I thought my tenant had a leak under her kitchen sink. I called Dowin, based on a referral from a friend who had used him two years ago (and saved his info because he did a great job). I sent him some pictures and he came same day to take a look. He gave me an honest evaluation and told me I didn't need his services. So I didn't end up using him but I give him 5 stars for:

Dowin was fast, on time, reliable and very competent. Thanks to Dowin, I have a new functioning bathroom. He is honest and efficient, and lucky for me, he was available on short notice to deal with the emergency. Definitely recommend.

I called the guy to come over at 5pm and fix pipe that just broke at my tenant's apartment and he said he can come the next day at 11am.
The next day upon his arrival he learned that I (the landlord) wasn't there AND he just left! Despite the fact that I live next door and my wife was home... Guy is the joke! So I called JCS plumbing and they sent someone 30 minutes later, I paid them over the phone with my credit card and I'm happy as a clam!

I asked him to fix a running toilet and he gave me the run around.  First, he came and said he didn't have the necessary tools or materials and left the toilet unfinished.  Then he asked me to order a needed part but couldn't tell me what part it was.  Finally, after I asked him to get the part since he is a plumber and knows what he is looking for, he got the incorrect part and then told me if I see the part I'll get it.  In the meantime, he turned off my water and I was not able to use my toilet for over two weeks.  When I finally found the part, I had to call him several times to install it.  The only reason I called him back was because I already paid him and was not interested in paying ANOTHER plumber.  On our last call, he said he came to my house but men were working on the stairs so he just left! I am still waiting for him to come over and now I've given up.  

Again, good for emergencies ONLY.

First of all very prompt on time which I'm big on when it comes to appointments. Nice gentleman and diffidently knows his job. Very good price with the situation I had with my kitchen and bathroom sink. I give Trumpet two thumbs up.

Our condo had a unit-to-unit leak and we called Darwin at Trumpet. He was at the building within the hour with his equaly knowledgible assistant. They were very kind, professional, explained their observation, used their experience to give the diagnosis and proposed repairs, we the condo board discussed and decided on the repair and cost, he made the repair very quickly and we were so very happy and glad. Many plumbers can fix but so very few have the kind, thoughtful explanations Darwin exhibits. I highly recommend Trumpet.

Darwin showed up on time for the appt he was very flexible in setting.  He showed up with an apprentice that was obviously a little down on his luck. However he was very courteous and attentive to training.
One or both men made several trips to the work vehIcle to get necessary parts. He repaired a leak under my kitchen sink. The leak damaged my wood cabinets and began to mold. He worked diligently while conversing about causes. He thwarted another problem that I wasnt aware of. His price was very fair considering what plumbers charge.

Started off well. I made an appointment for Sunday service a day in advance. He said that he would call me if any earlier. I get a call 2.5hrs earlier than the time we settled on saying that he's 10 minutes away. I ask my tenant to meet him downstairs. He beats her to the door, waits a total of maybe two minutes and leaves. Things happen, I need something fixed so I decide to give him a second chance. We settle that I would meet him later in the day and that I would give him plenty of notice. I call/text a couple of hrs later, no response for the rest of the day.

No, No, No.... avoid!!!!

I hired Dowin Trumpet to fix a plumbing issue a new tenant was having. She was not receiving hot water in her apartment. I received a text from my tenant at 1:30am stating that although she had hot water in the kitchen and bathroom sink, her shower was still lukewarm.

I texted and called Dowin numerous times to see if he could go there and check the issue with the shower. I already knew it probably had something to do with the mixer.

He answered a few texts and then went radio silent.... never called to send someone over and I had to hire someone else on the fly.

Unfortunately, Dowin only accepts checks and cash payment apps. Being that I don't live near our building, I told Dowin I would pay by the cash app. Now I cant even issue a charge back for work that wasn't done to completion.
Avoid at all cost!!!!

These guys were quick, affordable and straightforward. Nice people who wont rip you off.

He may be good for a small leak or clog, but do not call for boilers. He does not know boilers. Pricey too.

I guess business is good for Darwin. I scheduled an appointment for him to look at my hot water heater. He was a no show.

