I manage a busy real estate office, and we always recommend Mr. Electric to our clients who need electrical work in their homes. So when I needed help at my own house, I followed my own advice and called Mr. Electric. Setting the appointment was a breeze with great availability. The next morning, I received a call from the office informing me of the arrival time, and the electrician David and his helper Lindsay were right on time with friendly smiles and shoe covers at the ready. After some of my DIY gone wrong attempts, several switches/outlets in 2 bedrooms were not working properly (a half-hot, an overhead light, and a mystery switch for nothing). David and Lindsay patiently worked through each issue, explained to me what switches worked what items and how they were connected (without talking down to me as a female home owner), and repaired all within 2 hours. When it was time to pay, I was SHOCKED at how affordable this expertise help was! It is so valuable to have a smart electrician on call. Next time, I will skip my DIY attempt and call Mr. Electric and specifically request David and Lindsay--get it done right the first time! Thank you, Mr. Electric, for an outstanding experience!

Horrible experience and I do not recommend. I received a call from their dispatch over an hour after appointment time to tell me they have to reschedule. I requested and received a quote for installation of a a new 200 amp electrical box. They tried to install a 150 amp box and when I called this out I was given push back from tech. After I insisted they install what was quoted or I would take my business elsewhere, they began the work. A supervisor showed up halfway through the installation and while on site he had a heated phone call with a coworker that included fowl language in earshot of my 12 year old niece and 80 year old mother. I also had an exterior light installed and they gave more pushback when I requested where I wanted the switch placed. They left a mess inside my home that included cigarette butts on my floor. After installation I was told an inspection with the city was scheduled for a specific date. When I called  the day before to confirm, they said it had not been scheduled. I missed several days of work because of their incompetence. I have nothing good to say about Mr Electric and do not recommended their services under any circumstance. I have several more upcoming electrical jobs and will take by business elsewhere.

I should have known better after reading some of the other Yelp reviews.  However, I took a chance and scheduled an appointment a couple of days in advance.  I was assured that an electrician would arrive between noon and 2:00 p.m. on the day of my appointment.   At 12:05 p.m., I called just to confirm my appointment.  I was assured that it was still set and they would be here.

However, around 1:30 p.m., they called and said they got caught up on other jobs and would not come after all.  They said they would try to come the next day, but that did not work for my schedule.

I told them I would find a more reliable company to do my work.  I am sick and tired of service providers who overbook, over-promise, and under-deliver!

I called back and asked for contact information for their corporate office.  I was told that this is a franchise and there is a complicated series of steps necessary to reach someone in authority.  I was not surprised.

If you are looking for an unprofessional and unreliable service provider, Mr. Electric is for you.  If not, look elsewhere.

Originally had an appointment one day between 3 and 5 pm. Received a phone call at 4:30pm stating they did not have a technician available and could we reschedule. Rescheduled for two days later between 11 and 1 pm. Never showed up and never received a phone call. Called the office at 1pm and was told the technician was on another call and would be there when he could. I am sorry but my time is important also. I can not wait for someone to come out 2 separate days only for them to blow me off. Apparently they have more work than they need and can afford to give customers empty promises.

Although appointment verified 3 times over 2 days, the tech showed up 45 MIN LATE.  One star for charging $82 each for 120v regular plugs which DID NOT include installation.  I even had to ask tech to install the new plastic wall plate...price gauge, BUYER BEWARE

After having a short in my kitchen light and discovering that it caused problems in my living room I call Mr Electric to help me sort out the issue. Ivan Ray was my technician and he came out and was very knowledgeable whip with a supporting 15 years of experience under his belt he was able to complete the job and rectify my problem pretty quickly and give me quotes for what may be needed in the future if I decide to do more. He was very polite and seems to want to try and give me the best quote he could for pricing.
I was going to have him install a new light fixture but he informed me that it's a $250 install fee.
Now honestly Mr Electric I have a problem with this...
No Mr Electric you might ask me why, and my reasoning is pretty simple and logical....
The new light fixture I need it installed I got it from Home Depot and it was only $50 now I understand the idea of a service but when you charge five times the amount for a simple light fixture to be installed it's really not worth my money getting any more done by your services anymore at least for that task I believe that is way way way too high of a price to ask for such and sometimes all you need is a new light fixture put in. For example it's not that I wouldn't try but I have a disability and it is dangerous for me to get on ladders with bad balance and a $250 light install fee seems substantially more than necessary

I can't say anything negative about this company. Eric who installed our three ceiling fans arrived with face mask and shoe coverings as requested. He was very polite, courteous, and highly professional. He ran into an issue with one of the fans due to a manufacturing defect. While I ran to Lowe's  to get a replacement part, Eric continued to work on the other two fans. After returning from Lowe's he installed it very quickly. He was very patient, and I really appreciate him giving me time to travel to Lowe's. His ability to problem solve on the fly is exceptional. Therefore, I highly recommend Mr. Electric. Ask for Eric specifically. You can't go wrong with him.

