First I'll say that it's really rare and hard for me to write a negative review. I am usually on Yelp out of excitement about sharing a good experience. Not the case here. However, as a business owner, I would want to know these thing about my business to help improve.

I had a clogged main drain at my business stuck with processed food. I worked with a manual drain auger all week with no avail. I knew Apollo by name so I called them. They said they would be out the next morning between 9-12am. Great. No problem.

I get a call the next morning at 8am telling me they will be there in about 10mins. No problem. I just said that it takes me about 30mins to get there and I'll leave now. Almost at my shop and I get another call saying they wouldn't be there until 2pm. Confused I questioned the previous call I had. Which is why I left my home so early to get there. They had no recollection of that call. So after arguing they told me they would get someone out at 10am. I leave specific instructions on how to get to our business with the dispatcher to give to the driver.

The driver then calls me at 10:30 and says he didn't listen to the dispatcher and he was lost. After walking around the drain for literally 2 mins, he said a mechanical auger wouldn't fix it and I would need a $1700 wet jetter to fix the clog. I insisted he try the mechanics auger and he said it was a waste of time. So I was charged $80 for a 4 min visit and he left.

I went to the nearest equipment rental place, paid them $35 for a mechanical auger, and had the drain fixed in an hour. Now I know to do it myself.

All in all. Just bad customer service and ultimately bad service.

Our water heater failed and used Apollo for replacement and installation.  They were timely and procedure was done immediately.  After review of billing invoice I noticed exorbitant prices for a new shutoff valves and a pan.  The water heater charge for installing and purchase of heater was $1199.  The cost of a water valve replacement was $562 and the gas valve replacement was $473.  The pan was $166.  After checking prices on the valves and pan from various plumbing supply dealers the actual prices for all three were less than $150.  That's $1051 for labor.  Totally overcharged.  The whole project took less than  4 hours.

This company was hired by the previous home owner to make a plumbing repair (leaky pipe near master tub) that was conditional to us buying the house. We have used that tub once since buying the house, and there is a water spot exactly where it was during our walk-though. I called Apollo to find out if they guarantee their work. According to the first customer service rep I spoke with, they no not guarantee their work, and it would be a 79 dollar fee to come look at what they didn't do properly the first time.
EDIT! About an hour after writing this review (unsure if there's a connection), a representative called me back. They are waving the appointment fee to get a plumber out to us to inspect their work, and make sure there wasn't fault with what they did, of if there's another factor at play.  What I was upset with was the unwillingness to verify that, which the company is now going to remedy.

I called Apollo because I was having furnace problems on a very cold day on a Saturday. The first person that they sent was ethical and did not try to upsell me. I needed a follow up service on the next day (Sunday). The second person that they sent tried to upsell me. Among other things, he tried to sell me a replacement three inch rubber drain tube for $441 for the part plus $54 for labor. I took out the drain tube myself in about a minute and replaced it with a generic rubber tube ($1.58) from an auto parts store. An exact, original manufacturer replacement part, from the Internet costs $10.12.

I did have Apollo install a new water heater and water softener in my home in Jan 2016. In order to save a larger amount of money, I signed up for the year of the basic care plan, which is $9.99 a month. The only reason I did this was to save more money at the time. I have never used this care plan, as it only applied to heating & cooling inspection, and I already have a reliable and honest company who takes care of that.
Needless to say, when I then was looking for a company to install a kitchen faucet, just replacing an older model, I called Apollo. Should have known it would be ridiculous, like many companies today.
Charging a trip charge to come out, only to give a cost as to what they charge to install a faucet once they are here. I mean, so you pay to just have someone drive out, and if they end up charging a ridiculous fee, way more than another company, would you just end up paying Apollo because you're already in the hole for the trip fee???? Or would you pay a trip charge, and then have to contact another company who may have charged a more reasonable fee?? Like other companies I contacted, this is just such a racket. Anywhere from $65-69 for a trip charge. This isn't some complicated job, just remove the old faucet and put in the new one. If I felt like it, I would do it myself.
So thankfully, I remembered that when I purchased my faucet on Amazon, they have service installation offered. No trip charge, just a straightforward price. Bam!!! Sold!!!
My year of the care plan is up this month, Jan 2017, and I have already contacted Apollo and told them not to renew, as it is useless.
It's best to do the research and find companies that are upfront.

Called Apollo because I had a main sewer backup.   Adam Hanekamp came out at 1am and fixed the problem.  They called the next day to schedule a free camera inspection.  Another guy came out and let me watch as they ran the camera.  The line looked good and the guy was done and gone in about 30mins.  Both of the Apollo representatives were friendly and very professional.  I would recommend this company to family and friends.

I requested a quote from Apollo Home to install a toilet seat-attached bidet. I pay a monthly fee to be a member and get a 15% discounted price on services. Apollo quoted $650. I went online to Home Advisor, who quoted $134!  Had the Home Advisor contractor here today. He did a great job and finished in about 1.5 hours. At Apollo's quoted price, they would have charged $433 per hour for the same service.that I got from Home Advisor for less than $90 per hour, making Apollo's quoted price (WITH MY 15% DISCOUNT) almost 5 times that of Home Advisor!  I saved over $500 with great service and clean installation from Home Advisor.

I hired this company to fix a gas leak at my fathers house.
The technician showed up as scheduled and acted in a polite manner.
He performed a leak check for $1,500 and told me that he will need $7,200 more in order to fix the leak.
I asked him to leave the property.
I hired another company to fix the problem. That technician spent 8 hours at the house and fix the leaks. I was charged a total of $2,800 to include two leak checks.
I was forced to pay $1,500 to get the Apollo technician out of the house. In retrospect, I should have called the police and told them that I was being robbed.
Unless you want your wallet to be emptied out I would avoid this company like the plague.

I've had nothing but bad experiences with Apollo over the past year. Moved to a new home and had multiple projects to be done, such as installing a current/modern dryer outlet. They ran a new wire from my fuse box and installed the outlet leaving the old one in place. By the time I had a new dryer I noticed the plug doesn't fit. I had to take pictures to Lowe's and have a random clerk tell me that's a RANGE plug for stoves/ovens. Whoops.

I recommend avoiding Apollo. On top of aggressively trying to upsell me on projects I don't need, they tend to send electricians that make rookie mistakes. I did have one staffer work on my prior home and she was great, but I've asked for her multiple times and she's always booked, so they send the lesser experienced staff. In the past year I've had multiple visits from Apollo, and not one project has been completed correctly or without problems. My year under their VIP plan is up, I'm moving on.

They can't even manage a work calendar properly. Their scheduling is unprofessional, incompetent, and they brag about their 100 hours of training per year.

That's less than two hours a week. Not impressive, and in fact it's kind of embarrassing to mention.

If you work with these people, you better be prepared to ride their butt and call every day to make sure that they didn't mess up that very first basic question of when will they show up?

Had a bad experience twice.  I have used them about 4 times.  Two times they seemed experienced and like they knew what they were doing.  Two other times they absolutely didn't know what they were doing.  Also, I believe they upcharge.  I would defintely get another bid.  I will not use them again.

Asked them to Re-install a toilet and a pedestal sink in 1/2 bath after having hardwood floors refinished.  charged me $85 to come to the house (fine, no issue with that) then quoted me $1500 to do the work.  When pressed they could only explain the charge the same amount for every job regardless of the actual work involved.  Asked for my $85 back b/c of the absurd quote and was refused.  Found a reputable company to do the work for $500.  Stay far away from these clowns.

I was asked by customer service to delete my original review but I'm reposting it because people deserve to understand what value (or lack thereof) they get for their money. I called Apollo last month when a drain in my basement backed up. Before they came over, I spent about 2 hours cleaning it up. When they showed up, they told me to empty the tub, run my bathroom sink and flush the toilet. I told them I was worried about doing so because if there was a clog, it would back the drain up again, but they told me it should be fine, and, of course, it flooded again, making the cleaning I did that morning completely pointless. They asked to use my shopvac to clean it up and I allowed them to because I figured they must not have one of their own, and I wanted my basement clean again. That shopvac won't run properly now. When they ran a camera through my sewage line, I learned I needed to get it replaced because it was collapsing in my front yard. I made an appointment to have it excavated/replaced. I was working the day of the appointment and when I got home I found that my basement had been flooded with muddy brown water, far worse than the 2 previous times. Come to find out, they hit my WATER line when excavating my sewage line, and no one from Apollo bothered to tell me about it. They did send a restoration crew to clean it though. I only found out because of the flood and because I called to complain. Last year, I got the bushes ripped out on the front of my house and had them completely replaced with mulch beds and landscape stones. A large potion of the mulch bed was destroyed. I understand that was unavoidable, but you can see in the pictures what my entire yard looked like afterward even though I was told I would only have a mound of dirt directly over where the sewage line was that I'd have to worry about leveling out. I did call and complain about all this and the person I spoke to on the phone said they were going to have a landscaper come out and fix it around the end of March/beginning of April. I called a few days ago to ask why it hadn't been fixed yet and they said they had someone scheduled to come out in MAY... I also complained that I could still hear my pipes making gurgling noises which I was told was an indication of the collapsing sewage line that I already had completely replaced. They were trying to schedule a time to come back out and look at it AGAIN, but I chose to ignore them after a day because at this point, I am seriously traumatized by the stress this company has caused me. After dealing with them this most recent time, it threw me into a panic attack where I couldn't function. I just want all of this to be over with and I can't handle it anymore. On top of that, I decided to go out to my yard today to try to level down the mound of dirt to little avail, although I did find massive pieces of my old broken pipe strewn throughout all the dirt. I know they're offering to fix this, but at this point, like I said, I am so upset with them that I do not even want to talk to them on the phone or see them because it stresses me out to deal with them so badly. I live alone and work long hours and trying to undo what they did is going to use the majority of my free time this spring. So if you have any respect for your property and your home, do not hire Apollo. Thanks for offering to fix these issues but it's too little too late.
EDIT: After posting this, I went back outside and my neighbors came out to help. 3 adults, a total of about 3 hours of work with a tiller, shovels and iron rakes and we barely put a dent in it. They said they were home watching during the excavation and asked themselves why Apollo wasn't hauling any of this dirt away. Good question! You know the work is beyond unacceptable when people who weren't even involved can look at my yard and tell me to my face that it looks horrible and that they can't believe it was left in such horrible condition. If you're gonna fix my yard, just show up and do it because I can't handle speaking to you all anymore. I'll take this down if it gets done.

We had Apollo come out for routine maintenance.  While they were polite and professional, they told us our heat exchanger was totally corroded and it would be a $3600 repair, or we should probably just purchase a new furnace for $10K as our furnace was getting old.
I had 3 other companies come out to give a second opinion and all 3 said that there was absolutely NOTHING wrong with the heat exchanger or the furnace itself.  Apollo flat out lied and left us without heat as they shut off our furnace until we made a decision.

My mother who is 87 and partially deaf had a leak in her pipes in the ceiling above the living room which made her sink and shower not able to be used. My mom got in touch with Apollo Home they immediately started setting an appointment and estimates and invoices without even inquiring if she had insurance.  When I (her daughter) who lives in another state got wind and got involved they were attempting to charge $10,325.47! I called and told them they were wrong for taking advantage of an elder woman and the rate was triple what the insurance company estimated it.  I cancelled the appointment and told them not to contact my  mom again.

I've not been disappointed yet with Apollo. Thanks today to Antonio W and helper Eric for my regular AC checkup. They were courteous throughout, despite spending more time here than anticipated due to blown fuses in the AC system. ... Apollo also sent out a plumber, Victor, for that annual service check on the same day, at around the same time, which saved me the inconvenience of staying home for separate appointments. Victor also was courteous and did a complete job.