Best plumber around.  I've used him for my home radiators and have had no problems with anything he worked on.  I highly recommend him.  He is curteous and diligent.

I would have given no stars... But since I had to select at least one, this business got an undeserving star.

I called for a plumbing emergency. The guy picked up phone and told me to text him picture of my problem. Hung up with no courteous bye or anything similar. I texted pictures to him and waited for 15 minutes for him to call me back. He didn't. So I called again to confirm he got the texts. He said I'm getting to your pictures now. And hung up without a promise to call or any other words. I moved onto the next plumber on the list.

He obviously didn't need my business.  But he should learn some basic business etiquette. Yes everyone is busy with ten million things going on, but don't run a business if u have no intention on providing services.

Trumpet solved my leaky bathroom sink problem ASAP and is very pleasant to deal with. Showed up within the hour on a Sunday and I paid fair price.

Darwin was great! Called him on the whim based of yelp reviews and he and his partner came and fixed my clogged tub and sink. I thought I needed a new toilet and he said he was able to fix it so I didn't need to buy a new toilet! Very honest man, cleaned up after themselves and were very nice.

Yesterday I called for an emergency plumber to unclog our toilet. They were unable to come that evening but agreed to come at 7am the following morning. The men arrived before 7am which was excellent. They worked for about 40mins to unplug our toilet. Based on the reviews I read on yelp most people stated the price was reasonable, so when he told us $250 for a 40mins job I was shocked and appalled. When my husband inquired about the high price the man stated because it was 7am and that most places charge $300. I am not familiar with plumbing services but I doubt it cost $300 to snake a toilet. I honestly feel like they saw where we lived and figured oh they can afford it. I would recommend them because they were punctual and fixed the problem but the price was not reasonable at all!!!

Great plumber with out breaking the bank!  I had a pipe burst and he came out and fixed the issue quickly.  He added additional insulation to make sure that the problem wouldn't happen again.

Darwin to the rescue! He kindly helped us troubleshoot the leaky toilet over the phone. This saved us money, time and him a trip for a very DIY fix that addressed the issue. Will totally call him again for future plumbing needs.

Great Plumber. Came to my place within 40 minutes, fixed a non draining bath tub in under 15 minutes. Every other plumber I called was either not available or gave me a far out service date. I was really happy with his service and his attitude!

I had an issue with my hot water heater. Mr. Darwin was very helpful and informative. He was came when he promised and his fee was super reasonable. I would definitely recommend him, and use him in the event of another plumbing situation.  Call with confidence.

Landlord was totally non-responsive to clogged bathroom sink and tub so after a week I decided to resolve it myself. Trumpet showed up 20 minutes after I called and was done 20 minutes after that. The cost was a little steep but when I said the estimate was high he knocked off a few $$ - plus he operates an emergency service, so a slightly higher price tag isn't surprising. If/when I need to I'll definitely call again.

Blocked toilet (a whole bunch of Kleenex) on a Sunday night in Brooklyn. So this is going to be a nightmare, right?

Found Darwin on Yelp. Called him. He was here in literally 15 minutes. Cleared the clog in less than 10 minutes. Charged me $150. SO WORTH IT. Thank you Darwin! Every repair job should be this easy.

This company did a terrific job- my kitchen plumbing was leaking in 5 spots - Darwin came out very quickly, was professional, very skilled, fast and clean. What a lifesaver!

I had water dripping down my plaster wall in the parlor and called Trumpet; Darwin said he'd be here within an hour, and he was right on time. I was thinking it was a bad drain connection to the waste stack, which would mean tearing up part of the bathroom to locate the source of the leak and fix it. He showed me why that wasn't it; the leak wasn't coming from the drain, but from cracked and missing grout in the lower tiles in the shower. The bottom line is it's a re-grouting job, not a plumbing job. Even though he didn't fix the problem, I now know what needs to be done. He charged a very reasonable fee for his time as well, much less than I've paid with other plumbing firms.

My toilet clogged up mid-August, when apparently all the plumbers in town are on vacation, including the one I had used before, so I was in the scary position of trying to find a new plumber at a moment's notice.  Saw Dowin's excellent reviews on Yelp, and decided to give him a try.

