G and R plumbing was very rude when my bf called them to replace a hot water heater. They said that's what you get when you try and save a buck. I would never use them ever!

Great job, very prompt, showed up within 3 hours as promised. Then they price gouged me. 15 minutes of work, a $5 pvc elbow $470. Thanks, but I'll check elsewhere next time. I didn't read the reviews prior to calling these guys, but I wish I had. He commented on our cars (we have two nice cars), so I totally believe he jacked up the price. Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought the charges would be that much....so I never asked up front. Buyer beware.

Randy from G&R plumbing charges outrageous prices. He feel he took advantage of my 80 year old mother. He charged her over $141.00 to fix a handle on her toilet. I was out of the state or I would have fixed it in 5 minutes after buying the $5.00 part.

She could have bought a new toilet for that price. I told her to never call him again and to also warn her friends.

This is not the first time I have heard that he overcharges people.

I told my mother to never call this man again and to warn her friends as well.

DO NOT CALL THESE THEIVES!  I would never have called them if I would have read all the negative reviews first.   I made an appointment with them, took the day off and waited.  Nobody showed up or called.  I don't mind paying extra to get something done but when they don't show or call back, that is just horrible business and I don't have time for that.  I'm going to spend the next few hours trying to save others from what I went through.  This is why I have lost all my faith in America.  Nobody will do anything for the next guy.   I can replace the toilets and showers myself but I didn't want to take the time to do it.  If I would have known they weren't going to show up I could have already done it myself.  I tried to keep America working but not anymore.  Let the country collapse and let China take over.  I don't care anymore.  There is nothing good left in this country.  G&R Plumbing is just an example of what this country is all about.  A total failure!

On January 23, 2012 at 5:30pm EST I contacted G&R Plumbing because I was having problems with my hot water heater and main shut off valve in my condo. I needed my main shut off valve replaced because it broke when I shut off the water and I could not turn my water back on. I also wanted my hot water heater looked at to see why my water was not staying hot.
I spoke to a guy named Randy and informed him of the situation. He informed me that he could be out on Thursday January 24, 2013 between 11-12. On January 24, I received a phone call stating that he would be there at 12 noon.
I was not able to be home for Randy but my next door neighbor was at my residence the entire time Randy was present. Randy was on time, and I greatly appreciated it; However, the shock came when he was finished and I had to pay the bill. My total bill came to $373.61. I was outraged. I wanted to yell and haggle more with the pricing, and told him I did not appreciate being GROSSLY over charged, but I was at work.
I was charged $110 just for him to look at the heating elements and tell me that they were fine and nothing was wrong. All randy did was basically tighten a couple screws that were lose and that solved the problem.
I was charged $165.00 a value rate for the replacement of a main shut off valve, even though Home Depot and Lowe's sells the valve for about $50.00.....This is a $115.00 mark up.
I was charged $110.11 to replace a watch line on top of the hot water heater. The watch connector line from Home Depot or Lowes is $12.47 for the copper line fitting for my size pipe and model water heater......Randy gave me a markup of $97.64.
The total I would have spent would have been about $62.47 plus installation about $100-$150.00 dollars. This is $223.00 savings.
After arriving home, I looked at the bill and contacted 3 additional plumbing companies. For their reputation I will not release the names of the companies, but my neighbor was present during all 3 phone calls. One company would have charged me a total of $225.17. A second company would have charged me $175.58. The third and final company would have charged me $235.28,,,all of which are more comparable than $373.61.
Though I appreciate Randy attending to me when he was able, I AM APPAULED AT THE FINAL COST. A cost which should have been significantly lowered. I do not recommend this company to anyone, and do not recommend his services again,,,,for I am one dissatisfied customer. If I wanted to be taken to the cleaners, I would have walked myself through a dry cleaner store

This company has bad business practices. They claimed they fixed my leaking toilet and guaranteed it for 30 days. When it started leaking again in few hours, I called to have them come back and they claimed I must have sat on the toilet too hard and broken it, which is strange since it had not been used. They then said the problem was not fixable. A different plumber I called out was shocked to see the G & R fix was a wax seal inside the tank, which was no fix at all. The real fix was replacing a part, something the plumber at G & R could not figure out. Save yourself aggravation and find a different plumber.

G&R was called by my 88 year old mother, to come out due to her toilet not flushing fully.  Randy (owner?) ran service call, charged her $159.50.  Then told her her toilet was broken and removed and replaced with Mansfield 2 - piece toilet that retails for about $150.  He charged her $675 installed.  Then, claimed to have rebuilt the copper flange under the toilet and charged $295.  Total bill including tax to replace a lower cost toilet came to $1208.60.  The repair took approximately 1 hour.  He did not give her an estimate before doing the repair.  When called about it, he responded angrily, saying he's been in business 30 years.  He offered no remedy.  Avoid this company.

By the recommendation of a neighbor, we had four issues we wanted addressed by G&R. We had poor water pressure, two utility drains had had leaks and our water heater was not hot enough. 1&2) The water leaks in the utility sinks seemed to have disappeared since I looked at them a couple of weeks prior. 3)Per Adam, he adjusted the water pressure down to 80 psi as it was actually too high. Strangely enough, the internal water pressure did visually increase. Not sure what happened there. I am not sure if his adjustment just allowed the water to flow? I'm not sure but we now had normal water pressure. 4) Adam, the apprentice (by our request and the advisement of Randy) adjusted the water heater temperature up past the 125F (even though we only get 105F at the tap).  That helped as in 10 minutes it was noticeably warmer.  It was now at 125F.
Randy recommended we replace the expansion tank as they typically only  last 5 years and he said ours was bad. For $280, he would replace the tank. I didn't second guess it and said okay. I understand they need to be paid for something. It took them less than 10 minutes to get the tank and replace it. As my wife was getting them a check, I was surprised to learn that the visit was $630! The trip fee of $165 is NOT waived even though they did true work! The $280 was the price just for the tank, plus the labor. We later found that this a $40 part at any plumbing or home supply. Per Randy, They are all the same and only last 5 years.
Randy kept selling saying he does a lot of work in these upscale neighborhoods. He wanted to sell us a water treatment system, but he could not get due to lack of supply. All he was doing was looking for a way to make more money!
Two days later, we had no hot water. I called up and spoke with Adam as he was on call for Saturday work. He said that it would likely need a new water heater costing $1400 to $2400. We asked if the service call charge would be waived. He said No.

I called a new plumber! He came out and reset the water heater. We have hot water now. No charge!

Never again will I use G&R!

Randy came to our office and tightened a faucet in our kitchen and adjusted the water flow in our woman's restroom.  He charged a $249 service call which did not go towards anything.  He didn't use any parts for either repair but charged $385 to tighten the faucet that I could have done in 15 minutes if I had the tool.  He charged $149 to turn the water level adjustment in the toilet tank.  Total bill was $837.81 for less than one hour work and not parts.  DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY
