Lewandowsky and Son's Heating and Cooling was hired to install a new water heater at our residence in June of 2015 and recommended a new Bradford White electric vented system, claiming it was top of the line. So, $1,700 and 3 1/2 years later the water heater is already leaking.
When I call he seems to have no records on hard, immediately begins talking about how hard the manufacturer is to work with (this coming from the guy that highly recommended this water heater 3 years ago) and wants to come over and get the serial/model number and check it out, we agree and schedule a time, he never shows up. I call the next day and he says oh yea I got busy, sorry. Can we do it tonight? I offer to give him the serial/model number and email over some photos. He wants to see it in person, so we again agree and ask what time? And are treated like this is an inconvenience and he tells me he will call when he is on his way home, I explain we will have to leave work so setting up a more specific time would be nice so we can make arrangements. He then informs me that he has no obligation, his obligation ended when he completed the job of installing it and I can call another plumber. Explains I have been rude since the get-go. Um no sir, we have a $1700 water heater leaking that you installed, you started this conversation by telling me how hard the manufacturer is to work with, then don't show up and now you tell me I have an attitude. He tells me to call someone else and hangs up on me.
I then call the manufacturer directly, they are MUCH more helpful but do explain to me that the highly recommended water heater he installed in June of 2015 was obsolete as of April of 2015, due efficiency standards. Bradford White also informs me, they will only deal with Bradford White licensed contractors (which this contractor is not one) and a Bradford White Wholesaler to replace the product. So ultimately we get to pay for a new plumber because the warranty doesn't cover service (just parts); and because the model is and has been obsolete since he sold it to us (with no explanation of any of this), in order to replace it we will have to pay to upcharge to the newer model as well.
My recommendation is to find yourself a contractor who stands by the products they are selling and the services they perform, shows up to scheduled appointments, and doesn't hang up on you. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!