He answered immediately when I called, unlike any of the three other plumbers I'd tried that morning, and said he'd be there within the hour.  He arrived in forty minutes, was friendly and cheerful when he arrived, and had the problem fixed in less than 10 minutes, for a very good price.

BEWARE.

Ugh.  I had a terrible experience with Trumpet Emergency Plumbing.  I called at 7:30a about a gushing sewage leak into my basement.  The man I spoke to said he was on his way.  By 9a, no one had come yet so I called both of the two numbers listed and got no response.  Meanwhile there is still poop flowing into my basement and I have no idea when these guys are going to show up.  After several voicemails and texts he calls back and says he'll be right over.  He didn't show until 11:45a (4+ hours later, so much for the EMERGENCY part of their name).  When he finally DID show, he took one look at the leak, told me it was the city's problem, and that I'd have to call 311 to get it fixed, THAT'LL BE $90 PLEASE.  

I don't object to a consultation fee in principle, however, after paying this man and sending him on his way and then waiting 2 DAYS with no running water in my home for the city to check out the problem, I was told that the leak was, in fact, my responsibility.  Either the Trumpet guy was misinformed, or he deliberately lied to get $90 for doing no work.  (FYI, this guy cashed my check the SAME DAY, so I have high suspicions of the latter.)

Furthermore, when I was told that I would need to hire someone to fix the problem, I called Trumpet back thinking, hey, why not hire the guy I already paid $90, right?  WRONG.  He initially said he would do the job, then called back 30 minutes later to decline because his colleague had borrowed the tool required to do the job and he was on Long Island and wouldn't be available to come until the following day.

In short, either unprofessional amateur or deliberate unethical cheat, take your pick, either way, hire somebody else.

I had a clog for about two days, and after 2 trips to the hardware store, I realized it was time to call a professional! ...Called Mr Dowin on a Saturday afternoon-- he was at my place in about 30 mins(maybe less),gave me a quote, got to work, and cleared the drain! I have no local reference to pricing, but it seemed like an incredibly fair rate when comparing to nationwide plumbing services. Not only is he professional, but he and his associate are both very courteous and all around nice gentlemen!! I'm definitely letting everyone I know about this great service! Okay I called late in the afternoon today (about 4pm) after calling 2 other companies that had to get back to me for an estimate on reconnecting an old out of work backyard faucet.  Mr. Dorwin  gave me a ballpark estimate on estimate ($150.00-175.00) just based upon the description of what I was looking for.  He arrives within 45 minutes of my call, crawls under my house to look at the issue and begins to work!!! Within 2 hours of work, I have running water in the back yard and the price was $175.00!!!  Response time was excellent and got service with a smile!!!  I AM HAPPY....Call him and see what magic he can work for you....

Had a leaky shower and needed a kitchen sink installed 2/9/2016. These guys arrived on time and completed the job they were called for. Advice was given to a relative across the street that had a plumbing problem. They will be called back to correct there problem.

For a few months Darwin was my go-to plumber: prompt, courteous, capable, and a fair price. But then he really let me down by referring me to a fly-by-night plumber to replace our sewer line. He promised to vouch for this guy and that he would make sure he did a good job. The plumber never showed up to finish the job--despite promising to come three times--and left the basement a mess and all his tools behind. We had to pay others to finish his job, and Darwin seemed concerned only about getting his referral fee from his friend the plumber, not about the fact that the work was left incomplete and we were in a bind. Not totally his fault but it would have been better business to try to help us and apologize. Darwin's great for a quick project but for more involved projects I'd go elsewhere.

I wanted to wait some time to see if my tub was to clog up again and it's still working better than ever. I booked the appoinment the day before and he came right on time. I will defintely use them again {=

Darwin and his apprentice were punctual and thorough. They were very courteous and knowledgeable.  They made several trips to their work vehicle to effectively fix my under sink leak.  His price was very fair and when I saw his dedication to doing a great job, I tipped him handsomely.  
Side note: He asked to use my bathroom after working for approximately 2 hrs. When he came out he went back in with his tools. He took it upon himself to tighten my loose toilet seat!

