Reviews
Mark gave me a price on a furnace and a/c. He said it was comparable to what I had a 13 Seer a/c. I found out after he left on the internet that 13 Seer a/c are not to be sold in 2023, that it needs to be a 14 Seer or better. I called him the next morning, but he convinced me this would be fine. Plus, he didn't want to give me a senior discount.
We called Atlas Butler during a cold night when our furnace went out. They sent a tech late at night and before he even looked at the unit he said I know what's wrong with it and shoved a camera in to find what he called a crack in the heat exchange without diagnosing the actual issue. He handed me a piece of paper that basically said if I turned it back I would be risking the lives of me and my family. He then sent a sales rep out within 30min to our house to sell us a new system. The sales rep was really nice at first and gave us 3 options. All 3 were quite expensive, $16-$22k with different warranty lengths. I signed up for the mid range unit to be installed next day and then realized this was nuts so I cancelled and said I needed time to do research. This got Mike (the sales rep) pretty heated and he called me. I asked if he would have his family members do research on buying a new car or if he would just have them buy from the first person he talks to and he said Good day sir as if to hang up on me, but he didnt and continued to do the sales pitch angrily basically telling me that my research was going to be invalid and they were the ONLY option in town. As you can see from the multiple reviews of this company they are the WORST option in town. My research turned up this:
Atlas units are a sub brand of carrier that come with no warranty and then Atlas applies their own warranty. This brand is made for throwaway units, not high quality.
Atlas uses this scare tactic with nearly everyone they visit to sell units.
Atlas staff are only friendly if you are buying a system from them, otherwise they are rude and not helpful. NEVER CALL THEM FOR A SERVICE CALL NO MATTER HOW DESPERATE YOU ARE.
Atlas trains their staff to look specifically for hairline cracks in heat exchanges to take pics to scare the homeowners. The tech even told me about this with some training in Vegas or by people from Vegas who train them to first look for cracks and ignore the issue if a crack is found. The crack was not a crack btw, verified by multiple other techs with over 30 years experience.
The next day I had multiple technicians come out and diagnose the issue, it was a pressure sense ($40 part) and it fired right up. They ALL measured the CO due to the report that the heat exchange may be cracked, 1ppm was the reading on all of their $1000 devices and all of them said the unit would keep running just fine without risk to my family. We decided since the unit was 18 years old and did lack at cooling in the summer it was probably the best time to buy anyways and after doing my research and having 5 different companies come out for quotes. We ended up with a beautiful Trane system that was above and beyond what ATLAS offered in their $22k package and we paid less than $16K for all of it, including some pretty sweet air filtration upgrades that weren't even options at ATLAS.
If you have read this far you hopefully know by now not to call them.

Despise this company for all the reasons already mentioned. And the worst thing of all is their commercials! They are incredibly annoying to the point this is the last company I would ever call based on that alone! Whoever told them this was a good idea should be fired.

My hubs called them bc our air stopped working. He called them to come out and take a look. The technician stated that the capacitor went out but there was nothing he could do bc our system is a 3rd generation model and needs to be replaced. He called a sales person out who tried to sell us a 20k system stating they could install it the next day.
We called our home warranty to see if this would be something that was covered and to get a 2nd opinion. They sent a technician out from a different company and he replaced the capacitor within 15min and our air has been working better than it has all summer. It only cost us $100 bucks vs 20k.

SHYSTERS! RUN AWAY! The best you can say about A-B is, they are fast and responsive to service calls. But, their HVAC service techs are trained to use scare tactics to prompt new equipment sale. Their sales people are trained to quote absurdly high prices. AB told us our furnace heat exchanger was discolored and could crack without warning (furnace they sold us 12 years ago with 20 year heat exchanger warranty, private labeled cheapo York unit).
They quoted $19,000 to install their own brand furnace and A/C combination. When I questioned this number compared to another supplier's quote, they reduced that to $10,100...wait, $8,900 discount?!?! Huh?
I used another company (West Jefferson) referred by a friend who installed a brand name system of better specs for $2,900 less than AB (furnace + AC). The installer showed me the heat exchanger on the old system, and there is nothing wrong with it. Avoid Atlas Butler, they exaggerate problems to try and sell you new equipment and then quote ridiculously high prices. (Their plumbing department is useless and worse than the HVAC, on a different call they came out and want to chit chat and never fixed our problem, a simple drain issue.) After more than 10 years of this nonsense, we are done with Atlas Butler, never again!

Unfortunately my experience is just like everyone that's commented. Very, very fast to respond to a service request. Tech comes out and in 10 minutes tells you your furnace is falling apart and takes a picture of heavens knows what to bolster his story. They then proceed to explain your unit needs to be completely replaced (mine was only 10 years old). This is immediately followed by sending out a sales person who then takes 90 minutes putting together your available options and telling you your unit isn't sized correctly for your house or you need updated duct work to maximize the system. I couldn't believe this person was trying to replace both my furnace and air-conditioner when only my furnace needed repaired. Hard-pressure sales tactics for a unit that has their brand name slapped on it. Fortunately spring is here and the weather is scheduled to warm up in the next few days so I will have time to get a reputable company out and do a proper assessment. If my unit does need replacing, so be it but I will at least feel like someone has taken the time to properly diagnose the issue and providing me with options for repair or replacement.
These employees of Atlas Butler were sadly trying to take advantage of my wife and I, in our cold house, with wild claims and bogus predictions to get us to buy a new furnace that WE DID NOT NEED!!! -Inherently suggesting that this is the way they were trained:
My furnace went out on December 23, the day of the crazy cold storm. I cannot tell how excited I was to find a company with a technician available to come to service our non-working furnace. Atlas Butler sent a technician who was very knowledgable and proceeded to check and explain what was going on. After some tests he determined that the problem was the gas valve. He explained that they do not carry those on the truck and that the parts supplier in town was no longer open. He recommended that we buy a new furnace as he did not know what else might be wrong with my 11 year old high efficiency furnace. He did not know how much that new furnace would cost. Amazingly, he could get one of his estimators there in short order, despite the crazy cold weather. The estimator came and proceeded to calculate the size furnace we would need and decided the same size would be appropriate. He then quoted an astronomical number, which he revised on our balking, revised again and then again. I refused the new furnace offer. On Tuesday, 5 days, when the supply house was open, we had a tech from another company come and install a new gas valve, (for $400.00 lower than the Atlas Butler part quote) and the unit is working great.

Do not use this business for plumbing!!
The plumber that was sent to us, he did not appear to know what he was doing.
He was to clean out our main drain.
He then ended up telling us he needed to pull one of our toilets but but it would flood our house!
This was after he already had us flush both toilets and they flowed onto the floors.
He then told us that since we are on a concrete slab, they wold need to dig up our floors!!!
What???
This person is not a plumber... but it gets even better!!'my husband showered and his shower backed up and the guest bathroom flooded!!!
I would not recommend the plumbing at all!! We paid over $400.00 for this nightmare.
A different tech is coming today and it better not cost one cent!!!!!
Out furnace was not working properly so we called to have one of their technicians come look at it. He said we need to replace the whole unit and it would cost $8k. We called another company to get a second opinion and the air filter just needed replace. Our furnace is working just fine now. Either had a complete idiot for a technician or they just try to scam people. Either horrible company and will never be using again.

Is there a 0 rating? DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They quoted a leak check, adding refrigerant, and overall check at $887 without a membership. $887!!! It's been two days since they added the Freon and the ac unit almost isn't cooling at all- there is a leak in the outdoor line set and BEFORE they added the Freon it was still cooling!!! I'm so pissed at being suckered to A YEARS long membership. The leak check they did was also bullshit- they didn't check the outdoor line set really- they took my word on it that I had another guy come look at it earlier. The other guy used a shovel and DUG to find the leak. They didn't do sh*t except use the inspection wand ABOVE THE SOIL just where the lineset goes into the soil.
They were responsive but NOBODY mentioned cost or the service agreement that you're basically FORCED TO SIGN- for a minimal length of a YEAR. Come to think of it let's do some math:
Cost of inspection/Freon add without service agreement- $887.00
Cost of inspection/Freon add *with service agreement at the middle/$23.95 a month membership- $471.00 (paid at the time of the service) + $288(annual membership) = $759!!!! But apparently they give you discounts on repairs and things but you STILL have to pay for the actual repairs.
They ITEMIZE EVERYTHING to different levels end costs but everything is very overpriced. I don't need to see a photo and profile of the repair person!!! Also the actual cost of everything service is broken down on page in a book. The repair guy said it's all online but NO IT ISNT. It's not available on the website. Or maybe it is, hidden away in some confusing corner.

We used AB to do regular maintenance on our AC and Furnace for 10 years under their maintenance program. Everything went well until our furnace turned 10 years old, when the maintenance technician said he'd found a problem and the furnace had to be replaced. AB shut off the gas to our furnace and would not service it again unless we agreed to replace the unit.
Not wanting to shell out $7-10K for a new furnace, I got two second opinions. Both told us the existing furnace was fine. No repairs or replacement were needed.
I called AB to cancel my maintenance agreement. They forced me to pay the remaining balance of the contract, even though they would not honor it unless I replaced the furnace.
Since then, I've heard others tell the same story. I cannot recommend Atlas Butler.
For those interested in hiring a plumber for any home plumbing projects, Atlas Butler is now in the plumbing business.
However, they will charge you $89 to come to your home and give you an estimate.
Odd way to treat potential new customers
My mother in-law, who is 91 years old, recently had a service call for her furnace which she does every year before winter. I happened to call and check in on her and she was very upset. I said what is wrong? She said there was a technician there who said she needed a new furnace immediately and that the house could burn down because the furnace is over heating! I said to her don't do anything until i get there. I walked in to find a sales rep on his computer ready to sign her up for a $5000 furnace replacement. I looked at him in astonishment. I asked him has anyone contacted her relatives because she is elderly. He said they had tried which was not true. I am thinking end of the year quotas, guerrilla sales tactics on an old women. I was furious and asked him to pack up his things and leave. He left with a sheepish look about him. I went to check the furnace and they had disabled it, pulled parts off of it and shut it off. They were basically forcing her to buy a new one by shutting off the heat. Are you freaking kidding me? I called the technician and told him to get back here and replace the parts he ripped off and get it running again. He kindly said I can't do that because the furnace is dangerous and could over heat and cause a fire. Again I said get back here and put it back to the way it was when he got here. He finally said I have to replace a part which I broke because I thought she was buying a new furnace. The nerve of this company (Atlas Butler). Taking advantage of an elderly woman with scare tactics. I had a second opinion with Buckeye Cooling and Heating and they tell me the furnace is fine. I told him about the Atlas Butler situation and he just laughed. He had heard the stories before.
Atlas Butler, I don't know what you have built your company off of. But it definitely is not honesty. You should be ashamed of yourselves.
Everyone please beware of Atlas Butler tactics.

Price gouging, high pressure scare tactics. Their new extended service contract is not a good buy $ per $. Almost ten years later Atlas Butler never paid any of the bill for damaged ceiling repairs one of their technicians caused. The tech thought a smoke detector was a carbon monoxide detector and did a lot of damage trying to pry it off with a wrench. Shows how skilled Atlas Butler's techs are. Had some plumbing issues a week ago with a toilet. Atlas Butler's techs said go to a place like Lowe's and buy a new toilet and they would install. (No mention they even sold toilets.) When Atlas Butler's totaled their bill it was out of sight - more price gouging. Alas Butler's excuse.....I bought my own toilet even though their techs told me to do so. You learn from your mistakes. Never again.

