Reviews
I would not use this company again nor would recommend them to any of my clients. They gave me an exorbitant estimate and after agreeing on a cash price Ron said he could not do it no less than a HIGHER amount.
The only good thing I would say is the lady who worked the phones was very professional. She was in communication every step of the way. The work completed was just OK.

This business is unethical. They overcharged and overquoted for work at our business. They claimed $30k worth of repairs were needed and threatened building code violations etc. Numerous other electricians told us this was incorrect including the fire marshall. In addition they hassled and abused our accounting manager calling her before and after work. Stay away. Filing a complaint with BBB.
Very expensive!! I only used them since my regular electrician was backed up a week and wanted new sauna wired right away, saw good reviews on one sight but should have looked a little more and viewed all of the concerns. my guy's quote was $600 with parts, these greedy guys charged me $1200 for approx. 8 hrs and over $400 for parts costing approx. $150. based upon past experience my guy could have done this in 1/2 time and that includes his assistant!!?? Based on other reviews they seem to be charging a huge premium, all electricians have the same costs in gas, truck, insurance etc.
I just spent almost $400 for an electrician to install a ceiling fan speed control to my existing ceiling fan. When I scheduled the appointment, I was told it would be $125 for the service call and $125 for the labor. I was not asked if I had purchased the device, nor was I advised to do so. I was also told the electrician who originally installed the fan would be coming to my home again, and I asked that he not arrive before 10 as I had planned to work out that morning. I was told I would be the second call of the day. This morning my doorbell rung at 8 am!! There stood an electrician - but not the same one who installed the fan three months ago. He then told me that he did not have the speed control device, and because I had not purchased one, he would have to run to Home Depot and buy it. So, I had to pay for the speed control device he selected, as well as his time to travel there and back - on top of the time it took him to install the device. I should have been advised to purchase the device before he showed up. I could fly to Chicago and back for the cost of installing the speed control device. Heck, the fan cost more than the speed control!!! I will NEVER use this outfit again and will advise everyone I know to steer clear!
I wished I have read the review before hiring this company for a simple job, this Father and Son over charged me for $385 for 1.5 hour of guess work and NOT able to find out my dead recepticles and walk away. They suggested I would need to cut my wall and run new breaker to the outlets,BS Father and Son, DO NOT RECOMMEND, stay away.
The technician was a very nice guy, but the woman in the office was defensive and unpleasant when I called to express my concerns, She said she would run my concerns by the owner and I would get a call back...crickets...never happened. As a manager myself, I make every effort to have satisfied customers who at least feel they were valued and listened to, but that didn't happen here. The job was simple: we had a power surge at the house that tripped several breakers. I needed them to check the outlets, switches and circuit breakers to one area of the house that would not stay working. He fixed some wiring and that fixed one of the circuit breakers. He then checked the outlets to the dryer and washing machine (which was actually part of the service call but the woman in the office really felt the need to argue that with me...of course when she initially called me back to schedule the work she thought I was wanting a ceiling fan fixed...). The technician told me that I must have a problem with the dryer because the outlet was fine. So another 1/2 day off and $150 to have the dryer technician come out and tell me the circuit breaker needed to be replaced. Fortunately he had the part on his van and made the repairs immediately in less than 15 minutes and also made the comment Are you sure the guy you hired for this was really an electrician? Because this is really basic. Again, the original tech that came out was very pleasant enough, but his employer is not.
PS: Same lady in the office told me I could expect service between 12-4 and the technician would call 30 minutes before arrival. He showed up a few minutes after 3 PM with no courtesy call to let me know he was on the way. I certainly hope her title isn't customer service rep.

There are pros and cons to my experience.
Pros
The office person (Heather) is efficient and personable. She asked relevant questions. She arranged for an electrician to arrive within thirty minutes. She called the following day for feedback on the job performance.
The electrician (Don Williams) called before arriving; he is polite and seems careful.
Cons
The service fee is $95 plus $95 per hour for any work performed. I was advised of the fee prior to booking the appointment. The $95 charge for travel time is too expensive.
Job Performance
The problem is a non-functioning electrical outlet. It had functioned for many years before power suddenly failing. The outlet is on a custom-painted wall. After exploring options, the only one was to open up the wall and trace the electrical wire to its source, hoping to discover why electricity was failing. I opted not to do this because of the expense of repairing the wall even if the electrical problem was resolved. My total cost was $190 ($95 for arriving and $95 for time spent).
End Result
I have several electrical issues to be resolved that will take considerable time. I intend to address these after Christmas 2016. Because of the courteous and prompt response, I will consider calling Father and Son Electric again. However, the $95 service fee will be a large consideration in my decision.