I'm so happy that we called Mr. Electric. Our appointment window was between 10am-12pm but the tech, Dave, came a little earlier. He immediately identified the problem and was able to help. He was great and I would definitely use their service again! Thanks Dave!

Dion was the primary technician for my service visit, and he was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. He did good work, offered and explained different options, went out of his way to limit impact to my drywall, made sure I got a discount I qualified for, and answered every question I had.

I asked for his business card so I can specifically request him next time I need electrical work.

I got the full electrical inspection scheduled immediately. Josh S. came and was very professional, wore a mask the entire time, wore booties over his work shoes, and explained every step of the way what was wrong. He even fixed the issues on the spot and got all of the electrical working for no additional charge since there was no rewiring necessary. The wiring in my house was a mess before with no organization. There were tons of extra hot wires and some hot wires that were tied off for no reason rendering the outlet non-functional. I was afraid sections of the house might need rewiring. Luckily Josh was able to come and fix everything and for much less. Thank you so much guys!

I was told on the phone there was no extra charge for weekend service and the electrician would tell me what the problem was and if I did not want to pay the price there would be no charge.  The electrician and I discussed the issue and he told me it would be $154 for him to check it out.  I had a safety inspection the next morning, so I did not feel like I had a choice on a Sunday.  I agreed and he told me 2 breakers and an outlet needed to be replaced.  After about 15 minutes of work and $621 he left.

Lied to and scammed

My electric bills were running high, so I contacted Mr Electric to diagnose and figure out what is causing this.

On 6/6/2018, Mr Electric technician Jonathon Collins came to my home. After looking at a few things, he said I need to replace 2 100 amp main 2 pole breakers. I trusted him as I thought he was an honest professional. I paid $639.49 for this service. Invoice 111580534.

A month later, my electric bill was still way too high. After many phone calls and 2 more visits from Mr. Electric, it was determined that the electric in my home was not the problem. AEP, my electric company, was billing me incorrectly.

The work done by Mr Electric was unnecessary. Not only did I lose $639.49, I wasted my time and took time off of work to deal with this. After many months and lots of stress I have finally sorted this out with AEP.

Bottom line: Some of Mr. Electric's employees are dishonest and will perform unnecessary work in order to make money.

Technician showed up when promised to give me a quote to replace 3 existing light Fixtures. The quoted price was way too high. I had to look elsewhere and got the same work, plus some, for about 1/3 of the price.

Do not use this business if you are value-minded.  The service tech who came out to the office was very professional but the COST!
Ended up spending $1,229.61 to replace 2 ballasts for $247.24 each;
3 fluorescent sockets at $155.91 each ($3.62 at home depot!); and
2 hours of diagnostic residential testing.  Never again!!!
(PEOPLE!  Ballasts online cost $20-$50 at the very most!)
Unbelievable.  Save your money, order the parts and call a handyman to install.

Great guys!
I had a small problem with a 15-amp breaker in my box, but not the kind of problem I could deal with myself (or even knew how to diagnose). They came out and checked the outlets, etc. Then they determined it was a breaker screw that wasn't tight enough (I had changed the breaker myself, and didn't reconnect it properly).

Best part - they did all this, and only charged for a service call! I even got some advice on another circuit I ran that has a faulty GFCI outlet (I wired it wrong!).

Will definitely call again for additional electrical work.

Their price is much more higher than the average electricians in the area. Their work was less than average for sure. We had to move the light switch about 6 inches away from where it is right now and the switch is working but the screws are put in unevenly and the plate is wobbly uneven and there's a hole left just like that. For the amount of money we had to pay for this work, the work was nowhere close to even average quality of work. I would not be using their service again, big mistake. I have attached the pictures here.

I have a 4 way circuit that isn't working in my home, I am at my wits end with it. I called Mr. Electric and was told someone would be coming out to my house between 5-7 pm that day. I waited around with no calls notifying me that they would be running lat. finally at 6:15 I called and was told they were running late but that they would be calling me. I called back at 8:30 and was told that they had tried to call me and when I said I had not received any calls the guy on the phone proceeded to argue with me about getting a call, then it became well your voicemail is full. Funny I do t have any warnings that it's full... needless to say I did not take him up on his offer to reschedule me for the next night. I don't have another night to sit around and wait. If I could give 0 stars I would!