Our AC wasn't working right, and after we called several companies Atlas Butler was able to come out the soonest. I am going back and forth on exactly how many stars I should leave but I settled on 3. Here's why...
We paid the $89 trip/diagnostic fee. Our repairman diagnosed the problem but told us it would be $499 to replace the capacitor. This was an IMMEDIATE red flag. Typically this repair would run $150ish. So we kindly declined the repair (happy to pay the $89 diagnostic fee) and would purchase the $13 part and replace it ourselves. He said they they would have to make him charge something for his time, so he would have to charge a Level 0 repair fee. And that the $89 was just for the trip, not a diagnosis (which is not the truth). My husband said okay, but I immediately questioned it because he did not repair anything. He didn't even have to take apart or put the ac unit back together because my husband did that. We ended up paying the fee, but I called customer service right away because it didn't seem right. They confirmed the $89 includes the diagnostic and a manager would call me back. I got a call from the manager the next day. The conversation went really well- I feel like my voice was heard and at the end of it, the manager agreed to refund the $69 extra fee that we were charged.
Overall I feel like the manager handled my concern extremely well. HOWEVER if I wouldn't have questioned the extra fee and called, we would have been out an extra $69. I should be able to trust a company to not take advantage of its customers and for that reason, my rating is 3 stars.
Justin from Atlas Butler was friendly, professional, and seemed to care about his work. Water heater quote was less than two others received and they were on site the next morning to install. Very satisfied.

What a joke. Paid thousands and the furnace doesn't work the next day. Contacting the state. Their license should be revoked.

I just moved into a new home and the previous owners were great in keeping record of all repairs. They used Atlas Butler for all of their repairs and even had a water heater installed (it has the Atlas Butler label on it still).
Upon inspection of my home the inspector notified me that the Water heater was installed improperly and there is a big gas leak that is dangerous and would need to be address. He explained how the materials used were not to code and that was the reason for the leak. The water heater itself is still in good condition.
After speaking with two customer service representatives, neither could offer any help and explained that the warranty to the water heater expired. This is not a matter of the product purchased but rather the poor quality of work. I am 6 months pregnant and have a gas leak they are not willing to stand by their work.
Not only will I never use Atlas Butler I will make sure everyone I know hears about the terrible code of ethics that they have. I also will contact the Ohio license bureau. Who knows how many water heater or other equipment they had repaired/installed could have been done this poorly.
Total scam. We paid for their yearly service for AC/Heating. When the heat went out today, not only did they not show, the company we called to come out claimed our Furnace hadn't been properly cleaned in many years. Something that we'd paid them to do in both 2017 and 2018 as a part of their semi-annual visits to our home to maintain our AC and Furnace.
Calling to complain or cancel was, of course, a huge mistake, customer service immediately punted us as customers and is charging us cancelation fees on top of charging us for the remainder of the year (without any further responsibilities on Atlas Butler to service or repair anything per their customer service rep).
So, if you care about your money, value quality work, or prefer to get the services you pay for... I'd say Atlas Butler is NOT for you.

Purchased a home with a water heater that had an Atlas Butler sticker on it. The inspector used a gas sniffer and found that the water heater connection was leaking. Upon further inspection, found that white teflon tape was used at the connections, which is not rated for gas. The pipe should have been doped and/or used yellow gas-rated teflon. After calling the company, they said they had no record of this installation (the water heater was manufactured in 2002) and would not do anything about it because they couldn't prove it was theirs. I can understand their hesitation except for the fact that their sticker was on the water heater and the HVAC system was also installed by them and serviced many times (the previous owner had records of that). Who knows how many other water heater that are out there with the same leaking white teflon tape from these people. Highly recommend against this company.
My suggestion is not to use Atlas Butler, they are unethical and charge prices way out of line for their service. Our furnace was out and we had just returned from a winter in Florida, they came right out and insisted we get a new furnace, we said no just fix it, they replaced a part for 1500.00! Thinking our furnace was on its last leg we called Classic Air who checked it and said the furnace looked and ran great. Oh and that 1500 part costs about 225.
This was my first and last time to use this company. The first plumber came Tuesday morning, but did not have the knowledge or tools to do the job. An older guy came Tuesday evening, still did not have the proper equipment to clear the drain. A third guy came Wednesday; same result.
Thursday morning, more of the same with a fourth guy. When I called to talk to Brian, the plumbing manager the person who answered the phone said it is company policy to not forward calls to management. The fifth guy came at 1 p.m. with most of the tools, equipment and materials needed to do the job. For 2 hours of work they wanted $400.00. I will not use them ever again for plumbing or HVAC.
I commend Altas Butler's emergency service. They were quick to come diagnose the issue with our air conditioning unit that stopped working. The diagnostic cost $89.
We were told it could be the capacitor. (Capacitors run about $30) Atlas wanted $945 to fix it. We were also told that the failed capacitor was *probably* masking a bigger issue. The tech recommended we get a new air conditioning unit. He gave us a rough estimate of $5,000-$6,000.
Thank goodness we called another company who changed out our old capacitor for a new one! Our AC is running flawlessly and it only cost $150 to fix!
Their prices are outrageous! Unless you love throwing money away, I wouldn't waste your time calling Atlas Butler.
I see that atlas butler has 1.5 stars, and now i know why. My mother, 80 years old, her furnace went out, and it's 41 degrees in her home. Atlas Butler rep told her there was a specific part that would be very labor intensive, and that she would need to replace the furnace for $6400. The rep said, if we just tried to repair your furnace, the labor would cost almost as much as the new furnace. Fortunately, my mother, again, 80 years old, got a second opinion, and the this other company told her the part she needed, plus labor would be $450. Atlas Butler is a disgrace. This is beyond unacceptable. Trying to screw over an 80 year old woman. I think we can all understand a difference of opinion of maybe a few hundred dollars, but $6000???? Atlas Butler, you deserve your pathetic 1.5 star rating, and i hope every future client reads the yelp reviews before using your amateur, unethical, disgraceful company. Disgraceful!

So, I call TODAY to see if they're coming and she tells me I am not on the schedule.
To make matters worse, this is the SECOND TIME they have no-showed and claim I was not on the schedule. So much for being a Premium member and having Atlas Butler charge my credit card every month.
Not happy.
Do yourself and your wallet a favor and call anyone but Atlas. I had a tech come out this morning and he blatantly lied about the diagnosis of the issue and was very adamant that I needed a new furnace. After getting two other companies out, both diagnosed a completely different issue and both concurred that there was plenty of life left in my unit.
Atlas Butler is a company that does not deserve your money, spend it somewhere else.
No new clients!!! (Or at least that was what I was told).
I called to get a problem with our furnace looked at. After a few minutes of questions the person asked me if we had a warranty. I told her we had a home warranty and she said we don't take home warranty's. I explained that I would pay her and submit this claim myself. She put me on hold and came back to tell me that they weren't taking any new clients.
Our heat pumps compressor stopped working at the end of October of 2018. We were lucky enough to have a 14 yea or old system that ran off R22 Freon! So replacing the entire system was the best option. Heat Pump and air handler. I called at 6 pm and a service tech came out at 7pm to look at it same day. After we talked it over and decided to replace the system the tech had a salesman at the house at 9pm. We wrote up the deal late Wednesday night and they installed the new system on Friday morning! I didn't really notice how much of a hack job my old system was until the finished the install! Absolutely awesome! The installers went the extra mile to tape up all the corners, re install my humidifier and just made it look nice, really happy with the detailed install.
Since install I've called 3 times for service. 1. Because the safety trip sensor tripped because the drain clogged and it would not drain so it tripped the acoil to shut off so the only thing running was the fan, no ac. I cleared the clog and it started back up but by the time I noticed it was clogged the inside temp has rose to 80 degrees. It was about 90 outside and it was not cooling down so I thought something was wrong and called for service, the drives about hours later same day. 2. It was in the winter and was loud, I could hear the heat pump onside like never before, I called service and the arrived an hour and a half later, no problem found, was educated that some times in extra cold conditions they can get a little louder than usual. 3. Another 90 degree day and the temp was holding at its set point but was odd that it never shut off all day and it was not blowing very hard out of the registers, I removed the 4 filter, it seemed pretty dirty and I looked into the housing to see the acoil and it was iced up. I know the only reason your acoil iced up is from Lowe charge/Freon or not enough air flow , dirty filter. I put in a new filter turned on the heat to melt the ice off the acoil faster and called service at 11pm, tech arrived 30 minutes later. Explained to him what I did, he checked
The charge, agrees just dirty filter probably slowed air flow and cause it to ice up. Thing was I just had preventive maintenance 3 month earlier and they changed the filter then.
Every time I called atlas from the first problem to the most current they always show up super quick. Never paid a dime for anything and never a problem with the equipment. The reason I do 4 starts is because after install they were supposed send out a QA person to check work, give information and schedule inspection, That never happened. Also the price was kinda pricy, well above industry standards, but when it's 100 degrees, humid was hell, and you have a problem, you call them, and they show up, and not 9 days later leaving you to roast!
Thank you for always being there!
UNDER REVIEW FOR FURTHER UPDATE - MORE PROBLEMS FOUND AND ONGOING ISSUES!
I had atlas butler out about 4 weeks ago. it was extremely cold and I feel they thought they could take ADVANTAGE of an old woman and who had no heat for several days. this man looked at it and said that 2 things needed to be replaced and that would cost 2700.00 to fix. I had replaced the one part a few years before and knew it wasn't that expensive. I told him I would not pay this amount to repair an old furnace. He suggested having a quote for a new one. I checked out the prices for the parts. The 2 parts retail cost total of 238.00. I found someone to put it in for 100.00 it took about 35 to40 minutes tops. what a rip off. I will never use them again.
Furnace stopped working, so we had to call someone who is 24/7 to get it fixed that night as it was already 60 degrees in our house. They are really good with responding to calls and were able to send a guy within an hour. After looking at our furnace he said that we had to either replace the motor (around $1,500) or to get the whole new HVAC unit as there might be more issues. In the end didn't fix the issue and charged us $89. Called our regular contractor and got the actual problem fixed (circuit board) for around $500. Won't call these guys again
My furnace stop working in February on one of the coldest nights. I called several companies no one could come out. Atlas Butler staff was professional and friendly. Thank you
Way, way too expensive. Hold your wallet close when these guys are around and get competitive quotes. Crazy of market pricing.

Over priced for one thing. But went with it during COVID as home warranty folks were not booking any appointments and my furnace was raining water from the AC unit. Totally UNSAFE. Signed up for Elite Service ($30+/mo - by the way not worth it for the discounts as mentioned earlier way over priced) Earlier appointments got either confused where I got text message someone was on their way, I left work, got home, and no one showed. When trying to reach out to confirm my annual AC inspection... which I booked months and months ago... told there was no appointment. Said I can't get an appointment until June. WTF? Sorry for the implied language. So much for 'Elite membership'.
Furnace was acting up so I had a tech come out. Told the guy I thought it might be the thermostat. He looked at the furnace, ran some tests then told me it could be fixed for $650. That turned into over 3K after he said they no longer stocked the part. Next thing he's scheduling an appointment for someone to come and give me an estimate for a new furnace. Called another company and just as I suspected it was simply a bad thermostat. Fixed for $200.
i am begging anyone with any a/c issues to go ANYWHERE else other than atlas butler. they charged me $1000 for a $150 fix. my a/c wasn't blowing cold air and the capacitor just needed replaced (this is a $10 part!). huge regret on my end as i didn't know any better, but this was last month when the weather was 90°+ for a couple of days and i was desperate for help as i have young children and my parents (70+) in the house. out of 5 or 6 companies i called, they were able to come out the soonest (their only redeeming quality). my neighbor with the same problem went with another company and advised that including her service call fee, she was charged $188 in total for the same problem. i wish i had some recourse, but i don't have anyone to blame except myself. please don't make the same mistake i did!
Dead of winter, my unit stops blowing warm air... I called a couple companies, these guys come out first. They tell me the part and repair will cost over a grand and will take over a week to arrive, and since my unit was over 10yrs old.. should just buy new unit..
Next company arrives.. 'Total Comfort' and Dennis tells me the part is common, he can pick up today and fix today.. Charged me $235 for everything.
Don't hire Atlas Butler... They are Cheats
They are a commission based business, and they are out to rip you off, i have 2 friends that work at a non commission based company and they will treat you right, if you want to pay double and often getting things you don't need call atlas butler, they are borderline criminals.
Agree wholeheartedly with Melanie E. Gum-chomping punk said my refrigerant was leaking and he could repair it for $3500 and said I would be better off replacing it entirely at a cost of $4000 - $8000. Offered to have a salesman come out same day.
I sent him packing and got a call back from Toops Heating and Cooling which is who I tried to reach in the first place. They are honest and I was first referred to Mike Toops from a home inspection company I used when I bought my condo four years ago. I've had them out several times - routine maintenance, a new thermostat and a heating issue.
Their prices are fair. Cody Toops was there at 10:30 and within a hour I was back up and operating. For $89. His quote for a new Lennox was $3200 installed.