Update, June 2015. I have canceled twice-yearly service with Apollo, as the company failed to properly address a faulty, overly confusing (and, as it turns out, overpriced) thermostat that it had installed. It tried to claim the batteries were the issue, when the unit clearly had a short. Apollo also tried to push its other services, such as the handyman, when it has become increasingly unreliable in his core HVAC segment. I'd knock my rating down to 1 or 2 stars.

I was hesitant to use Apollo at first due to other Yelp reviews. Then I realized that all companies offering services like theirs receive terrible reviews probably due to the work they do to household systems that are a huge inconvenience when they break and very costly to fix or repair. My HVAC system failed and Apollo was first to return my call at 7am. I was able to get a repairman from a different company to look at my system quicker but they basically told me that my system is trashed and I should only look at replacement at ~$12k replacement. Ricky from Apollo walked me through what was wrong and why it was unsafe to operate while explaining several different repair options that I determined would just nurse along my 30 year old unit and then he got the new system salesman Danny out to my house within minutes. Danny walked through the whole job with me and explained my options. He understood that he was catching me on a day where I woke up not expecting to have to spend large amounts of money just so me and family could feel comfortable. I was able to have two other quotes before I signed off on this job but my decision was made because they were able to complete the job next day for whole new system and were able to give me fixed upfront pricing where as others were just quotes. They helped me with my new thermostat and ensured I was satisfied before they left. They will be my first call next time!

As you can see from the reviews on this page, 95% of the time Apollo is great. It's the other 5% you have to watch out for. I used Apollo for over 15 years and for the most part was very satisfied. That is until about a year ago when I called them to fix a main sewer line clog. The first guy they sent tried to unclog it with a mechanical auger and got nowhere but charged me $300. They then sent a technician with a high powered water jet auger and was finally able to clear out the tree roots that was the cause of the problem. He charged me $1700 for a total of $2000! Yeah, I know, I'm an idiot for paying that much but when you have a clogged main drain and you trust the plumber you're inclined to go along. Two days ago I got an email ad from Apollo advertising the exact same procedure, unclog your main line for $93!! or it's FREE! What the...!
When I called Apollo to get an explanation the service writer said, well, um..., the equipment and procedure has been improved so we can charge less. $1907 less! BS! He then said he would have someone call me with a better explanation. Haven't heard from them. Don't expect to. And they should not expect to hear from me either, ever, again...
(If you do fall for the $93 main line charge beware additional charges. They also wanted to fix a couple of cracks in my main line - for $7000. Better than digging up your yard you know...)

Apollo home gave us a quote for jet blasting three pipes for four hours. First, they forgot about our appointment, showed up late, only spent an hour, and then only jet blasted two pipes with zero results and no solution. They proceeded to ignore my calls all week, despite multiple people promising to return my call. This is the worst customer service I've ever experienced in Cincinnati. Also, the first person to come and give an assessment and quote for the work was disingenuous in recommending the jet blasting; the servicemen who came to do the work said multiple times, yeah, this isn't going to work, and nothing came out of your kitchen pipe, so the recommended work wasn't necessary or advisable. Don't trust this company.

Warning:  I do not trust this contractor to inspect my furnace again.  Despite the city inspector allowing the homeowner to keep the furnace on, this contractor shut mine off and immediately informed me of their own comfort counselors who are ready to sell me a new, over-priced system.  It was 13 degrees outside when they did this.  I felt duress to buy a system from them late on a Saturday afternoon this winter to protect my pipes and hardwood floors.

The following Tuesday, the installation was terrible.  They left a mess: pvc glue on washer/dryer, abandoned tools, screws on floor, sharp vent edges exposed and untaped, sloppy concrete applied to vent pipes at window, and installed humidifier to the wrong water line which I ultimately figured out after calling humidifier manufacturer.  My installation failed city inspection.

I should not have let them near my furnace under the auspices of their care plan.  I wish I called the city inspector for advice before even calling this contractor.

Given my experience, I called and spoke to the management of this company.  He said they will continue the practice of shutting down furnaces despite my pleas for them to apply more discretion.

I should say that this contractor made no less than 5 warranty calls to my house to fix all the discrepancies at no charge.  I finally passed inspection.  However, I experienced far more anxiety than I was prepared for for this purchase.

I purchased a ductless air condition unit through Apollo Heating and Cooling based on their recommendation December 2016. In addition to the unit, I signed up for an Apollo Care Plan. My unit stopped working this month and I called regarding service. I am filing several complaints around this situation: the initial sale of the unit, their upsell of the Care Plan, failure to communicate their change of service and finally the Customer Service.
When I first called I was told they no longer service ductless air condition units. As I pressed further I was alerted they stopped servicing them in 2017, a month AFTER I purchased the unit. Three issues, if I had known they would no longer service the unit I would not have purchased in the first place. Secondly, it was deceptive to sell the Care Plan to me, knowing it was no longer going to be covered. Finally, I was never alerted the Care Plan was no longer servicing the ductless unit and the unit has not been inspected for 3 years now. Each of these instances are in bad faith.
When I called back Apollo to inquire about the change and to discuss a cancellation and refund of the Care Plan, I was disconnected twice. I do not believe this was a coincidence.

I would like to warn everybody out there to do your homework before hiring this company for any type of work. Last winter they came out for the free maintenance on the furnace and ended up red tagging it and shutting it off and telling me that my furnace needed to be replaced or repaired. I spent my own money and hired a different company to look at it and was told by the gentleman with 30 years experience that there was nothing wrong with my furnace and he took the tag off and turned it back on with my permission. I also purchased a brand-new air conditioning unit through Apollo January 2021. Last summer wasn't as hot as it is this summer and I rarely used it. I am a senior citizen on Social Security and I have health issues and have to watch my budget strictly. on June 3, 2022 there senior technician came out on a follow up call from June 1 because my air conditioning was not working. It was determined that I needed a new compressor( which are supposed to last 10 to 15 years) . he also stated in his invoice that my condenser coil was dirty and plugged up and that he cleaned it out for me. I took the covers off and found the coil to be disgustingly filthy, went to Home Depot to buy the cleaning product and spent the afternoon cleaning it myself. I also sent Apollo eight photographs I took of the filthy coil. They informed me that their technician provided them with pictures of the cleaned coil. So in other words, they were calling me a liar. On top of all of this they informed me that they would charge me $1000 for labor to replace the compressor because the 10 year warranty was only for parts. Needless to say I will not be doing this. Here it is June 20 and I still don't have a running air conditioning unit. I have had to again go through a different company and because of the backlog it's taking a few days. I have also spoken with a few other people that I've had very bad experiences with Apollo. I encourage everyone that has to post a review on yelp. If they really want to make this right, they can replace the compressor cost free, but at this point it's too late for all of this because I have already had that conversation with the office  and they are not interested or willing.

The good :
(1) showed up on time (2) Friendly & competent Tech (3) fixed problem

The Bad (1) overcharged: replaced $50.00 shower controller and 2 hour labor for $350.00 is excessive.
(2) Called me and said wash machine hoses need to be replaced. Hoses cost $ 20.00 charged over $100.00 for replacement. Left message for supervisor to call me. No response.

This should have been a $200.00 to $250.00 repair. I see a pattern in what they do.

This company has never arrived for the appointment on time. And when I say this I mean they are never within 2 hours of when they say they will be there. I always schedule the first apt of day and that means for Apollo 9:00 am but they always show up between 10:30-11:00 am. This has happened the last 5 apts and every time they say it was traffic blah blah blah. Use another company!!!!

I hired Apollo a few times over the years for plumbing, HVAC, and electrical. They do a good job, but be prepared to pay a lot.

I needed a trenchless sewer repair, they had pretty decent price compared to other businesses. Maybe because other businesses also charge a lot since this is such a specialized task that requires special equipment and knowledge. They did a great job!

I needed a 1/2 water valve replaced, the plumber said it was going to cost over $2000. I did it myself, it only took a few hours with some wrenches and compression fittings.

I wanted a shutoff valve added in-line with my main shutoff valve (which is still good and operational but I wanted a ball valve after it instead of relying on old shutoff valve), they said over $500 to add a single ball-valve on a 3/4 inch tube. It's a 15 minute job.

I needed HVAC replaced, I paid a lot. They did a great job!

I needed a new electrical receptacle installed, fairly straightforward. They gave me quote for almost triple the cost of what a different (still very reputable) electrician company charged to do the exact same job. $450 vs $1200 is a big difference!

Bottom line, while they did a decent job, they consistently overcharge, sometimes ridiculous amounts. I do not recommend.

Apollo has a pattern of price gouging that leaves one to assume it's a company policy to maximize the price charged per tech visit.  Get a second quote from a competitor to prove it.

Per the annual service agreement, I recently had Apollo come out for the AC tune-up and inspection.  The service technician was thorough and did a nice job overall, but he did notice that the dual capacitor on the compressor was starting to fail and recommended a new one.  He also recommended installing a hard start compressor saver.  Relying on their professional recommendation, I agreed to the work.  However, upon receiving the invoice,  I decided to check the cost of the parts (which were NOT cheap per their pricing) and found that these were actually easily available parts and cost a fraction of what Apollo charged.  Upon questioning their pricing, they stated this was part of their quick response service.  However, there was no quick response required (part of standard maintenance trip) and it took the technician only 15 minutes to install.  I expect a 10 to 15 percent markup on materials, but not several hundred percent.  Apollo agreed to refund me 15 percent of cost, but not nearly the amount needed to make things right.

Called Apollo for a broken water heater. They came out as directed. Without any diagnostics they started pointing and saying what was broke.  Then gave a quote of $2995 to replace it. I had already talked to a competitor over the phone to get a rough estimate. It was $2200 installed. I told the Apollo guys that. Oh we can take off another $250.  Still cheaper with Halpin. I told the guys I needed to make some calls so they waited out side.

After about 10 minutes I went out and said I couldn't make a decision now and I'd call the office. They said ok that will be $79. I told them I was never notified of that and they said they had to call the office. When they call the office they listened to my call to verify. They were visibly upset that they weren't getting the $79.

I was told that these we're commission based plumber, but couldn't believe it.

Unreal. Don't trust this company.

This is probably the worst choice you could make for repair work. I had them come in and route a kitchen sink and it cost $300, then 5 days later it stopped up again. When I called them they advised me that the don't warranty their drain cleaning unless you buy their most expensive package. But they were willing to come back out and charge me an $300 additional dollars to clean it out. Absolutely the worst customer service I've experienced. But I guess they have to pay for their ad campaign somehow.

