Description

Disabled Veteran / Family Owned and Operated. Serving the Tri State Since 1885. We accept all major credit cards and financing available.

HISTORY

Established in 1885.
Bill's son Jack joined the firm after WWII. He brought with him an engineering degree from Tri-State College, as well as modern ideas and an increased emphasis on larger commercial projects. One innovation Jack introduced was 2-way radios in the vehicles - something he learned as a navigator on a B-24 bomber. Prominent projects during this time included: The 580 Building The Federal Reserve Building Riverfront Stadium The original Cincinnati Convention Center Numerous projects at the old Norwood G.M. Plant The Company outgrew the Harrison office on Harrison Avenue, despite buying all of the property around it, so the company moved to its current facility on Glenway Avenue in 1960. Also, Geiler expanded into air conditioning, process piping and refrigeration. The 1980's saw Jack's sons - Reid, Steve and Dave - enter the business as well as some tough times in the industry. Geiler survived because its old customers knew that they could count on The Geiler Company

Purchased a Groupon for a whole house plumbing inspection and my husband took off work for the appointmnet. No one from Geiler showed up nor called. I left a voicemail message at 5 pm on Friday, stating I wanted a return call and I didn't care that it was a weekend, The wekkend tech returned my call and said he'd be out on Sat. Then received a call on Sat saying the company did not know what had happened on Friday but they would not service the call on a weekend. I asked for the person making that decisioin to please call me on Monday. By 11:15 am on Monday I had not heard anything, so I called them. I was then told they had a wrong number for me and had tried calling it several times on Friday. She said they'd be happy to reschedule the appt. I again reminded her that my husband had taken off work specifically for the missed appt and while I understand that telephone numbers can be transposed I felt like the error was their responsisbilyt but they were expecting us to make all the concessions. She then offered to connect me to the decision maker (whom I had requested call me in the first place) I got his voicemail, so I left a message requesting a call back. He callled back and his first statement was did I have a ? about a groupon?? Obviously he didn't pay much attention to my message. When I explained the issue he told me that they had a wrong phone number and they didn't know whether they took it down wrong or I gave it to them wrong!!! Their last appt. time is 2-4, never once did anyone ask how late would we need an appt to be. We could have been there by 4 but not by 2!! So I said if I could get my money back for my groupon I would just take my business elsewhere. He said oh you can do that, just call Groupon. So I told him that's what I would do and I would do business with a company that knows how to behave professionally!! Would not reccommend this company to anyone!!!!

I've had a great experience with Geiler in years past with their servicing of my A/C and heating. However, I had them out to look at my sink and felt railroaded by an overpriced faucet. I've reached out to my regular point of contact there, with no luck thus far. The installation was a little half baked (allegedly clear caulk has dried very noticeably) and if I don't end up hearing back from my attempts to contact them directly, they will lose my business permanently--a real shame, as this is the first negative experience I've had with them.

Our condo's air conditioning broke at the beginning of the July heat wave, so we were desperate to get it fixed. I called a couple places, but Geiler had the lowest come check it out fee ($69) and was able to come the next morning. They called ahead and the technician arrived well within the window of time they had estimated.

Our technician was quiet at first, but I made an effort to ask about the problem and what he was doing, and then he was very willing to explain things to me. He fixed the A/C within 45 min, then after I mentioned a lesser problem, he spent another 45 min checking freon levels, thermostat, etc. Very thorough. He found another issue and fixed it, and he made some cost-savings recommendations for the future (if we need to replace the unit). He did take a brief smoke break while he was working outside, but I kept track of the time and did not feel I was charged for it. The overall price for the repair was quite reasonable.

The next day I was worried that the A/C wasn't actually fixed because our rooms were still a bit warm, so I called Geiler and they relayed my message to the technician. He called me back and explained the issue -- basically the A/C needed a catch-up day, and with the heat wave, there was only so much it could do anyway. He saved me the expense of another trip and diagnostic, so I was happy with that too. For several weeks now, the A/C has been working well and keeping us as cool as it it can amidst these 90+ degree temps.

In short, I felt Geiler was professional, delivered quality workmanship, and had my best interests in mind.