They came out to look at our rooftop unit. When they arrived the unit was working with no problems but he told me I needed a new heat exchanger for over $3000. He left after 45 min.
When I got by bill, I was charged for 2hrs and 45min.
When I called to ask about the overcharge, they sent me a second quote and jacked up the price by $400 due to what they said was a mistake on the first quote..... I called again and the manager said that the tech mischarged me and he would refund 45min (still 2hr more than he was here)... but they never did. Steer clear from this company.

After loosing my furnace at 1 am I called who I thought were the best. He diagnosed I had a bad igniter and it was too rusted to fix. The furnace is old so I conceded.
But got a second opinion anyways. There is no igniter, they charged me 89 dollars to lie to me only to sell me their product. I went with advance instead. They are local, and they are good people.

We called Atlas Butler to snake out a clogged kitchen sink drain. The first thing the technician had me do was sign a waiver to take the company off the hook for any pipe damage that might occur. After two unsuccessful attempts to snake the drain, the technician said the pipe underneath our basement foundation was broken and needed to be replaced. The estimate for this was $5,700. Fortunately, I called Drain Busters to see if they might be able to unclog our drain. The technician made one attempt to snake the drain and it drained perfectly. He was in our house only 20 minutes. The bill was only $130. I would urge anyone to call Drain Busters. They obviously know what they are doing. I would not recommend Atlas Butler to anyone.

Beware.
If you intend to use Atlas Butler for any services then be aware you are going to pay 2 to 3x the amount of the service. I recently had a compacter fail in my cooling unit which is a $20.00 part. The install was 15 minutes and there was an $85.00 service assessment. I was billed $518.00 for the total.
One he completed the work and was told the bill I proceed to tell them to remove the part. Especially after all my other estimates came in from other local companies who ward me that I shouldn't pay over $200.00 for the service.
I also discussed this with their corporate office, who I also asked to remove the part and I'll pay the service call fee, but was then threatened to be taken to collections. Before they hung up on me.
After looking at all their reviews I can see that this company has a history of scamming customers for anything they can for what should be low cost services.
So BEWARE and call your local companies first. The price and service will be better. Trust Me

If I could I would have given 0 stars because they don't even deserve that because on May 09 2020 I had a plumbing problem to where It was flooding in my kitchen, It kept flooding and they came out thinking it was from a pipe where I use my washer because I was doing laundry at the time. They came out and flushed the pipe then they left. I was charged $179.00 for the work that he did. I started laundry again and sat on the washer to make sure it didn't leak again. It started leaking again and I realized it was coming for a pipe that led to the outside main pipeline. I called them back out. They said it wouldn't be any charge because they are the ones that made the mistake. They found tree roots in the pipeline and it took about an hour to fix the problem. They asked me for my credit card again and they said that because of the mistake they were going to refund me $19.00 and make it only be $160.00. I checked my credit card today and realized that they charged me twice and when I called to complain and say that I wanted my money back they said it wasn't a mistake and that I wasn't getting that money back. I will NEVER be using them again and I don't/will not recommend them to ANYONE!! this is one of the worst things I have ever encountered and I'm very upset. Plus to make things worse I am a 70 year old widow and I only have social security to live on so I really needed that money to pay my bills.
We were quoted $35 trip charge and $115 hourly charge for an AC service call. The technician arrived at 10:45. After working on AC unit for about an hour, he realized he did not have the specific tool needed and left to obtain one. He was gone for about 45 minutes. He then worked until about 1:40 (After taking 30 min lunch break). We received an invoice for 3 hours of work which totaled $380. We were never informed that Atlas Butler begins charging the hourly rate when they leave the previous job. It is unfair to pay a $35 trip charge AND an hourly rate for 45 minutes of driving. We have called Atlas Butler several times and have spoken with Cathy and Ken. A manager has never returned our calls as requested.
Needless to say, we chose to go with another company that quickly diagnosed the problem and had the necessary tools.
My wife and I have our home in Worthington, in a house that was built in 1922. We're the third owners, so it's a safe bet that the house is a keeper. During the intense rainy season that started in late 2019 and continued into the spring of 2020, our basement started to flood. About eight weeks ago, my wife and I figured we needed expert insight into how best to deal with this flooding.
I called Atlas Butler, spoke to Joe at the customer support side. He listened carefully to what we had been experiencing, asked a bunch of questions designed to sort out what the problem was, and said he'd schedule a visit by a technician the next day.
Fast forward eight weeks, and we now know we chose the right company. It took a lot of experienced evaluation, a bit of drilling, and a crew of talented craftsmen, but our house now has an effective sump pump that dovetails nicely with the clay tile system that had been part of the 1922 construction.
The work this spring by Atlas Butler gives our house a new lease on life, and we're really happy. We're also happy that Joe mentioned the Atlas Butler Comfort Club during that first call. I suspect it might sound like a sales program, but hey, it's like getting the loyalty card at Kroger. The house is old, its systems need tweaking from time to time, and every time we've called to use the Comfort Club's services, the representative showed up on time did what needed to be done. So all things considered, the Club has served us well.
Job well done; time and money well spent. Thanks.

I can't select a RATING for this company as you can't select a NEGATIVE Star Rating. But in order to post this I have to select 1-star.
Our AC went out over the Memorial Day weekend just as the temp was hitting the high 80's. Like most people I called several companies and Atlas was able to come out on Sunday for just a service fee. What I didn't expect was a how the tech tried to corner me. Took the cover off and looked over the unit. Never put his gages on the unit and told me because it was an older unit he would have to install a $800 part in order to see if it had enough freon. If it was low he couldn't add any as they stopped making it but he would credit me the $800 on a new $4000 - $8000 new AC unit. I stopped everything right then, I called another service company that came out and as soon as he opened the cover he immediately noticed that the Capacitor was BAD and the part was only $50 to replace. That alone is a $750 dollar savings. Once this was done he put his gages on the line and found out it was fully charged. Hit the reset button and we had Cool Air. I would tell anyone who is thinking about calling Atlas Butler to call several other companies as well before you use them. I will never call them again knowing now that they will try and lock you into something you don't need or at least TELL YOU THE TRUTH . Why didn't their TECH tell me the Capacitor was BAD?? Because he wanted me to buy a PART I didn't need and a New AC from them. I am replacing the AC unit to a more efficient one but not from Atlas Butler.
Worst service ever. Got charged with $89 and the technician told me from the main door a suggestion without even inspect or take a look to the unit. 30 seconds for $89 and nothing changed or fixed. Called customer service and even worst. Took them full week to get back to me and after that telling me this is trip fees . Never ever call them again

In my opinion Atlas Butler has significant deficiencies when dealing with customers and their technicians do not consistently meet a high bar of quality one would expect. I was an Elite member, who paid a monthly premium to have what I thought was a higher tier of service and response when dealing with my HVAC needs. Here has been my recent experience.
On January 14th I called in for service. I was told I would receive a call back right away. 30 minutes later, still without a call, I called again, and was told I would receive a call soon. 2 hours or so later, still without a call, I got through to the office, and someone was promptly dispatched. My furnace was then repaired at a cost nearly double the competition in the local area. As an elite member I am given a 35% discount on parts, so to find that I was still paying nearly double is disturbing. Regardless, my furnace was working again. I called the next day to share my poor customer service experience, and was told that a manager would contact me back within 2 business days. That never happened. Which means, that 3/4 phone calls resulted in no results - clearly showing Atlas Butler cares very little about the customer experience!
Again, I had to call for service on February 11th. I gave instructions on the phone to call my number which was the first number, and not the 2nd number on my account. Explicit instructions so that my sleeping partner was not unnecessarily woken up. However, my partner was called 3x and my phone was called 0x to let me know someone was en route. Technician arrives, and he was quite pleasant. However, he was very poorly trained, if trained at all. He didn't know basic functions of the furnace, and in fact told me to call an electrician because my gas furnace was only getting 120v. A comedy of errors ensued, and let's just say I am beyond thankful he was able to call a more experienced technician on the phone because this guy had no business opening my furnace to begin with.
Again, on February 12th, I called the office to recap them of my customer experiences. This time a manager did call me back and was quite apologetic, which is always nice. However, all she offered was an apology for this comedy of errors I had experienced. Not acceptable for someone paying $30+ a month and not receiving any quality. She also offered to make a note on my account to only send good/senior technicians - which in my opinion is so frightening. Here she is openly acknowledging that portions of the staff are not capable of performing simple duties - why would I ever pay for this? You should not pay for it either. This is one star, low level service that people should avoid. There are better options in Columbus, and those options are also cheaper. Avoid Atlas Butler.
I have not used Atlas Butler but doubt I ever would. Sunday February 16 around 2 pm the delivery driver on Rome-Hillard almost took the front of my car off. When he took the turn lane up to the light then cut in front of me. I really appreciate the smile and finger he shot me when he did this. Make me thing wow what a great brand they have there and if this is how he drives I wonder how he installs or supports his work. I'm guessing as poorly as his driving and delivery skills.
I had an awful experience with Atlas Butler Plumbing. They installed a new gas water heater. They informed me when the job was completed and left. I went to the basement to check it out, and there was a very strong smell of gas. I ran up the stairs and out the door to report this to them, and they said that it was normal as they to bleed a gas line. They wouldn't even check on it. Two hours later the gas smell was still really strong, and I was feeling very sick (headache, dizziness, nausea). I called Atlas Butler back to inform them, and they were pretty unconcerned. They said they could have someone come in 1 to 2 hours. I told them I believed it to be an emergency, but they were dismissive. I called the gas company, and they came right away and found gas spewing out of a fitting that had not been tightened. The gas company employee fixed the leak and was shocked at what a careless and dangerous job they had done. I called Atlas Butler, and upon hearing what the gas guy found, they reluctantly sent someone. I had been promised that someone in upper management would call to discuss this, but had to call them three times before the plumbing manager was forced to call and was pretty dismissive. I have a 35+ year relationship with Atlas Butler, but I am done with them.
My AC went out this past Saturday during the mini-heat wave. I usually have my AC unit serviced/repaired by a local small family owned business but they were closed on Saturday but stated on their automated phone system, to leave a message if it is an emergency, so I did. But while I waited for a call back from my usual service company, I called Atlas Butler in Columbus. Very professional and a very organized call-in system. Their communication and follow-up through was very impressive. Within 3 hours, I had a technician at my door. He was very polite and also very professional. I took him down to my AC unit and I knew that the blower fan and blower motor was not right and he agreed with me. After looking at the fan/motor, he stated that it needed to be replaced. He did some calculations on his phone and said it would cost $1900 and then he said, if I was you, I would replace the unit for $4500 or so.. I know enough about AC units to be a little dangerous and I knew that was way over priced. He said, another sales person could be out today with a firmer price. I stated ok and that I would think about it. After he left, the small family owned business returned my call and I told him about my issues with my AC unit. I them told him that Atlas Butler quoted me $1900, there was a long paus and he stated, that is way over-priced. It shouldn't cost more then $800. He then said, he would get to me this week which he did and it came to $667.00. Big savings. Glad I waited. If you need your AC fixed right away and you have the money, then that is your choice. I just wanted to share my story. Again, very professional company but prices are bit high.
WARNING!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY FOR ANY REASON. They deliberately lied to my wife, and then scammed us with a credit card on file to bill us nearly $2000 in charges for only a few hours of work. The part that failed on our unit was supposedly under warranty. Meanwhile, as it turns out, were charged for the part, and an INSANE amount for labor. Unfortunately, they had my wife's signature and a credit card, so we are stuck with the fees. I've called multiple times, and was deflected by clearly-trained, arrogant C/S folks telling me its just the way they price jobs, and we can basically go pound sand. I have documentation. They supposedly recorded all phone calls, so if anyone needs them, I'm sure we can subpoena the recordings. It's no wonder they only have a 2.5 out of 5 rating with the BBB!! I wish I'd have looked before letting them into my home!!!!! Full story- our home was built 4 years ago, so only 4 y/o air units. They were hired to do the inspection and maintenance...coincidentally, the coil (after working fine for 4 years) developed a leak and had to be replaced. The technician told my wife the parts were covered under manufacturers warranty, and we'd only pay labor. She signed his form to do the work...and here we are. They claim to have been operating this exact same way for 100 years... In business for 100 years, yes, but operating like this? Hard to believe folks.
I scheduled an estimate for a new A/C unit, and was home an hour before they were supposed to arrive. 40 minutes after the scheduled time, I hadn't seen or heard from the estimator. When I called, the lady on the phone insisted that the estimator had been there and nobody was home. She was very curt on the phone, and hung up on me after saying that the estimator would call me. A few minutes later, he called, accurately described our home, said that he saw our dog, and claimed that he had beaten on the door for a couple minutes, and that he had waited for 20 minutes before leaving. I know he was lying because the three dogs in our house were not in the living room, but would have barked their heads off had he even knocked gently. I don't know why he felt the need to lie, but I will never give them my business again.
I bought this house fall 2015. In the summer my air.conditioned was not cooling so I called Atlas Butler. The technician said it I will either need to replace the unit or spend $1,200 for new coils. I had a one year homeowners policy from the seller that would pay for this but the insurer did not have Atlas Butler on their approved list of contractors so I had to use someone else. As it turns out I did not have to buy a new furnace or spend $1,200 to replace coils. They just replaced filter and all worked.
I had signed a contract with Atlas Butler on their first visit for them to come out 3 times a year to service my unit so I called them for fall check up. I was having no problems with my furnace but by the time the young man was done he told me I needed several parts replaced that' would cost over $1,000. He said if I dont do it now eventually it will stop working. I told him I was going to get a second opinion like I did last year when they did something similar so he left. Two hours later I return home and it's freezing in my home. It is 9PM and they send out a technician who said the panel is shot and I need to spend $1,200 to get it up and running. How could this happen? My furnace was working fine before they came out. Now it's midnight. I am having 40 for Thanksgiving dinner in 2 days and I have no heat.
This company took advantage of my 80 year old mother on a fixed income last week. She was easily confused into signing the membership contract that she did NOT understand and charging her $600 to replace ac compacitor-absurd. We will be disputing the remainder of the bill and calling 6 On Your Side, not sure how they sleep at night. I will continue to tell everyone I know not to do business with your company, very shady.