After awaking five nights in a row with inches of water spread over our entire bathroom floor, a true superhero came to the rescue. Darwin did in 30 minutes what my landlord has 'fixed several times'.

I called at 8 am and two hours later, our leak was fixed. The service was supreme and Darwin even offered to help me put back my apartment after we tore it apart attempting to find the water meter (which we learned had been sealed off...New York City landlords, amiright?).

So happy to finally be putting away our pots and towels. No more clean up for us. Thank you again, Darwin. You are officially on our speed dial.

Called these guys to fix a leaky faucet. Two guys came completely unprepared. For some reason they felt the need to look all around my condo even though the problem sink was in the hall bathroom. They took a look at the faucet and claimed that it couldn't be fixed and we had to buy a new one. I could have shown them the video on YouTube that actually shows you how to fix this problem. I would do this myself if I had the tools. Of course they charged $90 for the visit. This place is a scam. I will be lodging a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.

STAY AWAY, SERIOUSLY TERRIBLE SERVICE!! I don't take any pleasure in writing bad reviews but the service I received from Dorwin was some of the worst I've ever experienced and I'd be remiss if I didn't warn other Yelpers in advance.

I live in Los Angeles but still own and manage a property in New York. A tenant told me that her bathtub wasn't draining so I went looking for a plumber. I found Dorwin on Yelp and the reviews were great so I gave him a call. He quoted me a price of $90 to snake the drain. That's more than I usually pay but I just wanted the job done right and in a timely fashion so I agreed. I set up a day and time for him to go by the unit that worked for my tenant.

The day arrived and he was over an hour LATE. He gets there, does something (I'm still unclear on what he did but my tenant was there and she assured me he never actually snaked the drain) and goes on his way. He calls me and tells me that it's done and I let him know I'd mail him a check. He didn't know I was in Los Angeles and for some reason it was a real issue for him that I wasn't in New York (apparently we don't all live in a  global economy). He told me it would be $150, I mentioned that he said earlier it would be $90, he doesn't bother explaining the price difference but agrees that I can pay him $90, as if he was doing me a favor by charging me the price we'd both agreed on.

My tenant called me an our later and said she'd taken a shower and there was no difference at all. I called Dorwin and told him and he refused to go back until he was paid. I have no problem paying for services rendered but I don't believe in paying for work before it's done.

I tried to work with him, it's 2014 and he is a business. If he accepted credit cards or Paypal I could pay him the same day but he needed a check. He agreed to come by again, I assured him that I would pay him. This has never been an issue with any other work I've had done in the building so I was incredibly frustrated. What business has such a problem receiving a check in the mail? He agreed to come by twice more and blew my tenant off and didn't show up because he hadn't yet been paid, even though I've explained more than once that I won't pay until the job is done. It's gotten ridiculous and needless to say I've already told him not to bother, I'll find someone else. Dorwin was unprofessional, surly, late, tried to overcharge me and didn't perform the service he was supposed to. It's important to me that things be done right the first time which is why I'd never use this service again and I'd advise others to stay away as well.

Darwin was great - we needed some quick help with a 100 year old home and he was able to come in a few hours, gave us a reasonable price and was a great person to work with. Highly recommend.

I'm a landlord in Bed Stuy and I have used Dowin at least 4 times for various services. He has installed a dishwasher, snaked 2 drains, and cleaned up an exploded sewage pipe (it was as gross as it sounds).

Overall he is relatively prompt and professional. I can't say I have that great of a frame of reference as far as pricing goes, but he is certainly cheaper than some of the nationwide chains I've used (such as Roto Rooters). It also seems pretty clear that he is willing to negotiate on price.

I think it pays to have an accessible local plumber, who obviously knows what he is doing, rather than dealing with the bureaucracy of a larger service with dispatchers, etc. He is always friendly and gets the job done.

Helpful people who don't try to rip you off. I had a simple problem with a new house I'm unfamiliar with. I called them and the person I spoke to gave helpful instructions to try to solve the problem before spending money to have them make an unnecessary visit.

Had a plumbing emergency on a Sunday morning. Called up Dorwin and he was here in a half hour. Tended to the emergency right away and was even able to tend to a separate, non-urgent plumbing problem while he was here. Fair price for both. Would definitely use him again in the future if I need to!