Not Recommended due to poor customer service, and improper business practice. Overcharging, and inability to manage basic customer service issues. Our business Walgren Counseling PLLC have had to file a Better Business Complaint and also request a reversal of charges to our bank against Father and Son Electric Service Co, Inc. The details of the complaint and all supporting documentation can be found at charlotte.app.bbb.org/co…
Business claims 2-3 hours of diagnosis time needed for a simple replacement that was pre diagnosed in under 15 minutes. Did not bill properly, charged for claimed time of $412.91 when on invoice you can see our signature for $278.95. When asked to address this concern was dismissed by the owner, Mr. David, we just don't want to do this job, you can have someone else do it. and the phone was then disconnected. After a follow up call to attempt once more was told You need counseling, you should talk to your people. as a direct insult.
Obviously we chose to use another company, however after direct letters of complaint and multiple opportunities to solve this professionally, we were forced to file a complaint to the BBB in which this business responded with inaccurate and false information all of which is disputable by the automated text messages, and their own invoicing. We regret having to post a review such as this but we feel that consumers must be informed of business practices such as this. All documents are available from Walgren Counseling PLLC by request.
Fantastic Service. We have an older home and Chris worked hard to locate our problem and solve it. Thank you!
Horrible experience!
Just moved in to a new home and didn't know who to call, went on HomeAdvisor and got this company.
I had to install a new ceiling fan, fix and outside outlet, repair an attic fan and install two additional outlets in garage.
They said it would be 2 technicians yet only 1 initially came - the other showed up after lunch around 2:30 and left around 5.
The first technician was excellent (I thought) did everything asked
At the end of the job he gave me a bill on the spot which was very high but I paid it and thanked him.
Next morning (8:30am) I got a call from the front desk person who gave me the worst customer experience I think I have ever had she berated me and basically yelled at me because their technician did not bill me correctly. She was beyond rude, telling me the technician undercharged me by $700.00, keep in mind I was at work as this was going on. I was so taken aback by it all I hestitated and when I did she came back with so you're saying you won't pay? Ultimately the owner called and excused this crazy lady's behavior by saying well she's from NY. After some back and forth He asked if we would settle with paying $400.00.
In the meantime we discovered they installed the outside outlet wrong and the bubble cover upside down so when it rained it tripped the breaker. They did send someone out to fix it (again a back and forth to get that done along with 2 delayed then cancelled appts)
They then proceeded to call us numerous times a day to pay the $400.00 - including Father's Day (which was the day after they finally repaired the outlet) when we had already agreed to pay it.
The shortsighted and sad thing about all this is they could have made triple from referrals from us if they would have had customer service to match their cost. When your employees make a mistake you cannot go to the customer and 1. Blame them and 2. Charge them for the company mistake
I would never recommend them - ever
They charge $85/hour, but they also charge per project. Ask which is cheaper. After what I thought was a high bill, the owner called me and fixed the bill. I appreciated that. The electrical work was done very well.
Never have I been more insulted and treated so poorly by a service provider. They reached out to me via home advisor and we setup an appointment for someone to come out and give an estimate with a window of 8am-12pm (4 HOURS?!!!) cable companies are now better about providing accurate windows for visits. P.S. Their office is only 15 minutes away from my home. At 12pm no one had shown up, so I called...their response was that they tried to call me to confirm my appointment 30 minutes before and since I did not answer they cancelled my appointment. Never in the history of mankind have I heard of this. Next, the owner Ron came out and provided a quote, he walked me through all the pricing of each item and seemed helpful...when he sent the quote it was a blanket price with no breakdown. I asked him if he could explain the costs again, so I knew how much each room lighting was going to cost and he yelled at me on the phone take it or leave it, I don't break down quotes. When I challenged him on this he hung up the phone. Ron is a grumpy old man and I would steer very far away from this company. They are deceitful and dishonest!!!
I don't think this company has good moral standards. They were so adamant about a $95 fee just to ring the doorbell and a then a $95per hr labor. What they didn't make clear was that was a $95 min. The technician was here only 30 minutes but they still charged for a full hour. Will never use them again.

unprofessional outfit. said there would be $70 charge to come look at problem, hands me a bill for over $500 to repair a cut wire. Beware Ft Mill. Then got angry with me for handing him a credit card (which he clearly advertised for on his website). Will never call again.
$85.00 before they even entered my home and continued clocking their rate hourly rate ($85.00) while packing up and writing the bill. Left me with work I had to redo. Look elsewhere.

The worst experience I have ever had while having work done on my home. So much so that this is the first time I have ever written a negative review about anybody.
The electrician came to my home to inspect and fix a few outlets that had gone out. He spent over an hour fooling around with a six way switch that had absolutely nothing to do with the problem.
After two full hours of trying to fix the problem, he was stumped and told me there wasn't much he could do. (!!!!!). However I was charged $175 for this service.
When I complained, I was told to take my complaint to the Pope and that maybe he could do something about it. Then I was called an As**ole and hung up on.
The next day I called another electrician who found the problem in 15 minutes, fixed it, and charged me $75.
Worst customer service I have ever had. Canceled 15mins prior to my appt with no reason why, then I was told I would be first on schedule for the next day, called almost an hour late to let me know they were on the way. Took time off work to meet them both days. (which never happened) Just rude!!! They never once apologized for our inconvenience and then acted like we were in the wrong after my husband blew his top. Really?? Found a different company the same day with no hassle and great to work with.
Poor customer service. Called them on the phone and asked them to install several electrical outlets, fans and lights at the basement. The guy on the phone all of sudden said, I don't want to do your business and get someone else and hung up. Was surprised by the rudeness.