This place is a joke! The blower motor went out in our furnace. I called Atlas Butler because I thought they were a popular and respectable company. The tech came out and diagnosed the problem and said that it would cost a little over 1000.00 to repair but that our furnace is so old that we would be better off replacing the whole thing. We planned on doing that so he said that he would call the sales guy to come out and the tech left.
After talking with the sales guy who was kinda rude he insisted that we not only needed a new furnace but we also needed a new a/c unit, all new duct work, and the return air vent needed to be made bigger. The furnace alone was going to cost according to him a little over 4000.00. 4 grand for something that I can get elsewhere for a little over 2 grand! we decided to just replace the blower motor at this time. So the sales guy said that he would call the tech and let him know that he needed to come back and do the repair.
I waited all day in a cold house and the tech never showed up and never called. I ended up having to call the main number to see what the problem was. I spoke to the manager who did nothing but make excuses. Two days later the tech showed back up to make the repair. 1000.00 for a 200.00 part plus 83.00 added on at the last minute because they didn't have the part in stock and had to have it overnighted from their manufacturer in Nebraska!
Here I sit a month later and my furnace has not been right since the repair. It now makes this loud vibrating noise. I had them come back out and the tech said nothing was wrong that it was just from my furnace being dirty and that he could clean it for another 150.00. I find it odd that this vibration and noise didnt start until after they worked on the furnace and all the sudden it is so dirty that its loud and vibrating. I call bull on that one.
This place does nothing but try to get you to spend more money, they way over charge, and honestly I feel that they dont fully fix things so that they can get you to have another service call just to get more out of you. Gotta love the greed.
Our 33 year old furnace finally gave out, we did some company comparisons and called Atlas Butler. The repair guy who came out within an hour (I'm sorry I didn't get your name!) was amazing. He took a look, found our problem in like 15 minutes. It was pretty complicated, but he made 100% sure we understood it, even took pix of our furnace so he could show us the rust accumulation, etc. made sure we knew all of our options (repair/replace) We decided to get a whole new hvac system. An hour after that guy left, Technical Adviser Mark D. showed up, looked at the existing system, calculated our needs and gave us 4 options for a new hvac package. He made sure we knew about rebates, energy credits from the gas company, etc. He was super nice about helping us with financing, and final product is looking good!
Hot water heater was leaking from bottom (rusting out). Called and sent someone out same day. Came back next day to install. Timeliness good. Service tech was nice enough (could have been a little more personable). But was quoted $1900 (after signing up for membership (removes service charge and gets 20-30% off) and $100 discount). This price seemed really high but I was going out of town and did not have time to get multiple quotes. Summary: Service = decent. Price = high
I found out today that, as Comfort Club members, they were not actually performing maintenance services on our HVAC system. Our furnace, despite being maintenanced regularly, had not been cleaned in YEARS! It stopped working today because the flame sensor was FILTHY and the burners were rusted. A wonderful local company was able to come out and perform the maintenance and told me I really needed to get regular maintenance done and not let it go for years. That's when I told him Atlas Buter was SUPPOSEDLY doing that for us and he was shocked. I asked the guy from the local company if he thought our furnace would need replaced soon as Atlas Butler has been harassing me for several years about replacing it stating it isn't doing well and could go out any time. Turns out it's in GREAT shape and we should have no problem getting another 5-10 years out of it. I immediately called Atlas Butler to cancel our Comfort Club membership. The girl on the phone was more than happy to cancel, but got VERY nasty with me when I explained my concerns, refused to acknowledge them, interrupted me frequently, and told me I was lying. She also told me, AFTER I cancelled, that I would still have to pay them for the remainder of my contract even though they're no longer obligated to perform services since I cancelled and told me if I tried to not pay I would be immediately sent to collections. I'm glad to be rid of them and hoping their threats don't continue to be a problem since they have my credit card information. AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!
Prices are INSANE. Regularly can not get in touch with them, you get their answering service and then a call back hours later (if at all). This company thrives off taking advantage of people.
Very costly, always trying to sell you something. I replaced my A/C on there advice but did not buy from them. They were over a $1,000 higher than competitors. I have a Home System Protection rider on my insurance which would help defray cost of replacing. Atlas Butler would not talk to the insurance claim adjuster and kept referring to look at service bill which stated bad conductor unit is old recommend a new one. I find out the conductor piece would have cost $150 and this was not tried to see if it would fix issue. Again trying to sell new units based on service calls.
I have to say the plumbing side has been great.
I terminated my service contract.
New water heater and furnace installed by Atlas Butler mid December, 2015. This November, just after thanksgiving the water heater blew and water gushed out like a mini waterfall from the area near the pilot light. I called Atlas Butler to hopefully have someone come out and fix it. The lady that answered the phone transferred me to their plumber. Of course I received voice mail box so I left a message explaining my urgency and problem with the water heater. To this day (12/21/18) I have yet to receive a call back from the plumber or anyone else from this piss poor company. Water heater was less than three years old. I hung up after leaving a voice mail and immediately called CARE Heating and Air Conditioning. They sent someone within a few hours. Next day they installed a new water heater and it works great. I will NEVER call Atlas Butler for anything due to the very poor customer service, not to mention their faulty products. Don't waste your money on Atlas Butler when there are companies out there who respect and care about customers and the hard earned money shelled out for heating and cooling.
I called atlas to clean my duct work. Note that I did not call to get pricing. I am a previous customer of theirs and have one of their units installed. I was told that in order for me to get my ducts cleaned that I would first need to have a quote completed. So for something that I want/need, they want me to take 2 hours to wait at home for their estimator to come. I specially them that it did not matter how much because I wanted their service because it is their equipment. I thought business actually wanted customers, instead of making them jump thru hoops to get service. I was even calling two months in advance to get this scheduled. Plus they don't do evening appointments. Needless to say, a different company will be getting our business.

As a 10-plus year customer, when the furnace fan would continue to blow only cold air (on the coldest day of the year) we called and after an examination, were told that the secondary heat exchanger was overheating, the written estimate to repair would be $3,699 and the system had to be tagged out until fixed. We called another company for a second opinion and their service man immediately noticed the completely clogged air filter. After he changed it, all temperatures were normal and the system works just fine. I'm switching my business to the second company because I have simply lost faith in A/B.

Good things first:
1. answered a Sunday night call for a broken hot water tank promptly (not every one does)
2, came out first thing Monday morning as promised (not every one does)
The low rating is because they replaced the pilot assembly, cleaned flame arrestor, and installed an air filter on a 12 yr OLD tank for $342!
The next day---no hot water. They could come out and replace the next part for $500 ish (I blanked out the exact amount from shock) OR they could replace the tank because it is OLD for $2000! That made me go straight to YELP to find another company,
Although the first charge would be deducted--- still $ 1,658 for a 50 gal gas tank. Even wasting the new part, that is still $200 more than my highest estimate and $700 more than my lowest!
Why did I agree to an expensive repair to an old tank? This is a rental house and the tenant called them and paid them---planing to deduct from rent. I would have thought they would have called me about a new tank instead of a $340 repair on a old tank. The $500 ish part is why the tenant called me. MY concern is: I read this was a similar experience for another reviewer---a furnace, not a hot water tank, but the same first one expensive repair followed by a second more expensive repair to something that probably should have been replaced. (she now will use YELP instead of that other site).
This company does not care about customers. My father has been using Atlas Butler for 7 years and seemed happy with his service. When my mother moved we started using Atlas Butler, she signed up for Comfort Club Membership which cost $ 240.00 a year. This service was done twice a year before turning on air unit and heating unit for the season. The one complaint that we contiuned to have was that the unit is located in the attic, and this required the service person to bring a ladder. This past month the service person came to do the air unit check, he did not bring a ladder. The unit in the attic was not checked. Three weeks later the air unit was not cooling the house. After calling Atlas Butler and reminding them that a ladder was required. A serviceman showed up without a ladder and used a kitchen chair to climb in to the attic where he found that a screw was lose on the unit. The service call cost $89.00. This was an issue that should have been caught during the earlier unit check. A call was placed again asking for a refund of the $89. The office manager returned the call three days later, it was explained that the serviceperson that did the air unit check, did not do the required service. He would have needed to go into the attic. The office manager said that it did not matter he would not refund the money for the service call.
Facts:
Paid $240.00 a year for services not performed.
Recommend this company to neighbor that had to have his unit replaced.
This company does not care about customers.
The major diffference in my father's service calls and mother's calls are that my father understands and can see that work is completed. My mother was suffereing from a health issue and was taken advantage of from this company.