I rarely leave reviews for companies but I thought Mr. Electric deserved to be thanked.

We had our water heater go out a few weeks back and decided to replace it. The water heater company said we needed new wiring to accommodate the new heater and they used Mr. Electric as a sister company.

The service technician was great! He was very knowledgeable and helpful with walking through the service and pricing. They performed the service quickly and were fair with the pricing.

NOW THE IMPORTANT PART. The technician accidentally left two of our circuit breakers off after performing the service. We didn't notice because it was two outlets in our basement that we don't use often.

A few days later we went down to our chest freezer to get some meat out to be thawed only to find it was OFF! After some investigating, we came to realize it was because the two breakers left off were to the freezer and fridge in our basement. The chest freezer held 1/2 of a hog that we had just bought!!!!!!!!!

After a quick call to Mr. Electric, the woman on the phone assured us that she would get in touch with the manager for our area and he would make it right. He called us promptly the next day and after hearing our story REFUNDED US THE ENTIRE COST OF THE JOB!

That level of customer service, timeliness, and doing the right thing regardless of $$ involved shocked me! There are far too many companies these days that would have simply given a customer the run around OR worse claimed the issue to be not their problem

Mr. Electric deserves the HIGHEST praise for the way they handled the situation and they have gotten a customer for life out of it.

Thanks!!!!

Don't know if I can trust this company. Called them for an estimate to have hot tub electric hooked up. Guy showed up and proceeded to tell me how the current system was bad and I had the wrong type of wire. Quoted me over 1000 dollars to do the job. Had 2 other electricians come out and both had told me the wire size was appropriate and if I moved my tub over 1.5 feet I would be within the distance needed for code, so essentially was going to be majorly ripped off by this electrician. By him moving things the way he wanted to, I would have spent an extra 600 dollars in wires.I just want to make people aware that  this place tried  to use my lack of electrical knowledge against me  Felt like someone getting ripped off at the car garage, going for an oil change and getting a new transmission. Glad I went elsewhere to discover that the existing wires were able to run and saved over 1000.00 and was something that could be done by myself.

They work on commission, so they get paid for the work they do and the parts they sell. Honesty tends to slip their mind.

I am not saying I don't recommend them, I am just saying be careful and be alert and make sure you get more than 1 estimate to make sure your not getting unnecessary work done.

Unethical and unprofessional. Had a serious electrical issue in our home (we were getting shocked in our shower) and the electrician who came to check out the issue was not concerned. He stayed for 10 minutes and told us he didn't have a solution and that our best bet was to call someone else. What? Big City Electric ended up spending 5 hours with us finding the issue. We decided to get another quote after finding out that we needed to rewire our second and third floors. Mr. Electric quoted us double what two other companies quoted after spending less than 5 minutes in our home assessing the problem. Stay far away!

We've had Mr Electric out twice in the last 4 months. The technicians were great and very helpful. I can't give 5 stars because everything leading up to the technician was a bit frustrating. When a business opens at 7am, they need to be ready for calls.  When I called right at 7 because I had a situation that I needed taken care of that day, I was put on hold while the representative got their computer up and running. When I finally got taken off hold and explained my situation, I got an appointment time from 11-1. This was great and I asked for a call 20-30 minutes prior to their arrival because I was at work and my dad was going to go let them in. Well, I received a call at 8:30 stating the technician was at my house!  I appreciated the prompt service, but it would have been nice to receive the call ahead of time like I had asked, especially since it was 3 hours earlier than I was told. It all worked out and it ended up being AEP's issue. But I just feel like a little more unnecessary stress was added to an already stressful situation.

Our initial encounter with Mr. Electric was when we lost power after some self-installations of new outlets - it ended up being a tripped breaker and we were unaware that we had a main breaker on the outside of our condo building.  Long story short, they came and charged $158 to literally switch our breaker (they gave us a $50 coupon and we figured if we were doing our own outlet exchanges and that was the least that happened, we would take it and vow to never do electrical work again).

Our second encounter occurred when we lost power in the middle night to half our home and switching the breaker didn't work.  We were excited they were open 24 hours a day (per their website which we later found out is not true), so we set up an appointment.  They replaced our breaker which they informed us was corroded.  Four months later, we're having the same problem.  I call to set up an appointment and they informed us that our work was not under warranty because our busbar had corrosion and that was stated on our invoice.  We were NEVER informed of any exclusion of the warranty on their services.  I asked for a technician to come out and evaluate the breaker and ensure it was not an issue with something that was just fixed four months ago.  The technician came out but refused to look at anything without charging the $158 diagnostic fee.  I asked for a manager to come out which the technician said would occur the next day at 10 am.  After three calls and a technician arriving at 1:30pm, I was informed the manager was in a meeting in Cleveland (we're in Columbus) after being told a manager would come to remedy the situation since we did not agree with paying the diagnostic fee for a service that was just rendered four months ago.

