We specialize in residential remodels and repairs, including plumbing, electrical, and drywall and paint repairs and installations. We also specialize in tankless water heater maintenance and installation.

HISTORY


Established in 2005.
Joe Picariello has been in business for nearly twenty years, originally with his first company Spartan Electric of South Raleigh. Now a married man with five children, Joe continues his work in the small community of Wake Forest, as well as in the greater Raleigh, Durham, Cary, and Zebulon areas. Joe has made it his mission to always provide homeowners with honest, good work, putting their needs first and always providing as many options as possible.

ABOUT BUSINESS OWNER


While Joe is a New Jersey native, he grew up mostly in the Raleigh area.  Early on Joe began his career as an electrical and plumbing contractor serving all of Raleigh.  Under the company's original name, Spartan Electric, Joe serviced the area with 15 crews under his direction.  In 2003 Joe was named Contractor of the Year by Pulte Homes for his consistent quality work, reliability, and customer service.  Joe's company was also chosen to be  involved with the ABC show, Extreme Home Makeover, when it came to Raleigh 2007.

Uneven expertise so you won't know if the individual will be able to complete the job.  Importantly, they overcharged me- even though the electrician didn't complete all three work items, just two, he charged me for all three and quoted me an additional charge to return and complete the third.

We have used New Light exclusively for all of our plumbing and electrical needs.  They consistently provide excellent and timely service and it is true that they provide 24 hr service if needed. The owner has even come to our home on a Sunday night to make a repair.

The same employees return and know their customers, so there is never any confusion by having to deal with employee turnover.

We are leaving the area to move out of state and only hope to find such excellent service.

I used their service several times. Professional service, they changed water heater, installed special toilet and very complicated light fixture. They did a great job. Very happy with their service and will use their service in the future.

I called New Light to help me with a gas leak. While giving me an estimate, the service representative realized it was a simple problem. To save me the cost of a service call, he gave me the part I needed and told me how to properly re-connect it. No charge! Honest and helpful!!! Thank you!!

My contractor hired these guys as sub and this is worst of the worst. If u don't believe me, take a look at some pictures I uploaded. They went against the plan and tore up my yard and ripped up gas line, electric, fibre for Uverse but didn't bother to fix them. In the end, they left my yard in shamble for months and the contractor has to hire someone else to fix their mess. Whatever they touch subsequent issues follow. For example, while they were there to do some plumbing trim work, the water tank stop working. They were quick to replace it quickly for $850 when the pressure switch stopped working properly, I called Joe, the owner, and he told me that he was busy but will call me back but never got his return call. The gas line still leaked after they incorrectly fixed it. I have to call my gas service folks to fix it properly. My wife scared when she heard these guys coming to the house to fix anything. IT'S THAT BAD! Anyway, I already warned my friends and colleagues living in the Triangle to stay away from this company but if you're risk taker and adventurous, have them doing some plumbing work to find out for yourself.

New Light Plumbing and Electric is a company I will definitely use as needed.  Each person I dealt with was so polite; it was evident that customer service is important to them.  Each person I spoke with seemed genuinely interested that my needs were met in a timely manner.  I would recommend New Light Plumbing Electric to my friends.

I am posting this review to commend perhaps the last remaining truly honest plumber. His name is Troy of New Light Services. I called NLS to replace my 41 yr. old water heater. I approved the project and paid for half of the cost up front before he arrived hours later with the new heater ready to install. As he prepared to shut down the power to the old heater, he discovered that the circuit breaker had tripped thus disabling the water heater. Troy did not have to say a word to us; we would have never known, but he did tell us and proceeded to refund the charges (minus a service fee to drain the unit). That is honesty.

Really angry with this company. My tankless water heater wasn't working and the error code indicated problem with air flow. Joe, the owner came out and cleaned the filters and it failed to fix the problem. He told me to get a roofer to check the vent and charged me $186.00 even though it wasn't fixed. The roofer checked the vent the next day and there was no problem with the vent.  I had to pay the roofer as well. Now I'm on day 3 without hot water. I call Joe and tell him the problem still exists. He tells me he will come back out the next day after he calls the manufacturer. He says there was a probably a part that needs replacing but the system is only a couple of years old. Joe never calls and never comes. I call the company 4 times and he still doesn't call back. It's Friday so I put in for an emergency call. They still don't call me back. Desperate, I look up the issue on YouTube. Turns out the system just needed to be drained and my husband and I fixed it ourselves. New Light didn't care that we were facing an entire weekend without hot water. Very poor customer service and apparently aren't very good plumbers either since even I could figure it out. They don't care. Don't bother calling them. Find another plumber. Thanks for nothing New Light. I will be finding another plumber.

Was moving to Wake Forest from out of state, was referred to New Light from another contractor.  Showed up on time, completed all the jobs on the service order, along with a couple other small items that had come up after moving in.  

Prices were reasonable for the work, along with professional and knowledgeable team.

His crew member was awesome, when his boss let him do his job.  He first insinuated my wife wouldn't know anything because she's a woman, even though she was overseeing our remodel, and knew more than him.  His crew came out twice, to install the double oven.  I was met with an excuse that the hole cut was too small.  The cabinet installer showed up the next day and put it right into the hole, but couldn't completely get it in because the electrical work was in the way.  His crew came out again without moving the cord, because the, get this, the oven wouldn't fit in the cabinet... The oven was already in place when he showed up.  This guy has more excuses for getting out of work than anything.  Don't pay this man up-front!  Once the money is in hand, your project means nothing.

Within 20 minutes of my emergency call Joe came to my house to inspect the drip drip down my bathroom wall coming out of my light socket. Yup! Our hot water heater located, in my attic, was leaking into the bathroom below. I always worried about that water heater because I knew it was only a matter of time for it to go (It was 14 years old). Luckily, my husband and I were home to catch sight of it. Not only did Joe come to inspect it so quickly, but his team removed the broken attic water heater and installed the new tankless water heater within a few hours THE SAME DAY! We even never missed a shower. The tankless water heater was an investment, but after learning the replacement 50 gallon water tank types are being made more cheaply these days (to compete with the tankless) and don't last more than 6 years, we are happy with our decision to opt for the tankless. Joe would have installed either one, but we are confident the tankless was the better choice. I cannot say enough about how professional Joe and his team were at every step. Very disappointed in the careless service provided by New Light Electrical and Plumbing. Plumber arrived and before even attempting to diagnose a hot water heater leak, he tried to sell me a new hot water heater. First a tankless, then a tanked. After telling him no 3-4 times, we finally talked about the repair. He stated it was a T&P valve without even looking at the water heater. I confirmed with him 3 times that he was certain of the diagnosis and he insisted so. He replaced the T&P valve, left, and the hot water heater continued to leak.

Phoned another plumber to look at the problem, which turned out to be a bad pressure reducing valve. He stated it was an obvious diagnosis and checking water pressure was a standard first step in any diagnosis. Further stated that the water heater was in great shape and would likely last for many years to come.

New Light was careless in their diagnosis, expensive in service, and deceitful in recommending unnecessary replacement.

We woke up to our water heater leaking water everywhere, not a good time! New Light got someone out to our house within a few hours. Colm, the technician, took the time to diagnose and offered multiple options. He even called our utility company for us to ask if we had the right setup for the product he recommended!

Very happy with the service and results! Pricing was also reasonable and multiple options were given.