My wife had them come to fix our running toilet. He did not fix the issue and charged her more than 2x what we bought it for. We called to have them fix what we paid them for and told them we weren't paying to have them come back. The lady on the phone told us we would need to discuss that with the technician/Plummer when he got here. What a position to put your customers and coworkers in. It's a total scam of a business. Don't call them for anything!
Called Atlas Butler when our furnace started making a clanging noise. We thought we could possibly get it fixed but we knew the furnace was pushing 19 years so we weren't too hopeful. Anyways they sent a service tech to tell us what the situation was.. and basically said two parts needed fixed if we wanted to go that route. One part costs $700 and the second (since our furnace was so old) would cost around $4k!! The most ridiculous quote! Like I don't know how much furnaces are. Sounds like atlas trains there techs to push for new furnaces.. paid 90$ for their advice then called Hetter for a new furnace. Sorry Atlas you need to change your sales pitch.
I gave a check to the technician who came out to see if he could fix my AC unit (after I had told them I wanted an estimate on a new one). The check never made it to the accounting department and I was issued a past-due notice. When they came out to give me an estimate on a new unit I was heavily pressured to go with them, even asking me why I was hesitant about the (clearly overpriced) unit. Completely negative experience all the way around. There are plenty of competitors who will offer fair prices and much better customer service.
SCAM. Had routine maintenance/cleaning done and the technician reported he found cracks in the heat exchanger using a fiber optic camera, which could cause CO in our home, really playing up the danger/guilt angle. This is obviously a big deal, as we have an infant daughter at home. He even went as far as turning off our gas and tagging our unit as unsafe. He recommended replacing the entire furnace.
Had another local company come out for a second opinion, and surprisingly could not find ANY signs of cracks even after disassembling the entire unit and performing several tests.
To say I was beyond mad is an understatement. I was prepared to drop several thousand dollars to replace my furnace, only to be told that no work was necessary and that I was lied to.
DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY. They will use guilt, deception, and pressure to try to strong arm you into a sale/commission.
My air conditioner was running, but I wasn't getting any cool air. I called Atlas Butler... they said it was one part and charged me a few hundred dollars to replace it. Didn't fix it. Then they wanted to run a test that would cost a few more hundred dollars. I declined as they had already been there over an hour and I didn't feel like spending the time or the money at that point. They then sent someone out the next day (without notifying me ahead of time) who gave me an estimate on repairing (a few thousand) or replacing (a few thousand more) - without even running this necessary $500 test to see what was wrong.
I decided to a get a second opinion from another company. Less than an hour and under $200 later, my A/C is running with no problems and they said I did not even need the part that Atlas replaced. I highly recommend getting second opinions on any of their recommendations IF you decide to use them at all. I definitely will not be calling them again.

Said they added refrigerant to my AC. It didn't last but a few hours. They charged me full price and refused to do any credits nor allow me to speak to a manager. A scam at their best.
Atlas Butler arranged next-day service for my A/C unit to repair damage that was...well, really our fault. Service pro Kevin was very friendly and took obvious pride in his work cleaning up the mess that had fallen into the unit and testing to make sure everything worked properly. Thanks also to Pam for arranging a non-standard service call on short notice. Really great customer service all around.

My furnace went out yesterday and it was 8pm when we called Atlas Butler. The office said they could have a tech out between 10pm and midnight that evening, for which I was grateful. The tech called and said he was on his way much earlier and arrived around 9:30 pm. He was polite and efficient and had my furnace fixed and the house warmed up within the hour. I highly recommend this company and to prove it joined the club that will have them out servicing both my furnace and AC several times in the next year.
Do your research before going to Atlas Butler. Biggest rip off HVAC company out there. They'll continue telling you things are wrong and before you know it your bill will be sky high. Our service guy kept coming back with additional problems. Before we knew it the bill was up to $860. Red flags should have gone up when the service guy was late for his 4:00 appointment. We call and they didn't have our appointment listed then said a rep would come out and 6:00 and shows up at 5:10. #annoyed

We installed a new furnace system (including air conditioning). We recently used them for a plumbing repair (installing a new bathroom faucet. With all repairs, including the sales representative, everyone was efficient and professional. Another representative from a basement repair company said they provide an excellent product. Their system installation is superior which (from my understanding) is a vital component of heating and cooling. They train their own in house technicians to (I assume) maintain high quality. They may cost more than other companies but the adage; you get what you pay for, is true in this case. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
Do not use this company. You will be sorry. I was going to write details and names, but I decided the customer service representatives who were terrible at their jobs don't care anyway. Unfortunately, that usually means that the company doesn't care either.
I had Atlas Butler come out to do their ck up - we are club members - they found many things wrong and then the tech said he needed to put in a new filter they charged us $83.00 for a filter we pay maybe $35.00 for at the big box stores - in fact target had it last night for $28.99. I emailed customer service and told them I want them to call me and take their filter out and refund my cc. They didn't even have the courtesy to call back and silly us we were thinking of using them to replace the furnace - not happening. Crooks!
My guess is they are so well known in town and have so much business they could care less about all the negative things people say about them.
Rip off if I was present when the tech told my husband how much I would have said take it out!

I called because my well pressure tank had exploded with a huge leak. I called because they promote their company as providing plumbing services- and emergency services ! Well the gentlemen on the phone said they could not change out the tank and re-plumb a new one ? So, bad back and all , I did it myself. I find it amazing that a company that says they do plumbing ,can't , or won't, and an amateur like me can ???? Will never, ever call Atlas Butler again !
After some phone calls and e-mails I was able to get my concerns addressed and resolved.
Worst service provided by an unknowledgeable person!
I called in regards to the AC because was not working properly. The person came in and said everything looks fine. I paid the service call $89. A week or so later I had the same problem with the AC during one of the hottest days thus far; The AC was not blowing cold air. The condo was hot and I felt bad for my poor cat who was trying to find cold spots within my place. I called Atlas Butler Heating and Cooling again and was told they cannot come in until the next working day between 8-4. Also, I should normally be charged for the service fee again, but because they came in a few weeks prior they might be able to wave the fee. I will find out the next morning when the field person will get to my place.
Meanwhile, I called another heating & cooling company and within 3 hours, TS figured out what was wrong and fixed my AC. The AC was not working due to extreme pressure on the compressor, the condenser coil was plugged, the run capacitor was faulty, and of course the air filter needed to be replaced.
The guy from Atlas Butler did not even checked the filter to see if it needs changing! I would be ashamed to have employees like this person who has no idea how to do his job, but yet expect payment for it!
Poor and incompetent service! Please, don't waste your money on their services...
PS No invoice either!
THE SETUP***
ATLAS BUTLER did a service check on my 15 year old furnace...11/25/13 in the early afternoon! The agent looked at my furnace...took my thermostat apart.. The wiring to the furnace/heat pump and then turned off my power to the heat pump outside leaving me with FIREPLACE HEAT ONLY!! He then advised that my furnace was spitting out 4 parts per million carbon monoxide! He said that my furnace will be condemned and I needed a new one and a new heat pump...! He then called the office and said they would be sending out another person and left...without putting MY STUFF back together!!! 8:30pm-9pm the other agent arrives and was amazed at the travesty the first agent left behind... Apologized for the mess..and instructed that he would have to get in touch with the office and have another AB Contractor come out in the morning of 11/26/13 to go over in detail what I MAY NEED!
The CATCH***
The rep advised that he's been doing this almost all his life (35-40 years) and he would ONLY put in my house what's needed and he would really take care of my homes needs! After detailed deliberations with himself...because I was totally clueless he came up with this...
THE PUNCH TO THE THROAT and BELLY**
Totaling ...wait.. WAIT FOR IT ...Hold up... $9900!!! Shut YOUR MOMMAS FRONT DOOR!!
The TRUTH***
NORTHLAND Heating and Cooling were called... 11/27/13 They sent an agent out within 15 minutes.. Did their service checks.. Carbon monoxide well being check....and had no readings PERIOD! The agent stood right next to the closest vent/register!! Services to my inspection came up to $120...and I FORCIBLY chipped in $20 more for the agents lunch with a happy God sent smile! THANKS for being right on Northland H/C and doing the job!!
LUCY ...AB....YOU GOT SOME EXPLAINING TO DO....! C'MON MAN! Left stuff unplugged..or Off...so that they could hustle and flow!!! Tell me why you would lie to the public about fake cracks and carbon monoxide...just to break the clients back!! No cracks as AB said to the Heat exchanger!!

They would get no stars if that were possible. Total rip off. Prices 4X higher than another service provider for the same work. Quit using them and run them out of town.

November 2018 we were without heat for 15 days and Atlas Butler customer service did not care. Called daily requesting information with no results. When repair finally was completed, did not receive any discount to help with our high electric bill from running space heaters in our three story house. Contacted owner of company and his admin responded, but no one from AB service followed up to even hear about our discomfort. This is the third time in eight years we have been without hear or air for more than five days under our service contract with AB. We will not buy another furnace from AB and can only give an extremely negative review for their repair service.
This is a complaint I sent. No response from Atlas and they continue to charge my credit card....
Thank you for your e-mail response regarding my request to cancel the Club Membership.
In the interest of full disclosure I would like to add some background that supports my decision.
My house has three furnace/ac units some or all were originally installed by Atlas Butler by the previous home owner.
My first contact with your company was a service call for one of the three units not operating in heat mode.
Your tech visited and advised me that I needed a $400.00 part replaced. I realized I had an American Home Shield policy so I declined the repair and figured for that expense I would use the policy. I paid the Atlas Butler service call charge.
The company sent by AHS inspected the unit and found a loose wire. Unit was fixed in about 5 minutes and has worked perfectly since.
I didn't think much about it, mistakes happen, and I signed up for the Club Membership anyway.
Fast forward to last week when my Spring inspection happened.
Your tech approached me with a part removed from one of the three units and advised me that it should be replaced. A dual capacitor. $395.00 plus a free hard start kit. He suggested the same for a second unit.
I asked if the part was bad and he said No, but it could break at any time I indicated that this unit is rarely used and I will wait for it to break. He re-installed the part. In the meantime I checked to see that a dual capacitor for this unit is available for sale at under $40.
So, had I taken his advice in addition to the $600 a year for club membership I would have replaced a $400 part that only had a loose wire and two dual capacitors for another $800. (That only cost $80 combined)
I am glad you are not servicing my parents' house....they would have easily been taken in by this type of despicable marketing and sales protocol.
Be assured, I will not be paying the additional $300 for the contract. If you find this unacceptable I will be glad to share my concern with the ethical practices of Atlas Butler with as many people as possible.
Our Furnace went out 12/16/16 it was a very cold night. We absolutely needed it to be repaired. We called Atlas Butler and they came out promptly. I was told we had a bad pressure switch. They installed a new Pressure Switch which they claimed cost $343. You can buy a new pressure switch online for less than $50. I called to talk with management and they tried to justify this crazy price saying its under a 1 year warranty & they would not recommend trying it yourself. I spoke with another company on the phone and they explained how easy it is to change a pressure switch yourself! It took the tech less than 5 minutes to install. I should have had the tech tell me what was wrong them have him leave. I could have repaired the switch myself for MUCH MUCH less than what Atlas Butler charged. IT WAS ABSOLUTE ROBBERY & they were not going to do anything about it.
I don't know what kind of people you hire but they are rude and need to be taught manners. I was not fond of your old guy call my 2 years old chicken even if he was joking around. Let me tell you how brave my 2 yrs old is. He fought for his life undergoing many surgeries. So chicken he is not! My son did not like your guy and did not want to be around him. I don't blame him. You are lucky I keep my temper around my child or I would of gone off. Horrible way to represent your company.
I recently re-signed up for the deluxe maintenance plan with Atlas Butler. I have used several other companies in the past to do the annual maintenance on both my furnace and A/C (some highly marked on Yelp and other sites) to always feel disappointed. Never did the service technicians do a thorough job, always the minimum to just get in and get out. Not with Atlas Butler. I've heard some of their work is costly, but comparatively speaking when I request quotes, they are always on-par or even better with the discounts they give to their plan members. Another good note is that I had a Columbia Gas rep out because of a small leak and when I was discussing my potential movement and with his experience as an outsider that works with HVAC companies to some extent, what would he suggest. He advised me that most HVAC are pretty comparable, but that Atlas Butler actually does seem to pull the cream of the crop in the industry and not to sway my decision, but if he wasn't trained and licensed himself, that is who he'd use- yup, sold!
Today, Kyle was my Service Pro and what a Pro he was. He was very knowledgeable, professional, courteous, and all around pleasant. He provided recommendations, explained options, as well as, offered ways I could save money as a whole (not selling anything thru AB either). He took the extra step to ensure I was understanding the problem that I had by explaining in both a technical fashion, but also dumbing it down for me in laymen's terms and using a different reference and example. His work was very thorough and he even went a bit beyond to check out my humidifier. This was only based on comments I made regarding what another rep from a different company had advised the entire unit was broken and quoted to replace by them (highly marked company too), it would cost approximately $800. Kyle went thru the entire mechanism, including the water lines and pipes to identify it wasn't broken, the solenoid is not closing completely and that in the fall I can look to replace for around $330 or less and before my discount to reduce even more....just this unit is a little older so a bit harder come up with the part (which also could be for the potentially higher quote). He advised that AB would replace the whole unit for less than the $800, which there is no tax and includes labor.
All in all, I'm a happy customer with no plans on leaving them.