Our water heater went out.  It was a Sunday morning. After trying some simple fixes unsuccessfully, I called Apollo since they came up in a google search and I was familiar with the name.  They charged me $79 dollars to come out and tell me they were going to try the same simple fixes that I tried.  I felt good about the fact that I had enough knowledge to at least try the simple things. I guess in a way it made the $79 a little easier to swallow. Then they told me it had to be a bad controller. I asked them if there any other diagnostics tests to figure out the problem. Of course, he said no.  Not sure if that was true, but he told me that to replace the controller it would cost $1300 dollars and take about 4-5 days to get the part. (So 4-5 days without hot water...which my wife was not pleased to hear) I then said what if it's not the controller? He told me that the only other thing to do was replace the water heater. He quoted me $3500 to replace my water heater.  So I was going to have to spend $1300 to do a fix that might not even work? And then I would have to replace the water heater? I had already looked up the part on the Internet and it was about $200. I also looked up the exact same water heater from Home Depot and it cost about 1200 dollars (I had a 75 gallon heater in my house which was larger than I really needed). The guy from Apollo quoted me $3500 for a 50 gallon tank and $4500 for the 75 gallon tank. He told my wife and I that if we placed the order right then, he was sure they could get it done the next day. Needless to say, I told him I had to think about it. Then I started doing some more research on the Internet. My wife also posted something on Next Door and we were able to get in touch with somebody from Recker and Boerger.  They quoted me $1300 for the exact same 50 gallon water heater that Apollo quoted me $3500 for.   I was able to get in touch with them first thing Monday morning and they were able to do it same day. Talk about a lifesaver. The moral of the story is, I will never call Apollo again about any of my issues.  This all happened about three weeks ago. The other day a customer service representative from Apollo called me. I gave her that exact same feedback about their price gouging and she even admitted that she had gotten similar feedback from other folks she had been calling.  She tried to tell me that they pay their service repairmen better than other companies and that you do pay a premium for experienced folks. I wanted to laugh out loud on the phone (but didn't) and told her that paying 3x as much was definitely not worth it. Maybe 10 to 15% and I would've gone with it but that quote was absolutely outrageous. Don't know if they'll take the Feedback seriously but apparently a lot of their techs also get incentivized for selling services. My guess is they have the ability to quote their own prices and probably get a commission off of sales. Thank goodness I wasn't some 80-year-old person who didn't know any better and didn't do my due diligence.

We had a very positive experience with Apollo Home. Sadly, a home inspection found major issues with our sewer line. Apollo Home was very responsive, checking our line, sharing the video results with us and telling us what options we had. We chose them to place thread a durable liner through our line to block the roots from mature trees in our yard that could cause major flooding in our basement. Apollo Home arrived on time, understood our concerns about our cats getting out, made sure they couldn't and when their work revealed a major fix they would need to do above and beyond what they had figured needed done, they honored our original estimate. They employ a fantastic contractor, too, who did all the stuff beyond the plumbing that needed doing and he did it expertly. The entire team was neat, polite and did a great job.

We needed some quick plumbing work done fast for another installer so we accepted their quote. However, it is ridiculously expensive for the work. For us it was $532.74 for a 1/2 to 3/8 valve adapter install that took about 15 minutes. We accepted the quote due to our need to have it installed sooner rather than later and due to them already going to charge us a visit fee, but it was not ideal. We did call and got a $79 refund which should be on its way, however, they hide behind the we charge fixed pricing in order to overcharge their customers for service. It was in no way worth even the discounted amount other than it was needed fast. The service was great, I will admit that, but you can easily get comparable service for half their cost.

Our 6 month old water heaters control panel went out. I called Apollo Home. Because they work on Rheam water heaters. Because we did not purchase the water heater from them they would not even talk to me about it. I explained my 87 year old mother lived with us and we need hot water. With covid 19 and needing to wash your hands with warm water you would think they may have some concern. They have none.

My AC stopped working on Wednesday. I had Apollo take a look and they were extremely adamant that the best course of action would be to replace the unit because it was improperly installed, had a leak and it would be more economical to just replace it versus repairing it. They recommended replacing the furnace as well for a total of 10-12k.  I was near tears! I was also skeptical because the unit was only seven years old. So I got on yelp and Apollo had a 2 star rating. United heating and plumbing had a 5 star rating so I called him for a second opinion. Matt was amazing, ethical, caring and helped me to diagnose the issue and got my AC working over the phone! I had him service the unit just in case and he was wonderful. My total bill was $208!   When I called he immediately listed off issues it could be and suggested that some companies use a scare/savior approach. He said they give you worst case scenarios and then save you by saying they can replace the unit the next day. That is exactly what happened!! He suggested maintaining the unit with small repairs and making it last as long as possible before spending the money to replace it. I would highly recommend him if anyone has any issues. I am appalled during these times that Apollo would put me at such a financial risk all for greed. I feel like I had a red bulls eye on my forehead because I was a women. With all the issues I've had with subpar contractors it was so refreshing to have someone actually care about what he does and his customers. I feel like I won the lottery! Whew

Brandy the scheduler is rude! I've spent thousands of dollars with this company, and the customer service is not up to par! Kevin the technician was outside of my home for 5 minutes. They called me once at 8:18 and he was gone by 8:25. Brandy claimed that she called me several times and even had a number on my account tht doesn't belong to me! Again I received one call. We opened the front door, Kevin looked at my sister then drove off! Extremely rude and unprofessional! Not to mention we have been waiting days for this service since the first technician couldn't unclog the toilet with his snake. This is ridiculous and very unprofessional.

Update- after calling back and getting another individual and explaining the story she was very helpful. Kevin came back out within the hour and got the toilet unclogged. Kevin was great, pleasant, and showed empathy unlike Brandi who could obviously care less. Thanks again Kevin you were great. Leaving it at 3 stars for the hassle

I wrote a negative review about Apollo in regards to charging me a lot of money for a problem they didn't fix. They contacted me and we worked it out. They stand by the work they do and I received a refund. I want to thank Mike for taking the time and getting all the details together to make this decision. We came to the agreement that there was some miscommunication about the problem I was having. You can work with Apollo and they will make things right one way or another. Thanks again

This company was hired to fix a few minor issues identified by a home inspector in March 2020. When they came out for quotes, the garbage disposal fix was 5 times higher than it should be. The HVAC person surprisingly found additional fixes needed, despite the home inspector not finding them. That created a quote 10 times higher than original.

Take your pick- price gouging during a pandemic or just regular price gouging to pad their pocketbook.

My thermostat went out around 1115 on a Friday night. I called several heating and air-conditioning companies that advertise 24 hour service. Apollo was one of those. After my initial call I did not receive another call from Apollo. I called several times to check on my service call. I was told they were unable to contact the technician. At 1:20 AM I called Apollo back and canceled my call. I explained I was going to bed. At 7:30 AM the next morning they called. Of course this woke me up since I was up late the night before. I wasn't happy about being jolted awake by a ringing phone and I couldn't understand why they didn't grasp the meaning of a canceled call.
I'm still not sure why they would advertise as being available for 24/7 calls. Please keep this in mind if you decide to use this company.

A super young guy showed up to my house to snake a bathroom drain. He tried for about 5 min and said it was too bad and we'd have to replace the line coming upstairs. They had another guy come out and give me some options, none of which were less than $2,000. I decided to get a second opinion from a local guy. Said he'd like to try snaking it one more time and within 10 minutes it working great and haven't had an issue for 6 months now. Apollo is trying to rip you off and squeeze every last penny. There prices are absolutely insane and many times not even necessary.

Review Edit.  Apollo installed a free humidifier.
Paid over $15,000 for new HVAC a few weeks ago.  As it started getting colder outside, I realized that it was colder upstairs.  A Clermont County inspector came and failed the system.  I called Apollo to have someone come to address the issue the inspector found.  First they told me someone could be here in 6 days. I have the care plan and demanded that they honor the amount of money I have spent.  The extremely rude man I spoke to begrudgingly called me back and booked someone for the next day.  The problem, the heat for upstairs was in the off position.  The inspection failed because my previously working humidifier was no longer working (we were not told).  So the installers just left the connection hanging.  It could have been replaced that day but I wanted a discount for all of the disruption.  No supervisor was available so we asked for a phone call.  Two phone calls to Apollo and no one has bothered to call back or follow up on their mistake!!

Where to begin, where to begin? We have used Apollo in the past and have positive experiences. They are always prompt, professional and amicable. We were having issues with our water backing up into the house - so, we called for Apollo to have them clear the drain. What began as a simple clearing of the drain turned into a plumbing nightmare.
Each step of the way to the eventual conclusion of our experience was made exponentially worse by their inability to clear the drain. After destroying our flower beds and yard they were still unable to fix the problem. After a discussion with one of the managers they offered to refund the portion of the service. The final bill was over $5000. In order to receive the overpayment, I was forced to sign a release. They recommended I seek out another plumber.
We called a plumber who lives in our neighborhood and he came out to have a look - they were able to locate the problem and clear the pipe - they felt so bad for our experience they took $100 off their fee. Total cost $300.

If the Apollo work crew had simply looked at the pipe that was leading out of the house they would have seen the blockage. Instead, they merely replaced the pipe they broke, while excavating our yard, and didn't move the soil back that had been removed. They did send someone out eventually to move the soil back into place. I want to go on the record saying - not once in this entire experience did I raise my voice or cuss anyone out - we started out with a small problem that could have been fixed if the Apollo team had been more determined to solve the problem as cost effectively as possible. It appeared to me that our credit line drove the service they were going to provide.

The only redeeming quality of this entire experience was the Jamaican gentleman who never stopped working and went the extra mile to make us feel better about this debacle. I'd rather have a wisdom tooth removed without the benefit of anesthesia than use this group to fix a drain.

I have been defrauded by this company three times in the past six months. I was overcharged for a water heater/filter and sump pump by over three times and was not even given the option to fix the appliances. Most recently,  I was told I needed to replace my furnace and A/C for $10k during a free tune-up, even though both were working perfectly. I was told the heat exchanger was cracked in the furnace and that the A/C unit was a little low on refrigerant. I had an independent technician inspect both appliances and confirm that neither of these issues existed. Do NOT pay for the Apollo Care Plan, as it is marketed as a yearly service plan but in reality nothing is serviced and it is instead an opportunity for a sales person to come out to your house and fraudulently tell you appliances need to be replaced when they are working perfectly. AVOID! AVOID! AVOID!

I was shopping around for a new air conditioner and came across this horrible company-  I had to fill out a Better Business Bureau report on them.  A nervous salesman named Eric B came to my house with an outlandish quote for a new undersized air conditioner.  He demanded a check from me to make sure he got the sale-also to get the work done asap. He  let me know I had 3 business days to cancel.  In the meantime-a hour later I got a quote from Rupert that was half the price and the right size a/c I needed.  I called this Apollo Eric salesman and he said I could of course cancel -he would rip my check up immediately. To my surprise I found out that my check was run through a hour later and until I called Better Business Bureau they refused to return my funds.  I called the owner and they never sent my funds back for 45 days!!!  They acted like the already put the system in-

We found out our A/C needed to be replaced and two days later Dustin S. with Apollo showed up to do the work.  He arrived on time.  He was careful to cover carpets and floors, move anything that might be in his way as he moved heavy and bulky equipment around.  Installation was done that day and he, in fact, moved some wiring (inside and out) so it would not be on the ground. Before he left, he went over the equipment with me and actually cleaned around the furnace room.  No mess and extremely polite.

Scammed us and left a mess. Had them replace 2 outlets. Both stopped working after they left. Called them and they came back out (said it would be covered by warranty, no extra cost). When they arrived though they told us it wasn't covered and had 2 replace 2 more outlets in order to get the first 2 outlets they broke to work. Installation was sloppy (crooked) and they left trash everywhere they went. My toddler could have easily got ahold of these small pieces if I hadn't found them first. Any other company would be better and cheaper.

Apollo performs mediocre service and uses middle of the road furnaces, but at the top end of price range.  Additionally, they consistently work to up-sell during every service call, giving me the impression that up-selling is primary goal of technicians.

This review doesn't even rate a one star but can't post unless a star is given. Had Apollo out today. Had a $79.00 off coupon to cover the house visit to give us an estimate on installing a ceiling fan with light. Wires were already in the ceiling. Was given a $300-400 bid which was Ridiculous. Said never mind. They said coupon was only good if doing a repair. To me this was not a repair but a new installation. Talked to Brandy who said they had to do a repair for it to apply. Then spoke to a supervisor Kaylin who said the same. Joe showed me on his iPad what they charge for ceiling fan installation, $308.00 plus $79 for the house call. RED FLAG. They may give a free estimate but you are going to have to pay the $79 house visit to give it toSo why did they not tell me yesterday on the phone when I called and asked, How much will this cost? If Joe had the amount then they could have told me also and saved all of us the time and expense by this lousy company. Very shady business practices. Never use Apollo Home.