Not a customer... will never be a customer. Our A/C hasn't been blowing cold air for the past 3 days (maybe longer but haven't had to turn the A/C on until now). Regardless, i called to schedule for a tech visit to do a A/C Inspection/Tune-Up. *i was going to use a groupon for this service.* I had a voice message this morning stating that they needed to reschedule my service call because they had a job that required a technician all-day. I called them back and they said they would need to reschedule and i told them if they were going to change it, i just wanted to cancel it. No rebuttle or hesitation, the person i spoke with was happy to cancel it and said that the groupon deal would not necassarily resolve the issue of the A/C blowing cold air. Which is fine... but if i am paying for a service and want an inspection done....to tell me what issues the A/C has... then i expect the original service call to be fulfilled. I get it that my $39.00 Groupon deal which could have ultimately turned into me having service work, Freon recharge, or entirely replacing my A/C unit with a more energy efficient unit, didn't mean anything because the all day service job/install paid more than my groupon deal. I would have been a paying customer and would have happily wrote a nice review afterwards on here...instead, i wouldn't recommend you to anyone and if ever asked, i would point friends, family members, and neighbors to a different company if that is what you consider good customer service.

Purchased a Living Social Deal for a camera inspection of sewer system $60.00. (deal claims normally $165.00 charge).  Technician came in and cracked pvc pipe and cap on clean out pipe in several places. (do you know how hard you have to hit a pvc pipe to crake it in 3 places?) Technician then called me to basement to tell me he broke the pipe in several places opening the clean out cap and now a repair was needed!  The damage he had just done would need to be repaired and would  cost me above and beyond the camera call because previous plumber may have got some glue on the cap. (never got a price but told me he would have to go get parts and it would not cost me millions)  First of all should have called me down when the cap was stuck to ASK me if I wanted him to proceed.  I told him I did not want him to fix I would call my plumber and take up with Geiler Company.
On to the sewer inspection...what a rip off.  Technician ran the camera and it stopped about 45 feet in and then gave me a guesstimate that something was wrong and said I would need to pay for additional equipment to get the true estimate of any work needed. Ok so how can I determine if they come out with additional equipment I will have and accurate assessment of my sewer?
Although I expected a biased estimate from this company, I did not expect that the inspection would only tell me I needed to spend additional money to get a complete estimate of any work which I might wish to contract for. I talked to Terry and he also was blaming glue which MAY HAVE dripped on the cap I asked him to have his plumber bring the cap back to my property.  He stated they did not do the deals as a bait and switch ...I said to him that is exactly what this deal was a bait and switch AND doing additional damage to my home while they were here and looking to charge me for a repair is an interesting way to get business also.  No sympathy or responsibility from Geiler. I asked him am I supposed to expect or anticipate Geiler or any other contractor to step into my home and do damage and then expect me to pay for it?  I do not think so. This technician was in a hurry , did not bother to spray a lubricant on the cap, used access force and cracked my pipe which now has to be repaired and guess what I was not about to pay Geiler to repair.
I am sure plumbing companies often times will provide video inspections super cheap, to sell a large excavation job and I will always get a second opinion on a major job when dealing with a new contractor.... but this is not acceptable to pay for an incomplete inspection.  Buyer beware of Living Social Deals and especially camera inspection from Geiler  Company because unless your entire sewer is clear you will know little more than when they hit your front door when they leave and you will be out money you could put toward a legitimate camera inspection with the goal of finding out the condition of your sewers.

Horrible service. We purchase a service in advance. The company has called 4 times to reschedule the service. Every time with a new excuse. Highly recommend going with a smaller company or a different alternative. Its sad you see company turn big and they can keep their boat afloat.

I had Geiler hook up my natural gas grill to the gas line on my deck. The grill connector was 3/8 and my gas line is 1/2 and I needed a reducer to hook it up. Instead of doing myself I decided to have Geiler install it I figured I would pay a little more than doing it myself but did not expect to pay $175. Totally ripped off. I should have asked what the cost was going to be before he started. I just noticed on the receipt that the installer listed that he was here from 10am till 12 pm. He was gone before 10:45 and that included him going to get the reducer.

A terrible customer service guarantee a terrible business. STAY AWAY!!!
If you run into problems, the resolution is your fault or you are screwed. You can pay more and use them for other services.

If I haven't made this clear enough. If you are going to managing the entire process, making sure they put done the right appointment, being contacted to reschedule for couple times, making sure to follow them while they are doing their jobs, you might as well learn to do it yourself.

$50 dollars for 5 minutes job for A/C tune up on an A/C unit that is brand new, anyone got a job better than that?

Geiler has been out twice recently for some plumbing issues in my old home. Each time they were out quickly and were really informative in answering my many, many questions. The employees I've interacted with have been very friendly and knowledgeable. I'm happy with the service and would definitely use them again.