I had been an Atlas Butler client for more than 10 years. Approximately 2 years ago their service changed. Hard sales calls from their techs, always wanting you to add things. Last year my air conditioner stopped working, even though they were out just a few weeks before to do my tune-up. Tech said I needed a new unit but I had to have a sales person come out to talk to both my husband and me. We declined and wanted to get a second opinion. The Tech came back out the next day and was miraculously able to fix the air conditioner. My daughter had them out when her furnace stopped working, sales guy pushed and pushed, told them he couldn't guarantee the deal once he left the house, couldn't understand why they needed a second opinion, very aggressive. They purchased a comparable new furnace for $2500 less from another company. Shame on you Atlas Butler, you saw a young couple with new twin babies and thought you could take advantage. The techs used to come with filters, I told them I wanted them on my latest spring check up when I scheduled, they did not bring them and now want me to pay a $10 delivery fee for filters that are supposed to be included in my service plan. I have been in their comfort club for years and the service level has steadily declined. I called to cancel my service today and the rep couldn't have cared less and was not interested in why.
Horrible. I basically paid 3x for my AC/heater. Way overpriced, broke multiple times. Service manger told me AC units on average on lat 7 years...where Death Valley? Complete A-hole. Never again.
Still paying off their low grade equipment.
This company has a culture of profit over service. Do yourself a favor, and go somewhere else. After having our capacitor go out in our 9 year old electric furnace, we hired Atlas Butler to fix the issue. We subsequently signed up for their maintenance program. They would come out once a quarter for a check up, in return we would pay $40/ month. For 1 1/2 years, they came out and basically replaced the air filter, and everything checked out. This february, the technician came out and said that our entire system needed to be replaced. Later that day, a supervisor came out to give us a quote for the replacement. He spent no time looking over the technicians checks for quality control. He spent no time discussing what the issues were, only that we needed to replace it or we could be without heat at any time.
That was Feb 27, the last time we had any correspondence with this company. I have yet to hear back from this supervisor, to make sure my system was ok. After getting the soon to be bill of $9000 to replace the system, I asked another professional HVAC service to come out for a second opinion. To which the tech said that there was ZERO issue with the system. All of the diagnostic checks, which he walked me through, were normal. This company even explained why these elements were normal. This company also went on to show a quote for a possible replacement, if one were needed, would be $2000-$3000 cheaper for a comparable system! He then stated that we only needed a $100/yr system diagnostic, as opposed to a $480 monthly plan.
After calling Atlas Butler to explain the situation, they spent no time coming up with a solution. Only stating that they would cancel my plan, and they were sorry for the inconvenience? That's it?! This company has no interest in actually performing good customer service. They are just looking for the next victim to rob from. Shame on you Atlas Butler!!!!! I hope you actually do reach out to me for some sort of explanation, but I will NOT ever be using your services in the future, and will certainly recommend others do the same!
As a professional in the service industry, I am ashamed to relate myself and my company to yours. Perhaps you should spend less money on false advertising, and more on how to actually serve the clients who solicit your expertise.
False advertising on tv commercials. Does not indicate only services certain areas. Refused service in the area I needed which was only 25 miles away. Sad sad sad.

PRO: Technician on-site 4 hours after calling.
CON: Charging $250 for a $28 (retail) capacitor. And - not applying the $89 service call fee toward your parts or service. I paid $350 to have a $28 capacitor replaced. The Tech was done diagnosing the problem and completing the repair in less than 30 minutes. I don't mind paying for good work. And, I do appreciate the fact that they could get to me within 4 hours of calling. But, charging 9 times the retail price of a part is a bit ridiculous.

Called Atlas to schedule a routine inspection at the beginning of the winter season. Years ago, my [now deceased] wife worked with them on designing all their signage that is seen around town. I initially thought everything would be no problem as I was familiar with this staff. However, the big Impeding imminent concern, was that my furnace was actually defective and something we (Atlas Butler) found out three years ago. Like, Mark and and Mike from Atlas that worked with my wife couldn't ask my wife to check the serial number on a detective furnace that they themselves installed in previous years in our house? The technician then claimed he was required by law to turn off our gas and that he could report an unsafe household, if anyone in the house turned the gas back on. The technician said the heat exchanger was gas to expanded and that it could explode the house. There was something in the technician's demeanor that change when I simply asked him to explain everything to my lawyer who I was just happening to call for another non-legal issue, as she just lives down the street from me. The technician went back downstairs to our furnace and must have called three or four different compliance people and then returned, saying his supervisor was on the way and new everything about the furnace. The technician left. About fifteen minutes later, the supervisor arrived, someone my wife used to coordinate with their signage projects back in the day and he said that he had no idea what was going on and had never talked to the supervisor. He called the tech and within a few minutes simply started talking about getting a new furnace and wanted to know my income and credit score. I called CARE, and when speaking to them, they asked without me even saying anything about the furnace, only that I had talked to Atlas Butler, let me guess, they made some end of the world scenario about a heating exchanger exploding? It turned out not to be an end of the world scenario, but we've gone two days without our gas on until CARE was able to get out to the house. Atlas Butler has been targeting perceived upscale areas, Dublin, Upper Arlington, and Grandview because of the perceived social income status. I'd like to see Mark S. come to my house and threaten me the way his technician did. Thanks for your time.
I called them for service because my AC was not working properly the tech calls me back I tell him what's going on he says okay let's set a time and has her talking I tell him that we have to find our own contractor in our warranty will reimburse us he then says it is our policy we don't work on homes or the Home Warranty and I said okay that's fine the Home Warranty company is not paying for I'm paying for out of my pocket and this is a home warranty that we did not buy it came when we bought the house and he said they still won't work on the homes with a home warranty again I say to him that one more tears nothing to do with it when you leave after finishing the service I will be paying you directly sir I still can't work on any home with a home warranty whatever their policy is I understand if they had to deal with the Home Warranty company but they did not the only dealing with me so since they do not deal with home for the home warranty I will never deal with them ever when this home warranty finishes not only myself but everybody I'm associated with I will not ever refer Atlas Butler for anything thanks for letting me and my family burn up in the sweltering heat with your stupid policy.

I've used Atlas Butler twice in the past 12 months, both times for a furnace (my own home and a rental property). Both times the serviceman was extremely polite, professional and informative.
The first time the diagnosis resulted in a $374 quote, for what turned out to be a $19 part and a 5 minute repair. The second diagnosis resulted in a $550-ish quote, for a $27 part and a 45 SECOND repair. (Thank you YOUTUBE!)
I paid the $89 service fee twice and was happy to get a correct diagnosis. But I bought and installed the parts myself, saving nearly $900.00. (The second repair was so easy, I could have walked my 10 year old through it, WITHOUT USING WORDS!)
Atlas Butler seems to have their head in the sand. Times have changed, and the general public is not just going to blindly hand over wads of cash without turning to the internet to verify the information. In the case of the second diagnosis, I actually would have paid $150, just to save myself the hassle and delay (it was a weekend), but $550+ was so outrageous, they gave me no choice but to DIY!
Then I think back to how friendly the servicemen were, and have to admit that they were scamming me, and it makes me a little sad.
PS--It goes without saying that both times I was advised to purchase an entirely new system. That day will come, but when it does, I won't be calling Atlas Butler.
We recently purchased a new central air system for our home. After paying DOUBLE what the other guys charge, we now have a system that runs constantly all day (without a break- except when my nest thermostat times out for 3 minutes periodically because it's confused on why the a/c is running for HOURS) as the house continuously gets warmer. Yes, the temperature rises as the air conditioner runs. I had the maintenance manager come over to my home to assess the situation and he had no explanation and stood in my living room and told me that their systems are designed to keep ypur home no cooler than 75 degrees AND they are suppose to run all day constantly without shutting off to save energy..LOL.. So who wants to pay $4,900.00 for a hot house and high utility bill?! He then went into my basement and said all systems are functioning properly and the only explanation is I need all new air ducts ($3,500.00 more) because mine are only 4 and should be 6. Yes my house is old and yes so are my air ducts but my home heats just fine (quickly actually) with my 4 air ducts. Atlas butler replaced my 2 ton unit with a 1.5 ton and I was advised (by a different company) because of the age of my home, I may consider going to a 2.5 ton. He did not want to consider that my new unit is under-sized. He had excuse after excuse and left my home with no resolution except to try and make more money off of us. Please do yourself a favor and shop somewhere else to save yourself a headache and thousands of dollars!
No stars for this company. It is nothing but elder abuse. I called yesterday to have a gas water heater repaired. They told me it was $823.00 to repair it or $1992.00 to replace the water heater. The gas valve replacement part costs $229.00 depending on the store. The cost of a water heater costs $350.00 to 600.00 at Lowes. The $89.00 which they charged for diagnostics is not deducted even if you paid the scalper's price. The technician couldn't even tell me how much he was charging me for the part. I am aghast at their prices. I feel sorry for anybody that would use them when you can call anyone else and get your project done at a 60 to 75% discount. I was looking for a secondary plumber, but I know I will never call them again! I feel sorry for any elders who call them and don't have the sense to say, NO! The Better Business Bureau should be looking at this company!
I saw Atlas Butler was offering a $75 furnace tune-up/check. I called to schedule this service. I was asked if I had a home warranty, which I do so I answered yes. The employee told me they would not be able to come out and do the tune-up/check, and that I should call my home warranty company to see who they recommend. OK, what? If my furnace was not working, I would certainly call my home warranty company to have it repaired. However, it is working and I just wanted it to be checked for winter heating season. Why would Atlas Butler not be willing to do this furnace check? Makes no sense, but I'll go with another local company who is willing to do the tune-up.

Lost furnace due to flood in basement from frozen pipe. Was right around the holidays, but they were the only ones who could come out same day to look at it and give us something to show insurance, even though it was past 9pm by the time we got 2ft of water out of the basement. They were easily our choice as they were one of the only ones in town who could get us a new furnace within a few days bc of the holiday. Easy installation and we found prices reasonable compared to other large companies.

ATLAS BUTLER did a service check on my 15 year old furnace on10/29/13 in the early afternoon! The agent looked at my furnace...disconnected my humidifier and left a bunch of wires and an electric box hanging inside my furnace. He asked for a capacitor to be replaced which they wanted a bunch of money for. I got it replaced by another company for a much more reasonable price. I left a couple of messages and sent a couple of emails to their management about the humidifier and the hanging wires and electric box in my furnace but there was no response from them. I finally paid a couple of hundred dollars to another company last week to get the humidifier reconnected. Needless to say these guys are very dishonest. Avoid them at any cost to save yourself headaches and extra costs for the damage they do to your furnace (probably intentionally).
Chris G. came to my house for a routine maintenance check. He found a crack in my system (which he showed me) that can be pretty pricey to fix. Chris let me know the possible options that I had to fix the problem. Being that my system was getting up there in age, I felt my best option was to replace my system. I wanted to jump on the situation immediately. Chris got on the phone and had a Comfort Advisor, Mark D, come to my home within the hour. Talk about immediate service! I was provided several options with no pressure. Atlas Butler helped me through the entire process to make sure I was confident in my purchase. Without hesitation, I was recommend Atlas Butler. Thanks Chris and Mark for making my experience a positive one!
Have used them for over a decade. Service response and technician expertise have been excellent. I once had to call at midnight on a freezing Saturday night, and the tech arrived within the hour.
I have a residential service agreement with them; it costs $250/year which gives me priority on service calls, two maintenance checkups a year, and 20% off parts.
A major part recently wore out on my 6-year-old furnace (that Atlas installed). Replacement part was $1500, but cost me only $1200.

