work for 3 hours waiting. Now I don't make what a plumber makes, but it still cost me 3 hours. The drain backed up again, and they came at a later date to camera, and discovered small hair-like roots in the line. They wanted me to hydro-jet for $4200, wow. I refused.  So exactly a week later...floor drain backing up. So I went to Home Depot and rented a 5/8 commercial auger, left water running the entire time and snaked myself.  So far...so good.  I also purchased a foam root killer product at the HD and am giving that a try.  Generally the guys were ok, but I hope the third time is a charm! A wise man once said...if you want something done right, do it yourself!

Jordan was very nice and did a decent job of explaining things regarding our plugged bathtub drain.  The problems are 1) I expressed early on that our family goes to bed early and we didn't want a service person after about 8 PM.  I believe it was about 7:30 when he arrived.  His initial attempt to clear the clog was unsuccessful and to make a long story short it was going on 10 when he left, saying problem was fixed.  2) When I took shower this AM water drained but somewhat  slowly. 3) I just went down to basement and saw the black sludge that comes with clogged drains splattered on the floor, including some clothes I had lying on floor to be washed. Not sure what happened but it seems something has splashed out of the main drainage pipe. 4) He did not put on protective booties until he started his clean up.  Other companies I have used put them on as soon as they came in door.

I plan to call them tomorrow AM and discuss - but didn't want someone here until 10 again tonite.

Matt (#2719) showed up as scheduled (which rarely happens with tradespeople). We are renovating a house that had sat vacant for more than a year and were experiencing some water back-up issues in the basement and one of the exterior downspout outlets.  We discussed the issue and possible solutions recommended by Matt.  He got to work in one area that he suspected might have been the culprit, and after some shop-vac cleaning and running his snake through the system,  Voila!, the blockage was gone and the water flowed freely.  He also inspected another problem downspout that had a minor blockage and was able to free that simply by using his Shop-Vac and a garden hose.  He was personable and polite and represented the company well.  We will def use them again if the need arises.

We had a clog... a bad clog. I thought I fixed it. I plunged the kitchen sink and viola, it drained beautifully, but next I knew the tub was filling with nasty black water. The two are connected in the basement by a 'Y' pipe. Apparently, I pushed the clog down far enough to allow the water from the kitchen sink to flow directly into the tub. Fantastic!

I made a date with Roto Rooter online. That was a perfect option for me. It's not that I mind talking on the phone, but if I can submit a reservation or request for service online, I am an extremely happy camper. Online I was also able to choose the 2-hour time frame for the appointment.

I received a call not long after letting me know the service person was on the way. I scheduled for 1:00 - 3:00 and he was here at 1:30.

He was very professional and congenial. We looked at what was going on and he went to work. It took a little doing, but he got things moving and after he removed all the equipment there was no evidence anyone had been mucking around in the kitchen. Very clean service.

The price was steep, and though I am a fan, I couldn't justify five stars. Who knows, maybe the price is in the normal range for plumbing emergencies. I didn't really mind because I wanted everything fixed, but I must admit I was a bit shocked. Still and all, we   call Roto Rooter when we have this type of issue and will again in the future.

Oh... this was Roto Rooter in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Don't use RotoRooter, do yourself a favor.  Called at 8:30 am this morning, was told someone could be out between 11 and 2.  No one showed.  Calls to and from customer service resulted in statements that 'a technician is not available yet' and 'I don't have any eta'.  They could not even tell me how many customers were before me.  It's now 6:08 and still no one.  I cancelled and have called a local plumber I have used before.  Boo RotoRooter.  If you are backed up, just tell me when I first call so I don't wait ALL DAY for you.  Be honest and don't tell me a time frame if you have no chance of meeting it.  2 thumbs down.  Will NEVER use RotoRooter.

Very grateful - floor drain in the unfinished part of our basement was rapidly backing up on a Saturday night and we were bailing out water in buckets to protect the finished part. They were the only company that could get here that night and arrived at 2am to clear the drain and save what could have been a disaster. Relieved! After contacting are usual plumbers who couldn't come out for at least 3 days, Roto Rooter was able to come out immediately.  They originally set up an appointment for 6p-9p but called to see if they could come at 3p.  The techs were polite, treated me like I knew what I was talking about and not like a silly little woman.  They listened to me and explained all options before proceeding.  Although their prices were a bit higher than we've paid in the past, it was worth it.  They cleared our blockages in the basement drain and ran a camera with me watching.  I was able to see what they were seeing and they answered all my questions.  They found the overall problems and gave tips to prevent this from happening again.

Chris was very knowledgeable and went out of his way to help me understand what he was doing.  Will definitely use them again should the need arise.

Tyler (#2092) did a great job of unclogging our downspout drain! He came yesterday and removed the leaves and already today our garage looked completely dry thanks to this fix! We have a follow up appointment tomorrow for someone to look through the drain with a camera to make sure that no further leaking should occur. Overall really happy with the customer service.  What I appreciate the most is that Tyler told me what the cost would be and gave me a few minutes to figure out if I wanted to move forward.  I like how he didn't pressure me into purchasing the service.

The guy did the job but trashed the house.  I had a huge clog that required the big rig snake to clear it.  It was a rainy day so alot of muddy mess was tracked into the house.  Also the toilet had to be removed to clear the clog.  So you can imagine the mess that was left behind.  I didn't know what to expect.  Should I expect the plumber to clean up???? I don't know...... So yes I am glad I hired him to fix the problem, but I had a SHIT load to clean up.  Cost was to be expected........350.

I definitely appreciated that I was able to call this company and that the plumber came within 45 minutes on Thanksgiving while I had a house full of guests and a basement full of sewage.   The gentleman spent over two hours going through a pipe, taking out tree limbs, but it was not the pipe that we told him was clogged. Our home use to be a three family and had been replumbed when sewers came through, so what was the main is NOT the main anymore.

The man started packing up his stuff, saying there will be no charge because he didn't fix it. When told he had not snaked the pipe in the floor, he said it wasn't worth trying. We said we'd bet him double the cost that it would fix it. He brought the stuff back in, snaked the pipe we told him was the problem and the water drained away. This took less than ten minutes.

Good thing he didn't take the bet. But, he did not properly seal the pipe that he had been working on and it was leaking the next day. A different tech showed up, He got a different cap and fixed the leak that had been caused by the other tech not sealing the pipe properly.

By the way; three weeks later and our pipes are still running freely.

So- First tech- 2 stars.
Second tech- 5 stars.

I cant express how disappointed I am with Roto Rooter. Yesterday I had them come out to clean a storm drain. Once the Technician arrived he kept telling me that I had to pay whether he was successful or not. That was before he even visually looked at the pipe. I thought that was a little odd but signed paper anyway. After multiple times running the snake down the pipe with different cutters and over an hour - he said it couldnt be fixed. I asked if it would help to go the other way in the pipe, seeing that I believed the pipe was clogged toward the other end. He said no, packed up and wanted payment. He said my only option was to dig up the front yard and if I wanted to schedule.
So at this point, I was charged $301 and still had a clogged pipe.
I didnt feel confident with that assessment. So today I called Ken Neyer Plumbing. They came out, went in the other end I told them I believed the clog was. They used a hydro jet system and had it running perfectly within 15 minutes and charged me half what RR did. They even ran a camera in the pipe and recorded the place where the clog was - RR wanted an additional $375 to do the camera..... Now come on. I'm all for businesses making an honest profit however lets be serious.  If I would of listened to RR, i would be digging up my yard