I had a person come out for a free inspection of heating and cooling system and the system was working just fine before that. The guy checked the system and said everything was working great and everything was in great shape. A week later I turned on my AC and nothing happened it went completely out including my thermostat. I called the company that originally installed the system and they found loose wires and wires touching each other. The other company came in and in a matter of about 10 minutes fixed it and got it running with no cost to us. Not easy to get a hold of Apollo to complain

I needed a sewer line cleaned (Roots) called them they had a special $89 clean out . Tech came out next day ran auger said i was good to go . Then I put garden hose in line run it for a few minutes and it was still clogged. So the tech ran camera down drain and the pic was blurry even as the cam came out of drain ? He ran the auger again then the camera same thing happened.  At this point i was told the best option was to water jet the line starting at $900 dollars i said no. Then the tech said for $1200 they could put a outside clean out (I asked about this before the snake oil show) i paid $89 he left im in worse shape than before. I almost believe he stuffed the pipe with a garbage bag or ? i don't know. My local guy runs the same equipment and always gets the drain clean  he is $150 so i wasted $89 on a scam company (read other reviews) mad i didn't check them out first. Now i got to call my local guy.

Agressive, awful service. I scheduled my Apollo Member furnace tune up and was told there cracks in my furnace (I saw there was) and the technician was extremely unprofessional and aggressively demanded we shut my gas and heat off in the middle of winter without an immediate plan of action. Mind you, my fiancé is DISABLED. He showed no empathy and had zero clue as to when we would be able to turn the gas back on. I asked him to finish up, as I was going to get a second opinion and requested he NOT turn off my heat and gas. He finished up the tune up and came upstairs, did not have us sign anything, and LIED TO US. He said our gas and heat is on. I noticed our house getting significantly colder, I went downstairs to find the furnace OPEN, still dusty (supposed to be wiped down clean in the tune up) and the electric and gas TURNED OFF TO MY FURNACE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE WINTER, WITHOUT A RED TAG. We were lied to. Apollo turns gas and heat off on disabled people and lies about it. They do not follow state protocol. This company is to not be trusted. They are just awful.

I have had my ups and downs with Apollo over the years but my most recent interaction was positive.  They had installed a home dehumidifier several years ago that stopped working this spring--the coils ruptured.  The device was out of warranty and the manufacturer had discontinued the model and stopped supplying replacement parts.  They agreed that it was unfair to have to pay full price for a new unit after only 3-4 years and worked something out with the manufacturer.  They installed a replacement quickly.  I greatly appreciated their standing behind their prior work.

Our heat recently went out and with temperatures so low we immediately called Apollo since it was 24 hours, and one of the first options to come up on a Google search. They were quick to set-up an appointment and a tech was out in a decent amount of time.

My issue with Apollo is the fact that they told us we had a Freon leak and needed to replace our entire unit at  a quoted price of around $8,000 (it was $10,000 first). Also, they unplugged the outside unit without our knowledge or permission. My dad immediately noticed when he arrived and plugged everything back in and magically the temperature in the house started to rise. Part of me wonders if they did this to add to my desperation so I would fork over the absurd amount of money they were asking for. Our unit is older, but by no means at this point do I believe it's as far gone as their so highly trained techs claim it to be.

We of course called two more businesses for second opinions , and were told it was simply a dirty coil. Also, we were told that there wasn't even a way of checking anything else until the coil had been cleaned, so the diagnosis of a leak was inaccurate because the coil would be the first priority before they could assess anything else. After cleaning the coil and recommending a larger filter, there was no leak to be found or any other issues. Less than 40 minutes and $300 later we had heat, and an honest company we purchased a service plan through and who we will continue to do business with.

I'm not sure if the individuals we worked with through Apollo had no clue what they were doing, or if they're simply crooks trying to take advantage of younger, first-time home buyers. Either way I will not be recommending their services to anyone.

Absolutely the worst experience of my life: they created a problem, terrorized me over the nature and severity of the problem, before presenting me with an invoice (and some sort of monthly loan to pay it off), that was off by a factor of 2X from 2 other companies. They charged me $200+ to make a dubious problem worse than they found it, never completing the work I was billed for and paid.

If you use them, get other bids for whatever work  they propose.

Their $89.00 drain opening coupon is just to get them inside your house. When I called them and explained  my problem explicitly, an employee scheduled the appointment. Within hours Apollo was here and before he examined my complaint he started telling me that he would have to possibly have to remove my toilet to the tune of $300 or more. I reminded him of their drain opening $89 coupon he told me that didn't include this problem that he couldn't open up my floor drain without removing my toilet. Needless to say I felt scammed and refused to let him do it. This is the second time I've had a problem with Apollo heating and Ac, the first was with my furnace. Apollo won't get a chance ever again to scam me and I'll steer everyone I can away from them.

Last week we had Apollo come out to fix a capacitor on our AC unit. Which we knew how much this cost due to family member in the business. This part, at most cost them $75. We were charged for the part alone 509.61. That did not include labor which was 60 for an hour when the service tech was here for 45 minutes. They were so kind to wave our trip fee (sense sarcasm). When I asked for an itemized statement they sent me a statement with a lump sum break down. When I called to question my bill and what I was charged. Kendall in the resolutions department told me that $509.61 included the quality and company reputation, she mentioned nothing about more labor or what would qualify as work.  My response was not pleasant and I broke down what I thought was a reasonable price. Which was around $300 ($100 for trip fee, $100 for part and $100 for labor) leaving them still making plenty of money. I asked if they would refund me $200. She said she would talk with her owner and get back with me. Kendall called back today saying they would meet me half way and refund me a $100. How can a company ethically and morally charge someone almost 500% of what a part cost in a middle of a pandemic on top of it?!?!
Do not trust their Facebook or website reviews which they can control what gets published. No company would publish bad experiences.

Had a main line backing up in the basement and called to have them come for a drain clearing service.

Staff was friendly and arrived within the scheduled window. Took care to use appropriate Covid protections and a good job not making a mess with the snake/auger. Price was reasonable for the initial drain clear service (around $90).

They sent someone to send a guy with a camera the next day to investigate the blockage and propose a potential fix. After using the camera the guy told me he thought it was roots in the pipe and would likely cost around $8,500 to fix the line. In order to verify that roots was the issue, they requested $1,200 to do a hydro flush so they could more accurately determine the issue. My insurance company requested a second quote, so we got 2 more. Both additional estimates said that it was a house trap that was clogged and it would only cost between $4,800-$6,300 to fix the whole line. Fortunately we got the second opinion, as the $1,200 hydro flush wouldn't have even worked with a house trap and the total cost was much lower.

Overall I gave them a 2 star, as they were friendly and were able to get the water flowing as expected for a temporary fix, but were unable to identify the actual plumbing issue and were more expensive than what others were charging. I'd call them in the future for simple needs, but I'd definitely get a second opinion before I spent more than $200 on anything.

Apollo arrived and spent a whole 5 minutes in our home to charge us $79. He couldn't be bothered to do any troubleshooting, nothing at all except give us a quote of $2200 to replace our sump pump which he didn't know why it needed to be replaced. Rip off

Do not use Apollo! They are terribly expensive and do NOT provide free estimates. The ONLY way to get an estimate is to pay $79 for a service call. I had a toilet fill valve replaced, and it wax over $200! Seriously, do not use Apollo.

So if you read my last review of Thomas & Galbraith, you see that I suggested you read my follow up review and here you are.
After Thomas&Galbraith tried to rob my retired mom, just by chance luck, her brother started talking to a guy from Apollo and he agreed to come take a look.
Brad Hines, from Apollo was honest with her, didn't take advantage and some how she can flush her toilet after spending $89 and not the $19,000 quoted by Thomas and Galbraith
DO NOT call Thomas and Galbraith! Their Yelp reviews show their true quality of customer service.
Because of this experience, I'll remember and recommend Apollo.

If you own an older home, and have the original sewer line, I cannot recommend this company. I have problems with root intrusion in my line, and while the line has seen much better days, it is still serviceable. I recently had a small backup in the line that needed to be augured out, and I couldn't get my usual plumber here in time. Not only did Apollo charge me $350+ to auger the line (For 30 minutes, that's $700 an hour folks) they only used a 3 inch auger head, which didn't clear away all of my roots. They also use this opportunity as a sales call to put you in a high-pressure situation and try to sell you grossly overpriced sewer repair that you probably don't need.

I gave them 2 stars only because they came here very quickly, was up front about the pricing, and did restore my flow. But I will definitely take my business elsewhere in the future.

Apollo failed to perform the requested plumbing inspection service as requested and agreed upon.  The representative showed up.  He was in the middle of his investigation when he received a cellphone call and stated he needed to go to his truck.  He left and did not return.  When I called to find out why he left, the manager said he did not feel safe because the doors to the house were locked.  Apollo did not want to give me an inspection report for my insurance company and the police about the vandalism to my bathrooms.  The representative told me before he left that it looked like superglue had been poured  over the internal mechanics of my shower preventing it from working.  My house had been previously inspected and given a tune-up for my furnace.  So why would Apollo create such an obviously false story about not feeling safe in a house due to locked doors?  Who lives in a house without locking there doors in 2023?  Why would Apollo not want their inspection report regarding vandalism not shared with the Police Department?  Why would Apollo not want to talk to the police about what was wrong with my  bathroom showers, tub and commode?  The Apollo manager would only tell me that they did not want to get involved.  I was not charged for any service.

Apollo Home attempts to price gouge for unnecessary work to the extreme with unsuspecting customers.  I had a clog right in my main sewer line.  1st guy tried running his snake and claims he had trouble and almost got it stuck so they get their camera guy out.  He puts his camera down there and they try to tell me that the 90 degree elbow to the sewer line is bad.  They quoted me $3,175 to fix it.  I also wanted to have a main line valve replaced and they wanted to charge over $1,200 for that.  I told them no thanks, I'd get a second quote.

I call another company and explain the situation and they agree to do the work for 1/3 of the price (I didn't give them Apollo's quote), which entailed breaking open the basement floor to replace a 90 degree elbow.  The other company ends up breaking through the basement floor to try to replace the supposed bad elbow.  They tell me this actually didn't need to be done after looking at the elbow.  It was clogged up with some concrete pieces (how that got there is another story).  He tells me it really just needed more heavy auguring / snaking.  Bottom line, Apollo was just trying to get me to cough up over $3k just for unnecessary work instead of actually trying to simply clean it out.