My parents want to replace their furnace and AC, so they've been obtaining estimates from various companies. A representative from Atlas Butler came to their house today and accused my dad of wasting his time, because Dad was upfront about getting estimates. He went as far as to tell Dad that he should just use the company with whom my parents have a maintenance agreement for their current furnace & AC. The representative was rude and evidently not interested in a cash sale, so my dad literally told him to get out of his house. Dad then called Atlas Butler, asked to speak with a Sales Manager, and was told that everyone was in a meeting and that someone would call him back. That never happened, despite the fact that he'd made it clear that he had a complaint. Don't waste your time. This company needs to reallocate some of the money it spends on advertising to train employees on good salesmanship and customer service.
Pam was really kind and helpful and I thought I was on the right track, but when I called back to find out how much Atlas Butler charges per pound for R22 refrigerant, the person on the other end said they simply don't release that information. I called a few other places, none of which had any issue giving me the cost.
I asked the 2nd representative I talked with at Atlas if I was hearing her correctly, that I had to pay nearly $90 to find out what they charge for refrigerant? To me that's like paying a fee to find out the price of gas or milk!
So while they are very personable and friendly on the phone, not providing the cost of freon, which for R22 can vary widely (from $30 in my hometown to $187 in Columbus) was a deal breaker for me and I cancelled my appointment.
Have not used in the past. Air went out in 90+ degree weather. Called for appointment on a Saturday and tech was out in late afternoon. Service call was very reasonable. Technician very Professional and knowledgable. Need a new unit and will definitely have them give us a quote. Very impressed.
I honestly feel like I was robbed, it actually kept me up at night. The service technician came into my home and diagnosed the issue with my A/C in about 10 minutes, he then gave me pricing on a part and I went inside to discuss it with my wife. When I came back outside the part had been replaced and I was handed a $517 bill ($89 was for the Service call, which I do not dispute). I checked the part number online and found it was a $22 part that I could have plugged in myself. I asked the technician about the markup, but he just said he doesn't make the pricing and showed me the standard price sheet. While I appreciate that I'm paying for their timely service, trained technicians and expertise, I refuse to believe they performed anywhere near the service to warrant over $500. The following day I contacted the management of Atlas Butler and after 3 separate phone calls it was clear they get a lot of these calls and they said there was nothing they could do for me. It blows my mind that they can get away with charging $2000/hour for the privilege of having them repair your A/C unit. I have 2 A/C condensers and 2 hot water heaters that will need to be replaced in the next year and I can promise I will not be calling these guys.

They do a good job of honoring warranties on installed equipment and repairing said equipment. However, on a promotional checkup we were quoted $200 to replace a blower motor capacitor (a $15 dollar part, essentially a glorified battery). Needless to say we went with a local competitor that completed the install for half of the quoted amount.
28 year old furnace quit one day. After Atlas Butler service pro Shawn assesed the system and explained what was going on, it was clear we needed a new furnace. We met with Comfort Adviser Chad the next day, who did a great job explaining our options, was knowledgeable and not pushy. The following day Nick and Keith installed our new system. They were efficient, neat and also very knowledgable.
I recommend Atlas Butler! They are customer-focused with 24/7 service availability and everyone we interacted with has been very professional. I feel good knowing I now have a HVAC company that I can trust.

Atlas Butler installs inferior equipment and then blames the manufacturer for the problems and will not fix the issues without a major cost to the customer. When you finally get a supervisor to call you back, they say there is nothing we can do because the warranty has expired on he parts. We have a unit that has had the coil replaced twice among many other issues and the unit is not even 10 years old. Every time one of their technicians come to perform maintenance, they find another problem which is at least $200 - $500 to fix. The technicians have also admitted that the equipment installed has had problems from the start and needed an above average amount of repairs. The supervisors are rude and it is definitely not a customer-first attitude. They just want you to give up so that they do not have to admit they install inferior equipment and do not back up their products. It is now my problem that I chose to buy and install inferior equipment. Do not ever use this company to do any work for your home. Maybe they should spend more money on equipment and not commercials. Can I do 0 stars?

Mark did an excellent job helping us with our water heater and running commode. Really nice and professional guy and excellent service. We will call Atlas next time and ask for Mark.

High prices, incompetent maintenance technicians and poorly installed systems are the Atlas Butler way. Stay Away!

Stay away form them!!
A tech said the home builder installed too small of a unit and that was the reason I was having problems. So I thought for $580 I was getting a good deal on a bigger better unit. They installed an Aprilaire 600 - different brand but same size unit. I complained - but was told it was a better unit. That was in 2009. New unit still regulary breaks down, cellanoid, thermostate..
I called 1 month ago and the tech never showed up. When I called they transferred me directly to the tech that didn't show up. He blamed scheduling on why he missed me. I told him that my humidifier wasn't working and the control panel was dead. He said it was because the temperature outside was not cool enough for it too kick on. I could not convince him otherwise and he thought I should have been thankful for him not coming and charging me for a wasted trip!!
Still not working. Now they are blaming my aquarium filtration system that has always been there. I then was told they would give me a new panel and move it away from the aquarium filter at no charge. Another tech came out and said moving it would make it not accurate (he checked with his boss) and said he could come out. I told him to go ahead and move it and have his boss come on out. He then came back upstairs and said he couldn't replace it because he was sent out with the wrong model panel...and he didn't want to charge me for something that wasn't going to work. Charge me? it was cleared by Ken, the last tech that charged me $89 for the trip to find all of this out!!! So still my unit sits dead while I wait for a manager to call me on Monday.
I have had them out about every 2 years to work on various H/C issues and always there is something that is not under warranty...trip charge plus parts/labor- $$$.$$ Contract is too expensive for what it covers no matter how you break it down.
They already have a price per part mark-up that exceeds your 20% discount.

When I was in need of HVAC repair, I tried Atlas Butler because a friend had used them before.
In short, they were terrible! On the hottest day of the year, my AC stopped working. I scheduled an appointment with them and was advised to turn the AC unit off before they arrived so that they could diagnose what was causing the issue without the unit having frozen up. So, I did just that.
When they arrived, they turned it on and started checking the Furnance for issues and they didn't find any. Finally, they went to check the outside unit. As soon as they got to it, it seized up and stopped working. So, they told me they would have to come back and CHARGED ME the service visit fee - without having completed the investigation or fixed anything.
The next day, they came back AND charged me ANOTHER service visit fee to continue troubleshooting what they were not able to resolve the prior day. After again investigating for about 30 minutes, they determined that the issue was inside the compressor which they could not take apart and, as a result they recommended replacing it for $3k or installing a new unit for between $4k and $9k. The unit was only 6 years old and they are supposed to last around 12 years.
At this point, I got a second opinion from a competitor....who came out the following Monday, spent about an hour troubleshooting - found the issue and fixed in 15 minutes with a part that they had with them...all for about $160.
The AC has worked ever since. BE WARNED. Atlas Butler is not to be trusted. They overcharged me on service fees (despite not finding or fixing the issue on their first visit) and they mis-diagnosed the extent of the issue to the tune of multiple thousands of dollars. I will not be using them again and you should definitely think twice.
They advertise a LOT. But there are other companies out there with better customer care, diagnostic skills, and good faith honesty that will not try to take advantage of you.

I would not do business with this company. I called them to have them come out and look at my furnace. They did, but apparently when I called to set up my service call, they say I signed up for some kind of maintenance service with a monthly service charge. After finding the charges on my credit card and canceling the service I thought the matter was settled. I never signed any contract or requested this service when making my appointment, yet they charged my credit card 19.95 for a number of months until I discovered it and canceled the service. Then I get a letter almost a year later from a collection agency about a past due bill with Atlas Butler for $175.31. Never had I received a call from Atlas Butler about any overdue bill or asking me for a past due amount. Please be careful when dealing with these shyster's, as they do not practice fair, professional or responsible business practices. I am also filing a complaint with the BBB.
I'm a satisfied Atlas Butler customer. We have the plan where they come twice a year, and we schedule a fall visit to check furnace, and a spring visit to check AC. They found a crack in the furnace, which we could see on a video camera, and needed to replace it. The AC had been on its last legs for years anyway, so we replaced them both.
I like Atlas Butler because they are trustworthy, they arrive on time, explain everything, show proof, seem to be honest, and do what they say. They're a bit more expensive but the care that they put into customer service, with me anyway, makes it a little better. I've been dealing with them since we moved into our house in 2010, and I've been pleased. I have no complaints. Good job.
Please do not choose Atlas Butler. We called them when our Furnace stopped working and it was 5 degrees outside. When the guy was downstairs fixing it the heat came on after just a few minutes. I was so happy since I have four little children and we were all freezing. I went down stairs and he said he had done a temporary fix but it would be $1190 to replace a circuit board. I said I couldn't afford that and would have to figure something else out. He still charged me the $90 for the diagnostic and then removed the temporary fix - he said he would leave it if I paid him $300. I can't believe he would undo the work like that. I called around and got a bunch of quotes all under $500 and one as low as $255 to replace the circuit board. I could not believe their inflated prices and lack of humanity.

So disappointed in this company. We had paid service agreement with Atlas Butler that gave us discounted rates on services. A technician came out and diagnosed a problem with our air conditioning unit, but did not fix the problem due to us having a home warranty. We were told to contact the home warranty to see if they would reimburse us if Atlas Butler did the work. We went above and beyond to convince the home warranty to let us use Atlas Butler because we have had no previous issues with Atlas Butler, and liked the technician that came out. When I called Atlas Butler to ask them to call the home warranty to verify the diagnosis I suddenly was informed that they don't work with people who have home warranties. Not only did the manager offer to cancel our service, he could not care less that we were unsatisfied. He was extremely short , showed much apathy, and did not care that it is 90+ degrees and we have pets. We have been nothing but good paying customers. I will never use them again, or recommend them to anyone.
DO NOT use Atlas Butler for AC/Furnace repair, service or installation. They charged us 495 dollars for a part that three other specialists have told us cost about 40 dollars (a Dual Capacitor). They were here for an hour and less than a week later, it has broken again. The cost to replace the whole thing was 3x what these other guys quoted us as well.
I'm now hearing lots of poor reviews about Atlas and they're extra high rates. Wish I had asked around first.

DO NOT USE ATLAS BUTLER! I live in downtown Columbus in an older house. My furnace went out in the middle of a sub-zero snow storm. The Atlas Butler technician arrived and informed me the the repair to my 18 yr old furnace would be $2,200! But he could install a new one that day for $5,000. I decided to get a second opinion from KNOW Heating. The KNOW technician arrived and did the same repair for $699 instead of $2,200! Also, the Atlas technician left my furnace disassembled when I informed him I would be seeking a second opinion. And the Atlas house call was $90.00 instead of $59.00 from KNOW Heating. Stay away from Atlas Butler, they try to scam hard-working people out of their money.
DO NOT USE ATLAS BUTLER FOR ANY COOLING OR HEATING WORK. Their slogan of putting our customer first could not be more from the truth. My husband signed an annual maintenance plan for our 18 year old furnace last August. In November that furnace died on us and we got a new one through another vendor as it was more cost effective. I communicated this change to Atlas and cancelled my plan as I didn't own/use the original furnace anymore. They have since continued to charge my card each month since then including just yesterday even though I have repeatedly contacted them to cancel and dispute the charges. I keep getting told a manager is going to contact me and I have never heard back from anyone over the last 5 months and always have to be the one initiating the communication. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR CREDIT CARD NUMBER FOR ANY REASON. I am now taking matters into my own hands and contacting the Better Business Bureau to report them and replacing my card.

