ABOUT BUSINESS OWNER

Pure-Line Plumbing's owner, Gilbert Rodriguez, is a man with a vision to change the stereotype of plumbing, and plumbers in general, by setting a standard of excellence in customer service and quality of work. In his 17 years in the industry, he has worked for many good businesses and some not so good, all the while learning what makes an exceptional plumber and plumbing company.

In conjunction with running a successful business, Gilbert is a husband and father. When he's not working, he can oftentimes be found at the baseball field either practicing ball with his son or cheering at his games. His other passions include mission work and travel, which he combines by working with Hydromissions International. He's had the privilege of traveling to Brazil, Africa, India and Thailand to dig wells that deliver clean drinking water.

When considering which plumbing company to call, it's important to know that the head of that company is fair and trustworthy. Gilbert is both.

I contacted Pure-line upon the recommendation of an acquaintance who indicated they would provide good service at a  fair and reasonable price. Unfortunately, I experienced neither. Of the three issues I asked them to address, only one was addressed correctly (a toilet shut-off valve), a toilet flow valve which was installed incorrectly (took me 15 minutes to re-install correctly) and an issue with a shower filter (which they bailed on altogether).
$393 later, I wasn't happy. When I contacted the owner, he pointed out repeatedly that I had signed a pre-authorization for the services-which is true. I waited 10 days for these guys to show up, and paid a ridiculous amount just to get stuff done I could have done on my own. The shower issue was what was important to me. After a phone conversation and a couple of back and forth e-mails, the grand compromise was a phone number to contact the shower handle manufacturer (this guy's grand solution was to rip open my walls to install all new fixtures), who promptly sent me a replacement filter at no charge; repeated offers to reconnect my garden hose that I mentioned they left unconnected (he seemed to really want to focus on this irrelevant aside), an offer to send someone out to get the toilet valve re-installed- and finally- a refund check for $58.98. I knew the rate for services was high to begin with (shame on me for being suckered in on this one)-it simply stung extra hard when I realized they didn't even get the simple stuff right and completely bailed on the main purpose of my call. Anyhow-caveat emptor with this outfit. If the service seems ridiculously high to begin with, don't sign their CYA authorization in the first place. I naively expected more integrity in addressing this customer's complaint then I got, so my only recourse is alert others to avoid being hosed in a similar fashion.

Pure-Line Plumbing was great with both their services and fair pricing.  I had Dwayne install a stainless-steel residential hot water tank that has a lifetime tank warranty.  He first came to the house and did a through assessment of my house's current plumbing situation and we discussed various options for the hot water tank replacement as well as a new pressure relief value and shut off valve. He was especially mindful of the high quality brass pipes that are in my house and the need to use brass to complete this new job.  The Pure-Line office prepared and sent to me a detailed quote and gave me a generous discount for having registered on their website to receive a new customer discount.  Dwayne and his co-worker spent a full day removing the old tank, installing the new tank and the pressure relief value and shut off valve.  They did an excellent job.  Very high quality work!  If you value superior workmanship, then call Pure-Line Plumbing.

Chris from Pure-Line made an after hours call to our house when the expansion tank in our water system rusted out and flooded our crawl space. He was the nicest young man, who got to the house and dove right into the issue. He diagnosed the problem quickly, got the part we needed and installed it at night, in the dark crawling around a very small space. Chris also suggested we get someone out to see if we needed any restoration work. He made the introductory call and arrangements were made before he left. When you are in the middle of what you think is a major disaster its nice to have professionals available after hours, in poor conditions to help you out. Don't hesitate at all to give this company a call. The entire problem was handled professionally and friendly. I can't say enough about the service.

Eli was professional AND knowledgeable. After a thorough search for the source problem he gave me different possibilities to correct with a complete breakdown of different costs for what he would find. It costs what it costs but I felt I was in good hands.

UPDATE:  I've since spoken with one of the owners who apologized for the mistakes made and was quick to rectify the situation. Since we already had another plumber install a new water heater believing the previous one to be kaput, we will never know if it could actually have been repaired instead of replaced.  I do, however, appreciate Pure-Line's quick and friendly response to an uncomfortable situation and would consider them for future plumbing needs.

Original review: I first had Pure-Line come out to fix a leaking bath knob and only had great things to say about them - I had finally found a good plumber! The technician was on time, got straight to work, and had (what I believe) to be reasonable rates.

The second experience also started off well enough - our tankless water heater died out of the blue and Pure-Line was quick to come out and take a look. Kevin spent time on the phone troubleshooting with the manufacturer but was unable to fix it. Upon leaving, he quoted me $350 for the visit, the parts they were to order, and the return visit to install them - I okayed it. Once all the parts arrived, they came back out to try again. Unfortunately, the parts did not work and as a last effort, Kevin said he was going to grab something to measure the gas pressure and would be right back.

The next time I saw him was when Kevin came back up to say that none of the suggested fixes/parts worked and gave me a new tally of $700.  Apparently, they had went out and purchased a gas pressure regulator and installed it to see if it helped.  The issue is that they did not ask me about the part or the potential costs associated with it (again, the last thing I was told was that they were going to measure the pressure).  At the time, I just went with it since it sounded like a much needed part, but I've since had the gas company and TWO other plumbers say that the system does not need a regulator and that it should be taken off.

I've also had some trouble getting a quote for a conventional tank water heater. Pure-line had given me a quote for a new tankless water heater but I asked if I could also get a quote for a regular tank heater as well since this tankless model was only 6 yrs old when it died. Kevin said he would email it to me soon.  Well ... I never got that email.  I also didn't get it after speaking with him a second time and him telling me he would email the quote over.

Personally, I feel like I got jipped there at the end and should not have to pay for a pressure regulator that I was not informed of and, based on 3 other observations, was never needed in the first place.

Pure Line are by far the most reliable, professional, best plumbers in the area. We had two different plumbing emergencies that they were able to respond to quickly. They were professional, clean, knowledgeable, and efficient. They were able to quickly get to work to identify the issue, evaluate the solution with us, then execute. I trust these guys so much now. They truly had our interests at heart. Can't recommend enough.

I called another local plumber on a Thursday to fix an issue with my plumbing where I had very low water pressure. That plumber came out, spent 4 hours diagnosing the problem and ended up thinking it was an issue with my pressure tank. They quoted me $500 to get it replaced and said the earliest they could fix it was the following Monday or Tuesday. I called Mike at Pure-Line Plumbing and he assured me he would get someone out to us the next day (Friday). As promised, Dwayne from Pure-Line came on time, diagnosed the issue within 20 minutes, gave me some pointers about my system, how to isolate failures in key points of the system, and saved me hundreds of dollars on the fix. Glad I found a real plumbing company. Pure-Line Plumbing earned a loyal customer.