Darwin was truly a godsend! I came home tonight to a clogged toilet that wouldn't budge and didn't know what to do. I called Darwin after seeing his yelp reviews and he came over within 30 minutes, no questions asked, and unclogged the toilet within minutes. Darwin came on New Years Eve last year and quickly saved us from a disaster in our basement. He was fast, knowledgable and fair. He also showed me how to do the maintenance so he hasn't had to come back. Great service.

So good.  I called on a Saturday morning because my daughter flushed a hairbrush down our toilet.  Trumpet came out within an hour and a half and got the hairbrush out in 10 minutes.  Reasonably priced and very friendly.  I did not have cash so they even took a check!

Called Darwin today after I realized that a shut-off valve in my basement was defective and I could not turn our hot water feed back on.  Since it is Sunday (and tomorrow is a national holiday), I expected that he would say he could come on Tuesday, but when he realized that we would be without hot water, he promised come by in a couple of hours.   He kept that promise and replaced the valve.  He charged us a very reasonable fee (especially since it was a Sunday) and he was very professional and pleasant.   I highly recommend him.

I'll admit that getting in contact with these guys was a little difficult, but when he arrived he was apologetic about the wait and the response. They were extremely pleasant and cleared my sewer line clog quickly. They even shoveled my basement entrance for me!!! These are my new go to plumbers.

Darwin was very helpful in fixing a stuck valve. While we couldn't get the problem solved without the landlord's help, he was quick in coming up with a creative solution to stop the water from running and troubleshoot the issues. And he was very quick in arriving, for a reasonable rate. (Have cash or a check available.)

We called Darwin on a Sunday afternoon after a valve burst under our kitchen sink. This meant that we had to shut the main water supply to the whole house. He came that night around 9pm and said he had been doing emergency repairs since 5am that morning!  He was real nice, courteous, fast, and affordable for an emergency sunday call!  Thanks Mr. Trumpet!

I called Dorwin around 4:30 pm to repair my bathtub. The shoe and other pipes became disconnected due to rust. Water was pouring down into the 1st floor from our 2nd floor bathroom whenever someone took a shower. It was an emergency. My usual plumber had come to the house to assess it earlier in the day, but didn't have time in his sched to fix it until the following week. Dorwin to the rescue! He came over at 6:30 pm and started on it. Unforch he needed to get a new shoe (I didn't know tubs had shoes) so he had to come back the next morning. I recommend Dorwin to anyone living in the Clinton Hill, Bed-Stuy, Crown-Heights and surrounding neighborhoods. It's nice to have a plumber who is available at odd ours and knows his way around a Brooklyn brownstone! (Old pipes!) The cost was $350, which seemed fair given the mess and that he could come after hours. This included cost of parts.

Really identified root causes and took care of the problems with concern and efficiency. Also a very sweet guy - loves kids and soccer! Very fair rates. I will use him for years i am sure.

Had a hopelessly stuck toilet on, of course, July 4th weekend.  Landlord's plumber was unavailable, so I turned to Yelp.  Dorwin said he'd come in an hour, and showed up promptly.  He was friendly, got the job done with no fuss, and charged $175.  Very easy transaction.  I hope it never happens again, but he will get my business if so!  Nothing wrong with this guy.

We called Dowin from Trumpet Emergency Plumbing for leaky pipes under our sink and he came right away. He had all the tools he needed and he completed the job in an extremely professional and efficient manner. I would definitely use them again if we have further plumbing issues as they are reasonably priced, highly efficient, and came at our earliest convenience. 5 stars all the way.

I had this plumber come in to fix our clogged toilet on Saturday because our landlord said she wouldn't be able to get us a plumber until Monday. He was 2 hours late and then spent a total of 30 minutes trying to fix our toilet. After the 30 minutes he just told me that he unclogged it temporarily but since it was an old toilet it would clog again and that I needed to talk to my landlord about replacing the toilet, which he would be happy to do for us. He charged me $175 and left. 20 minutes after he left I went to use the bathroom and the toilet paper didn't flush. When I called him back to tell him/ask him to come back he said I needed to talk to my landlord because there would be no point in him coming back unless it was to replace the entire toilet (eye roll). The landlord sent over a new plumber this morning (Monday) and he snaked the toilet to find that one of our extra toothbrushes had fallen in and we hadn't noticed... The toilet is now fixed with NO thanks to Darwin. And we are now out the $175 he charged us! SO upsetting and frustrating!