I'm not one to write reviews normally so it takes an extremely great (or bad) experience to move me to do so.  Since moving to the area in August 2012, I have used Geiler exclusively for seasonal HVAC tune-ups and service calls for intermittent issues with our furnaces.  I must say, and this is no exaggeration, the best contractor experiences I've ever had have been with Geiler!  Brad and Tim have been punctual, friendly, very knowledgeable and trustworthy.  The issues with our furnaces are not easily diagnosed and they were honest about the issues.  They helped brainstorm solutions and suggested alternatives.  Because there haven't been specific problems, it would be easy to suggest costly fixes which may not result in any improvement.  They have never suggested anything of the sort - just straightforward, honest representatives who go out of their way to help.  I've been very impressed with Geiler and have recommended them to numerous people.  I highly recommend Geiler!

My AC went out over the weekend. My preferred repairman was not available so I called Geiler. The only positive is that I called Saturday at 8:00am and he came out by 1:00pm.

He told me that me freon was leaking but he couldn't see where from or how much because the lines were frozen. Told me that he doesn't need to check that I just need to replace the unit because refilling the freon alone would be $1000. The charge for diagnosing was $89. At a minimum, he could have offered to come back when they were thawed so I actually had a proper diagnosis.

I waited or my normal repair to look at it a few days later and he was able to fix it for $400.

On Thursday, my toilet clogged. I made an appointment for a service call for Friday morning at 0800.

Before the technician arrived, the issue resolved itself and the toilet flushed fine. However, since my house was built in the 1950's, I thought it would be helpful to have him look at it anyway in case it might be a recurring issue.

The technician tested the toilet. He mentioned that with age, some of the features have become blocked with calcium deposits-and that I should begin to consider replacing the toilet, but it wasn't necessary to do during his visit.

Geiler has replaced a different toilet in my home with one I purchased on my own several years ago. I asked about any that they recommended. It turns out that they recommend one that is taller, has a larger drain hole than typically offered at hardware stores. These are things I wouldn't have considered on my own, but are definitely important.

I definitely felt that the visit was helpful, and that Geiler is a great service company. I have used them over the last ten years and will continue to in the future!

First off, I will say if you need a boiler, heater, or HVAC system repaired, avoid these Geiler crooks and call ADCO at (513) 471-3390.  We're a small business providing quality residential apartments for 13 years, and have used ADCO throughout with high quality, timely service at low fees.  The reason I am writing this review is we called Geiler for after-hours service on our boiler that provides heat for our 6 tenants, who were left in the cold with no other options.  Geiler technician, Chris, took the call and said he could be there in an hour to get the boiler valve replaced and up and running.  I asked him how much it would cost to do this service, and he said $509 after hours or in the low $400s during regular hours.  We opted for the regular hours service the next day, and the bill came back to be over $1700.  This included their serviceman charging us $100 per hour for fetching parts for 2-3 hours.  This was a job ADCO quoted for $1000, by the way.  After several calls over the next few weeks were not returned and being blown off and badgered by the phone receptionist, I was finally able to talk with the service manager and the engineering manager.  They claimed they didn't have an after-hours technician named Chris, and they wouldn't give after-hours work quotes prior to doing the work, even though I had written down both of these details of the call when it happened - typical practices of scheister, fly-by-night types of outfits with poor customer service.  These are the facts that I believe any other customer should consider and be aware of, and again, I will highly recommend calling ADCO at (513) 471-3390.  We will not be using Geiler again.

We have used Geiler twice in 14 years for some pretty serious plumbing issues.  Believe it or not, Matt, a master plumber at Geiler did both of our jobs for us (which says something about the company if their employees stick around).  in 2003, they replaced old clay pipes that had broken and developed roots throughout.  They dug down 10-12 feet, and replaced the full line from our house to the street.  Not something a new homeowner wanted to deal with, but Geiler was honest and the work was done right.  Never had a problem after that.

Until, we moved!  I thought we had paid our dues in our first home, and our new home was new construction.  While very unlikely to get roots in PVC pipes, some shoddy work by the builder, and boom, same problem, all over again 14 years later!  Once again, Geiler to the rescue.  Matt is an awesome plumber and knows his stuff.  He prioritized our work (we had limited use of water in our house otherwise) and got the job done quickly, with quality work.  He provided a full write-up so we could take it to the builder to try and get some recourse.  I highly recommend!

Scheduled an appointment to replace an aging but still functional water heater approximately ten days in advance.  Received a courtesy call from the company the evening before reminding me of the appointment and the time at which I could expect the plumber (Josh) to arrive.  Josh arrived on time and completed the installation in just under the estimated time I was given when scheduling the service.  The job required re-routing both the gas and water lines, which Josh handled with ease.  He was prompt, efficient, very friendly and highly professional.  Upon completion of the work, Josh took the time to answer all of my questions and explained the operation of the water heater in great detail and in layman's terminology.  A true professional.  Could not have expected more or been more pleased with his service.  The next time I need a plumber, be assured that I will be calling Geiler and asking for Josh!