Luckily, the technician, Ivan was great; he communicated with his manager and they agreed to replace our breaker even though there was a problem with our condo's main panel.  I appreciated the fact that even though another issue could have caused the breaker's problem, they replaced it.

The issue with this company isn't the services, it's with the professionalism and integrity.  We were charged $110 after coupon for an electrician to switch our breaker.  We were then told a manager would come to an appointment to resolve an issue and not only was the company over three hours late, the manager wasn't even in the same city.  5 stars to Ivan for great service and being flexible and helping us so quickly, but I would not use this company based on their customer relations.

Tim, our technician, worked tirelessly to complete our job which included installing two ceiling fans and light fixtures where no junction boxes existed.  He was extremely courteous and showed us pictures of the work he did while in the attic.  The attic space was very confined and difficult to maneuver in, making the install anything but routine.

Tim could have easily said the job couldn't be done given the restricted attic access, but he persevered with creativity and did a wonderful job!

The service as for the work being done was excellent, although I do believe it was a little pricey.
I had a ceiling fan replace where a existing fan was and the price for that work I personally thought was extremely high since there was no electrical work involved. Simply removing one and replacing with the new fan. The price advertised was $75 and ended up paying $212 not a good business practice. Roto Rooter should practice truth in advertising.

Mr. Electric is an outstanding service oriented company. The electricians came 3 hours early and introduced themselves before getting started. They began on the outside of the house and methodically went room to room to troubleshoot our unusual electrical problem. They asked questions once they diagnosed the issue, explained what needed to be done to fix it. They also gave us a heads up on possible future issues. Both representatives were friendly yet professional.

I had a very good experience with this company and the technician, Zach.  He arrived promptly, went over all of the services thoroughly and did a great job.  He was very knowledgeable.  When I needed a return visit for some additional services, they were able to get the same technician back out within a day or two.  I would definitely recommend Mr. Electric and Zach to anyone.

Beware of the $75 ceiling installation special. When the electrician arrived, we were told that the total would be nearly $300 because we needed a new box for the fixture, and we were already supplying the fan! Maybe a new box would have been the best thing, but not for $300! This is an item you can get at the hardware story for $5-$10. We had to refuse the service and I installed the fan myself, and it's just fine. By comparison, we just had another company install a new garbage disposal for $285 including a brand new unit, which seems reasonable since it involved both electrical and plumbing work. Mr. Electric might have done a good job but we will never know because of the outrageous charge they were proposing. So watch out for this bait and switch, and don't be afraid to say no once they are in the house.

The installation of 4 exterior replacement fixtures was flawless and reasonably priced (including a $50 off Angie's List coupon) at $290.  My critique has to do with their scheduling frustration.  We booked last Friday, only to be told late in the day (I called them) that their crew was stuck on an emergency job and would not come as scheduled.  I rescheduled for Saturday between 8-10 AM.  At 9:45 AM I called and again was told their crew was stuck on a job; but another technician would be coming in and they would send him between 2 and 4 PM.  Well, I did get a call from I think the President of the company that he was on his way by 1:30PM  As I say once they finally got here the work was good.

I submitted a request for service and estimate to the company web site, and had a scheduled appointment less than an hour later. Tim L. arrived on time, was very polite and professional, and never once complained when installing two ceiling fan/light fixtures that were heavy and awkward.  Tim was clearly competent in his job, made sure I was completely satisfied with the fixtures, cleared away the packaging from the new fans, and cleared away the old fixtures, and made sure the installation areas were clean before he left. I am very satisfied from start to finish with Tim and with the company, and gladly recommend them.

Me. Electric electricians wear shoe covers in your home & they also wear uniforms. They can give an estimate and return promptly to work for you when scheduled. The hours are flexible, as they begin early and work late, not typical 8-5 hours. Scott did a great job! Thanks!

Mr. Electric provides great service! Their technicians are very professional and very knowledgeable. Our technician was Chad and he was nothing short of Awesome! We had Mr. Electric come out to give us a quote to replace our electric panel. The electrician that came to give us the quote was very respectful and professional. He took the time to put covers over his shoes so he wouldn't track anything into our house. He was very thorough when looking at our current panel set up.
We would have been pleased to have Mr. Electric do the service upgrade for us, but the quote they gave us was through the roof.