Great service. Called on Sunday after failing to get a response from our regular plumber's emergency service and Darwin came over within the half hour and managed to clear a clog in the house mainline trap that was backing up all manner of horrific stuff into the basement. Diagnosed the situation and had everything back to normal in 20 mins. Highly recommended.

Great plumber, good team!  They lowered a washer and dryer into a basement for me at a great price.  I can't imagine them not there.

Darwin and his team are the BEST!  The went above and beyond the call of duty.  I needed a washer and dryer loaded down a coal hatch, which no plumber wanted to sign up for.  They did and they did it awesome.  I ended up needing a platform and they built one from scratch.  I can't compliment them enough.  Spend your here before you hire anyone else.  GREAT VALUE!

On 4th of July a pipe burst in my bathroom, flooding and ruining my kitchen. I called Trumpet, among about every other on yelp. The called me back and arrived immediately on the scene. It get were professional, stopped the water, fixed the pipe-- all on a holiday. I would highly Reccomend them!!!

Came right away, within the hour of my calling and freaking out about my overflowing toilet, and calmly and quickly fixed the problem. Super friendly guys, too. Total life savers.

my bathtub was clogged and after hours of trying to fix it, i found darwin on yelp and called him on a whim. darwin came the next morning and fixed it in 15 minutes. he was great, but i think that i paid too much. it cost me $160, but i was pretty desperate and can shower now.

Our septic system backed up and flooded the basement. Trumpet came straight over and fixed the problem. Swift and helpful.

I used Trumpet to remove an old toilet and install a new one I had purchased from Home Depot. Darwin (the owner) was right on time and completed the job perfectly. He stuck to his quote (which was significantly less than others) even though the job entailed a little more than what was anticipated. Would recommend him with the highest regards!

Called Darwin for a couple of problems we were having, the worst of which was a leaking toilet that was causing the entire floor of our bathroom to be flooded and leak down to the first floor. Darwin was very quick to become angry and seemed like he just wanted to be left alone to do his job. We left him alone to avoid creating a volatile situation, but had to push him to take a second and even third look at a sink he was supposed to fix that was still presenting the original problem he was asked to fix. The worst part though was paying Darwin a few hundred dollars in cash, with a tip, and going upstairs to a bathroom covered in plaster, finding that the toilet seat was broken, and that my floor was covered in water because the leak was still not fixed. As Darwin was walking out my door, he assured me that he would return should any problems arise. Fifteen minutes after he walked out, I asked him to come back and he refused, stating that he was done for the day. He claimed that he did not work Sundays and that he would return on Monday morning. Well, when I called him on Monday morning, he gave me a sob story about working all day Sunday and that he needed a day off. My very nice tone at this point changed to one of complete disbelief and upset. How dare he tell me that he doesn't work Sundays, only to end up doing what he referred to as emergency work and treat my completely unusable bathroom as something that's not so bad? On Saturday, Darwin had offered to refund me $175 out of $300, but when I took him up on that offer, he tried to offer me $150. Of course, I was not happy about this and insisted that the $175 and some of the tip be refunded to me since I have to call yet another plumber. After he agreed to come over (still waiting for him to arrive) and at least refund me my money, I found that the leaky tub and sink stopper he was also asked to fix are right back to where they were before he got here. Tub's leaking and sink stopper is not working. So, he just left and gave us $190 back for the toilet and an extra $70 for the tub and sink not working. He continued to argue and tell us we were the worst customers he has ever had and we assured him it hasn't been a joyride for us either. I was nice enough to let him keep $40 for gas, time and materials. I don't think he's a bad guy, I just think he's a bad plumber with an ego and a temper. So, my advice is this, if you meet Darwin at a bar or a party, feel free to say hello, but do not call him to fix anything in your house.