Worst company ever ... tried to overcharge me when my furnace went out, saying a control board would cost $1,495 when later I found it for $95 at a local supplier. Called another HVAC company and they charged me $90. Owner Jamie Gerdsen said he would never apologize for charging 1,300% more for the part. Totally unethical ... here's the full story:

On Feb. 2 the furnace in my home stopped. The outside temperature was 20 degrees. I called Apollo Home Comfort. The technician said he believed the control board needed to be replaced. He went to his truck and came back with a tablet computer showing me that his company had the part and the cost would be $1,495 plus labor. He also told me that the board may not be the only problem, and that he may have to replace sensors and other parts that could push the price over $2,000. I questioned him on the extremely high cost of the board. He said the board was rare and those costs were in line. He offered to sell me a $60 a month service contract that would reduce the cost of the control board down to about $1,000. He also offered a $30 monthly contract that reduced the cost of the control board to $1,100. I continued to question the extremely high cost for the board, and he suggested that I replace the entire furnace, saying a new one would run about $3,000. He offered to have an estimator come by home in less than an hour to quote a new system. I wasn't sure if the cost of the control board was truly $1,495; but I agreed to see what the cost of the new system would be. The estimator said I should probably replace my AC unit, too; the package they offered was roughly $10,000 and they could replace the system three days later. Thinking I had to get the system fixed because it was sub-freezing, I told them I was interested in the replacement units; I was also going to check on the price of the control board. When they left, I got the furnace model and part number the control board and searched the Internet. I was astonished to find the control board at several online supplies for $95, delivered the next day. I searched a few local suppliers in the area and the first one I called said they had the part for $97. I purchased the part and easily installed the control board. However, the system still did not work correctly. I called another local HVAC repair company and they found that a small hose had come lose from the vacuum; he connected it and the system worked properly. The company charged me $90 for the service call. I called Apollo president James Gerdsen to complain about the $1,495 price. I told him that marking the price up 1,300% was unconscionable, and that I felt his company we trying to take advantage of me because it was sub-freezing. He said that this was his company's normal practice, calling it a Dual Overhead Recovery System policy, saying his technicians in the field do not know the actual cost of the control boards, so they quote the highest board. I explained to him that his technician was vehement that the $1,495 was the actual cost. He said that is the way his company prices repair jobs. I told him I thought his practices were unethical and designed to get a homeowner -- especially the elderly -- to pay an outrageous price just to get heat back on, he laughed and said he would never apologize for his company's pricing policies.

We wanted to make sure that are AC was ok since there was condensation around the furnace.   We scheduled for Tuesday, they rescheduled for Wednesday. We are selling our home so we had a certain window available that we did not have any showings which we told them.  They notified us that they were on their way near the end of the arrival window when it was too close to a showing. Thursday we got an assessment that they could not find the Leak or would not find it and that we needed replace the A/C and furnace.  The guy wanted one hour of my time while I am working at home and on a video conference.  He did not respect my time until finally I excused myself to return to my home office.  He got the info he needed and wanted to talk on a conference call later with my husband.  The call happened with him basically trying to shame us into buying a new unit for the future buyers.  He said that he would not replace the evaporator coil.  After finding another company, they did a leak test and confirmed that replacing the coil was the best.  We will never use Apollo again.

I felt sorry for their saleman when I signed up for their annual subscription for AC & Heat services.  Told him explicitly to inform me before renewing the subscription.  Their techs came to tune up furnace first and then AC.  Seeing that we are busy, they aggressively sell stuff.  First the AC was tuned up within a few weeks.  Then after a few months, another tech worked on our 5 year old furnace, he replaced an old humidifier and modified the ducting.  After a year, their tech came to tune up our 4 year old AC.  I told him to leave after doing his job and NOT to sell anything.  However, he said the capacitor is dying and needs replacement.  I decided to cancel this subscription due to their aggressive selling tactics.  Their office first refused and said subscription is renewed.  When I cancelled, they said they will charge the full price for the recent visit to tune up my AC and charged $130 approx.  Coupons were not applicable!!!  This company has some shady business tactics. Cannot trust them!

i had home plan for last 2 years and I have used their services in the past. they have always responded on time and have offered professional services. however recent experience was frustrating and not what i would have expected. had called for plumbing service to fit a 30 dollar bidet to the toilet. it was self installation kit but when i tried there was a leak and i didnt have the correct size wrench and probably didnt put the washer in the right place. they came on time - same day so always appreciate that quick response. However, gave me an estimate for 350 dollars. had misinformation that they would have to uninstall the bidet and reinstall it, since i had already removed it myself. Also factored in a pipe or something which was not required. spoke with manager who gave 50 dollars discount. then started working on it and said that they need to replace a valve which would be another 450 dollars. seriously? spoke with manager again who said they would only charge 150 for it. the boys left to get the valve which i am sure must be 10 dollars piece. anyways, they did the job well but significantly more expensive than what i would have expected. I would not recommend the home plan or their services. I have already called to cancel home plan. They are professional and I have not had issues with their quality of work or price in the past but just one bad incident

I am very disappointed with Apollo.  I reached out to them today to get an estimate on replacing a water heater.  I gave them information about our current water heater, the issue, and said we really want to have it replaced with a bigger unit.  She went ahead and scheduled, everything sounded fine, and then she told me it would be $79 for the estimate.  I told her this wasn't a repair estimate, but she said it was required for all estimates.  I asked if there was any way she could get me a rough estimate by phone, or even a base price of her water heaters and she said no, so basically she was asking me to pay $79 just to see if they MAY be competitive in pricing.
That is very deceptive.  If you can't even give an idea of what its going to cost up front, and still want to charge to give a quick estimate, then I'm going to stick with companies that are more up front.  I have found many other companies in the area that offer free estimates, and I will stick with them.

My thermostat went blank and my cooling system had been running continuously for more than 24 hours. I needed immediate attention.

Within in an hour, I placed a call to Apollo and was able to get a same-day appointment.

Breanna arrived ahead of schedule and was able to quickly troubleshoot and replace my old thermostat. When I asked for the most cost efficient option, she advised. This made me feel like she was an honest and trustworthy person.

Breanna made my first experience with Apollo, a good one.

I highly recommend.

Came over for an estimate and they were way over double 2 other estimates we got.  Talked bad about their competition and said they used used parts.  Then proceeded to charge a service call fee for giving such a crazy estimate.  The estimator either didn't know what she was doing or they are criminal.  Either way I would never recommend them. $6,500 for a standard water heater?  You've got to be nuts.  I received 3 other quote of the same Bradford and White unit ranging from $2,510 to $3200.

I'm a member of Apollo's program where they come out and service the HVAC twice a year and pay a flat amount per month.  Haven't had any issues there other than scheduling and high-pressure sales pitches.  Par for the course with larger HVAC companies.

Had a funky smell in our powder room, and figured some sewer gas was leaking in.  I called and got in the next day, mentioning it was probably the wax ring.  I wasn't there when the tech came by the next day, but my wife was.  Tech diagnosed and changed the wax ring in an hour... for $430, after discounting for my membership.  Assuming a tech makes $100K/year and the company marks up labor and parts 200%, it would've cost $174.

Watch out, this is a whole different level of highway robbery.

Apollo has definitely stepped up to the plate. After addressing my concern, I have now had the issue not only addressed but resolved. As usual when the service guy Phil showed up yesterday everything went great. Not only did they fix my problem but also answered all my questions and did an outstanding job. I just want to thank everyone that helped resolve my problem and I am happy to use Apollo many years to come knowing that I am good hands.

Not a happy day for me. Tech came out for AC 15 point master tune up. I pay 9.95 a month and get my funace and ac tuned up.The ac tech said I need my condenser coils cleaned at 60.00. When I look at what's included on the tune up #14 says condenser coils cleaned. I asked how cleaning of coils would not be part of yearly tune up, that is what I would expect. He told me I would have to pay. So the contract is you pay them to eyeball your equipment, turn it on, and everything else is just a ploy to get more money. Very disappointed in deceptive, false contract. You can just pay another company a few more dollars and actually save money as they will clean your condenser coils.Cancelling contract ASAP

I had Apollo at my house a couple days ago to replace a capacitor on my AC compressor. I knew what part needed to be replaced and about how much it should cost. Below is a sample of the part.

The cost of this part on Amazon is about $29.00.  Apollo charged me $366.49 for the same part!!!

I would never ever call Apollo again for anything and I would certainly not recommend them to work on anyone else's house.

A reasonable markup is one thing...just plain taking full advantage of a customer is another....

I had someone out to give me a quote on replacing a part and it seemed a little high.  He ended up giving me a quote of $2K plus an additional $3K of recommended services.  I had someone else out and they did the job for less than $1K and said that they don't recommend the additional items. Classic case of trying to take advantage of someone that they think doesn't know any better. Just make sure you get a few opinions before you commit to them.

If negative stars were an option that would not even come close to how terrible I feel about this company! The management is disorganized and appears to be lazy and unprofessional! There are clearly way too many men involved in this business. A driven female in the management department who knows what she is doing and is good at her job would do this company loads of good! The fact that you don't have a female on your management team makes me feel that your company is sexist towards women and that if you had the opportunity to put a woman in charge I doubt you would because that's how ignorant everyone at Apollo is! Women are disregarded in the trade industry and if the question ever comes up about why there are so few the answer is simple. I would be pleasantly surprised to see more women in the field and even more as leaders. My money is better spent with companies that show examples of diversity and have the ability to get with the times.

Our water heater stopped working and we've used Apollo in the past with good results. They quoted Monday but came out a day early on Sunday which was great. They quoted $3200 to replace the water heater....the price was double what Google said we should expect in our area. Non negotiable. What they offered for a standard 40 gallon heater did not feel like help...more like highway robbery. Needless to say we went in a different direction. Truly disappointed.

I wish I could give them 0 stars. By far the worse service I have ever received. We hired Apollo to do some work on our home to correct some issues prior to close that came up during inspection. We were selling our home and on a time constraint of a couple weeks. This was expressed to Apollo.
They gave us a quote and to secure the work we paid half up front. I began calling when I had not heard from Dale to check the progress. He was hard to reach but I found out that they had not begun fabricating our screens. This was weird so I was persistent about checking in. He could not give a definitive answer on when they would be there to do the actual on site work.
Finally the week of our closing I was able to get a date. He said he would be there by Thursday, the date I told him we closed' but no sooner bc other jobs ran long and he had other things on his plate. This was upsetting but I further stressed the importance of it being done Thursday. He said it would be late morning, early afternoon. (Thank God we close Friday and I was giving myself a day buffer bc they seemed unorganized and unprofessional)
I called Thursday morning. Paid the other half so we would at least have the receipt for the buyer even though I knew that wouldn't be satisfactory. They took the other half but the secretary said she didn't know when he would arrive and Dale wasn't there.
We waited all day until I finally got ahold of him at 430PM!!! and he said, real matter of factly that he couldn't make it. Total disregard for our time and situation. Total disregard for the buyer. Didn't care that this would definitely ruin our deal, if we had in fact closed that day. Didn't care that his word and promise meant nothing. Just the absolute worst.
Who can you call for this type of work at the end of a business day to have it done immediately? What a hopeless feeling.
Rick Stence came through and saved the day. If you are looking for someone that does windows/doors/etc call or text 513-485-7480. He came out at 6:15pm (after finishing a day full of work at a job site) and worked til after 10PM to make sure our deal didn't fall through. Him and his crew were knowledgeable and helpful. Worth every penny.
I wouldn't hire Dale and Apollo if they were the last company on earth and I was in a house with no windows or doors in the winter freezing to death. Still trying to get my money back for the service never rendered.
AVOID APOLLO AT ALL COSTS!!!!

update: if you had a similar experience of apollo coming out and giving you a ridiculous quote and you gave them the $80 complain to the bbb and get it back. they responded to bbb that i wanted a quick fix (yes i called you because i have a leak not because i wanted my whole house replumbed). be prepared for them to insinuate that you're poor. sharing my experience equals dragging their name through the mud apparently. i included a picture of their response to my bbb complaint and my response...i tried to put a stop valve on my plumbing myself and couldn't do a leak free job because i'm not near as handy as i thought. i called out apollo. their tech came out and told me that i needed to replace all of my plumbing because it's mostly galvanized and that that would run me about 20 grand. i told him i was only interested in fixing the leak for now. he said it would be between $1,000-1,500 for him to replace only about a foot of pipe. i asked him why it was so expensive and all he kept saying is it because it would be replaced with copper. this place just goes around and collects $80 for estimates that they know nobody with half a brain will pay. here's a picture of what i needed replaced below. i went elsewhere and paid $300 for the repair.

We had a contract with Apollo to check our AC and furnace. Never had a problem. I guess they are branching out into plumbing and electrical. They sent us an electrician and a plumber out for free inspections. We have lived at our current address for 2 years, had a home inspection before we bought and it passed with flying colors. The plumber questioned why we had a 50 gallon hot water heater because we only have a bath and 1/2. I told him that is what came with it when we bought it. Between the 2 of them they quoted us almost $16000 for repairs. The straw that broken the camels back was that the plumber quoted a 80 (!?) gallon water heater. Wasted my entire day because they came separately. Nothing but a big sales pitch for them to make money on made up repairs. Have cancelled our contract. FYI, I am from Fairfield Ohio, not California as this review lists.

Had a power outage, so we called Apollo. They tried attaching so many unnecessary things to the bill on top of the ACTUAL issue. When I confronted the tech that they're trying to gouge us when we're in a vulnerable position with our power out, he began reading me potential upgrade plans and if I wanted to purchase HVAC and Plumbing services?? How out of touch are these people? My power is out!!! Glad I found a different company who was more concerned with the customer.

Very awful, anyone would have better luck going ANYWHERE else but here. Will be making sure everyone I know never uses these money-grubbers.

Apollo came out the day before my friend (a certified HVAC tech came out and diagnosed what could possibly be the issue. Then told me how much the part would cost TXV thermostatic expansion valve. Which was around 100 something dollars with installation by the company it would be about $400-600 Apollo came out and made the same assessment and said that alone to replace the TXV it would run me $4000 dollars that is four thousand no a typo. I then called another buddy of my brothers who has been in the business for over 10 years and installed my moms whole unit and just so happened to have installed one on his own he said the valve cost 100$ and took him an hour to do. This company is a sales company the funny thing is my brothers buddy used to work for this company and said they are all salesmen. Had I not had two people in the industry I may have been inclined to take the charge they also knew I was looking to sell my house and probably knew I was desperate. Then I was told if that was not the issue maybe the inside coils but they were not sure and even if they replaced the TXV and the coils he wouldn't know if that was the issue and if it wasn't my best option would be to get a 15-$20,000 unit installed and that was ball park who knows what these people charge. If you are going through this company my best option would be to definitely not they do not have your best interest at heart. True scam artists

This company can not be trusted to stand by their products.  They sell defective products and refuse to replace them.  I purchased a brand new furnace from them and they have had to make repairs to it on three separate occasions in less than three weeks so far.

They told me on all three occasions that the furnace was not properly constructed.  They do not take responsibility and ownership for they sell.

Never had them out and never will. Had an minor emergency and called them at 9:30 pm. True to their advertising they answered and offered to send someone out ASAP that night and explained that the call would cost  $79.00. I asked them if the plumber was going to have the appropriate equipment on hand concerned about the late hour. They told me that he would analyse the problem and we would go from there. Well, I had already told them what the problem was and told them I didn't need an 80 dollar analysis, I needed a pair of hands to fix the issue for which I would provide the necessary product in the morning. They said, they would have someone call me first thing the next day. Again true to their word, at 8:03 the phone rang and it was the same guy asking the same questions. I explained that the as of the previous evening the understanding was that the plumber would be there first thing in the morning. He said he needed to call me back which he did within 10 minutes to tell me that their plumbers were already on calls..... I thought to my self really?. He said he could have a man out in the early afternoon before 1pm. I reluctantly agreed.  At 3:40 pm I called to find out what was going on and was told the plumbers were all still tied up and they could have someone out by 6pm.   I told them to forget it and called Midwestern Plumbing. They had plumber here and the problem was fixed by 6pm.

To make a long story short, call Midwestern.

If I could give a zero I would. I would never recommend this company. Scheduled them for a sewer backup $89. Could not come out the same day scheduled for the following day received a phone call from them that they would be there between 30 or 40 minutes. Hour and a half later no show. They told me for my inconvenience they would give me $40 credit for my next service how generous of them that I had to leave work unpaid and this is the best that they could do for me this is just the start.  Gave me excuse that something broke on the guy's truck and they are now just scheduling another person to come out. And that they would be there in 2 hours. Received phone call from tech he told me he was going into the house to see what was going on. Then received another phone call from another person at Apollo stating that they cannot help me with my issue because it is a rental property and that they do not work on rentals and they are sorry that they're unable to help. They left me with raw sewage in the basement for 2 days and all they could do is say sorry they could not guide me to another company since they did not work on rentals. When I called in they did not ask me if it was a rental. Not sure what the difference is if I own the house. Needless to say Apollo home is not a reputable company..

NEVER EVER USE APOLLO. Their markup for parts and service is INSANE and they basically hold you hostage to make a decision in a desperate situation. I needed a new capacitor for my AC and Duke Energy said it would only cost about $100 to replace (and they were right per my part research online).

Apollo charged me $450+ apparently WITH a 15% discount to sign up for their crap service plan. No other company could come out and I needed it fixed before I left on a trip for 2 weeks so that my animals would be okay. When I called to cancel, they wanted me to pay them back the $70 that the discount apparently got me...for something that should have cost $100 in the first place...

Apollo responds quickly to your service requests which makes them appealing but don't fall for it. They will overcharge you at least quadruple the amount that a service should cost. Total scam.

I can't speak to the work that Apollo does because we never got to that point.  They scheduled me for an appointment time of 2-5 pm on the Monday before Thanksgiving. I work during the day and my husband works 3rd shift. He volunteered to set his alarm for 2pm so he could be awake when they arrived. I arranged to be home by 2:30 pm from my job. Apollo called at noon to tell me the plumber was on his way. I told her that our appointment time started at 2pm and that we would not be available until then. She basically said take it or leave it and said we would have to reschedule if we couldn't be there. This was work we wanted done before our family came over for Thanksgiving.  We had scheduled a plumber and electrician and both had to come early or not at all. The scheduler was rude and said they couldn't accommodate the time THEY gave me. Fortunately, I called Mister Sparky and they are coming Thanksgiving morning! I can only hope they work out well.

Called on Wed to have my water heater serviced because we are without hot water. I chose Apollo because of their 24 hour capabilities. Went online to schedule an appointment and spoke with a Brad G through a chat room. Asked for any follow up communication to be done through email since I was at work at an emergency center. I was told that was not a problem. 20 minutes later my phone begins to ring and a message was left by a gentlenan to call him back for more details. I get it cleared by my supervisor to make the call back and speak to someone about the issue. I expressed that no one could be available until 730 that evening and got a response asking the lines of, eehhhh, that goes into on call technician hours. So I request something where I can be out of the house no later than 830am to get to work. Also, unavailable. I was told my request would be put in with a technician and they'd follow up to schedule. 10 minutes later, another phone call, another upset work supervisor. I speak with Ryan I believe and when putting in the address, the house is listed under my best friend and room mate's name. Nothing was said about there being a problem. I finally settle on just having someone come on Saturday. We can all hold out until then I figure. I was informed I'd get a follow up scheduling call on Friday. I received no call and call today Saturday morning. I speak with Andrea who cut me off to ask my name as I was explaining the purpose of my call (to check in the status of my tech request). She informs me that an email was sent on the 8th that they couldn't service our home because the owner had not requested it. She reiterates an email was sent, however, its 2017. I have email attached to all of my devices and know how to check a spam folder. Nothing in my box since Wed. You can tell she's irritated that I'm irritated that it's 30 degrees outside today and I've been without hot water for three days now. I tell her, forget it, cancel the request all together. So she asks, well is the homeowner available I can ask him. So I informed her he'd been available this whole time and that when I made the request I informed the technicians he was the legal homeowner and no attempt to speak with him was ever made. She asked again, and I responded again, absolutely not we're way past that now, cancel my request, and ended the call. Everyone apparently is disconnected from each step in the process and the people answering the phones are lacking in customer service. I wasnt trying to get anything for free, I just wanted hot water in freezing temperatures.

If price is the only thing important to you on a job, call around and get other quotes first. Apollo won't give you a quote over the phone until they come out and that costs $80. The only thing I can knock these guys for in my experience is that their price is toward the upper end of the larger companies by a bit. But hey - you gotta pay for those fancy TV commercials somehow. That said, I had a 50 gallon gas water heater and expansion tank replaced and a drip pan added. The job was done in less than 4 hours and was completed to the highest standards. They even got rid of the horrible saddle value for my whole house humidifier and replaced it with a proper T and shut off value. I probably paid about $500 more than if I would've called the guy who works out of the back of his truck. And I may have paid $200 more than some of the other big companies. But Corey did a great job. Don't let his young age fool you. He knows his stuff, seems to love what he's doing and clearly took pride in his work. Heck, he even signed his work. Great hire by Apollo. It was a pleasure to have him in my house and he even taught me a thing or two about plumbing and replacing a water heater.

Amazingly, he even dropped this quote on me: A man who works with his hands is a laborer; a man who works with his hands and his brain is a craftsman; but a man who works with his hands and his brain and his heart is an artist. When was the last time a plumber said that? If sweating pipes can be an art, Corey is an artist for sure.

I'd give 5 stars, but again, the price was a bit high. Would I call them again? Yes. But for a project like this or for a similar project, I would call around and get quotes first. That way you know what a reasonable cost will be. But if you want the very best job to the highest standards, give them a call after you already know what the job should cost.

On 8/20, Josh Nunez came to clear a clogged drain line in the basement. A prior plumber thought he had cleared it, but it continued to back up and we called Apollo to have a go at it. Josh did an outstanding job of not only clearing the clog, but also taking additional steps to clear all the remaining sludge from the line. That line has probably not been that clean for years.

Then with his tv camera, he went down the line from start to finish to be sure all was clear. That step also showed some possible future problem areas due to roots and root balls near the end of the line. He discussed the various options to solve the problem.

I hope we have no further problems; but if we do, I hope Josh will be available to take the call.

DO NOT USE APOLLO FOR ANYTHING!

This company clearly has a major issue in their upper management division because everyone I've interacted with at this company has horrible customer service, terrible attitudes, conveys over the phone and in person that they really hate their jobs, and provide what feels to be a very slimey and scammy quoting process.

There are PLENTY of other higher quality, more affordable options for your service needs all throughout Cincinnati. Trust me, if you just Google and/or use Yelp, you'll find 15+ better competitors out there who are going to make your life much better than Apollo Home.

Please, save yourself time and the headache of working with this company who needs major work on not only their customer service level, but quality of work as well.

Go to Google right now and find another company and start calling them!

I scheduled a Service tech this morning about 3:30 a.m. online at Apollos website for a 2-4 pm today because we had storms last night and lightning took out the kitchen sockets! My husband has trouble breathing and one of those sockets provides my husband's OXYGEN MACHINE . Also one of those sockets provides power to my husband's LIFT Chair. We're both Disabled Vets and my husbands heart is working about 35% so he needs oxygen. Anyway, the window that I picked for the time was 2-4. About 7:53 am Apollos appointment taker calls me & leaves a VM telling me to call Apollo to get me on their Schedule. So I called back and she said she would get me on the schedule! I informed her that I already had a window time between 2-4 for 2 types of techs one for electricity and a Plumber so I can swap out bathroom fixtures that I already bought. So I went to bed because My husband kept me up with his breathing problem. I woke up around 11:10 am and noticed 2 VM from Apollo to call them to get me on the schedule. So I called Apollo to see what's up. I first talked to a young man who told yes they called to get me on their schedule. I informed the man The lady had already scheduled me. So I told her I had already picked a time online. Well, the man said Yeah  that's our 3rd party and he would have to schedule me. The woman already scheduled me she even gave me a discount! The lady said she'd wave my second tech so I would only be charged the $79 trip fee. So, this guy even laughed at me. Okay Snickered at me. I told the guy this isn't funny and asked for a supervisor. The guy said he'll get a supervisor. He muted the phone because there wasn't any music playing while I was on hold. So this other guy who says he a supervisor get on the phon. I told the SUP about scheduling and lady who called me this morning. He to told me I was not scheduled even though I scheduled online and the lady acknowledging the 2-4 pm appointment and even I got an email showing the work was scheduled. If a company has a 3rd party picking up the scheduling I think Apollo should fire that company, because NO ONE is getting the correct information about potential customers! I told the guy aka SUP scheduling appointments, I want the 2-4 window and he says we have a 4-7 window! I said never mind I ll take my business elsewhere I don't want Apollo doing work for me. I also think Apollo she take their commercial off the air, because they're NOT about Customer Service!

We had quite an experience with these guys where a $99 promotion almost turned into a $9,000 debt.

Please read all the way.

We called in as our kitchen pipe was clogging up and sink water would not drain properly.

The plumber, who was very nice, was using the snake to unclog the pipe.
Per plumber, the snake was hitting a dead end after 6 ft in the pipe, and there is absolutely nothing that he could do about it, but call the excavator/investigator/supervisor to stop by.

Less than 30 minutes later, the excavator, Mr. Matt Dumas, has showed up to asses the situation.

Without further ado, Matt has determined that the galvanized pipes underneath our concrete kitchen floor were failing and corroding from within (!), and therefore needed to be fully excavated and replaced throughout the kitchen floor (if it is corroding in one spot, it must corrode everywhere else).

Per Matt, this scope of work will require the removal of our new granite kitchen counters, as well as the removal of our new floor tiles throughout the length of the pipe/kitchen (which will then require the removal and retiling of the entire first level of the house, if a matching tile is not available). Not a biggy.

And the best part, per Matt, this will cost us around $9,000 US dollars!!!!!!!
Not including the cost of retiling (new tiles and labor), nor reinstalling the granite counters.

After taking few minutes to fathom the scope of work, as well as the astronomical price tag, I began experiencing heart palpitations.

At that point, Matt suddenly remembered to mention our 2nd option.
Per Matt, alternatively, we could always wait till the company fix their pipe camera, which may take two to four weeks (!!), and only then, they could tell us the exact condition of the pipe and how far they will need to dig.
Thank you very much for such kindness of yours.

A) If a camera was an option, why wouldn't you mention it from get go, before trying to convince us to perform a $9,000 work that is based on no actual proof or indication and that will literally destroy our kitchen, make our lives a living hell and get us into a $9,000 debt (as Matt did offer a wonderful promotional financing option with an 11% interest and a $125 monthly fee on top of interest, we're sure his supervisors are so proud of him for this up-sale).
In other words, how come you haven't suggested the use of a camera before even determining what the problem was, for our sake and your own.

B) How come such big company and large crew of plumbers has only one camera, does the entire crew work without a camera (while giving customers blown up exaggerated estimates that are based on guesses)?
How come it takes two to four weeks to fix a camera, and why wouldn't the company purchase/rent a new one in the meantime?

C) If you knew that a camera is required to properly asses the condition inside the pipe, and therefore provide an indication for a proper solution, and despite your camera being broken, wouldn't it be the right/moral thing to suggest contacting a company with a working camera, prior to soliciting us for a $9,000 unnecessary project.

We politely told Matt that we are going to sleep on it (although we could not sleep properly for three days thereafter).

Long story short, we had a plumber from a different well known company stopping by and running the snake seamlessly for a good 40 feet with no problem (did not experience any problem once hitting Apollo's 6 feet challenge).

Despite Matt's horrific assessment, the pipes are in good condition and the clog was a result of regular grease build up, which was resolved within minutes. That's all!

We were never as happy and relived to part away from $300 as we were today (better than $9k), while we were reminded with the importance and the true meaning of morals and professionalism.

And lastly, always remember:

IF AN EXPERT SAYS 'IT CAN'T BE DONE', GET ANOTHER EXPERT.

Problem is, Apollo's team are far from being experts.

We tried to make an appointment for Apollo Heating and Cooling after our AC went out / didn't start after the winter season.  Lady we talked to told us she had an appointment open that night and someone would be out between 6-9PM.  We advised we would call back to confirm.  After calling back she advised the spot was opened,  but mentioned that it would be between 6-9PM tonight or maybe tomorrow.  Our first thought was what kind of company cant narrow down a window?  You are in service delivery and we get a cable company style window that cant even guarantee the day nor time?  We foolishly accepted.

After no show that night we called back in the next morning.  This lady informed us that we were never even scheduled for a service technician to come out.  She then decided to explain that our AC situation of blowing warm / cool air and not cooling the house after 2 hours of being on was normal.  She advised to run it for more than 3 hours and it would work fine.  We immediately called other companies.  This service is unacceptable for a company in this field.  Other reviews stated the service is excellent, which may be the case if you can actually get someone out there.

Do not waste your time with this company.  Call someone else.  They will be able to setup a firm window and actually be able to show up on time.

Found out, after the work was quickly done, a sales person gave my 79 year old mother who lives in a 900 sq. ft. condominium on a SS budget a price of $1,500 to replace her hot water heater!!!!  Completely and totally took advantage of an old, unaware and defenseless woman.  I got 6 quotes from other local companies immediately and the highest was $800 - most were in the 700-750 range for an electric water heater.  There were NO OTHER issues, a simple removal of a leaky hot water heater and it's replacement.  The best part is the original quote was $2,000 but when my mother gasped, he agreed to go down to a 40 gallon for only $1,500.  Would ANYONE put a 50 gallon in a 900 sq. ft. apartment??

I was having some kitchen remodeling work done, and I needed the following done:
-Gas stovetop gas supply disconnected and removed temporarily (and then reconnected and replaced) to allow a backsplash to be put in
- Relocation of a garbage disposal unit
-Reconfiguration and connection of pipes to existing dishwasher and new sink and faucet

I had used Apollo before for some minor work with installation of a new washing machine outlet, and they were expensive then too ($277.00), but I was pleased with the service so I had them back again.

I had no idea it would cost over a thousand dollars to have my kitchen work done. Because of the trip charge of $79, which I already had to pay, and not knowing what another company would charge to do the work, I ended up going with them, despite their high estimate. When it was all said and done, the kitchen work cost $1,407.85, which I would say is exorbitant.

On top of that, there work was substandard, and I ended up having to have them come out twice after they were done, because:

A) They had not reconnected the stove properly, and there was a gas leak. Although they are a 24-hour company, they would not come out until the next day, when called about the gas leak.
B) They did not connect the dishwasher supply lines correctly, and the dishwasher would not function, despite several attempts to run it.

On their trip out for the dishwasher, they gave up and said that it was an appliance issue that they could not resolve, even though the dishwasher functioned perfectly well and was used daily before they had worked on the lines.

I then had A1 Appliance out to resolve the dishwasher issue. There service was excellent, and they were able to resolve the issue fairly quickly. They said it was just air in the line, and they charged me only the trip charge, which was $90.90.

I called Apollo to complain about their incompetence, but instead they tried to turn it around on me and told me that if it was just air in the line, I should have just tried to run it some more, even though their own techs who install these lines could not resolve this issue. I asked for a reimbursement for the trip charge that A1 had charged to resolve Apollo's shoddy work. After all, I had spent nearly $2,000 with their company that year. I never received a call back.

I want to give people the benefit of the doubt and hesitate to write a negative review until I've had more than one negative experience. I want to write about happy, fun experiences. In fact, I subscribe to the three strikes and you're out rule. Apollo is out. I'm having a hard time understanding how they're people sleep at night. I get plumbing is skilled trade and you should be compensated accordingly but please don't try to scam me because you assume I have no knowledge of the subject and will pay anything. I subscribe to their care plan which gets me heating and air check twice a year for $9.99 a month. I also get 15% off any services as a member. Only they don't tell you that the 15% is more than covered in the fee they charge just to look at the issue AND their flat rate pricing which lumps the price of parts with labor.
Strike 1: Purchased $9.99/month care plan to save money on a service and 15% off any future service. Didn't share at the time that I would be charged upwards of $60 on any call.
Strike 2: At my most recent check, technician advised having my A/C unit completely replaced and that it wouldn't last much longer. That's an expensive investment so got another opinion. Actually two. Both opinions told me that while the unit is old, it's in good working condition.
Strike 3: Leak in 1/2 bath toilet. Apollo got someone out right away for $60 charge. Was told that I need a new fill valve, shut off and supply line. Price quoted was $360.47. That seems really high to me so I ran it by a few friends who suggested I look up part costs online to get a sense of cost. Both parts total less than $20. That means there is $340 in labor. I could have a brand new toilet installed for this price. When I questioned the high price with Apollo, the very friendly person told me yes, but we guarantee all of our parts and labor. I asked her to quote an inexpensive toilet installation just for fun. She quoted just over $400. And didn't see the absurdity in replacing two small parts for $40 less than a brand new toilet installed. Which by the way, a new toilet was not even offered as an option.

Interesting to note that I have been called every 15 minutes today by Apollo to schedule my repair. It makes you wonder if they want to rush you into a purchase before you've had time to realize what a racket it is. I appreciate your friendly staff but it means nothing if you're not honest and transparent.

Do not deal with this company.

I called on a Friday evening to schedule service on an urgent plumbing repair. I was given a time between 10-1 on Sunday, which I agreed would be fine. There was still no plumber by 9:00pm. I called multiple times and was told that the previous repair was taking much longer than expected.

Either this company is severely understaffed, or committing to too much work. Either way, Apollo does not honor it's service commitments.

Saw their ad for an $88 drain cleaning which was timely because I have one that has an odor coming out of it. Turns out they wanted to send a camera person over for $299 to take a look and then a second appointment to do the work. It is draining fine just has an odor. No clue how you get the $88 drain cleaning they advertised but I am going elsewhere. Bait and switch ad.

We have been really impressed with Apollo! Our AC wasn't cooling when we turned it on last summer, and we ended up calling Apollo. They explained that it would be the best use of our money to replace the unit, given its age and the cost of what the fix would be. They left us with a short-term fix, so we could have some time to shop around. We ended up coming back to them, and they were very clear and honest all through the transaction. We recently called them regarding heating issues, and were again impressed with the way they handled everything.

We had a technician come for a diagnostic regarding our AC unit.  The tech listened to us explain the issue, said he did not understand. My husband provided him with the work reports others had completed.  The tech NEVER looked at our unit, NEVER looked at the thermostat, NEVER assessed anything.  He told us he was on 'lite duty' whatever that means, and that he was going to call another tech to come help him.  20 minutes later he came back into the house to explain his manger said they could not give us an estimate but could tell us it might be $1700 (the estimates from others were $500) the tech then advised us if it were his issue he wouldn't pay that he would buy a new AC unit. He then charged us the $79 diagnostic fee.  I called to make a complaint and was told a manager would call and instead they had the tech himself call.  HORRIBLE! NEVER USE THIS COMPANY. We still have not heard from anyone other than the tech.

Significantly overcharged for refrigerant refill on my AC, $320/lb for R410a versus $80-120/lb market rate.  Even at this rate, I agreed to do refill when tech said I needed 1-2 lbs to get the unit working properly.  He proceeded to fill 2 lbs ($700 with trip fee!) and then told me the unit would still not cool properly unless I continued to add more coolant.  He ultimately added 4lbs and left me with a $1300 bill (which I'm disputing).  Shop around if you do want to get gouged on price!

We called Apollo for some simple electrical work - install some can lights, replace some existing fixtures and install electrical on the wall for a TV mount.
On the day the work was to be done, the technicians were late, and showed up without the parts they needed - fine, I wasn't paying by the hour.  They were very nice to my kids, which I appreciated.
At 4pm, they had to run - one needed to pick up his daughter - completely understand and respect people's work life balance, but the work wasn't done and we tried to do a quick walk through of what was done on that day before they ran out because there were some red flags.  The new outdoor lights didn't feel secure to the brick wall - so we pointed that out and his response was you bought cheap lights, that is what you get, don't worry they aren't going anywhere.  That night we had a wind storm - one of the lights banged around so much that two bulbs blew and the back piece of glass cracked.  I had to work with the supplier to get a replacement piece - which thankfully they provided under warranty.  I called Apollo and asked to speak to a manager about the work that was done, and Surprise - the installer called me back with more excuses.  I Never got to talk to a manager.
That weekend my husband and I decided to take a look at the outside lights.  When we removed the lights to find out why they weren't tight against the house we found that none of the lights had been properly grounded.  We spent our Sunday properly installing the lights - and surprise - there was no reason why they couldn't be secured properly.  We also found that not all the nuts/screws had been installed in the lights - like he thought - one out of two is enough.  And did he leave the remaining pieces? - nope, so we had to try to find parts that would fit, which I was extremely upset about after spending $500 on new fixtures.
Now we were concerned about the inside work so we got a referral from a trusted friend for another electrician to inspect his work.  He found that most work done was against code, the rest was sloppy at best and could have been a hazard to my house and family.  Apollo chose to put my kids, the ones they were so nice to all day, at risk because he didn't want to do his job.
I reluctantly paid my invoice for work that all had to be redone just to put this horrible experience behind us.  Next time I will do more research.  This was an expensive lesson but it could have been worse and my family's lives could have remained at risk.  I hope this post saves others from making the same mistake we did.

This place will overcharge you OUTRAGEOUSLY. I had them in to cap a gas line. This was an exposed gas line in the home, no fancy digging work or going behind walls. The person was in and out of my home in less than an hour, and I was charged $420.00. Looking online, most places say you shouldn't pay more than $150 to cap a line like that. Not only did they overcharge, but he made me feel like I had to get a pressure test done (an additional $450.00) or Duke wouldn't turn my gas back on. Thankfully, I denied this service. Definitely DO NOT recommend them.

To comment on the response left by the owner:
I have no issue that the price is fixed in advance. However: the pipe that was used to cap my line is $15.00 at Home Depot (I looked). The invoice we received has two lines - $79.99 trip charge and $362.07 for gas line steel up to 1 adder per FT. Let's say you quote the materials even at $60.00 (which is still too high). That means that you are charging $300.00 for the 45 minutes spent at my home, of which maybe 25 was actually doing the work. I say again, OUTRAGEOUS. No amount of training or experience is worth that much. Your pricing does not accurately reflect the level of service. Especially when I feel pressured into the work and an additional pressure test charge of $440.00. I will continue to let people know about your shady pricing, and I will keep this negative review at the top of every list for as long as I am able to hopefully sway even one person away from your highway robbery.

This company is a master of deception and over pricing.  I did sign up for the annual furnace and a/c cleaning, but will be cancelling in the next two months.  Had them come out to give me an estimate on a simple plumbing job.  Simply fix or replace an outside faucet that was leaking.  I was willing to pay a fair price.  Tech showed up and said it would cost $500 and needed to be replaced.  After a brief conversation, I paid the $60 to have him come out and give me an estimate and told him to be on his way.  Did a little research myself on you tube and found that it could be fixed and bought the part a Home Depot for $3.  That's right $3.  Either the tech did not know what he was doing or he has been trained to rip off customers.  Be vary wary of this company.

More problems than I started with...

Had them out to auger a slow moving exterior drain...after three techs and multiple visits (April 24-29)...told me they couldn't do it, but for literally thousands they would tear up my yard, run all new drain lines, tie in the downspouts, etc.  $5,000+  I thought they were kidding....Unwilling to give up, I found the hole myself...dug it up and found that Cincinnati Bell Fioptics ran their cable through our pipe...called Cincinnati Bell...they came out, dug it up, and fixed it within two days.  FREE!  NO CHARGE!!!!    I even paid Apollo to have their camera inspect the lines and somehow they missed that.  Spent over $1,000 for an auger and camera with no help.  I was upset but chalked it up as live and learn...they got me for $1,000..... But wait..there is more...

In that visit, they tell you to sign up for their club... then they can take that price off the cost of the visit...I wont call it a repair because they didn't do anything....so we sign up for the club to try to recoup some of our losses.  They will come out and service the units to keep them working well, etc.  They call multiple times to schedule the cleaning/service, etc...We want you to take full advantage of the club....so we agree to set it up...they come out to clean and service the unit...let us know everything looks great..should be good to go...then two weeks later the A/C goes out...they come back to tell us that we need an internal A/C coil...to the tune of $4,000.   They say they cleaned the sediment off the internal coils and now it leaks...  You have to be kidding me!  If we wouldn't have had them service the unit...we wouldn't have any issues...now they want more to fix it.  No wonder they are so eager to service the units in the club...turn no problem into a $4,000 problem.  Keep generating that income....we're done!

Be warned...this company hasn't solved a problem for me yet...and has just caused additional problems.  Fortunately I didn't spend the over $10,000 that they recommended in two visits and got it fixed elsewhere!  Never again!

They came to my house to to perform an AC tuneup/checkup. All they did was do a poor job cleaning the condenser coil and then showed me a picture of what they said was a crack in my heat exchanger followed by an attempt to sell me a new HVAC system for ~$10,000. Also my furnace doesn't come on anymore and I will have to pay another company to fix that. Don't do business with these shysters ever!

We replaced two HVAC systems with a new one, and as result had an extra waterline that used to go to the humidifier. The saddle valve associated with that unused line was dripping, and instead of just replacing the saddle valve I thought I would get it done right and call a plumber. I also thought I would try Apollo again as their technicians are very nice.
The tech informed me that by Ohio code I really should have an expansion tank on the cold waterline since we have a pressure regulator. Absolutely fair enough.
He went out to work up some prices for me and came back with three quotes. The least of which was almost $1000 to replace the saddle valve with a T, and add the expansion tank on a T. The other two clothes involves replacing a perfectly good water heater with a full replacement to the tune of over $3000. I paid the trip charge of over $80, went to Home Depot and bought a new saddle valve for $12.71 which I replaced myself... saving at minimum 95%. While in Home Depot, I asked a couple of plumbers who were chatting in the aisle what they would charge for the work including materials, and both said under $300.. and laughed their heads off when I told them the quote cost.

The visit from the electrician went well.  Ash arrived on time. We walked around the house to identify the items that were a concern for us. He gave us a reasonable quote. He completed the work quickly.  There was a mishap involving Ash's ladder and our closet wall. Ash and Apollo made it right. This is our third service with Apollo and all have gone very well.  I couldn't be happier.

This place is a joke!!!
They rigged my furnace to stay running
They charged my a  service fee
Told it would be 700$ to fix it
So they said the part would not be reachable till the next day. Needless to say I canceled in time for another company to be honest.

Steve L. assisted me with my first plumbing issues in my present home in Norwood. Knowledgeable, friendly and provided a range of options. Showed interest in what was important to me ( gardening and composting) without being invasive. I've had 4 great experiences with Apollo to date.

They have come out to my grandmothers house a few times over the years to fix or to do general tune ups on the HVAC and water heater. They have been quick to respond if there are any problems. Currently waiting on parts to help the AC preform better, but they came out the next day to make sure it was working. Friendly people and quick service.

I personally will never call this company again.  I wasn't paying enough attention as I was working while the guy was here to assess my garbage disposal.  All said, he was showing me all kinds of brands and costs of disposals with final install.  Well, the job took 45 minutes in total and I signed the bill while I was on the phone.  It took Apollo over three weeks and several calls to get my receipt.  When I got it, I looked up the disposal and it was a lower brand costing $299.  I paid over $1,600 for parts, install, and service charge.  The plumber was as professional as I could of asked for and appreciated his work.  However, when I called to ask for details, I got the complete run around from management.  I was told the 50% 40% 10% rule.  One of these is profit, you do the math..... I WILL NEVER USE APOLLO AGAIN.

I am a first time home buyer and hired Apollo to install a new faucet in my kitchen that I purchased on my own. The folks over the phone were polite and scheduling was easy. They absolutely refused to give any type of quote or estimate over the phone, regardless of saying they use flat fees, not charge by the hour. . They stated just to come out and give a quote is 79$, what??? The guy showed up with 1 minute to spare with in the window.

Immediately after arriving he started hitting on me, asking if I live alone and asked what I was doing this weekend. He was extremely slow with looking at the faucet, as if it wasnt straight forward.. I also asked him to look at a toilet that sounded like it was running after flushing.

After about an hour of just staring at the new faucet box, he came back to me with a quote. To install the faucet, and replace the rubber flap in the toilet... $1,398... WHAT???? I was shocked. I ended up just going with the faucet install for a modest 598$. Absolutely insane and over priced. It took him about an hour, continued  hit on me, and finally left.

Moral of the story, do it yourself.

UPDATE:
after exchanging many messages in regards to my experience, I was refunded half of my charge. After asking several times, I finally did get my breakdown of charges and receipt. Still- do it yourself! Its not worth this headache.

I had them come out for a few different projects (electrical, plumbing, and HVAC). The staff shows up on a time and is able to schedule appointments very promptly but the prices are extraordinary and the professionalism is questionable. I've been told the service guys work on a commission so depending on who comes out to your place you might be upsold or convinced to buy something you don't need. I spent $500 getting outlets replaced, $3K to get a sink hooked up after a kitchen remodel, and purchased the VIP service plan which includes HVAC and plumbing inspection. During the last visit for a 'plumbing inspection' I was told my hot water heater needed to be replaced which was suspicious considering I had just taken a shower and had not had any issues. I got a second opinion from Jolly Plumbing who confirmed it didn't need to be replaced and has been working fine for over a year now. If you are in a pinch and money is no object I would use this company otherwise I'd steer clear of them completely.

Plumber caused a leak that damaged my kitchen floor. Apollo took responsibility for 6 months until we finally got the floor quote.  After 6 months and over 15 emails stating they would take care of it, they decided that the leak was not their fault (it was) and now I have to go through my home owners insurance.   Accountability and Integrity as core values is quite the joke - now I have to fix and pay for their mistake.

And Apollo will tell you that the dishwasher was the cause of the leak. Yes, the first leak was the dishwasher; however, the Apollo plumber created a bigger leak when moving the equipment in my kitchen which is what caused the floor damage.  The original dishwasher leak was a very small drip that was easily fixed.  The secondary damage is was the bigger issue.

BEWARE!!! Worst nightmare of my life!!! Had a new furnace installed and EVERYTHING was done wrong. They even messed up our air conditioner which they were not working on!! I lost count after the 17th service person walked through my door promising I'm the best and will make it right! I had to take off work so many times, waiting for people to fix all the mistakes that were made and was not compensated for any inconvenience. NO ONE in management cared about the inept service that was provided. The service men were very polite and apologetic but couldn't do anything correctly. They had to replace and fix everything at least once and sometimes twice. Apollo did not apply for permits to install the furnace as required, which I didn't find out until we had a new air conditioner installed and found the furnace was not up to code. Apollo charges $500-1,000 more than other companies and sends unqualified technicians!!!  Save your money, time and sanity and DO NOT USE APOLLO.