We called Atlas Butler to come do an annual cleaning and maintence check on our furnace last week. Chris G. came out and after some inspection found what he said was a crack in the heat exchanger. He said it was life threatening to keep the furnace on and red tagged it. He said we could replace the heat exchanger for $1800 (the part is under warranty so this is all labor cost) or replace the furnace for $4000-$6000. He was very sales-y in his approach and I felt that he was using a scare tactic to pressure me. He seemed annoyed that we were asking him questions to gather more information. We ended up getting a second opinion and we are glad we did. After further investigation by this second company, there was no crack and no immediate danger (although the second technician did recommend some work be done). Atlas seems to be 30% higher in cost, and we felt that the technician was trying to take advantage of us by unnessesarily scaring us. By the way, their technicians are paid on commission, not hourly.
I can't speak to their service because they never showed up! We were given a window from 4pm to 5pm for their arrival, and took off 2 hours of work to be home in time. At 5:30, when there was still no service man and no call, we called them. The woman said it'd be another 30-45 minutes, and he'd call to let us know when he was on his way. At 6:30, still without even a call, we cancelled the appointment. They didn't provide any explanation or apology, just asked if we wanted to reschedule... NO! WE DON'T! Ugh.
Atlas Butler we're (NOT) at your service, (DON'T) call 1-800-FURNACE
Received a recommendation for Wolfe & Sons so will be calling them now.

I used Atlas Butler for numerous repairs, but found that the same type of repairs were done for much less with other Columbus heating and cooling companies. I received a quote for a new system and it was 30% higher than other quotes I received. Also, I notice other comments on this site regarding their so-called contract. I never signed a membership contract but they insisted that I had to pay for a complete year per the contract which I never agreed to or was notified. Not a good business practice in regards to their membership, and repairs are very pricey.
They installed new furnace & a/c last year, been satisfied since. Matt A was here to fo semi annual check last week, he's very polite, thorough & efficient. Explained everything well.
We purchased our a/c unit from Atlas Butler 15 years ago, so when it stopped working I called for a service call, they were very prompt to come out and diagnose the unit. They offered to repair it for approx. $1100 but could not guarantee that it would actually fix the problem, The technician strongly suggested that we replace the unit and the cost would be about $4000. We had an Atlas salesperson come out the next day and was quoted $5,665 for a replacement unit. When questioned the price they reduced it by $844 for being a past customer (shouldn't have to ask for that discount). Still the price seemed high so we decided to call a few other places before going with AB. We had another company come out the next morning, the capacitor had exploded (easy to diagnose) he replaced it, total cost (part and labor) $200.00 and unit is working fine. I called AB to let them know of my disappointment as well as request the diagnostic charge refunded, well three phone calls later and still waiting to hear back from someone. Again very prompt when it comes to selling their product, but not so much with customer service. It is a shame the company that Atlas Butler has become. I would never do business with them again nor would I recommend them to anyone
At the advise of Atlas Butler, I replaced my gravity furnace 6 years ago with their EFFICIENCY furnace to SAVE MONEY on my heating bill. The furnace cost $3,800 and came with a 5 year warranty. Well, 5 years and 11 months later - the induction motor blew out - $755.00 (not covered of course). One month after replacement, the furnace not working, they charged me $59.99 for a diagnostic (although all the guy did was replace the filter). Today - THE COLDEST DAY OF THE YEAR -6 degrees (2 weeks later) my house is only 55 degrees although the thermostat is set for 68 degrees. I called them and RAISE TOTAL HELL and said I'm not paying for another diagnostic when the last one was BOGUS! Technician diagnosed the circuit board (before he even opened the furnace and looked at it) cost would be $700 to replace (although the part only costs $200 and would take 10 minutes to install). I sent him on his way because he touched a button and the furnace came on. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER buy an Atlas Butler product. The parts are manufactured by York and by industry standards ARE THE WORST ON THE MARKET according to Sears Heating and Cooling!
How can spending $1,400 to fix a relatively new furnace possibly be EFFICIENT for me? I should have kept my 50 year old gravity furnace!

Called Atlas Butler to repair my GFA heating system that was not working properly. I was told there would be an $89 fee just to come out and diagnose the problem...OK. I then requested their hourly rate and was told I would receive a quote before any work would be completed, I asked again...no labor rates were provided...Big Problem!
The technician arrives, diagnosis the problem (incorrectly) and tells me it would be $200 to fix on a flat rate, meaning parts & labor. I said OK. He replaced the part and it did not fix the problem. He continued to diagnose and later told me my circuit board was bad. He told me it was a Class 4 repair...WHAT? He shows me a list of items that fall under CLASS 4 and circuit board was one of a dozen. I asked how much is the part and how much is labor...same response, flat rate of $879!
I told him to replace my original $200 part (which was causing now part of the problem. So now I am back to the way it was and out $89.
I called a referral from my neighbor (licensed HVAC Contractor) he came out and fixed the problem (drywall dust in my thermostat...nothing to do with the circuit board or the $200 part). I was charged $150, which I gladly paid.
Heed the advice of so many other customers...Do Not use Atlas Butler!

This company the is the worst !!! 3 years ago my elderly father used them to check out the smell of gas. They said he had a cracked heat exchanger and needed a new furnace immediately (not verified, and the #1 reason given for questionable repairs) They sold him the worst and cheapest furnace (york) at the price of an exceptional furnace. When I came to visit, I saw the furnace was improperly installed, called them ,and they fixed the issue. I said I smelled gas. I finally called the gas company who immediately shut off the gas due to the high concentration- his gas lines were so corroded that you see daylight through one. I had all gas lines replaced by another company. How did this even pass an inspection? The gas company said he probably did not need a new furnace in the first place , the issue was with his gas lines. Yet he was sold an inferior product which was installed improperly, does not work as well as his old furnace, and nowthe inducer motor is burned out and needs to be replaced after 3 years!
First I was told there is only a one year warranty, and it would be almost $800 to repair After saying I have never heard of any furnace having a 1 year warranty, calling management, loudly complaining, I was told that in fact there is in fact a 10 year warranty on parts. Now the repair can be done for $389, and they are giving me the $560 part for free. And how long will the repair take? Between 10 minutes and @ hours This company should be avoided at all costs!! because it will cost you BIG TIME

They tried to charge me for 2 diagnostics and $342 for a capacitor. I have been a club member for 3 years and this Saturday they came out and quoted me $595 to replace a capacitor. Just so people know it is a common part to go bad and costs about $12 online. There are many videos on YouTube to teach you how to properly change it. Make sure all power is off and wires are on correctly. 10 minute job. They changed one for me 3 years ago and charged me about $365 with diagnostic. I got the run around about an estimate and the guy wouldn't tell me everything he needed to do just that the $595 would come of the price of a new unit. I told him I wouldn't pay $600 for that repair and he asked how much I would pay. Because it was a holiday it took me three days of 90 degree weather until I could get the part, but fixing it for $12, was more satisfying. I really don't understand where they get charging 2 diagnostic services for one visit and the guy was only here for 15 minutes. I'm writing this review after finally getting the estimate in the mail. I suggest finding someone smaller and trust worthy. Read reviews and ask people for recommendations before calling atlas butler.

Not recommended. They overcharged and upsold worthless upgrades. Felt they did not have our best interests in mind.
After having an Atlas Butler repairman come out to inspect three furnaces on our property, we were told that they were all in working order and ok to use except for an obviously leaky exhaust pipe on one of the furnace units. Cost $166 - despite their attempt to charge us for the 'drive time' of their repairman (original bill was ~$300!).
Two weeks later, I asked them to come back out and move one of the units (in a garage space) as we were planning a renovation and needed the unit moved ten feet. Once the guys had already disconnected the electric, exhaust, and gas line they were ready to cut the unit from its connection in the ceiling and found multiple, large (I could put my finger through these) holes in the heat exchanger. In other words, the unit had been leaking carbon monoxide on a large scale! Hence, the 'inspection' we had completed two weeks previously was obviously NOT complete and erroneous! I would have thought they would have been understanding that their repairman did not do a complete inspection and have refused to refund our money from the first inspection - saying that two of the units may not be working properly (you think?!) but that they assured me the third was completely 'fine'. How they can determine this when in fact one of the units is obviously not fine. I find this hard to believe and am absolutely 100% dissatisfied with their service and cannot trust their previous inspection of ANY of the units!
On top of this, they said they would be happy to ONLY charge me parts and labor to install a new unit in the garage space. When asked for a quote, they said the hanging unit would be $1800!! for a 100,000BTU unit (plus labor). After multiple attempts to ask for a discount on the unit, given the previous erroneous 'inspection', I was told this was the cheapest they could sell the unit for. I quickly called another furnace dealer (at the suggestion of one of the Atlas Butler guys who was there to move the unit - HA! their own repairman was advising me NOT to buy a furnace from Atlas Butler) and was given a price of $770 for another, similar new 100K BTU unit.
As I have recounted this story to friends, I was not surprised to hear that they too have had bad service and over priced quotes from this company.
Steer clear of Atlas Butler!
Do not use this company....many choices out in the Central Ohio area that are professional and not nearly as expensive. I had their supervisor come out to my home for an estimate for duct cleaning....He took 45 min to review the house vents and furnance....He indicated that it take 2 men all day...$550+....2 wks later their service guy shows up and was not given any details about the job....and only one guy...He walked around and kept saying wow...no one told me this....Oh....never saw this before....I finally asked why did they send only one person out to do this job...he replied...Oh, this happens all the time....they never give us enough info...and we complain about this type of thing all the time....Reluctantly, I cancel the job on the site...What a bunch of idiots....

Complete rip-off from Atlas Butler!!!
My AC wasn't cooling. The repair man from atlas butler charged us $89 service fee, $369 Freon filling (less than two pound). We let AC running for three hours, not a single degree dropped. We called the company but told to give another day or two. We let the AC run nonstop for another two days saw no difference. The office told us they would send the service man without charge. The service man came and spent an hour checking, but couldn't find anything major, instead he recommend us for a new AC unit for a bigger capacity. He mentioned if we purchase a new unit from their company, the money we spent on the repair can be deducted. The company's practice is to cheat their customer to spend more money on a new unit!!!! What's worse, he charged another $89, he said on his work order, it marked it was up to him to charge or not. After many calls with their service manager, the service fee was waived, but the service manager angrily told us not calling them again for our future service needs! Atlas butler didn't fix our problem, overcharged and very rude to the customers. Such a rip-off company, from their field service man to their manager.
This is the first time I write a review about a business service I used. This doesn't mean that I am always pleased with the services I have requested but my experience with Atlas Butler Heating & Cooling is by far the worst I've had. I bought a club membership with Atlas Butler so they can come fix any issues promptly when needed and to get a discount on the labor and material. One of their technicians came on February to fix a minor problem with the heater, which he did, then recommended that I replace my water heater soon because the bottom is rusted and might cause leaks. He gave me a club member estimate around $1200 to replace my short 40 gallons water heater. Since it was not leaking at the time, I decided to wait on replacing it. 4 months later, the water heater started leaking, so I called Atlas Butler immediately and asked them to send someone to stop the leak and replace the water heater. I told them about the estimate that their technician gave me and that I was willing to pay that. They told me they would have the same technician call me to schedule the work. An hour later, the technician called me to let me know that his estimate back in February is no longer accurate because of some new government regulations and that I would have to pay a little over $2100 to get my water heater replaced. He added that the price is a club member price and that it would cost me even more than that if I weren't a club member. I told the guy that I would have to think about it and that for now all I want is that they send someone to fix the leak problem. He refused to come or send someone because he said there was nothing he could do if the leak is from the bottom. I felt taken advantage of big time but I refused to give in to their price gouging and immediately called another company. They came the following day and did the work for $958. I called Atlas Butler customer service to cancel my membership and I was told that I would have to pay a fee of $145. Their membership discount is just a scam to make their customers feel that they are getting a good deal but in reality, they charge them way more than the market value. I do not recommend doing business with this company. They are dishonest and do not value their customers.
